Анотація:
The continuous improvement of current gravitational wave detectors (GWDs) and the preparations for next generation GWDs place high demands on their stabilized laser sources. Some of the laser sources need to operate at laser wavelengths between 1.5 μm and 2.2 μm to support future detectors based on cooled silicon test masses for thermal noise reduction. We present detailed characterizations of different commercial low power seed laser sources and power amplifiers at the wavelength of 1550 nm with respect to performance parameters needed in GWDs. A combination with the most complete set of actuators was arranged as a master-oscillator power amplifier (MOPA), integrated into a stabilization environment and characterized. We present the results of this characterization that make this stabilized MOPA a highly relevant prototype for future GWDs as well as a low noise light source for other experiments in high precision metrology.

We report on a 1064 nm master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) system based on pulse-modulated laser diode seed sources combined with fiber preamplifiers and a Yb-doped tapered double-clad fiber (T-DCF) amplifier used as an all-fiber master oscillator and a two-stage side-pumped solid-state power amplifier. The combination of two master oscillators and a single power amplifier allowed us to obtain pulses with a duration ranging from 10 ns to 10 μs with energy up to 137 mJ at 100 Hz. For the first time, we demonstrate a widely tunable pulse duration and a solid-state MOPA system with over 100 mJ energy based on a T-DCF fiber seed laser.

Several practical all-solid-state tunable ultraviolet subnanosecond laser sources have been developed based on Ce 3+: LiLuF 4 (Ce:LLF) and Ce 3+: LiCaAlF 6 (Ce:LiCAF) active media pumped by the fifth and fourth harmonics of a regular Q-switched 10-ns Nd:YAG laser, respectively. The demonstrated tuning range of the Ce:LiCAF oscillator providing reproducibly-single-pulse output was 282 nm to 314 nm with the maximum output energy of 1 mJ. Tunable laser output from 223 nm to 232 nm was obtained by sum-frequency-mixing Ce:LiCAF laser output with fundamental output of a Q-sw Nd:YAG laser. The maximum subnanosecond Ce:LiCAF single-pulse output of 14 mJ was obtained in a "master oscillator-power amplifier" (MOPA) configuration.

AbstractLateral velocity variations in the near-surface reflect the presence of buried geological or anthropic structures, and their identification is of interest for many fields of application. Surface wave tomography (SWT) is a powerful technique for detecting both smooth and sharp lateral velocity variations at very different scales. A surface-wave inversion scheme derived from SWT is here applied to a 2-D active seismic dataset to characterize the shape of an urban waste deposit in an old landfill, located 15 km South of Vienna (Austria). First, the tomography-derived inverse problem for the 2-D case is defined: under the assumption of straight rays at the surface connecting sources and receivers, the forward problem for one frequency reduces to a linear relationship between observed phase differences at adjacent receivers and wavenumbers (from which phase velocities are straightforwardly derived). A norm damping regularization constraint is applied to ensure a smooth solution in space: the choice of the damping parameter is made through a minimization process, by which only phase variations of the order of the average wavelength are modelled. The inverse problem is solved for each frequency with a weighted least-squares approach, to take into account the data error variances. An independent multi-offset phase analysis (MOPA) is performed using the same dataset, for comparison: pseudo-sections from the tomography-derived linear inversion and MOPA are very consistent, with the former giving a more continuous result both in space and frequency and less artefacts. Local dispersion curves are finally depth inverted and a quasi-2-D shear wave velocity section is retrieved: we identify a well-defined low velocity zone and interpret it as the urban waste deposit body. Results are consistent with both electrical and electromagnetic measurements acquired on the same line.

Анотація:
Methods and means of remote control of the ecological state of the atmosphere are constantly improving. Lidar sensing allows obtaining up-to-date information about natural and technogenic sources of atmospheric pollution. There is a wide range of problems in ecological control, where the deployment of an inexpensive mobile lidar network is required. For this purpose, it is suggested to use Q-switch and MOPA fiber lasers in lidars. Q-switch fiber lasers have a simpler design and are more practical to use. However, pulses from Q-switch lasers have long full-pulse durations. In the present work, a lidar signal inversion method (LSIM) is proposed for solving this problem. Verification and outdoor experimentation of the LSIM was carried out with the reference signal method (RSM). The advantage of the proposed RSM is the minimum number of controllable parameters necessary for LSIM verification and approbation. As a result, the accuracy of the obtained results increased. Thus, the possibility of application of the Q-switch fiber lasers for lidar sensing is shown both theoretically and experimentally.

Les travaux présentés dans ce manuscrit s’inscrivent dans le cadre d’une thèse CIFRE en collaboration entre le laboratoire XLIM et la compagnie industrielle des laser « CILAS ». L'objectif principal de cette thèse est l'étude et la conception de sources laser fibrées émettant en régime continu des faisceaux monomodes de puissance multi-kW. L'architecture « MOPA » (composée d’une oscillateur maître et d’un amplificateur de puissance), a été sélectionnée à l'aide de la bibliographie pour atteindre ces objectifs, puis a été réalisée à XLIM. En améliorant cette architecture, la source fibrée a délivré une puissance continue de 2 kW à la longueur d'onde de 1080 nm, un record atteint pour la première fois en France à notre connaissance. Grâce à ces résultats, un outil de simulation a été calibré puis a été utilisé afin d'identifier les limitations théoriques de cette architecture. Les modélisations ont ensuite permis de donner des propositions d’amélioration de cette architecture en fonction de la longueur d’onde de pompe, de la longueur d’onde du signal, de l’utilisation d’une autre fibre amplificatrice et de la répartition de la puissance de pompage dans les deux sens de propagation. Les résultats de simulation ont été comparés aux résultats expérimentaux obtenus à partir d’une source MOPA construite plus récemment à XLIM, ayant dépassé la puissance signal de 3 kW. Finalement, une dernière architecture plus simple, appelée MOPA "autosaturé", est simulée puis est réalisée au laboratoire. En exploitant une cavité instable temporellement et en associant, à la source, un étage de conversion de fréquence non-linéaire, la génération d’un supercontinuum d’une puissance de 40,7 W sur une largueur spectrale allant de 750 nm à 2200 nm à -30 dB a été démontrée. En perspective de ces travaux de thèse, une nouvelle étude numérique a indiqué qu’une telle source pourrait elle aussi atteindre jusqu’à 3 kW de puissance signal
This CIFRE thesis is a collaboration between the XLIM research laboratory and the industrial laser company "CILAS". The main objective of this work is to study and design high power fiber laser sources delivering a continuous wave single mode laser beam with an output power of several kW. To this end, the “MOPA” design (consisting a master oscillator stage and a power amplifier stage) was chosen from the literature and then has been built at XLIM. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time in France that 2 kW of continuous wave output power has been achieved at the signal wavelength of 1080 nm. Thanks to the experimental results, a simulation tool was calibrated and used to carry out a theoretical study of the limits of this laser source. This tool has also been used to propose some improvements of this architecture by changing the pump wavelength, the signal wavelength, the doped fiber and the combination of the pump power between the two directions of propagation. The results of the simulations were compared with the experimental results obtained from a new source reaching more than 3 kW of continuous wave power. Finally, another less complex design, called OAIFL, was calibrated using the simulation and then built. A supercontinuum was generated by exploiting the temporally unstable laser cavity, delivering a power of 40.7 W over a spectrum going from 750 nm to 2200 nm at - 30 dB. As a perspective, the simulation showed that the OAIFL source could be further amplified to reach up to 3 kW. Therefore, this laser source could be further developed in the future

Ce mémoire présente des travaux portant sur le développement de trois sources lasers pompées longitudinalement par diodes laser et déclenchées activement par modulateur électro-optique pour deux applications spécifiques : la LIBS et le marquage par laser. Ces travaux ont été réalisés en collaboration avec deux sociétés : Bertin Technologies et SDAE.Le premier chapitre de ce manuscrit présente le développement d’une nouvelle source laser compacte, réalisée pour la société Bertin Technologies dans le cadre d’un projet de tri de matériaux plastiques par analyse spectroscopique de plasma induit par laser (LIBS). Cette technique d’analyse ponctuelle ainsi que le contexte spécifique du projet sont détaillés dans la première partie de ce chapitre. Ensuite, les différentes étapes de recherche et de développement qui ont permis d’aboutir à cette nouvelle source laser innovante, compacte et de hautes performances seront décrites en détail. Le second chapitre présente le développement de deux sources lasers pour le marquage industriel réalisées en partenariat avec la société SDAE. Après avoir présenté les principes et techniques généraux de l’application marquage ainsi que les contraintes spécifiques au projet, les deux sources lasers développées seront décrites. This thesis deals with the development of three lasers end-pumped by laser diode and actively Q-Switched by electro-optic Pockels cells for two specific applications: Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) and marking. This work was done in collaboration with two companies: Bertin Technologies and SDAE.In the first part, we present the development of a new compact laser source, made for Bertin Technologies as part of sorting of plastics waste by LIBS. This analysis technique and the specific context of the project will be detailed in the first part of this chapter. Then, the different steps of research and development which have resulted in this innovative, compact and high performance new laser are described in detail. The second part is devoted to the development of lasers for industrial marking accomplished in partnership with SDAE. More precisely, the general principles and techniques of laser marking are described as well as the specific constraints of this project. LIBS and laser marking tests will be done with these lasers

This study aims to demonstrate the potential for understanding first millennium glass beads not as individual representatives of types, but as collections of objects brought together and curated by owners. It uses the author’s experience as a skilled bead maker to investigate processes of bead production and mechanics of bead collection current in Scandinavia and Anglo-Saxon England in the period of 6th to 9th century AD. In the study the bead collections of seven graves are examined from the perspective of their production techniques, materials, and damage from wear and cremation. The results point to beads being acquired in different numbers and often worn for long periods of time before being buried.

El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo principal determinar si existe una relación entre la actitud del consumidor hacia el anuncio y la intención de compra generada por el influenciador de moda en Instagram, para las MYPES en Lima Moderna. El panorama actual propone la implementación del “Influencer Marketing” como una estrategia impulsora frente a un mercado global en el cual el consumidor está más informado y confía en opiniones de expertos que brindan sus experiencias de moda. Surge entonces la necesidad de que las micro y pequeñas empresas logren comprender la importancia del Marketing Digital dentro de su plan estratégico, con el fin de incrementar su cartera de clientes y ser más competitivos en el mercado global. En base a ello, las MYPES en Lima moderna utilizarán influenciadores en redes sociales que generan mayor credibilidad en los usuarios. Sin embargo, en Lima Moderna aún existe indiferencia hacia el Marketing Digital. Es por ello que resulta fundamental lograr que las MYPES conozcan el efecto que tiene el Marketing Digital sobre el consumidor actual. También se buscó identificar quienes son los influenciadores de moda más seguidos por los jóvenes. Asimismo, a partir del análisis de regresión múltiple utilizado en la herramienta SPSS, se demostró que todas las variables usadas en el presente estudio influyen en la intención de compra.
The main objective of this research work is to determine if there is a relationship between the attitude of the consumer towards the advertisement and the purchase intention generated by the influence of fashion on Instagram, for the MYPES in Modern Lima. The current scenario proposes the implementation of "influence marketing" as an impulsive strategy against a global market in which the consumer is more informed and confident in the opinions of the experts who provide their fashion experiences. The need arises for micro and small companies to understand the importance of Digital Marketing within their strategic plan, in order to increase their client base and be more competitive in the global market. In this sense, the MYPES in Lima will used that strategy to improve the credibility of users. However, in Modern Lima there is still indifference towards Digital Marketing. That is why it is essential to achieve that the MYPES join the effect that Digital Marketing has on the current consumer. We also seek to identify who is the fashion influence most followed by young people. Likewise, from the multiple regression analysis used in the SPSS tool, it was shown that all the variables under study influence purchase intention.

Les gènes de la chaîne légère K se présentent, à l'état germinal, en quatre segments L, V, J et C. Après réarrangement par recombinaison, un des 300 gènes VK fusionne avec l'un des quatre segments JK fonctionnels. Une fois réarrangé, ce gène est sujet aux mutations somatiques, c'est-à-dire qu'un mécanisme localisé et propre aux gènes d'immunoglobuline provoque des mutations dans la région VJ. Le nombre des différents fragments, le réarrangement et les mutations somatiques sont des moyens efficaces d'accroître la diversité des anticorps. Pour apporter plus amples informations sur ces moyens de diversification, la caractérisation plus détaillée des gènes VK1, plus particulièrement VK1A, a été entreprise. Un des moyens d'y parvenir est le clônage et la séquence d'un gène de ce sous-groupe. Afin de clôner le gène réarrangé de la chaîne légère du myélôme MOPC-460, plusieurs étapes ont été franchies. Premièrement, l'identification du fragment d'ADN porteur du gène se fait à l'aide d'une sonde de la région VK1A (1.1) et une autre de la région JKCK. Deuxièmement, le montage d'une bibliothèque de phages et le criblage de cette bibliothèque sont effectués. Troisièmement, un clône est isolé et purifé, puis son ADN est extrait. Quatrièmement, le fragment isolé de l'ADN de phage est sous-clôné dans pBR 322 et une carte de restriction est faite. Et finalement, des fragments du gène sont sous-clônés dans M13 et séquencés. Les résultats obtenus, surtout la séquence de la région LVJK5, ont permis de classer définitivement la chaîne légère de MOPC-460 dans le sous-groupe VK1A, même si elle avait été classée VK1D auparavant (Lazure et al, 1981). Cette séuqence, en plus de lever les ambiguïtés laissées par la séquence protéique, révèle deux substitutions situées dans le V, aux résidus 45 et 86, par rapport à la séquence germinale (T-105). Ces substitutions proviennent certainement de mutations somatiques.

This work focuses on the analysis of the potentialities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) – the theory of computer systems capable of executing tasks that would demand the intervention of human intelligence – for companies operating in the fashion supply chain, identifying different capabilities and the applicability of this technology for problem solving and for creating and increasing value. In order to reach these objectives, an exploratory and qualitative research was conducted through the analysis of primary and secondary data, collected through external sources and structured interviews with qualified professionals in this industry. It was thus possible to identify AI applications and capabilities that may allow for the solving of some of the main challenges in the fashion supply chain. Hence, it was concluded that AI can be applied (1) in the generation of insights, particularly in the activities of design, sourcing, and marketing, through the use of capabilities such as Clustering, Prediction, Natural Language Understanding, and Image Recognition; (2) in processes optimization, especially in the areas of production, logistics, and distribution, through the use of capabilities such as Image Recognition, Search and Optimization; and, (3) in consumer experience improvement, of potential use to retail, through capabilities such as Image Recognition, Speech Recognition, Search, Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Optimization, and Prediction. By applying AI in solving supply chain problems, fashion companies may benefit from enhanced performance and productivity, which ultimately has a positive impact on the evolution and growth of the fashion industry.
Este trabalho foca-se na análise das potencialidades da Inteligência Artificial (IA) – teoria de sistemas de computadores capaz de realizar tarefas que exigiriam a intervenção da inteligência humana – para empresas operantes na cadeia de valor da moda, identificando diferentes capacidades e aplicabilidades desta tecnologia para a resolução de problemas e para a criação e incremento de valor. Para atingir estes objetivos, foi desenvolvido um trabalho de pesquisa do tipo exploratório e qualitativo, através da análise de informação primária e secundária, recolhida através de fontes externas e de entrevistas estruturadas a profissionais qualificados desta indústria. Foi, assim, possível identificar aplicações e capacidades da IA que podem conduzir à resolução de alguns dos desafios da cadeia de valor da moda. Deste modo, concluiu-se que a IA pode ser aplicada (1) na geração de insights, particularmente nas atividades do design, exploração e desenvolvimento, e marketing, através do uso de capacidades como, por exemplo, Clustering, Prediction, Natural Language Understanding (NLU) e Image Recognition; (2) na otimização de processos, principalmente nas áreas da produção, logística e distribuição, através do uso de capacidades como Image Recognition, Search e Optimization; e, (3) no melhoramento da experiência do consumidor, com potencial principalmente para o retalho, através de capacidades como Image Recognition, Speech Recognition, Search, Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Optimization e Prediction. Digital Influencers are taking advantage of social media rise to position themselves as effective brand communicators. Hence, brands are betting on Influencer Endorsement as a communication strategy, since it has been proved before how powerful that can be in shaping consumers’ choices. Additionally, the market for sustainable fashion brands is gaining strength due to the raising of social and environmental concerns. However, brands are facing the challenge of choosing the right Influencer to endorse them since not all fit the brand and the product. This research aims to understand the impact that a high-fit between the Influencer and the Cause, as opposed to low-fit, has on Purchase Intention and Brand Attitude towards conscious fashion brands. Moreover, this study explores how do these effects take place with Source Credibility, Source Attractiveness, Product Match-up, and Meaning Transfer being analyzed. An experimental design was implemented to test and compare the differences between high versus low Influencer-cause fit, through an online questionnaire, and 335 valid responses were collected. The main findings show that Influencer’s high-fit with the cause has a higher and significant effect on Purchase Intention and Brand Attitude. Moreover, Source Credibility, Source Attractiveness, and Meaning Transfer are positive and significantly correlated with Purchase Intention and Brand Attitude. Regarding Product Match-up, it is positive and significantly correlated with Purchase Intentions but not with Brand Attitude. Lastly, Source Attractiveness cannot be a possible explaining factor for Brand Attitude since it did not present a significantly higher effect on the high-fit scenario for this construct.

This comment points out the medieval precedents of many developments characterized as new in the early modern manufacture, sale, and consumption of fashionable textiles and clothing, although these developments were more rapid and intense in the later centuries. There was, for example, a significant break in the traditional process of technological innovations in the second half of the eighteenth century, when a series of complementary inventions radically improved the production and quality of textiles. In terms of commercial strategies and consumer behavior, however, there was less significant change, although the role of the second-hand trade deserves closer attention. The comment ends by highlighting how speakers have drawn on new methodologies and sources fo understanding the relationship between fashion and the economy

In the eighteenth century, fashion constituted a fundamental criterion for consumption for broader parts of the European (and Viennese) population. This article investigates, through various sources, like probate inventories, fashion magazines and pattern books, the consumption of clothes and accessories of female servants in the period 1760-1823 and associates it with debates on their appearance at the time. It compares their wardrobes to those of a broad part of the Viennese female middle-class population, and examines the relation of their wardrobes to fashion, notably in the period of the emergence of Viennese fashion. Finally, it investigates whether female servants could function as intermediaries of the prevalent fashion between the elites and this middle stratum, and, consequently, as trendsetters for this group.

Our research compares guild ordinances, judicial proceedings, technical manuals of dyeing and especially fiscal sources in the Valencian archives to check the fashion trends on the colour of silks fabrics during the 15th-16th centuries in relation to what was happening in the European market at that time. The silk declarations in Valencia city from 1475 to 1513 makes it possible to establish a database of 3,871 fiscal registers with more than 90,000 meters of Valencian textiles (100,220 varas or alnes). The 73.47 percent of them was in black. This colour was also fashionable in the silk industry of Genoa, from where there was an important technological transfer to Valencia through the immigration of technical masters, workers and specialized businessmen.

This chapter analyses the influence of contemporary ideals of valour, physical strength, and martial skill on male court fashions. It outlines the various channels that enabled the propagation of martial styles and begins by examining the close relationship between inner valour and outward display, highlighting the meanings ascribed to the words “bravo” and “bravura” in sixteenth-and seventeenth-century Italian texts and imagery. Florentine courtiers were surrounded by idealised representations and performances of warfare, including mock battles with lavish costumes that were a key feature of Medici propaganda. Soldiers and mercenaries were themselves frequently characterised as fashion setters, associated with gaudy colours, flamboyance, and ornate decorations considered inappropriate male attire in many civic contexts. The chapter proceeds to focus on three key aspects of male dress connected with military might and physical strength: leather upper garments, frogged fastenings on cloaks and gowns, and adherent, short trunk hose. Consumer demand for these styles and their cultural meanings are traced through contemporary literature, visual sources, and archival records.

Surprisingly little is known about the way the poor strata of urban society in the late medieval period used dress to express social identities. Systematic empirical data have not been available, and sources tend to illustrate the opinion of the elites about poverty. Through the analysis of cloth distribution by charitable institutions and, above all, of a unique set of inventories for fifteenth-century Bruges, it becomes clear that dress was not only an important element in the material culture and the construction of social identity of the poor, but that instead of being a passive player depending on charity and alternative commercial circuits, the poor used dress to conform to fashion cycles set by the wealthier groups in urban society. In late medieval Bruges, they were wearing the same typology of dress, the same colours and the same fabrics, displaying in this way a willingness to participate and invest in fashion cycles. In assessing both urban economies and social dialogue, scholars should therefore not focus on elite demand alone.

This chapter describes and briefly evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the sources of evidence on voluntary action used in this book, and the challenges faced when using a mixed-methods approach. The chapter discusses the derivation of quantitative estimates of levels of volunteering and considers the challenges in analysing volunteering levels over time due to of variations in methodology and discontinuities in the availability of survey data. The chapter goes on to describe the source of qualitative data, writing undertaken by Mass Observation Project (MOP) volunteer writers and considers the advantages and limitations of this source. The chapter proceeds to a discussion of the challenges of mixed-methods work using these diverse sources. While MOP respondents can clearly be said to be active citizens, by the same token, this means that they are not typical of the general population, when compared to national social surveys drawing on respondents who are representative of the population. The chapter concludes with a discussion of how the various datasets are brought into dialogue with one another, and of the value of mixing data and methods of analysis.

Hate Speech during the COVID-19 pandemic was primarily experienced by healthcare professionals, patients who had been diagnosed with SARS Cov-2 infection and police officers. Moreover, reports indicate that xenophobic, racist and anti-Semitic attitudes and verbal attacks had suddenly intensified. They seem to have been connected with blaming certain social and ethnic groups for spreading the virus. The language used in media space, for example conversations and interviews, was often full of vulgarity, and aggression, which sometimes led to destruction of private property as well as physical violence. There was clearly a general lack of calm, reflection, kindness and appeal to reliable sources, and no attempt to correct certain stereotypes, myths and errors as well as showing at least some empathy for the suffering, which could have been an antidote for hate speech, not only during pandemic but also in post-pandemic times.

Jan Matejko (1838–1893) was not only a historical painter but also an eminent portraitist. He was capable of rendering character traits and emotional states of people being portrayed in exceptional way. The artist perceived the essence of the portrait in showing the full knowledge of the man. The early portraits are mainly images of relatives and friends. He performed many portraits on request. Matejko created also his own portraits, beginning with these early ones painted at the age of ten or so through the student’s period up to those ones created in the final years of his life. In addition to these effigies, Matejko gave his own facial features and images of his nearest and dearest to the characters appearing in his works. Significant decorations, awards at the European exhibitions, serving on artistic and scientific assemblies, popularity of his works contributed to the constant interest in his person. Fashionable life style of the Matejko family as well as „the fashion for the painter” will be presented in the view of existing epistolographical sources, memoirs, the artist’s wife niece’s diary as well as the log kept by the secretary of Matejko.

This paper presents a new data fusion multiscale observation product (MOP) for flood emergencies. The MOP was created by integrating multiple sources of contributed open-source data with traditional spaceborne remote sensing imagery to provide a sequence of high spatial and temporal resolution flood inundation maps. The study focuses on the 2015 Memorial Day floods that caused up to US$61 million of damage. The Hydraulic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) model was used to simulate water surfaces for the northern part of the Trinity River in Dallas, using reservoir surcharge releases and topographic data provided by the US Army Corps of Engineers. A measure of fit assessment is performed on the MOP flood maps with the HEC-RAS simulated flood inundation output to quantify spatial differences. Estimating possible flood inundation using individual datasets that vary spatially and temporally allow an understanding of how much each observational dataset contributes to the overall water estimation. Results show that water surfaces estimated by MOP are comparable with the simulated output for the duration of the flood event. Additionally, contributed data, such as Civil Air Patrol, although they may be geographically sparse, become an important data source when fused with other observation data.

Field crews recently collected more than 10 years of classification and mapping data in support of the North Coast and Cascades Inventory and Monitoring Network (NCCN) vegetation maps of Mount Rainier (MORA), Olympic (OLYM), and North Cascades (NOCA) National Parks. Synthesis and analysis of these 6000+ plots by Washington Natural Heritage Program (WNHP) and Institute for Natural Resources (INR) staff built on the foundation provided by the earlier classification work of Crawford et al. (2009). These analyses provided support for most of the provisional plant associations in Crawford et al. (2009), while also revealing previously undescribed vegetation types that were not represented in the United States National Vegetation Classification (USNVC). Both provisional and undescribed types have since been submitted to the USNVC by WNHP staff through a peer-reviewed process. NCCN plots were combined with statewide forest and wetland plot data from the US Forest Service (USFS) and other sources to create a comprehensive data set for Washington. Analyses incorporated Cluster Analysis, Nonmetric Multidimensional Scaling (NMS), Multi-Response Permutation Procedure (MRPP), and Indicator Species Analysis (ISA) to identify, vet, and describe USNVC group, alliance, and association distinctions. The resulting revised classification contains 321 plant associations in 99 alliances. A total of 54 upland associations were moved through the peer review process and are now part of the USNVC. Of those, 45 were provisional or preliminary types from Crawford et al. (2009), with 9 additional new associations that were originally identified by INR. WNHP also revised the concepts of 34 associations, wrote descriptions for 2 existing associations, eliminated/archived 2 associations, and created 4 new upland alliances. Finally, WNHP created 27 new wetland alliances and revised or clarified an additional 21 as part of this project (not all of those occur in the parks). This report and accompanying vegetation descriptions, keys and synoptic and environmental tables (all products available from the NPS Data Store project reference: https://irma.nps.gov/DataStore/Reference/Profile/2279907) present the fruit of these combined efforts: a comprehensive, up-to-date vegetation classification for the three major national parks of Washington State.
