Анотація:
Existence of some holes at internal ribs enhances the function and value of the tubes. A new extrusion method is proposed here for the forming of this shape by extrusion with joining. The method involves the use of a unique mandrel that has a slit along its axis and two guides at the slit exit. A holed sheet is fed through the slit and joined with the inner surface of extrude tube. Effect of two parameters, that are tube-wall thickness and guide position h which is distance from guide top to die surface were clarified by FEA. Two kinds of three-dimensional analysis models were prepared. One of the analysis models treats the rib as rigid body to examine a gap between rib and tube. Another model treats the rib as the elasto-plasticity body as well as the billet to examine the effect of the guide position and the tube wall thickness on the rib deformation. The series of analyses was carried out with emphasis on the metal flow. The gap between tube and rib is able to be suppressed small and joining condition becomes satisfactory when guide position rose or tube wall was thin. When the guide position rose further, or the tube wall thickness was excessively thinner, the amount of the deformation of the rib increases, and it causes defects.

Abstract Objective: We present a magnetic resonance imaging-directed stereotactic system using implantable guide tubes for targeting deep brain nuclei in functional neurosurgery. Methods: Our method relies on visualization of the deep brain nuclei on high-resolution magnetic resonance images that delineate the target boundaries and enable direct targeting of specific regions of the nucleus. The delivery system comprises a modified stereoguide capable of delivering an implantable guide tube to the vicinity of the desired target. The guide tube (in-house investigational device) has a hub at its proximal end that is fixed within a burr hole and accommodates a radioopaque stylette that is inserted such that its distal end is at the desired target. After perioperative radiological confirmation of the stylette's relationship to the desired brain target, it is withdrawn from the guide tube, which may then act as a port for the implantation of an electrode for deep brain stimulation (DBS) or radiofrequency lesioning. Alternatively, the guide tube can be used to insert a catheter for drug delivery, cell transplantation, or viral-vector delivery. Implantation and verification are guided by magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography, which enable the entire procedure to be performed under general anesthesia. The technique of implantation helps ensure optimal accuracy, and we have successfully used this device for implanting electrodes for DBS in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, and dystonia, and for implanting catheters for continuous delivery of glial-derived neurotrophic factor in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The device also aids in securely fixing the DBS electrode or catheter to the cranium with ease, limiting hardware problems. Results: A total of 205 guide tubes have been implanted in 101 patients. Major complications in these cases were limited to 4% of patients. At the initial implantations, 96.3% of the guide tubes were within 1.5 mm of the target. Ten guide tubes required reimplantation secondary to target errors. With corrections, the DBS electrode was delivered to within 1.5 mm from the planned target in all cases. Conclusion: This system provides a safe and accurate magnetic resonance imaging-directed system for targeting deep brain nuclei in functional neurosurgery under general anesthesia and avoids the need for electrophysiological monitoring.

BackgroundLung complications occur in 0.5% of the millions of blind tube placements. This represents a major health burden. Use of a Kangaroo feeding tubes with an ‘integrated real-time imaging system’ (‘IRIS’ tube) may pre-empt such complications. We aimed to produce a preliminary operator guide to IRIS tube placement and interpretation of position.MethodsIn a single centre, IRIS tubes were prospectively placed in intensive care unit patients. Characteristics of tube placement and visualised anatomy were recorded in each organ to produce a guide.ResultsOf 45 patients having one tube placement, 3 were aborted due to refusal (n=1) or inability to enter the oesophagus (n=2). Of 43 tubes placed beyond 30 cm, 12 (28%) initially entered the respiratory tract but all were withdrawn before reaching the main carina. We identified anatomical markers for the nasal or oral cavity (97.8%), respiratory tract (100%), oesophagus (97.6%), stomach (100%) and intestine (100%). Organ differentiation was possible in 100%: trachea-oesophagus, oesophagus-stomach and stomach-intestine. Gastric tube position was confirmed by aspiration of fluid with a pH <4.0 and/ or X-ray. Trauma was avoided in 13.6% by identifying that the tube remained in the nasal lumen in the presence of a base of skull fracture (n=3) and in the stomach in the presence of recently bleeding polyps or mucosa (n=3). A systematic guide was produced from records of tube placement and interpretation of anatomical images.ConclusionBy permitting real-time confirmation of tube position, direct vision may reduce risk of lung complications. The preliminary operator guide requires validation in larger studies.

More than 2 million tympanostomy tubes are placed annually in the United States, primarily in children with chronic or recurrent otitis media refractory to nonsurgical management (J.S. Reilly, personal communication, 1994). Traditionally, the operating otolaryngologist has had the responsibility of caring for these patients, including: confirming middle ear disease, assuring tube patency, controlling refractory otorrhea, and managing complications such as tympanic membrane perforation or cholesteatoma. In response to pressures from a changing health care system, pediatricians are less able to refer children back to the otolaryngologist for routine tube surveillance, and must therefore perform it themselves, often with incomplete instrumentation and training. An approach is presented here for the care of the child with tympanostomy tubes based on the authors' combined experience with thousands of intubated children, and on available information from the pediatric and otolaryngic literature. With appropriate postoperative surveillance and follow-up care, the morbidity from tympanostomy tubes can be minimized. Although there are other ways of achieving the same goals, these time-honored methods are safe and effective. Because this is a visual guide, photographs are liberally interspersed to clarify and reinforce the written material. NORMAL TUBE APPEARANCE There are hundreds of different tube designs and materials and at least five different potential insertion sites in the tympanic membrane. This bewildering array of devices can be reduced to two general types: short-term tubes (intended to remain in the eardrum for 8 to 15 months) and long-term tubes (intended to remain in the eardrum &gt; 15 months) (Fig 1A and B).

Ce mémoire porte sur la modélisation et la simulation non-stationnaires de l'interaction entre le faisceau d'électrons et l'onde électromagnétique dans les tubes à onde progressives (TOP) à hélice. Le TOP étant un instrument sur-dimensionné, les modèles non-stationnaires généraux sur lesquels se basent la plupart des logiciels commerciaux nécessitent de trop grosses ressources de calcul pour pouvoir être utilisés en un temps raisonnable pour des activités de conception industrielle. Il est donc nécessaire de faire appel à des modèles dits 'spécialisés'. Cette thèse porte sur le modèle discret non-stationnaire d'excitation d'un guide d'onde périodique de S. Kuznetsov. Avant nos travaux, il avait été démontré (N. Ryskin et al., 2007) que ce modèle pouvait s'appliquer aux TOP à cavités couplées dans le cadre d'un modèle à une dimension. Néanmoins, il n'existait alors aucune étude venant confirmer ou infirmer son application aux TOP à hélice. Lors de cette thèse, nous avons démontré, via le développement d'un code à une dimension (HelL-1D), que le modèle discret s'applique convenablement aux TOP à hélice. L'utilisation de ce modèle dans un code à deux dimensions (HelL-2D) a, elle aussi, été effectuée. Enfin, nous avons développé une méthode permettant de contrôler quantitativement les réflexions d'onde aux extrémités de la ligne à retard dans le modèle discret. Cette dernière étude constitue une avancée importante vers la simulation pratique des TOP en utilisant le modèle discret.

This thesis deals with the measurement of light tubes efficiency in laboratory conditions during lighting by almost direct light rays. It also deals with the measurement of the spectral reflectance of the reflective materials available on the Czech market. The comparison of the efficiency of different light routes and also the determination of the spectral qualities of different reflective materials are the aims of this thesis. The light tubes were measured by means of the cubic integrator. The light source was moved and manoeuvred by means of the automatic goniophotometer. The light source flow was determined by the method of the zonal flows. The data were calculated in the Matlab programme. The evaluation is both in the graphic and in the numeric forms. The result of the thesis is both the comparison of the reflective materials for light tubes qualities, and the evaluation of efficiency of the assigned light routes. The optimal variant can be then selected during designing of the light tubes route according to the results of the measurements.

L'efficacité croissante dans le domaine des basses fréquences des moyens de détection des cibles sous-marines implique une amélioration des matériaux d'isolement ou de découplage. Cette amélioration passe par la connaissance précise des caractéristiques acoustiques des matériaux employés. Dans ce contexte, l'objet de ce mémoire est la mise au point d'une méthode de caractérisation de ces matériaux utilisable à la pression atmosphérique mais susceptible d'être transposée à quelques dizaines de bars. Pour cela, un tube d'acier rempli d'eau et fermé à chacune de ses extrémités par un transducteur est utilisé. Le transducteur dit récepteur est commandé en tension afin d'établir un système d'ondes progressives. Selon les caractéristiques recherchées, l'échantillon est soit placé au milieu du tube, soit collé sur le pavillon d'un des deux transducteurs. Les paramètres obtenus, dans une gamme de fréquence s'étendant de 500 hz a 3000 hz, sont respectivement les coefficients de réflexion et de transmission ou les coefficients de masquage et d'anechoicite. Le principal matériau étudié dans ce mémoire est le microvon. C'est un matériau viscoélastique utilisé principalement comme matériau de masquage ou comme réflecteur mou. Les mesures du coefficient de masquage de ce matériau sont tout d'abord présentées. Ces mesures sont comparées aux mesures réalisées à la dcn/toulon. Un bon accord est trouvé. Les mesures du coefficient d'anechoicite sont présentées à la suite. Puis l'échantillon est déplacé au milieu du tube pour les mesures des coefficients de réflexion et de transmission. Dans cette position, la mesure de la fonction de transfert de l'échantillon permet de calculer l'ensemble des coefficients décrits dans ce mémoire. En conclusion, plusieurs extensions de la méthode sont envisagées.

La méthode privilégiée d'alimentation des machines à fusion est l'utilisation de glaçons de D et/ou T injectés dans le plasma. Ils sont utilisés actuellement, mais les résultats ne sont pas extrapolables aux futures machines de plus grande taille où le design du système d'injection et la construction de scenarii seront surtout basés sur les simulations. II est donc important de combler les vides dans les modèles existants allant de la fabrication des glaçons au dépôt de matière dans le plasma. Deux manques apparaissent : la modélisation du transport du glaçon dans le tuyau d'injection et la validation du processus d'ablation. Ce travail vise à combler ces vides et comporte 3 parties.- Décrire la physique du dépôt de matière, puis l'état de l'art des principaux résultats et enfin la description des systèmes d'injection de glaçons prévus pour les prochaines machines.- Modéliser le transport du glaçon dans le tuyau d'injection. Les effets pris en compte dans le modèle sont la fragilisation de la glace lors des rebonds, l'augmentation de sa température et son érosion. Le modèle donne notamment le ralentissement et la perte de masse du glaçon au cours du trajet, ainsi que l'énergie élastique stockée lié à son intégrité au sortir du tube.- Contribuer à la validation du code d'ablation HPI2, en comparant ses prédictions aux données mesurées dans les nuages d'ablation. La méthode utilisée est un calcul de jeu de données synthétiques à partir des simulations et en les comparant aux mesures. The preferred method of fueling fusion device is the use of D and/or T pellets injected into the plasma. They are currently used, but the results cannot be extrapolated to future larger reactors where the design of the injection system and the construction of scenarios will be mainly based on simulations. It is therefore important to fill in the gaps in the existing models from the manufacture of pellets to the deposition of material in the plasma. Two lacks of knowledge appear: the modeling of the pellet transport in the injection pipe and the validation of the ablation process. This work aims to fill these gaps and consists of 3 parts.- Describe the physics of material deposition, then the state of the art of the main results and finally the description of the pellet injection systems planned for the next machines.- Model the transport of the pellet in the injection pipe. The effects taken into account in the model are the weakening of the ice during rebounds, the increase in its temperature and its erosion. The model gives in particular the slowing down and the loss of mass of the pellet during the journey, as well as the stored elastic energy linked to its integrity on leaving the tube.- Contribute to the validation of the HPI2 ablation code, by comparing its predictions to data measured in ablation clouds. The method used is a calculation of synthetic data sets from simulations and comparing them to measurements. This method made it possible to validate the assumptions and approximations of the ablation model

Dans cette thèse est étudié le problème de la propagation des énergies vibratoire et acoustique dans les tuyaux. L'étude commence par la présentation de théories des coques générales en notation tensorielle. Les théories des coques cylindriques de Flügge et de Flügge-Timoshenko sont utilisées pour décrire le comportement vibratoire de la paroi du tuyau. La théorie de Flügge-Timoshenko inclut les effets de cisaillement et d'inertie de rotation. Le fluide à l'intérieur du tuyau est supposé acoustique et son comportement est modélisé par l'équation d'ondes dans le repère cylindrique. Le couplage entre la paroi et le fluide interne est pris en compte. Les ondes élastiques qui se propagent dans la paroi du tuyau et celles acoustiques dans le fluide interne parcourent le tuyau dans le sens axial sous forme d'ondes libres, évanescentes et atténuées. L'énergie nette totale transférée dans le tuyau est constitué de la contribution vibratoire et acoustique. Chaque contribution est due à l'interaction des ondes libres d'une part et à l'interaction des ondes évanescentes d'autre part. L'effet de l'interaction des ondes atténuées n'est pas un transfert d'énergie nette mais une formation d'ondes évanescentes stationnaires. En raison du couplage entre la paroi le fluide interne, le flux total d'énergie nette peut être exprimé en termes de déplacements de la paroi. Ceci permet le développement des techniques expérimentales pour déterminer le flux total par la mesure des grandeurs vibratoires sur la paroi. Les résultats des essais réalisés en laboratoire et sur la tuyauterie d'un compresseur frigorifique sont présentés

Abstract Based on the composition of CZ1 alloy and CZ2 alloy, guide tubes were fabricated. The performance of CZ1 and CZ2 alloy guide tube was studied. Through microscopic observation, it can be seen that the CZ alloy guide tube has a completely recrystallized structure with fine grains and dispersed second phase particles. Autoclave Corrosion test shows that the corrosion resistance of CZ1 and CZ2 alloy in pure water at 360°C is better than recrystallized Zr-4 alloy and Zr-1Sn-1Nb alloy tubes, and the corrosion resistance of CZ1 alloy in steam at 400°C is similar to recrystallized Zr-4 alloy and better than CZ2 and recrystallized Zr-1Sn-1Nb alloy. The mechanical test shows that the yield strength and tensile strength of CZ alloy are equal to or slightly higher than recrystallized Zr-4 alloy and Zr-1Sn-1Nb alloy at room temperature and elevated temperature. The out-pile axial creep tests show that the creep deformation of various alloys are very small for low stress (60MPa) conditions, and the axial creep resistance of CZ alloy is better than that of recrystallized Zr-4 alloy and inferior to recrystallized Zr-1Sn-1Nb alloy for high stress (&gt; 100MPa) conditions. According to the comprehensive evaluation of the out-pile test results, CZ alloy guide tube has excellent out-pile performance, and CZ alloys have the prospect of being used as guide tube material.

The guide tube (GT) representation in the reactor-internal system model has been crude and inaccurate in the past because the lack of experimental data on a) the rotary stiffness of the hold down bolt joint and b) the rotary stiffness of the support pins. In addition, the slotted enclosure and the complex interior in the continuous section further complicated the modeling accuracy. In this paper, the static and dynamic characteristic of the domestically manufactured CAP1000 guide tubes are studied both experimentally and analytically. Using the stiffness data obtained from the tests and combined with the enclosure stiffness calculated from the detailed 3D finite element models, i.e., one for the intermediate section and one for the continuous section, a simplified model of the GT was established. Using the simplified model, the dynamic characteristics (natural frequency and modal shapes) were compared to the dynamic test results in the aerial condition. It can be concluded that the simplified guide tube model is believed to be the most accurate one, by far, to be used in reactor-internal system analyses.

At scrum in case of an earthquake, the control rod is detached and it sits on the seating structure in the control rod guide tube (Fig.1). In a vertical earthquake, the control rod guide tube is raised from the core support plate, and the control rod is also raised from the control rod guide tube. Therefore, drawing out may arise. During the earthquake after scrum, the rising behavior is different from the other core elements because the control rod and the control rod guide tube rise interfering each other. The control rod guide tube is raised more easily than the fuel assembly by the vertical differential pressure of the core during operation, because the control rod guide tube is lighter than the fuel assembly. Therefore, it is necessary to restrain the rising of the control rod guide tube. The sleeve dashpot structure, in which a sleeve is attached on the upper surface of the receptacle tube, is employed. Moreover, the control rod guide tube is equipped with the control rod dashpot in order to restrain the rising displacement of the control rod. This paper summarizes the analysis method of the rising behavior of the single control rod guide tube and the rising behavior of the control rod and the control guide tube after the control rod is inserted.

The seismic evaluation of the control rod guide tube is performed in operating condition (the coolant is flowing upward); that of the control rod assembly (the control rod guide tube and the control rod) is performed in shutdown condition (the coolant is not flowing). Seismic experiments were performed using a full-scale model of the control rod guide tube and the control rod, vertical excitation and water instead of liquid sodium in the actual plant, to verify the analysis method and to demonstrate the rising restraining effect of the sleeve dashpot and the control rod dashpot. In this study, the rising behavior of the control rod guide tube and the control rod was investigated. The effect of restraining rising by the sleeve dashpot and by the control rod dashpot was confirmed.

The bi-layer poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) guide tube for peripheral nerve regeneration was developed by electrospinning method to enhance axonal extension. The inner layer of the guide tube had unidirectional nanofiber and Ile-Lys-Val-Ala-Val (IKVAV) modified surface. IKVAV modified unidirectional fiber sheets which had different fiber diameters from 400 to 1200 nm were fabricated to optimize fiber diameter of the guide tube for axonal extension. Fiber sheets without the IKVAV were prepared as the control group. PC12 cells seeded on the fiber sheets were cultured for 6 days. Axons were most extended in fiber diameter of 1090 nm with IKVAV and 1160 nm without IKVAV. Maximum axon length increased by about 25% due to IKVAV modification. The bi-layer guide tube which had fiber diameter about 1133 nm was fabricated. It was confirmed that the inner layer had unidirectional fibers and the outer layer had random fibers in the guide tube. CS, which corresponds to radial compressive stiffness, of the guide tube and the sciatic nerve were 230 N/mm2 and 1.64 N/mm2 respectively. Since radial compressive stiffness of the guide tube was higher than that of the sciatic nerve, the developed guide tube was expected to enhance axonal extension without narrowing.

The cracked control rods shafts found in two Swedish NPPs were subjected to thermal fatigue due to mixing of cold purge flow with hot bypass water in the upper part of the top tube on which the control rod guide tubes rests. The interaction between the jets formed at the bypass water inlets is the main source of oscillation resulting in low frequency downward motion of hot bypass water into the cold purge flow. This ultimately causes thermal fatigue in the control rod shaft in the region below the four lower bypass water inlets. The transient analyses shown in this report were done to further investigate this oscillating phenomenon and compare to experimental measurements of water temperatures inside the control rod guide tube. The simulated results show good agreement with experimental data regarding all important variables for the estimation of thermal fatigue such as peak-to-peak temperature range, frequency of oscillation and duration of the temperature peaks. The results presented in this report show that CFD using LES methodology and the open source toolbox OpenFOAM is a viable tool for predicting complex turbulent mixing flows and thermal loads.

Background: Public behaviour and the new hostile threats • Civil contingencies planning and preparedness for hostile threats requires accurate and up to date knowledge about how the public might behave in relation to such incidents. Inaccurate understandings of public behaviour can lead to dangerous and counterproductive practices and policies. • There is consistent evidence across both hostile threats and other kinds of emergencies and disasters that significant numbers of those affected give each other support, cooperate, and otherwise interact socially within the incident itself. • In emergency incidents, competition among those affected occurs in only limited situations, and loss of behavioural control is rare. • Spontaneous cooperation among the public in emergency incidents, based on either social capital or emergent social identity, is a crucial part of civil contingencies planning. • There has been relatively little research on public behaviour in response to the new hostile threats of the past ten years, however. • The programme of work summarized in this briefing document came about in response to a wave of false alarm flight incidents in the 2010s, linked to the new hostile threats (i.e., marauding terrorist attacks). • By using a combination of archive data for incidents in Great Britain 2010-2019, interviews, video data analysis, and controlled experiments using virtual reality technology, we were able to examine experiences, measure behaviour, and test hypotheses about underlying psychological mechanisms in both false alarms and public interventions against a hostile threat. Re-visiting the relationship between false alarms and crowd disasters • The Bethnal Green tube disaster of 1943, in which 173 people died, has historically been used to suggest that (mis)perceived hostile threats can lead to uncontrolled ‘stampedes’. • Re-analysis of witness statements suggests that public fears of Germany bombs were realistic rather than unreasonable, and that flight behaviour was socially structured rather than uncontrolled. • Evidence for a causal link between the flight of the crowd and the fatal crowd collapse is weak at best. • Altogether, the analysis suggests the importance of examining people’s beliefs about context to understand when they might interpret ambiguous signals as a hostile threat, and that. Tthe concepts of norms and relationships offer better ways to explain such incidents than ‘mass panic’. Why false alarms occur • The wider context of terrorist threat provides a framing for the public’s perception of signals as evidence of hostile threats. In particular, the magnitude of recent psychologically relevant terrorist attacks predicts likelihood of false alarm flight incidents. • False alarms in Great Britain are more likely to occur in those towns and cities that have seen genuine terrorist incidents. • False alarms in Great Britain are more likely to occur in the types of location where terrorist attacks happen, such as shopping areass, transport hubs, and other crowded places. • The urgent or flight behaviour of other people (including the emergency services) influences public perceptions that there is a hostile threat, particularly in situations of greater ambiguity, and particularly when these other people are ingroup. • High profile tweets suggesting a hostile threat, including from the police, have been associated with the size and scale of false alarm responses. • In most cases, it is a combination of factors – context, others’ behaviour, communications – that leads people to flee. A false alarm tends not to be sudden or impulsive, and often follows an initial phase of discounting threat – as with many genuine emergencies. 2.4 How the public behave in false alarm flight incidents • Even in those false alarm incidents where there is urgent flight, there are also other behaviours than running, including ignoring the ‘threat’, and walking away. • Injuries occur but recorded injuries are relatively uncommon. • Hiding is a common behaviour. In our evidence, this was facilitated by orders from police and offers from people staff in shops and other premises. • Supportive behaviours are common, including informational and emotional support. • Members of the public often cooperate with the emergency services and comply with their orders but also question instructions when the rationale is unclear. • Pushing, trampling and other competitive behaviour can occur,s but only in restricted situations and briefly. • At the Oxford Street Black Friday 2017 false alarm, rather than an overall sense of unity across the crowd, camaraderie existed only in pockets. This was likely due to the lack of a sense of common fate or reference point across the incident; the fragmented experience would have hindered the development of a shared social identity across the crowd. • Large and high profile false alarm incidents may be associated with significant levels of distress and even humiliation among those members of the public affected, both at the time and in the aftermath, as the rest of society reflects and comments on the incident. Public behaviour in response to visible marauding attackers • Spontaneous, coordinated public responses to marauding bladed attacks have been observed on a number of occasions. • Close examination of marauding bladed attacks suggests that members of the public engage in a wide variety of behaviours, not just flight. • Members of the public responding to marauding bladed attacks adopt a variety of complementary roles. These, that may include defending, communicating, first aid, recruiting others, marshalling, negotiating, risk assessment, and evidence gathering. Recommendations for practitioners and policymakers • Embed the psychology of public behaviour in emergencies in your training and guidance. • Continue to inform the public and promote public awareness where there is an increased threat. • Build long-term relations with the public to achieve trust and influence in emergency preparedness. • Use a unifying language and supportive forms of communication to enhance unity both within the crowd and between the crowd and the authorities. • Authorities and responders should take a reflexive approach to their responses to possible hostile threats, by reflecting upon how their actions might be perceived by the public and impact (positively and negatively) upon public behaviour. • To give emotional support, prioritize informative and actionable risk and crisis communication over emotional reassurances. • Provide first aid kits in transport infrastructures to enable some members of the public more effectively to act as zero responders.

The special concentrically braced frame (SCBF) is an aseismic structure, but its bracing system exhibits brittle failure and premature buckling connected with the weld fracture of the gusset plate and the post-buckling of the braces; thus, maximizing the role of energy dissipation is difficult. Here, this paper proposes a system of double-tube buckling-restrained brace with cast steel connectors for steel SCBFs. The large inelastic deformation of the bracing system is mainly concentrated in the ductile cast connectors under the earthquake, and the degree of buckling and post-buckling of braces can be reduced. Cyclic loading tests were conducted on two groups of specimens with different parameters, then the deformation trend, stress distribution, energy dissipation capacity, and stiffness degradation of the specimens were analyzed. The improved measures of increasing the width–thickness ratio of the energy dissipation plate and stiffener and casting the end right-angle tip tightly for a certain length of cast connector in Group 2 specimens, which overcomes the brittle fracture caused by the crack of the connection segment due to flexural buckling in Group 1 specimen tests, was evaluated. The cast steel connector conducts the main energy dissipation member that exhibits good ductile and energy absorption performance, and the advantages of using improved ductile cast steel connectors to obtain the energy dissipation of BRBs are illustrated. The test results provided direct evidence that the seismic performance of specimens is closely associated with the length of the energy dissipation segment of the cast connector and the overstrength factor of axial force. Also, the strength, rigidity, deformation, and energy dissipation performance of the members can be independently controlled by reasonably designing the cast connector. Our results provide the underlying insights needed to guide the design of the bracing connector.
