Due to our materiality, we are woven into this reality and cannot deny the land we belong to a morsel of bread or love that fills our being. Epicurus has believed that all people have a right to happiness through philosophical exploration, as only through philosophical exploration can we realize our aspiration and reach our goal - life in pleasure, without pain, life filled with happiness. Epicurus, like Zhuangzi, has had a strong need to demonstrate that it is necessary for us to know ourselves, our very essence. Zhuangzi, having been aware of the illusions into which we "lull ourselves", has come to the realization that this is not only undesirable but also impossible. There are just endless transformations of things (wu hua 物化), as the only certainties for human beings. Changes of state and form are our constant companions in life. Nothing can stop and steady this profound and distressing cosmic play.

This article is fundamentally based on two seminal texts by Franklin Leopoldo e Silva that represent an essential contribution in my philosophical path and especially in the understanding that I have developed and continue to develop of Bergsonian philosophy. In my view, such texts illuminate, like few great texts, Bergson's originality, importance and potency for contemporary thought. In dialogue with these two texts, I associate, predominantly, texts by Bergson himself and other texts by Leopoldo e Silva, trying to point out, from there, the value of their philosophies in our formation by integrating thought, life and history.

Turismaktiviteter till havs har kommit att få ett ökat intresse de senaste åren, där människor har upptäckt fördelen med kryssningsfärjor som transportmedel. De erbjuder ett varierat utbud av aktiviteter och upplevelser ombord, som både privat- och affärsresenärer kan ta del av. Detta omfattar flera kundgrupper med olika behov, vilket innebär att rederierna måste uppfylla kundernas förväntningar och vad de efterfrågar. I nuläget finns det en bred konkurrens på marknaden, där de olika aktörerna försöker skapa en egen nisch genom olika marknadsföringsstrategier i syfte att skapa långsiktiga relationer. Syftet med vår studie är att utreda hur Stockholms tre största rederier, Tallink Silja AB, Viking Line AB och Birka Cruises AB, arbetar för att behålla och vårda sina befintliga resenärer, samt vilka strategier som används för att nå nya kundsegment. Vi har även utgått ifrån kundens perspektiv för att undersöka hur de förhåller sig till företagens produkter och tjänster. Studien baseras på intervjuer med ledningsgruppen på respektive bolag, samt kundundersökningar. Relevanta teorier har valts ut för att analysera hur marknadsföringsstrategier i teorin stämmer överens med verkligheten. Trots att de undersökta kryssningsbolagen erbjuder likartade produkter och tjänster, visade resultatet att företagens affärsidé och varumärke skapade ett specifikt behov hos deras kunder. Detta medförde att företagets marknadsföringsstrategier var utmärkande på individnivå och därmed skapades ingen hög konkurrens mellan de berörda kryssningsbolagen. Samtliga rederier är under utveckling, där de fortfarande arbetar med att ständigt utveckla och anpassa sina kunderbjudanden för att bli ledande aktörer på marknaden. För att åstadkomma detta måste företaget upprätthålla sina imageskapande idéer genom att behålla bra service och erbjuda den kvalité som kunderna efterfrågar.

För att särskilja sig från konkurrenterna på marknaden behöver företag idag ett unikt koncept som gör att konsumenterna uppfattar företagets produkter och tjänster som pålitliga och tillfredsställande. Varumärken har fått en allt större betydelse i konsumenternas val av ett företags produkter och tjänster. Detta beror troligtvis på att konsumenter handlar allt mer emotionellt snarare än rationellt, vilket grundar sig i att de vill självförverkliga sig själva. Ett varumärkes styrka och dess värde för ett företag kan mätas på ett flertal sätt. I detta arbete utgår vi från en teoretisk modell som beaktar tre begrepp (profil, image och identitet) vilka i sin helhet bör överensstämma för att ett varumärke ska kunna klassificeras som starkt. I denna uppsats har vi undersökt och jämfört kryssningsföretagen Tallink Silja ABs och Viking Line ABs varumärken genom att studera huruvida företagens profil, image och identitet överensstämmer. Kryssningsbranschen är en växande del av turismindustrin, varför vi ansåg det valda ämnet aktuellt och intressant att undersöka. Val av företag grundas på deras liknande utbud och koncept. Vidare har vi studerat kundernas lojalitet till företaget, för att se om lojaliteten gentemot dem är något som skiljer företagen åt. För att undersöka de tre begreppen används metodtriangulering i form av två intervjuer, observation av företagens webbplats och reklambild utifrån aktuell reklamkampanj samt två enkätundersökningar med sammanlagt 101 respondenter. Efter avslutad studie finner vi att företagens profil, image och identitet i sin helhet överensstämmer och att de undersökta företagen på så vis har starka varumärken. Dock är detta något som i sig inte är särdeles uppseendeväckande i och med att båda företagen har breda profiler. Med detta avses att det inte spelar någon roll huruvida företagens image bland kunderna är splittrad, eftersom den ändå kommer att överensstämma med en del av profilerna då dessa är så pass breda. Vidare tyder enkätundersökningarna på att det inte råder någon avsevärd skillnad mellan företagen då respondenterna varken kunde ange någon skillnad mellan företagen, eller kunde svara på varför de valde det ena företaget framför det andra. Avslutningsvis pekar undersökningen mot att varumärket inte har någon betydelse för kundens val av kryssningsresa, vilket vi tror kan bero på att det kan råda en viss förvirring kring begreppet varumärke. Vår åsikt är emellertid att varumärkets vikt skulle kunna tillskrivas större betydelse i praktiken i framtiden och att det därför är viktigt att arbeta med att ständigt utveckla och vårda detta.If a company is to differentiate itself on a competitive market, a unique concept is required. This helps the consumers regard the company’s products or services as reliable and satisfying. Brands are becoming increasingly important for the costumers engaged in the buying process. This is probably a reaction to the fact that a consumer act emotionally, rather than solely rationally, in a way to fulfil one self. The strength and value of a brand can be measured multiple ways. The main focus of this paper has been to examine two well-known brands in the Baltic cruise industry using the theoretical concepts of corporate profile, corporate image and corporate identity. If these concepts come together, the company brand can be regarded as strong and functional. The work in this essay was limited to investigating two cruising companies operating in and from Stockholm, Sweden; Tallink Silja AB and Viking Line AB. The paper aimed to explore the constituents of the brands, first separately and then compared to one another, in order to recognise similarities and differences between the two companies. We have furthermore studied customer loyalty as a way to reach a conclusion about the subject itself. The cruising industry is a growing sector of the tourism industry and therefore we found the subject both current and interesting to investigate. The investigation has been divided into several phases and different methods have been applied, since surveys, interviews and own observations of websites and commercial pictures, have all been a part of the empirical data gathering process. This in addition to the theoretical framework based on scientific articles and books covering the subject. In the concluding chapter we establish that the companies’ profiles, images’ and identities over all do match, and that the companies therefore both have strong brands. We don’t find this fact remarkable however since both companies have broad profiles. This means that even if the image among the customers is divided, a part of the image will always support the profiles since they are both covering a wide range of factors. The survey also showed that there is no big, apparent difference between the companies and even though the brand doesn’t seem to be of a great importance for the customers when choosing a cruising company, we as writers think this could be an effect of the complexity of the concept brand itself. However, we estimate that the importance of brands will grow bigger in the future since the cruise market is constantly changing and facing new obstacles/opportunities.

This essay presents the life and works for solo piano of Portuguese composer and pianist Óscar da Silva (1870–1958). It is the first publication dedicated solely to Óscar da Silva in the English language. It also presents the first chronological catalogue of da Silva’s solo piano works. It includes both published and unpublished works, encompassing all of the extant music available in several libraries in Portugal. Óscar da Silva studied with Adolf Ruthardt and Carl Reinecke in Leipzig and with Clara Schumann in Frankfurt. He was the most prolific composer of piano music of his generation in Portugal, and one of the most prolific ever in Portuguese piano music. His life is marked by the end of the monarchy in Portugal, the rise and fall of the first republic, and by Estado Novo. His music ranges from German romanticism to modernism. His works are also emblematic of saudosism, a Portuguese nationalistic movement not previously studied in music.

The purpose of this study is to examine how Viking Line, Tallink Silja and Birka Cruises work with economic and environmental sustainability, and also to see how they work with new environmental legislations. In 2015 a new environmental legislation will be introduced, by the name Sulphur directive. The Sulphur directive entails a reduction in Sulphur dioxide emissions from ships where the emissions cannot exceed 0,1 percent. There are three alternatives to achieve the new environmental legislation, the use of Marine Gas Oil, LNG or scrubbers. All three alternatives will lead to increasing costs for the shipping industry. The three companies exerts its shipping traffic in the Baltic Sea, a sea that is highly sensitive to external impacts. In the study qualitative methods were used, three personal interviews and five telephone interviews. Five theories were used to understand how the companies work, their estimations and their decisions: Strategic Tourism Planning Process, the Triple Bottom Line, the COSO model, The Decision-making Process and Responsible Cruise Tourism. The results of the study show that all three companies are facing an uncertain economic sustainable future and the deciding factors will be technological development, fuel prices and competitiveness.

Esta Disserta??o descreve a aplica??o do m?todo das Diferen?as Finitas no Dom?nio do Tempo (FDTD ? Finite Difference Time Domain) para a an?lise de filtros fabricados em linhas de microfita para a faixa de micro-ondas. O m?todo FDTD 3-D, desenvolvido em linguagem C, implementa condi??es de contorno com o uso da t?cnica PML (Perfect Matched Layer), permitindo a determina??o num?rica dos campos eletromagn?ticos com uma menor interfer?ncia das reflex?es indesej?veis nos limites da malha FDTD. A fim de comparar os resultados obtidos com o m?todo FDTD, o software comercial Ansoft DesignerTM tamb?m ? usado para simula??o dos filtros abordados. Cinco prot?tipos foram constru?dos e caracterizados experimentalmente com o uso de um analisador de redes vetorial, Agilent N5230A. Estes resultados num?ricos e experimentais s?o usados para a compara??o do m?todo FDTD 3-D desenvolvido. O m?todo FDTD foi aplicado para an?lise de um filtro passa-baixa em linha de microfita, de filtros DGS (Defected Ground Structure) unit?rios e peri?dicos e de um filtro spur-line. Os resultados de simula??o foram concordantes com os experimentos realizados com um erro m?ximo de 4,8% para os filtros abordados. Atrav?s de varia??es na malha FDTD, uma an?lise de desempenho do m?todo FDTD foi realizada em termos de precis?o e esfor?o computacional.

This paper focuses on the trajectory and work of artist Bezerra da Silva. From these, it seeks to discuss the daily life of the Carioca and Baixada Fluminense hills in the 1980s and 1990s. Bezerra migrated from Brazilian Northeast (Recife) in order to try his luck in the Cidade Maravilhosa, where he lived in the Cantagalo Hill for more than twenty years, establishing bonds with the residents. In Rio de Janeiro he faced an arduous work, performing different activities (building assistant, painter...). With persistence, he crossed obstacles to improve his musical gift, until realizing the dream of becoming a musician, acting in orchestras and gathering contacts that made possible the development of his career as a singer and composer. Very creative, he began his career interpreting cocos to later succeed with samba, representing the so-called samba malandro or partido-alto. The specificity of his work is that it has a collective character, the songs that he interpreted or were his own (few in partnership with other composers) or they incorporated the participation of composers (254) who approached the daily themes of the hills, favelas and suburbs. As embodiment of the persona of "ambassador of the hills and favelas," Bezerra made a commitment to be a chronicler of the experiences of the residents of these areas, addressing topics such as violence, police torture, legal inequalities, drugs, crimes and criminals. These issues generated criticism and controversy, and his work was characterized as "sambandido", from which he came to be seen as a defender of bandits and even drug users, a title that he vehemently refuted throughout his career. Bezerra was misunderstood in his originality, in the central motto of expressing and exposing the experiences of these communities, from which themes emerged marked by indignation, criticisms of the needs, violence and inequalities faced by these residents, as well as by the resistance actions emerging in these territories
Esta dissertação tem como focos centrais a trajetória e a obra do artista Bezerra da Silva. A partir delas busca-se problematizar o cotidiano dos morros cariocas e da Baixada Fluminense nas décadas de 1980 e 1990. Bezerra migrou do Nordeste (Recife) para tentar a sorte na Cidade Maravilhosa, onde viveu no Morro do Cantagalo por mais de vinte anos, instituindo vínculos com os moradores. No Rio de Janeiro enfrentou um cotidiano árduo de trabalho, exercendo diferentes atividades (auxiliar de obras, pintor...). Com persistência, transpôs obstáculos para aprimorar seu dom musical, até realizar o sonho de se tornar músico, atuando em orquestras e angariando contatos que possibilitaram o desenvolvimento da sua carreira como cantor e compositor. Muito criativo, iniciou sua trajetória interpretando cocos para, posteriormente, fazer sucesso com o samba, representando o chamado samba malandro ou de partido-alto. A especificidade da sua obra é que ela possui um caráter coletivo, as canções que interpretava ou eram de sua autoria (poucas em parceria com outros compositores) ou envolviam a participação de compositores (254) que abordavam a temática do cotidiano nos morros, favelas e subúrbios. Ao encarnar a persona de ―embaixador dos morros e favelas‖, Bezerra assumiu o compromisso de ser um cronista das experiências dos seus moradores, ao abordar temáticas como violência, tortura policial, desigualdades jurídicas, drogas, crimes e criminosos. Essas questões geraram críticas e polêmicas, e sua obra foi caracterizada como ―sambandido‖, a partir da qual passou a ser visto como defensor de bandidos e até de usuários de drogas, título que ele refutou veementemente no decorrer de sua carreira. Bezerra foi incompreendido na sua originalidade, no mote central de expressar e expor as vivências dessas comunidades, de onde surgiam temáticas marcadas por indignação, críticas às carências, violências e desigualdades enfrentadas por esses moradores, bem como pelas ações de resistência emergentes nesses territórios

Esta dissertação de mestrado possui como tema o estudo conjunto da obra de Maria Helena Vieira da Silva e Arpad Szenes, um casal de artistas atuantes no contexto da moderna École de Paris, sendo que viveram exilados no Brasil na década de 1940, ante as circunstâncias da 2ª Guerra Mundial. A obra de Vieira da Silva centra-se nas fronteiras do diálogo pictórico entre tempo e espaço ou, mais especificamente, na tensão dialética entre a construção e a desconstrução da perspectiva. Por sua vez, Arpad Szenes possui uma reconhecida série de obras nas quais retrata a esposa em momentos cotidianos, incluindo-se as ocasiões em que ela se dedica à atividade criadora. O dueto de poéticas empreendido pelo casal, além de promover um questionamento “metalinguístico” da pintura entre o tradicional e o moderno, nos permite tecer ressignificações sobre a interface arte/vida. Ao retratar Vieira da Silva em seus momentos de ateliê, Arpad Szenes traduz o pensamento plástico da artista sob seu olhar, na criação de um “mito” que reconta a sua história junto com a esposa, viabilizando a construção de uma pintura compartilhada. Tal compartilhamento se origina no diálogo da obra do casal entre si, mas se reforça nas produções de poetas, críticos e escritores, os quais constituem um círculo de convivência artístico-cultural em torno dos dois artistas, nos moldes das sociabilidades do modernismo. Na riqueza das trocas de experiências e produções, a arte revela sua melhor interface, pela valorização do instante cotidiano. Arma-se um cenário em que a materialidade do espaço se une à temporalidade subjetiva da memória, de onde a obra de Vieira e Szenes emerge como caso exemplar.
The theme of this masters dissertation is the joint study of Maria Helena Vieira da Silva and Arpad Szenes´s work, artists who were a couple, active in the context of the modern École de Paris, having lived exiled in Brazil during the 1940s, due to the Second World War. Vieira da Silva´s work focuses on the borders of pictorial dialogue between time and space or, more specifically, on the dialectic tension between the construction and the deconstruction of perspective. In turn, Arpad Szenes has a recognized series of works where he portrays the wife on everyday moments, including occasions that she dedicates herself to creative activities. The poetics‟ duet undertaken by the couple, beyond promoting a “metalinguistic” questioning of painting between traditional and modern, allows us to weave new meanings for the interface art/life. By portraying Vieira da Silva in her atelier moments, Arpad Szenes translates the artist´s plastic thinking under his gaze, on the creation of a “myth” that retells his story with his wife, enabling the construction of a shared painting. Such sharing originates on the dialogue between the couple´s works, but it is reinforced on the poets´ productions, critics and writers, what constitutes a circle of artistic-cultural acquaintanceship around the two artists, in the shapes of modernism´s sociability. In this rich exchange of experiences and productions, the art reveals its best interface, by the appreciation of everyday instant. A scenario is set up where space´s materiality joins memory‟s subjective temporality, from where Vieira da Silva and Szenes´ work emerges as an exemplar case.

In this reflection, Sofia Matos Silva explores various approaches to immortality in science fiction. Toying with the literal meanings of immortality, eternity and timelessness, theoretical physics is used to acknowledge that, at some point on the universe's trajectory (an unfathomable number of years in the future) even matter itself will not be a possibility. Regardless of whether humanity manages to prolong its organic life by slowing senescence or finds a way to transfer itself to a digital counterpart, this is a deep time game. Just short of falling on gloomy or nihilistic thinking, the present reflection aims to provide an alternative to humanity's obsession with eternity as a life purpose by showing how our existence as a species is a wonder in itself and should be lived (and honoured) as such.

AbstractResilient cities are able to persist, grow, and even transform while keeping their essential identities in the face of external forces like climatechange, which threatens lives, livelihoods, and the structures and processes of the urban environment (United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, How to make cities more resilient: a handbook for local government leaders. Switzerland, Geneva, 2017). Scenario development is a novel approach to visioning resilient futures for cities. As an instrument for synthesizing data and envisioning urban futures, scenarios combine diverse datasets such as biophysical models, stakeholder perspectives, and demographic information (Carpenter et al. Ecol Soc 20:10, 2015). As a tool to envision alternative futures, participatoryscenario development explores, identifies, and evaluates potential outcomes and tradeoffs associated with the management of social–ecological change, incorporating multiple stakeholder’s collaborative subjectivity (Galafassi et al. Ecol Soc 22:2, 2017). Understanding the current landscape of city planning and governance approaches is important in developing city-specific scenarios. In particular, assessing municipal planning strategies through the lens of interactive social–ecological–technological systems (SETS) provides useful insight into the dynamics and interrelationships of these coupled systems (da Silva et al. Sustain Dev 4(2):125–145, 2012). An assessment of existing municipal strategies can also be used to inform future adaptation scenarios and strategic plans addressing extreme weather events. With the scenario development process guiding stakeholders in generating goals and visions through participatory workshops, the content analysis of governance planning documents from the SETS perspective provides key insight on specific strategies that have been considered (or overlooked) in cities. In this chapter, we (a) demonstrate an approach to examine how cities define and prioritize climate adaptation strategies in their governance planning documents, (b) examine how governance strategies address current and future climate vulnerabilities as exemplified by nine cities in North and Latin America where we conducted a content analysis of municipal planning documents, and (c) suggest a codebook to explore the diverse SETS strategies proposed to address climate challenges—specifically related to extreme weather events such as heat, drought, and flooding.

In this chapter, Débora Maria da Silva gives testimony to the disappearance and killing of her son Edson on 15 May 2006 in Santos, São Paulo, Brazil. His death occurred as part of what has been termed the ‘May Crimes’ in which state security forces have been implicated in the murder and enforced disappearance of hundreds of youths in that month alone. Mothers, like Débora Maria da Silva, organised the May Mothers group to seek investigation and redress for the crimes they call a genocide of young, poor, black youths. Because state authorities deem these victims to be criminals, not because of their acts but because of what they look like and where they live, they become ‘disposable’. Mothers have transformed their personal loss into collective action to demand an end to the violence, investigation into deaths and disappearance, and justice for wrongdoing.

This chapter discusses the life of John de Silva, the founder of the Sinhala nationalist theatre and the third communications innovator (besides Dharmapala and Sirisena). It also examines in detail de Silva’s interpretation of the sociocultural crisis of colonialism during that period and looks at his efforts to counter it through the nationalist propaganda in his works. The author analysis two of de Silva’s plays: Sinhala Parabhava Natakaya, which talks about the sociocultural crisis of Sinhalese Buddhists as seen by the revivalists, and Sri Wickrama Rajasinha, which confronts the consequences of colonialism in terms of his revivalist philosophy.

This chapter deals with the link between the new style of samba and a Brazilian popular culture figure, the malandro (hustler). The word malandro was used in Brazil in a variety of contexts to refer to people who made their living by engaging in activities that were at the fringes of legality or predominant notions of morality. At this moment of transition to the new style of samba, the idea that its representatives were malandros was widespread in popular culture. This chapter proposes an interpretation of the relationship between samba and malandros by analyzing samba lyrics of the period, including the work of Sinhô, Ismael Silva, Bide, Noel Rosa, and Heitor dos Prazeres. The romanticizing of the malandro way of life is seen as part of a professionalizing strategy employed by sambistas.

This chapter focuses on the norms that lead to qualifying marriage as permitted versus “incestuous” (incorrect or prohibited) in the Ye’kwana marriage system. The Ye’kwana live in lowland South America/Amazonia, have a Dravidian kinship system, and a very high proportion of incestuous marriages. This chapter works with a rich data base; 200 marriages drawn from 2,366 people of whom 820 marriages were registered. The material collected by Silva Monterrey, together with that collected by de Barandiarán in the 1950s, shows that over a quarter of marriages were incestuous and that this pattern is old. Moreover, variations in the frequency of incestuous marriages cannot be explained as a consequence of demographic changes. One could not hope for a firmer demonstration of the importance of looking beyond the formal rules of marriage and exploring actual behaviour. Silva Monterrey throws down the challenge and asks, why do the Ye’kwana apparently commit marital incest with such astounding frequency?

O artigo apresenta o projeto “Jovens Autores”, desenvolvido por professores (Filosofia, Artes, Língua Portuguesa e Literatura) e estudantes da Escola de Educação Básica Bertino Silva, município de Leoberto Leal, Santa Catarina. As intervenções pedagógicas visam atender as orientações do currículo escolar BNCC (Base Nacional Comum Curricular), para o NEM (Novo Ensino Médio) e fundamentadas em Demo (2015), que tem como foco superar o aluno passivo e ouvinte para o aluno ativo, autor e protagonista. Relata e analisa a experiência de escrever e publicar o livro “Cuidado!(Não) Pensar Pode Ser Perigoso”, a partir de questionário on-line aberto disponibilizado aos estudantes e na perspectiva dos professores organizadores. Destaca a experiência como exitosa, apresentando habilidades necessárias para o século XXI, tais como o pensamento crítico, argumentação, comunicação e a colaboração.

This chapter explores the construction of Isabel of Portugal's reputation as a sick and melancholic dowager and considers the reasons behind her retirement from court. It disentangles and debunks the elements of legend that were later added to the narrative of Isabel's distress. It also examines her allegedly fraught relationship with one of her ladies-in-waiting, Beatriz da Silva, who was eventually canonized. The hagiographic narratives written to promote Beatriz's order and her canonization present a violently jealous and insane Isabel pushing Beatriz toward sainthood. The chapter explores the chronicles and hagiographic texts of the time that deprived Beatriz and Isabel the agency they had in real life.

Based on two experimental works of the artist Henrique Silva, the authors analyze and reflect on the relationship of technology, art and virtuality, focusing on concepts like experience, sensory, immersion, communication and interaction in artworks created through digital media.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo compartilhar parte de uma pesquisa realizada em uma escola pública que aproximou arte, escola e universidade. A pesquisa teve como objetivo compreender os interesses dos alunos das Etapas Finais de Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) e foi realizada na Escola Municipal Expedicionário Aquino de Araújo, em Duque de Caxias, Estado do Rio de Janeiro. A produção audiovisual é fruto da parceria da escola com o Laboratório de Recursos Audiovisuais da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, campus Duque de Caxias, Faculdade de Educação da Baixada Fluminense (LABORAV-UERJ / FEBF). Alunos, colaboradores, passam de protagonistas a diretores e editores de suas próprias produções. Desta forma, tentamos valorizar os interesses dos alunos, que muitas vezes ficam invisíveis. A pesquisa nos deu a oportunidade de conhecer com mais detalhes diversos interesses dos alunos que, ao longo do caminho, convergiram principalmente para a cultura do skate e hip hop. Na escola, não só o skate estava presente na sala de aula, mas também as imagens do skate, nas estampas de camisetas, nas capas de alguns cadernos... No período pré investigativo do projeto, Mauricio Silva havia desenhado as letras “R” e “C” em um projeto de camiseta, atividade que propus, como professora de artes na escola. Aí, conheci o Mauricio Silva com seus amigos skatistas, expondo a marca “Ratarius” — aquele “R” que ele desenhou no projeto de sua camiseta. Este encontro decorreu no âmbito do Encontro de Favelas (MOF), o qual foi gravado no Vídeo 1 - MoF 2014 Cultura e Imagem Fora das Paredes da Escola. Ana Mae Barbosa apresenta a imagem como narrativa de pesquisa. Em suas palavras: “A melhor forma de convencer os outros daquilo que afirmamos verbalmente, das nossas teorias, das nossas convicções, dos resultados das nossas pesquisas, é prová-los através da imagem” (BARBOSA, 2015, p.348). O Vídeo 1 foi um momento de pesquisa, em que a imagem/escrita extravasou o papel e os vídeos também passaram a fazer parte da metodologia da pesquisa. Antes de qualquer apresentação pública do Vídeo 1, os alunos e ex-alunos Mauricio Silva, Thiago Marques, Anthony Oliveira e Raphael Santos foram convidados a assisti-lo juntos no LABORAV, resultando no Vídeo 2, com suas reações e comentários ao evento. E estamos comemorando a aprovação (outubro - 2021) do Curso de Licenciatura em Cinema e Audiovisual pela Unidade de Educação da Escola Baixada Fluminense da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, local que possibilitou nossa pesquisa.

This work aims to share part of a research carried out in a public school that brought art, school and university closer together. The research aimed to understand the interests of students in the Final Stages of Youth and Adult Education (EJA) and was carried out at the Municipal Expeditionary Aquino de Araújo School, in Duque de Caxias, state of Rio de Janeiro. The audiovisual production comes from the school's partnership with the Audiovisual Resources Laboratory of the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Campus Duque de Caxias, Faculty of Education of Baixada Fluminense (LABORAV-UERJ/FEBF). Students, collaborators, go from protagonists to directors and editors of their own productions. In this way, we try to enhance the interests of students who are often invisible. The research gave us the opportunity to get to know in more detail various interests of the students who, along the way, converged mainly on the culture of Skate and Hip Hop. At school, not only skateboarding was present in the classroom, but also skateboarding images, on shirt prints, on the covers of some notebooks. In the pre-investigative period of the project, Mauricio Silva had drawn the letters “R” and “C” on a project for a shirt, an activity that we propose, as an art teacher at the school. Then I met Mauricio Silva with his skater friends, exposing the “Ratarius” brand, that “R” that he drew in his shirt project. This meeting took place at the Meeting of Favelas (MOF) which was recorded in Video 1-MoF2014 Cultura e Imagem Fora das Paredes da Escola https://youtu.be/JdmRNjYygMs?t=7. Ana Mae Barbosa (2015) presents the image as a research narrative. Video 1 was a moment in the research, in which image/writing overflowed beyond paper and videos began to be part of the research methodology as well. We rely on Arts Based Research (PBA) with a/r/tography. Prior to any public presentation of Video 1, students and former students, Mauricio Silva, Thiago Marques, Anthony Oliveira and Raphael Santos were invited to watch Video 1 together on LABORAV, resulting in Video 6 (https://youtu.be/b6E94LzTpxY) with their reactions and comments to the event. see -. Afterwards, from this moment on, the other seven videos were produced with their direct collaboration, getting the invitation to watch. And we are celebrating the approval (October/2021) of the Licentiate Course in Cinema and Audiovisual for the Baixada Fluminense Education Faculty Unit of the State University of Rio de Janeiro, the place that made our research possible.

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo compartir parte de una investigación realizada en una escuela pública que acercó el arte, la escuela y la universidad. La investigación tuvo como objetivo comprender los intereses de los estudiantes de las Etapas Finales de la Educación de Jóvenes y Adultos (EJA) y se llevó a cabo en la Escuela Municipal Expedicionario Aquino de Araújo, en Duque de Caxias, estado de Río de Janeiro. La producción audiovisual proviene de la alianza de la escuela con el Laboratorio de Recursos Audiovisuales de la Universidad Estadual de Río de Janeiro, Campus Duque de Caxias, Facultad de Educación de la Baixada Fluminense (LABORAV-UERJ/FEBF). Estudiantes, colaboradores, pasan de protagonistas a directores y editores de sus propias producciones. De esta manera, tratamos de mejorar los intereses de los estudiantes, que a menudo se vuelven invisibles. La investigación nos brindó la oportunidad de conocer con más detalle diversos intereses de los estudiantes que, en el camino, convergieron principalmente en la cultura del Skate y el Hip Hop. En la escuela, no solo el skate estaba presente en el aula, sino también en imágenes de skate, en estampados de camisetas, en las portadas de algunos cuadernos... En el período pre-investigativo del proyecto, Mauricio Silva había dibujado las letras “R” y “C” en un proyecto de camiseta, actividad que propuse como profesora de arte en la escuela. Luego, conocí a Mauricio Silva junto a sus amigos skaters, exponiendo la marca “Ratarius”, esa “R” que que había dibujado en su proyecto de camiseta. Esta reunión tuvo lugar en el Encuentro de Favelas (MOF), que fue grabado en Video 1 - MoF 2014 Cultura e Imagem Fora das Paredes da Escola. Ana Mae Barbosa presenta la imagen como un relato de investigación, en sus palabras: “La mejor manera de convencer a los demás de lo que afirmamos verbalmente, de nuestras teorías, de nuestras convicciones, de los resultados de nuestra investigación, es probarlos a través de la imagen”. (BARBOSA, 2015, p. 348). El video 1 fue un momento de investigación, en el que la imagen/escritura desbordó más allá del papel y los videos también comenzaron a ser parte de la metodología de investigación. Antes de cualquier presentación pública del Video 1, los estudiantes y exalumnos Mauricio Silva, Thiago Marques, Anthony Oliveira y Raphael Santos fueron invitados a ver el Video 1 juntos en LABORAV, dando como resultado el Video 2 ,con sus reacciones y comentarios al evento. Posteriormente, a partir de este momento, se produjeron los otros siete videos con su colaboración directa en la invitación a ver. Estamos celebrando la aprobación (octubre - 2021) del Curso de Licenciatura en Cine y Audiovisual para la Unidad de Educación Baixada Fluminense de la Universidad Estadual de Río de Janeiro, el lugar que hizo posible nuestra investigación.

Dynamic compression of risers is one of these subjects, which has extreme practical relevance in the sense of both design and structural analysis. In this work a riser is anchored at its top end and the other one remains resting on the seabed. Consider that the riser has quasi-vertical configuration. Thus, the angle between the tangent line at the top end and the vertical is small, and its tension on the vicinity of the touchdown point (TDP) is also small. The riser is statically subject to its own submerged weight and on it can act a horizontal ocean current. Furthermore, it supposed a harmonic motion imposed at the top in the tangent direction to the line, caused by local waves on the floating unit. Since the dynamic tension τ(s) changes cyclically in time and the tension T(s) in the TDP is small, it is possible that in this region, the first exceeds the second one in part of cycle’s wave. In these situations occurs a phenomenon known as dynamic compression, widely discussed in Aranha; Pinto and Silva (2001), Aranha; Pinto (2001), Ramos; Pesce (2003) and Fujarra; Simos (2006). During the dynamic compression occurs riser buckling-like. In a strict sense, the behavior of a riser is similar to a cable, although its bending stiffness is not null. Hence, risers have some resistance to buckling-like and can support a certain level of compression. The maximum loading of compression that can be measured in a riser segment is known as critical load (Pcr). Aranha; Pinto and Silva (2001) proposed a simple analytical formulation for the critical load. The aim of the present paper is to propose a simple analytical equation for the speed of compression waves that propagate from the TDP to the riser’s top end. This formulation depends on physical characteristics of the riser and the levels of tension to which it is submitted. As a result, it is possible to compare the theoretical results obtained with numerical simulations and physical experiments. The outcomes provide more understanding to the phenomenon of dynamic compression of risers.

Introdução: O câncer mesmo diante de todo avanço cientifico e tecnológico em seu tratamento, é visto como uma doença terminal, pela sociedade. Reis, et.al, apresenta em sua literatura que desde o momento do diagnóstico o paciente começa ter os pensamentos de morte. O adoecimento é visto como uma preparação para a morte, onde há restrições de sua subjetividade, sendo considerado o momento que inicia o processo de luto. De acordo com Hermes, Lamarca, diante do avanço da ciência, o trabalho humanizado também apresenta evolução. O trabalho com Cuidados Paliativos vem propor ferramentas que amenizam as dores do paciente, que não antecipem a morte e nem prolongue sua vida de forma dolorosa e ilegal. Integra aspectos psicológicos e de espiritualidade ao paciente e família com o acompanhamento da equipe multidisciplinar no processo de adoecimento/luto. Objetivos: O presente resumo visa iniciar uma reflexão sobre a importância de Cuidados Paliativos com pacientes oncológicos, como técnica de humanização frente ao adoecimento, acompanhando os pacientes e familiares. Metodologia: A partir de estudos bibliográficos é realizado uma reflexão para melhor compreensão do desenvolvimento de processos de humanização em Cuidados Paliativos com pacientes oncológicos. Resultados: Com as referências bibliográficas, segundo Silva, et.al. foi possível compreender que Cuidados Paliativos é desenvolvido por uma equipe multidisciplinar. Utilizando-se da comunicação interpessoal com os pacientes oncológicos e o diálogo com a família, trabalhando-se o luto, frente ao adoecimento. Conclusão: De acordo com todo estudo realizado em relação a Cuidados Paliativos com pacientes Oncológicos compreende-se a necessidade de técnicas que desenvolvam a humanização com os pacientes e as famílias. Tendo o adoecimento como um momento de elaborações, podendo vivenciar as etapas do luto, que se inicia a partir do diagnóstico.

El trabajo aquí presentado trae una reflexión proveniente del grupo Laboratório de Poéticas Fronteiriças (http://labfront.tk), registrado en el directorio del CNPq y certificado por la Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais. Aquí mostramos un fragmento, basado en algunas de nuestras investigaciones bibliográficas, que tiene como objetivo reunir un aspecto específico de las artes digitales conocido como “arte telemático”. Además de expresarse a través de sistemas telemáticos, entendemos a las obras de arte telemáticas en lo que respecta a sus conexiones con las infotecnologías y cognotecnologías en el contexto de la convergencia científica y tecnológica que estamos atravesando actualmente. Las infotecnologías tratan directamente el momento de la historia de la humanidad en el que hemos entrado desde la mitad del siglo XX, una era basada en la información, donde múltiples tecnologías permiten acceder a una gran cantidad de datos y conocimientos, permitiendo un desarrollo aún mayor en la investigación en diversas áreas (GREY; JAMES, 2000, p. 3). Las cognotecnologías, por otro lado, son los desarrollos que permiten una conexión cognitiva. Recrean artificialmente cómo funciona el cerebro humano, a través de descubrimientos neurocientíficos y relacionándose con la forma en que funciona nuestra mente, presentándose como una tecnología disruptiva que permite extrapolar las interacciones infotecnológicas tradicionales entre humanos y máquinas (DELTELL; PÉREZ, 2020). Dicho esto, traemos a la discusión la idea de la hipercorteza. Está anclada en la relación entre la idea de “inteligencia global compartida” y la extrapolación del cerebro humano. Los desarrollos infocognotecnológicos crean una hipercorteza de procesos cognitivos individuales transformadores y mediadores, cambiando el modus operandi de las relaciones sociales. De esta manera, al comprender la función biológica de la corteza humana, que está directamente conectada con la hipercorteza, podemos darnos cuenta de la posibilidad de expandir su capacidad con la ayuda de métodos tecnológicos. Además, permite que dicha expansión de la conciencia humana trascienda su dimensión física, permitiendo una vinculación en los procesos hombre-máquina y máquina-máquina (GOBIRA, SILVA, PORTUGAL, 2021)]. Esta idea, ampliamente apoyada por las reflexiones de Roy Ascott (2003) y de Pierre Levy (2017), trata directamente de las posibilidades de expansión del neocórtex humano. En nuestro trabajo analizaremos obras de arte digitales en las que se explora poéticamente la dimensión info-cognotecnológica en busca de una convergencia científica, tecnológica y artística. Podremos demostrar cómo diferentes obras de arte terminan conceptualmente, o de manera teórico-práctica, implementando lo que la humanidad experimenta físicamente.

O trabalho aqui apresentado traz uma reflexão originada do grupo Laboratório de Poéticas Fronteiriças (http://labfront.tk), cadastrado no diretório do CNPq e certificado pela Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais. Aqui mostramos um trecho, com base em algumas de nossas pesquisas bibliográficas, que visa reunir um aspecto específico das artes digitais conhecido como “arte telemática”. Além de se expressar por meio de sistemas telemáticos, entendemos as obras de arte telemáticas no que se refere às suas conexões com as tecnologias de informação e de tecnologia no contexto da convergência científica e tecnológica pela qual navegamos atualmente. As infotecnologias lidam diretamente com o momento da história da humanidade em que entramos desde a metade do século XX. Uma era baseada na informação, onde múltiplas tecnologias permitem o acesso a uma grande quantidade de dados e conhecimentos, permitindo um desenvolvimento ainda maior nas pesquisas em diversas áreas (GREY; JAMES, 2000, p. 3). Cognotecnologias, por outro lado, são os desenvolvimentos que permitem uma conexão cognitiva. Eles recriam artificialmente como funciona o cérebro humano, por meio de descobertas neurocientíficas e relacionando-se com a forma como nossa mente funciona, apresentando-se como uma tecnologia disruptiva que permite a extrapolação das interações infotecnológicas tradicionais entre humanos e máquinas (DELTELL; PÉREZ, 2020). Posto isto, trazemos para a discussão a ideia do hipercórtex. Está ancorado na relação entre a ideia de “inteligência global compartilhada” e a extrapolação do cérebro-pan dos humanos. Os desenvolvimentos info-cognotecnológicos criam um hipercórtex de processos cognitivos individuais transformativos e mediativos, mudando o modus operandi das relações sociais. Desta forma, ao compreender a função biológica do córtex humano, que está diretamente ligado ao hipercórtex, podemos perceber a possibilidade de expandir sua capacidade com o auxílio de métodos tecnológicos, além de permitir que tal consciência humana à expansão transcende a sua dimensão física, permitindo uma articulação nos processos homem-máquina e máquina-máquina (GOBIRA, SILVA, PORTUGAL, 2021)]. Esta ideia, também aqui amplamente apoiada nas reflexões de Roy Ascott (2003), como de Pierre Levy (2017), trata diretamente das possibilidades de expansão do neocórtex humano. Em nosso trabalho, analisaremos obras de arte digitais nas quais a dimensão info-cognológica é poeticamente em busca de uma convergência científica, tecnológica e artística. Poderemos demonstrar como diferentes obras de arte acabam conceitualmente — ou de forma teórico-prática — concretizando o que a humanidade vivencia fisicamente.

Introdução: Microstachys A. Juss é representado por 24 espécies distribuídas entre os trópicos, pertence à família Euphorbiaceae Juss, está englobado na tribo Hippomaneae onde é facilmente reconhecido por incluir espécies com látex claro escasso e diferentes tipos de hábitos. No Brasil existem 15 espécies, sendo 11 espécies pertencentes ao estado de Goiás, que abriga importantes áreas de conservação florística, como o Parque Estadual da Serra dos Pireneus (localizado nos municípios de Cocalzinho de Goiás, Corumbá de Goiás e Pirenópolis). Objetivo: Com o intuito de contribuir com o conhecimento da flora destes locais, foi feito um levantamento florístico para o gênero ao longo do Parque Estadual da Serra dos Pireneus. Material e métodos: Para cumprir com o objetivo proposto, foram realizadas expedições e coletas de material botânico com duração de até três dias, visitas a coleções herborizadas e pesquisas em sites e bibliografias específicas para os táxons. Resultados: Foram observadas sete espécies: Microstachys anisodonta (Müll.Arg.) M.J. Silva., M. bidentata (Mart. & Zucc.) Esser, M. corniculata (Vahl) A.Juss. ex Griseb., M. daphnoides (Mart. & Zucc.) Müll.Arg, M. ditassoides (Didr.) Esser, M. hispida (Mart.) Govaerts e M. serrulata (Mart. & Zucc.) Müll.Arg., onde apenas Microstachys anisodonta é endêmica em Goiás e todas as espécies pertencem a campos limpos, campos rupestres e Cerrado (lato sensu). Em relação à morfologia, as espécies podem ser classificadas e diferenciadas como herbáceas (duas spp) e subarbustivas (cinco spp) com látex pouco frequente e presença de tricomas em todas elas, presença (três spp) ou ausência (quatro spp) de xilopódio nas raízes, folhas com nervação broquidródoma (cinco spp) ou hifódroma (duas spp), estípulas presentes nas sete espécies e sementes cilíndricas de testa manchada (quatro spp) e de testa não manchada (três spp). Gavinhas não estão presentes nas respectivas espécies pois não é uma característica morfológica da família a qual o gênero pertence. Conclusão: Portanto, diante do observado ao realizar a respectiva pesquisa, é clara a necessidade de estudos científicos que colaborem com a florística não só desse gênero, mas também com a de outros táxons que compõem a flora do estado de Goiás e do bioma Cerrado.

En los últimos años se ha visto el interés de los gobiernos de generar programas con el fin de mejorar la salud física de los ciudadanos, permitiendo que espacios como los gimnasios sean accesibles a todos incluyendo a las personas en condición de discapacidad. Sin embargo, estas soluciones no han logrado cubrir todas las necesidades, de la población, basados en las particularidades a las que se ven sometidos en su rutina, debido a su condición u oficio. Un ejemplo de esto es el caso de las personas en silla de ruedas, las cuales debido a los movimientos repetitivos que deben hacer al desplazarse, ven afectados el rango de movimiento de algunas de sus articulaciones como lo son el hombro y el codo. Objetivo. Diseñar equipamientos (ayudas técnicas) para las personas en silla de ruedas que trabaje el fortalecimiento de miembros superiores y/o tronco en un parque de bolsillo de Bogotá. Metodología. Estudio de corte cuantitativo, se realizó un análisis biomecánico utilizando el método RULA y el método ErgoDis/IBV. Posteriormente, su utilizó el estándar internacional para el desarrollo de sistemas ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148-2011 (Systems and software engineering – Life cycle processes – Requirements engineering) para el diseño. Resultados. Los equipamientos deben tener un enfoque dirigido ampliar los rangos de movimiento de las articulaciones de hombro y codo, evitando cargas de peso en los ejercicios. El diseño debe ser robusta y resistente y que cumpla con las normativas planteadas para regular la fabricación de gimnasios al aire libre o parques biosaludables en China y en España, sin embargo, han servido de guía para empresas de diferentes países donde no hay una regulación exclusiva para estos casos (GB192722011 y UNE1176-1:2018). Las piezas móviles del sistema deben cumplir el requerimiento de distribución de cargas, con el fin de evitar esfuerzos musculares en los usuarios y evitar los rangos de movimiento enunciados al comienzo de esta sección. Los equipamientos diseñados están en este momento en trámite de registro.

Introdução: A pesquisa está pautada desde a conceituação sobre Alfabetização e Letramento aos desafios e possibilidades em alfabetizar e letrar no Ensino Fundamental nos anos iniciais na EMFSC. Objetivos: Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir e analisar o processo de Alfabetização e Letramento numa perspectiva de pensar a escrita e a leitura relacionadas no contexto de ensino e aprendizagem. Material e métodos: Tais representações caminham juntos, alfabetizar letrando, para essa discussão fundamentaremos nossa reflexão/ação pelos estudos, Silva (2014), Kramer (1986), Soares(2011), Ferreiro (2001), Freire (1987) e Ferreiro e Teberosk (1985). Alfabetização abrange diversos conceitos, Freire observa numa perspectiva de leitura social ou crítica da realidade enquanto Soares (2011) destaca a interpretação e a utilização da linguagem. O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido na Escola Municipal Francisco soares da Costa, no município de Ipanguaçu/RN no ano de 2021. Dessa forma, consideramos como questão guia de nossa pesquisa: quais os desafios e possibilidades do processo de Alfabetização e letramento no Ensino Fundamental – Anos Iniciais? Intentamos analisar como decorre a alfabetização em paralelo com o letramento, traçando elementos comuns dos desafios encontrados no fazer dessa escolarização e identificando os subsídios teóricos e práticos que apontam saídas e novos caminhos para o fazer e o pensar a educação referenciando a alfabetização e o letramento. A metodologia para o estudo caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa bibliográfica de caráter exploratório e análise de dados numa abordagem qualitativa. Resultados: Os resultados do questionário e no diálogo com os autores relatados no decorrer do trabalho, evidenciaram que os professores compreendem como se dá o processo de alfabetização e mencionam algumas dificuldades nessa caminhada, tais como: falta de material, apoio familiar e questões sociais. Conclusão: Assim, é necessário pensar em estratégias de ensino que possibilite o compartilhamento e o desenvolvimento da leitura e da escrita. Outro ponto importante nesse processo seria, a formação continuada dos professores para o enfrentamento dos desafios e no encontro das possibilidades no processo de Alfabetização e Letramento.

In a paper by the Harvard Law School Program on International Law and Armed Conflict (HLS PILAC) titled “Quantum of Silence: Inaction and Jus ad Bellum” (2019), Dustin A. Lewis, Naz K. Modirzadeh, and Gabriella Blum examine the actual and potential roles of silence in the identification and the development of international law, with a focus on the legal regime governing the threat or use of force in international relations. The analysis in the paper is complemented with an annex — to which a team of HLS PILAC research assistants contributed — that contains the most comprehensive catalogue to date of apparent self-defense reports to the Security Council under article 51 of the U.N. Charter. Those contributors were Lindsay Anne Bailey, Emma Broches, Laura Clark, Sonia Chakrabarty, Thejasa Jayachandran, Daniel Levine-Spound, Sarah Libowsky, Samantha Lint, Yang Liu, Carolina Silva-Portero, Shira Shamir, William Ossoff, Tamsin Parzen, and Shanelle Van. The paper and catalogue arose out of the HLS PILAC research project titled “Self-defense, States’ Silence, and the Security Council.”
