Анотація:
Enterprises operating in a complicated, constantly changing environment should pay much more attention to the market and the user, ie to marketing. Despite the fact that the main subject of the state economy is an enterprise, the problems of marketing are mostly analysed at the level of activities. At the enterprises, these problems, which are of great practical and theoretical importance, are paid little attention. One of the main problems in this context is quantitative evaluation of marketing effectiveness. The nature of the considered processes implies that this problem can be solved by multiple criteria evaluation methods. It allows us to offer a particular methodology verified by calculations. The evaluation of some actual enterprises has shown that marketing considerably affects their commercial activities in a positive way, increasing their effectiveness (profitability).

Abstract Counterfactual impact evaluation (CIE) is a scientific quantitative approach mainly based on experiments and quasi experiments. CIE is trying to prove a causal relationship between outputs and outcomes. CIE does not take into account coherence of external incentives of companies with internal incentives that have or may have an impact on the behaviour of enterprises. The paper sets up internal evaluation indicators for businesses, counterfactuals useful for creating a more complex metrics evaluating businesses in the area of performance. The aim of the paper is to present model situation using the elementary principle of counterfactual impact evaluation based on “the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)”.

Two new parameters – reduced wear and reduced integral microhardness of the modified surface layer was used to evaluate the effectiveness of surface hardening technologies. The existence of a correlation between the entered parameters is shown, the regression equation is obtained based on the analysis of experimental data of the wear of a tool made of steel CrWMn and U10 treated with a laser with coatings in the reflow mode. We construct the functional dependence of tool wear on this parameter.

The growing competition on the international markets means that the importance of enterprise marketing activities is increasing. However, the attention paid to theoretical and practical marketing problems by enterprises is insufficient. This particularly refers to the analysis of marketing strategy effectiveness. It is not clear how marketing affects enterprise performance. To perform this analysis, the quantitative evaluation of enterprise marketing activities is required. Enterprise marketing is a complex multi-faceted phenomenon. Its various aspects are described by multidimensional and often oppositely directed criteria. Therefore, in this case, multicriteria evaluation methods can be successfully used for analysis. The state of the enterprise marketing system is described by sets of criteria. Therefore, the problem of adequate evaluation of their weights arises. Sometimes, it is possible to reduce the number of evaluation criteria by developing their hierarchical system. However, the question arises how the transformation of a single-level system of criteria into the respective multi-level system affects the calculation results.

The present study evaluated the effectiveness of two instructional approaches for remedial reading courses at a community college. The instructional approaches were strategic reading and traditional, textbook-based instruction. The two research questions that guided the quantitative, quasi-experimental study were: (a) what is the effect of strategic-reading instruction on the reading performance of community college students in a developmental reading course and (b) what is the effect of traditional, textbook-based instruction on the reading performance of community college students in a developmental reading course? The sample consisted of 64 participants. Two groups of students participated in the study: (a) the experimental group (n = 32), who received the strategic-reading instruction, and (b) the control group (n = 32), who received the traditional, textbook-based instruction. Students took the Nelson-Denny Reading test as a pretest and posttest to determine the effectiveness. The null hypotheses for H1 and H2 were rejected because the results of the paired t-test indicated strategic-reading instruction and traditional, textbook-based instruction have a statistically significant positive effect on students’ performance on the Nelson-Denny Reading Test Form G. Further, the one-way ANOVA test showed there is not a statistically significant difference between the difference scores of the students who received strategic-reading instruction and the students who received traditional, textbook-based instruction. The findings show that both methods of instruction are equally appropriate for the remedial reading course.

Introduction: Irrigation is regarded as having a key role in one of the main goals of endodontic treatment, the killing and removing bacteria from the infected root canal. Different methods and techniques have been used to deliver irrigating solutions and to facilitate the effectiveness of irrigation. The purpose of this in vitro study was, by using quantitative real-time PCR to determine the effectiveness of two irrigation and cleaning systems in removing multispecies oral biofilms from root canals. Methods: Fifteen extracted human molars were instrumented to size #15/.02 and then cleaned with the GentleWave System (GW; Sonendo Inc, Laguna Hills, CA). The teeth were autoclaved to provide the same sterile baseline. The molars were filled with mixed plaque suspended in brain-heart infusion broth and centrifuged to help the bacteria spread all over the root canal system. After two weeks of incubation, samples were divided randomly into two treatment groups and instrumented into size #15/.04 (GW) and #35/.04 (PiezoFlow group) under needle irrigation with sterile water. The teeth were then cleaned either with GentleWave System or ProUltra PiezoFlow Active Ultrasonic System (Dentsply Tulsa, Tulsa, OK) using 3% NaOCl, 8% EDTA and sterile water as irrigants. Root canals were sampled with paper points before and after instrumentation (S1, S2) and after GW or PF cleaning (S3). Quantitative real-time PCR was performed, the presence of microorganism in the samples was determined by using universal bacterial, a genus specific and species-specific primers. Statistical analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney U test with the significance level set at P < 0.05. Result: A highly significant bacterial reduction was recorded for both groups (P < 0.001). GW group showed a significantly higher reduction than the PF group of total microbes (P < 0.01), Enterococcus faecalis (P < 0.01) and Streptococcus species (P < 0.05). GW resulted predictably in high reduction of over 99% of the microbes in every canal, whereas in the PF group the reduction of microbes varied between 87% and 99.99%. Conclusion: While both systems demonstrated effective reduction of intracanal bacteria, a high level of over 99% was more predictably achieved in the GW group.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a disease in which the body has "turned on itself", with its immune system attacking mobility. In RA, an immune mechanism attacks and destroys the joints and limits mobility, in some circumstances to the point of needing replacement of joints. The aim of this research is the development of a less costly, widely accessible, passive sensing technology that provides a quantitative assessment of RA and that monitors the therapeutic effectiveness on joint-debilitating diseases. The proposed solution relies on a quantitative evaluation of human gestures. Such a quantitative assessment supports the comparison between the motion capabilities of a patient and that of a healthy person, using a kinematic model of the human skeleton. Criteria for the classification of severity were established, and tables were generated to classify the levels of severity as a function of the measurements extracted from processed videos of a subject performing predefined movements. This research project, while contributing a new tool to the process of classification of RA level of severity, opens the way for using widely accessible digital imaging for diagnosing and monitoring the evolution of the illness. Replacing MRI or HRUS with a cheaper and more accessible technology would have a major impact on health care services. From the clinical point of view, the proposed techniques based on digital images processing combined with a monitoring approach based on infrared images that was previously developed may provide a utility of care for patients with RA, as well as an alternative and automated approach for early detection of RA and active inflammation at a critical time.

Дисертація спрямована на вирішення питань забезпечення стабільного виконання вимог замовників продукції підприємств машинобудівної галузі шляхом удосконалення методів оцінювання результативності системи управління якістю (СУЯ) за рахунок введення кількісних статистичних показників її процесів. Для цього розроблено комплексний підхід до послідовного оцінювання процесів СУЯ, який відрізняється поступовим забезпеченням їх стабільності та зменшенням розсіювання значень їх показників. Запропоновано використовувати число скарг від замовників продукції для оцінки рівня виконання контрактних зобов’язань підприємства. Досліджено можливості методики внутрішнього аудиту (ВА) забезпечувати зменшення числа скарг від замовників та встановлено відмінність у оцінювані результативності процесів життєвого циклу продукції (ЖЦП) та допоміжних. Досліджено фізичну модель статистичного оцінювання результативності процесів ЖЦП, на основі якої розроблено методику їх кількісної оцінки. Удосконалено метод оцінки результативності коригувальних дій. Розроблено методику «Внутрішній аудит СУЯ», яка відрізняється спрощеною процедурою оцінювання при одночасному збереженні високої статистичної надійності висновків аудиту.

The inlet fogging of gas turbine engines has been extensively applied over the past several years. Fogging systems have been predicted to increase gas turbine power output by 10 to 15% based on theoretical and laboratory test results. This paper describes methodology to validate the evaporative cooling effect and quantify performance of inlet fogging systems. A quantitative analysis of inlet fogging systems is provided based on gas turbines operating in different environmental conditions. The tests were conducted on SWPC W501FD Frame gas turbines nominally rated at 185 MW. The data presented herein considers the actual combustion turbine operating conditions, psychrometric considerations and field measurements. This paper also considers the application of specialized temperature measurement equipment suitable for accurate drybulb temperature detection in an environment that may contain free water in the airstream. Theoretical and actual application results are presented to validate the instrument accuracy.

Review question / Objective: To investigate the treatment effect of CoQ10 on fatigue syndromes. Eligibility criteria: To generate a recruited study list, the following inclusion criteria will be used: (1) randomized controlled trials (RCTs) enrolling human participants, (2) RCTs investigating the quantitative evaluation of fatigue symptoms before and after CoQ10 supplement, (3) placebo-controlled trials (without limitation of age and treatment duration ) and (4) trials with available data of pre- and post-intervention fatigue assessment or changes in fatigue scores. In this meta-analysis, open-label studies were also included since recent studies found that the open-label placebo had similar efficacy as the double-blind one.

The ‘Urban WASH' project was implemented in George and Chawama compounds in Lusaka between July 2013 and June 2017 by Oxfam and Village Water Zambia. The project aimed to improve provision and sustainable management of WASH services by engaging citizens to hold duty bearers and service providers to account. Oxfam collaborated with local institutions on an array of activities, engaging stakeholders to create a conducive environment for service provision and improving capacities and practices. This Effectiveness Review evaluates the success of this project to increase the sustainability of water and sanitation systems and services. Using a quasi-experimental evaluation design, we assessed impact among households in the intervention communities and in a comparison community. We combined the household-level quantitative assessment with analysis of community-level qualitative Key Informant Interviews, carried out with relevant institutional representatives. The ‘From Emergency Food Security to Durable Livelihoods: Building Resilience in the Occupied Palestinian Territories’ project was implemented in the West Bank, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, between November 2015 and January 2018 by Oxfam, together with two partners: the Land Research Centre (LRC) and the Palestinian Livestock Development Centre (PLDC). The project, funded by the Belgian Cooperation, through Oxfam Italy, focused on improving protection around three key areas at community level to build resilience: supporting animal health, rehabilitating protected rangelands and strengthening community-based legal protection mechanisms. The combination of these key areas is the focus of this Effectiveness Review: the evaluation assesses the impact of this cross-sectorial approach on the resilience capacities of male and female members of Bedouin communities in the West Bank, at risk of displacement. Aims of the study: to substantiate possibilities of the research competencies formation among senior pupils in terms of profile Chemistry learning by means of practical using information and communication technology while accomplishing an elective course “Basics of quantitative chemical analysis”. This research considers the influence of various ICT tools on the formation of individual study and research competencies, in particular the system components of the research competencies among senior pupils in terms of profile Chemistry learning and the methods of their practical applying while accomplishing an elective course “Basics of quantitative chemical analysis”. Object of the study: ICT tools for Chemistry learning. Subject of the study: ICT tools of research competencies formation among senior pupils in terms of profile Chemistry learning. Methods of the study: reviewing and analyzing scientific publications, expert evaluation, summarizing pedagogical experience. Results of the study: the system of research competencies formation among senior pupils is effectively provided by the correct selection of ICT tools and conditions of their applying for the certain research competence formation, which embodies system components. Our research confirms the idea that the most ICT tools are to be leading in the development of research competencies among senior pupils in profile Chemistry learning. They are successfully tested by means of their applying in the process of studying the elective course “Basics of Quantitative Chemical Analysis”. They show the high effectiveness. Our study confirms that virtual chemical laboratories are the most universal and influential tools of forming the research competencies among senior pupils in profile Chemistry learning.
