S. Zoruk was a bright representative of the artistic circle with an original view and individual ap- proach to art. His innovative methodological theories on academic drawing are organically included in the concept of scientific and methodological base of the Department of Drawing NAOMA and drawing school in general. S. Zoruk constantly studied and improved the technique of drawing, built his personal style. It is in the pictorial compositions that his authorial style with an emphatically refined aesthetic and philosophical subtext is most vividly revealed. The line, the stroke, the spot are combined and intertwined, creating elegant images of his paintings. His style of drawing is characterized by a light, free line. It is extremely interesting to see the evolution of the Zoruk artist: "Game-4" (1991), "Breath of the Wind" (1993), diptychs "Farewell to the Hat" (1993) on carnival themes and "Time to scatter stones, time to collect stones" (1993) for biblical motives. They are made in the technique of drawing. Thanks to the compositional techniques of including large sizes of clean planes of paper and the clarity of the line, the artist achieves the effect when the viewer’s imagination continues to paint the plastic life of the image. S. Zoruk’s creative style is characterized by refinement and detail of the image, elegance and lightness of the line and, at the same time, there is a pause, a colon in the story, which gives space for plot fantasizing. An important place in the artist’s creative activity was occupied by his teaching work, which he began in 1989 at the Department of Drawing KDHI. He alternately taught drawing at the Faculty of Architecture, and later at the restoration, theater, and graphic departments. He took a direct part in the forma- tion of the scientific and theoretical basis for the methods of teaching drawing and introduced methodological development, namely "Double productions in the 5th year" in the working program of the drawing. The level of professional qualification of the artist was marked in 1986 by admission to the National Academy of Arts, the rank — Honored Artist of Ukraine (1996), in 2000 the academic rank of associate professor, and since 2003 S. Zoruk held the position of professor. He successfully combined pedagogical and exhibition activities, repeatedly visited and collaborated with art galleries in Suzhou, Wu Xi (PRC). He has about 40 exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. His works are in the funds of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the museum "Kachanivka" and the Museum of Contemporary Art (Kaliningrad), in private collections in the Netherlands, Russia, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, USA, China. S. Zoruk’s creative and pedagogical activity were awarded in 2002 by the award of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine "For out- standing merits in the development of culture and art". Philosophical sound in combination with intellectual- ism, together with high professional skill gave S. Zoruk’s works of extraordinary artistic value, made them an important phenomenon of Ukrainian art of the last quarter of the XX — beginning of the XXI century. His works have a sense of the space of the theatrical stage: the images, which is raised up to generalization are united by a certain game moment, the artist slowly unfolds in front of the spectator the dramaturgy of the plot, leaving a field for his own interpretations.

AbstractThe Semmering Base Tunnel (SBT), with a total length of 27.3 km, is one of the leading construction projects of the Baltic-Adriatic Railway Network. The tunnel connects the two federal provinces of Lower Austria and Styria and cuts through the eastern part of the Alps. The construction lot SBT 1.1-Tunnel Gloggnitz is characterized by a complex geological- and hydro-geological architecture containing alternating competent geological structures, major fault zones, and corresponding geological transition zones. There are three main water-bearing formations at the construction lot SBT 1.1: (a) Karst-prone blocky limestone with an initial water pressure of 10 bar. The discontinuities form a highly permeable interconnected joint network with a significant storage coefficient of the groundwater table. (b) Massive to blocky dolomite with an initial water pressure of 25 bar. The systematic discontinuities and disturbed zones of subsidiary structures with karst form a permeable, interconnected joint network. (c) The transition zone of the limestone to base structure marks the most challenging area for consolidation- and sealing grouting. Weak fault rocks characterize transition zones with intense fracturing. However, as subjected to high groundwater pressure of 10 bar, these zones are associated with the potential of flowing ground conditions. Based on the overall project requirements, specific drilling- and grouting methods and materials for pre-excavation grouting have been established and successfully implemented in the construction process. The innovations include a Standpipe-Packer substituting a conventional steel standpipe, a specifically cased drilling system with grouting inserts to prevent erosion within the borehole and allow for defined grouting. In addition, this Grouting-Pipe system replaces standard tube-à-manchettes and controls the flushing while drilling with preventers. Finally, a combined cement-polyurethane grout mix (Hybrid Grout) was implemented to stabilize the grout. The implementation of these measures will be discussed in detail, and their benefits to the construction process will be highlighted.

The purpose of the article is to introduce into scientific circulation new information regarding the attribution of portraits of unknown persons from the collection of the Chernivtsi Art Museum and to examine the process of studying these works. The methodology of this study involves the use of various methods: historical, systematic, verification of the received data, artistic, and comparative analysis, among others. The application of these scientific methods allowed to comprehensively and objectively study and systematise the information available in various sources regarding the studied paintings and discover the names of the portrait subjects. The scientific novelty of the research results consists in the fact that for the first time the stylistic features of the works were analysed, the similarity of museum paintings with portraits made by other European artists of the 18th century was revealed; the faces of the rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire depicted by artists, the time of execution and the provenance of the portraits were determined. Conclusions. The study of pictorial portraits that entered the collection of the Chernivtsi Art Museum, such as "Portrait of a Woman" and "Portrait of a Man" by unknown authors, began with an analysis of stylistics, which made it possible to roughly establish the time of the creation of images as the second half of the 18th century, when in the fine arts of Europe the rococo style prevailed and in some places overlapped with older traditions of creating ceremonial portraits, which were characterised by emphasised restraint and some conventionality and flatness in the interpretation of form. Further restoration and research of the works, in particular the features of the costume, attributes and awards in the portrait of a young man, allowed to assume that the portrait depicts members of one of the royal families of Europe. Comparative analysis revealed that the paintings from the museum's collection are ceremonial portraits of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria-Hungary (1717–1780) and her son Emperor Joseph II (1741–1790). The found analogies with similar works of European masters also helped to establish that the works of the court artists of these monarchs, in particular, Joseph Hickel and Anton von Maron, as well as the works of other artists, served as models for the portraits from the museum in Chernivtsi. The study of the biographies of the portrait subjects and the time of execution of the works, which became samples, also confirmed the preliminary dating of the works ‒ 1770s.
