The article gives survey of the genesis of the Lithuanian periodicals and analyses the process of press development (in 1988 through 1995). The article deals with the conditions that determined emergence of the uncensored press of Sąjūdis movement during the Resurgence period (in 1988). The article reveals impact of publications of Sąjūdis movement on the Lithuanian society and the official press (in 1988 appeared about 70 publications of Sąjūdis movement) and the ways used by local individual editorial offices to disengage from "care" of the periodical press of the Communist Party. The article investigates development of the system of the Lithuanian periodical press after adoption of the Law on Mass Media (February 09, 1990) that liberated editorial offices from dependence on the Party and established the main provisions of freedom of the press. Communication process after 1990 resulted in appearance of new types of periodicals, in change of the status, publication structure and orientation of previous periodicals: a new system based on principles of self-adjustment was emerging. Appearance of multitude of different publications caused a problem of classification as there were neither criteria of classification nor types of groups of the periodicals identified. Therefore, certain data provided by statistical publications on the press do not reveal reality of journalistic practice. The author investigates structural development of the groups of different types of publications, gives survey of classification models provided by investigators of journalism and provides criteria for classification of periodicals that will enable to better reveal structural changes taking place in the system of the Lithuanian periodicals and development trends of the periodical press.

The lubrication by thin film has become a very important role in micro machine, magnetic storage device and so on. As the thickness of lubricant film becomes thinner to several nanometers, the conventional law of lubrication becomes unable to use. Nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulation (NEMD) was carried out to investigate the dynamic behavior of thin lubricant film confined between walls. The model used in these simulations is composed of two solid walls and fluorocarbon polymer lubricant. One of the walls is supporting a load and at the same time moving at constant velocity. Results indicate that the frictional behavior of confined lubricant varied with load; velocity field in the film retain liquid like structure under low load conditions, on the other hand, under high load conditions lubricant film becomes solidified and periodical stick and slip motion is observed at the layer near the wall. At the same time periodically vibrating friction force is observed. In this case, radius of gyration of lubricant molecules also changes periodically. It is concluded that the periodical vibration of friction force is caused by stick-slip with molecular deformation.

The article considers the role of periodical press bodies as exponents of the ideological views of the right-wing parties and organizations of the Volga region at the beginning of the XX century. The object of consideration is program provisions and ideological positions of a number of right-wing parties and organizations of the Volga region, the subject of the study are the periodical press bodies of these organizations, reflecting their conceptual attitudes on their pages and expanding, thanks to their format, presentation of programming details to the wide social strata. The purpose of this article is to show the opportunities of periodical press as mass media to reveal the ideological attitudes of right-wing conservative organizations. The retrospective, historical-comparative and problematic methods used for its implementation make it possible to compare the program and statutory provisions of the regional right-wing parties in the studied period with submission of their informative content in the press, to reveal redistribution and opportunities of program official documents and periodicals in this process. The conceptual ideological framework of political parties, including right-wing conservative ones, was laid down in the program and statutory provisions of organizations that had a certain textured limit. In such conditions, the periodical press organs acted as commentators on the ideological views of right-wing parties, on the one hand, and as mouthpieces and popularizers of their main ideas and political positions, on the other. The article uses specific examples to show the role of periodicals in explaining the programming of right-monarchical political parties and organizations and in broadcasting them to the masses. Based on the analysis of the publishing tasks defined by the periodicals and the slogans and subheadings placed in it, the main political views of the right-wing conservatives of the Volga region at the beginning of the XX century are revealed.

The authors of the article provide the main statistics of the Russian printed periodicals output in 2022, analyzing the typology of magazines, journals and newspapers, current state and trends in this sphere of the publishing business in Russia. The role of printed information in general and in the field of periodical publications — especially is outlined as the most reliable source of the social important information in the current conditions of the hybrid war with Western World. 13 tables with comments present the number of titles of magazines, journals and newspapers, their print runs, geography of issue, thematics and purpose. The acting normative base for the Russian state registration of printed periodicals and perspectives of its modernization is analyzed in accordance with the legislation about legal deposits, current state of publishing business and information needs of its main subjects. The article also tells about the main principles and historical traditions of the domestic statistics of printed periodicals which remain unchanged for many decades and such a situation provides the compatibility of statistical figures in this field of activities.

Recent historiography on the growth of periodical publishing has emphasized newspapers and journals as constituents of an emergent communications system in early modern Europe. This system comprised the newspapers, journals and other publications that contributed its content, and also the postal systems that were the principal method of distributing that content. This article describes how the growth of this system in central Europe was supported in large measure by financial incentives that it offered to both constituents. First, in contrast with postal systems in France and the UK, the Thurn und Taxis Reichspost inserted itself as a middleman in the sale of periodicals, which gave the Reichspost an incentive to promote the trade. Second, the financial conditions for periodical publication made their costs depend more heavily on costs that were scalable to circulation than is true today, which resulted in the viability of publications with a lower circulation. The same cost structure also made it possible for certain prominent periodicals of the era to earn considerable profits for their publishers, as illustrated in this article by Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung , which was published in Jena from 1785.

Harvesting of silage maize in late autumn on waterlogged soils may result in several ecological problems such as soil compaction and may subsequently be a major threat to soil fertility in Europe. It was hypothesized that perennial energy crops might reduce the vulnerability for soil compaction through earlier harvest dates and improved soil stability. However, the performance of such crops to be grown on soil that are periodically waterlogged and implications for soil chemical and microbial properties are currently an open issue. Within the framework of a two-year pot experiment we investigated the potential of the cup plant (Silphium perfoliatum L.), Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus), giant knotweed (Fallopia japonicum × bohemica), tall wheatgrass (Agropyron elongatum), and reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea) for cultivation under periodically waterlogged soil conditions during the winter half year and implications for soil chemical and biological properties. Examined perennial energy crops coped with periodical waterlogging and showed yields 50% to 150% higher than in the control which was never faced with waterlogging. Root formation was similar in waterlogged and non-waterlogged soil layers. Soil chemical and microbial properties clearly responded to different soil moisture treatments. For example, dehydrogenase activity was two to four times higher in the periodically waterlogged treatment compared to the control. Despite waterlogging, aerobic microbial activity was significantly elevated indicating morphological and metabolic adaptation of the perennial crops to withstand waterlogged conditions. Thus, our results reveal first evidence of a site-adapted biomass production on periodical waterlogged soils through the cultivation of perennial energy crops and for intense plant microbe interactions.

The goal of this article consists in examination of periodical press issued by the Student Youth Unions of the Russian Far East in the early XX century. Based on the publications of archival printed sources, the author explores the conditions of creation, typological and informative peculiarities of the periodicals in the context of political-economic and sociocultural situation of the 1900-1922. The geography of the current research spreads to the entire Far East. Taking into account the historical context, the boundaries of the conducted research were extended to Zabaykalsky Krai – region that is historically referred to the Russian Far East, and zone of the Chinese Eastern Railway – Northeast China. The research is philological in its essence, leans on the interdisciplinary approach and synthesizes the knowledge of different sciences: literary studies, theory and history of journalism, and culturology. The scientific novelty consists in attraction of the new factual evidence – publication of periodical press that have not previously been the subject of analysis among the Russian and foreign scholars. The new approach in studying Russian journalism of the early XX century became the research of the general patterns of development, as well as peculiarities of functioning of the separate periodicals issued by the Student Youth Unions of the Russian Far East.

The article is devoted to the reflection in the periodical press of the Rostov region of 1950-1970 of the social policy of the state aimed at the development of state support for women, protection of mother-hood and childhood, improvement of living conditions of the Soviet family. The article reflects the activities of the state in the implementation of individual measures and the response of society to the initiatives of the Soviet government. Special attention is paid to the materials of the periodical press, on the pages of which the problems of motherhood and childhood in the Rostov region are reflected, the priority of solving certain issues by state authorities is revealed. The importance of publications in newspapers on this subject is noted, as the most accessible and mass forms of periodicals for broadcasting the necessary vector of state policy to society. It is concluded that with the help of printing in the Rostov region, an ideal inseparable image of a working woman and a woman-mother was purposefully constructed. In addition, there was a popularization of the thesis about the purposeful efforts of the leadership of the country's social services of the necessary conditions for a work-ing woman during her employment at work, and the simultaneous upbringing of children in kindergartens and nurseries.

The periodical movements of discrete phase lock systems with input signal are examined in this paper. The conditions and regions of existence of different periodical movements are considered. The structure of these regions in a parameter space is investigated for systems of first and second orders. The qualitative and numeral estimations of global tracking region are obtained for system with saw-tooth phase detector characteristic.

This study examined public perception of the social relevance of Christian churches in the year the New Poor Law was passed. The first two chapters presented historiography concerning the Voluntary crisis which threatened the Anglican establishment, and the relationship of Christian churches to the New Poor Law. Chapters 4, 5, and 6 revealed the recurring image of "true" Christianity in its relation to the church crisis and the New Poor Law in the working men's, political, and religious periodical press. The study demonstrated a particular working class interest in Christianity and the effect of evangelicalism on religious renewal and social concerns. Orthodox Christians, embroiled in religious and political controversy, articulated practical concern for the poor less effectively than secularists.

After many deadlocks, accusations of negotiating in bad faith, marches and lunch-time pickets, more than 600,000 Public Sector Workers went on strike on 24 August 1999. The government then unilaterally implemented a 6.3% increase for public servants against their original demand of 10-15% increase. "The dispute goes back to January 1999, to a workshop dealing with the budgetary process. At this meeting the Department of Finance outlined its Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, for the first time to the public sector workers. In the MTEF the parameters for wage cuts, and 'non-negotiability’ were already set. All unions in the public service bargaining council presented their wage demands - 10% to 15%” [COSATU paper on Public Sector Workers Fight for a Living Wage.] Thereafter COSATU and government officials met over the next few months until May 1999, when a dispute was declared. On the 29th March 1999, COSATU commented ‘To the Unions it is clear, government is not prepared to negotiate - it has already made up its mind’ [COSATU document - Public Sector Workers Fight for a Living Wage] During the period May-June COSATU Unions decided to “throw their weight behind the ANC election campaign.’’[ibid.]. By the August 1999 the unions compromised their demand from 10% to 7.3% increase. Towards the end of August the government unilaterally implemented ei 6.3% increase for public sector workers, and 4% increase for itself. It then went on an ideological media campaign against the workers claiming that the 4% increase for members of parliament is much less than what has been granted to the public sector workers.

Unsteady flow fields over a NACA 0012 at an angle of attack are investigated. The first is the classical pitching motion about the airfoil's quarter chord. The second is the flow over a fixed airfoil immersed in the wake of the pitching airfoil. Large reduced frequencies are considered. Measurements were obtained in a water tunnel by Laser-Doppler velocimetry. Ensemble-averaged velocity measurements were obtained in the vicinity of the trailing edges of both the pitching and the fixed airfoils. The flowfields in the wake and at the trailing edges of both airfoils were studied visually. The validity of the quasi-steady and an extension to an unsteady Kutta condition are examined. A new dynamic similarity parameter is proposed. An analytical method based on the dynamics of discrete vortices is employed. Numerical calculations of the flow over the fixed airfoil are compared with experimental results.

We explore the nature of driven stochastic lattice systems with non-periodic boundary conditions. The systems consist of particle and holes which move by exchanges of nearest neighbor particle-hole pairs. These exchanges are controlled by the energetics associated with an internal Hamiltonian, an external drive and a stochastic coupling to a heat reservoir. The effect of the drive is to bias particle-hole exchanges along the field in such a way that a particle current can be established. Hard-core volume constraints limit the occupation of only one particle (hole) per lattice site. For certain regimes of the overall particle density and temperature, a system displays a homogeneous disordered phase. We investigate cooperative behavior in this phase by using two-point spatial correlation functions and structure factors. By varying the particle density and the temperature, the system orders into a phase separated state, consisting of particle-rich and particle-poor regions. The temperature and density for the co-existence state depend on the boundary conditions. By using Monte Carlo simulations, we establish co-existence curves for systems with shifted periodic boundary conditions.

Cette thèse a pour objet l'étude de l'équation du plus bas niveau de Landau, dans plusieurs contextes pertinents en physique et provient des modèles pour les condensats de Bose-Einstein. Nous nous penchons spécifiquement sur trois aspects liés à l'équation. Le premier est l'étude d'une classe de solutions appelées ondes stationnaires, à travers la minimisation d'une fonctionnelle énergie. Nous montrons notamment que la gaussienne est l'unique minimiseur global à symétries près pour un certain paramètre, à l'aide d'algèbre linéaire et bilinéaire. Le deuxième point concerne la conjecture de réseau d'Abrikosov. Nous investiguons l'équation avec ajout de conditions périodiques, et la linéarisons autour des réseaux. Nous aboutirons à la stabilité du réseau hexagonal. Le troisième et dernier aspect porte sur les ondes progressives pour l'équation couplée du plus bas niveau de Landau. Nous classifions de telles solutions ayant un nombre fini de zéros, et en déduisons l'existence de solutions dont les normes de Sobolev croissent
The aim of this thesis is to study the Lowest Landau Level equation, in several contexts relevant to physics and originating from models for Bose-Einstein condensates. In particular, we investigate three aspects of the equation. The first is the study of a class of solutions called stationary waves, through the minimization of an energy functional. In particular, we show that the Gaussian is the only global minimizer up to symmetries for a certain parameter, using linear and bilinear algebra tools. The second point concerns the Abrikosov lattice conjecture. We investigate the equation with the addition of periodic conditions, and linearize it around lattices. This results in the stability of the hexagonal lattice. The third and final aspect concerns progressive waves for the coupled Lowest Landau Level equation. We classify such solutions with a finite number of zeros, and deduce the existence of solutions with growing Sobolev norms

Анотація:
The aim of this paper is to find out an appropriate configuration of boundary conditions and geometric model to calculate the ultimate strength of a continuous stiffened panel under uniaxial compressive loading in FE analysis. The 1+1 bays model with periodical symmetric boundary conditions is proposed to be used in FE analysis, whose results are compared with 1/2+1+1/2 bays model with periodical symmetric and symmetric boundary conditions, and 1/2+1+1+1/2 bays model with symmetric boundary conditions. The effects of the continuity of the stiffened panel with different geometric models and boundary conditions on its collapse mode are investigated. A beam tension test has been used to define the true stress-strain relationship.

In this paper, nonlinear dynamics mechanism of a brake system under a periodical excitation is investigated. The corresponding motion for such a system is described. The conditions for motion switching and sliding on the boundary are developed. Based on the discontinuous boundaries of motion, the basic mappings are introduced and the mapping structures for periodic motions are developed. Illustrations of periodic motions will be presented from analytical predictions.

Анотація:
The grazing bifurcation and periodic motion switching of the harmonically forced, piecewise linear system with impacting are investigated. The generic mappings based on the discontinuous boundaries are introduced. Furthermore, the mapping structures are developed for the analytical prediction of periodic motions in such a system. The local stability and bifurcation conditions for specified periodic motions are obtained. The regular and grazing, periodic motions are illustrated. The grazing is the origin of the periodic motion switching for this system. Such a grazing bifurcation cannot be estimated through the local stability analysis. This model is applicable to prediction of periodic motions in nonlinear dynamics of gear transmission systems.
