Повний текст джерелаOur research project aims to carry out a cross-study of the translation as well the genre of the texts translated from Latin to late medieval French along with Ancient Comedies and dialogues from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries -- a period marked by the multiplication of translations and the emergence of “Comedies”. On the one hand, we specifically intend to analyze the act of translating while assessing, on the other hand, the notion of theatricality or at least the possibility of performing these versified texts that are mostly dialogue-based and which we suggest labeling “dialogues” or “tales to play”. Indeed, from our modern perspective it does not seem relevant/appropriate to follow some generic classifications insofar as the question of medieval theatre whether it be sacred or profane, has already been discussed at length with the plays being listed, categorized and sorted over and over again according to the characteristics discussed by critics under various lights. To address these questions/issues, we have put together a corpus that favors the understanding/apprehension of the translators' various positions (from accuracy to rewriting) and the different styles of “dramatic tales”. Thus, our corpus is made up of the pre-1466 translation of Terence's Andria attributed to Guillaume Rippe (Paris, BnF, NAF 4804) and Eustache Deschamps' Traicté de Getta et d'Amphitrïon mis de latin en françois (Paris, BnF, fr. 840) based on Vital de Blois' Geta dating back, according to our research, to the years 1365-1385. Our work on Traicté de Getta et d'Amphitrïon mis de latin en françois has led us to take an interest in other “dramatic” plays of the 14th century such as “farces”, “versified plays, dits” and “dialogue-based ballads.” We use quotation marks out of caution as at this time the different terminological uses very often replaced one another. Moreover, the reflection on the staging of these texts is based on the analysis of Dit des quatre offices de l'ostel du roi and Chançon Royal a deux visaiges by Deschamps and the editing of Farce de Maistre Trubert et d'Antrongnart, two poems, sote chansons (Sote chançon de cinq vers a deux visaiges and Sote chançon a deux visaiges d'un compaignon qui vient de Paris), ballads («Je ne sçay de communs mestiers», « Enseigniez moi, douce gent », « Cergens, prenez moi ce larron ») and Dit de menage, an anonymous play from the fourteenth century (Paris, BnF, fr. 24432). Two major and joint fields of research then open. The first one, ecdotic and linguistic, focuses on the editing and translation of source texts from Latin to French. The second one, aesthetic and stylistic, strives to examine the codicological, formal and generic clues of theatricality, if not of staging, at least of “putting into voice”. Thus, the various texts of our corpus will help us question the very act of translating at the end of the Middle Ages. First, through the question of translation practices. How did the translators work with their source material? What were the aims of such translations? We will wonder if, ultimately, the actor through his work on language and the source text cannot also be considered an auctor. Then, we will address the question of the reasons for these translations. Were they commissioned by higher dedicatees? Or, on the contrary, were they intended for some private distribution or for a small circle of people, the clergy, for example? Between delectatio and utilitas, what were the purposes of these translations? Why choosing to translate or rewrite texts belonging to a genre that is all or in part based on dialogue when the only reference available to us today seem to suggest that these texts were intended for reading only? What evidence of performance can be found in the dramatic works and their material format?

Повний текст джерелаFrontinus (ca 35 -ca 104), one of the most distinguished men of the regime under Domitian, Nerva and Trajan, was the author of technical treatises: the aqueducts of Rome, some fragments of his surveying writings and the stratagems (strategemata) have come down to us. The first three books of the stratagems (maybe the fourth one is not authentic) were written between 83 and 96 ad. This work is a collection of examples of military trickery taken from warfare history of Rome, Greece, Persia, Carthage. . . Books 1 to 3 contain more than four hundred short anecdotes written in a bald and concise style. Frontinus doesn't mention his sources but Livy appears to be the main one. He also used Caesar, Sallust, Greek historians etc. . . And other collections of examples. In the first book are gathered stratagems useful before battle, in the second one, examples useful during and after the engagement. The third book deals with the siege of towns. Examples are classified according to the different kinds of stratagems and situations. Thus the author intended to help generals who want to acquire training in strategy. The edition of the text is based on a new collation of the most important manuscripts: eight from IXth to XIIith century plus three more recent. This is the first critical edition in France and the first French translation since Baudement's often unreliable translation for the collection Nisard (1849). A general introduction defines the place of Frontinus and his stratagems in literature. The commentary looks into the significance of the work (implications, method, aims. . . ) and explains in detail each example of the first book from a literary and a historical point of view

Повний текст джерелаAs a contemporary of Macrobius and Saint Augustine, Servius comments on the work of Virgil in a time when the traditionnal Roman values vacillate : the last pagans can see him as the defender of a classical education disappearing, while the Christians or the barbarians can, thanks to his teaching, appropriate the same culture, before transforming it. The book VI of the Aeneid, that of the arrival of the Trojans in Italy and of the descent into Hell of Aeneas, focuses on historical, philosophical and religious subjects which allow the exegete tho show his learning, but above all to pass on the keys of a civilization undergoing massive changes. Servius is nevertheless not only a specialist of Antiquity ; his scolies also show the marks of the intellectual preoccupations in the beginning of the Vth century and if he never made himself a theorist, we can however acknowledge the influence of the Platonism and the Neoplatonism in number of his explanations. The Commentary of Servius is by nature fragmentary ; if we add to it the scolies of Servius Danielis, it forms an eclectic, encyclopedic whole, with an often concise style. By reading it, we have a more precise idea of the reception of the Aeneid in late Antiquity, about the main ways thinking and the state of knowledge at the time, but also about the evolution of the Latin language and culture. For these reasons and with new examination of the handwritten text tradition, the present work has attempted to give an edition of the text allowing to establish the first French translation and to supply it with the indispensable notes and comments

Повний текст джерелаThis work deals with the slow emergence of textual analysis known as "commentaire de texte" in the French school system, together with its official recognition as part of the baccalaureat exam. First considered as the mere explanation of e text (known as "explication de texte"), the "commentary" became progressively defined as a deeper reflection on texts where the intelligence and sensibility of the reader combine with his ability to analyse. . Its practice is marked by its history ; many possible approaches are found : the observation of various procedures, based upon a corpus of "commentaries" about one and the same text, enables one to have a diachronic view of phenomena and to analyse their historical, or even philosophical implications. Today, "commentary" work is an interlinking field of study in the French school system ; it appears in four different subjects, which necessitates a good cohesion as to its teaching according to common cognitive abilities. It is favoured by students and teachers alike, even though they would like modalities of its realization to be somewhat less strict. A reflection on the mistakes made and a diversification of the ways of teaching it contribute to a better definition of this exercise which is characteristic of our teaching

Повний текст джерелаThe zoroastrian religion, allotted to Zoroastre, its prophet, comprises a sacred text: Avesta (: praise). This text is composed of five parts: Yasna; Visprad; Yašts; Xorda Avesta and Vidēvdād. The text which relates to our linguistic research belongs to the part of the Yašts. The Yašts are the collections of individual hymns, addressed to the divinities other than Ahura Mazdā. We have 21 Yašts which the 17e is called Ard Yašt. This Avestan text, in 61 stanzas, is devoted to Aú i: the goddess of the reward, the richness and the chance. Aú i is a very old goddess, who, after the appearance of the new faith, adapted to the religion of zoroastrianism. Ard Yašt carries a remarkable literary value. We will find there many beautiful images of the Iranian family, her ethics, its beautiful scented houses, as well, the catalogue of worshipers (:Haošiiaŋha, Yima, Θraētaona, Haoma, Kauui Haosrauuah, Zaraýuštra and Vīštāspa). Moreover, we find, the ancients unique myths, which give reference to the society, where Aúi was perhaps born. Then, complaints of Aúi against her enemies: people who are especially against the fertility and who do not comply with the rules of the legitimate family life. Also, there are strange religion rituals. It deserves to know that the meeting of Zaraýuštra with goddess Aúi , is one of the most romantic parts of Avesta. We tried here to treat the Avestan text and to give a translation, accompanied by the comments, concerning the difficulties of this Yašt and then, we would have the Avestan glossary

Повний текст джерелаThe object of this thesis is a Greek apocryphal dialogue, the Axiochus, which has been transmitted among Plato’s works. One of the few certainties about it is that it is not by Plato, but quite later. In the introduction I outlined in seven chapters a general exposition of the main problems of this text. The first chapter deals both with some moments of the fortune of the Axiochus in the cultural history of Europe and with a synthetic history of the studies on this dialogue from the XV century up to nowadays. The aim of this chapter is to show how the problems noted by the scholars have been already perceived during the process of reception of this work. The second chapter is devoted to the exam of the many problems of composition and argumentative coherence of the dialogue. My conclusion is that the Axiochus is not the product of an incapable and unskilled man, as someone has maintained, but it is an unfinished work. In the third chapter I have discussed the main problem of argumentative coherence of the dialogue, that is the strange position of the textual section which goes from 369b6 to 370b1. In fact, I think that this portion of the text should have been placed after 365e2. Clearly, it has been accidentally misplaced. The reason of this accident is that the author had written each section of the dialogue on a different sheet. However, the work has been published only after the author’s death by a redactor who has confused the right order of the sheets. In the fourth chapter I have examined the much disputed problem of the sources of the Axiochus. Actually, in the past some scholars have maintained that the anonymous depends from a single source, which has been identified with Crantor of Soloi or with Posidonius of Apamea. On the contrary, I think that the anonymous depends from many different sources, maybe with the mediation of repertories of traditional arguments which were in use in the schools of rhetoric. The fifth chapter deals with the problem of the historical and cultural contest where the dialogue has been composed. Thanks to a meticulous comparison with the first book of Cicero’s Tusculanae disputationes, I noticed a remarkable amount of similarities between these two texts. I mean not only similarities in the content, but also in the structure of the argumentation and in the philosophical orientation. It is a phenomenon that can be easily explained by supposing that the Axiochus and Cicero have been influenced by the same cultural context, which is the Academy of Philo of Larissa. In the sixth chapter, I have discussed some aspects of the literary technique of the anonymous. Finally, in the very short seventh chapter I have suggested the possibility of attributing this dialogue to Philo himself. This general introduction is followed by the critical edition with the Italian translation, preceded by a long study of the manuscript tradition. Actually, for the first time the critical text is based on a complete exam of the known witnesses, which has brought me to a better understanding of the relationships between the manuscripts along with establishing more solid fundaments for the text. The edition and the translation are followed by a long commentary organised by lemmas. It is a comprehensive commentary, even if the discussion of textual problems is predominant. The work ends with the bibliography
