Relevance. The development of a system for providing emergency psychological assistance to minors in our country involves taking into account the leading international experience, both in terms of the practice of providing emergency psychological assistance and at the level of its methodological support.Intention. To review the key aspects of international experience in providing emergency psychological assistance to minors.Methodology. The object of the work was scientific articles indexed in the abstract-bibliographic database of the Russian Science Citation Index, and articles included in international databases.Results and Discussion. There were analyzed the main meta-analytical reviews, as well as data on the implementation of the emergency psychological assistance system in different countries. The article considers such characteristics of emergency psychological assistance as types, terms, place and agents of rendering, as well as the main modalities of psychological practice in which psychological support and assistance to minors is provided. The degree of methodological development of the problem of providing emergency psychological assistance to minors in the international community is revealed through the analysis of two main guidelines with recommendations in relation to working with stress reactions in emergency situations for children and adolescents.Conclusion. The variability of embedding the system for providing emergency psychological assistance both in the structure of the educational sphere and in various departments in different countries makes it possible to reasonably choose the optimal model, taking into account the realities of our country in general and regional characteristics in particular.

The aim of this study was to examine the complex issue of healing in relation to the TRC. More specifically, it addressed questions regarding retraumatisation through testimony as well as the immediate and also longer-term effects of providing public testimony by accessing the lived experiences of victims in their post-testimony lives. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 individuals who had experienced a gross violation of human rights and who had provided public testimony to the TRC. Thematic analysis of the interview data reveal themes of traumatisation by human rights violations, presence of social support, testimonial significance and the influence of the post-traumalpost-TRC context.

Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a multidimensional endocrine disorder characterized by at least two of the following three features: hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction and/or polycystic ovaries. Prevalence is estimated at 5-10 % of women of reproductive age worldwide and may impact between five and ten million women in the U.S. alone. Rather than a distinct disease entity, PCOS is characterized as a clustering of clinical concerns which include hyperandrogenism, obesity, and menstrual abnormalities/infertility. Our intent was to examine how these three PCOS characteristics impact psychological symptoms (e.g., depression, anxiety, interpersonal sensitivity) and PCOS health related quality of life concerns (weight, hair, infertility, menstrual, emotions). Design: Cross-sectional, correlational Setting: Women were recruited from private endocrinology practices in the rural Southeastern U.S. Patients/Participants: The study sample consisted of 126 women with PCOS. Half of these women were currently attempting to conceive in addition to being treated for their PCOS. The average woman in the study was 30 years of age (M=30.3, range=18-48), White (98 %) and married (79%). On average, participants weighed over 200 pounds (M=213.6 lbs, 116-361 lbs). Methods: During the seven-month enrollment period, women diagnosed with PCOS were invited to participate. Convenience sampling yielded 126 subjects who met the diagnosis for PCOS, underwent laboratory testing and physical assessment, completed psychological and quality of life survey instruments and were included in data analysis. Results: Results of multiple regression analyses, controlling for demographic covariates, were completed on markers of hyperandrogenism, obesity and current fertility intent. Findings revealed hirsutism was significantly related to increased symptoms of anxiety and somatization and decreased quality of life among women with PCOS, while elevated androgen levels were significantly related to decreased quality of life. Insulin level predicted increased levels of symptoms related to somatization, psychoticism, and a global symptom severity index. Current fertility intent significantly impacted symptoms related to interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety, psychoticism, and the global symptom severity index. Specifically, women not currently trying to have a baby had higher levels of these psychological symptom outcomes. Conclusion/Implications for nursing practice: Women with PCOS are at elevated risk for psychological distress, and psychological symptoms appear to increase with increasing severity of PCOS symptoms. Women not currently trying to conceive appear to be at higher risk for psychological distress and lower quality of life. Future attention might focus on screening and possible referring to mental health services for women not trying or no longer trying to conceive.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a degenerative disease that progressively impacts physical, psychological and social functioning resulting in diminished quality of life (D'Antonio, Zimmerman, & Iacono, 2000; Den Oudsten, Van Heck, & De Vries, 2007; Montel, Bonnet, & Bungener, 2009). The negative effects of PD are not only experienced by persons with PD but also their loved ones – such as their spouses and to a lesser extent their adult-children – because they become the primary caregivers as the disease progresses (D’Amelio et al., 2009). PD caregiving literature has focused predominantly on the negative effects of caregiving, namely caregiver burden (see Aarsland et al., 2007; Caap-Ahlgren & Dehlin, 2002; Harbishettar et al., 2010). The positive effects of PD caregiving remain a less-explored phenomenon. Existing literature suggests that PD caregiving is primarily a negative, burdensome and stressful experience without sufficient acknowledgement of the possible lived experience of PD caregiving and caregivers’ strengths. This interpretative-phenomenological study was designed with a strengths-based perspective (Saleebey, 2012) to explore the lived experience of loved ones providing care for persons with PD. Participants were the primary caregivers for a family member with PD, either spouses or adult-children, residing in the same home as the person with PD. Data collection phase one involved in-depth semi-structured interviews (N = 29). Data collection phase two involved a small focus group (N = 3), as a supplementary measure to draw upon insights and clarify emergent themes from phase one. The transcripts were analysed using an integration of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA; Smith & Eatough, 2012) and thematic analysis (TA; Braun & Clarke, 2006). The analysis identified five master themes (and 20 sub-themes): (1) Positive changes in perspectives on living, (2) Personal Growth, (3) Relationship growth, (4) Contextual experience associated with positive changes and growth-ful development, and (5) Lacking in positive changes and growth-ful development. Results indicated a substantial number of loved ones providing care reported positive psychological changes and growth-ful development associated with PD caregiving. However, many others could not identify any positive experiences, only loss and strain since the presence of PD in their lives. Analysis revealed that participants employed meaning-making processes such as deliberate rumination (i.e., life re-evaluation and re-prioritisation), searching for significance (i.e., benefit finding and positive reappraisal), and cognitive processes (i.e., assimilation and accommodation), as well as emotional processing (i.e., exploring and expressing emotions) in a supportive environment (i.e., PD support groups). This resulted in outcomes of meaning made, such as perceptions of positive psychological changes and growth-ful development (i.e., positive changes in attitude, and ways of thinking and being). Findings are consistent with influential growth theories, such as the adversity-activated development theory (AAD) (Papadopoulos, 2007), the revised meaning-making model (Park, 2010) and the post-traumatic growth theory (Calhoun, Cann, & Tedeschi, 2010; Tedeschi & Calhoun, 2004)). Each postulate that people can grow and develop both personally and relationally as a result of a stressful experience (Park, 2010), exposure to ongoing adversity (Papadopoulos, 2007), and post-trauma or major life crisis (Calhoun, Cann, & Tedeschi, 2010; Tedeschi & Calhoun, 2004). Conclusions were consistent with previous caregiving research from other populations (e.g., Farran et al., 1999; Rapp & Chao, 2000; Sanders, 2005) where the PD caregiving situation is associated with loss and compromise, much like dementia caregiving. However, the potential for positive experiences and growth-ful developments is apparent. The precise circumstances where caregiving activities generated everyday strain (e.g., tension, losses, burden, and stress) for the loved ones providing care also appeared to create moments of appreciation and gratification, and allowed for positive transformation and growth-ful development...

В дисертації проаналізовані основні науково-теоретичні підходи до визначення взаємозв’язку ефективності спільної діяльності і сформованої психологічної сумісності, які включали: структурний, функціональний і адаптивний підходи. Більш конкретно визначена структура психологічної сумісності та її значущі компоненти. В роботі аналізується діяльність операторів військ Протиповітряної оборони, які виконують завдання бойового чергування, представлена професіограма спеціальностей радіотехнічного та зенітно-ракетного профілю, в яких відображені психологічні вимоги до цих спеціальностей та встановлені професійно важливі якості операторів, сформованість яких дозволяє підвищити ефективність їхньої спільної діяльності. Визначені і згруповані внутрішні і зовнішні фактори, які впливають на ефективність спільної діяльності. В ході дослідження встановлено комплекс критеріїв кожного компонента психологічної сумісності, їх рівні, динаміка та умови формування. Визначені основні причини психологічної несумісності. Dissertation is devoted to the problem of the socially-psychological providing of the efficiency of the joint activity of operators taking into account psychological compatibility. In dissertation found out basic theoretical-conceptual approaches to the study of intercommunication of the joint activity and the problem of psychological compatibility, which include: structural, functional and adaptive approaches. The structure of psychological compatibility and its copulas with the effective joint activity is specified. Description of the activity of operators of Air defense troops, which execute the commons tasks, is given in the work, represented psychodrama requirements to necessary qualities of operators, purposeful influence on which allows to promote efficiency of their joint activity. The stress - factors, which influence on efficiency of joint activity are definite is grouped. They are separated into external and internal (psychological and socially-psychological). During the research certain meaningful components of psychological compatibility, their criteria levels and forming dynamics. Certain principal reasons of psychological incompatibility. As a result of the conducted research to the subjects of guidance of military subsections the special psychological methodic providing of the efficiency of joint activity taking into account psychological compatibility of operators was offered.

Smartphones have now become a device that everyone uses in day to day activities. Moreover, thanks to their built-in sensors, they can successfully determine the user’s location, perceive the real-world and act upon those stimuli. In the previous years, a location-based and context-aware platform to support the treatment of patients with psychological disorders was developed at GEOTEC, a Spanish research group in Geospatial technologies. This platform consists of a mobile application that monitors the patient’s behavior and delivers interventions, and a web-based application that allows therapists to define and steer the monitoring and intervention process. Concretely, the platform tracks the users location and visualizes it for the therapist. This thesis proposes an extension to the Symptoms platform, in two ways: to allow location- and time-based triggered questionnaires, to further assess the patients psychological state in-situ and in real time, and to extend the current location-based notifications system to use the same context—based triggers to further assist psychotherapeutic interventions. To this aim, the Symptoms administration web application is extended to allow therapists to create extended context-based triggers (e.g., based on time/duration and location), to be used to trigger questionnaires (assessment) and notification (treatment). Furthermore, the web application is extended to collect, store and visualize the feedback sent by the patients to support therapists to make informed decisions. Next to the web application for therapists, the Symptoms mobile app is also extended to allow notifications and questionnaires to be displayed (when context conditions are met), and responded to by the patient. The proposed extensions are evaluated both technical and regarding usage (usefulness, usability). As a result, the mobile app and web-based application were found to be usable with SUS score of 86.75 and 75 respectively. The web app is found to be useful for the therapists to help assess and treat patients, and better understand patient’s behavior.

The paper deals with the problem of abuse and violence against minors, among which the authors distinguish a special category: orphans and children left without parental care. Approaches to the definition and forms of violence and ill-treatment of minors are described. The psychological causes and consequences of violence and ill-treatment are analyzed. Technologies for providing psychological assistance to child victims of violence and abuse are offered. A significant part of the work is devoted to the consideration of the features of interdepartmental interaction on prevention and timely detection of signs and consequences of abuse and violence against children. The result of such an analysis was the development of a model regulation describing the procedural and legal issues of coordinating such interaction between specialists from different departments in order to protect the interests of minors. The work is addressed to psychologists, teachers, specialists of organizations for children.

The aim of this chapter is to discuss how to overcome the psychological barriers that lead older patients away from an appropriate nutritional intake and the importance of motivational interventions for adherence to nutritional care, providing useful evidence and direction for further research.

AbstractIn this chapter, the author addresses salutogenesis and the mental health of first responders (FRs). Research has observed FRs to be prone to psychological distress and psychopathology resulting from their repeated exposure to potentially traumatic events. Most of the literature is focused on postevent treatment. The author discusses a mental fitness model that includes salutogenically oriented psychoeducation and other activities to enhance mental fitness among FRs and build their psychological strengths as they face adversities on their job.In closing, the author recommends that besides psychopathology-oriented programs intended for providing mental first aid to FRs and for the communities who experience potentially traumatic events, intervention also should include salutogenically based mental preparation programs. These should emphasize the strengths and resources that could help FRs arrive at scenes of disaster equipped with salutogenic resources, at the strategic as well as tactical levels.

The purpose of this chapter is to describe and evaluate self-efficacy theory and the studies most relevant to the nursing context. This chapter provides an overview of the development of self-efficacy theory, its five components and the role of self-efficacy in promoting emotional and behavioural changes in a person’s life with health problems. This chapter also discusses the role of self-efficacy in nursing interventions by providing examples of studies conducted in health promotion in patients and academic performance of nursing students.

AbstractPopulation processes, including migration, are complex and uncertain. We begin this book by providing a rationale for building Bayesian agent-based models for population phenomena, specifically in the context of migration, which is one of the most uncertain and complex demographic processes. The main objectives of the book are to pursue methodological advancement in demography and migration studies through combining agent-based modelling with empirical data, Bayesian statistical inference, appropriate computational techniques, and psychological experiments in a streamlined modelling process, with the overarching aim to contribute to furthering the model-based research agenda in demography and broader social sciences. In this introductory chapter, we also offer an overview of the structure of this book, and present various ways in which different audiences can approach the contents, depending on their background and needs.

"The purpose of this study was to examine the factors that influence an individual’s choice to share personal information online. Specifically, the role of age, gender, personality, overall media exposure, and perceived risks and benefits were examined in relation to a willingness to share personal information that differed in sensitivity (high school grades, medical records, income) and differed in target audience (social media, online store, general public). A total of 202 individuals participated in this survey study. The majority were young (M age = 22.46 years, SD = 5.77), single (83.7%), women (80.7 %), with at least some post-secondary education (90.1%). A series of hierarchical regression analyses were conducted. The results indicated that willingness to share personal information on social media was predicted by having higher scores on the personality traits of extraversion, agreeableness, and negative emotionality. Higher scores on perceived purchase benefits and total media exposure also predicted willingness to share personal information on social media. In terms of willingness to share personal information with an online store, total media exposure was a significant predictor along with higher extraversion and lower conscientiousness scores. Finally, willingness to share personal information with the general public was predicted by overall media exposure. Participants generally believed that there were risks involved in sharing personal information, but these risks were considered to be slight. As well, they only slightly disagreed when asked if the internet could be trusted, and were neutral on whether there were purchase benefits to providing personal information."

"Despite their diverse origins, the personalities composing this Dark Triad share several features. To varying degrees, all three entail a socially malevolent character with behavior tendencies toward self-promotion, emotional coldness, duplicity, and aggressiveness (Paulhus & Williams, 2002). Subclinical narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy are referred to as the Dark Triad due to their socially undesirable nature, similar phenotypical behaviors (e.g., manipulation), positive intercorrelations of their scales, and conceptual similarities (e.g., ego-centricity) (Rauthmann, 2012). A narcissistic person is described in terms of a high vanity, constantly seeking attention and admiration, with a sense of superiority or authority. Most often he or she manifests manipulative and exhibitionist behaviors. Machiavellianism is a tendency to be cynical, pragmatic, emotionally detached in interpersonal relations but, at the same time a good organizer and having long-term strategically thinking. Psychopathy presents as cardinal features: impulsiveness, emotional detachment, manipulative antisocial behavior. In the current study 126 participants (24 males and 102 females), ages ranged between 18 and 26 years old (M=19.30, SD=1.11), were invited to fill in the following measures: MACH IV (Christie & Geis, 1970), Narcissistic Personality Inventory NPI-16 (Ames, Rose & Anderson, 2006), Self-Report Psychopathy scale – version III (Paulhus, Neumann, & Hare, 2009) and HEXACO-PI-R (Lee & Ashton, 2018). Results showed significant negative correlations between psychoticism and four of the six HEXACO factors, namely Honesty-Humility, Emotionality, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. Similarly, narcissism is negatively related to Honesty-Humility and Agreeableness, and positively with Extraversion. Machiavellianism showed a positive correlation with Honesty-Humility, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. Findings of the current study should be extended in more diverse samples (e.g., better female-male ratio) and also including measures for the Light Triad of personality, thus providing new insights into the positive, growth-oriented personality traits."

"Legal technologies not only create new ways for accessing and providing legal services, but also transform the roles of legal practitioners. Major area of the application of legal technologies are courts. Some courts, e.g., in Austria, are already using legal technologies, Germany, Brazil, France, Netherlands, Russia and others are developing legal technologies. Both lawyers and users of legal services expect automated solutions to outperform people with efficiency, objectivity and impartiality. Although perception of various characteristics of legal technologies is crucial to their implementation and use, research on the perceived characteristics of the automated processes in legal contexts have just begun. One of the major obstacles to this research is lack of comprehensive understanding what legal actions could be or already are meaningfully automated, and to what extent. The aim of this study is to map decision making stages, and automation levels, and information processing features of legal activities related to (pre)trial processes. Major legal decisions and judgments related to trial processes are identified during the consultations with legal practitioners (e.g., prosecutor, judge). Next, legal activities were described and arranged according to four-stage decision making process: information acquisition, information analysis, decision selection and decision implementation. A taxonomy of levels of automation (LOA) was customized to fit legal decision making and applied to describe each major legal activity. Lastly, dual-process model of information processing was used to delineate possible roles of intuitive and rational information processing taking place during (pre)trial decision making as they could be related to human-automation interaction. Automation level analysis provides systematic approach to interaction between humans and algorithms, along with some groundwork for the research of legal technology perceived fairness and acceptance. 10 legal activities which apply both to judge’s and prosecutor’s (potentially any other lawyer’s) legal work were discerned. The application of adapted LOA (5 levels) provided some insights into legal decision making as it allows to place existing technology, test the trust in technology threshold, and have more tangible view of automation in legal activities. Moreover, a modified hybrid default-interventionist model is proposed. It brings even more depth into analysis by specifying the role of “legal” and “heuristic” intuitions as well as the part rationalization plays in potential bias sources and formation."

"The present study was conducted to explore the perception and views of primary care staff about Depression related Stigma and Discrimination. The Basic Qualitative Research Design was employed and an In-Depth Semi-Structured Discussion Guide consisted of 7 question was developed on the domains of Pryor and Reeder Model of Stigma and Discrimination such as Self-Stigma, Stigma by Association, Structural Stigma and Institutional Stigma, to investigate the phenomenon. Initially, Field Test and Pilot study were conducted to evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of Focus Group Discussion Guide in relation to phenomena under investigation. The suggestions were incorporated in the final Discussion Guide and Focus Group was employed as a data collection measure for the conduction of the main study. A purposive sampling was employed to selected a sample of Primary Care Staff (Psychiatrists, Medical Officers, Clinical Psychologists and Psychiatric Nurses) to elicit the meaningful information. The participants were recruited from the Department of Psychiatry of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) recognized Private and Public Sector hospitals of Lahore, having experience of 3 years or more in dealing with patients diagnosed with Depression. However, for Medical Officers, the experience was restricted to less than one year based on their rotation. To maintain equal voices in the Focus Group, 12 participants were approached (3 Psychiatrist, 3 Clinical Psychologists, 3 Medical Officers and 3 Psychiatric Nurses) but total 8 participants (2 Psychiatrists, 2 Medical Officers, 3 Clinical Psychologists And 1 Psychiatric Nurse) participated in the Focus Group. The Focus Group was conducted with the help of Assistant Moderator, for an approximate duration of 90 minutes at the setting according to the ease of the participants. Further, it was audio recorded and transcribed for the analysis. The Braun and Clarke Reflexive Thematic Analysis was diligently followed through a series of six steps such as Familiarization with the Data, Coding, Generating Initial Themes, Reviewing Themes, Defining and Naming Themes. The findings highlighted two main themes i.e., Determining Factors of Mental Health Disparity and Improving Treatment Regimen: Making Consultancy Meaningful. The first theme was centered upon three subthemes such as Lack of Mental Health Literacy, Detached Attachment and Components of Stigma and Discrimination. The second theme included Establishing Contact and Providing Psychoeducation as a subtheme. The results manifested the need for awareness-based Stigma reduction intervention for Primary Care Staff aims to provide training in Psychoeducation and normalization to reduce Depression related Stigma and Discrimination among patients diagnosed with Depression."

The article has a theoretical approach in research. Relations between the terms «hardiness»; and «psychological safety», «subject of activity» and «professional’s personality» will be considered. The components of hardiness are analyzed. The issues that contradict the basic theoretical position on hardiness as the underlying psychological safety of the individual are analyzed. At a theoretical level, a connection between the hardiness and psychological safety of a professional’s personality is revealed. In theoretical terms the conceptions of a person as a personality (professional) and as a subject of professional activity are considered. The attitude of professional’s personality towards activities in the «new» conditions is revealed. Based on results of experts’ survey, a preliminary conclusion is made that a person involved in professional activity, is passionate about his/her work, professionally ready for it, quickly overcomes negative emotions connected with an emergency, the person is reorganized to work in the «new» mode, providing high performance (if the specificity of the work allows it). The issues arising in a stressful, emergency situation are being considered for the subject of professional activity. An attempt is made to describe the emergency, as well as the necessity to introduce conceptual «slogan»: «the situation of global emergency uncertainty». This situation is considered as the environment that the one created «for his/her self-preservation», to ensure the safety of mankind.

In the article, the problems of the systems of computer mathematics use as a tool for the students learning and research activities support are investigated. The promising ways of providing access to the mathematical software in the university learning and research environment are considered. The special aspects of pedagogical applications of these systems to support mathematics and computer science disciplines study in a pedagogical university are considered. The design and evaluation of the cloud-based learning components with the use of the systems of computer mathematics (on the example of the Maxima system and CoCalc) as enchasing the investigative approach to and increasing pedagogical outcomes is justified. The set of psychological and pedagogical and also technological criteria of evaluation is used to compare different approaches to the environment design. The results of pedagogical experiment are provided. The analysis and evaluation of existing experience of mathematical software use both in SaaS and IaaS cloud-based settings is proposed.

The digital transformation of society and the quarantine restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have forced the use of various digital technologies for scientific communication, the organization of work for youth associations, and the training of students and Ph.D. students. An important role in increasing the prestige of scientific activity and encouraging talented young people to participate in scientific projects belongs to the Young Scientists’ Councils, which are created at scientific institutions and higher education institutions. It is determined that the peculiarities of the work of Young Scientists’ Councils are in providing conditions for further staff development of the institution in which they operate; contribution to the social, psychological and material support of young scientists and Ph.D. students; creating an environment for teamwork and collaborative partnership; development of leadership and organizational qualities; contribution to the development of digital competence. The advantages of using electronic social networks in higher education and research institutions are analyzed, namely: general popularity and free of charge; prompt exchange of messages and multimedia data; user-friendly interface; availability of event planning functions, sending invitations, setting reminders; support of synchronous and asynchronous communication between network participants; possibility of access from various devices; a powerful tool for organizing the learning process; possibility of organization and work of closed and open groups; advertising of various events, etc. Peculiarities of managing the activity of the Young Scientists’ Council with the use of digital technologies are determined. The Young Scientists’ Council is a social system, and therefore the management of this system refers to social management. The effectiveness of the digital technologies’ usage to manage the activities of the Young Scientists’ Council depends on the intensity and need for their use to implement organizational, presentation functions and to ensure constant communication. The areas to apply digital technologies for the work managing of Young Scientists’ Councils are sorted as the presentation of activity; distribution of various information for young scientists; conducting questionnaires, surveys; organization and holding of scientific mass events; managing of thematic workgroups, holding of work meetings. It is generalized and described the experience of electronic social networks usage for organizing and conducting of scientific mass events.
