Digitization is a trend and need in every activity. Almost all activities are always in contact with technology. Likewise with Indonesian transportation which cannot be separated from the use of technology. So this study aims to examine the feeling of information technology in operational and management activities at the Indonesian transportation facility, namely PT. Go-Jek Indonesia. The method in this study is direct observation of the perpetrators of Go-Jek transportation with qualitative data. The results show that the E-Commerce system plays an important role in the smooth running of people's life activities, many conveniences are provided both in traveling, ordering a joint, ordering food or other facilities. Vice versa with workers in this field are very accommodated with the information system used.

Anticipating the era of Society 5.0, communities and organizations are required to have integrated and comprehensive information access, including the management of mosques in Indonesia. This study aims at providing a strategic planning in the form of a portfolio for future application of mosques management information system services. This study was conducted with reference to Ward and Peppard’s strategic plan for information systems, which included SWOT analysis, critical success factor method and McFarlan’s strategic grid. The results showed the mosque management must have several applications, mapped into 4 quadrants (strategic, high potential, key operation, and support). It is expected that this application portfolio can help managers of mosques in Indonesia provide faster, more accurate, and more accountable information.

A comprehensive company information system is called Accounting, because it processes all transactions into a document in the form of financial statements. Its role is systematic and covers the entire data and information of documents from all the company's business transaction activities as a whole. Information obtained from the information system in the accounting report will be submitted to management. In this era of globalization, the role of information systems is very important in various fields. Companies must focus on providing users with fast, accurate but still accurate information to financial statements, and other financial data that contribute to decisions and policies made by management. The company uses information systems in the hope that it can help the company achieve its goals. The accounting information system that is currently widely applied by companies is the Information System on Accounts Payable or Accounts Payable. In addition to providing information on Trade Debt data or Accounts Payable, PT Framas Indonesia has applied the Accounting Information System well. Most of the processes have been computerized properly, PT Framas has also designed recording procedures and Internal Control on Accounts Payable. Double checks are also carried out on several processes so as to minimize errors in payment.

The application of smart campuses (SC), especially at higher education institutions (HEI) in Indonesia, is very diverse, and does not yet have standards. As a result, SC practice is spread across various areas in an unstructured and uneven manner. KM is one of the critical components of SC. However, the use of KM to support SC is less clearly discussed. Most implementations and assumptions still consider the latest IT application as the SC component. As such, this study aims to identify the components of the KM model for SC. This study used a systematic literature review (SLR) technique with PRISMA procedures, an analytical hierarchy process, and expert interviews. SLR is used to identify the components of the conceptual model, and AHP is used for model priority component analysis. Interviews were used for validation and model development. The results show that KM, IoT, and big data have the highest trends. Governance, people, and smart education have the highest trends. IT is the highest priority component. The KM model for SC has five main layers grouped in phases of the system cycle. This cycle describes the organization’s intellectual ability to adapt in achieving SC indicators. The knowledge cycle at HEIs focuses on education, research, and community service.

To ensure the quality of the application meets the standards and needs of the user, it can be done by performing software testing based on the ISO 25010 standard.

Background: The hospital management information system (HMIS) is a computer system that processes entire health care business processes, including reporting and administrative procedures, to obtain information quickly, precisely, and accurately. The Wonosari Regional Hospital is a type B hospital that has implemented the HMIS. This study aimed to analyse the HMIS use in the Wonosari Regional Hospital, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta.Methods: This is a quantitative study using a cross sectional design. Seventy-nine staffs participated in this study that recruited using the purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a pre-tested questionnaire, then analysed statistically.Results: Perceived ease of use was found significant (p-value ≤ 0.05) associated with HMIS use.Conclusions: Perceived ease of use influenced the use of HMIS at the Wonosari Regional Hospital, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta.

Incorporating blockchain into Halal traceability systems is developing in nature; the research aspires to examine the participation intent in blockchain-empowered Halal fashion traceability (BHFT) system via a joint framework that includes diffusion of innovation theory, institutional theory, and Halal-oriented approach. The study uses a simple random sampling method to collect the data from 165 Indonesian Halal fashion manufacturing companies. PLS-SEM is employed to examine the conceptual framework. Findings show that Halal-oriented approach significantly affects institutional pressures, while institutional pressures significantly affects perceived desirability, and perceived desirability significantly affects the participation intent. The companies operating an inclusive Halal-oriented approach will be more aware of the institutional pressures that expect them to partake in a BHFT. The paper enhances the existing literature in Halal supply chains, blockchain, operation management, and information systems via a cohesive framework and empirical insight.

This study aims to determine the implementation of accounting information systems, management information systems, and performance measurement systems on managerial performance. The research population is the employees of PT. Indonesia Nippon Steel Pipe Karawang, West Java. Sampling using purposive sampling method. Based on these criteria, 100 employees were selected as samples in this study. The data analysis method uses the data analysis method using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) Partial Least Square (PLS) with Smart PLS Version 3 software. The test results show that the implementation of accounting information systems has an influence on managerial performance. The implementation of the performance measurement system has an influence on managerial performance.

Aid information management systems (AIMS) have been implemented in aidreceiving countries with the hope that they will enable donors and recipient governments to share aid information, enhance data governance and aid coordination among stakeholders. Despite the global popularity of data-driven development initiatives and heavy investment in AIMS, many systems have not fulfilled the expected outcomes. This research seeks to explain this failure from an information systems perspective. Building on a historical overview of AIMS implementation, I first develop an understanding of how such systems evolved and how the visions of aid effectiveness norms that AIMS inscribed have changed over time alongside the shifting global aid governance. This overview clearly shows that, in many cases, AIMS did not attain the result anticipated, and often failed to reach sustainability. I then investigate this sustainability failure, through an interpretive case study of Indonesian AIMS. I trace the change of international and domestic aid governance that shaped the unique context of AIMS in the emerging economy. Investigating the role of state actor, I argue that understanding the failure of AIMS requires a shift of attention from the process of aid management within a country to the global level. It needs to be seen as a result of macro-level events occurring in the global field of aid. In the dynamics of global power relations, the role of technology is multifaceted—a mixture of managerial and rationalizing, as well as symbolic and political roles.

This study focuses on the institutionalization of information security in the banking sector. This study is important to pursue since it explicates the internalization of information security governance and practices and how such internalization develops an organizational resistance towards security breach. The study argues that information security governance and practices become institutionalized through social integration of routines and system integration of relevant technologies. The objective is to develop an understanding of how information security governance and practices in the Indonesian banking sector become institutionalized. Such objective is built on an argument that information security governance and practices become institutionalized through social integration of routines and system integration of relevant technologies. Pursuing this study is necessary to conceptualize the incorporation of security governance and practices as routines, the impact of security breaches on such routines, and the effects of a central governing body on such routines altogether. Accordingly, the concept of institutionalization is developed using Barley and Tolbert’s (1997) combination of institutional theory and structuration theory to explain the internalization of security governance and practices at an organizational level. Scott’s (2008) multilevel institutional processes based on institutional theory is needed to elaborate security governance and practices in an organization-to-organization context. The research design incorporates the interpretive case-study method to capture communicative interactions among respondents. Doing so provides answers to the following research questions: (1) how institutions internalize information security governance and practices, (2) how an external governing body affects the institutionalization of information security governance and practices in institutions, and (3) how security breaches re-institutionalize information security governance and practices in institutions. Several important findings include the habitualized security routines, information stewardship, and institutional relationship in information-security context. This study provides contributions to the body of literature, such as depicting how information security becomes internalized in an organization and the interaction among organizations engaged in implementing information security.

Solid waste management has been one of the critical issues in Jakarta, Indonesia.With enormous amounts of generated waste per day and limited supportinginfrastructure, the city has faced serious threat of environmental deterioration andhealth hazard. It relies on one sanitary landfill only, whose capacity is currently beingexceeded, leading to excessive amounts of solid wastes left untreated in the city. An assessment with a system perspective was carried out, aiming to examine thecomplexity with regard to substance flows, environmental impacts, and energyturnover associated to solid waste management. Different scenarios were constructedand compared using the ORWARE model as the simulation tool. The modelcomprises a number of processes starting from the generation point, all the waythrough means of collection and transportation, treatments e.g. incineration andbiological processes, before final disposal in the sanitary landfill. In this thesis work,an open dumping submodel for the untreated waste was developed to illustrate thegreat impact of this practice. Furthermore, the model comprises materials recycling ofcertain products, which in Jakarta normally are collected in an informal system,involving thousands of scavengers, collectors, and waste suppliers. Externally relatedsystems, e.g. power generation and fertilizer production were also included in theanalysis, to implement a life cycle analysis concept in the delivery of certainfunctional units. The study focused on four different solid waste management scenarios. The first onewas the current situation, while the other three investigated the future state wherebyincreased amounts of generated solid waste were handled either (i) in a similarmanagement system as today, (ii) by a mixture of landfilling, incineration andbiological treatment, and (iii) phasing out all landfilling for biological treatment andincineration. The simulations showed that landfilling is the least preferable choice from anenvironmental point of view. Phasing it out by introducing incineration and biologicaltreatment would be beneficial in reducing the environmental impacts and recoveringnutrients as well as energy. Untreated waste also plays an important role for the totalimpact, and even dominates eutrophication impacts for all scenarios. Improvementscan be achieved by an effective source separation, and an increased collectionefficiency. A further analysis particularly on the economic aspects of the treatment systemsstudied, coupled with the attempt to minimize the data gap in the submodels isrecommended, aiming to acquire an improved analysis for better decision making.Another study, related to valuation of environmental and resource losses caused byuntreated waste would also be important, seeking to analyze the avoided impacts thatcould be obtained by improving future solid waste management.

The way engineers and engineering companies do their work has significantly changed over the past twenty years. This is mainly due to the simultaneous development of computers (particularly personal computers) and software. Most engineers are likely to use several engineering application programs and mainstream software packages. Hence, information from one application must be capable of being transferred into other packages for further processing or analysing and reporting or documentation purposes. This thesis aims to investigate aspects of data management and applications integration in process engineering design. It proposes a new method and model for data storage, manipulation and representation, on which new process design environments may be based. Several aspects of integrated process design database systems are examined, including data models, data handling, program control and integration. A system called PREMIS has been developed which uses an object-oriented approach to data management. It utilises templates which mimic specification sheets used in process industry for defining objects in a design environment. The use of methods promotes a consistent look and feel to the tools in the environment. The application of PREMIS to a real process engineering design example illustrates the benefits of object-oriented techniques to the process systems and design community. Templates can be manipulated as entities. They are displayed on the screen where they serve as the data input device for design information. Data on the templates and stored in the database can be shared and accessed directly by design programs. The dynamic nature of the object definitions encourages experimentation with the new data types and methods. The system also aims to demonstrate the advantages of employing advanced integration features of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

This research explores two separate but related lines of enquiry - the business value of individual applications and the social and organisational impact of information systems. From this research it is clear that information systems have immense potential to change organisations. The conventional view focuses on the value that organisations can obtain through greater efficiency or new activities made possible by specific applications. But experience suggests that many organisations fail to gain the value expected. This research was started with the aim of attaining a greater understanding of the business value that information systems could offer organisations and finding ways by which organisations could assess and realise this value. The research has adopted a variety of methodological approaches and this integrating paper assesses the choices made and locates the papersin relation to the literature on information systems research methodology. The nine research papers taken together demonstrate that is business value is a complex concept and difficult to measure in practice. The research finds that the business and organisational environments are key factors in achieving the business value to be reaped from the range of benefits that each type of IS application offers. The research also demonstrates why IS evaluation practice continues to pose problems for researchers and practitioners. This integrating paper situates the work within the relevant literature on information systems research, assesses the contribution of the research papers to information systems research and concludes with a discussion of future research that flows from this work.

This research considers the theoretical and practical link between long-term sustainable development and disaster management. The aim is to develop a theoretical framework and a methodology which allows the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to manage the related information. Literature review leads us to understand development and disaster management as part of a learning cycle. Within this context, a common approach to information management is suggested to support the decision-making process in a cost-effective manner. A “universal” GIS is proposed to integrate information management for development and disaster while exploring the interactions between projects and project and the related geography which is considered a complex reality full of synergies between space, ecosystem, society, culture and economy. Study of academic production, practical implementations, interviews and a limited GIS application (using ArcMap and QGis) are used to endorse the capabilities of this concept. These capabilities are limited by lack of free information and cost of data gathering, interoperability and other technical issues. Open-source and crowdsourcing may solve some limitations while others need further research.

This thesis is about intervening in organisations to improve both operational and strategic computer-based information systems. It addresses a particular situation, in which human activity is seen to be a key factor in the success of the system. A stance is taken regarding current approaches to such development, supported by historical analysis of both the theory and practice of such approaches: in particular, the failure of traditional information systems development methodologies to address these situations is seen to question their validity. A review of existing theory and practice shows that computer-based information systems development appears to be dominated by functionalist, reductionist, engineering methods, marginally challenged by soft, interpretivist approaches. Analysis of the computer-based information systems development domain shows this to be an impoverished view, and indicates that an approach based on social systems is likely to be more representative of the problem situations faced. As a result, computer-based information systems development is taken beyond the 'hard-soft' debate, into a search for theoretical underpinning and practical approaches informed from social theory. However, whilst the theory is readily available, the application of that theory to computer-based information systems development is seen to be problematic. Potential improvement is achieved by the development of an interventionist framework which is based on a branch of social systems theory, that of critical social theory, and which draws heavily on work already undertaken in the domain of management science under the headings of critical systems thinking and total systems intervention. This framework is applied to two case studies and a major, longitudinal action research based investigation. The findings strongly support computer-based information systems development based on social, and especially critical social, theories. These findings are critiqued within the study, and from this emerge clear conclusions, and recommendations for future development.

Accounting systems are affected by historical, political, social and economic factors. Singapore and Indonesia were chosen for this study because there is very little written about accounting in either country. Singapore was under the British for nearly 150 years and the Indonesians were ruled by the Dutch for over 350 years. Besides these different colonial influences, both countries are different economically, politically and socially. This thesis traces the development of the accounting system, namely, corporate reporting, government accounting, capital market, accounting profession, accounting education and management accounting, in Indonesia and Singapore. It explains the influences that brought about these developments and analyses the features that distinguish the two systems. It is very common for developing countries to adopt foreign accounting systems. In the case of ex-colonies, the tendency has been for them to follow the practices of their colonial masters and to be influenced by the latter even after independence because of their longstanding relationships. However, the degree of reform after independence varies among countries. This study found that for Singapore, the process of adaptation and reform since independence has been dynamic, though, within the historical framework inherited from her colonial period, and there have been continued efforts to improve her accounting system to meet local requirements, and at the same time keep up with developments overseas, not only in the UK but also other developed countries such as the US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. In the case of Indonesia, major reforms in accounting are slow and in many areas, inadequately coordinated. Reform to the commercial code, adopted from the Dutch in 1848 has been stagnant to the extent that it virtually remains intact. At the other extreme, the Jakarta stock exchange, which was established in 1977 with US support, adopted US accounting and reporting practices. The consequences of the lack of control and co-ordination gave rise to sub-standard accounting practices and the emergence of dualism in accounting training, education and practice. For example, the training and education of accounting technicians follow the Dutch system, whereas at the tertiary level, namely at State universities, the American-oriented approach with a heavy emphasis on financial reporting and auditing is taught. While it is desirable for a developing country to follow and keep up-to-date with accounting practices in developed countries, the blind transplant of foreign systems will yield negative results if the questions of compatibility and the recipient country's needs are not adequately considered. In this regard, Singapore and Indonesia present two contrasting examples on how each country handled the issues of accounting development. Finally, we have learned from this thesis the importance for developing countries to adapt and improvise accounting systems to suit their particular needs, and that purely relying on foreign assistance is inadequate to ensure the success of any national accounting development programme.

AbstractRice is a daily staple for the most of Indonesian people, and rice consumption has increased every year as the population has increased (Suryani et al. 2016). Climate change has severely affected rice production by increasing minimum temperatures and changing rainfall patterns. The decline in rice yield due climate change could threaten national food security over the long term. To maintain the food self-supporting rate and support farmers, new technologies for adapting to climate change in farming systems are needed. Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT) (2020) reported that the Indonesian government published the National Action Plan for Climate Change Adaptation (Rencana Aksi Nasional Adaptasi Perubahan Iklim or RAN-API) in 2014, and the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) and the Ministry of National Development Planning, Indonesia (BAPPENAS) are cooperating to assess the impact of climate change for local adaptation planning in the Republic of Indonesia.

As appointed to represent the Indonesian government for managing entire upstream oil and gas business and operations throughout Indonesia, the Special Task Force For Upstream Oil and the Gas Business Activities Republic of Indonesia or known as SKK Migas, have established a vision to integrate monitoring all Production Sharing Contract (PSC) operators in Indonesia, transforming the conventional-manual approach—which was previously less effective and efficient, into an online integrated monitoring system. It is motivated by the digital transformation trend in the industrial world, which brings a new wave of opportunities to raise effectiveness and efficiency. However, the challenges are not easy. Despite the fact that Indonesia’s oil and gas industry has been operating for a long time ago, various technologies, some of which have used old technology, are the actual conditions that must be handled. Therefore, a systematical strategy is required. Step by step approach, by integrating real-time connections of plant information management systems are proposed to incorporate the major production systems, which are responsible for producing more than 80% of 6.600 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 700 thousand barrels of oil per day, from major oil and gas companies in Indonesia. The system was successfully built, which provides integrated real-time monitoring dashboards of major upstream operations in Indonesia and connected online with automatic reporting systems and early warning systems. The system’s dashboards and notifications give flexibility in connection, which can be accessed anytime and anywhere if an internet connection is available. During the pandemic COVID-19, which restricts inspection activities to the fields, the system is proven effective in monitoring points of view without losing supervision over the operational aspects, which assurances the achievement of the executed programs. In conclusion, the contribution of the presented work is the digital transformation in the oil and gas sector in Indonesia in terms of operational supervision, which successfully creates a collaborative working environment in managing the oil and gas production target achievement. It changes the interaction between government and PSC operator companies regarding data capture and process monitoring, bringing a new era in supporting the decision-making process.
