Résumé Le phénomène de mise en scène narrative de soi dans le journal intime ainsi que les possibles effets de construction qui peuvent en découler sont étudiés ici à partir de l’exemple du Journal (1874-1881) d’Henriette Dessaulles. L’évolution des figures textuelles du journal intime que sont le narrateur et le personnage permet de mettre au jour l’importance de la relation dynamique entre les différents signes textuels et d’identifier les stratégies diaristiques qui modulent l’écriture et la lecture du journal. L’analyse révèle que le Journal de Dessaulles, en se construisant sur une importante dualité entre les figures du narrateur et du personnage, bascule de la suprématie de l’un à la dissolution de l’autre ; ceci le conduit irrémédiablement à sa fermeture et met en relief le processus de formation propre à tous journaux intimes.

Malgré l’immense intérêt qu’il suscite, particulièrement depuis le début des années 1980, le journal intime, même s’il présente à l’occasion un caractère littéraire, continue de s’inscrire hors du champ de la littérature proprement dite. Or, ce jugement discriminatoire à l’égard du genre diaristique n’est pas que l’apanage de la critique, mais aussi celui d’un certain nombre d’écrivains qui s’adonnent à cette pratique et en assurent de surcroît la publication. C’est même cette position « anti-littéraire » du genre diaristique qui, semble-t-il, en constitue la principale puissance d’attraction. En effet, cette écriture « libre », qui se déploie dans un genre apparemment sans code, semble offrir la possibilité à certains écrivains de se positionner « contre » la littérature, en portant un regard extérieur et diffracté sur elle. Dans cet article, il s’agira donc d’examiner la charge critique (à la fois éthique et esthétique) que revêtent trois journaux d’écrivains québécois contemporains dont la démarche semble viser tout autant une dénonciation des normes qui président à l’ordre des discours qu’une tentative de légitimation de leur parole à travers la « formation » du genre diaristique, ce dernier devenant, paradoxalement, garant de leur statut d’écrivain.

Le 25 janvier 1884, le Daily Starde Montréal écrivait: « After all, no very great statesmanship is wanted in Québec, only a little business ability, some honesty and a great deal of independence of character.» Cette conception d'un ministre provincial semble un peu étroite depuis que la revalorisation de l'État est à l'ordre du jour et que le budget annuel du Québec atteint 2,6 milliards de dollars. Elle explique peut-être pourquoi on ne s'est jamais attardé à analyser ni le fonctionnement des cabinets provinciaux, ni leur composition, ni les coutumes et les influences qui président à leur formation. Sauf Robert Rumilly qui, dans son Histoire de ta province de Québec, ne rate jamais l'occasion de dévoiler les intrigues qui accompagnent la naissance d'un cabinet, personne n'a encore analysé la formation d'un seul cabinet provincial, encore moins présenté une analyse systématique de la question. L'assimilation du cabinet provincial à un super-conseil municipal n'est pas seule en cause. Les documents sur le sujet sont rares. Peu de premiers ministres nous ont légué leurs archives personnelles, aucun n'a écrit ses mémoires, sauf Antonio Barrette. Les journaux demeurent la source la plus accessible mais aussi la plus discutable. Ce sera la faiblesse de cette étude de ne pas reposer sur une plus complète documentation historique. Les Canadian Parliamentary Guides et les journaux, complétés par quelques études d'histoire politique et des confidences de certaines personnalités politiques, forment la documentation de base. Si ces sources ne répondent pas à toutes les exigences scientifiques, elles permettent toutefois d'esquisser un schéma d'explication valable de nos cabinets provinciaux.

L’histoire des guerres de religions bruisse de rumeurs et fausses nouvelles, reflets de l’angoisse du peuple en période de crises. Si leurs sources sont difficiles à identifier, leur réception donne à voir une prise de position critique à leur égard. La crédulité naïve fait place à l’enquête pour vérifier le bien-fondé de l’information, signes d’une attitude intellectuelle apprise à l’école de l’humanisme, qu’on observera à partir de la récente édition du Journal du règne de Henri IV de Pierre de L’Estoile (1592-1594). Le relevé des bruits par L’Estoile (fausses annonces de la prise du roi ou de morts subites, écho des bruits de la scène internationale comme la menace ottomane, récits des bruits et diffamations « ad hominem »), s’accompagne de la dénonciation des manipulations qui les sous-tendent et s’inscrivent contre la propagande ligueuse qui tient Paris. L’appel au sens critique pour évaluer la véracité des informations dénote la formation humaniste du parlementaire parisien ainsi qu’une conscience politique aiguë et une volonté tenace de ne pas se laisser abuser par les menées de la Ligue qu’il tourne souvent en dérision. L’analyse des bruits et de leur réception dans le Journal reflète la naissance de l’opinion publique au sein de l’espace public parisien, phénomène social nouveau, décrit par Habermas, lié à la politisation d’une certaine frange de la population au moment des guerres de Religion. Avec l’entrée victorieuse d’Henri IV dans Paris, se dit l’émotion d’un peuple meurtri, qui ne cache pas sa joie du retour du roi et de la promesse de paix qu’il représente.

Défenseur du suffrage universel et du gouvernement représentatif, Condorcet n’est pourtant pas favorable au principe de la délibération avant le vote. Son théorème du jury montre que la formation de partis ou factions réduit le nombre de voix indépendantes et, par-là, les chances pour la décision collective d’atteindre la vérité. Cet article suggère cependant que Condorcet se méfie moins de l’échange délibératif des raisons que de son détournement dans un contexte discursif défini par l’oralité et l’immédiateté des échanges. Condorcet appelle ainsi de ses vœux le développement d’une délibération écrite, par livres et journaux interposés, en vue de contribuer à la décision démocratique éclairée.

RÉSUMÉÀ partir de l'étude détaillée d'une grèze litée répondant à la définition granulo-métrique proposée par Guillien, les différentes hypothèses avancées concernant les processus de mise en place de ces dépôts ont été ré-examinées. Les données recueillies lors des observations de terrain, les résultats des analyses sédimentologiques et ceux de l'analyse micromorphologique ont permis de cerner le processus dominant conduisant à la stratification des grèzes. Le rôle majeur attribué au ruissellement par Guillien est remis en question par l'absence de figures d'incision, de granoclassements longitudinaux, de structures obliques ou entrecroisées. L'hypothèse congélifluxion-ruissellement de Journaux ne permet pas d'expliquer les granoclassements verticaux; par ailleurs, le ruissellement diffus ne peut seul aboutir à la formation d'une « table » bien marquée au sommet des lits gras. En revanche, Journaux et Francou font appel à la solifluxion pour la mise en place des lits gras. Le modèle andin de Francou qui privilégie la cryoreptation nous semble le mieux adapté pour expliquer le litage des grèzes charentaises. Les granoclassements verticaux, les contacts entre les lits, les figures sedimentaires observés dans le milieu andin ont été retrouvés dans les grèzes litées charentaises. Le mécanisme de la nappe-coulée a donc été retenu comme moteur essentiel de la stratogénèse. De ce fait, le contexte climatique d'élaboration des grèzes est caractérisé par la grande fréquence de cycles gel-dégel brefs, superficiels et des apports de neige faibles mais renouvelés fournissant l'eau nécessaire à une cryoclastie et à une cryoreptation actives. La formation des grèzes litées se situerait donc pendant les phases froides et humides qui ont été les plus durables au cours du dernier cycle glaciaire, la phase plus froide et plus sèche terminale ayant provoqué le remaniement du sommet de la grèze (fauchages, cryoturbations).

Résumé Une nouvelle pratique d’enseignement et d’apprentissage a été conçue et mise à l’essai dans le cadre d’un cours avancé sur l’utilisation des TIC destiné à de futurs enseignants francophones. Pour l’élaborer, nous avons pris appui sur trois modèles qui soulignent l’importance de la cohérence entre la théorie et la pratique. Une étude de cas a été menée auprès de huit futurs enseignants. Les données du questionnaire et des journaux réflexifs ont permis de constater que, si certains futurs enseignants apprécient une formation axée sur la conception d’un projet de collaboration avec des enseignants en exercice, cette tâche s’avère plus ardue pour d’autres. En outre, la majorité a apprécié recevoir un ordinateur portatif pour parfaire ses compétences technologiques et pédagogiques des TIC.

Cet article, qui se veut exploratoire et programmatique, cherche à mesurer l’implication du protestantisme dans la révolution culturelle des années 1960. La naissance du Séminaire de culture théologique de Lausanne, en 1962, fournit un cas d’école. L’étude du contexte et surtout des sources (revues, cahiers, journaux) qui sont alors produites dans les milieux protestants de Suisse romande montre une effervescence théologique particulière. Celle-ci travaille, au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, à repenser l’implication du christianisme dans la société. Un projet qui se concrétise dans le souci de démocratiser la théologie et de décléricaliser le protestantisme en créant différents lieux de formation d’adultes. Les Églises protestantes ont ainsi désamorcé elles-mêmes leur propre système d’autorité, ouvrant la porte à la génération Mai 68.

L’objet de cette recherche est de concevoir une nouvelle méthode de mesure de l’audience de la presse pour dépasser les limites de la Lecture Récente, méthode courante de mesure de l’audience de ce média. Un cadre conceptuel de la mesure d’audience de la presse centré sur les comportements des consommateurs est tout d’abord mis en place et se traduit par une taxonomie des comportements susceptibles de favoriser la formation de l’audience des supports de presse. Ces comportements qualifiés dans la littérature de décisions d’utilisations finales sont ensuite étudiés ; le domaine d’application choisi pour mener l����étude empirique est la presse sportive périodique française. Les résultats de cette étude montrent notamment que le comportement de reprise en main est un phénomène généralisé. Ils prouvent par ailleurs le potentiel de consommation en différé des publications ; ils indiquent que la probabilité de circulation des titres à l’issue d’une première consommation est en moyenne de 80% et permettent de mettre en évidence que la consommation à caractère collectif n’est pas un comportement marginal. Notre recherche trouve son aboutissement dans la conception d’un nouveau procédé permettant de recueillir les comportements d’audience presse de façon automatisée à partir d’un téléphone mobile. Le choix d’un panel comme mode d’observation et l’élaboration d’un questionnaire adapté à la mesure du parcours éditorial et publicitaire des consommateurs de presse finalisent notre dispositif méthodologiqueThe aim of this research project is to conceive a new method of measuring press readership in order to surpass the limits of recent reading, the common method of readership measurement for this type of media. We have begun by designing a conceptual framework for measuring press readership-per-copy focused on consumer behavior and set up so as to classify behavior which is likely to contribute to the shaping of press support readership. This behavior, referred to as end-use decision-making in the literature, is then subject to study, the chosen field of application for empirical study being the French periodical sports press. The results of this study demonstrate in particular that the trend of pass along reading is a generalized phenomenon. They establish the potential of pass along consumption for press titles. The findings further indicate that the probability of reuse of a press title subsequent to its primary consumption is on average about 80%, a statistic which highlights the fact that the collective nature of this consumer behavior is not marginal. Our project has been enhanced with the development of a new research tool which allows for the automated collection of data concerning press readership behavior via cell phone. Finally, to conclude our methodological approach, we have chosen the sample group as a means of observational research and have elaborated a questionnaire tailored to measure the editorial and advertising readership of press consumers

Les observateurs de l'hypermodernité y repèrent, en continuité de ses inquiétudes constitutives (politiques, écologiques...), une idéologie du contrôle et de la transparence, mettant en péril la notion même d'intimité, et un nouveau statut accordé à la réflexivité, qui devient la solution à tous les maux. En croisant ces observations, il apparait en effet que les pratiques visant le développement de la réflexivité, dans les champs professionnel ou de formation, ont pour attendu une certaine transparence (cognitive et affective) de soi face à un autrui généralement collectif. Une telle transparence, pouvant aller jusqu'à la surexposition de soi est ici questionnée à l'aune de travaux psychanalytique montrant, au contraire, que la réflexivité ne se développe chez l'enfant (ainsi que chez l'enfant dans l'adulte) qu'à condition que soit préservé un espace d'intimité, de secret. Nous pouvons ainsi différencier une réflexivité constituée, à quoi renvoie la plupart des travaux sur la réflexivité en sciences de l'éducation, et une réflexivité constituante qui, à partir de l'apport psychanalytique, souligne que l'adulte, pour se former voire se transformer, retrouve les processus archaïques ayant construit jadis son identité. Il en découle que, pour cet adulte, comme pour l'enfant qu'il était, un environnement lui garantissant un espace-temps d'intimité préservée, sans surexposition de soi, semble particulièrement favorable à sa formation et au développement de sa réflexivité.Notre terrain s'appuie sur l'un des dispositifs possible (le journal de recherche) garantissant un tel espace-temps d'initimité dans le cadre d'une formation d'étudiants inscrits à l'université en master 2. A travers l'analyse de ces journaux, nous cherchons à repérer les deux niveaux de réflexivité (constituée et constituante) à travers leurs étayages réciproques et leurs porosités l'un à l'autre. Nous considérons, après d'autres, que s'engager en formation à la recherche repose, certes, sur une enquête (réflexivité constituée) mais réactive en même temps les balbutiements de la quête de soi de l'enfant dans l'adulte (réflexivité constituante). Dit autrement, l'objet de recherche choisi par l'étudiant est l'héritier de l'ancien objet d'amour de son enfance ; l'enquête et la quête ne sont pas dissociées. A l'issue de nos analyses, plusieurs pistes de recherche sont proposées en sciences de l'éducation, notamment celle d'un rapprochement entre travail de l'intime d'un point de vue psychanalytique et conception plus sociologique des dynamiques identitaires en formation, ou encore celleObservers of the hypermodernity track down there, in continuance of its essential anxieties (political, ecological), an ideology of control and transparency, putting in danger the notion of intimacy, and a new status granted to the reflexivity, which becomes the solution of all the troubles. By crossing these observations, it indeed seems that the practices aiming at the development of the reflexivity, in professional or educational fields, have for expectation a certain transparency (cognitive and emotional) from one in front of collective others. Such a transparency, being able to go to the overexposure of one, is questioned here in the psychoanalytical field showing, on the contrary, that the reflexivity develops only (for the child as well as for the child in the adult) if a protected space of intimacy and secret is provided. So we can differentiate a constituted reflexivity, to which send back most of the works on the reflexivity in educational sciences, and a constituent reflexivity which, from the psychoanalytical contribution, underlines that the adult, to form or transform himself or herself, retrieve the archaic processes having built formerly his or her identity. It ensues that, for this adult, as for the child that he or she was, an environment guaranteeing a space-time of protected intimacy, without overexposure of one, seems particularly supportive to his or her training and to the development of his or her reflexivity.Our fieldwork leans on one of the possible devices (the research log) guaranteeing such a space-time of initimacy for students' training at the university in master 2. Through the analysis of these logs, we want to track down both levels of reflexivity (constituted and constituent) through their mutual supports and their porosities one to another. We consider that involvment in training to the research rests, certainly, on an inquiry (constituted reflexivity) but revives at the same time the stammerings of the quest of oneself of the child in the adult (constituent reflexivity). Said otherwise, the research object chosen by the student is the heir of the ancient object of love of its childhood ; the inquiry and the quest are not separated. At the conclusion of our analyses, several research tracks are proposed in educational sciences, notably about sensorialites as supports of the reflexivity, or linking work about intimacy from a psychoanalytical point of view and more sociological conception of the identity dynamics in training

Depuis la parution du Programme de formation de l’école québécoise (PFEQ) du primaire et du secondaire (MEQ, 2001; 2005; MELS, 2006; 2007), l’éducation à la citoyenneté s’arrime officiellement à la discipline scolaire d’histoire (et de la géographie pour le primaire). Maintes recherches soulignent l’imprécision de la documentation officielle quant aux fondements et aux visées de cette éducation ainsi qu’aux liens qu’elle devrait entretenir avec la discipline scolaire de l’histoire (Guay et Jutras, 2004; Lefrançois et Éthier, 2008; Legendre, 2002; Martineau et Gauthier, 2002; Moisan, 2010; Morel, 2007; Paulus, 2007; Wood et Lebrun, 2004). Cet arrimage soulève également de multiples réactions dans les médias (Cardin, 2010), qui sont à la base du questionnement de la présente recherche sur les positionnements adoptés dans des journaux québécois grand public (2000-2014). Le cadre conceptuel soutenant l’analyse de contenu dans quatre de ces journaux repose sur les positionnements émanant de la documentation scientifique québécoise : 1) positionnements favorable, mitigé ou défavorable à cet arrimage en lien avec des facteurs internes à la discipline de l’histoire et 2) positionnements favorable, mitigé ou défavorable à cet arrimage en lien avec des facteurs externes à la discipline de l’histoire. Les résultats de la recherche montrent que les arguments présentés dans les journaux sont davantage défavorables à cet arrimage, notamment lorsqu’il est question du débat entourant le programme d’histoire nationale. Ces arguments sont en lien avec des facteurs internes à la discipline de l’histoire et liés à une surpondération des finalités extrascolaires.

Cette thèse de doctorat propose une analyse des journaux de l'écrivain autrichien Heimito von Doderer. Si l'on considère le journal lui-même comme une pièce, il semble avoir trois fonctions fondamentales, équivalent à trois fenêtres : l'une d'elle s'ouvre directement sur le moi de l'auteur, une autre sur le monde extérieur et la dernière sur l'oeuvre en gestation. La première partie, entre "monde intérieur et extérieur", examine le Journaux en les confrontant à différentes branches du genre comme le journal intime, le journal philosophique ou encore le journal de voyage. La deuxième se concentre sur les liens étroits qui se tissent entre les commentarii de l'auteur et l'oeuvre en gestation. Cependant, "l'objectif" du Journal ne se focalise pas exclusivement sur les romans en train de naître et la dernière et la dernière partie cherche en ce sens à dégager les fondements et principales fonctions d'un genre protéiformeThe primary aim of his dissertation is to analyse the diaries of Austrian author Heimito von Doderer. The diary can be seen essentially to have three basic perspectives, which might be compared with three windows : one towards oneself, one towards the outside world and finally a third towards the work itself. In the first part, entitled "between inward and outward", Doderer's Commentarii are considered in relation to different branches of the genre, such as the journal intime, the intellectual diary and also travel journal. The second part examines the extremely narrow and fascinating relation to the emerging work : the diary of the author often functions as father of the novels. The diary in Doderer's case though never becomes just a simple companion to the maturing work. The author has over the decades, also reflected upon the different possibilities of the genre and the aim of the last part is then to examine the "basic principles and function" of a diary

Le journalisme constitue une representation du monde social construite par les outils technologiques utilises par le journaliste dans son travail (le carnet de notes, l'appareil photo, la camera). Ces outils rationalisent les pratiques journalistiques en les engageant dans une lecture du monde social. C'est un systeme de valeurs objective sur la page du journal. Cette rationalite s'inscrit dans l'histoire longue du journalisme, lorsqu'il devient une profession avec des procedures specifiques. A partir de la liberation, le journalisme systematise ses categories d'intelligibilite a partir d'un objet pedagogique precis : le journal-ecole. L’énoncé de la thèse, au fur et à mesure de son élaboration en acte, recouvre deux postures présentées antagonistes a priori qui sont et restent profondément paradoxales : la pose d’un conditionnel en construction pouvant sembler discursif et l’authenticité d’une posture proche d’un tiers inclus en acte. La « douance » comme objet de recherche est questionnée à partir d’une pratique de journal par son auteur depuis 12 ans. Cette recherche vise à étudier les effets perçus d'une formation au Journal créatif, un outil d'exploration de soi et de développement de la créativité, sur l'estime de soi. Considérant la complexité et la subjectivité de l'estime de soi, une méthodologie qualitative a été appliquée afin d'avoir accès aux perceptions et au vécu des sujets. Des entrevues individuelles ont été menées auprès de six participantes ayant complété une formation sur le Journal créatif. Une analyse de contenu a été effectuée, révélant que la majorité des participantes a perçu une augmentation de l'estime de soi suite à la formation au Journal créatif, particulièrement dans le sens d'une amélioration de la relation à soi-même.

"Dans un " journal de bord d'apprentissage ", tel qu'il existe dans les différentes formations à la didactique des langues, les étudiants ont à consigner leur expérience d'apprentissage d'une langue nouvelle. C'est à cet objet textuel complexe, hétérogène, intertextuel que l'étude est consacrée. La recherche s'intéresse à la pratique du journal de bord apprentissage telle qu'elle est organisée dans le cadre des formations professionnelles des enseignants de FLE et plus particulièrement dans le contexte spécifique de la formation de FLE dispensée à l'université Paris III-Sorbonne nouvelle. Elle se propose de contribuer à définir ce qu'est un journal de bord d'apprentissage au " niveau macro ", dans une perspective historique et " générique ", au " niveau micro ", dans sa réalité textuelle et discursive, puis d'évaluer le rôle de cette activité dans le processus de professionnalisation initiale des enseignants de FLE. À cette fin, l'étude redéfinit dans un premier temps les objectifs d'une telle pratique dans le cadre de la formation des enseignants puis présente cette activité dans le contexte des cours de langue étrangère des Mentions FLE. Dans un deuxième temps, elle circonscrit sa place et son rôle au sein d'un dispositif d'observations formatives visant à développer chez les étudiants la mise en place d'une posture réflexive. Après avoir été présentée dans un contexte spécifique de formation, la pratique du journal de bord est abordée de façon plus large. Elle se trouve en effet resituée dans l'univers de la didactique des langues (historique et méthodologie) puis dans le champ des démarches biographiques en éducation et en formation professionnelle. L'étude s'appuie ensuite sur un corpus composé d'une cinquantaine de journaux de bord d'apprentissage rédigés par des étudiants des cours d'arabe, de japonais et de tchèque de la Mention FLE. À partir d'une analyse des données en contexte et à l'aide des outils de l'analyse du discours et de la pragmatique, on s'interroge sur l'influence du contexte universitaire sur la production des journaux de bord d'apprentissage et sur le type d'objet textuel que construisent les étudiants, à la croisée des genres académiques scolaires et universitaires et des genres littéraires de l'écriture du moi. On essaie également de montrer comment, dans le contexte spécifique qui nous intéresse, le journal de bord d'apprentissage apparaît aussi comme un objet communicationnel et comme un lieu où se construit une relation interpersonnelle entre le scripteur et son lecteur. La recherche met enfin les outils de l'analyse du discours et de l'analyse de contenu au service de la didactique et de la formation professionnelle des enseignants. Elle tente en effet de mettre au jour la façon dont se dessine, à la rencontre des modèles préexistants, des représentations, des modèles de formation pédagogique et du discours explicite tenu dans le lieu de formation, le répertoire didactique des futurs enseignants. Faisant suite à l'analyse du corpus et dans une perspective de recherche-action, quelques pistes de réflexions et quelques propositions pour l'organisation, la rédaction, l'évaluation et l'exploitation des journaux d'apprentissage en contexte de formation universitaire sont envisagées. "In a learner's diary as it exists in different types of language instruction training, students have to note down their learning experience of a new language. It is to this complex, diverse and textual object that this study is devoted. The research is devoted more particularly to the keeping of a learner's diary as it is organised within the framework of professional teacher training for FFL (French as a Foreign Language), and specifically within the context of FFL training at the new Paris III-Sorbonne University. Its primary aim is to help define exactly what a learner's diary is, at a "macro" level with a historical and generic perspective, and at a "micro" level in its textual and discursive reality. With this intention, the study begins by redefining the objectives of such a practice within the framework of FFL teacher training and then repositions this activity in the context of foreign language lessons of FFL Mentions. Finally it fixes the place and role of the learner's diary within a mechanism of training observations aimed at developing a systematically reflexive attitude in students. After having been presented in a specific training context, the practice of keeping a learner's diary is considered from a wider angle. It is in fact repositioned within the fields of language didactics (history and methodology), and then in the domain of a biographical process in education and professional training. The study is then based on a corpus made up of about fifty learners' diaries written by students in Japanese, Arabic and Czech classes of the FFL Mention. .

The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) together with the Electronic Library eLibrary.ru has proposed an Academic rating of scientific journals from a limited collection, which includes about 700 journals. Using the example of a rating of journals compiled by the impact factor in the thematic section “Mathematics”, the methodological errors made in the selection of the reference group of journals are shown. It is concluded that the Academic rating has significant distortions associated with the thematic heterogeneity (multidisciplinary) of journals in reference groups formed on the basis of the existing classifier. The rating indicators are influenced by articles that are not related to the topic of the rating. We believe that an alternative technology for forming reference groups “from the bottom up” is a more reliable basis for thematic ratings. The bottom-up technology reveals the thematic proximity of journal articles based on the analysis of their bibliographic references, launching the clustering process. The thematic proximity of journals can be expressed in numerical form and further serve as the basis for the formation of reference groups for the thematic rating. A carefully constructed reference group is the key to the adequacy of the thematic rating of journals.

In this work, molecular models were obtained, and the reactivity parameters of ε-caprolactam and ophenanthroline were calculated to evaluate the interaction in the formation of complex molecular compounds. It was observed that the main electron donor atoms, in the formation of the metal-ligand bond, are centered mainly on the oxygen and nitrogen atoms, respectively, which are sterically more favorable in these species. Conductance measurements in an aqueous solution were obtained to observe the electrolytic behavior of these compounds. Infrared spectra were also recorded to characterize vibrational transitions in identifying these species when present in complex systems. Molecular spectra of absorption in the UV-visible region were recorded to evaluate the spectrochemical properties of these individual ligands and further verify their influence on the formation of complex molecular systems. The parameters evaluated include the molar absorptivity ε, integrated absorption coefficient, oscillator force, and transition dipole moment. It was observed that the ε parameter indicates molecular transitions in the 190 – 300 nm region and the near-infrared, and the oscillator strength is typical of molecules used as dyes and sensitizers for optical light-emitting systems or light-to-electricity converters.

The article deals with the problem of the use of electronic open journal systems in scientific and pedagogical research as well as the formation of ICT competence of researchers on the use of such systems. The concepts of electronic journal system (EJS) are considered. The most common kinds of electronic journal systems are revealed (proprietary, local (in-house), open and cloud journal systems). The criteria for accessing the effectiveness of the electronic open journal systems (EOJS) use in scientific and pedagogical research are described (normative, organizational and communication, effective), as well as their indicators. The organizational and pedagogical model of EOJS use in scientific and pedagogical researches is developed. The definition of "ICT competence of researchers on the use of EOJS in scientific and pedagogical research" is provided; its components are described; criteria (axiological, cognitive, praxeological, adaptive) and indicators of its formation are defined. The model of formation of this competence is provided. The main stages of the experimental process (2010–2018) are described. The results of the formation of ICT-competence of researchers and information-analytical monitoring of the scientific journals of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine are presented.

For the first time, one of the popular children’s magazines of the Western Ukrainian Diaspora “Young Friends” became the subject of research. Founded in March 1955, it ceased to exist in 1984. There is no complete filing of this newspaper in any book collection of Ukraine, it has not been digitized yet, the editorial office did not have a site. For this reason, the author conducted a study of this journal in the library-archive of the Union of Ukrainians in Great Britain (UUB) in London. The peculiarities of journal formation and the specifics of the editorial policy are clarified. The experience of publishing a Ukrainian children’s magazine abroad for a long time (in color and on chalk paper) without any financial support from the state, but only by public money, is quite instructive for the current situation in Ukraine when children’s periodicals have almost disappeared from the national information space due to indifferent contemplation of the state.

One of the leading Western Ukrainian diaspora journals – London «Liberation Way», founded in January 1949, has become the subject of the study for the first time in journalism. Archival documents and materials of the Ukrainian Publishing Union in London and the British National Library (British Library) were also observed. The peculiarities of the magazine’s formation and the specifics of the editorial policy, founders and publishers are clarified. A group of OUN members who survived Hitler’s concentration camps and ended up in Great Britain after the end of World War II initiated the foundation of the magazine. Until April 1951, including issue 42, the Board of Foreign Parts of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists were the publishers of the magazine. From 1951 to the beginning of 2000 it was a socio-political monthly of the Ukrainian Publishing Union. From the mid-60’s of the twentieth century – a socio-political and scientific-literary monthly. In analyzing the programmatic principles of the magazine, the most acute issues of the Ukrainian national liberation movement, which have long separated the forces of Ukrainian emigration and from which the founders and publishers of the magazine from the beginning had clearly defined positions, namely: ideology of Ukrainian nationalism, the idea of unity of Ukraine and Ukrainians, internal inter-party struggle among Ukrainian emigrants have been singled out. The review and systematization of the thematic palette of the magazine’s publications makes it possible to distinguish the following main semantic accents: the formation of the nationalist movement in exile; historical Ukrainian themes; the situation in sub-Soviet Ukraine; the problem of the unity of Ukrainians in the Western diaspora; mission and tasks of Ukrainian emigration in the context of its responsibilities to the Motherland. At their most basic level taxes carry, in the words of Schumpeter ([1918] 1991), “the thunder of history” (p. 101). They say something about the ever-changing structures of social, economic, and political life. Taxes offer a blueprint, in both symbolic and concrete terms, for uncovering the most fundamental arrangements in society – stratification included. The historical retellings captured within these data highlight the politics of taxation in Alabama from 1856 to 1901, including conflicts over whom money is expended upon as well as struggles over who carries their fair share of the tax burden. The selected timeline overlaps with the formation of five of six constitutions adopted in the State of Alabama, including 1861, 1865, 1868, 1875, and 1901. Having these years as the focal point makes for an especially meaningful case study, given how much these constitutional formations made the state a site for much political debate. These data contain 5,121 pages of periodicals from newspapers throughout the state, including: Alabama Sentinel, Alabama State Intelligencer, Alabama State Journal, Athens Herald, Daily Alabama Journal, Daily Confederation, Elyton Herald, Mobile Daily Tribune, Mobile Tribune, Mobile Weekly Tribune, Morning Herald, Nationalist, New Era, Observer, Tuscaloosa Observer, Tuskegee News, Universalist Herald, and Wilcox News and Pacificator. The contemporary relevance of these historical debates manifests in Alabama’s current constitution which was adopted in 1901. This constitution departs from well-established conventions of treating the document as a legal framework that specifies a general role of governance but is firm enough to protect the civil rights and liberties of the population. Instead, it stands more as a legislative document, or procedural straightjacket, that preempts through statutory material what regulatory action is possible by the state. These barriers included a refusal to establish a state board of education and enact a tax structure for local education in addition to debt and tax limitations that constrained government capacity more broadly. Prohibitive features like these are among the reasons that, by 2020, the 1901 Constitution has been amended nearly 1,000 times since its adoption. In this article we study how the demand and supply of information about inflation affect inflation developments. As a proxy for the demand of information, we extract Google Trends (GT) for keywords such as "inflation", "inflation rate", or "price increase". The rationale is that when agents are more interested about inflation, they should search for information about it, and Google is by now a natural source. As a proxy for the supply of information about inflation, we instead use an indicator based on a (standardized) count of the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) articles containing the word "inflat" in their title. We find that measures of demand (GT) and supply (WSJ) of inflation information have a relevant role to understand and predict actual inflation developments, with the more granular information improving expectation formation, especially so during periods when inflation is very high or low. In particular, the full information rational expectation hypothesis is rejected, suggesting that some informational rigidities exist and are waiting to be exploited. Contrary to the existing evidence, we conclude that the media communication and agents attention do play an important role for aggregate inflation expectations, and this remains valid also when controlling for FED communications.

The worldwide market for ornamental saltwater invertebrates supplies the needs of millions of aquarium hobbyists, public exhibitions (i.e., zoos) universities and research institutions. With respect to reef building corals, it is estimated that more than half a million coral colonies/year from a total 93 genera, were exported globally during the period of 1985-1997. International value of retail sale of live coral trade alone is estimated as $78 million in 1997 (not including the illegally, widely smuggled material). The continuous, large-scale collection of marine organisms is responsible, in many places, for the destruction of coral reefs. The expected expansion of the trade further threatens these fragile habitats. While no true captive-bred corals are commercially available, our long-term goal is to develop ex situ inland farming of coral colonies that will circumvent the need for in situ collections and will provide domesticated specimens for the trade and for research. We simultaneously studied two model branching coral species, Stylophora pistillata (Pocilloporidae; in Israel) and Porites (Poritidae; in the US). The proposal included three specific aims: (a) To develop protocols for nubbins (small fragments, down to the size of a single polyp) usage in coral farming;(b) To address the significance of colony pattern formation to the coral trade; and (c) To develop the protocols of using nubbins in physiological and ecotoxicological assays (using oil dispersants, the expression of the stress protein HSP-70, household detergents, etc.). Ten scientific publications (published manuscripts, accepted for publications, submitted to scientific journals, in preparation), revealing results that were related to all three specific aims, originated from this BARD proposal. As a result of the work supported by the BARD, we have now, in hand, original and improved protocols for coral maintenance ex situ, proven expertise on manipulating coral colonies’ pattern formation and biological knowledge on island mariculture of reef corals (from Hawaii and from the Red Sea) amenable for the ornamental trade (for public and private aquaria use, for experimentation). At least one Israeli company (Red Sea Corals, Ltd., KibbutzSaar) is using our methodologies for further developing this new mariculture sector. We are now in the process of introducing the rationale and methodologies to Hawaiian private entities to expand dissemination of the research outcomes.

More than 60% of plant viruses are positive-strand RNA viruses that cause billion-dollar losses annually and pose a major threat to stable agricultural production, including cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) that infects numerous vegetables and ornamental trees. A highly conserved feature among these viruses is that they form viral replication complexes (VRCs) to multiply their genomes by hijacking host proteins and remodeling host intracellular membranes. As a conserved and indispensable process, VRC assembly also represents an excellent target for the development of antiviral strategies that can be used to control a wide-range of viruses. Using CMV and a model virus, brome mosaic virus (BMV), and relying on genomic tools and tailor-made large-scale resources specific for the project, our original objectives were to: 1) Identify host proteins that are required for viral replication complex assembly. 2) Dissect host requirements that determine viral host range. 3) Provide proof-of-concept evidence of a viral control strategy by blocking the viral replication complex-localized phospholipid synthesis. We expect to provide new ways and new concepts to control multiple viruses by targeting a conserved feature among positive-strand RNA viruses based on our results. Our work is going according to the expected timeline and we are progressing well on all aims. For Objective 1, among ~6,000 yeast genes, we have identified 96 hits that were possibly play critical roles in viral replication. These hits are involved in cellular pathways of 1) Phospholipid synthesis; 2) Membrane-shaping; 3) Sterol synthesis and transport; 4) Protein transport; 5) Protein modification, among many others. We are pursuing several genes involved in lipid metabolism and transport because cellular membranes are primarily composed of lipids and lipid compositional changes affect VRC formation and functions. For Objective 2, we have found that CPR5 proteins from monocotyledon plants promoted BMV replication while those from dicotyledon plants inhibited it, providing direct evidence that CPR5 protein determines the host range of BMV. We are currently examining the mechanisms by which dicot CPR5 genes inhibit BMV replication and expressing the dicot CPR5 genes in monocot plants to control BMV infection. For Objective 3, we have demonstrated that substitutions in a host gene involved in lipid synthesis, CHO2, prevented the VRC formation by directing BMV replication protein 1a (BMV 1a), which remodels the nuclear membrane to form VRCs, away from the nuclear membrane, and thus, no VRCs were formed. This has been reported in Journal of Biological Chemistry. Based on the results from Objective 3, we have extended our plan to demonstrate that an amphipathic alpha-helix in BMV 1a is necessary and sufficient to target BMV 1a to the nuclear membrane. We further found that the counterparts of the BMV 1a helix from a group of viruses in the alphavirus-like superfamily, such as CMV, hepatitis E virus, and Rubella virus, are sufficient to target VRCs to the designated membranes, revealing a conserved feature among the superfamily. A joint manuscript describing these exciting results and authored by the two labs will be submitted shortly. We have also successfully set up systems in tomato plants: 1) to efficiently knock down gene expression via virus-induced gene silencing so we could test effects of lacking a host gene(s) on CMV replication; 2) to overexpress any gene transiently from a mild virus (potato virus X) so we could test effects of the overexpressed gene(s) on CMV replication. In summary, we have made promising progress in all three Objectives. We have identified multiple new host proteins that are involved in VRC formation and may serve as good targets to develop antiviral strategies; have confirmed that CPR5 from dicot plants inhibited viral infection and are generating BMV-resistance rice and wheat crops by overexpressing dicot CPR5 genes; have demonstrated to block viral replication by preventing viral replication protein from targeting to the designated organelle membranes for the VRC formation and this concept can be further employed for virus control. The subject of the study is the cooperation of S. Efremov with Western Ukrainian periodicals as a page in the history of Ukrainian journalism which covers the relationship of journalists and scientists of Eastern and Western Ukraine at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Research methods (biographical, historical, comparative, axiological, statistical, discursive) develop the comprehensive disclosure of the article. As a result of scientific research, the origins of Ukrainocentrism in the personality of S. Efremov were clarified; his person as a public figure, journalist, publisher, literary critic is multifaceted; taking into account the specifics of the memoir genre and with the involvement of the historical context, the turning points in the destiny of the author of memoirs are interpreted, revealing cooperation with Western Ukrainian magazines and newspapers. The publications ‘Zoria’, ‘Narod’, ‘Pravda’, ‘Bukovyna’, ‘Dzvinok’, are secretly got into sub-Russian Ukraine, became for S. Efremov a spiritual basis in understanding the specifics of the national (Ukrainian) mass media, ideas of education in culture of Ukraine at the end of XIX century, its territorial integrity, and state independence. Memoirs of S. Efremov on cooperation with the iconic Galician journals ‘Notes of the Scientific Society after the name Shevchenko’ and ‘Literary-Scientific Bulletin’, testify to an important stage in the formation of the author’s worldview, the expansion of the genre boundaries of his journalism, active development as a literary critic. S. Yefremov collaborated most fruitfully and for a long time with the Literary-Scientific Bulletin, and he was impressed by the democratic position of this publication. The author’s comments reveal a long-running controversy over the publication of a review of the new edition of Kobzar and thematically related discussions around his other literary criticism, in which the talent of the demanding critic was forged. S. Efremov steadfastly defended the main principles of literary criticism: objectivity and freedom of author’s thought. The names of the allies of the Ukrainian idea L. Skochkovskyi, O. Lototskyi, O. Konyskyi, P. Zhytskyi, M. Hrushevskyi in S. Efremov’s memoirs unfold in multifaceted portrait descriptions and function as historical and cultural facts that document the pages of the author’s biography, record his activities in space and time. The results of the study give grounds to characterize S. Efremov as the first professional Ukrainian-speaking journalist.

The article clarifies of gender identity stereotypes in modern media. The main gender stereotypes covered in modern mass media are analyzed and refuted. The model of gender relations in the media is reflected mainly in the stereotypical images of men and woman. The features of the use of gender concepts in modern periodicals for women and men were determined. The most frequently used derivatives of these macroconcepts were identified and analyzed in detail. It has been found that publications for women and men are full of various gender concepts that are used in different contexts. Ingeneral, theanalysisofthe concept-maximums and concept-minimum gender and their characteristics is carried out in the context of gender stereotypes that have been forme dand function in the society, system atizing the a ctual presentations. The study of the gender concept is relevant because it reveals new trends and features of modern gender images. Taking into account the special features of gender-labeled periodicals in general and the practical absence of comprehensive scientific studies of the gender concept in particular, there is a need to supplement Ukrainian science with this topic. Gender psychology, which is served by methods of various sciences, primarily sociological, pedagogical, linguistic, psychological, socio-psychological. Let us pay attention to linguistic and psycholinguistic methods in gender studies. Linguistic methods complement intelligence research tasks, associated with speech, word and text. Psycholinguistic methods used in gender psychology (semantic differential, semantic integral, semantic analysis of words and texts), aimed at studying speech messages, specific mechanisms of origin and perception, functions of speech activity in society, studying the relationship between speech messages and gender properties participants in the communication, to analyze the linguistic development in connection with the general development of the individual. Nowhere in gender practice there is the whole arsenal of psychological methods that allow you to explore psychological peculiarities of a person like observation, experiments, questionnaires, interviews, testing, modeling, etc. The methods of psychological self-diagnostics include: the gender aspect of the own socio-psychological portrait, a gender biography as a variant of the biographical method, aimed at the reconstruction of individual social experience. In the process of writing a gender autobiography, a person can understand the characteristics of his gender identity, as well as ways and means of their formation. Socio-psychological methods of studying gender include the study of socially constructed women’s and men’s roles, relationships and identities, sexual characteristics, psychological characteristics, etc. The use of gender indicators and gender approaches as a means of socio-psychological and sociological analysis broadens the subject boundaries of these disciplines and makes them the subject of study within these disciplines. And also, in the article a combination of concrete-historical, structural-typological, system-functional methods is implemented. Descriptive and comparative methods, method of typology, modeling are used. Also used is a method of content analysis for the study of gender content of modern gender-stamped journals. It was he who allowed quantitatively to identify and explore the features of the gender concept in the pages of periodicals for women and men. A combination of historical, structural-typological, system-functional methods is also implemented in the article. Descriptive and comparative methods, method of typology, modeling are used. A method of content analysis for the study of gender content of modern gender-labeled journals is also used. It allowed to identify and explore the features of the gender concept quantitatively in the periodicals for women and men. The conceptual perception and interpretation of the gender concept «woman», which is highlighted in the modern gender-labeled press in Ukraine, requires the elaboration of the polyfunctionality of gender interpretations, the comprehension of the metaphorical perception of this image and its role and purpose in society. A gendered approach to researching the gender content of contemporary periodicals for women and men. Conceptual analysis of contemporary gender-stamped publications within the gender conceptual sphere allows to identify and correlate the meta-gender and gender concepts that appear in society.
