The article focuses on gradual innovation of mediation into the practice of social conflict resolution in the light of legal and psychological means of mediation. While mediation is perceived as a conflictological concept and is more widely used in dispute settlement and resolution, a new interdisciplinary field of theoretical knowledge with its own conceptual framework as well as a new professional and practical field are beginning to form both in Russia and in other countries. As theoretical and practical aspects of innovation in mediation require consolidation not only for its national development but also for the guaranteed international cooperation, the article touches upon some of the particular theoretical issues of the topic in question: terminological consistency, consolidation of the system of mediation principles, the phenomenon of juridisation of mediation and its limits.

Urban gardening mainly means growing edible vegetables in a town. This practice has been traditionally used for economic reasons (subsistence agriculture), but now it has also acquired educational, nutraceutical, therapeutic and social relevance. The educational aspect of urban gardening has been the subject of a proposal for the newly born Science Shop in Florence (Italy). In the spirit of action-research, in our project we first decided to involve all (or many) potentially interested people. This has brought into light the galaxy of different aspects related to urban gardening and allowed the establishing of promising research lines. We discovered that this is a multi-disciplinary subject that touches themes dealing with agriculture, botany, psychology, chemistry, city planning and politics. We examine here the various aspects of urban gardening in the towns of Florence and Prato, two very different urban environments despite their proximity.

The article touches upon the problem of improving adolescent health. Its current state does not meet the needs of the society in the substantial health improvement of this social group. The results of two “Adolescent health and the environment” studies (repeated cohort studies, 1996 and 2017) have served as the information base for the article. Their special feature is a common sample object (adolescents aged 13–16 years old), single program, identical samples, geographically close regions and time interval (20 years). The proposed approach is aimed at searching links between sociological parameters of health, such as self-assessment of health, health awareness, health consciousness, motives for that and health behavior, and the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents. According to the study, changes in the attitudes and values with regard to health influence the increased attention to health and self-assessment of health. Despite the continuous radical changes in the society’s life, the psychosocial state of adolescent is characterized by certain stability of key lifestyle parameters in terms of time. As for their positive and negative attitudinal and behavioral changes, they are the result of the state social policy in the field of health. Active promotion of healthy lifestyle in recent decades has transformed into a change in attitudes related to smoking and motives for health care. Less attention to the environmental problems at the state level has led to less concern about these issues among young people. While disease incidence among adolescents is characterized by negative trends, positive experience of the social policy in the sphere of health is the basis for positive changes in this field. The introduction of health lessons for schoolchildren to the educational standard could be the influential component. This would provide a long-term effect of health promotion in Russia.

This article describes the basic concept of "tourist destination" in the tourism system, its content and essence, the definition given by various scholars, that destination is a geographical region with a certain attractiveness for tourists. The definitions of the concept of "destination" proposed by the authors in scientific sources are based on the division into four groups according to their important aspects: territorial, economic, social, administrative. While the assessment of the concept of "tourist destination" in the regional context is based primarily on the criterion of "dependence" on the specific geographical location of the region, economically tourist destination is considered as a specific destination for tourists and is considered an economic category. one is that there is a tourist demand.
While the social aspect is the interpretation of a tourist destination as a specific socio-geographical place, it is conceived that any system is governed by forces of a natural nature as a subject of management that characterizes the concept of a tourist destination. The article also touches on the concept of "tourism industry" and the work on the development of tourism in Uzbekistan today.

This paper considers various aspects of pro-gress, as a problem touched upon in the article by A.L. Nikiforov. The author suggests an assumption about the heuristic significance of the idea of progress in social philosophy as a kind of research tool, which is effective in the analysis of various social processes and allows to trace their directed development accord-ing to some criterion. It is argued that in this case, it is necessary to comply with a number of conditions: one requirement (a clear formulation of the criterion) and three prohibitions – a prohibition on subjective assess-ment, on discussion about criteria, and on absolutizing a criterion.

The study touched on an important topic in Japan, which is (Prime Minister of Japan Nobusuke Kishi from 1957-1960) and he also had an "important political role because of his great importance to Japan, where in this year (1957) he became the Prime Minister of Japan and had a great role in his proximity It was also characterized by a policy of establishing good relations with European countries for joint cooperation in order to establish friendly relations and establish security agreements, especially with the United States of America. Nobusuke Kishi was the great statesman, especially in the field of economy, and he was loved by the United States of America because of its strong and reassuring relations with him. The study was divided into an introduction, a conclusion, and three sections. The first topic dealt with Nobusuke Kishi, his life and political role until 1957. While the second topic spoke to Nobusuke Kishi's internal policy in Japan, as well as regarding the third topic, it shed light on it, dealing with Nobusuke Kishi's foreign policy. Finally, it should be noted that Nobusuke Kishi's political role still needs more studies and research, especially since this modest effort touched on one aspect of the political aspect. We hope that later studies will address the economic, social and cultural aspects that had an important impact on Japan's policy and in In conclusion. Malgré la puissance de nos technologies de communication actuelles pour maintenir du contact social dans des situations extrêmes, elles restent insuffisantes pour totalement combler les sentiments de solitude et d'isolement. Le toucher social, est essentiel au bien-être humain, nous permet de développer et raffermir nos liens relationnels et est un puissant canal de communication des émotions. Le présent travail de thèse s'intéresse à la façon dont on peut munir des agents artificiels de capacités de toucher social. Qu'il s'agisse de robots ou de personnages virtuels, ces nouvelles entités sociales sont déjà équipées de nombreuses modalités d'interaction (paroles, gestes, expressions faciales, etc.), et munir ces nouveaux types d’entités sociales de capacités de toucher pourrait améliorer encore leurs capacités émotionnelles et relationnelles. Plus particulièrement, notre principale question de recherche est de déterminer quand et comment toucher u and allowsn humain de manière utile, autonome et respectueuse. A cet effet, nous proposons une structure théorique et une implémentation fonctionnelle d'un agent touchant capable d'interagir dynamiquement avec un humain en temps réel, au sein d'un environnement immersif. En particulier, nous décrivons un module de perception des comportements de l'humain, un modèle de décision qui prenne en compte la cohérence et l'acceptabilité du toucher en contexte, et une interface haptique SOFTLY qui puisse être utilisée en immersion dans un environnement virtuel. Social touch is essential to human well-being and allows us to develop and strenghten our relationships. It is also powerful channel of emotional communication. This thesis work is aimed at endowing artificial agents with social touch abilities. Whether they are robotic or virtual artificial agents represent new kinds of social entities and are already equipped with many interactional modalities (speech, gestures, facial expressions, etc.). Endowing them with touching abilities could further enhance their abilities to communicate emotions and to bond with humans. More specifically, our main research question is to determine when and how to touch a human is meaningful, autonomous and respectful way. To answer this question, we propose a theoretical structure and a functional implementation of a touching agent, able to dynamically interact with a human in real-time in an immersive environment. We describe a perception module to detect the human’s behaviour, a decision model able to take coherence and acceptability of touch into account, and a haptic interface (SOFTLY) that can be used in the immersive setup to generate haptic feedback. Evaluations of this framework are discussed and hightlight that its abilities are promising, althought there are still clear avenues of improvement for the model

Social connection is important to one's health and longevity. However, not only do people need others to survive, we need others to thrive. Researchers call for deeper examination of the functions and processes through which our social partners help us to prosper and thrive, such as through increased physical health and well-being. Over three studies, I examined phenomena theorized to contribute to long-term thriving including positive emotions (i.e., gratitude and positive affect fluctuation), responsive support, affectionate touch, and physical health (i.e., sleep) within the context of nursing work (Study 1) and military relationships (Study 2 & 3). Study 1 provides support for the benefits of received gratitude expressions, an understudied component of gratitude interactions. Specifically, nurses receiving more thanks within their work week were associated with feeling more satisfied with their patient care and in turn positive physical health outcomes including higher sleep quality, for example. Thus, not only is feeling grateful important to well-being but receiving thanks from others benefits one's physical health as well. Study 2 extended research describing the impact of the dynamic and fluctuating nature of emotion and physical health to close relationships by examining how positive affect variability (intra-individual standard deviation) and instability (differences between each successive day's mood) promotes or hinders intimacy. The second study found that greater fluctuations in positive affect over time were associated with greater reports of closeness within military couples. Recent research indicates that variability in positive and negative mood contributes to reduced psychological and physical well-being; however, when applied to the study of close relationships, Study 2 suggests that variation in positive mood may instead benefit military couples. Finally, Study 3 investigated the degree to which affectionate touch enhances the interrelationships among negative event support, gratitude, and sleep within Veterans and their partners over time. Results offer limited support; however, one key finding indicates that Veteran daily reports of affectionate touch were associated with increased sleep quality for their spouses. In addition, Veteran reports of affectionate touch strengthened the degree to which spouses' perceived responsive support predicted Veteran grateful mood. Study 3 supports research showing that positive interactions with one's partner, such as physical touch and responsive support, contribute to sleep and positive relationship maintenance emotions, such as gratitude. Taken together, these studies offer support for the integral role our social connections play in thriving, particularly within the contexts of nursing and military relationships.

L'incitation à la recherche et développement, l'innovation et le prix sont au coeur de la problématique de l'accessibilité aux médicaments dans les pays en développement en général et dans les pays d'Afrique subsaharienne en particulier. La question centrale que pose cette thèse est de savoir dans quelle mesure l'Accord de l'OMC sur les Aspects des droits de propriété intellectuelle (DPI) qui touchent au Commerce (ADPIC) favorise l'innovation sans détériorer l'accessibilité aux médicaments dans ces pays. La thèse revient sur les fondements historique et théorique de l'Accord, analyse sa dynamique et examine sa rétroaction sur les lois nationales, les accords bilatéraux, régionaux et multilatéraux. Il semble in fine difficile de partager l'optimisme des partisans du renforcement et de l'harmonisation de la protection des DPI. Leurs effets sont doublement décevants pour les pays en développement. L'élévation des standards dans le domaine de la protection des brevets pharmaceutiques n'a pas induit une augmentation qualitative et quantitative des nouvelles molécules contre les maladies du type I et II qui touchent aussi bien les populations des pays pauvres que les populations des pays riches. Elle n'a pas stimulé les dépenses de R&D consacrées aux maladies du type III qui sévissent essentiellement dans les pays pauvres. Par ailleurs, l'accessibilité totale aux médicaments est contrariée. La baisse de l'accessibilité financière engendrée par des prix plus élevés n'est pas compensée par une hausse de l'accessibilité qualitative. En définitive, les effets pervers se cumulent. Nous formulons quelques propositions alternatives et complémentaires à l'Accord de l'OMC sur les ADPIC.

Svenskarna och internet (2014) points out that the use of smartphones continues to grow, despite this only 14 percent of the elderly in the age of 60 or more, interacts with a smartphone daily. The reason why older people do not use smartphones are thought to be because the technology is difficult and hard. The purpose of this study was to find shortcomings in usability for older people when interacting with a smartphone as well as what improvements should be made to increase the usability. To achieve this purpose five older respondents in the age of 60 years or older were observed and interviewed. Furthermore, a separate model has been created based on previous research to analyze the results. The analysis resulted in a revised model with existing shortcomings and pronounced improvement proposals. The shortcomings found in smartphone user interfaces are lack of information on how to perform different tasks, which means they are guessing solutions, another lack is that icons are alike. According to the study, descriptive texts should be provided to each icon. The improvements that older people would prefer to increase the usability are that it should be one gesture to navigate through the phone which is the dragged gesture, pointed information in a smartphone how they perform their tasks and icons as well as buttons should be named after performance. Proposals for future research are to investigate differences between older novices and older skilled users of smartphones and at what age older people are getting worse in interacting with smartphones.

Previous issue date: 2007-05-24This qualitative and bibliographic study conducted in São Paulo has two objectives: understand the emotional and the sentimental aspects that the Touch has in the elderly treatment and support education policy makers in the use of this approach in the health treatment. For the study, it was chosen to use the participative observation in the treatment of five elderly persons, to who one open question was asked. This observation allowed the author to have a better perception about the importance of the Touch in the relation physiotherapy X elderly patience. The bibliographic part of this study, based on Montagu, Leakey, Mauss, Elias, Condillac, Guyton and Gardner theories, enables the understanding of the human being as a psychosocial being and the social and cultural experiences that build this human. It can be noticed, in this study, that the elderly loneness in our society is a recurring fact that leads to emotional problems, degenerating his/hers social relations. Because of that, the actuation model of the health professional should consider the Touch as a humanized tool in his/her work. And this tool should be used not only to improve the health condition, but also to help the psychosocial patience dimension
O presente estudo, de caráter qualitativo e pesquisa bibliográfica, realizado na cidade de São Paulo, teve como objetivo compreender os aspectos emocionais e sentimentais que o toque desencadeia na relação terapêutica com o paciente idoso e contribuir para a formulação de políticas educacionais que enfatizem o toque no trato com o idoso.Optou-se por utilizar como procedimento metodológico a observação participativa no atendimento a cinco idosos, onde era anotado em um diário de campo, sendo feita também a entrevista contendo apenas uma pergunta aberta. Estes procedimentos possibilitaram à pesquisadora a ter maior e melhor percepção sobre a importância do toque na relação terapêutica com estes idosos. A pesquisa bibliográfica sustentou-se em teóricos como Montagu, Leakey, Mauss, Elias, Condillac, Guyton e Gardner, que nortearam as bases deste trabalho e possibilitaram a visão do homem como ser biopsicosocial e toda a gama de experiências externas, sociais e culturais, que giram em torno de si para a sua construção. Pode-se observar, nesta pesquisa, que o isolamento do idoso em nossa sociedade é um fato recorrente, o qual desencadeia, também, carências afetivas, prejudicando suas relações sociais. Desta forma, a atuação do profissional de saúde junto a este idoso requer um novo modelo de atendimento, em que as percepções para com o outro sejam colocadas em prática e a atenção ao ato do cuidar e, principalmente, ao ato do tocar, possam ser vistas como ferramenta mais humanizada no seu trabalho, que deve consistir em resgatar não apenas a saúde biológica, mas também o bem estar psicossocial, que contribuem para a construção do indivíduo idoso e o situam como Serno- Mundo

Depuis la signature de l'Accord sur les aspects de droit de propriété intellectuelle touchant au commerce (ADPIC), les membres de l'OMC doivent prévoir les moyens juridiques de protection des indications géographiques définies comme des indications identifiant un produit dont une qualité, réputation ou autre caractéristique déterminée peut être attribuée essentiellement à son origine géographique. Ainsi l'Inde, pays émergent à l'histoire ancienne, doté de nombreux produits d'origine, a mis en place un cadre juridique sui generis pour la protection des indications géographiques qui éclaire d'un jour nouveau le concept de lien entre un produit et son origine formalisé en France au début du 20ème siècle avec l'appellation d'origine puis étendu au niveau européen en 1992. La thèse montre premièrement comment l'Inde, pays de l'Ancien monde comme la France, utilise activement le droit des indications géographiques pour protéger les produits de l'artisanat et les variétés anciennes, reflets de son identité culturelle, en réponse aux menaces de la mondialisation. L'expérience indienne questionne le droit français et européen quant à la prise en compte des savoir-faire traditionnels en l'absence de facteurs naturels pour justifier l'ancrage au lieu, tout en confirmant l'intérêt des indications géographiques pour protéger la diversité des variétés végétales. Deuxièmement, le rôle omniprésent de l'Etat en Inde dans la protection des indications géographiques contraste avec le retrait de l'intervention des pouvoirs publics en France lié au contexte de libéralisation économique. L'intervention du gouvernement indien qui aboutit à l'enregistrement d'indications géographiques au nom de l'Etat se justifie par la défense des producteurs défavorisés, et la nécessité de préserver les produits de l'identité indienne. Le modèle indien de dualité des sujets de droit entre le propriétaire des indications géographiques, qui s'avère être directement ou indirectement l'Etat, et les utilisateurs des indications géographiques qui doivent être enregistrés auprès de l'Office compétent interroge la nature juridique de l'indication géographique, que ce soit son caractère collectif ou sa dimension de droit public. Nous défendons l'idée que l'indication géographique doit être qualifiée de droit d'usage, le principe de propriété devant être rejeté.

The aim of this thesis was to develop a touchscreen-adapted version of the well established Keystroke-level model, which is a user performance model designed to be a quick and easy way to evaluate user interfaces prior to creating prototypes. A quantitative research method was chosen to measure general execution times for common touchscreen gestures on mobile devices. Over 1000 data points were collected from participants who partook in a observational experiment using a prototype specifically programmed for this study. The results of the thesis involves the analyzed measurements acquired from the experiment, as well as a four important aspect to consider when performing similar experiments, namely: (1) The individual speed of the participants; (2) The participants’ level of expertise; (3) The participants’ methods of performing the gestures; (4) Designing the experiment for medium difficulty.Målet med denna uppsats var att utveckla en pekskärmsanpassad version av den välkända modellen Keystroke-level model, vilket är en modell som kan användas för att snabbt och enkelt utvärdera gränssnitt utan att behöva utveckla fungerande prototyper. En kvantitativ forskningsmetod användes för att mäta hur lång tid det tar för användare generellt att utföra de vanligaste fingergesterna på mobila pekskärmar. Över 1000 datapunkter samlades in från ett experiment där deltagarna fick använda en prototyp som automatiskt mätte den tid det tog för användarna att utföra de olika fingergesterna. Resultaten av studien består av de mätvärden som räknats ut samt fyra aspekter som är viktiga att ha i beaktning när liknande experiment ska utformas. Le but de ce projet fut de créer une version du Keystroke-level model adaptée aux écrans tactiles. Ce modèle de performance utilisateur est une méthode d’évaluation simple et rapide d’interfaces utilisateur avant la création de prototypes. Une étude quantitative fut choisie pour mesurer le temps d’exécution général de mouvements spécifiques effectués sur des écrans tactiles de téléphones. Plus de 1000 points de données furent collectés auprès de participants ayant pris part à une étude observationnelle utilisant un prototype spécialement programmé pour l’occasion. Les résultats de ce projet incluent l’analyse des mesures acquises lors de cette étude ainsi que quatre aspects importants à considérer lors de la réalisation d’études similaires, à savoir: (1) La vitesse individuelle des participants; (2) Le niveau d’habitude d’utilisation d’écrans tactiles des participants; (3) Les méthodes utilisées par les participants lors de la réalisation des mouvements; (4) La conception d’étude pour des mouvements de difficulté dite moyenne.

Selon les théories classiques du pouvoir, les relations asymétriques favorisent généralement l’acteur le plus puissant en termes de ressources. Toutefois, la partie la plus puissante au niveau de la force et des ressources ne gagne pas toujours dans les négociations. Cela dépend de plusieurs facteurs et notamment des tactiques de négociation de la partie la plus faible. Notre thèse vise justement à analyser un certain nombre de stratégies de négociations que peuvent mener les parties les plus faibles pour obtenir des gains. Afin d’illustrer nos propos, nous avons choisi l’exemple donné par un certain nombre de pays en voie de développement (PVD) pour contester le brevet sur le vivant contenu dans l’Accord sur les aspects des droits de la propriété intellectuelle (ADPIC). Notre objectif a été de comprendre les principales stratégies qu’ils ont employées pour remettre en question cette norme et la rééquilibrer. Afin de réaliser ce travail, nous nous sommes servis du concept d’hégémonie de Gramsci et de cadre emprunté à la littérature des mouvements sociaux. Cela nous a permis de poser l’hypothèse selon laquelle l’Accord sur les ADPIC constitue une norme hégémonique qui avantage essentiellement quelques pays développés et des entreprises internationales. Cependant, cette domination se cache derrière un discours universel et positif visant à susciter une forte adhésion. Ainsi, dans un tel cas de figure, les PVD ne peuvent pas espérer la remettre en question sans un changement de perception. Il faut donc que les règles perçues comme justes et immuables soient cadrées comme injustes et mutables, pour que les pays décident de les contester. Nous avons alors testé cette hypothèse à travers une analyse de contenu du discours officiel des PVD à l’Organisation mondiale du commerce. Ce travail nous a permis d’observer que le cadrage est un instrument important pour lutter contre l’hégémonie d’une norme. En effet, il offre la faculté de montrer que le brevet sur le vivant, loin de présenter que des avantages, est aussi une source de problèmes auxquels il faut apporter des solutions. Le cadre constitue aussi un bon moyen pour élaborer des propositions normatives alternatives. Toutefois, nous avons constaté que cette stratégie est insuffisante pour traduire les propositions des PVD en normes contraignantes. Afin d’obtenir certains changements normatifs, l’élaboration de coalitions s’avère particulièrement pertinente pour les PVD. De même, nous avons noté que les PVD qui demandent des changements normatifs quand la structure des opportunités politiques est ouverte ont plus de chance d’obtenir satisfaction de leurs revendications. La présente thèse nous offre ainsi un portrait général de stratégies de négociation et démontre que sous certaines conditions les parties les plus faibles peuvent obtenir certains gains dans une négociation asymétriqueAccording to the classical theories of power, asymmetrical relations generally favor the most powerful actor in terms of resources. However, the most powerful in terms of strength and resources part does not always win in negotiations. This depends on several factors, including negotiation tactics of the weaker party. Our thesis aims to analyze different type of negotiation strategies that weaker parties can use to obtain some benefit. To illustrate this point, we chose the example set by a number of developing countries (DV) to challenge the patenting of life contained in the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS). Our goal was to understand the key strategies they have used to question this norm and rebalance it. To make this work, we used the concept of hegemony conceptualized by Gramsci and the concept of framework borrowed from the literature of social movements. This tool has allowed us to make the assumption that TRIPS is a hegemonic norm that mainly benefit to few developed countries and international companies. However, this domination is hidden by the norms thanks to universal and positive discourse which help to generate strong adhesion. Thus, in such a case, developing countries can’t expect to challenge this norm without a change of perception. It is therefore necessary that the rules perceived as fair and immutable are framed as unjust and mutable, so that countries decide to challenge it. We then tested this hypothesis through a content analysis of the DC’s official discourse at the World Trade Organization. This work has allowed us to observe that the framing is an important tool in the fight against the norm’s hegemony. Indeed, it offers the possibility to show that the patenting of life, far from presenting just a source of benefits, is also a source of problems that need solutions. The frame is also a good way to develop alternative normative propositions. However, we found that this strategy is insufficient to translate DC’s proposals into binding norms. In order to obtain changes in the agreement, building coalitions is particularly relevant for DC. Furthermore, we noted that DC which require regulatory changes when the structure of political opportunities is opened are more likely to obtain what they want. This thesis offers us a general picture of negotiations strategies and reveal that under certain conditions the weaker parties can get some gains in an asymmetrical negotiation

Les négociations internationales concernant la protection des indications géographiques connaissent, depuis près de deux décennies, un blocage au sein de l’Organisation Mondiale du Commerce opposant des pays défenseurs des indications géographiques, à des pays plus sceptiques. Résultant d’un compromis entre l’approche des pays de l’Union Européenne et celle des Etats-Unis, les standards minimum de protection des indications géographiques de l’ADPIC ont mis en lumière la diversité des approches juridiques en la matière et fait émerger un débat quasi-passionnel sur les moyens appropriés que l’Etat doit mettre en œuvre pour protéger les noms géographiques. L’histoire renseigne sur le fait que le plaidoyer pour ou le réquisitoire contre l’un ou l’autre camp ont toujours tourné autour des philosophies de la protection des indications géographiques : d’une part, les pays défenseurs des indications géographiques prônent à travers leur mise en œuvre, la protection d’industries plus vulnérables à la concurrence ; d’autre part, les pays sceptiques privilégient le plus possible, la liberté du commerce et de l’industrie et par ricochet, la libre exploitation des signes. Pour ces derniers, seule la reconnaissance par le consommateur d’une association qualité-origine du produit justifie une réservation du nom. Le régime multilatéral des IG issu de l’Accord sur les aspects de la propriété intellectuelle qui touchent au commerce résulte donc d’un compromis entre ces deux philosophies de la protection. D’aucuns ont souligné le caractère insatisfaisant d’un tel compromis qui ne rend pas nécessairement compte de la nature réelle de ces signes géographiques. Ce travail tente de le transcender. Il est fondé sur le pari que, dans une perspective juridique, tout n’a peut-être pas été essayé. Dans un effort pour trouver un dénominateur commun et pour proposer une solution à l’impasse actuelle, cette recherche repose sur le rapprochement du régime de protection des indications géographiques, au régime de protection des droits de l’Homme. Non pas dans une perspective moralisatrice mais bien dans un effort pour déduire des solutions concrètes quant à la portée de la protection internationale des IG et du rôle des Etats dans la mise en œuvre de ces outils de propriété intellectuelle. L’article 15.1 c) du Pacte sur les droits économiques, sociaux et culturels prévoit : « Chacun a droit à la protection de ses intérêts moraux et matériels découlant de toute production scientifique, littéraire ou artistique dont il est l’auteur ». L’activation de cet article pourrait permettre de voir en les détenteurs d’IG non pas seulement les sujets bénéficiaires de la protection mais les sujets destinataires de politiques publiques. Il y aurait un donc un « droit de » bénéficier d’une certaine protection des IG et un « droit à » certaines prestations publiques. Au-delà de ce cadre en apparence rigide, le recours au droit international des droits de l’Homme rend la recherche d’un équilibre entre les droits de détenteurs IG et les droits du public plus intégratrice d’enjeux multiples et indispensable à la légitimité du régime multilatéral de protection des IGSince two decades, the international protection of geographical indications is characterized by a “blockage” in the negotiations at the World Trade Organization opposing the countries favorable to the protection of geographical indications to countries more skeptical in this regard. Deriving from a compromise between the European conception of the protection of GIs and the American one, the minimum standards of TRIPS have revealed the different legal options in this field and have resulted in a passionate debate over the appropriate role of the State. History shows that the advocacy for, or indictment against one or the other way of protecting GIs focuses essentially on the philosophy of protection in one or the other territories. As a reminder, the European Union “culture” is to protect industries far too exposed to competition while the American “culture” is to preserve economic freedom of operators and to grant monopoly on a geographical name only where such name has been tested on the market and is recognized by the “public” as having a geographical anchorage. Equally compelling, neither of these philosophies has allowed reaching the most acceptable balance for GI regime. This work seeks to transcend them. It bets that everything has not been tried yet, at least from a legal perspective. In order to find a common solution and a way forward to multilateral protection of geographical indications, the paper relies on the culture of “human rights”, not really with a view to “moralize” the field of study but more to deduct practical answers deriving from the international human rights law. As a matter of fact, article 15.1 c) of the Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights provides that “The States Parties to the present Covenant recognize the right of everyone […] to benefit from the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he is the author”. The activation of this article could allow approaching geographical indications operators, not only as beneficiaries of certain rights but also as beneficiaries of public policies. By virtue of article 15.1 c), there shall be a right to benefit from the GI protection (“right-liberty”) but also, a right to claim certain public policies (“right-debt”) in this regard. Beyond this seemingly strict framework for GIs, the reference to international human rights law proves to beneficial to the necessary balance between the rights of GI operators and the rights of the public. Incidentally, this balance is inclusive of multiple issues which is essential to the legitimacy of the multilateral regime of protection of GIs

In this chapter, the concept of Touch (with a capital T) is briefly introduced as a social and cultural concept, beyond just the physical practice or sensation of touch as we usually understand it. Touch is specifically identified as a key aspect of photography, including selfies and memes. Touch involves relationships of bodies, objects, spaces, connection, disconnection and positioning. As a communication practice, these relationships are meaningful and significant. This chapter includes descriptions of key terms to locate the focus of the book and a map of the book’s content. AbstractThis chapter outlines the book’s key takeaways and future research trajectories, emphasising that Touch is a key cultural communicative aspect of social media relationships, and more broadly of digitally networked relationships. I summarise the key argument of each chapter, then drawing these arguments together, I locate and define the key aspects of “semeful sociabilities” as a means to map Touch of digitally networked social relationships and to describe the technological self as meaningful (semeful) and part of meaning-making processes. Mapping Touch is a means through which selfies and memes (as fundamental elements of everyday cultural communication and embodied networked practices) can be explored as meaningful cultural relationships, exposing the social, cultural and political realities of everyday socialities. Future trajectories for semeful sociabilities include application to a range of other memes and selfies, and to networked social relationships beyond visual. Furthermore, I propose that mapping Touch (to identify semeful social relationships) can provide insight into investigations and mapping of automated systems. Semeful sociabilities has the potential to identify and expose the semefulness (meanings) and impact of seamless systems and gain a better understanding of ourselves as humans as we design our technological futures.

Sexual expression and physical intimacy may be among the most satisfying parts of a person’s quality of life. Touch as an aspect of comfort, support, and affection is as crucial a human need as food and warmth. The touch continuum describes a progression that begins with the soothing touch enjoyed by infants, advances to more playful touch relished by maturing children, and evolves to the sensual and sexual touch appreciated by adolescents and adults. The centrality of touch in the human experience in all the phases of life demonstrates the importance of sustaining touch during times of illness and disability. The significance of sexual expression and physical intimacy is demonstrated by descriptions of patients and their partners using a counseling paradigm to assist people receiving palliative care who wish for more closeness and romance with their partners. In this way the patients reassert themselves as sexual beings with needs to touch and be touched.

This chapter focuses on the social organization of touch. When one talks about the social organization of touch, they are talking about the organization of the meanings of the kinds of touch: That is what is being regulated and organized. In urban centers, the substance on which the regulations operate is undergoing a shift. Inasmuch as there is the situation of people of different castes forcibly mixing together under the rubric of acquisition, the body begins to stray out of the orbit of regulations. Indeed, in the ostensibly public places, the bodies themselves are more or less without regulations of the traditional kind. Thus, the most prominent occasion of involuntary touch is to be found in these public places. The more communal kind of touch is still obtained on festive and ritual occasions, where the inherited meanings of touch still operate across generations.

More specifically, the aspect of women in entrepreneurship is mostly untouched. Therefore, this chapter aims to examine the role of women in social entrepreneurship in an emerging economy such as Turkey. This research provides literature on definitions of social entrepreneurship and the differences between social entrepreneurship and business entrepreneurship by taking the historical development of entrepreneurship into account. Secondary data of four difference-maker women entrepreneurs are demonstrated through analyzing videos, newspapers, websites, and interviews of the entrepreneurs. Four different life stories of social entrepreneurs suggest that Turkish women social entrepreneurs face many challenges from their environment. The life stories indicate that they touched women's lives by improving their social status as well as economic conditions.

This chapter examines the social aspects of touch, distinguishing societies of inheritance from societies of acquisition. It considers the regulations on touch which generate communities. Societies could be classified by the principle of attribution of agency of value to human or inhuman and transcendental sources. It seems that it is possible to rewrite the debate about determinism and free will in these terms, along with several subordinate debates in theology. In societies of inheritance, almost everything is inherited, most certainly principles. Thus, in societies of inheritance there is less anxiety about values than in societies of acquisition, since the inherited structure and relations of value are not only accepted and consented to but are rather firmly in place. In societies of acquisition, the question of which values to acquire and which not to acquire itself generates anxiety, debate, and possibly violence.

Interdisciplinarity substantively refracts the concept of cohesion into the plane of dynamics of worldview transformations. Political psychology sets the vector of its operationality within the basic scheme of subject-setting – action-object. Mental cohesion leads to a global dimension of planetary identity.

The purpose of the study: to identify the role of the psychological climate in determining the effectiveness of self-regulation of cognitive conditions of students in everyday learning activities. In the course of the study, the following methods were used: 1. Test for determining the index of group cohesion K. E. Sisora. 2. Methodology for assessing the microclimate of a student group V. M. Zavyalova. 3. Methodology for the effectiveness of self-regulation of mental states A. O. Prokhorova and A. N. Nazarova. In addition, to determine the effectiveness of self-regulation of mental states, students were asked to identify and evaluate cognitive states that occurred at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of the lecture. As a result of the study, it was revealed that in groups with an average level of favorable psychological climate prevailed interest and reflection. Students studying in groups with a low-favorable level of psychological climate are more likely to experience states of immunity and boredom. The greatest impact of the psychological climate in the group is affected by such aspects of self-regulation of conditions as physiological processes and behavior: their indicators were higher in groups with a higher level of psychological climate. Further, for a greater differentiation of data using factor analysis, various indicators of the psychological climate were identified: «mutual assistance and support», «security» and «business activity of the group». It has been established that the greatest influence among the identified factors on the effectiveness of self-regulation is exerted by the indicator «group business activity».

Products and manufacturing processes need to become more sustainable. Grinding tools and grinding processes are no exception. The wear of grinding tools is an important factor in their grinding performance and affects the grinding process outcome strongly. Different wear mechanisms on the grit and bond level lead to a change in tool profile and sharpness. This paper discusses and defines common terms used in the literature. Wheel wear occurs in three phases, initial wear, steady-state wear, and wheel collapse. In multi-layer tools, a steady self-sharpening state is preferable. This means that tool material loss is intrinsic to grinding processes and needed for the process to function. The G-ratio is a common parameter to evaluate tool life but not exhaustive. Economic, environmental and social sustainability of tool wear touches many different aspects which are sometimes contrary, e.g. in terms of economic sustainability tool manufacturers need tool wear to sell replacements, but tool wear leads to more waste and reduces environmental sustainability.

There is plenty of research on school gardening practices reflecting the positive effects of garden-based learning on the development of elementary school students, which are mainly based on short-term gardening program implementation and assessment. However, theoretical research of school gardening is still not shaped well, as the distribution of research activities is unequal and the concept itself is still considered being innovative. A review of scientific literature and documents has been done to define what the school gardening concept really means and what are the spatial and functional domains of it. The review has touched on historical aspects of the school gardening movement’s rise at the beginning of the 20th century in the U.S., as the country considered being at the frontiers of the current trend. Differences in defining school gardening priorities were identified, pointing out the variety of functional domains of school gardening activities developed during the century. Currently, school gardening is characterized by its role in improving students’ learning and achievements, environmental attitudes, health and food behaviours, intrapersonal skills and emotional wellbeing, and social bonds. Also, as the term “school gardening” itself refers to a specific place-based setting, its spatial domain was inspected and redefined according to the variety of current garden-based learning practices. The review allowed to define school gardening as a school-run and community-supported tool for student engagement with school curriculum, civic activism, healthy lifestyle, and development of intrapersonal and social skills through experiential, experimental, transdisciplinary, collaborative, and self-directed learning.

Есть преподаватели, которые говорят, что использование гаджетов, как и любое другое социальное явление, имеет как положительные, так и отрицательные стороны: положительные моменты - это активное взаимодействие, наличие сенсорного экрана, занимающего мало места, возможность работы в группе, использование функции ноутбука или беспроводной сети, не связанной с конкретным местом, можно учиться, не выходя из дома, быстрый поиск необходимой информации; отрицательные стороны, маленький экран, ограничение памяти, необходимость подзарядки. This article discusses gadgets used by students in the learning process, in most cases these are laptops, tablets and smartphones. There are teachers who say that the use of gadgets, like any other social phenomenon, has both positive and negative sides:the positive aspects are active interaction, the presence of a touch screen that takes up little space, the ability to work in a group, the use of a laptop function or a wireless network that is not connected to a specific place, you can study without leaving home, a quick search for the necessary information.negative sides, small screen, limited memory, the need torecharge.

This study defined morphological importance of cultural heritage assets and formation of Egba-Ake town. Cultural heritages include man’s physical imaginative products which can be touched and seen include buildings, crafts, tools, ivory, cowries, paintings, textiles, pestles, mortars, food, wooden objects, tombs & grave goods, temples, dresses, pottery & potsherd pavements, monuments, books and artifacts. Morphology are factors that influence city/community formation which are determined by synthetic and natural determinants. Cultural heritage assets are whatever is valued by people today that was also cherished by former generations. This research explored the importance of cultural heritage assets in relation to urban fabrics formation of Egba-Ake. Qualitative method was adopted in this study, in-depth interviews and personal observation was used for data collection while Nvivo words tree and satellite imagery was used to analyze collected data. Ake’s palace and Itoku market is located at the center around which the Egba-Ake evolved. Ake’s Palace (political and cultural hub of the town) and Itoku market (the economic heritage of the town) was used to preserve various aspects of Egba-Ake cultural heritage. Ela festival (new yam festival) is annually celebrated cultural activity in Egba-Ake. This finding is relevant to policy makers as it allows the support of potential common structures for heritage administration in Egba-Ake. Effect of heritage in EgbaAke morphology is the new palace of Alake (the cultural ruler) of Egba-Ake were renovated and new once built a few years ago with modern architectural designs, furniture and fittings. This has made the Alake’s Palace to meet ‘international standards’. Social amenities and infrastructures like electricity supply, water systems, hospitals, good roads, administrative offices, schools; communication networks, etc. are now a major feature in Egba-Ake town. Further studies will enhance the implementation issues which may arise from the creation of a framework for cultural heritage management, with emphasis on risk management and risk reduction of cultural heritage.

Since 2016, I have been applying the ‘BeWeDō® framework’ as a new method within the broad rubric of Design Thinking. The unique design practice-orientated research is inspired by the Japanese martial art of Aikidō, and literally creates space to get people moving – physically, mentally and socially – to explore an issue and then take the first steps to move conversation to action with embodied ideation. In structuring co-creative possibilities for embodied ideation, BeWeDō adapts the Aikidō movement exercise of ‘tai no henko’ to get people working in pairs, connecting with each other by the wrist in order to move their bodies (communicating in both the physical and mental sense with the movement of their partner) to more desirable positions. The approach involves communication as a co-operative activity transcending the individual: rather, it is a collective capacity generated in the relationships and interactions among people. Offering your hand, and your partner touching your wrist using tai no henko, is one of the most effective aspects of the BeWeDō experience, providing a compelling multi-sensory experience by which people can dynamically connect and co-create possibilities with movement. This connection and light, non-intrusive physical touch amplifies the communication of ideas, facilitates trust, and creates bonds between people. BeWeDō had garnered international recognition prior to the global pandemic COVID-19 turning the world upside down in January 2020 when, all of a sudden ‘human touch’ could put another person’s health in jeopardy! COVID-19 blurred the line between the physical and virtual spaces forever. While video-calling interfaces such as Zoom have enabled people to positively connect and foster some sense of togetherness during the pandemic in ways that would have been impossible just a few years ago, the downside is that the current experience can also negatively impact on attention, collaboration and creativity. Within this context how could I continue to offer people a psychologically safe physical experience as a practice-orientated process for structuring embodied ideation? In response to the pandemic, I have used a visual ethnography approach to connect my practical, personal, and participatory field experiences. My research employed all the senses to create, perform, and represent knowledge as part of the process of reflecting critically on how the existing BeWeDō experience could evolve and navigate the sensory interdependence of the body-mind-environment in a pandemic context. The findings confirmed that the BeWeDō approach could quickly adapt to offer (1) ‘non-touch’ and (2) 'socially distanced' practices. In addition, one of the more significant findings to emerge from this study is the development of an experimental (3) ‘virtual’ practice launched during the DRS2020 conference. Virtual BeWeDō is a gestural and motion-based interface prototype that coordinate dynamic virtual movement using the BeWeDō approach as a catalyst for making connections – a unique transdisciplinary response enabling people to maintain, advance, and generate on-going digital collaborations now, and post-pandemic.
