In order to improve the effect of ethnic music teaching and improve the recommendation accuracy of teaching resources, this paper proposes a personalized recommendation method for ethnic music teaching resources based on video tags. A national music teaching resource library is constructed as the resource source, and the K-nearest neighbor (KNN) algorithm is used to classify the teaching resources in the resource library. According to the results of resource classification, describe the characteristics of teaching resources, so as to recommend suitable teaching resources to corresponding students to meet individual needs. According to the main characteristics of tags, a tagging system is established, and at the same time, the decay of user interest over time is considered, and weights are assigned to user video interest tags in descending order of time, and the total user interest tag vector is calculated. In this paper, the obtained user total interest label vector is normalized. The vector space model is used to represent teaching resources and user interests, so as to realize personalized recommendation of teaching resources. The experimental results show that the accuracy rate of the proposed method is higher than 90%, the recall rate is more than 97%, and the F1 value is larger, and the convergence is better, reflecting the better recommendation effect of the method.

Music collections available to listeners have grown at a dramatic pace, now spanning tens of millions of tracks. Interacting with a music retrieval system can thus be overwhelming, with users offered ‘too-much-choice’. The level of engagement required for such retrieval interactions can be inappropriate, such as in mobile or multitasking contexts. Music recommender systems are widely employed to address this issue, however tend toward the opposite extreme of disempowering users and suffer from issues of subjectivity and confounds, such as the equalisation of tracks. This challenge and the styles of retrieval interaction involved are characterised in terms of user engagement in music retrieval, and the relationships between existing conceptualisations of user engagement is explored. Using listening histories and work from music psychology, a set of engagement-stratified profiles of listening behaviour are developed. A dataset comprising the playlists of thousands of users is used to contribute a user-centric approach to feature selection. The challenge of designing music retrieval for different levels of user engagement is first explored with a proof of concept, low engagement music retrieval system enabling users to casually retrieve music by tapping its rhythm as a query. The design methodology is then generalised with an engagement-dependent system, allowing users to denote their level of engagement and thus the specificity of their music queries. The engagement-dependent retrieval interaction is then explored as a component in a commercial music system. This thesis contributes the engagement-stratified profiles and metrics of listening behaviour, a corresponding design methodology for interaction, and presents a set of research and commercial applications for music retrieval.

Throughout history, man has been recording, presenting, and preserving information through various media like palm leaves stores, tablets, leather, clay, etc. The invention of paper and the printing press brought a revolution in this direction. Subsequently, micro documents and audio-video cassettes also arrived on the scene. The 20th century witnessed a revolution in the form of computer for storing and retrieving information. CD-ROM brought a revolution in information storage and retrieval. DVD, with much higher storage capacity, further revolutionized the information delivery mechanism. World Wide Web converted the whole world into an information city. The information going electronic, knowledge storage and retrieval has become dynamic with the help of powerful retrieval engines irrespective of the storage media used, be it CD or Internet. Slowly, the static and paper-based libraries are being replaced by dynamic electronic/digital/virtual mechanisms for producing, organizing, locating, repackaging, and accessing the information. Many libraries have gained experience in developing and building digital resources and their management. Electronic book is a text, analogous to a book that is in digital form to be displayed on a computer screen. E-books are online or in CD-ROMs, which store vast amounts of data in text form, as well as digital images, animation, music, and other sounds to supplement this text.

For many projects, resources are always limited. Hence, there is often a need to allocate resources in a most cost-effective manner. There are some cost models developed as guidelines on how to estimate the costs of digitalization and preservation of information in a comparatively more accurate way. By knowing the factors which affecting those costs, it will be easier to find a cost-effective strategy for digital preservation. Among different migration strategies proposed by researchers, in this article the migration in the framework of Open Archival Information System (OAIS) will be studied. This is applied to the case of this small-scale music library, Melos Music Library in El Parnaso Centre in Uruguay.

Chapter one discusses the appalling socio-economic circumstances of poverty and squalor that Reid was born into in 1930s Glasgow and how this impacted on his attitude to towards capitalist society. As part of this we look at the problems faced by his father in providing for his family and his mother’s ability in a hand-to-mouth culture to use the meagre resources in such a way as to ensure food and clothing for her children. We stress the fact that music and literature were embedded in the family. Reid himself became the personification of the auto-didact. We emphasise that it was the library rather than the classroom which moulded and shaped him culturally and politically. After engaging with a number of youth organisations Reid joined the YCL at the age of 15; the year he began his working life in a stockbroker’s office before leaving to become an apprentice engineer.

In today’s modern world, elementary school students (aged 5 to 12 years) use computers for a wide variety of tasks. These include communication (e-mail, instant messaging, and chatrooms), entertainment (games, video, music, etc.), leisure (such as information relating to hobbies and general interests), and information retrieval to support class-based learning. Internet access is now very widely available from home, school, and public library. A major reason for accessing the Internet is to find Web-based information relevant to classroom learning activities. Undoubtedly the Web represents an enormous and potentially rich source of multimedia information on topics within the elementary school curriculum, but accessing this information does pose a number of challenges. We identify in this article three major problem areas that currently impede effective exploitation by elementary school students of Webbased information resources: information systems are not necessarily intuitive or straightforward for children to use; basic information literacy skills too often are inadequate; and too little content appropriate for young users is available on the Web. The first technology to gain popularity as a means for children to retrieve information was the CD-ROM. By the early 1990s, a wide variety of multimedia information resources targeted specifically at children were available in this medium. Many were children’s encyclopedias, designed to facilitate rapid retrieval of discrete information “chunks,” and often multimedia versions of an original print title. These CD-ROMs could offer an engaging, interactive experience for the young student. Although students were willing to explore and experiment with interfaces (Large, Beheshti, Breuleux, & Renaud, 1994; Large, Beheshti, & Breuleux, 1998), they were not necessarily effective at retrieving information from these CD-ROM titles (Marchionini, 1989; Oliver, 1996). In any event, regardless of its strengths and weaknesses as a classroom resource, CD-ROM technology proved transient and was quickly superseded by the expansion of the Internet and the rise of the Web. Yet the information retrieval problems revealed by CD-ROMs would continue to plague the Web.
