Анотація:
The purposes of this research is to the differences in mathematical problem-solving skills enhancement and self-efficacy among students who had learned Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and students who received conventional instructions. Reseach use quasi-experimental was used pre-test research design posttest control group design. The experimental group was treated using RME approach while the control group gain use conventional approach. To gather the instrument is the form of mathematical problem solving ability test, and a questionnaire to determine students' self-efficacy toward mathematics. This research was conducted at Secondary Islamic School . The population is grade VIII students MTsN Model Banda Aceh inl year 2012/2013. The samples were two classes, VIII-7, class as the experimental class and the control class VIII-6, by purposive sampling technique. The researc found that studens mathematical problem-solving ability which were taken by with RME approach better than conventional approaches. Based on the analysis of self-efficacy RME class increases more than the self-efficacy of students who received conventional learning. Furthermore there a relationship between the ability of solving mathematical problems with self-efficacy of students in the experimental class and control with very low qualifications.

Анотація:
The purpose of this researc was to describe (1) students ability to complete story test before usedproblem solving approach. (2) students ability to complete story test after used problem solving learning. (3) the significant difference of students ability to complete story test before and after used problem solving approach. This researc was to pre experimental design, and this design is one group pretest-posttest . this research did to the threeth grade students at SDN 1 Saya, there have 24 students with 14 boys and 10 girls. Data analysis on this research are normality test, test of homogenity, paired sample t-test, and n-gain test. The result of this research: (1) Students ability to complete story test before used problem solving approach look on the pretest shown that value average of the students are 42. (2) Students ability to complete story test after used problem solving approach look on the pretest shown that value average of the students are 75.83. (3) It shown that signifanct difference of students ability to complete story test before and after used problem solving approach.Keywords: Ability to complete story test, problem solving.

Using biogas instead of fossil fuels decreases pollutants such as solid particles, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides concentrations in the environment. Green energy and development of relevant infrastructure improves air quality considerably. Chemical, physical, biological methods are used for biogas purification. The main difficulties using biological methods are selection of suitable microorganisms’ suspensions and making optimal conditions in photobioreactor. Different origin and structure microalgae suspensions are used applying biological treatment methods. Monoraphidium griffithi, which is widespread in fresh water, has relatively high potential. Microalgae’ cultures absorb the main components of biogas – carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulphide (H2S). Absorbtion processes are based on photosynthesis. Microalgae absorb specific components of biogas when there are suitable light source and nutrient solvent. The main purposes of the research are to asses emission of biogas using different substrates (chicken manure and wastewater sludge). Also, it was measured main physical and chemical characteristics of both substrates: acidicy, temperature, redox potential, conductivity, biohemical oxygen demand. According results of the research, emission from wastewater sludge is greater than from chicken manure so sludge was chosen in teh next stage of the research. The next stage – asssessment of purification efficienty using Monoraphidium grifftihii suspension. Raw biogas was supplied to photobioreacor (with microalgae suspension). Alterations of methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, hydrogen sulphide concentrations were measured precisely. According to results concentration of methane in the beginning of the researc was 62%, after 35 days – 69%. Meanwhile carbon dioxide – 37% and 31% by analogy. Experimental research alows to assess Monoraphidium griffithi absorption capacity of ballast components. Results were compared to different scientists’ results which were present in scientific journals and publications. Comparative analysis alows to assess practical possibilities to use Monoraphidium griffithi as biological treatment of raw biogas.

Анотація:
The paper presents results of the experimental research of a middle-size combine harvester when used for harvest of winter wheat and spring barley in heavy harvest conditions. Based on the results obtained, it was possible to determine the effect of field conditions on the crop mass flow in combine harvester, grain losses, fuel consumption, and combine harvester field performance. It was found that grain moisture content and conditions of the crop stand have a significant effect on the work indicators of the combine harvester when compared with its technological parameters and crop mass flow.

Дисертація на здобуття наукового ступеня кандидата технічних наук за спеціальністю 05.22.02 – автомобілі та трактори. – Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", Харків, 2018 р. Дисертацію присвячено підвищенню ефективності використання тракторів з ГОМТ за рахунок визначення впливу температурних режимів роботи ГОП на показники роботи трансмісії, обґрунтуванню параметрів системи охолодження гідрооб'ємної передачі. Проведено аналіз щодо впливу температури робочої рідини на роботу гідросистеми та підходів щодо визначення температурних режимів роботи гідрооб'ємної передачі. Складена розширена матрична математична модель, яка відрізняється урахуванням, окрім кінематичних та силових, температурних режимів роботи ГОП в складі ГОМТ трактора та дозволяє визначити перепад температури робочої рідини на різних ланках гідросистеми в залежності від режимів роботи. Проведені експериментальні дослідження підтвердили адекватність складеної математичної моделі. Проаналізовано характер зміни температури робочої рідини в ГОП на робочих та транспортних передачах. Виявлено залежність загального ККД трансмісії на кожній передачі від температурних режимів роботи ГОП в її складі та сформовані рекомендації щодо методології вибору системи охолодження.
The thesis for granting the scientific degree of Candidate of technical sciences in the specialty 05.22.02 – cars and tractors. – National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", Kharkiv, 2018. The thesis is devoted to increasing the efficiency of application the tractors based on hydrovolumetric mechanical transmissions (HVMT) through the determination of influence of temperature modes on hydrovolumetric transmission (HVT) characteristics justification of parameters of cooling system in HVT. The influence on temperature of working fluid on the work of hydro system has been carried out. There have been determined the approaches in the determination of temperature modes of HVT. The parameters of cooling system of HVT have been justified. There has been developed the extended mathematical model which considers the temperature, kinematics and power modes of volumetric hydraulic gear in HVMT of the wheel tractor. There also has been developed the mathematic model as a matrix that includes the description of kinematic parameters of HVMT, power parameters and energy conversion efficiency of all gearing parts and thermal characteristics. The provided research approved the adequacy of developed mathematical model. The variation of temperature of working fluid in the working and transport gear may be described as a curve with a maximum in a special zone. There has been determined the influence of temperature on general and volumetric energy conversion efficiency for the each gear and the recommendation for choosing the cooling system that consider the redistribution of power fluids in HVMT were performed.

Neurologic injuries are major causes of mortality and morbidity after cardiac surgery. This thesis aimed to investigate cerebral metabolism and perfusion abnormalities in pigs during hypothermic circulatory arrest, selective antegrade cerebral perfusion (SACP) and extracorporeal circulation following progressive venous stasis. Hypothermic circulatory arrest induced a metabolic pattern consistent with overt ischaemia, which was absent following SACP. In contrast, metabolism during SACP was influenced by the perfusate temperature, where a colder perfusate (20 °C) preserved cellular metabolism and membrane integrity better than a warmer perfusate (28 °C). The minimum SACP flow required to maintain metabolism during hypothermia at 20 °C was investigated with magnetic resonance imaging, protein S100β, near infrared spectroscopy and microdialysis. The findings suggested an ischaemic threshold close to 6 ml/kg/min in the present models. Furthermore, regional differences in perfusion with a hemispheric distribution were apparent at all flow levels and differed from earlier studies where the differences were uniform and followed a neuranatomical pattern. Venus stasis following superior vena cava congestion produced measurable signs of impaired cerebral perfusion and patterns of cerebral ischaemia were evident in individual animals. As venous pressure increased, the mean arterial pressure stayed more or less unchanged, generating reduced cerebral perfusion pressure and consequently an increased risk of ischaemia, which may impair cerebral perfusion, especially in cases of compromised arterial flow during extracorporeal circulation. In conclusion, cerebral metabolism and perfusion are influenced by temperature, SACP flow levels and venous congestion. In clinical practice, the regional differences in perfusion during SACP may be of pathogenic importance in focal cerebral ischaemia. Furthermore, the reduced superior vena cava cannula flow may pass undetected during bicaval cardiopulmonary bypass if the superior vena cava flow is not specifically monitored.

This thesis examines evaluation in experimental research articles in terms of the meanings made and their contribution to the organisation of the articles. After an introduction to the phenomenon of evaluation in Chapter 1, Chapter 2 surveys recent work concerning the process of scientific discovery and the writing of research articles. Chapter 3 returns to evaluation and its place in various theories of discourse, mainly those of Sinclair and of Halliday. The model of evaluation proposed in this thesis is set out in the next three chapters, dealing in turn with the Status, Value and Relevance functions of evaluation. Status is the function of evaluation which bestows entity, assessing along a certain-uncertain parameter. Value bestows quality and assesses along a good-bad parameter. Evaluation of Relevance is meta-discoursal and marks significance. Relevance Markers are identified, which progressively chunk and organise the text. Comparisons between texts analysed for Status, Value and Relevance demonstrate a movement towards the theoretical and an increase in complexity of argument as the sub-discipline under discussion progresses. Chapter 7 investigates the contribution of evaluation towards text structure and notes a number of ways in which discourse units in experimental research articles may be organised. The concluding chapter, Chapter 8, discusses some of the practical and theoretical implications of the work described in the thesis. The Appendix contains the research articles which comprise the corpus.

The relationships between organisms and the mechanisms that enable their coexistence are important issues in ecology. Plant removal experiments are useful to elucidate these mechanisms because its cause and effect response. This thesis aims to analyze experiments removal plants. The first paper presents a scientometric review of the literature on plant functional groups removal 1991. We verify aspects such as the number of publications and citations in journals indexed in the Web of Science, which country was made in order to detect bias and geographic gaps, which ecological effects were tested, which functional groups were removed, which removal methods and which environments were made. We found an increase in the number of publications and citations on average during this period, however, was 12 times lower than publications on functional diversity, perhaps due to the difficulty of conducting experiments. The work was mainly carried out in temperate climates where taxonomic knowledge is greater, in addition, there is a prevalence of vegetation that is most commonly removed than trees. Testing interactions, especially competition, was the main reason for removal, perhaps as a matter of historical competition is considered the interaction that influences the co-occurrence of species. The cut at ground was the major method of removing, undisturbing the soil and avoiding undesirable effects of herbicides, and few studies have been made in a greenhouse and in the natural environment at the same time, which could elucidate responses to natural conditions and at the same time responses specific interactions. In the second paper we carried a case study on removal of capim-flecha ( Tristachya leiostachya Ness.), a dominant grass in Emas National Park (ENP), and what the consequences of such removal to the co-occurring grasses. We expected that the absence of capim-flecha allow further growth of grasses, however we found no difference in mean values between treatments indicating that there is no competition influencing the abundance of capim-flecha. The historical context burned in PNE may have influenced this high dominance of capim-flecha. We believe that experiments are useful in testing interactions, especially if they are made in the natural environment and greenhouse at the same time.
As relações entre os organismos e os mecanismos que permitem sua coexistência são importantes questões em ecologia. Experimentos de remoção de plantas são úteis em elucidar esses mecanismos, devido sua capacidade de resposta do tipo causa e efeito. Esta dissertação se propõe a analisar experimentos de remoção de plantas. O primeiro artigo apresenta uma revisão cienciométrica das publicações sobre remoção de grupos funcionais de plantas, desde 1991. Verificamos aspectos como o número de publicações e citações em periódicos indexados no Web of Science, em qual país foi feito, visando detectar vieses e lacunas geográficas, quais efeitos ecológicos testados, quais grupos funcionais removidos, quais os métodos de remoção e em quais ambientes foram feitos. Encontramos um crescimento no número de publicações bem como na média de citações nesse período, contudo foi 12 vezes menor do que publicações sobre diversidade funcional, talvez devido à dificuldade de realizar experimentos. Os trabalhos foram realizados principalmente em climas temperados onde o conhecimento taxonômico é maior, além disso, há um predomínio de vegetação rasteira que é mais comumente removida do que árvores. Testar interações, principalmente competição, foi o principal motivo de remoção, talvez por uma questão histórica de competição ser considerada a interação que mais influencia a co-ocorrência de espécies. O corte rente ao solo foi o principal método de remoção, evitando revolver o solo e efeitos indesejáveis de herbicidas, e poucos trabalhos foram feitos em casa de vegetação e ambiente natural ao mesmo tempo, o que poderia elucidar respostas à condições naturais e ao mesmo tempo respostas específicas de interações. No segundo capítulo fizemos um estudo de caso sobre remoção de capim-flecha (Tristachya leiostachya Ness.), uma gramínea dominante no Parque Nacional das Emas (PNE), e quais as consequências dessa remoção para as gramíneas co-ocorrentes. Esperávamos que a ausência do capim-flecha permitiria um maior crescimento das gramíneas, contudo não encontramos diferença nos valores das médias entre os tratamentos o que indica que não há competição influenciando a abundância do capim-flecha. O contexto histórico queimadas no PNE pode ter influenciado essa alta dominância do capim-flecha. Consideramos que experimentos são úteis em testar interações, sobretudo se forem feitos em ambiente natural e casa de vegetação ao mesmo tempo.

The thesis research is situated within the field of Architecture. Its principle objective is the articulation of arguments for a new theory of architecture as an architectural poetics, and related to this, a new form of discourse as poetry of an architectonic order. The research was initiated through a series of questions that architects confront when asked to create and to speak about what can be understood to be(come) frameworks for (unknown) life. It thus deals with the question of the unknown and, related to this, the question of open form. It develops on the idea that a concept of inhabitation may be feasible exclusively on the basis of a theory that extends the well known two-valued logic that has been dominant in the Western world since the times of classical metaphysics. Rooted in philosophy, the research extends contemporary architectural and critical theory, notions from poets such as Paul Celan, Marguérite Duras and Samuel Beckett, and research in second order cybernetics – the latter with an emphasis on Gotthard Günther’s writings on Non-Aristotelean logic. The text’s focus is on the notion of Architecture as a transcendental concept. It advances the understanding of Architectural Design as a performative process that creates borders rather than borderlines, limits rather than limitations and, is therefore, a discipline of radical communication that always seeks to extend itself towards an Other – the unknown – addressing it without previously quantifying it to render it provable. The research furthers the field of Architecture by contributing to it a new theory in the form of an architectural poetics. It addresses questions of design with a procedural framework in which critical engagement is an intrinsic principle, and offers an alternative to existing discourses through a poetry of architectonic order that is open to the future.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This work explores alternative ways of doing research within the field of art and design; ways that respect complexity and acknowledge the expansive, relational and performative nature of signifi- cation in arriving at ‘new’ knowledge. Through processes of designing in-between, I have been moving through opposites, connecting connections, and de(re)constructing structure. I have used my immediate locations as triggers to forge relations between an array of seeming disparate, albeit kindred, concepts. The scope of the work seems to have perpetually broadened, while theory and practice have dissolved in mercurial in- between states. Such exuding expansiveness has, at times, unsettled and unnerved, but ironically it has also intensely resembled our everyday ‘realities’. Designing in-between - compared to traditional, science-based research methods operating in barricaded systems of thought - thus allows for more faithful interrogation of the complexity of the world we live in. I believe this can be of great value in any attempt at innovative knowledge production, but especially attempts from within the field of art and design - a field often defined by its ability to challenge conventional ways of knowing. My work should not be regarded as yet another predetermined guideline for future research. It should rather be read as an example of a “conceptual tool” or “thought strateg[y]” (Hurst, 2010:242) suited to the complexity of the open systems we form part of every day. Neither the challenging, nor the advantageous, aspects of my work should be regarded as superior and exclusive to the other. The existence of dissonance and contrast is productive; a life force propelling the search for new significance and knowledge.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie werkstuk ondersoek alternatiewe maniere van navorsing doen binne die veld van kuns en ontwerp; maniere wat die kompleksiteit en ewig-groeiende, verhoudingsgebaseerde en performa- tiewe aard van betekenis-konstruksie in die soeke na ‘nuwe’ kennis erken en respekteer. Deur prosesse van tussen-in ontwerp, het ek my weg probeer baan deur teenoorgesteldes, het ek konneksies gekonnekteer, en strukture gede(re)konstrueer. Ek het my onmiddellike omgewingskonteks as stimuli gebruik om verhoudings tussen ‘n verskeidenheid van kontrasterende, dog verwante, konsepte te bewerkstellig. Die omvang van hierdie navorsing het sodoende gedurig verbreed, terwyl teorie en praktyk in verstrengelde tussen-in toestande ontbind het. Alhoewel hierdie uitgestrekte, deurdringende kompleksiteit my dikwels ontsenu en laat weifel het, versinnebeeld dit ironies genoeg ons alledaagse ‘realiteite’ redelik getrou. Tussen-in ontwerp - in vergelyking met meer tradisionele, wetenskap-geba- seerde navorsingsmetodes wat binne begrensde gedagtesisteme funksioneer - laat ‘n mens dus die ruimte toe om die onvoorspelbare wisselwerking tussen die magdom veranderlikes aktief in die wêreld waarin ons leef, in ag te neem. Ek glo dat so ‘n benadering tot navorsing van besondere waarde kan wees in enige poging tot die innoverende bou van kennis, veral in pogings vanuit die veld van kuns en ontwerp - ‘n veld wat geken word aan sy/haar vermoë om gedurig konvensionele maniere van verstaan uit te daag. Ek wil nie hê dat my werk as net nog ‘n voorafbepaalde riglyn vir toekomstige navorsing gesien word nie. Dit moet eerder gelees word as ‘n voorbeeld van ‘n konseptuele instrument (“conceptual tool”) of gedagtestrategie (“thought strategy”) (Hurst, 2010:242) wat geskik is vir die kompleksiteit van die inherent oop sisteme wat ons alledaagse lewens definieer. Nie die uitdagende, nog die voordelige, aspekte van my werk moet as superieur en eksklusief tot die ander geag word nie. AbstractMotivated by his interest in thermodynamics and the emerging quantum mechanics, Otto Stern (1888–1969) launched in 1919 his molecular beam method to examine the fundamental assumptions of theory that transpire in atomic, molecular, optical, and nuclear physics. Stern’s experimental endeavors at Frankfurt (1919–1922), Hamburg (1923–1933), and Pittsburgh (1933–1945) provided insights into the quantum world that were independent of spectroscopy and that concerned well-defined isolated systems, hitherto accessible only to Gedanken experiments. In this chapter we look at how Stern’s molecular beam research came about and review six of his seminal experiments along with their context and reception by the physics community: the Stern-Gerlach experiment; the three-stage Stern-Gerlach experiment; experimental evidence for de Broglie’s matter waves; measurements of the magnetic dipole moment of the proton and the deuteron; experimental demonstration of momentum transfer upon absorption or emission of a photon; the experimental verification of the Maxwell-Boltzmann velocity distribution via deflection of a molecular beam by gravity. Regarded as paragons of thoroughness and ingenuity, these experiments entail accurate transversal momentum measurements with resolution better than 0.1 atomic units. Some of these experiments would be taken up by others where Stern left off only decades later (matter-wave scattering or photon momentum transfer). We conclude by highlighting aspects of Stern’s legacy as reflected by the honors that have been bestowed upon him to date.

The solution to many engineering problems is obtained through the combination of analytical, computational and experimental methods. In many cases, cost or size constraints limit testing of full-scale articles. Similitude allows observations made in the laboratory to be used to extrapolate the behavior to full-scale system by establishing relationships between the results obtained in a scaled experiment and those anticipated for the full-scale prototype. This paper describes the application of the Buckingham Pi theorem to develop a set of non-dimensional parameters that are appropriate for describing the problem of a distributed load applied to the rostrum of the paddlefish. This problem is of interest because previous research has demonstrated that the rostrum is a very efficient structural system. The ultimate goal is to estimate the response of a complex, bio-inspired structure based on the rostrum to blast load. The derived similitude laws are verified through a series of numerical experiments having a maximum error of 3.39%.
