The paper deals with the theoretical and empirical investigation of socio-economic aspects of accessibility to museums and galleries by removing various barriers. While there are certain costs associated with barrier removal, making museum and galleries accessible also leads to an increase in visitor numbers, resulting in higher incomes. Thus, accessibility in turn, impacts both economy and society. The aim is to examine and identify the socio-economic aspects associated with making museums and galleries accessible to all and to compare the approach to this process in Slovakia and abroad. The study analyses primary data collected through a combination of questionnaire survey and interviews. The research sample consists of Slovak museums and galleries (n=52) and associations from 6 European countries. Results reveal that the main problem lies in the elimination of architectural barriers, which is caused by the historical nature of buildings and the financial difficulty associated with technical modifications. The lack of financial resources is as well considered to be a fundamental hindrance to the process of removing barriers. However, making culture accessible to people with disabilities is not driven by internal motivation, but rather by an obligation arising from the law. The findings also underscore that representatives from museums, galleries, and associations acknowledge that while the immediate economic benefits may not be readily apparent, the long-term impact on the institution's attractiveness and visitor experience and happiness is profound. Moreover, implemented modifications are beneficial to a significantly broader audience, which expands the potential target group and may contribute to employment.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the current state of museums in Spain through the prism of the dynamic development of innovative technologies in society. The article reveals the tourist preference for Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), which is a single digital travel platform that integrates all the necessary information. An important contribution to sustainable urban mobility is public transport, shared bike, shared e-moped, and shared car. These components, coupled with digital services offering route information to museums, information about museums, booking and purchasing tickets to museum complexes, form the basis and are the main MaaS bundle attributes. Methodology is based on scientific and special research methods. The methods used were analysis, synthesis, systematization, classification, generalization of economic and methodological sources. The authors examined the key properties of the processes of formation and development of museums as one of the most representative manifestations of the cultural heritage of society. The article addresses important issues of the tourism sector through the prism of the European museum sector, analyzing: historical aspects of the development of European social institutions of museum affairs, statistical indicators of the number of museums in European countries, emphasizing their key role in the dynamic development of tourism. To thoroughly analyze the development of European museums, the author examines one of the exemplary examples of creating a successful museum sector in Spain. It is proved that the effectiveness of the museum sector development largely depends on its integration into the socio-economic life of the country, accessibility for all social groups of visitors, sustainable development, available additional services, and a modern website with information about the museum.

Museums have been integrated into tourism activities as cultural carriers and have become increasingly prominent in developing the regional cultural tourism industry. How to promote the high-quality development of the museum industry across China is an important topic that needs to be considered at present. Therefore, we used 56 museums in Linyi as the research object, analyzed the spatial distribution characteristics of museums in Linyi and explored the main influencing factors. The results show that (1) the museums in Linyi tend to be cohesively distributed, mainly concentrated in the central to central-eastern part of Linyi, with few museums distributed in other areas, and the distribution of museums within Linyi shows an unevenness; (2) the museums show a tendency to be centrally distributed, and museums show a centralized distribution, forming the main agglomeration area of Lanshan – Hedong-Luozhuang, as well as the two secondary agglomerations of Junan and Yinan-Yishui; (3) Factors such as the degree of resource endowment, the level of economic development, the accessibility of transport, the degree of development of tourism, and the degree of population density all combine to influence the distribution of museums in Linyi; (4) On the whole, Linyi's museums tend to be distributed in areas that are rich in natural and cultural resources, with a higher level of economic development, a well-developed transport network and proximity to rivers and lakes, a better-developed tourism industry, and a higher population density. In the future, Linyi should pay attention to the following aspects in the construction and management of museums: digging deeper into the resources to expand the types and numbers of museums; responding to the market demand and promoting the quality of museums; accelerating the construction of museums by taking advantage of the tourism industry; and improving the infrastructure to help the development of museums.

Museums are generally regarded as having high potential for science communication. In Brazil, however, those institutions are still far away from accomplishing this mission, particularly regarding paleontology. Here we discuss several aspects regarding science communication and museums. The three main activities associated to museums are research, repositories of collections and exhibitions. The collections of the Brazilian museums and the exhibits tend to be poor when compared with similar European and North American institutions, causing a distance between museum and society. Among the attempts of changing this picture, the Museu Nacional/UFRJ, in collaboration with the Museu de Ciência da Terra (DNPM), has organized in 1999 the temporary exhibition THE TIME OF THE DINOSAURS, which turned out to be the most visited exposition regarding fossils organized in the country so far. Among the several benefits of this exhibit was to increase the interest of the population regarding paleontology. This experience has shown that the museum must interact more strongly with the society in order to fully develop its potential of science communication.

Abstract Provenance history sheds light on the relationship between works of art and the social, political, and economic conditions of their biographies. Engaging with the provenance of objects establishes a cultural conversation across time and space with previous owners. For artworks in museums, the public has now entered into that conversation. Museums, as custodians of art and educators of the public, can play a significant role in going beyond the question of ownership to get to the heart of what provenance reveals about the meanings of art: the ways people bring art into their lives, and the ways that objects are loved and studied. This essay delves into these human aspects of provenance, which are too often absent from museum displays, and argues in favor of making this information more visible to the public. Finally, works by contemporary artists Hans Haacke and Maria Eichhorn are discussed as examples of projects that successfully expose complicated object histories and provenance within museum installations.

A vibrant debate about the role and participation of museums in urbanisation, industrialisation, human rights protection, technological progress, climate change and other global challenges has persisted in the field of museums ever since the boom of theoretical museology, which coincided with the development of the sustainable development concept. However, often culture is considered a part of social sustainability pillar, covering manifestations such as equity, participation, social justice etc. (Murphy, 2012; Vallace et al., 2011; Cuthill, 2010) or ignoring cultural aspects altogether (Chiu, 2004). Many voices have called to promote culture as the fourth pillar of sustainable development as a necessary foundation, condition or groundwork through which understandings of social, economic, and environmental sustainability may appear (Soini & Birkeland, 2014; Hawkes, 2001). Although the potential of cultural heritage institutions such as museums towards sustainable development is outlined in relevant literature, there has been no radical shift in museum practice (Ross, 2004; Simon, 2010; Nomikou, 2015). The paper aims to propose the first-ever critical review of sustainable development priorities in Latvia’s most popular museums with a view to finding out their strategic priorities and using these findings to identify today’s specific thematic development lines relevant to the museum sector within the sustainable development framework and to apply this bottom-up principle to propose potential ways to improve the general goal of Latvia’s museum accreditation system – that of promoting sustainable museum practices – with specific pointers and thematic building blocks for the broad umbrella concept of sustainable development. Research objectives include (1) conducting a critical review of relevant literature to identify the role of cultural heritage within the evolution of the sustainable development concept (2) identifying the themes of sustainable development that have been communicated as strategic priorities to stakeholders by the country’s nine most visited museums and (3) using research findings to illuminate and pinpoint a specific array of themes pursuant to the general goal of Latvia’s museum accreditation system – that of promoting sustainable museum practices – for the system to serve as a more comprehensive and targeted tool for fostering sustainabledevelopment in the heritage sector and beyond. Qualitative content analysis has been chosen to analyse museum development strategies and their collection, research, and communication policies, that is, the museum strategic documents to be submitted by the museums seeking to receive state recognition. The study covers Latvia’s nine most popular museums, whose joint annual share of visits amounts to 50% of the country’s total rate (Latvian Academy of Culture, 2018). The study reveals substantial diversity in how Latvia’s most popular museums approach sustainable development goals while also exposing a few significant downsides. According to the findings, museum priorities include (1) heritage preservation, efforts to strengthen national identity, and information and communication technology sustainability in the context of cultural sustainability, (2) financial sustainability as well as tourism- multiplication and image-building in the context of economic sustainability, (3) eco-cultural resilience and improvements in the infrastructure for better energy efficiency as well as a degree of progress towards more sustainable transportation solutions in the context of environmental sustainability and (4) physical, intellectual, socio-economic and emotional accessibility and a focus on boosting social capital in the context of social sustainability. Adjustment of accreditation requirements to meet the sustainable development priorities, at least identified within the study, should, in the long run, raise awareness within the field, enable museums to target their efforts at addressing their downsides and finding possibilities for growth in the context of sustainable development as well as foster sustainable development in the larger field of cultural heritage sites and institutions, which, unlike its kindred sector of museums, exists outside the scope of restrictions associated with accreditation. Such adjustments will help achieve a broader input from the heritage sector towards sustainable development goals.

One of the important tasks of regional historical and ethnological research is to determine the ethnographic potential of regional and municipal museums. It matters pragmatically —for the development of the tourism industry, and in relation to the generalcultural, educational, scientific development. The purpose of the article is to review the main aspects of understanding problems related to ethnographic museums in domestic science. The problems of museums are studied in institutional and socio-cultural perspectives, including in the context of the processes of socio-cultural identification and commemoration. The main place is given to the thoughts of researchers about the “crisis of museums” and their development trends. The problems of Russian ethnographic museums are defined at the conceptual, institutional, socio-economic, socio-cultural levels.

The scientific conference “Identity and Heritage. Museums of High Schools” held in Krakow, 22–24 November 2017, was a good occasion to learn more about the institutions that look after the broadly defined academic heritage. The legal status of high school museums have been described in the article as well as the consequences thereof. The results of research on such museums existing in Poland have been presented. The study was conducted in 134 public institutions of higher education; it focused on identifying museum and academic collections, and their rank within an organisational structure of the institution. The analysis of collected data allowed to ascertain the number of high school museums operating in Poland, which is 68; they are administrated by 44 various high schools (universities as well as schools of specialisation: technical, medical, agricultural, economic, pedagogical, artistic). It has been pointed out that in the years 2009–2018 as many as 17 new collections were initiated (some of them are still being organised or changed their status after merging of institutions or collections). As far as the museums’ place within an organisational structure of the school is concerned, it has been noted that the faculty museums are the most common ones, followed by those of the general school-wide status. The most important changes that academic museums are presently facing have also been mentioned and described herein, such as transformations of organisational and legal aspects. Last but not least, the virtualisation of collections has been identified as a current issue.

The development of folk crafts in Russia was closely connected with the formation of handicrafts museums that performed complex tasks of preserving, studying and promoting folk art. The study of their history today is one of the problems that have not yet been sufficiently studied in museology. Handicrafts museums were considered by researchers primarily in the general historical context of the influence of state policy and provincial zemstvos on the development of handicraft industry in Russia. However, the phenomenon of handicrafts museums remains insufficiently studied from the point of view of history and the theory of museum work. The type of the handicrafts museum has not yet been singled out as an actual form of the museum institution of the last quarter of the XIX – the first third of the XX centuries, which spread in several provinces of the Russian Empire. The purpose of the article is to review the main activities of the Moscow Handicrafts Museum - an example of the formation of new types of museums in Russia and their influence on the development of folk crafts in the second half of the 19th century – the first third of the 20th centuries. Moscow Handicrafts Museum opened in 1885. His task was to fully promote the development of folk art and the implementation of handicrafts. One of the main features and goals of creating the Handicrafts Museums in the Russian Empire was the formation of an established system of state patronage over the peasants who were freed from serfdom and promotion of their involvement in the new sector of the economy. The museum staff formed the museum collection, actively participated in organizing the training of folk craftsmen, arranging production workshops, became intermediaries in the art market, and was engaged in active exhibition work around the world, especially at large industrial fairs. In the 1890–1910s, the case started in Moscow spread quickly to almost the whole country. Handicrafts museums immediately arose in several provinces of Russia. One of the program documents of that period was the concept of the development of the Handicrafts Museum, proposed in a report of Sergey Morozov in 1910. Thus, at the beginning of the twentieth century in Moscow, the structure of an effective museum was formed, aimed at systematic work with folk crafts and successfully involving a wide range of partners: artists and scientists, merchants and foreign industrialists. Thanks to the assistance of handicrafts museums in Russia in the late XIX – early XX centuries traditional folk crafts were able to survive and be adequately represented throughout the world. The aesthetic significance of folk art has been recognized. The study of folk art has become an important subject of scientific research. All aspects of the multifaceted history of the formation and development of handicrafts museums and their role in the socio-economic and cultural development of Russia are of great scientific interest and require careful further study.

Asian American culturally specific museums began forming in the United States in 1963. There are now 11 in existence. Four of these museums (two Chinese American, one Japanese American and one Pan Asian American) dramatically expanded their programs and constructed large new facilities. These culturally specific museums are private nonprofit organizations that are reliant on private donors for most of their financial support. Asian Americans comprise the majority of these Asian American museums’ donor bases. Understanding why donors support these museums may be useful to the museums’ abilities to raise funds. In this thesis I explore the reasons Chinese and Japanese Americans support these culturally specific museums. I used data from my qualitative study involving in-depth interviews of 16 Chinese and Japanese American current and former donors to a Pan Asian culturally specific museum in Seattle, Washington along with interviews of chief executives and other key informants of five other culturally specific museums in addition to primary documents provided by the museums and related secondary information available through the Internet. I also conducted a literature review in the fields of Development Studies, racial and ethnic identity, museology, and philanthropy. While identifying the reasons donors support these culturally specific museums, I also identify the philanthropic priorities and criteria of Chinese and Japanese Americans residing in Seattle and compare them with similar studies of Asian American philanthropy conducted in other cities in the 1990’s. I also examine the roles played by these culturally specific museums in the promotion of social capital, cultural capital and heritage capital in their communities. Chinese and Japanese Americans support these museums to preserve and educate their communities about the contributions their forebears made to the development of the United States. Asian American history has been marginalized in conventional narratives and one mission of the Asian American culturally specific museums is to bring their stories into the American history mainstream. Creating and operating these museums requires substantial networking within the Chinese and Japanese American communities and with other ethnic communities to bring in visitors and obtain financial and other support. The museums promote social capital development through collaboration in the museums’ operations. They increase the communities’ cultural capital by assembling the dispersed cultural and heritage capital of the Chinese and Japanese American communities into curated collections. These Asian American culturally specific museums face challenges stemming from attrition in their donor bases due to age. The museums need to develop activities that attract new supporters who may be mixed race or mixed ethnicity or who are interested in social activism that impacts society. The museums also must create programs that are relevant to younger generations. The findings of this study lay the groundwork for further inquiry into the ways culturally specific museums promote bonding and bridging capital in low and middle class Asian American communities and the degree to which they affect development in their neighbourhoods. Further research into the museums’ educational programs efficacy as they relate to correcting misperceptions about Asian Americans among non-Asian Americans may be desirable.

Do investments in Contemporary Art Centers spur investment and economic development in the surrounding community? And if so, what factors are associated with these developments' outcomes? To assess these questions, a general overview of the dominant arts-and-economic-policy perspectives were considered, and two cases of contemporary art center developments, one in St. Louis and one in Cincinnati, were compared and treated as hypothetical value-capture investments. Sale prices of properties surrounding each investment property were adjusted to reflect market factors, then compared to values before and after an investment property opened to the public. A review of supplemental documents and interviews with the developments' directors were used to determine factors that contributed to the effects observed in the study. Findings indicated that the adjusted value of properties in Cincinnati declined with distance from the site of development in the post-test period, and not in the pre-test period. Hedonic results for properties in St. Louis were not significant. However, the museum's development was one among other factors that signified to investors that the area was ready for restoration. Interviews and document review indicated that community participation in the development planning process, distinctive architecture, and commercial contexts were associated with developments meeting their stated goals.

Museums need to apply sustainable criteria in order to evaluate performance and improve results. The identification of museum attributes is essential to analyse the different factors that attract visitors and study its situation to improve efficiency in museums, as could be the use of funds for developing a marketing campaign in order to attract visitors. Attribute evaluation provides an understanding of the perceived quality and subjective value of the museum visitor experience. To this respect, it is essential to consider also visiter behaviour and satisfaction in order to be able to encourage innovation and sustainability in museums. The use of big data applied to tourism research is vital due to the consideration of the opinion of museum visitors. The opinion and perception of tourists is a crucial factor derived from Electronic Word-of-Mouth (eWOM). Content analysis facilitates detecting attributes perceived by tourists in order to improve their experience. These attributes detected previously are evaluated in a round-table discussion with experts and key stakeholders. The use of Industry 4.0 tools facilitates the understanding of museum performance and the analysis of crucial information. This doctoral dissertation aims to determine a methodological model that allows the analysis of the economic and socio-cultural value of museums. The methods proposed are Choice Experiments method, Willingness to Pay and Subjective Quality Indicators. It allows us to evaluate the functioning of museums. Therefore, the proposed methodological model takes a mix-method approach by considering both. The application of the proposed method makes it possible to know precisely the impact of the initiatives and proposals developed by museums. These methods can be extrapolated and used by the scientific community to do research in the performance of museums and the process of decision-making. The case of study is Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (Madrid, Spain). The results obtained are key to create co-creation strategies. The results obtained offer precious information to carry out innovation processes such as co-creation in order to improve the decision-making processes from museum management perspective. These results show that there are substantial differences between the perception and appreciation of the attributes by the local community and the tourists. The results provide valuable information that can be applied in practice to devise strategies for economic and socio-cultural sustainability aimed to improve decision-making in museum management

With the economic development and lifestyle changes, the local cultural centers have gradually become one of the tourist attractions in Taiwan. Owing to be limited by a smaller scope and lack of resources, the local cultural centers are hard to compete with the major museums and other cultural scenic spots. To face it, this study builds the experience economy model of a more interactive approach bringing the memories to the tourists provides a good reference for the local cultural centers operators. This research is to analyze the experience economy, cultural and creative industries, and the operation of local cultural centers by using theoretical analysis methodology. Through participating in the Cailiao Fossil Museum activities, interviewing librarians, and interviews and questionnaires with the tourists, this study is to get actual feedback of visitors. Moreover, it is to figure out the inadequacies of operations by comparing with the theory The main results of this thesis are as follows: 1. Operating by experience can really raise the participating willingness of visitors and provide the learning opportunities to the visitors by using the cultural and leisure facilities. 2. Experience economy can promote the upgrading of industrial patterns by attracting the stream of tourists and self-upgrade of hard ware. The local cultural centers combined with the cultural and creative industries will strengthen the operational and provide commercial cooperation, and upgrade industry patterns. 3. This study focuses on interpreting the archaeological evidence from the Huddleston House farmstead, in Wayne County, Indiana. Four generations of Huddleston families called the farmstead their home. A diachronic perspective is used to reconstruct the historic landscape and economic changes over time. This thesis uses statistical analysis of data contained within primary documents to gain historical context. Fluctuating economic conditions and the passing of the frontier greatly influenced local and regional roles within the larger global economy. This thesis explains the effects these changes had on farm families like the Huddlestons. Local economic trends are established through documentary analysis. Exploring the level of congruence between the Huddleston family and the local trend, and then using that information to interpret the archaeological evidence was the goal of this research. In addition, archaeological evidence is used to link specific households to specific deposits.
Theory and methods -- Regional culture history and literature review -- Huddleston extended family history -- Historical context : nineteenth century regional and global agricultural trend -- Historical context : reconstructing local econmic trends -- Archaeological analysis -- Secondary analysis and interpretatio.

The landscape of James A. Garfield’s Mentor, Ohio home (now preserved at James A. Garfield National Historic Site) contains multiple layers of historical meanings and values. The landscape as portrayed in political biographies, political cartoons, and other ephemera during Garfield’s 1880 presidential campaign reveals the existence of the dual cultural values of agrarian tradition and agricultural progress in the late nineteenth century. Although Garfield did not depend on farming exclusively for his livelihood, he, like many agriculturalists of this era participated in a process of mediation between these dual values. The function of the landscape of Garfield’s farm between 1876 and 1880 is a reflection of this process of mediation. After President Garfield’s assassination in 1881, his wife and children returned to their Mentor home. Between 1885 and c. 1905, Garfield’s widow Lucretia made numerous changes to the agricultural landscape, facilitating the evolution of the home from farm to country estate. Despite the rich history of this landscape, its cultural complexity and evolution over time makes it difficult to interpret for public audiences. Additionally, the landscape is currently interpreted exclusively through indoor museum exhibits and outdoor wayside panels, two formats with severe limitations. I propose the integration of deep mapping into interpretation at James A. Garfield National historic site in order to more effectively represent the multi-layered qualities of its historic landscape.

AbstractThe Italian fashion system is represented by a wide and valuable heritage that needs to be properly preserved and experienced by everybody, from fashion students to scholars, artisans and designers, etc. Although in the last decades there have been many attempts to create a museum dedicated specifically to Italian fashion, in the end, institutions or museums have not been able to carry out a valuable and accomplished project. One fundamental reason is represented by the Italian specificities in terms of the fashion-industry evolution and, more in general, by the complexity of the fashion system which has been built and continues to grow at the crossroads between different experiences, practices, and relations. As such, it has been studied from diverse disciplines and approaches ranging from art to design, from economics to sociology of culture, and so on. Moreover, when considering both the intangible and tangible fashion heritage, gathering them in order to preserve and share them becomes extremely difficult. The challenge is therefore to understand how to collect, preserve, and enjoy this heritage, combining the cultural pluralism of local traditions and their products, together with the creativity of artists and designers and the economic aspects of the industry, relating them all with the cultural and social features of everyday life-fashion. The aim of this paper is to address these issues starting from the preliminary reflections of the PNRR project (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza, National Recovery and Resilience Plan) “Cultural heritage active innovation for next-gen sustainable society”, (CHANGES aims at promoting interdisciplinary research and inter-sectorial synergies to support the development of innovative long-term strategies for the interpretation, understanding, conservation, and valorization of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The extended partnership is composed of 11 Universities, 4 Research Institutions, 3 Advanced Studies Schools, 6 Companies, and 1 Center of Excellence (see https://sites.google.com/uniroma1.it/changes/home).) in order to discuss in detail the Spoke 2, “Creativity and Intangible Heritage” thematic line on fashion preservation and its musealization as developed by the authors of this essay.

This chapter argues that the next stage in the bandeirantes chronotope, in which Brazil would become a “First World power,” was going to be spawned by the spectacles of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympics. This stage of the developmentalist plot rested on the assumption that Brazil would become an economy of mass consumption rather than production, a full participant in globalized consumer capitalism. The chapter contends that soccer superstar Pelé, and the mythology around him, was mobilized in Santos as a symbol of this new globalized, consumerist Brazil. The chapter then integrates two different aspects of the Santos Pelé Museum: its material role in the transformation of Valongo, and its symbolic role in narrating a particular story of Brazil's development. As a material object, the museum was an expensive construction project and a centerpiece of the redevelopment of Valongo. As a text, the museum told the story of a triumphant Brazil in the run-up to the World Cup, using Pelé's biography as allegory.

Disencumbered from their historical conditions and rehashed in different discursive patterns, symbols outlined in the previous chapters re-emerge today in the controversial debate on the cultural heritage of the Dolomites. This debate, critically revived after their inscription in the World Heritage List, subtly exploits these ‘neutral’ symbols when the economy of mass tourism and the internationalization of leisure appear to overshadow ethnic and national divides. Aspects of this most recent recirculation of symbols are presented through fieldwork conducted at the Messner Mountain Museums in South Tyrol. While perfectly aware of crossing multiple ethnic and political borders, Victorian travellers were, instead, mainly concerned with a picturesque version of the Dolomites that was translatable into their own language and heritage.

This article is the result of the research topic "Anti-crisis management during war and local crises", in which anti-crisis management is considered from various, sometimes even atypical, aspects. Post-war recovery of the economy through the revitalization of old industrial and destroyed military districts of Ukraine. The study of the English-speaking pressure on the calculation of management terminology in the conditions of globalization is a kind of anti-crisis linguistic research management. The subject of the research is anti-crisis management with the aim of post-war recovery of Ukraine. Methodology of the study is based on general research methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, observation and abstraction, which are used to systematise achievements in the theory and practice of anti-crisis management. The methods are general scientific and special methods of cognition, research and research literature, scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists on issues of anti-crisis management, post-war reconstruction. The research was conducted as a logical process. The theoretical stage of the research consisted in the collection, systematization and generalization of foreign experience in the revitalization of old industrial districts. The purpose of the research is anti-crisis management during the war and local crises with the aim of rapid recovery of Ukraine in the post-war period both in the economic sphere and improved management terminology. Results. The foreign experience of the old industrial areas (OIA) of the countries of Western and Central Europe and the USA was studied: the steps to restructure the economy of the regions that survived the crisis and decline were analyzed in chronological order. Of great practical and theoretical importance is the study of the approaches of various foreign states to solving the problems of the OIA, finding and implementing new scenarios for their economic development, interaction with national and foreign business, as well as identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the strategies of state regulation of the process of economic revival of the OIA in world practice. Mistakes in the revitalization of old industrial regions have been identified, which should be paid attention to and avoided when adapting Ukraine's economic recovery policy. Common features with similar domestic experience are highlighted and future steps to restore the hospitality industry in Ukraine in the post-war period are outlined. In particular, we are talking about the creation of cultural events (festivals, sports competitions, museum openings, etc.), which in turn should increase tourist flows, including from abroad. For the proper development of tourism, it will be necessary to create accommodation places for guests and places for their meals, for this purpose it will be possible to use the areas of destroyed industrial facilities (factories, plants). The opportunities for the development of industrial tourism in the eastern part of Ukraine are outlined. The article is devoted to the study of foreign loanwords in management terminology. Our goal is to find out the reasons for borrowings, to trace the phonetic, morphological and semantic changes that foreign terms undergo in the process of their assimilation into the Ukrainian language. The lack of thorough scientific research devoted to the study of national and international components in Ukrainian management terminology, the ratio of national and international in it determines the relevance of the study. In the conditions of globalization, tracing terminology is a means of countering English-speaking pressure. In addition, the advantage of tracing, according to the researchers, is the possibility to make the term motivated, besides, if a new concept is indicated in the donor language by a phrase, tracing is almost the only technically possible way of accurate and motivated reproduction of its native language. No matter how rich a natural language is, when creating terms it needs the lexical and word-forming resources of highly developed languages.

The new coronavirus (Covid-19) is one of the main challenges world today has to address. With no large scale availability vaccine yet, and more or less experimental medical treatments for curing the disease, we can safely say that we are still far behind a solution to this problem. This new pandemic is considered the biggest threat to the global economy since the Second World War and there is no aspects of human life have not been affected it, spiritual ones included. Its high contagiousness, as well as novelty, raised all kind of challenges and one of the main ones was our manner to produce answers, in early stages at least, this creating problem on its own and of its design. As well as all the other institutions, theatres, cinemas, concert halls, spaces of socialization and in the same time places of wonder, knowledge and spiritual enrichment the museums were heavily affected by the pandemic crisis, especially those who’s collections are not, but in very small proportion available, to the public through virtual media. Such a case is „Princely Court„ National Museums Ensemble from Targoviste, Dambovita County, Romania. The present paper proposes an overview of the highlights in institution′s activity the past years in comparison with how the pandemic crisis affected its activity in the past months and what were the responses given to keep the museum in the eye of the public. It will also try to summarize how and to what extent the activity went back to „normal” after the emergency state earlier imposed was lifted and how the visitors responded to the new realities.

Purpose - The topic of the need for re-transformation of Bulgarian museums is of particular importance for Bulgarian tourism. Destination Bulgaria has an inherited potential to match its direct competitors - Greece and Turkey - in the field of cultural tourism, in its varieties of museum and cognitive tourism. At the same time, however, existing museums are lagging behind the good management and modernization practices that can contribute to their competitiveness. Therefore, the purpose of this study is projected in two widespread beliefs that are typical of modern tourism practice. On the one hand, the satisfaction of tourists and stakeholders in destinations is of paramount importance. The management of competitive advantages must be subordinated to the concept of sustainability, while the tourist deserves the best possible memorable experiences. The other aspect concerns the tourist experience and the fact that more and more tourists are creating their own experiences. In this framework, the focus of research is on museums in Bulgaria, in view of their ability to activate their own networks and resources. Some good practices are presented, which could be multiplied to influence satisfaction with the help of the tools of interpretation. Methodology – The chosen research methodology is in accordance with the formulated research goal. Complex in nature, the methodological apparatus deals primarily with quality methods. In particular, it includes a review of specialized publications on the subject, at the same time using methods of observation, expert evaluation and synthesis. However, at the basis are the case study method and the tools of interpretation. Findings – In the process of globalization, limitation, vulnerability and endangerment of tourist resources, as well as increasing tourist and economic pressure on individual tourist destinations, there will be a growing interest in the opportunities provided by the development and application of interpretation techniques in museums. The studied practices and the conclusions made have their limited significance in the scope of the network of museums in Bulgaria. At the same time, however, any good practice presented is an opportunity for “inspiration”, which is also a universal experience. The findings of this study help to promote the transformation of museums in the development of their services in view of tourist experiences and maintaining sustainability in all its aspects. Contribution – The topic is highly relevant for Bulgaria, because there are still no established practices for applying heritage interpretation, especially in the museums in their capacity of tourist sites. It is of significance for tourism and museum practices in general, taking into account the importance of satisfaction for modern tourists and the need for targeted and planned activities in this respect. Therefore, any scientific development on this topic will contribute to its supplementation and further development.

Abstract. Purpose – the aim of the article is to present the concept of cultural economics upon analysing the scientific literature and to single out the factors that influence the development of cultural economics. Research methodology – analysis and synthesis of scientific literature. The articles published in CA WoS were analysed in order to extract high-quality information on the topic of cultural economics. Findings – after analysis of the scientific literature, the factors of cultural economics have been determined. They are as follows: creativity; new technologies; consumer society; public authorities; artistic forms; media, information, digitisation; local cultural identity; public sector approach to culture; theatre, cinema, museums, crafts; media, social networks; the needs for a consumer society and culture; public sector funding for culture. Research limitations – the main limitation of the current research is that the factors of cultural economics are distinguished from the scientific literature. For more precise identification, the experts should be interviewed as well. Practical implications – the distinguished factors could be used for measurement of the level of a country’s cultural economics level. Originality/Value – the article summarises

This paper is the result of the research conducted on more than 200 archaeological artefacts from the Museum of Burriana as a result of 6 years of scientific collaboration between the Museum and the Instituto Universitario para la Restauración del Patrimonio of the Universitat Politècnica de València. Digital X-rays Technology has been used on these artefacts. This technique has allowed achieving valuable information in different aspects of the artefacts: from its content (in the case of well-preserved specimens) to technical manufacturing, or analysis of evidence of previous restoration interventions. The application of Digital X-ray Technology has shown a number of important benefits; not only at the economic level and data manipulation, but also allowing as data collectors that can be further processed and thereby obtain outcome. Education is one of the most important signs of social progress and throughout the years a twofold evolution has taken place: on the one hand, the providers of knowledge have evolved from schools and universities to the business community and on the other hand, the traditional receivers of knowledge have changed into creators of knowledge. Business organizations have become aware that the corporate involvement in the community by implementing social campaigns on education may trigger a higher degree of visibility and consolidate the stakeholder relationship management. Thus the well-known corporate social responsibility (CSR) syntagm, ?doing well by doing good? (Rawlins, 2005) has turned into a pervasive element of the organizational discourse. As the report on CSR of the European Commission and the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (2011) highlighted, CSR should not be ?an isolated practice or teaching subject but a cross-cutting approach embedded in the wider concept of sustainable development?. The economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic dimensions beyond every CSR activity should be integrated within the framework of campaigns which ?are often driven by reform efforts, actions that seek to make life or society or both better, as defined by emerging social values? (Dozier et. al, 2001). The final outcome of improving people?s life and/ or society involves stirring one?s awareness towards an issue. Investing into people?s education has become a pervasive issue for many organizations nowadays and non-formal education is a type of acquiring knowledge which the business community seems to prefer because it lies on social constructivism whose purposes are self-knowledge, development of identities, and belief that stakeholders can make a difference in the world (Oldfather et al., 1999). Within the age of Web 2.0 the traditional non-formal learning settings (museums, zoos, botanical gardens, planetariums and so on) have changed into online environments where features such as engaging, participating, connecting, collaborating, and sharing (Lee, Williams, Kim, 2012) prevail. Running a CSR 2.0 campaign on non-formal education implies that business organizations create these virtual environments where social media applications are used as a bidirectional information delivery system where stakeholders play an active role in the collaborative knowledge construction. As methodology, we will use the framing theory in order to provide the content analysis of the CSR 2.0 campaigns on non-formal education which were awarded at the Romanian PR Award in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Frames rely on the selection of some aspects of a perceived reality which are made more salient in a communicating (e-)text. We will provide a threefold analysis: a) a general framework of the Romanian CSR 2.0 campaigns on non-formal education taking into account R. Entman?s four frame types: problem definition, causal interpretation, moral evaluation and treatment recommendation; b) a structural analysis of non-formal education virtual environments as a hybrid genre formed of multimodal resources; c) a comparative analysis of the online environments framed as treatment recommendations which were used in the awarded Romanian CSR 2.0 campaigns on education. The research questions will focus on four aspects: the salience of business organizations as providers of non-formal education; the dominance of the awarded thematic online environments; the types of social actions framed in the different thematic e-learning environments; the types of digital identities virtually assigned to stakeholders. This exhibition gathers a number of artworks belonging to a diverse group of Latin American embassies and diplomats and their delegations and organizations in Washington, D.C. For a city that boasts such a wealth of artistic institutions on the National Mall, representing art from all corners of the world (the National Museum of African Art, the Freer and Sackler Galleries for Asian arts, and the National Gallery of Art with its impressive collection of European art from the Middle Ages to the present, to name a few), the absence - for whatever reason- of a major institution in the nation¿s capital representing the arts of Latin America is, in itself, a rather negative statement of sorts. This fact, combined with the proclivity of the press to report on the usually not-so-positive aspects of the social, political, and economic realities of the region, tends to indiscriminately put the prestige of Latin American countries at risk, and creates an unappreciative feeling among the public toward a region that, despite its inconsistencies, has excelled culturally for centuries.
