Abstract As civil engineering structures get older, there is a need to maintain, repair, retrofit and restore the structures once structural health of the structure is checked and found that it is deteriorating. The structural health is checked by performing various Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) or partially destructive tests on different structural members of the given structure and by calculating the service life and residual life of the structure. Sufficient service life remaining and good NDT results and conclusions allow for repair and retrofitting, of the deteriorating structure. The various Non Destructive Tests conducted are Rebound Hammer, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity, Half Cell Potentiometer Test, Carbonation Test, Core Test, Cover Meter survey, Windsor Probe Test, Chloride Test, Sulphate Test, and Resistivity Measurements, Pull out tests, Radioactive Method of NDT. In the present study, two case studies of structural health monitoring and assessment of residual life of RCC buildings in Goa are undertaken and the need for retrofitting scheme is assessed. From the test results and analysis, it is observed that one structure can be retrofitted while the other structure cannot be retrofitted. Some of the retrofitting methods that will be used for the structure are Shotcrete, Fiber Wrap Technique, RCC Jacketing, and Plate Bonding.

Abstract: A shell structure is a thin structure composed of curved sheets of material, so that Shell structures are inspired from natural element named “SHELL”. A thin curved member or slab usually of reinforced concrete that function as tension member and shell. The waviness plays an important role in the structural behavior realizing a spatial form. Some of natural elements like eggshell, seashell, fruit shells (walnut) etc are showing shell structure properties. The present reinforced concrete shells as a very efficient structure, spanning wide, architectonically beautiful, relevant and valuable structural solution. Shell structures are very attractive lightweight structures, which are especially suited to Architectural building, industrial application, commercial projects etc.. The actual design of shells, involves theories of shells and the use of appropriate codes of practice. Types of curved shell like Parabolic, Hyperbolic or Cylindrical members are often said to act as tension rigidity hence called tensile members. For achieving the optimized load capability and flexural strength of such an element in form of shell covering structure is checked in for M30 grade concrete. Tensile shell members are structural edifice that caries only tension and without buckling or bending. Tensile structures are the most common type of thin-shell structures used worldwide from past decades. The profile and aspect of structure used are unlike for loading conditions, geographical locations and Architecture design differs as such as horizontal, sloping or curved member (dome and shell member). In this research work the tensile shell (plate) structure is designed in the form of beam and as grid shell slab element (plate). After then load has been applied for analysis via software tool i.e. STAAD Pro. The types of load assigned dead and live loads. The Design code specifications for curved shell member in IS: 2210–1994, IS 2204-1962 “Code of practice for construction of reinforced concrete shell roof” [CED 13: Building Construction Practices including Painting, Varnishing and Allied Finishing] and the load case criteria is to be as per IS: 875(2)–2000. RCC design specifications as per IS: 456–2000

In a building construction, the frame is constructed first, and then in later stages of construction, these frames are infilled by, either concrete blocks or masonry infilled bricks, or sometimes with finished stone. These masonry infilled walls provides protection from environment outside. However, in general practice the main purpose of masonry infilled walls is to fill the gap in between the building frame’s horizontal and vertical resisting elements, where it is pre-assumed that masonry infilled walls do not resist any lateral or axial loads. Hence, while designing a structure there presence is neglected, i.e. we design the structure as a bare frame only. But the main fact is that, these masonry infilled walls, to a large extent affects structural strength and stiffness properties, and on the other hand, they are very brittle in nature. Some publications like [5] contain methods for masonry infilled walls stiffness calculations and model them as equivalent diagonal pin-jointed struts. In some other references provisions have been made to consider effects of openings also. Openings in masonry infilled walls are the unescapable part, opening may be provided for windows, or doors or for some other architectural purposes. But in the presence of openings, the strength and stiffness parameters of structures which got increased earlier, start decreasing and this decrease is also dependent on the location and size of opening areas in masonry infilled walls. The aim of this study is the modelling of masonry infilled walls, using two methods, one as equivalent diagonal pin-jointed strut and another as fourznodedzquadrilateral element, using ETABS software. This study also deals with the effects of opening in masonry infilled walls in respect to their size and locations, on the stiffness parameters of structure modelled with masonry infilled walls.

Soft-floor buildings, characterized by open spaces on the first floor, pose challenges to seismic performance. To address this, braces and shear walls are commonly employed to reduce displacement and improve seismic resilience. Shear walls and braces enhance lateral stiffness, minimize displacement, and ensure safety. This study investigates the seismic response of soft-floor RCC buildings, considering parameters such as soft floor height, shear wall placement, and brace types and arrangements. The goal is to enhance structural safety without extensive alterations. Analysis is conducted in three phases: soft-storey analysis, shear wall implementation, and brace integration. Shear walls are assessed at the center and corners, while different brace arrangements are examined. Results reveal the effectiveness of shear walls in enhancing stiffness and reducing displacement. Incorporating bracing systems improves overall building performance. Cost-effective strategies for strengthening soft-floor structures are identified, with findings summarized based on seismic response.

Σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η εύρεση γεωμετρικών χαρακτηριστικών των αιμοσφαιρίων με ψηφιακή επεξεργασία της σκεδασμένης μονοχρωματικής ακτινοβολίας. Αποτελείται από 5 κεφάλαια. Σε αυτά περιλαμβάνεται η ανάπτυξη, η υλοποίηση και τα αποτελέσματα τεχνικών για την ψηφιακή ανάλυση κι επεξεργασία ιατρικών εικόνων κάτι που παρουσιάζει ιδιαίτερο επιστημονικό ενδιαφέρον. Oι αλγόριθμοι που αναπτύχθηκαν υλοποιήθηκαν με τη βοήθεια του MATLAB 7.1. O κώδικας προγραμματίστηκε από τον Κύριο Aποστολόπουλο και τα αποτελέσματα της εξομοίωσής τους αξιολογήθηκαν σε συνεργασία με τον καθηγητή Κύριο Δερματά. Στο κεφάλαιο 1 επιχειρείται μια εμπεριστατωμένη ανασκόπηση της διεθνούς βιβλιογραφίας πάνω στα ερευνητικά θέματα που άπτονται του “ευθέως προβλήματος” ως θεωρητικό μοντέλο. Αποτελείται από έξι υποκεφάλαια με το πρώτο να αφιερώνεται στη θεωρητική ανάλυση της σκέδασης της ηλεκτρομαγνητικής ακτινοβολίας (ΗΜ). Στο δεύτερο υποκεφάλαιο γίνεται βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση εργασιών που ασχολούνται με τη φυσιολογία και τα γεωμετρικά χαρακτηριστικά των ερυθροκυττάρων, ενώ στο τρίτο υποκεφάλαιο αναλύεται το “ευθύ πρόβλημα σκέδασης”. Στη συνέχεια αναλύεται η σκέδαση ανθρώπινου αιμοσφαιρίου από Ηe-Νe laser και από ηλεκτρομαγνητική ακτινοβολία. Τέλος παρατίθενται εικόνες από laser, οι οποίες προέκυψαν από πειράματα του Κυρίου Τσινόπουλου. Στο κεφάλαιο 2, αναφέρονται βασικές έννοιες ηλεκτρομαγνητισμού και σκέδασης ηλεκτρομαγνητικών κυμάτων. Αρχικά ορίζεται το ηλεκτρομαγνητικό φάσμα και η οπτική Η/Μ ακτινοβολία, η δομή της ύλης και των ατόμων και η απορρόφηση του φωτός από ερυθρά αιμοσφαίρια. Στο τέταρτο υποκεφάλαιο γίνεται μια εκτενής αναφορά στη θεωρία του ηλεκτρομαγνητισμού, τις εξισώσεις Maxwell και τις μακροσκοπικές ιδιότητες του μέσου, για κενό χώρο, ισότροπο και ανισότροπο μέσο καθώς επίσης και οι συνοριακές συνθήκες. Τέλος διατυπώνεται η κυματική μορφή των εξισώσεων Maxwell. Στο κεφάλαιο 3 παρουσιάζονται εφαρμογές παρόμοιων πειραμάτων με το “ευθύ πρόβλημα” σκέδασης ηλεκτρομαγνητικής ακτινοβολίας σχετικά με τη σκέδαση μικροσωματιδίων. Αρχικά αναλύονται εκτενώς τεχνικές της βιοτεχνολογίας και ιατρικής, όπως η ακτινοδιαγνωστική, η αθηροσκλήρωση και η βρογχοσκόπηση. Στη συνέχεια παρατίθενται εφαρμογές πέραν της ιατρικής οι οποίες παρουσιάζουν ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον στη βελτίωση του βιοτικού επιπέδου. Ανάμεσα σ’ αυτές είναι ο προσδιορισμός του μεγέθους βακτηριδίων και η χρήση του Radar. Στο κεφάλαιο 4 περιγράφεται η γενική μορφή του “αντίστροφου προβλήματος” ηλεκτρομαγνητικής σκέδασης. Αρχικά παρατίθενται ο ορισμός του προβλήματος, τα πλεονεκτήματα και τα μειονεκτήματα. Στη συνέχεια παρουσιάζεται εκτενώς η επαναληπτική μέθοδος του “αντίστροφου προβλήματος” ηλεκτρομαγνητικής σκέδασης. Τέλος μοντελοποιούμε το παραπάνω πρόβλημα και αναλύονται τα προβλήματα που προκύπτουν ως αποτέλεσμα ενός παραδείγματος αναδημιουργίας αεροσκάφους με “αντίστροφη σκέδαση”. Στο κεφάλαιο 5 παρουσιάζονται εφαρμογές “αντίστροφων προβλημάτων” ηλεκτρομαγνητικής σκέδασης, καθώς και τα πλεονεκτήματα και μειονεκτήματά τους. Μερικές από αυτές τις εφαρμογές αναλύονται εκτενώς, όπως η εκτίμηση μεγέθους κοπαδιού ψαριών με αεροφωτογραφία, η επισκόπηση αρχαιολογικής γεωφυσικής και η σκέδαση φωτός δισδιάστατης γωνίας για το χαρακτηρισμό των μικροσωματιδίων αεροσκάφους. Στο κεφάλαιο 6 αναλύεται πειραματικά το “αντίστροφο πρόβλημα” σκέδασης με αναφορές σε βασικές έννοιες που χρησιμοποιούνται στο παρόν πείραμα, όπως η κανονικοποίηση εικόνας, ο DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) και το νευρωνικό Δίκτυο. Εν συνεχεία εκτιμάται το μέγεθος και η μορφή του RBC με το “αντίστροφο πρόβλημα” σκέδασης. Τα προκύπτοντα μεγέθη μετασχηματίζουμε με Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) κι εξάγουμε χαρακτηριστικά γνωρίσματα. Στη συνέχεια κανονικοποιούμε τα χαρακτηριστικά γνωρίσματα και προβλέπουμε τα νευρωνικά δίκτυα για το μέγεθος και τη μορφή των RBC. Τέλος εξάγονται πειραματικά αποτελέσματα και συμπεράσματα. Στο τελευταίο κεφάλαιο δίνονται οι μετρήσεις των ερυθροκυττάρων. Γίνεται μια γενική αναφορά στις εικόνες και την ψηφιακή επεξεργασία τους με τη βοήθεια του MATLAB 7.1. Αναφέρονται οι τύποι των εικόνων και η δομή τους καθώς και τα χρήσιμα Φίλτρα Εξάλειψης Θορύβου Εικόνας. Τέλος παρατίθενται οι γραφικές παραστάσεις που προκύπτουν από το Μatlab 7.1 του μέσου απόλυτου σφάλματος (Regression Error) και της επιτυχίας αναγνώρισης σχετικά με τον αριθμό των νευρώνων και σχολιάζονται αναλυτικά.

“Teachers Education Act” on February 7, 1994 has been announced until now, the multiplex teachers cultivation became one of priorities of education development, i.e. from the original planed teachers cultivation, reformed for the reserve teachers education. In the developing process, have been through the earlier multi-dimensional period which the teachers education organization had been established rapidly; To solve the 2002 “Teachers Education Act” problem which the system grew after it was announced, therefore revised “Teachers Education Act” largely, also affected the correlation laws and regulations revision, which was the later opening multi-dimensional period; In recent years for all-around in accordance to the lack of birth and the difficulties of the contracted demand markets, the quantity of the cultivated teachers must carry on the effective adjustment and the transformation gradually, to met the teachers supply and demand adjustment, this was the reconsidering time of teachers education opening. The goal of thesis were to find the regulations of the teachers education act and the transform of teachers education system , the development of teachers education curriculum which were three periods mentioned above, except to research the characteristic of the various stages of our country teachers education , and goes through vertically to discusses the process of our country teachers education during ten remaining years, to analyzes the tendency of our country teachers education development, induces the main points of the development, and proposes the concrete proposal.

Анотація:
Abstract In this paper, an attempt is made to study the nature of weakening of R.C.C. beams due to crack formations and the extent of strengthening of the beam achieved through filling of the cracks by polymeric materials having high bond and flexural strength in tension. The study of crack formation is carried out through a sequence of incremental loading till the stage of impending failure. The progressive reduction in flexural rigidity with the growth of cracks is compared with the improvement in the same after crack filling. A finite element method has been developed for this study.

Анотація:
A presente comunicação trata do recente fenômeno dos desdobramentos da prática da pesquisa histórica e de arquivo sobre a República Democrática do Congo na arte contemporânea. Desde os anos 1990, é possível observar um crescente número de artistas internacionais cujos trabalhos – em fotografia, vídeo, vídeo-instalação, filme – tratam cada qual ao seu modo, de diferentes aspectos da história colonial e póscolonial2 congolesa e de sua relação com a atualidade. Trata-se de um conjunto de trabalhos que indagam a história do Congo, a partir de seus espectros, de um passado que parece não passar, que nos leva a rever os traumas e as feridas abertas da história.
