This paper presents the authors results with the investigation of decentralized data dependency analysis among concurrently executing processes in a service-oriented environment. Distributed Process Execution Agents (PEXAs) are responsible for controlling the execution of processes that are composed of web services. PEXAs are also associated with specific distributed sites for the purpose of capturing data changes that occur at those sites in the context of service executions using Delta-Enabled Grid Services. PEXAs then exchange this information with other PEXAs to dynamically discover data dependencies that can be used to enhance recovery activities for concurrent processes that execute with relaxed isolation properties. This paper outlines the functionality of PEXAs, describing the data structures, algorithms, and communication mechanisms that are used to support decentralized construction of distributed process dependency graphs, demonstrating a more dynamic and intelligent approach to identifying how the failure of one process can potentially affect other concurrently executing processes.

Speech production not only relies on spoken (overt speech) but also on silent output (inner speech). Little is known about whether inner and overt speech are processed differently and which neural mechanisms are involved. By simultaneously applying electroencephalography (EEG) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), we tried to disentangle executive control from motor and linguistic processes. A preparation phase was introduced additionally to the examination of overt and inner speech directly during naming (i.e., speech execution). Participants completed a picture-naming paradigm in which the pure preparation phase of a subsequent speech production and the actual speech execution phase could be differentiated. fNIRS results revealed a larger activation for overt rather than inner speech at bilateral prefrontal to parietal regions during the preparation and at bilateral temporal regions during the execution phase. EEG results showed a larger negativity for inner compared to overt speech between 200 and 500 ms during the preparation phase and between 300 and 500 ms during the execution phase. Findings of the preparation phase indicated that differences between inner and overt speech are not exclusively driven by specific linguistic and motor processes but also impacted by inhibitory mechanisms. Results of the execution phase suggest that inhibitory processes operate during phonological code retrieval and encoding.

The business processes has a major role in the activities of an organization. Organizations have various types of information systems that support the business processes. One of the systems that support the operations of an organization’s business processes is a transaction processing system that serves to record the daily routine transactions necessary in running a business. In the implementation of business process on information systems, often occur repetitive coding activities for additions or changes to business processes. In general, business process consist of a set of activities and relate to each other between one activity to another. To overcome the problem of repetitive coding implementation, relations between activities must be modelled. In this thesis, business process mapping to data level using metadata approach is proposed as a solution to manage any execution services build on information systems, so that developers can focus to the business process flows. The constructed data model divide building blocks of business process into three type such as event, task and gateway. The data model that has been found capable of storing business process as well as the execution flow of the business process into database. The transaction processing system has been built based on the data model of the process that has been found. Executor of business process has been developed based on metadata that has been designed. From the test results concluded that metadata is able to define business process, and the executor can control the flow of executions of business process correctly. Control of the execution flow of the business process can be done manually by the user or automatically by the executor based on the defined rules in metadata.

Dynamic controllability guarantees that a process control can steer the execution of a business process without violating any temporal constraints although some tasks have uncontrollable durations. However, it has been shown that dynamic controllability may lead to process executions with the undesirable property that tasks have to be started or ended on extremely short notice. Sudden termination forces the agent to immediately terminate the execution of a process task without any prior notice in order to meet some temporal constraints. Semi-dynamic controllability guarantees dynamic controllability and the absence of sudden termination. Here, we show that dynamic controllability may also lead to the problem of sudden start, which forces the immediate start of a process task without prior notice. We formalize all constellations of temporal constraints causing sudden start and sudden termination in a process. We propose a technique to design processes in which activities can be dynamically dispatched without these surprises, i.e., with advance notice, and extend the notion of semi-dynamic controllability by also considering the sudden start. This leads to a sound and complete algorithm for checking the semi-dynamic controllability of time-constrained processes.

The Internet of Things (IoT) enables a variety of smart applications, including smart home, smart manufacturing, and smart city. By enhancing Business Process Management Systems with IoT capabilities, the execution and monitoring of business processes can be significantly improved. Providing a holistic support for modeling, executing and monitoring IoT-driven processes, however, constitutes a challenge. Existing process modeling and process execution languages, such as BPMN 2.0, are unable to fully meet the IoT characteristics (e.g., asynchronicity and parallelism) of IoT-driven processes. In this article, we üresent BPMNE4IoT—A holistic framework for modeling, executing and monitoring IoT-driven processes. We introduce various artifacts and events based on the BPMN 2.0 metamodel that allow realizing the desired IoT awareness of business processes. The framework is evaluated along two real-world scenarios from two different domains. Moreover, we present a user study for comparing BPMNE4IoT and BPMN 2.0. In particular, this study has confirmed that the BPMNE4IoT framework facilitates the support of IoT-driven processes.

Purpose This article describes an approach to strategy execution using lessons learned from improvement efforts to the sales incentive compensation (SIC) business processes and IT systems in Cisco Systems. Design/methodology/approach This case outlines an alternative approach to strategy execution–a COAR strategy map methodology– illustrated with lessons learned from efforts to improve the sales incentive compensation business processes and IT systems in Cisco Systems.” Findings By following a structured and systematic process, organizations can implement a process for strategy execution that is effective and repeatable. In executing strategy, stay focused on how to translate the decisions taken while defining business strategy into operations. As business strategy changes, elements of the strategy execution must change as well. Research limitations/implications This case is primarily a guide to strategy execution and is not meant to be a prescription for a cutting edge sales compensation plan. Practical implications Although the examples used in this article relate to SIC business processes, the lessons learned can be applied to strategy execution in general. Originality/value It is this “peek forward” into a virtual execution setting, and the opportunity to use it as a scenario-like tool to test alternatives, that increases the likelihood that managers will devise a stable and executable strategy.

International arbitration awards in practice do not always run smoothly in carrying out their executions, so there is a need for affirmation of regulations both fundamentally or the principles and regulations. That is the background why this needs to be studied. So the legal issues in the research are: How is the power of the executive principle in international arbitration decisions in terms of the Regulation of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 1999 concerning Procedures for Implementing Foreign Arbitration Awards? The problems that arise in carrying out the execution of foreign arbitration awards in Indonesia?. This study uses a normative juridical research method using a doctrinal legal approach, which analyzes laws and regulations, legal theories, doctrines, legal principles, which are analyzed in the form of descriptions. The results of the study show that: basically the legal force of an international arbitral award which is final, binding and legally binding remains the same as a court decision that has permanent legal force. What makes the difference is that an international arbitral award does not have executive power before the award is registered and requested for executorial fiat at the Central Jakarta District Court. The problem that often arises in Indonesia is the use of reasons for decisions that are contrary to public order (public policy) to refuse the execution of decisions. So that in such circumstances the international community sees it as a legal uncertainty.

In a wide variety of cognitive domains, performance is determined by the selection and execution of cognitive strategies to solve problems. We used magnetoencephalography to identify the brain regions involved and specify the time course of dynamic modulations of executive control processes during strategy execution. Participants performed a computational estimation task in which they were instructed to execute a poorer or better strategy to estimate results of two-digit multiplication problems. When participants were asked to execute the poorer strategy, two distinct sets of brain activations were identified, depending on whether the poorer strategy (engaging the left inferior frontal junction) or the better strategy (engaging ACC) had been executed on the immediately preceding items. Our findings also revealed the time course of activations in regions involved in sequential modulations of cognitive control processes during arithmetic strategy execution. These findings point at processes of proactive preparation on items after poorer strategy items and dynamics of reactive adjustments after better strategy items.

The article describes the procedure automation of optimization discrete technological processes with using of Bellman’s functional (recurrent) equation and system Mathcad. As rule the technological processes includes n of operations and each operation can be executed by various types of equipment. Expenses (cost, time, …) on execution of i operation by k equipment after execution by j equipment (i-1) operation are known - c (i, j, k). Expenses for execution by k equipment i operation can depend on the equipment - j, which executed previous (i-1) operation. It is necessary to execute automation of optimization technological process with the minimum expenses. The algorithm of the decision of a problem by Bellman’s method includes two phases. The first phase is calculations of the minimum expenses for execution of all partial technological processes, from last operation of process to the first. The second phase is definition of the required optimum set of equipment which is carrying out all technological process with the minimum expenses. The proposed procedure of automation of optimization technological process using Bellman’s method and system Mathcad significantly decreases time and labour costs on execution of such calculations and efficiently to execute investigations related with change of equipment parameters.

A significant challenge for organisations is the timely identification of the abnormalities or deviations in their process executions. Abnormalities are generally due to missing vital aspects of a process or possession of unwanted behaviour in the process execution. Conformance analysis techniques examine the synchronisation between the recorded logs and the learned process models, but the exploitation of event logs for abnormality detection is a relatively under-explored area in process mining. In this paper, we proposed a novel technique for the identification of abnormalities in business process execution through the extension of available conformance analysis techniques. Non-traditional conformance analysis techniques are used to find correlations and discrepancies between simulated and observed behaviour in process logs. Initially, the raw event log is filtered into two variants, successful and failed, based upon the outcome of the instances. Successfully executed instances refer to an ideal conduct of process and are utilised to discover an optimal process model. Later, the process model is used as a behavioural benchmark to classify the abnormality in the failed instances. Abnormal behaviour is compiled grounded on three dimensions of conformance, control flow-based alignment, trace-level alignment and event-level alignment. For early predictions, we introduced the notion of conformance lifeline presenting the impact of varying fitness scores during process execution. We applied the proposed methodology to a real-world event log and presented several process-specific improvement measures in the discussion section.

In order to deal with global competition, industries have undertaken many efforts directed to improve manufacturing efficiency. From a broad perspective, the adopted approaches could be classified in two categories: 1. the simplification of manufacturing processes and relative control systems, leading to lean manufacturing methododologies and techniques; 2. the massive deployment of information tools and computational algorithms, aiming to plan and control all the activities in detail, in spite of system complexity. For several years, these two approaches have been assumed to be mutually exclusive; nevertheless, information collection and analysis are mandatory to define improvement strategies and assess their impact; therefore, the deployment of lean manufacturing methodologies cannot exclude the integration of Information Technology (IT) tools. The aim of this work is to investigate on methodologies and techniques adoptable to improve the efficacy of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), a class of software that allows data exchange between the shop-floor and the organizational levels, enabling the implementation of the lean manufacturing approach. Today, the feedback information in the available MES mainly consists in key performance indicators, such as cycle time, work in process and resources utilization. Beside this, MES requires the integration of functionalities for process monitoring and control, aiming at the reduction of wastes and supporting continuous improvement. Hence, mathematical techniques able to analyze data in real-time and provide useful information to adaptively control the process are studied in this work. To provide the evidence of the feasibility and effectiveness of the approach, as well as the independence from any specific manufacturing technology, different case studies, both in the fields of subtractive and additive manufacturing, have been developed. In the former, a technique for the automatic alignment of a spur gear has been studied: geometrical measurements are acquired and analyzed in real-time to provide the values for two feasible part rotations resulting in the gear configuration with minimum positioning error. Such gears are manufactured for applications in aeronautics, and the deployment of this automation system is particularly significant because of the tight tolerances to be satisfied. The latter case study deals with a Fused Deposition Modeling process: an algorithm able to monitor part surface accuracy and identify defects has been developed. This methodology allows to evaluate in real-time whether the quality of the part is satisfactory or not; in case of negative response, the process can be stopped avoiding material loss. The implemented techniques enable product quality improvement, as well as the reduction of wasted material and time. Nevertheless, the deployment of such information only for process control purposes is restrictive; a framework to use this knowledge for supporting the design and the continuous improvement of a product or a process is presented. Furthermore, two case studies have been dealt to extend the application of MES tools from manufacturing operations to ancillary services. The first one is in the field of automated warehouses: a combined approach made of mathematical models and simulations has been developed. Analytical tools have been defined to evaluate the average performance of a system in simple, pre-determined situations; conversely, the simulation tool aims at a higher detail level of assessment, since in the real shop-floor deployment, different, composite storage and retrieval activities can take place. In the second case-study, mathematical models and simulation are used to support the re-design of a manufacturing process; the focus is on the transport of items through the line, performed by automated vehicles. The mathematical model has been developed to identify the optimal layout of the workstations; simulations are used to evaluate the tasks to be performed by the automated vehicles and the resulting performance. In both the applications, the deployment of simulation tools allows to evaluate complex or even unexpected scenarios by predicting the behavior of a system, preventing criticalities, and evaluating the impact of a change in the process. The management criteria can be adapted according to the features of the real situation to be faced; this leads to better exploit the available resources, to improve productivity and identify waste sources, consistently with the lean paradigm.

An intelligent agent, operating in an external world which cannot be fully described in its internal world model, must be able to monitor the success of a previously generated plan and to respond to any errors which may have occurred. The process of error analysis requires the ability to reason in an expert fashion about time and about processes occurring in the world. Reasoning about time is needed to deal with causality. Reasoning about processes is needed since the direct effects of a plan action can be completely specified when the plan is generated, but the indirect effects cannot. For example, the action `open tap' leads with certainty to `tap open', whereas whether there will be a fluid flow and how long it might last is more difficult to predict. The majority of existing planning systems cannot handle these kinds of reasoning, thus limiting their usefulness. This thesis argues that both kinds of reasoning require a complex internal representation of the world. The use of Qualitative Process Theory and an interval-based representation of time are proposed as a representation scheme for such a world model. The planning system which was constructed has been tested on a set of realistic planning scenarios. It is shown that even simple planning problems, such as making a cup of coffee, require extensive reasoning if they are to be carried out successfully. The final Chapter concludes that the planning system described does allow the correct solution of planning problems involving complex side effects, which planners up to now have been unable to solve.

Ett ramverk för kontraktbaserad schemaläggning av dynamisk resursfördelning i realtidsoperativsystem ska rapporteras till operativsystemet OSE. Ramverket, som utvecklats i ett EU-forskningsprojekt, kräver uppmätt process exekveringstid för att fatta riktiga schemaläggningsbeslut. Sådana mätningar görs för närvarande inte i ENEAs RTOS OSE och examensarbetets syfte har därför varit att undersöka möjligheterna att implementera en sådan funktion. Alternativ har hittats och utvärderats, slutligen har ett valts för implementation. Funktionalilteten har verifierats och slutlilgen har prestanda utvärderats hos den implementerade mätningsmetoden.

It is widely acknowledged that under situations of heightened pressure, many expert athletes suffer from performance decrements. This phenomenon has been termed ‘choking under pressure’ and has been the subject of extensive research in sport psychology. Despite this attention, gaps in the literature remain leaving opportunities for further advancements in knowledge about the phenomenon, particularly in relation to its underlying processes and the development of appropriate interventions that can be adopted in order to alleviate, or even prevent choking. The present programme of research, in general terms, aimed to develop and test the efficacy of an intervention tool, based on priming, to alleviate choking under pressure. It was acknowledged that such a tool should be matched to the mechanisms that underlie the choking process and although an abundance of research has provided valuable information about these mechanisms, it was identified that there still remains a lack of consensus regarding the most appropriate explanatory theory. Therefore the initial study in this thesis aimed to provide further insight into the processes that govern choking by examining accounts from elite international swimmers of their experiences of performing under high levels of pressure. The results provided further support for the postulation that choking under pressure occurs as a result of a combination of conscious processing hypothesis (Masters, 1992) and processing efficiency theory (Eysenck & Calvo, 1992) and that an optimum level of skill-focused attention is beneficial to performance. The following studies utilised this information as well as that of the existent theories of choking, to develop and examine an effective priming based intervention tool (a scrambled sentence task). Specifically, Studies 2, 3 and 4 examined the amount of residual working memory available after activation of the prime, the optimisation of the priming task and the efficacy of the tool in promoting performance under high pressure respectively. Results revealed support for the efficacy of the tool in reducing online skill-focused attention and promoting performance under both low- and high-pressure conditions. Finally, the general themes that emerged throughout the whole programme of study are discussed, as well as the limitations and recommendations for future research. Implications for coaches, athletes and practitioners are also presented.

In this thesis the neural correlates associated with reaches under varying conditions of visual feedback, delay and movement difficulty were examined. The events of interest, wherein these correlates are observed were: 1) the encoding of a target (P3); and 2) the execution of a reaching movement towards the target (motor MP & N4). In study 1, the neural correlates associated with variations in task difficulty and target visible vs. target occluded were examined. The results of target encoding showed that P3 was greater when observed prior to reaches without than with vision of the target. Results of MP and N4 both varied based on task difficulty, as reaches to the far target yielded larger amplitudes than reaches to the close target. In study 2, the effects of visual feedback, delay condition, and presentation schedules (i.e., blocked vs. randomized) on target encoding and movement related cortical potentials was examined. For target encoding, component P3 failed to yield any significant differences across all vision, delay and presentation schedules. As for the movement related potentials, significant effects of delay were observed for component MP in the randomized protocol (i.e., larger MP in the long vs. the short delay), but not the blocked protocol. The analysis of N4 for the randomized protocol yielded a main effect of vision, as reaches with vision of the target attained greater negative amplitudes as compared with reaches without vision of the target. In the blocked protocol the analyses of N4 yielded a main effect of delay period as movements following long delay periods resulted in larger negative amplitudes. In study 3, the effects of real-time vision of the hand and target during a reaching movement on target encoding and movement execution were investigated. The findings revealed that the P3 component was modulated by the visibility of target. For the movement related cortical potentials, larger amplitudes for N4 were yielded for reaches without vision of the hand vs. reaches with vision of the hand. The three studies taken together provide insight into the neural events associated with goal-directed manual aiming under various reaching conditions.

The purpose of this study was to unearth the challenges that occur in procurement processes and the effects these challenges have on project execution. Project procurement management is the production of associations with outside merchants and providers for merchandise and enterprises expected to finish a task. This process encompasses five stages: initiating and planning, selecting, contract writing, monitoring, and lastly, closing the deal. To clearly illustrate the magnitude of challenges faced in procurement processes, a project management company in Cape Town, South Africa, has been chosen as the subject of study. This study identified that procurement challenges were rooted in the company’s method of execution which comprises supplier-related issues, strategy selection issues, cost reduction and savings achievement factors, data accuracy issues and stakeholder management concerns. The aforementioned challenges resonate with various theoretical connotations by authorities who maintained that challenges in procurement could be narrowed to four areas: cost reduction, ‘going digital’, risk mitigation and supplier relationships. This study adopted a mixed research methodology incorporating both qualitative and quantitative research techniques and relied on field research conducted both through a survey of administered questionnaires as well as structured interviews. The information gathered in field research has been used to augment and corroborate theoretical information existing in literature and to proffer solutions through pragmatic recommendations for improving procurement processes with the intent of enhancing project execution efficacy and effectiveness. This study further aimed to add input to the existing body of knowledge concerning the effects of procurement processes on project execution in project management and also to contribute to the existing literature in procurement management.

AbstractIn this chapter, the OLive-L approach will illustrate how the SecANet approach presented in Chapter 3 can be applied to handle and resolve obstructions based on process logs. In order to complete the workflow in that context, based on indicators captured as costs, a certain yet still compliant degree of violation of safety properties is tolerated. The solutions allow for additional, eventually live, process execution sequences because they widen the behavioral framework restricted by classic IT security in a security-sensitive way. This chapter focuses on log-based completability (as identified in Chapter 2) and considers the obstruction as an execution trace in the context of process event logs. The realization of the OLive-L approach will incorporate methods of process mining and machine learning techniques to propose security-sensitive solutions that represent the nearest match of successful executions to escape an obstructed state. To show the applicability of the OLive-L approach, the evaluation offers experimental results based on event data synthesized from SecANet execution sequences. A set of example process logs will be generated using sample models with different degrees of complexity. Experiments based on these inputs will empirically show characteristics and functionality of the proposed approach. In the course of the discussion it will be sketched how logs may be used for the model-based approach and vice versa.

This evaluation assesses the implementation of Inter-American Development Bank (IDB, or Bank) commitments related to the human resources (HR) policies set out in the 2007 realignment and IDB-9. Under these commitments, the Bank is required to continue improving its organizational efficiency and capacity, building on the organizational model set forth in the 2007 realignment. This report is a preliminary review of the topic; next year's evaluation of the realignment by the Office of Evaluation and Oversight will explore issues of efficiency and efficacy in greater depth. The evaluation finds that the IDB-9 results framework is insufficient to allow a full assessment of the "full and effective implementation" of the HR mandates. Nonetheless, it finds progress in the implementation of some of the commitments, such as the strengthening of capacity in country offices, the implementation of a results-based performance framework, the promotion of gender diversity, the improvement of talent management, and the reform of the process for contracting consultants. It is too soon to judge whether these reforms are yielding the expected results in terms of cost-effectiveness, client satisfaction, reduced time in project preparation and execution, improved project quality and evaluability, increased country knowledge and project origination, better technical dialogue with clients, increased employee motivation and performance, and better talent management.

The goal of development assistance is to deliver measurable results. At the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Development Effectiveness Framework (DEF) was adopted to enhance the likelihood this goal is met. The key objective of this analysis is to enhance our understanding of the role the set of tools and processes adopted at the IDB, from project design to completion, play in the assessment of a projects success and effectiveness. Specifically, we are interested in teasing out the role different dimensions of project design, assessed through the Development Effectiveness Matrix (DEM), and execution performance indicators, as per the Project Monitoring Report (PMR), have on the delivery of effective and successful projects measured through the Project Completion Report (PCR) methodology implemented at the IDB. We also explore the validation process of PCRs and delve into the effectiveness analysis at the level of specific objectives and result indicators, identifying key pitfalls associated with objectives not being met. Overall, our findings provide strong validation for the DEF and its tools. We find robust evidence for the importance of the quality at entry assessment conducted through the DEM. In particular, the quality of the results matrix at approval is a strong determinant of project success and effectiveness at closure, and the quality of the Evaluation Plan is strongly associated with the effectiveness of a project. In terms of execution performance, our analysis finds that, on average, projects that execute a lower share of their approved loan amount, are put on Alert, or are classified as a Problem, in its first three years of execution; and projects that experience a higher share of their outputs discontinued, with respect to their first results matrix, are most likely to be ineffective in achieving their objectives and will likely be rated as unsuccessful.

This research frames the issue of explosive weapons in the broader context of protection of civilians in urban conflict and focuses on multilateral operations. The research takes a comprehensive approach to civilian protection from a ‘risk reduction’ perspective—that is, seeking to understand where the risks and uncertainties lie in the entire ‘civilian protection life cycle’, recognizing that civilian harm is the cumulative effect of numerous risks and decisions made from formulating mandates, planning, execution, assessment and response to lessons learned and institutional learning. Particular focus is placed on the targeting and weaponeering processes.

Citizen participation in government auditing processes by supreme audit institutions (SAIs) has increased in the last 20 years due to digital innovation. This growth has been driven by the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Entities (OLACEFS) and the International Organization of SAI Entities (INTOSAI) through the creation of citizen participation commissions that promote collaborative work with civil society. This study surveys 60 cases of citizen participation in fiscal control through digital channels around the world. We classify these cases according to the fiscal control cycle, whose phases include: (i) planning, (ii) execution, (iii) dissemination, and (iv) monitoring. These experiences could pave the way for Latin American and Caribbean countries to analyze and adapt to their specific contexts and needs to empower citizens and strengthen accountability in the different phases of the fiscal control cycle. This work not only provides new ideas for the SAIs of the region, but also serves as a valuable educational resource for those citizens with an interest in the participatory development of open government policies.

This evaluation assesses IDB's role in contributing to the coordinated solution of transnational challenges during the period 2000-2011. The evaluation found that the relevance and effectiveness of IDB's Technical Cooperation program has been limited - in particular the Regional Public Good (RPG) program. The efficiency of the transnational Technical Cooperation program has been reduced by specific characteristics of the RPG program, though the RPG team has been successful in mitigating some of these challenges through strong execution. Even in technical cooperation that financed pilots, asymmetric ownership among countries has been a serious constraint to sustainability. Transnational operations face a pervasive misalignment of incentives. Without concessional funds, countries have limited incentives to undertake these costly operations. The IDB should carefully consider the pros and cons of deepening its engagement in transnational projects and related technical cooperation. In the event it chooses to do so, it should take steps to identify ways to enhance concessionality, and adapt IDB processes, structures, incentives, and budget to facilitate the implementation of transnational projects. It should also enhance the effectiveness of the transnational technical cooperation program, which should continue at some level of funding.

The activities have been focused in two aspects: reduction of the storage space used by applications and design and implementation of an interface that optimizes the use of fast local storage by MPI simulations involved in the project applications. In the rst case, for one of the environments involved in the project (PyCOMPSs) the default behavior is to keep all intermediate les until the end of the execution, in case these les are reused later by any additional task. In the case of the other environment (HyperLoom), all les are deleted by default. To unify these two behaviours, the calls \delete object" and \detele le"have been added to the API and a ag \keep" that can be set to true to keep the les and objects that maybe needed later on. We are reporting results on the optimization of the storage needed by a small case of the project application that reduces the storage needed from 25GB to 350MB. The second focus has been on the de nition of an interface that enables the optimization of the use of local storage disk. This optimization focuses on MPI simulations that may be executed across multiple nodes. The added annotation enables to de ne access patters of the processes in the MPI simulations, with the objective of giving hints to the runtime of where to allocate the di erent MPI processes and reduce the data transfers, as well as the storage usage.
