Learning outcomes The learning outcomes are as follows: factors to be considered in devising the best post-acquisition brand identity and outline market research techniques, which can be used to identify the best-suited post-acquisition brand identity strategy. Case overview/synopsis The case study discusses the brand strategy, which Walmart Inc needs to adopt post its acquisition of Flipkart Pvt. Ltd (Flipkart) Group in India. Flipkart had acquired Myntra Designs Pvt. Ltd (Myntra) and Novarris Fashion Trading Private Limited (Jabong), but had kept their brand identity intact; Walmart Inc was faced with the decision on moving ahead with the brand strategy of keeping individual brand identities or merging all of these into a single brand identity. The study aims to provide valuable insights into the decision-making process adopted by Walmart Inc. It includes also the role of cause-related marketing in the positioning of Myntra as a socially responsible brand. The case study opted for an exploratory research design study using the qualitative research method of in-depth interviews. In total, 10 experts in the area of marketing, market research and marketing communication were interviewed. The qualitative data were analyzed using a template approach, which analyzes the text using a codebook or an analysis guide. The analysis guide already has clearly defined themes or categories. As the qualitative interviews progress, these themes get revised. These themes are analyzed qualitatively rather than statistically. The case study suggests to the management of Walmart Inc that they need to merge Myntra and Jabong based on the degree of similarity of consumer demographics, income/social class of buyers, brand identity and buying behavior. Myntra needs to retain as opposed to Jabong, as Myntra is perceived to be a socially responsible brand that creates a purchase disposition in the minds of the consumers. A more extensive quantitative study would offer better generalizability. It was not feasible to conduct a quantitative study due to time constraints. This research would have used advanced brand imagery assessment techniques such as multi-dimensional scaling to suggest if an overlap exists between consumer segments of Myntra and Jabong. The case study provides a decision-making framework to firms and individuals who are part of organizational teams to create a post-acquisition brand strategy in the e-commerce market. The case study fulfills a need for many academicians and practitioners to understand the decision-making process followed in devising a post-acquisition brand strategy in India. Myntra is planning to be one of them by opening its physical stores across India to boost its private labels. The case attempts to examine those factors which prompted Myntra to sail against the tide. In spite of touching such heights in the online world in a short time span of just a decade is Myntra not convinced about the customer satisfaction and thus, reverting back to traditional retail.

Today, e-commerce is a thriving industry. We do not need to approach every customer to accept their orders here. A business creates a website to offer things to clients, who can then purchase the stuff they need within the same website. These e-commerce firms include well-known ones like Amazon, Shopify, Myntra, Flipkart, and Ajio. To create a product recommendation system for the end customers, we will be using the data set of e-commerce product reviews in this final project. A sentiment analysis model will be used to enhance the suggestions. Under this final project, we will develop a sentiment analysis engine utilising a variety of machine learning approaches before selecting the model that produces the best results.

This study aims to investigate consumer behaviour towards online shopping, which further examines various factors This research aims to find the users “Attitude towards MYNTRA online shopping towards digital marketing to analyse the perception and awareness of the consumers towards online shopping. The sample required for the study has been collected through structured questionnaire. The sample size for the study taken is 60. So as per technology development all the consumers are moving towards online shopping through the digital marketing. The findings of the study showed that online marketing is a viable marketing communication channel which has significant effect on the regularity of visits and consumer patronage of online stores. Based on the findings, it was recommended that companies should ascribe to market their goods and services via online shopping stores and/or develop and launch indigenous websites where customers can make purchases. For further testing of the impact of shopping websites on behaviour of electronic devices buyers, further studies should replicate the theory and methodology used in this study, with other products and websites.

The kings of Norway issued coins on a regular basis starting in the mid-11th century, and probably conducted renovatio monetae whenever a new king came to power. As a privilege of bona regalia, the king could use coin production to serve his own interests. Economic factors are usually the main focus of discussions on coinage, but there were also political, religious and cultural dimensions that must have been important both for the production of coins and in the choice of motives, form and style. From the outset, manipulation of the coinage is visible in the debasement of silver content, followed by a reduction in weight to re-establish the silver level.  In the 12th century, the weights continued to drop and single-faced coins and bracteates became the standard; only a few biface coins are known. These small coins and bracteates from the 12th century carry little or no information concerning issuer, date or place of production. This lack of information has resulted in a gap in our knowledge about the role of these coins in medieval society in Norway. This role was dependent both on the intentions of the producer and on how the coins were perceived by the people, and their will to use them in certain ways. What were the reasons behind issuing the smallest coins ever produced in coin history, and what impact did this dramatic reduction in weight have on the understanding and use of the coin? To advance the discussion it has been vital to establish new knowledge about chronology, coin-issuing authority and mints. These areas have been addressed through two analyses using numismatic and archaeological methods. The results of the initial analyses are combined with an investigation of the size of the coin production and a study of archaeological contexts, in order to reveal how, where and when the bracteates were used.  The theoretical approach to understanding the role of coins is inspired by theories in anthropology and sociology about the many ways in which money can be incorporated in a society, emphasising the complex social component of coins in contrast to the traditional economic emphasis on their neutral qualities as a means of exchange. Central to this are the concepts behind formalism and substantivist and post-substantivist theory. The study concludes with a discussion that explores what can be said about economy and economic systems based on the 12th-century Norwegian coins.

Dagvatten härstammar från nederbörd och ibland en del grundvatten, när regn faller på hårda ytor ökar sannolikheten för ytavrinning med högt flöde och med det vattnet kan föroreningar följa med som hamnar i recipienten eftersom generellt så renas inte dagvatten när det rinner i ledningar, vattendrag eller diken vidare till recipient. När regn faller på ytor med vegetation så blir det lägre flöde, då en del vatten stannar på växter eller blir upptagna av rötter samt infiltreras av jorden. Vattnet filtreras därför naturligt och risken för föroreningar är lägre, men många naturligt förekommande ämnen hamnar ändå i recipienten. När städer expanderar så ökar de hårda ytorna i form av till exempel vägar och byggnader. Uppsala är en av dessa städer som expanderar, därför är det viktigt med bra dagvattenhantering för att försöka minska mängden utsläppta ämnen som försämrar vattenkvaliteten i Fyrisån. Studien genomfördes genom att kartlägga dagvattenutlopp med Fyrisån som recipient, samt provtagningar av vattnet från utloppen och ytvatten från Fyrisån. De parametrar som testats är konduktivitet, turbiditet och nitrathalt. Proven har sedan jämförts med data hämtad från Sveriges lantbruksuniversitets (SLU) teststationer Klastorp och Flottsund. Detta kandidatarbete undersöker dagvatten och dess påverkan på vattenkvalitet i Fyrisån. Den del av Fyrisån som analyserats är 8,5 km lång och sträcker sig från Klastorp i norra Uppsala, till Sävjaån i södra som ligger ungefär 4 km norr om Ekoln där Fyrisån mynnar. Varje dagvattenutlopp fick varsin koordinat med hjälp av en GPS och senare en benämning i undersökningen
Stormwater originates from precipitation and possibly some amounts of groundwater. When rain falls on areas with a hard surface it can contribute to surface runoff and with that the possibility for contaminations to enter the recipient, since most stormwater is directed to the recipient with pipes, trenches and water streams directly that generally have no sort of cleaning treatment. On the other hand, when precipitation falls on areas with vegetation the water is intercepted by the plants and the roots taking up water as well. This gives less runoff and the water that reaches the recipient has been filtered through the soil, but substances can still reach the recipient.  When cities expand and more hard surfaces increase such as roads and buildings, and areas of vegetation generally decrease. Uppsala is one those cities that are under heavy expansion, which makes it very important to have a good management plan of stormwater to try and decrease the amount of substances that makes water quality worse in Fyrisån. Three parameters were used to determine the water quality in this thesis, conductivity, turbidity and nitrate content. Testing was performed on both the water from the outlets, as well as the surface water of Fyrisån. Results from the testing were compared to data collected from Sveriges lantbruksuniversitets (SLU) test sites Klastorp and Flottsund. This bachelor’s thesis examines stormwater and its impact on water quality of Fyrisån in Uppsala, Sweden. The examined area follows Fyrisån, is 8,5 km long and stretches from the northern part of Uppsala, Klastorp to the south where a stream called Sävjaån connects, which is situated about 4km before Fyrisån mouths in the lake Ekoln. The area was mapped using a GPS, giving each location with a stormwater outage a specific coordinate and afterwards a name used in the report.

Bakgrund: Under hösten 2015 drabbades Europa av den största flyktingkrisen i modern tid. Av de totalt 163 000 flyktingar som passerade den svenska gränsen var många ensamkommande barn som fördelades ut i kommunerna av Migrationsverket. Kommunerna kan i sin tur delvis hantera detta mottagande genom ramavtalsupphandling av asylplatser, men behovet har tidigare år varit litet. Flyktingkrisen ökade således dramatiskt efterfrågan på platser, vilket försatte kommunerna i en pressad situation och ställde krav på resiliens. Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva och förstå hur offentlig upphandling fungerar i en krissituation, genom att undersöka kommunernas upphandling av HVB-hem och konsulentstödda familjehem/jourhem under hösten 2015 samt se hur dessa hanterat sitt mottagande av ensamkommande flyktingbarn. Metod: Syftet uppnås genom en kvalitativ flerfallstudie fokuserad på ett fåtal undersökta kommuner. Det empiriska materialet har samlats in genom nio semistrukturerade intervjuer samt sekundärdata i form av en dokumentstudie. Slutsats: Offentlig upphandling är idag reglerat av en mycket strikt och tidskrävande lagstiftning som i detalj styr upphandlingsförfarandet för berörda myndigheter. Endast mindre upphandlingar tar minst ett halvår att genomföra, oavsett hur stort behovet på den aktuella varan är. Eftersom krissituationer karaktäriseras av tidsbrist och överraskning fungerar dessa således dåligt tillsammans, vilket var tydligt under flyktingkrisen. De ökade flyktingströmmarna skapade då ett stort platsbehov som snabbt behövde hanteras, men nya ramavtal skulle ändå inte finnas att tillgå förrän långt in på 2016. I krissituationer får därför upphandling ske genom direktupphandling, vilket dock kunnat innebära en betydligt högre prisnivå. Hur kommunerna sedan hanterat sitt flyktingmottagande har till stor del berott på vilka förutsättningar som funnits. De som kunnat bygga ut egna HVB-hem och överbelägga dessa och/eller haft det lättare att värva egna familjehem kunde rent ekonomiskt anta ett mer resilient bemötande av krisen än de kommuner som tvingats direktupphandla. Ur ett sammantaget perspektiv är bedömningen svårare då alla alternativ haft olika för- och nackdelar som måste vägas mot varandra.
Background: During the fall of 2015 Europe suffered from the most severe refugee crisis in modern time. Out of the 163 000 refugees that crossed the Swedish border about 35 000 were classified as unaccompanied minors, whom were later allocated to the municipals by Migrationsverket. The municipals in turn solve this reception partly by framework agreements of asylum accommodations. The refugee crisis dramatically increased the demand for accommodation, which put the municipals under pressure and raised the need for resilience from them. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe and to understand how public procurement functions in a crisis situation by investigating Swedish municipals procurement of homes for care and resident (HVB) and consultant supported foster homes during the fall of 2015 and to see how they have managed their reception of unaccompanied minors. Methodology: The aim is achieved by using a qualitative multiple case study focused on a small number of investigated municipals. The empirical material has been sampled from nine semi-structured interviews as well as secondary data in the form of relevant documents. Conclusion: Public procurement is regulated by a legislation which is considered very time-consuming as well as administratively demanding. Even minor procurements take at least six months to execute independently of how high the demand of the required good or service is. Since crises are characterized by surprise and time shortage, these work poorly together, something which became exceedingly apparent during the refugee crisis. The high number of unaccompanied minors rapidly increased the demand for accommodations, but new framework agreements could not be obtained until they had been in procurement for at least a year. In crisis situations, the use of accelerated procedure is therefore necessary. How the municipals solved their reception depended largely on their different prerequisites. Those who could find other ways to create new places besides using accelerated procedure could also out of an economic perspective withtake a more resilient refutation of the crisis. However, from a more multidisciplinary approach it is difficult to determine which alternatives that were the most resilient options for the municipals since all of them had advantages and disadvantages.

Logistic Culmination – One or Two Sides of the Coin? An Observation From a Different Point of View   Logistic culmination can be compared to a stretched rubber band. If combat units moves in direction away from the supplies the rubber band will gradually stretch. The rubber band will eventually burst and at that point the logistic culmination will be a fact. But if the rubber band was to be let go before bursting, it will instead be contracted. At the maximum contraction point the rubber band will for a split second be wider. Could this metaphor show that there exists an opposite way of reaching logistic culmination?   This essay borrows an old culmination concept from astronomy and utilizes it within logistic culmination. Astronomic culmination has two underlying perspectives, the upper and lower culmination point, in contrast to logistic culmination which only has one perspective. These two points are connected by being each other’s opposites.   By setting the current meaning of logistic culmination as the upper culmination point the author aims at finding out the lower culmination point and examines the connection between these two points.   The examination is built on a statement that there exist two underlying perspectives within logistics, just as in astronomy with the upper and lower culmination point. If the examination of the concept will succeed a wider understanding of how logistic culmination occurs could be achieved. If the lower logistic culmination point can be verified it could mean that logistic culmination within military science can change, which also could affect military planning.   The statement taken has with logic assumptions showed that there are two underlying perspectives in logistics just like astronomy. Logistic culmination as it is explained today has given only half of the meaning compared to how this concept ought to be viewed according to this essay. This essay gives the concept logistic culmination more precision compared to the former meaning.

This paper deals with monetary development on Gotland during 11th century. The expectation is that by examining five different silver-hoards from various parts of the century it will be able to determine if there are any signs of monetary developments. By examining the silver-hoards weight and comparing the weight difference between the Coined silver, the fragmented coins and other silver objects, this paper determine which of these dominate the silver-hoards in 11thcentury. Apart from the weight comparison an accurate study of the degree of fragmentation on coins in the silver-hoards will give a detailed account on how the people of Gotland treated their coins, if they cut the coins into smaller pieces or if they handled them whole. Apart from the study of the silver-hoards there is a chapter on earlier research where the reader will acquire the knowledge to comprehend the other parts of the paper. Which include a theory chapter where the author discusses what factors need be in place for monetary development to commence and what monetary development imply. After the theory chapter the survey is presented and then discussed in the chapter after that.

Анотація:

Syfte: Vi upplever att människor i vår omgivning har en negativ bild av fastighetsmäklare. Undersökningar som Expressen har gjort bekräftar även detta. Vårt syfte med den här studien är därför att:

• Ge vår bild av fastighetsmäklare.

• Skriva en debattartikel och få denna publicerad.

Genom att uppfylla ovanstående syfte vill vi besvara frågorna:

• Varför har fastighetsmäklare ett dåligt rykte?

• Vad kan göras för att förbättra ryktet?

Metod: Vi har utifrån ett hermeneutiskt synsätt skapat denna uppsats och därför låtit vår förförståelse och subjektivitet spegla innehållet. Data har samlats in genom att söka i litteratur, intervjuer och en mindre egen undersökning. Uppsatsen är uppdelad i olika kapitel, men följer medvetet inte den traditionella dispositionen för uppsatser.

Resultat & slutsats: Vi har funnit fyra parter som har stor inverkan på fastighetsmäklarens rykte; allmänheten, media, fastighetsmäklarna och organisationerna; Mäklarsamfundet, Fastighetsmäklarförbundet och Fastighetsmäklarnämnden. Alla dessa parter kan påverka individens uppfattning om verkligheten. Vi vill med vår uppsats uppmana alla till att tänka efter två gånger då de nås av information, eftersom alla händelser har flera sidor.

Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Vi har inte behandlat fastighetsmäklarföretagen och hur de arbetar med ryktet, men vid fortsatt forskning kan det vara intressant att även ta med den aspekten. Det vore även intressant att undersöka om ryktet förbättras något i och med det nya lagförslaget och parternas arbete kring ryktet.

Uppsatsens bidrag: Vi har gett ett bidrag till debatten och där givit vår bild av fastighetsmäklare till allmänheten. Vi har även poängterat och uppmärksammat läsaren på att vara källkritisk och tänka två gånger.


Aim: We find that people in our surroundings have a negative opinion about Real Estate Agents. Surveys made by the evening paper Expressen confirm this. The aim with this study is therefore to:

• Give our opinion of Real Estate Agents.

• Write an article and get it published.

By accomplish our aim we intend to answer these questions:

• Why do Real Estate Agents have a bad reputation?

• What can be done to increase the reputation?

Method: We have written this essay from a hermeneutic point of view and have therefore been subjective throughout the entire essay. Data has been collected in literature, interviews and one own survey. This essay is divided into different chapters, but it doesn’t follow the traditional outline for essays.

Result & Conclusions: We have found four parties that have big influence on the reputation of Real Estate Agents; the public, media, Real Estate Agents and the organizations; Mäklarsamfundet, Fastighetsmäklarförbundet and Fastighetsmäklarnämnden. These four parties all have a great impact on the apprehension of individuals and their view of reality. With our essay we would like to encourage individuals to think twice.

Suggestions for future research: We haven’t put any focus on the Real Estate companies and how they can affect the reputation. It could also be of interest to investigate how the new law affects the reputation and apprehension.

Contribution of the thesis: We have given a contribution to the debate by giving our opinion about Real Estate Agents to the public. We have also emphasized the reader about being critical against information. Thinking twice is important and can therefore not be said enough.

The purpose of this paper is to through a conceptual definition, outline the meaning of integrated reporting. The empirical study aims to identify the development of integrated reporting in terms of driving forces and participants. We also intend to identify and explain the effects of integrated reporting and to describe, analyze and create an understanding of what is required of companies and the challenges an application of integrated can bring. To achieve the purpose of this paper, we have formulated a central question; What is integrated reporting and what will this development mean for companies?  To answer the central question of this paper we have chosen to apply a qualitative approach with case studies as a research strategy. We have in the case study focused on four separate companies. The theoretical framework of this paper describes the stakeholder theory and legitimacy theory, which describes the relationship between the company and its stakeholders. The empirical study consists of two separate chapters; the perspective of experts and the corporate perspective of integrated reporting. In these chapters, we discuss and analyze the theoretical framework along with both of the empirical chapters. In the analysis we highlight and discuss the concept of integrated reporting, the driving forces of its development, problems and complications regarding the implementation of integrated reporting and the positive effects it can bring. The paper concludes that an integrated report should represent the company’s primary report, which includes all aspects of a company’s business. The company’s financial and non-financial factors are related to each other and therefore the company demonstrates its business in a comprehensible and transparent manner. The development of integrated reporting is driven by stakeholders as it is primarily the company’s stakeholders who require a transparent accounting that include the information about how the company works with sustainability. The main requirement for success with integrated reporting is considered a change in mindset, which has to start in top management.
Syftet med uppsatsen är att genom en begreppsbestämning redogöra för innebörden av begreppet integrerad rapportering. Uppsatsens empiriska undersökning syftar att redogöra för utvecklingen av integrerad rapportering genom att identifiera utvecklingens bidragande drivkrafter och aktörer. Vi syftar även att identifiera och förklara vilka konsekvenser integrerad rapportering får för företag samt beskriva, analysera och skapa förståelse för vad som krävs av företag och vilka utmaningar en tillämpning av integrerad rapportering kan innebära. För att uppnå uppsatsens syfte har vi formulerat huvudfrågan: Vad är integrerad rapportering och vad kan denna utveckling komma att innebära för företag?  För att besvara huvudfrågan har vi valt att tillämpa en kvalitativ metod med flerfallsstudier som forskningsstrategi där vi fokuserat på fyra fallföretag. Den teoretiska referensramen redogör för intressentteorin och legitimitetsteorin, vilka beskriver relationen mellan företag och dess intressenter. Den empiriska referensramen består av två empiriska kapitel; normgivarnas perspektiv samt företagens perspektiv av integrerad rapportering. Analyskapitlet sammanför den teoretiska referensramen tillsammans med de två empiriska kapitlen. De områden som diskuteras i analysen är innebörden av begreppet integrerad rapportering, de drivande faktorerna till dess utveckling, problematiken kring införandet av integrerad rapportering samt vilka positiva effekter integrerad rapportering kan medföra.  I uppsatsens slutsats konstateras att en integrerad rapport bör utgöra företagets primära rapport där de finansiella och icke finansiella faktorerna sätts i relation till varandra. Företaget demonstrerar därmed verksamhetens helhet på ett tydligt och transparent sätt. Utvecklingen av integrerad rapportering är intressentstyrd då det främst är företagets primära intressenter som efterfrågar en transparent redovisning som inkluderar företagets hållbarhetsfrågor.  Det huvudsakliga kravet för lyckas med en integrerad rapportering anses vara ett förändrat synsätt, vilket först och främst krävs i högsta ledningen.

The Treasury's report "Institutional Investment in the United Kingdom: A Review" (the Myners Review) suggested in 2001 that various sectors of the UK equity market may be suitable for active investment management, tacitly assuming that some sectors are efficient whilst others are not. The validity of this assumption is tested against 29 industrial sector indices within the FTSE All Share index. Sector efficiency is, taken to be that index values reflect information correctly (strong efficient) or to the point where benefits do not exceed costs (weakly efficient). Existence of a sector index following a random walk is used to identify strong efficiency with the subsequent conclusion that passive management would be appropriate. Where the time series is not random, forecasting gains less than the management costs of active trading indicate weak efficiency with the corollary that passive management is still applicable. Industrial sectors where the index can be forecast with gains in excess of costs are not efficient and are appropriate for active management. The indices are tested for stationarity: none are stationary in levels but all reject the Dickey Fuller null hypothesis of a unit root in their first difference, the logarithmic return. Tests for randomness are based on pure random walks and random walks with drift and/or trend. Non-random time series are examined for maintained regressions based on AR, MA and ARMA. Where appropriate, ARCH is applied to the variance, utilising GARCH, Threshold GARCH, GARCH-in mean, Exponential GARCH and Component GARCH. Additionally there is a test for cointegration. All potential data generating processes' residuals are tested for independent identical distributions using the BDS test. If the maintained regression produces residuals that are III) then that series is assumed to be explained. The results show that four indices are strong efficient and five are weak; giving nine sectors that should be managed passively. Only one sector is found where there is scope for active management to make an abnormal gain in excess of costs. Nineteen of the indices had GARCH, which indicated a possible lack of efficiency but no decision on management style. One index was unexplained. Thus the Myners review's suggestion of active management where appropriate was valid, but limited solely to the Personal Care & Household Products sector.

Анотація:

Romanen Oblomov (1859) av Ivan Gontjarov handlar om den lättjefulle adelsmannen Oblomovs liv. Boken har varit föremål för utbredd forskning tidigare men någon undersökning som lagt fokus på Oblomovs betjänt Sachar mot bakgrund av den slöa livsstil som boken skildrar har inte gått att finna. Syftet med denna uppsats är därför att genom noggrann läsning av framförallt de episoder där Sachar är närvarande lära känna hans karaktär och funktion i boken och på så vis fylla ett litet tomrum i forskningen om Oblomov.

Bortsett från deras olika befattningar är Sachar i stora drag mycket lik sin herre Oblomov och hans bifigur fungerar som någon som belyser huvudkaraktärens egenskaper. Samtidigt förstärker Sachars gestalt både närvaron av slöhet i boken och budskapet om en lättjefull livsstil som något negativt.


Oblomov (1859) by Ivan Goncharov deals with the life of the lazy nobleman Oblomov. The novel has been the object of extensive research before, but no study has been found with Zakhar, Oblomov’s servant, as its focus. Therefore, this essay puts Zakhar, including the indolent lifestyle portrayed in the book, in the centre of attention. By close reading of the text the aim has been to investigate his character and function for the narrative, thus reducing a small gap in the research of Oblomov.

Although different in position, Zakhar is much alike the lethargic Oblomov with his purpose in the novel being to highlight his master’s features. Also, Zakhar’s presence reinforces the occurrence of idleness in the novel as well as the message of a slothful lifestyle as being something negative.

India's retail market value was estimated at $520 billion in 2013, and is expected to grow to $950 billion by 2018. With a CAGR currently pegged at 13%, the Indian e-commerce market is expected to grow the fastest within the Asia-Pacific Region – with its market size doubling every 2-2.5 years. This certainly gives us reason for deep introspection. While the global growth rate of online shoppers is estimated at 8-10%, India currently has more than 10 million online shoppers. With the evolution of the online marketplace, sites like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Jabong and Myntra are thriving which has risen the practice of buying goods online. The media has definitely played vital role in shaping the online retail business.

Sverige har sedan 2009 tillämpat en ålförvaltningsplan där en av förvaltningsåtgärderna är stödutsättningar av glasålar i svenska vatten. Dessa ålar importeras från länder där det anses finnas ett överskott av ankommande glasål. Sedan ålförvaltningens början har alla utsatta ålar märkts med strontium och vi kan därför idag skilja på naturligt rekryterade ålar och stödutsatta ålar genom en strontiumanalys av deras otoliter. På väst- och sydkusten finns det två provfiskeprogram där ål har samlats in och strontiumanalyserats. Dessa program inbegriper fiske med ryssja vid en lokal utanför Stenungsund och med elfiske vid 24 olika lokaler vid grunda kustområden eller i mindre vattendrag (fallfälla och nettingfälla i ett fåtal fall). Av de totalt 1118 ålar som analyserats var 9 % av utsatt härkomst och de påvisades endast vid fyra lokaler. Dessa ligger alla i närheten av Orust och Tjörn där det har pågått utsättningar sedan 2010. Ålar som sattes ut de första åren efter att utsättningarna påbörjades i detta område har fångats kontinuerligt i provfisket sedan dess vilket kan vara ett tecken på att utsatta ålar stannar kvar i området de sätts ut i. Senare utsättningar har däremot inte påträffats i samma utsträckning. Det finns tidigare studier som visar att en hög densitet av ål i ett område kan leda till högre mortalitet. Det finns däremot inget som tyder på någon skillnad i kondition eller tillväxt mellan naturligt rekryterade och utsatta ålar bland de som analyserats i denna studie. Det finns därför inte några tecken idag på varför ål som satts ut senare inte fångas i provfisket eller varför andelen utsatt ål är låg jämfört med naturliga rekryter trots stora utsättningar i detta område. På majoriteten av de fiskade lokalerna har inga märkta ålar påträffats trots att hundratusentals ålar har satts ut i vattendrag som mynnar ut på den svenska väst- och sydkusten. En anledning kan vara att många av dessa utsättningar har skett i sjöar en bit inåt land och att dessa ålar inte har haft någon anledning att byta uppväxtmiljö och ännu inte har blivit gamla nog att söka sig ut mot havet för att leka.
