This study aims to find out the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training for company doctors at OHS Training Center Medan.; the obstacles in the implementation of OHS training of corporate doctors in OHS Training Center Medan.; the efforts implemented on the company's OHS doctor training. This research is a qualitative descriptive research and data collection techniques including, interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects in the study were 10 people and the data validity technique used was source triangulation. The results showed that the implementation of OHS for company doctors at The OHS Training Center Medan has been carried out; the obstacles to the implementation of OHS from the human factor such as there are still participants who do not comply with the rules. Obstacles from environmental factors are; the amount of Personal Protective Equipment has not met the needs of trainees, there has been no OHS warning in the practice room, lack of instructor supervision during practice in the field; the efforts to overcome obstacles in the implementation of OHS, such as providing socialization, the availability of personal protective equipment and work safety equipment for participants, reprimanding participants who violate the rules and imposing strict sanctions for violators of the code of conduct who commit repeated violations.

Attitudes and beliefs about parent participation in occupational therapy are shifting toward family-centered practice worldwide. However, adopting a family-centered approach in a society such as Korea, where a Confucian culture of hierarchical roles is reflected in a strong medical model, can prove to be very difficult. A parent training program was developed at the HOPE Center, a pediatric occupational therapy center, to bridge the gap between the traditional medical model and the ideal family-centered model. This study examined the effectiveness of the parent training and gauged parents’ perceptions and experiences of a more family-centered approach to therapy. Four parent-child dyads living with autism participated in five months of parent training at the HOPE center. The results on the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure showed that the parent training improved the occupational performance of both children and parents. Six open-ended questions were used to investigate parents’ perceptions and experiences of parent training. Two broad themes emerged: improved self-efficacy and the cultural reality of living with autism in Korea. This study demonstrates that building parent training into an occupational therapy program may optimize the effectiveness of any therapy and introduce a more family-centered approach to therapy while maintaining cultural integrity.

As global and national markets become more competitive, businesses are forced to become more adaptable and the public service is by no means exempt from this phenomenon. Owing to a dynamic and ever-changing work environment, it is necessary for public servant employees to continuously update their knowledge and skills. However, in most organisations, the impact of training and development programmes are undermined. The value placed on increasing knowledge and skills is limited to attending a training programme. As a result, the newly acquired information and competencies are very seldom transferred from the classroom to the workplace and without a definite increase in performance and in service delivery; the contribution of actual learning is questionable. This research study therefore uses the Integrated Integrated Human Resource Administration and Persal (IHRAP) Programme (presented by the Western Cape Provincial Training Institute) to gauge the importance of post training evaluation and the benefits that can be derived from it, both for the department and the employee. In addition, the study evaluates whether the participants of the training programme are able to apply concepts and techniques learned in the classroom. It focuses specifically on human resource employees employed within the Provincial Government of the Western Cape, who is responsible for performing a number of different human resource functions. A survey was conducted amongst the participants of the IHRAP programme using a research questionnaire. After the results of the survey were collected and analysed, the researcher was able to determine where there were gaps in the post training evaluation process. Several recommendations are made to bridge these gaps and in doing so, enable the training programme to have a greater impact on the participants and in the workplace. In addition to evaluating the IHRAP programme, the need for continuous improvement in skills will always be essential, but departments must create the opportunities for participants to exercise these acquired skills effectively.

Nowadays, the numerous social, environmental and economic changes that take place on the planet have a rapid impact on the life of individuals, which, some centuries ago could take years, now happens almost instantaneously. However many of these challenges, apparently without possibility or expectation for some sort of resolution we need to just live together, such as environmental problems, deepening economic inequalities. On their side organizations in their great majority try to adopt procedures to minimize possible clashes that certain problems can cause, in turn the competence that could be developed from collaborators turns into just another internal process to be executed and delivered. Considering the importance of skills development and relating it into an existing process, some organizations such as TBL, taking into account the relevance of the objectives of sustainable development, it would be possible to verify in individuals that studied there, pass through an institution of education of technological formation, the Centro Paula Souza, which is oriented by the development of skills and abilities. In this sense, reaching the main objective of this study which is to analyze the relationship between the sustainability content taught in the Management and Business courses of the Centro Paula Souza and its incorporation by the graduates in the exercise of their professional activities. For this, the methodology adopted is characterized by the case study that is divided into: documentary research of the Centro Paula Souza; the analysis of the quantitative research as secondary source "Teacher Training"; and the interviews: with the training coordination of the Center Paula Souza, and with the graduates; finally, the analysis of the data. In this way the results were the documented confirmation that there is a relationship between the pillars of the TBL model and the guidelines of the Center Paula Souza, including the objectives of sustainable development, and the interviews conducted with the graduates, subdivided into blocks of analysis to identify competencies. It was possible to conclude that, based on the findings presented in the interviews that graduates have competencies that are tied to the pillars and intersections of the TBL, making it possible to assign the emergence and development of sustainable skills in these graduates
Na atualidade, as inúmeras mudanças sociais, ambientais e econômicas ocorridas no planeta traz um impacto rápido na vida dos indivíduos. O que há alguns séculos poderia demorar anos, agora acontece quase que de forma instantânea. Entretanto, muitos desses desafios, aparentemente não têm possibilidade ou expectativa de algum tipo de resolução, como os problemas ambientais e o aprofundamento das desigualdades econômicas. Já as organizações, em sua grande maioria, tentam na inserção de procedimentos minimizar os possíveis embates que determinados problemas podem ocasionar; por sua vez, a competência que poderia ser desenvolvida nos colaboradores trata-se apenas de mais um processo interno a ser executado e entregue. Ao se considerar a importância do desenvolvimento das competências e relacioná-las com um processo existente em algumas organizações como o TBL, levando em consideração a relevância dos objetivos do desenvolvimento sustentável, seria possível constatar aspectos sustentáveis em indivíduos que passam por uma instituição de ensino de formação tecnológica, o Centro Paula Souza, que é orientada pelo desenvolvimento por competências e habilidades, chegando, nesse sentido ao objetivo principal deste estudo, que é analisar a relação entre os conteúdos de sustentabilidade ministrados nos cursos de Gestão e Negócios do Centro Paula Souza e a sua incorporação, pelos egressos, no exercício de suas atividades profissionais. Para isso, a metodologia adotada caracteriza-se pelo estudo de caso e está dividida em: pesquisa documental do Centro Paula Souza; análise da pesquisa quantitativa fonte secundária “Formação de Professores”; e as entrevistas com a coordenação de capacitação do Centro Paula Souza e com os egressos, e, finalmente, a análise dos dados. Dessa maneira, os resultados foram a confirmação documental de que existe relação entre os pilares do modelo TBL e as orientações do Centro Paula Souza, incluindo os objetivos do desenvolvimento sustentável. E pelas entrevistas realizadas com os egressos, subdivididas em blocos de análise, foi possível identificar as competências (sustentáveis), reconhecer as ações de reponsabilidade social nas organizações, compreender a influência do ensino do Centro Paula Souza na formação profissional do egresso e os vínculos existentes entre o plano de curso e critérios do TBL. Por constatações apresentadas nas entrevistas, foi possível concluir ainda que os egressos possuem competências que estão atreladas aos pilares e às intersecções do TBL, possibilitando sinalizar o surgimento e o desenvolvimento de competências sustentáveis nesses egressos

Se trata de un estudio mixto de cinco años de investigación en los centros de educación especial que imparten los talleres de formación laboral (TFL) a estudiantes sordos en el Estado de Jalisco (México). El objetivo principal es analizar la situación actual de los TFL dirigidos a los estudiantes sordos y realizar posibles propuestas para su optimización. Seleccionamos una muestra de setenta participantes. Metodológicamente aplicamos cuestionarios basados en el marco de referencia de Stufflebeam (1987), entrevistas y Grupos Focales. Utilizamos el programa QDA Miner Lite para el análisis de resultados cualitativos. Los resultados sugieren que a pesar de que el 86% de los sordos mexicanos entre tres y veintinueve años no ingresa a la escuela, en los últimos diez años se ha mejorado la educación bilingüe de los sordos. Una muestra de ello es el Estado de Jalisco, México, quien presenta un progreso significativo en la educación bilingüe en Lengua de Señas- Español para la población sorda, lo que ha permitido una mejor inserción laboral de esta población. Los entrevistados Sordos demandan grupos exclusivos de estudiantes sordos, tecnología de video grabación, un profesor Sordo dentro de cada grupo de sordos, además de innovación en el contenido de los talleres. Los padres de familia proponen un año de servicio social en empresas durante el tercer grado de secundaria Entre las necesidades destacan la renovación de material electrónico, grupos exclusivos de estudiantes sordos durante la escuela básica, intérpretes, optimización de los talleres laborales y revisión de las políticas nacionales para atender las necesidades educativas especiales. La escuela Centro de Atención Múltiple (CAM) Sabino Cruz y la población Sorda entrevistada, reportan un detrimento del rendimiento académico de los sordos debido a su repentina incorporación en escuelas regulares donde los profesores desconocen en su mayoría la Lengua de Señas Mexicana. En base a nuestros resultados, proponemos el cumplimiento de la ley en el marco nacional e internacional para la revisión de la metodología de enseñanza de los sordos mexicanos. Describimos que las políticas educativas europeas para la discapacidad pueden servir de modelo para las políticas educativas latinoamericanas. Con la finalidad de trabajar aunados y en colaboración en beneficio de la optimización de la educación de estas poblaciones, proponemos la creación del proyecto RED de colaboración entre Europa y América Latina para impulsar, desde Europa, proyectos bilingües–biculturales en los países participantes de RED. Esta investigación es posible gracias al financiamiento del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología de México (CONACYT, 223224).
We present a five-year study (2012-2014) on special education centers that offer Job training programs (TFL) to students with hearing disabilities in the State of Jalisco, Mexico. We used several techniques such as questionnaires, semi directed interviews and focus groups. All these materials have been recorded on video and then transcribed. This study has been focused on TFL workshops and on identifying CAM Sabino Cruz’s center needs. The whole study counts with 70 participants as sample group. As instruments to approach the research, we used semi- directed interviews, questionnaires based on the framework of Stufflebeam (1987) and Qualitative Data Analysis program (QDA Miner Lite) for the qualitative analysis. The results describe all the strengths, needs and constraints of the center. As strengths, we identified a secondary education curriculum designed to special needs, training courses to all the Mexican Sign Language (LSM) teachers and, teaching the deaf a profession, and, furthermore, giving them some workshops as a tool to support their learning. Among the main needs of CAM are: the renewal/replacement of electronic material support for education, including a teacher as a “deaf model” within the Center, the presence of an audiologist at the Center, and getting some materials for the workshops. On the other hand, parents have proposed the students to carry out a year of social service once they reach the third year of secondary school. Within the limitations of CAM; they said that changes in the national education policy, have been less convenient for Deaf students because when students with other disabilities where allowed to enroll in this center, all those services that had been offered for kinder garden deaf students were lost. There have been profound differences in the students’ academic improvement and achievement; the LSM management levels among the students have decreased because of prior LSM teaching deficiency. According to their experience, graduates give recommendation on how to optimize those courses given to Secondary school students. As result of this research, and from this figures, we propose a project of bilingual education NETWORK for Deaf people between Europe and Latin-America (REDBS).

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Students graduate from Boland College after obtaining the National Certificates N4 – N6 in Tourism. I have been working at Boland College Stellenbosch Campus as a tourism lecturer for 12 years and over the past few years I have found that students have been struggling to find employment in the tourism industry on completion of their studies. The national tourism curriculum offered at FET colleges was implemented in 1995 with the last renewal in 2001 for selected subjects. The tourism industry, however, is a vibrant, ever-changing industry which stands in direct contrast with a static, needs-insensitive and unchanging curriculum. The aim of this study was to establish in which respects the current national tourism curriculum corresponds, or does not correspond, with what the tourism industry in Stellenbosch requires from entry-level employees in terms of expected skills, knowledge and attitudes. Qualitative methods were used to generate data from employers representing the tourism industry in Stellenbosch, graduates and lecturers from Boland College. Research participants were interviewed using semi-structured interviews. The data was analysed by doing verbatim transcriptions of the interviews, using coding and an Excel spread sheet analysis. The results revealed specific areas where the current national tourism curriculum does not correspond with the expectations and needs that the tourism industry in Stellenbosch has from entry-level employees in terms of expected skills, knowledge and attitudes.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Studente ontvang ‘n kwalifikasie in Toerisme nadat hulle die Nasionale Sertifikate N4 – N6 in Toerisme voltooi het. Ek werk die afgelope 12 jaar as toerismedosent by Boland Kollege Stellenbosch Kampus. Gedurende die afgelope paar jaar het ek gevind dat studente sukkel om werk te kry in die toerismebedryf nadat hulle hul studies voltooi het. Die nasionale toerisme-kurrikulum wat by VOO Kolleges aangebied word, is in 1995 geïmplementeer en die laaste keer in 2001 hernu en boonop slegs in sekere vakke. Die toerismebedryf is egter ‘n lewendige, vinnig-veranderende industrie in direkte teenstelling met die statiese, onveranderde kurrikulum wat oënskynlik nie sensitief genoeg is vir die behoeftes van die toerismebedryf nie. Die doel van hierdie studie was om vas te stel in watter mate die huidige nasionale toerisme-kurrikulum ooreenstem, of nie ooreenstem nie, met wat die toerismebedryf in Stellenbosch verwag van intreevlak-werknemers in terme van verwagte vaardighede, kennis en houdings. Kwalitatiewe metodes is gebruik om data te genereer en onderhoude is gevoer met werkgewers wat die toerismebedryf in Stellenbosch verteenwoordig asook gegradueerdes en dosente van Boland Kollege. Daar is hoofsaaklik gebruik gemaak van semi-gestruktueerde onderhoude. Die data-analise het bestaan uit verbatim getranskribeerde onderhoude, die kodering daarvan asook ‘n genoteerde Excel-ontledingstaat. Die resultate van die studie dui op spesifieke aspekte van die nasionale toerisme kurrikulum wat nie ooreenstem met die verwagtinge en behoeftes wat die toerisme-industrie in Stellenbosch het van intreevlak werknemers in terme van vaardighede, kennis en houdings nie.

The purpose of occupation training is to enhance personal skill, to incubate individual’s independence and confidence, and to make an individual adapt to the job environment. No matter in theory or in practice, occupation training is usually highly related to outer environmental change, and the growth of an enterprise is usually highly related to the career development of a labor as well; hence, the urgent need of occupation training is even serious than before. The main objective of this study is to investigate the mutual influential relationship among four variables such as occupation training quality, organizational dynamic capability, training effectiveness and individual’s competence, meanwhile, it also investigates if an individual’s competence shows significant mediating effect on occupation training quality and training effectiveness. In this study, questionnaire survey method is used, and 351 copies of internet questionnaires are returned; 118 copies of paper questionnaire are issued, and the real returned copies are 102, with the deduction of 39 invalid questionnaires such as random answering and missing fill-up of questionnaire, the effective questionnaire comes to a total of 414 copies. Moreover, Linear Structural Relations Model (AMOS) is used to verify its deduction and hypothesis. The verification results of this study are: 1. The quality of occupation training shows significant and positive effect on organizational dynamic capability. 2. The quality of occupation training shows significant and positive effect on training effectiveness. 3. The quality of occupation training shows significant and positive effect on individual’s competence. 4. Individual’s competence shows significant and positive effect on training effectiveness. 5. Dynamic capability shows significant and positive effect on training effectiveness. 6. Individual’s competence shows significant mediating effect on occupation training quality and training effectiveness.

Renovation of Defense Force is a series of non-stop processes, including not merely hysical weapon renovations, streamlining of systems, organizations, trainings and military theories, but also at the same time cultural renovations, promotion on management mechanisms and non-stop improving of how people think. This research focuses on how MOS (military occupational specialty) instructors (with different backgrounds and specialties) in an Army Branch Training Center would accept the overall policy on “Digital Learning” implemented by the MND (Ministry of National Defense), in order to discover answers to the following questions: (1)How well can these instructors participate on digital learning? (2)How can MND policy on “Digital Learning” influence these soldiers (and instructors)? This research had been conducted through questionnaires on 104 MOS instructors of a chosen Army Branch Training Center, and the outcome was a result after calculated statistically under oriented-descriptions, independent t-sample Examinations and single-variable analysis via IBM SPSS-22. The outcome of the research tells us that MOS instructors will react positively on” Acknowledgement on Usefulness” in face of “Computer-related anxiety”, and they also have high interest on “Acknowledgement on Simple Problem-Shooting” when facing “Self-Oriented Learning”, “A Supportive Working Environment”. Different hierarchical branches (Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers) can also affect how well one accepts “Digital Learning System”.

This thesis aims at exploring assessment index of the electric- machinery professional category in the public job training centers in Taiwan. To achieve the research objective, we compile the questionnaires to the assessment index of the electric-machinery professional category in the public job training centers in Taiwan as a research tool. By means of questionnaires and stratified random sample, we focus on the trainers as the mother group from the 13 public job training centers nation-wide, sampling 55 electric-machinery professional trainers and 60 administrators as the objects of study. The statistical analyses used in this thesis mainly include frequency allocation, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and One-way ANOVA, etc. The following conclusions and suggestions are acquired and presented after a series of analyses. 1.There are ten facets in conclusion as far as electric-machinery professional assessment index is concerned, such as, class-opening requirement and plan, the training objectives, the application of faculty, the training materials, the practice of training, the materials and facility of machinery, the measures of factory safety, the room and space of training, the effect of training, and other features. Accordingly, we develop 81 items for reference guides. 2.All the trainers are inclined to choose “importance” to the overall importance of the electric-machinery professional assessment index. 3.The trainers under different backgrounds, such as “professional types, teaching seniority, educational background and working experience, held dissimilar opinions to the following facets, the practice of training, the room and space of training, the materials of training and the application of faculty. But they were unanimous otherwise. According to the literature analysis, research discovery and the conclusions, the researcher presents some suggestions to the job-training authorities concerned, job-training centers, the electric-machinery professional trainers and the follows-on so as to improve training and follow-up research as a reference.

Human capital is central to current debates about the sources of growth and divergence in the premodern economy. Apprenticeship, the key formal arrangement by which occupational skills were transferred in this period, has in the past often been associated with guild monopolies and exclusion, implying a drag on the accumulation of human capital. Several stimulating recent contributions have pointed to apprenticeship as a potentially important explanation for English or European advances in manufacturing and technology in the run up to industrialisation. In this paper, we explore mechanisms that helped improve quality among artisans. We focus on one in particular: the selection of training masters by apprentices.

Economists and social scientists are increasingly making use of web data to address socio-economic issues and to integrate existing sources of information. The data produced by online platforms and websites could produce a lot of useful and multidimensional information with a variety of potential applications in socio-economic analysis. In this respect, with the internet growth and knowledge, many aspects of job search have been transformed due to the availability of online tools for job searching, candidate searching and job matching. In European countries there is growing interest in designing and implementing real labour market information system applications for internet labour market data in order to support policy design and evaluation through evidence-based decision-making. The analysis of labour market web data could provide useful information for policy-makers to define labour market strategies as big data, jointly with official statistics, support policy makers in a pressing policy question namely “How to tackle the mismatch between jobs and skills?”. In this regard, the topic of skills gap, how to measure it and how to bridge it with education and continuous training have been tackled by using the big data collection, such as the Cedefop (European Center for the Development of Vocational Training) initiative and the Wollybi Project (made by Burning Glass). In this framework, this contribution focuses on the issues arising from the use (and the usefulness) of on-line job vacancy data to analyse the Italian labour market by using the Wollybi data available for the years 2019 and 2020. Furthermore, the availability of data for the year 2020, will allow us to evaluate whether there has been an impact of COVID19 in terms of needed skills and required occupations in the online job vacancies.

This chapter presents an experience carried out in an occupational center from the south of Spain, in which a formal research was essayed related to the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) by persons with a variety of intellectual disabilities as a mean for increasing their autonomy in Activities of Daily Living (ADL). An accessible and friendly interface was designed to make the use of the computerized training program as easy and attractive as possible. The use of this program was monitored and the perception of changes in the execution of ADL was rated both by the supervisors at the occupational center and by the families or tutors of the subjects. The authors measured an increase of up to 10% in autonomy in some categories of ADL, proving the free online software they designed for the training program to be effective.

Introduction: Leprosy is an infectious disease, of slow and progressive evolution and with high disabling power, which can result in temporary and/or permanent physical deformities. This study aimed to report the experience of students from the State University of Pará (UEPA) of the Occupational Therapy course in interventions with the application of the Exercise Activity Protocol (EAP) in patients with leprosy sequelae in the hands. Method: This is an experience report, elaborated through occupational therapeutic care from the extension project "Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology: Exercise Activity Protocol for patients with disability due to leprosy", carried out at the Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER III)/Teaching and Assistance Unit of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy (UEAFTO)/Laboratory of Assistive Technology (LABTA), located at the Center for Biological and Health Sciences (CCBS) of UEPA. Results: A significant muscle strength deficit was observed, characterized by difficulties in performing Activities of Daily Living and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living. Discussion: The activities carried out aimed to ensure comprehensive health care for patients with leprosy sequelae by associating rehabilitation and assistive technology. Final considerations: The experience provided a better understanding of leprosy and its biopsychosocial consequences, causing deformities and physical disabilities, which contributed to the professional development and academic training of the students.

Abstract This systematic review highlights the effectiveness of activity- and occupation-based interventions utilized with people recovering from traumatic brain injury (TBI), to improve participation in daily activities and social participation. Five themes emerged from the synthesis of 19 studies: the use of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary intervention approaches, community-based rehabilitation programs, client-centered goals and relevant contexts, interventions including social skills training and peer mentoring, and community mobility interventions. There was moderate evidence that multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches, community-based rehabilitation programs, and a focus on client-centered goals delivered in a relevant context by an occupational therapist could improve occupational performance following TBI. Limited evidence was found for the best approach to improving social skills and community mobility. The specific contribution of occupational therapy intervention for this patient population has not been well studied, and additional research is needed to determine the nature and extent of occupational therapy intervention for individual patients.

Darjeeling’s famed tea plantations are staffed almost exclusively by an Indian Nepali (or Gorkha) labour force, whose ability to advance beyond field labour has been severely limited. In 2008, retired Gorkha plantation managers founded the Darjeeling Tea Management Training Centre (DTMTC). Though it was modeled on similar training programs, DTMTC’s goal had a twist: to prepare Gorkhas as plantation managers. According to DTMTC teachers, the contemporary Darjeeling tea industry remains precarious, stemming from a lack of knowledge on the part of Gorkhas as to how to run the industry. The DTMTC, then, was a novel blend of vocational training and political action. This chapter explores how the institute’s goals were interwoven with ideas of connection between people, plants and moral obligations to care for a Gorkha landscape—a landscape that might be improved with the right kinds of training.

Employability is a crucial aspect of the European Higher Education Area. Thus, the overriding aim of curricula is the integration of knowledge (specific competencies) and personal/ occupational skills (generic/ transversal competencies). The teamwork competency is important in achieving the goal of graduate employability. Applied to the case of the financial management subject at the University of Extremadura (Spain), this study analyses the assessments of a group of students and a group of teachers of the use of teamwork activity in the acquisition of knowledge and generic competencies. The findings, both for students and teachers, lead to recommend that the centres quality committees advise the use of teamwork in subjects which do not yet apply this learning methodology.

Abstract This chapter begins by describing the common assumption that schools need to prepare more students for technical careers and that the best way to do this is to teach for technical content knowledge in science courses. It examines this assumption by looking at statistics from places such as the National Center for Education Statistics, the National Science Foundation, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics to see, in fact, how many beginning high school students go on to earn science or science-related postsecondary degrees and then go on to employment in science-related occupations. It finds that only a fraction of students (about 6 percent) end up following this path. Moreover, data from various sources show similarly that only a fraction of occupations in the United States are in science or science-related fields. This illustrates that school science courses should, therefore, not focus primarily on the technical training goal of science education, but rather on teaching science for the citizen or non-science-bound student.

The case presented in this chapter submits a general consensus about the role of leadership in a university public training program. Focusing on short training programs provided by the Centre for Continuing Education of the University of Botswana, there are some indications that the effectiveness of these training is compromised by a number of issues. Emerging from reflective evaluations and experiences from coordinators are issues of relevance, feedback loop, inclusiveness and training goals. In the light of our understanding of different goals of training, it becomes clear that current public training at the University of Botswana focus more on the conceptual understanding along with occupational at the expense of other areas of public training. The analysis reveals some shortcomings in a number of aspects that calls for a multi-task, multi-skilled leader who can serve well as a strategic decision-maker, partner with clients; skilled designer and marketer of training programs.

The importance of physiotherapy is becoming more significant with the increasing number of countries with aging populations. Thus, the education of physiotherapists is a crucial concern in many countries. Information and communications technologies, such as motion capture systems, have been introduced to sophisticate the training methods used in physiotherapy. However, the methods employed in most training schools for physiotherapists and occupational therapists remain dependent on more conventional materials. These materials include conventional textbooks with samples of traditional gait motion photographs and video archives of patients’ walking motion. Actual on-site clinical training is also utilized in current physiotherapy education programs. The present paper addresses an application of previously developed digital human model called kinematic digital human (KDH) to physiotherapy education with a focus on improving students’ understanding of the gait motion of disabled patients. KDH models for use in physiotherapy were constructed based on Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center terminology, which is considered the preferred standard among clinicians. The developed KDH models were employed to allow the three-dimensional visualization of the gait motion of a hemiplegic patient.

One of the activities that must be carried out as a part of the Occupational Health Safety (OHS) management system is recording and reporting at health facilities. As information technology is growing rapidly, a system is needed to assist in the recording and reporting of OHS activities process on health facilities. e-SIMKAGA is a web-based information and management system that can assist health facilities (especially public health centers) to record and report OHS activities more effectively and efficiently. This activity aims to implement OHS Activities Reporting Smart System Based to optimize OHS culture’s application in realizing zero accident cases at Yogyakarta’s public health centers. These activities follow the stages of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The target group is 18 members of Upaya Kesehatan Kerja Puskesmas (UKK Puskesmas, an Occupational Health Unit’s group of Person in Charge (PIC) in the Public Health Center) in Yogyakarta. The activities started in April to October 2022, which concluded system development, socialization, training on the e-SIMKAGA usage, and user acceptance evaluation to determine the ease of use, usefulness, and behavior of the system’s continuity. This research resulted in the statement of e-SIMKAGA users that they were satisfied with the ease of use and usefulness and were willing to continue using e-SIMKAGA as a web-based Information System and Reporting Management of OHS activities at health facilities.

The US Military still uses a traditional instructional model that typically employs didactic methods, limited periods of active practical application, and the study of two-dimensional content with sparse generalized testing. This model of instruction has shown to produce less learning outcomes than instructional models that use more active learning methods (Hake, R. 1998; Freeman, S., et.al 2013). In addition, traditional instructional methods are incapable of developing the most important level of knowledge for military occupations, which is tacit knowledge. Research sponsored by DARPA has focused on developing tacit knowledge, and exploiting the state of flow in military education and training, which reportedly has shown significant increases in learning and performance.Experiential learning is a philosophy and well-established model of learning that precedes today’s typical industrial-era based instructional methods. Experiential learning requires learners to participate and learn in real task experiences that not only enables the learning of more declarative and procedural knowledge but with the use of new technologies and content, can develop tacit knowledge as well.This paper will discuss a continuing learning engineering effort, first tested with the US Navy and now being researched by the US Army Development Command (DEVCOM), Soldier Center (SC), Synthetic Training Technology Center (STTC), called competency-based experiential learning (CBEL). The purpose of CBEL is to advance traditional classroom learning by incorporating experiential learning, modern neuroscience and learning science, and learning technologies that together we hypothesize will develop increased occupational performance through the development of increased tacit knowledge. We will discuss at a high-level how CBEL incorporates technologies like synthetic environments, adaptive instructional systems, and a form of content called experience events to form a new model of classroom instruction

ABSTRACT Background: Stroke affects the patient’s cognitive ability. Cognitive ability also underlies the motor and functional recovery processes of post-stroke patients. Various Alertness Cognitive Stimulation (VACS) is a computer-based cognitive exercise that combines cognitive and motor components. This study aimed to examine the effect of VACS on the optimization of motor recovery among post-stroke patients. Subjects and Methods: This was an experimental study with pre-test and post-test control design. This study conducted at the Mandiri Center and Neurorehabilitation Clinics, in November-December 2019. A total of 40 post-stroke patients were enrolled in this study and divided into 20 patients in control and 20 patients in treatment groups. The dependent variables were cognitive and motor skills. The independent variable was VACS. Data were collected using Cognistat and Modified Motor Assessment Scale (MMAS). The data were analyzed by means of a comparative test. Results: The MMAS score of post intervention in the treatment group (Mean=3.40; SD= 1.88) was higher than the control group (Mean= 2.25; SD=1.68). The motor ability of the treatment group was significantly different from the control group (t= 2.04; p= 0.048). Conclusion: VACS can optimize the motor recovery of post-stroke patients in a neurorehabilitation program. Keywords: cognitive training, VACS, MMAS Correspondence: Hendri Kurniawan. The present article analysis and poses an important question concerning school counsellors' knowledge regarding the use of virtual career centres in the practice of counselling and guidance. The design of the paper is based on theoretical analyses on the basis that these virtual career centres are needed to ensure a better practice. Several types of ICT applications and Internet-based services have emerged since the last decades of the previous century: for example, email, chat, newsgroup, websites, SMS (text messaging), telephone, software (CD-ROM and free-standing computer programs) and video-conferencing (Watts & Offer, 2006). Thus, these new technology enables the use of such resources at a wide range, but at the same time, it also poses other challenges ahead. The documentary analysis concerning these virtual career centres developed and how these technologies are being used to inform parents about career resources and to assist students in developing their career management skills and making informed and realistic decisions about occupational, educational, training and employment choices will be investigated throughout the paper. The results of our theoretical analysis obtained from different studies (national and international) will bring into light a theoretical imagine on the one hand, how is it beneficial and if it is being used and on the other hand in guidance practice (advantages/disadvantages, school level, teachers' implication etc.) are just some of the issues being analysed throughout this paper. Furthermore, the paper will emphasises the role of the school counsellors and the role of teachers regarding the use of virtual career guidance centres in Romanian schools (opportunities, limits, threats, strengths etc.).

Abstract. Electric train driver work requires visual, auditory, tactile systems functioning high level, as well as mentality. These requirements caused the study directed to analyze the professional performance effectiveness these indicators, psychophysiological parameters including, for training and retraining in train driver (assistant train driver) profession. The research was carried out in the base of the training centers of professional qualifications of JSC «Russian Railways», 106 people were examined (age 27.2± 5.4 years) who were trained to perform all operations under work as train driver: first theoretically, then practically by special simulators use. There were evaluated: cardiovascular system state, complex visual-motor reaction time, «Landolt Ring» correction test as well as psychological methods of personal properties testing: reflection, self-regulation of behavior; the method of differentiated assessment of working capacity reduced. The dependence of working capacity of factor’s complex are determined. There are: organism’s functional state, psycho-emotional strain, adaptation mechanisms, motivational involvement, and target aspiration. Based on obtained data a set of promising methods has been determined to identify the possibility of reliable of driver operation and adjustment of his activities aimed at improving self-regulation skills as one of the main criteria for reliability of work.

The paper describes current state of education and professional development of specialists in human factors and ergonomics in Russia. University education in Russia is regulated by the fixed list of specialities and by the State learning standards. Currently, there are four university specialities that can serve as “umbrella” for education of ergonomists, namely: “System Analysis and Control”, “Biotechnical Systems and Technologies”, “Psychology”, “Design”. Two Russian leading universities offer bachelor and master programs on ergonomics. Postgraduate ergonomics education is available in the form of training courses and courses for preparation of candidate or doctoral dissertation. Any dissertation must be attributed to one of the predetermined scientific specialities. The most relevant speciality is “Occupational psychology, engineering psychology, ergonomics”. Nearly half of all candidates and doctors of sciences who have defended research work on ergonomics have degree in technology, one third – in psychology. Currently, Russian ergonomics society is elaborating procedure for certification of professional ergonomists following the CREE (Centre for Registration of European Ergonomists) model. As a first step to this target, the Standard for certification of the specialists designing human-machine systems has been developed. This standard establishes three evaluation criteria concerning of applicant’s educational level, professional experience, and professional development and self-education.

INTRODUCTION Addressing occupational injury and disease has been declared a national priority in Bangladesh. However critical gaps remain in improving work safety in small-scale peri-urban factories. We aimed to assess the feasibility of collaborating with owners and workers to design and implement interventions to improve work safety in two metal factories in Kamrangirchar, Dhaka. METHODS We implemented a participatory mixed methods before-and-after study with four phases. Phase 1 explored the dynamics of injuries, hazards, and risks using hazard assessments, surveillance, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. Triangulation of phase 1 findings informed design and implementation of intervention packages implemented in phase 2. In phases 3 and 4, we repeated hazard assessments and used qualitative methods to document changes in hazards and perspectives at 6- and 12-months post-intervention. Observations captured by field notes complemented data generated throughout the study. ETHICS The study was approved by the MSF Ethical Review Board (ERB) and by the ERB of the Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh. RESULTS Overall 136 workers in two factories (A and B) participated in the study (with a turnover of 41.5%). Surveillance captured 129 injuries during phase 1 (from 10th March 2019 in factory A and 30th April 2019 in factory B, to 31st July 2019), and all workers aged under 18 years experienced incidents. Hazard assessments documented hazard risk scores (HRS) of 54% in factory A and 36% in factory B. Qualitative data indicated workers perceived their work as risky, but explained it was prioritised over their health due to financial necessity. Phase 2 intervention packages included engineering controls, personal protective equipment, infrastructure safety and training. Factory owners and workers actively participated in design and implementation. Phase 3 showed a two-fold reduction in HRS in factory A (24%) and a 1.5-fold reduction (21%) in factory B. Phase 4 hazard assessment revealed that improvement was sustained in one factory; the final HRS was 27% in factory A, but returned to the pre-intervention score of 36% in factory B. Workers explained they observed improvements in workplace safety but noted challenges in sustainability due to owner commitment and worker turnover. Observation and qualitative data revealed complex power dynamics in the factories, as well as power imbalances and risks faced by female and young workers. CONCLUSION It was feasible to collaborate with workers and owners to implement interventions aimed at improving work safety. However, sustainability was mixed, and long-standing structural inequities that contribute to poor safety remain. Findings indicate urgent action is needed to improve safety and build an inclusive model of occupational health, including social and protection components, with particular attention for female workers and workers aged under 18. "Professional identity is the concept that describes how we perceive ourselves in our occupational context and how we communicate it to others. Professional identity is not static, but fluid. It is strongly influenced by how we see ourselves, how we perceive others and how we are viewed by society. Professional values are inherent characteristics of every profession and are part of the professional identity. Personal values are a powerful tool that influences our lives. They are the standards that each of us defines in order to live according to them and often influence our attitude and behavior. The profession of nurse/ midwives is defined by the values that each practitioner experiences every day in relation to his profession and each patient with whom he interacts. The professionalism of nursing profession requires that the nurses, midwifes to be able to provide quality health care services adapted to the society healthy needs, no matter age, social position, gender, political and sexual orientation or other differentiation criteria. In this way they will be able to increase the population’s health level. The Order of Nurses and Midwives of Romania implemented POLMED project which objective was to develop a set of fundamental professional values for nurses and midwives, for the benefit of the medical-patient staff relationship. The project aimed at developing an analysis of European public policies on the values of nursing and midwifery, conducting a survey of the current situation in Romania on the values of nursing and midwifery by involvement of 200 nationally selected nurses and midwives, as well as the training of 45 nurses and midwives in the design and evaluation of public policies. As a result, the ability of medical personnel to meet the citizen’s need to have quality health system is directly linked first and foremost to the reform of the educational system of professional training, which internalizes a values system centered on professionalism, empathy towards the patient and cooperation with patients and other categories of professionals in the medical system. The paper work is divide in two parts, the first part presents a survey in order to develop a set of fundamental professional values for nurses and midwives, and the second part presents the way these values were transposed in the nursing education. The paper presents a study on the ways of transposing the professional identity and profession values into the nursing education."
