<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> Nowadays, the employment of rapid mapping solutions for architectural survey is more and more considered, not only for the strong reduction of the primary data acquisition times, but also thanks to their adaptability to various contexts, especially in the framework of Cultural Heritage documentation where tailored solutions are required. The combined use of Mobile Mapping Systems (MMS), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for close range aerial image acquisition, and Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) seems to be an effective solution for the architectonic scale compliant to the level of detail and accuracy of 1&amp;thinsp;:&amp;thinsp;200, and 1&amp;thinsp;:&amp;thinsp;100 scales. The present research tries to evaluate the use of a handheld MMS, the ZEB-Revo RT by Geoslam, an UAV, the DJI Mavic Pro, and a LiDAR system, the Faro Focus<sup>3D</sup> S 120 by CAM2. The complex case of the documentation metric survey of Palazzo Ducale in Gubbio, the Montefeltro’s Palace, now hosting the museum of itself, allows the comparison of the effectiveness of the used technologies.</p>

Abstract The indoor climate of historic buildings is governed by the desire to preserve them, their interiors and to ensure human comfort. For preservation of cultural heritage and libraries, relative humidity and temperature are very important parameters, including their amplitudes and changes rate in time. In the present study an experimental campaign of thermo-hygrometric parameters inside of “Sala del Dottorato”, located in Palazzo Murena (Perugia), is carried out. In this room a great number of rare and ancient books are preserved. The paper deals with the study and the evaluation of the correlation between outdoor and indoor microclimate conditions in the room, to ensure the proper conservation of the books; it is aimed at understanding how the two parameters follow outdoor variations and how the hygrothermal inertia of the building can mitigate these variations. This is done, specifically for temperature, which is the most critical aspect. Thanks to a continuous monitoring system for indoor and outdoor thermo-hygrometric parameters, a Multiple Linear Regression model is developed in order to predict and analyse the indoor temperature trend. This model allows to estimate a future forecast of this parameter and to predict in advance critical conditions for correct conservation.

The 2023 UIT (Italian Union of Thermo-Fluid Dynamics) International Conference, hereafter referred as 40th UIT 2023, was organized by the Department of Engineering at the University of Perugia (Italy), in collaboration with the UIT, on June 26-28 2023, at Palazzo Bernabei, Assisi. The annual UIT Conference was held in Assisi for the first time. The scope of the Conference covered a range of topics in computational fluid-dynamics and heat transfer; thermophysical properties; heat and mass transfer for sustainable energy systems; experimental techniques for heat and mass transfer; multiphase fluid-dynamics; natural, forced and mixed convection. The 40th UIT Heat Transfer Conference 2023 program scheduled three keynote lectures by international recognised scientists: Ibrahim Dincer from Ontario Tech. University (Oshawa, Ontario) about the role of thermodynamics in integrated energy systems; Gary Neil Coleman from NASA Langley Research Center (Hampton, USA) about numerical studies of turbulent supersonic plane-channel flows; and Sauro Filippeschi from University of Pisa (Italy) about wickless two phase heat transfer devices. A total of 97 papers were submitted to the 40th UIT Heat Transfer Conference 2023, 75 of which presented by the Authors in oral sessions and the remaining 22 in one poster session. About 150 researchers participated to the 40th UIT 2023. The Conference was a useful occasion to stimulate discussion, further understanding about heat transfer and related phenomena, present the state-of-the-art of some topics, discuss emerging trends, and promote collaborations. The Organizing Committee hopes that the event results constituted a significant contribution to the knowledge in the fields of thermos-fluid dynamics and heat transfer. AbstractThe COVID-19 pandemic caused despair, poverty and, above all, pain and death across the planet. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that it has also given a strong global impetus to the digital world, asserting its importance, sustainability and richness of perspectives. With our work we intend to establish a set of best practices aimed at defining methods and technologies that will enable those fascinated by digital technologies to contribute effectively to the digitisation of cultural heritage on a large scale. Various aspects that play a crucial role in the digitisation of artifacts will be discussed, with a focus on the issues involved in the manual realisation of works using Blender and Unity software. For demonstration purposes, two very popular use cases in the Umbria region of Italy are presented: “Piazza IV Novembre” in Perugia with the magnificent “Fontana Maggiore”, the “Palazzo dei Priori” and the Duomo on one side and the Republic square in Foligno on the other, with the Duomo, the Bishop’s house and the Diocesan Museum, the Town Hall and “Palazzo Trinci”. The first realization was carried out using photogrammetry techniques, the software Blender and Unity, while the second was carried out exclusively with Blender and Unity.The theme is highly relevant in Europe, particularly Italy, where the topic is part of the post-COVID-19 National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
