In this conversation, Kevin K. Kumashiro shares his reflections on challenges to publishing anti-oppressive research in educational journals. He then invites eight current and former editors of leading educational research journals—William F. Pinar, Elizabeth Graue, Carl A. Grant, Maenette K. P. Benham, Ronald H. Heck, James Joseph Scheurich, Allan Luke, and Carmen Luke — to critique and expand on his analysis. Kumashiro begins the conversation by describing his own experiences submitting manuscripts to educational research journals and receiving comments by anonymous reviewers and journal editors. He suggests three ways to rethink the collaborative potential of the peer-review process: as constructive, as multilensed, and as situated. The eight current and former editors of leading educational research journals then critique and expand Kumashiro's analysis. Kumashiro concludes the conversation with additional reflections on barriers and contradictions involved in advancing anti-oppressive educational research in educational journals.

Training on publication of reputable international journals for students is a training carried out to improve and increase the ability to create and publish journals. With this training, students are more aware of the needs of publishing and producing scientific papers, this is because a lot of information and knowledge are already digital-based. The purpose of holding training on the publication of reputable international journals is that FTIK students are expected to have experience and be able to publish reputable international journals. This service method uses four stages of activities, namely material presentation, journal templating, discussion, and article submission. The results of this service show that this training produces several articles that have been submitted in reputable international journals, including: Journal of Educational Sciences, Journal of Education and Instruction, Journal of Educational and Social Research, Journal of Learning, Teaching, and Educational, Journal of Social Studies Education Research, Journal of Islamic Thought and Civilization, Review of International Geographical Education Online, Turkish Online Journal of Distance Education , Education Reform Journal, Higher Education Governance and Policy , The Journal of Gifted Education and Creativity , The journal of Education &Youth Research (EYOR) , Turkish Online Journal of Distance Education (TOJDE), International Online Journal of Primary Education (IOJPE), Journal of Education and Future – JEF, International e-Journal of Advances in Education (IJAEDU) , Journal of Teacher Education and Educators, Journal of Teacher Education and Lifelong Learning, International Journal of Assessment Tools in Education (IJATE)

To assess and promote internationally representative scholarship, several past studies have examined the geographic affiliation of journals’ editorial board members and authors. The present study is the first known to examine this with journals devoted to school and educational psychology. After systematically identifying all peer-reviewed scholarly journals around the globe that are specifically devoted to school or educational psychology ( N = 45), the goals of this study were to (a) report key characteristics about each journal’s editorial board, and (b) examine the extent to which geographic affiliation (country where one is employed) is consistent among a journal’s editorial board members and recent authors. One key finding revealed that editorial boards of the discipline’s journals represent individuals from all global regions, but many global regions (e.g. Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America) are underrepresented. Another finding showed that the vast majority of journals evidence strong similarities in geographic affiliation between editorial board members and authors. Findings, implications, limitations, and future research directions are discussed in the context of internationalization.

Little is known about open access publishing in educational technology journals that employ a hybrid model which charges authors only if they wish to publish via gold open access. In this study we sought to address this gap in the scholarly understanding of open access publishing in hybrid journals that publish research into the intersection of education and technology. We analysed three categories of article access types: gold, green, and limited access, and collected data on their prevalence in the seven-year period from 2010-2017 across 29 journals. Data was gathered from Scopus, Unpaywall, Sherpa RoMEO, and via manual searches of the journal websites, resulting in a dataset comprising the metadata of 8,479 articles. Our findings highlight that most research remains locked behind paywalls, that open access publishing through legal means is a minority activity for the scholars involved, and that the complexity and costs of legal open access publishing in these journals may be inhibiting the accessibility of research to readers.

The article deals with the foreign and domestic experience of using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) software platform for informational support of scientific and educational activities, in particular: a) as a means of publicizing and disseminating the results of scientific research; b) for creating and maintaining repositories of libraries of higher educational establishments; c) for developing the scientific and educational space of an educational establishments; d) as a cloud-based service for the preservation and access to scientific resources; e) for information support in organization of student training; and f) for deployment of student journals. As a result of the analysis of scientific periodicals of Ukraine in the field of psychological and pedagogical sciences, the scientific journals on the basis of Open Journal Systems are identified. The experience of support the electronic scientific journal «Information Technologies and Learning Tools» (http://journal.iitta.gov.ua) is presented separately.

ObjectiveTo conduct a Delphi survey informing a consensus definition of predatory journals and publishers.DesignThis is a modified three-round Delphi survey delivered online for the first two rounds and in-person for the third round. Questions encompassed three themes: (1) predatory journal definition; (2) educational outreach and policy initiatives on predatory publishing; and (3) developing technological solutions to stop submissions to predatory journals and other low-quality journals.ParticipantsThrough snowball and purposive sampling of targeted experts, we identified 45 noted experts in predatory journals and journalology. The international group included funders, academics and representatives of academic institutions, librarians and information scientists, policy makers, journal editors, publishers, researchers involved in studying predatory journals and legitimate journals, and patient partners. In addition, 198 authors of articles discussing predatory journals were invited to participate in round 1.ResultsA total of 115 individuals (107 in round 1 and 45 in rounds 2 and 3) completed the survey on predatory journals and publishers. We reached consensus on 18 items out of a total of 33 to be included in a consensus definition of predatory journals and publishers. We came to consensus on educational outreach and policy initiatives on which to focus, including the development of a single checklist to detect predatory journals and publishers, and public funding to support research in this general area. We identified technological solutions to address the problem: a ‘one-stop-shop’ website to consolidate information on the topic and a ‘predatory journal research observatory’ to identify ongoing research and analysis about predatory journals/publishers.ConclusionsIn bringing together an international group of diverse stakeholders, we were able to use a modified Delphi process to inform the development of a definition of predatory journals and publishers. This definition will help institutions, funders and other stakeholders generate practical guidance on avoiding predatory journals and publishers.

Information-professional-scientific periodicals have been present in Croatian textile field for 90 years with five successive journals. They mirrored the development and needs of the textile industry through various socio-economic and educational-scientific conditions. In this sense, the scientific journal for textile and clothing technology – Tekstil that marks 67 years of uninterrupted publication had the most important role. This journal is the most relevant source of various information on the development of textile profession and textile technology in Croatia and abroad. As a monthly journal, Tekstil was the source of the current peer-reviewed scientific and professional information that was trying to meet the needs of many generations of students, experts, teachers and scientists in the field of textiles. Beside the review of the journal development in 67-year period, this paper is an attempt to indicate the journal’s current difficulties and challenges in sense of regaining his status among the most relevant world journals.

454 papers appearing in 10 journals published by the American Psychological Association during 1999 were reviewed to consider the frequency of publication of qualitative research. Journals reviewed included Health Psychology, Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Educational Psychology, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Journal of Family Psychology, Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, Psychological Assessment, and Psychology and Aging. Papers were classified as quantitative, qualitative, or mixed qualitative/quantitative studies. Quantitative papers were also dichotomously classified as either primarily descriptive or experimental. Qualitative studies were classified by type of qualitative methods specified by the authors. Most papers (97.6%) were classified as quantitative. Only three journals reviewed published qualitative studies.

Conducting research, evaluating research, and publishing scholarly works all play an extremely prominent role for university faculty members. Tenure and promotion decisions are greatly influenced by the perceived value of publications as viewed by members of faculty evaluation committees. Faculty members seeking tenure may be limited to publishing in a limited group of journals perceived to be valuable by members of an academic committee. This study attempted to determine the value of various kinds of periodicals (journals, magazines, and e-journals), based on three principal criteria, as perceived by professionals (university faculty, K-12 practitioners, and corporate trainers) in the educational/instructional technology (E/IT) field. The criteria for journal evaluation were Academic Prestige, General Reading, and Classroom Use. The perceived value of journals based on each criterion was compared to determine any significant differences. Members of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) were asked to rate 30 journals in the E/IT field using the three criteria. Statistically significant differences were found among ratings in 63% of the journals. The statistical analyses indicated that differences in the perceived value of journals among E/IT professionals across the three criteria (Academic Prestige, General Reading, and Classroom Use) were statistically significant. It is also noted that refereed journals were rated higher than nonrefereed journals for the Academic Prestige criterion. Survey respondents indicated that individual journals were not valued for the same reasons. This finding implies that the formation of any equitable measure for determining the value of faculty members' journal article publications would be best if based on definable criteria determined by colleagues. Lists of valued journals for each area of faculty assessment would provide standards of excellence both inside and outside the E/IT field for those who serve on tenure and promotion committees in educational institutions.

The epistemological and ontological orientations relevant for this research are positivism, interpretivism and pragmatism. These paradigms of inquiry are associated with quantitatively oriented research traditions, qualitatively oriented research traditions and mixed methods research respectively. Researchers who use mixed methods build on the strengths of quantitative and qualitative methods and minimize their weaknesses. Since educational research is primarily evidence-based, the aim of the study was to explore the extent to which mixed methods research was reflected in two eminent South African educational research journals during the 11 year period, 2000 to 2010. To this end 1392 articles were analysed. Of the research articles published in the two journals, 17.8% and 15.1% respectively reported on the use of mixed methods. Quantitative methods dominated between 2000 and 2002, followed by a paradigm war in 2003 to 2007, and mainly qualitative methods from 2008 onwards. Mixed methods research was mostly used in the educational domains of didactics (inclusive of curriculum studies), management and social studies. The most dominant themes investigated in these fields were related to curricula and the NQF/OBE, transformation, staff diversity, e-learning and other teaching methods. The need to develop mixed methods research in all branches of social research in South Africa is indicated.

This exploratory and descriptive study provides an increased understanding of the topics being explored in both published research and industry reporting in the field of educational technology. Although literature in the field is plentiful, the task of synthesizing the information for practical use is a massive undertaking. Latent semantic analysis was used to review journal abstracts from ten highly respected journals and the New Media Consortium Horizon Reports to identify trends within the publications. As part of the analysis, 25 topics and technologies were identified in the combined corpus of academic journals and Horizon Reports. The journals tended to focus on pedagogical issues whereas the Horizon Reports tended to focus on technological aspects in education. In addition to differences between publication types, trends over time are also described. Findings may assist researchers, practitioners, administrators, and policy makers with decision-making in their respective educational areas.

This is a comparative study of four academic journals in mathematics education: one key journal from China, Journal of Mathematics Education (JME), and the other three English-language international journals Educational Studies in Mathematics (ESM), Journal for Research in Mathematics Education (JRME) and For the Learning of Mathematics (FLM). The researcher compared a sample consisting of three consecutive issues of the four journals over a time period within the year 2009. All articles were read in their original language of publication (Chinese or English). Additionally, members of the editorial boards of the journals were interviewed. This study consists of three parts: 1) Content analysis (Krippendorff, 1980; Stemler, 2001) of the articles from the sample. 2)Qualitative analysis of interviews (Kavle, 1996; McNamara, 1999) with members of the editorial boards of the four journals. 3)Textual analysis (Mckee, 2003; Truex, 1996) of the four journals These three parts were considered together to build an ‘intellectual map’ (Jobert, 1996) for cross-cultural comparison. Using these three perspectives, the researcher was able to offer a more comprehensive view of the cultural and individual differences than a single perspective would give. The purposes of this study were: To help Chinese mathematics education researchers understand the requirements and expectations of English-language international journals so that they can begin to publish in these journals more widely. To encourage Chinese and Western researchers to read about one another’s research and promote the exchange of ideas. Results indicate that authors for Chinese journal come from more varied professional backgrounds than those writing for the English-language journals. Many articles in Chinese journal do not use any clearly-stated research methodology, in contrast to most articles in the Western journals. No significant differences are found in the topics in published articles. However, the three English-language journals are different from one other in terms of author characteristics, topic types and methodologies. All of these differences relate to the different cultural backgrounds in which the journals were embedded. The conclusions include discussions about academic cultural differences and implications for future studies. This study provides a new dimension in cross-cultural comparative investigation.

The ability to make and record scientific observations is critical in order for students to engage in successful inquiry, and provides a sturdy foundation for children to develop higher order cognitive processes. Nevertheless, observation is taken for granted in the elementary classroom. This study explores how linking school garden experience with the use of science journals can support this skill. Students participated in a month-long unit in which they practiced their observation skills in the garden and recorded those observations in a science journal. Students' observational skills were assessed using pre- and post-assessments, student journals, and student interviews using three criteria: Accuracy, Detail, and Quantitative Data. Statistically significant improvements were found in the categories of Detail and Quantitative Data. Scores did improve in the category of Accuracy, but it was not found to be a statistically significant improvement.

AbstractEducational research expanded rapidly in the twentieth century. This expansion drove the interested “amateurs” out of the field; the scientific community of peers became the dominant point of orientation. Authorship and authority became more widely distributed; peer review was institutionalized to monitor the flow of ideas within the scientific literature; reference lists in journals demonstrated the adoption of cumulative ideals about science. The historical analysis of education journals presented in this chapter looks at the social changes which contributed to the ascent of an “imagined” community of expert peers in the course of the twentieth century. This analysis also helps us in imagining ways in which improvements to the present academic evaluative culture can be made.

AbstractThis chapter sets out to explore the research field of open, distance, and digital education (ODDE) building upon the 3 M-Framework developed in the context of distance education along three broad lines of research: ODDE systems and theories (global macro-level); management, organization, and technology (institutional meso-level); and teaching and learning in ODDE (individual micro-level). Based on various bibliographic analyses, the flow of research areas and trends is described. The COVID-19 pandemic is discussed as a turning point that already has a huge impact on research and practice of the entire field of ODDE. According to thematic similarities and dissimilarities in the academic fields of educational technology (EdTech), distance education (DE), and instructional design (ID), four clusters of academic journals are identified with different thematic foci in various educational contexts. This information can be used to guide researchers to choose an appropriate journal in which to submit their work.

AbstractThis chapter provides an overview of the strategies and responses to the educational challenges in Japan caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Systematic content analyses revealed an increase in the frequency of keywords (1) Global and Innovation Gateway for All (GIGA) school and (2) online education/online classroom in Japanese academic journals when the years 2019 and 2020 were compared. The GIGA School is a government-led project aiming to digitize education in primary and secondary education, and the promotion of the GIGA school project with infrastructure development as well as shifts to online education at all levels of education during the pandemic in Japan were found. Furthermore, the National Institute of Informatics has been hosting weekly online webinars to share the information pertaining to strategies and tips for effective online education, especially for higher education, since March 2020. In addition to government-led reactions, professional academic societies of educational technology have played an important role in maintaining effective education and learning, even during the pandemic. The case of the Japan Society for Educational Technology (JSET) has been presented to show the background of online education in Japan. The experiences of all researchers, practitioners, and students during the pandemic can provide an opportunity to upgrade our educational system for learning to be more effective and resistant to emergencies, regardless of the in-person or online application of the technology.

AbstractThe COVID-19 pandemic complicated the field experience component of teacher preparation because of K-12 school closures. To address these challenges, South Mountain University adopted a virtual classroom simulation, simSchool, in which students take on the role of teachers and interact with virtual students. The purpose of this self-study was to explore both the teacher and student perspectives in the initial implementation of simSchool in a secondary education methods course. Data collected for the study include simSchool performance reports, professor and student journals, student reflections, and student focus groups. Findings indicated that students required a more comprehensive introduction to and rationale for the use of the virtual simulation, more chunking of the training materials, and additional debriefing time after each of the modules. Students needed perseverance and resilience to make the sim work meaningful and had to be open to receiving feedback. Technology was initially a barrier but became less so as students spent more time in the sim. Ultimately the students perceived the sim as beneficial to their growth and development as teachers.

The paper problematizes the current situation and development perspectives of social science journals in Serbia in the context of global (international) and national interests. Scientific articles in national social science journals are commonly the most prevalent form of dissemination and production of scientific knowledge, standpoints and views, a clear indicator of research excellence of university teachers, as well as the indicator of the quality of scientific journals, and the quality of scientific research in general. Therefore, it is not surprising that national and global interests and values intertwine in the domain of national journals. The reference framework for the analysis of selected issues is placed within the range of existing scientometric and bibliometric research, as well as the legislation referring to scientific research, manner and procedures for the evaluation of research results, and election to academic titles. The analysis we conducted led to the general conclusion that national social science journals are in a gap between the national and global context. Although their significance is beyond question, by promoting national and cultural values and interests, they exist as insufficiently competitive and globally invisible media for transfer and valorization of scientific knowledge in the academic community. In addition to analyzing the implications of the current education policies, editorial policies of the journals and strategic solutions aimed at raising and evaluating the quality of national social science journals, and integrating them into global information system trends, the paper also proposes potential directions for further development of national social science journals as a prerequisite for raising scientific productivity in the domain of social sciences.

When Michael Hart initiated his ambitious Gutenberg project of computer re-writing essential literature books, in 1971, sure it was very difficult to imagine our today dependency of digital devices and social media. To type on the those time typewriter devices the basic scholarly novels it was a difficult option for a 24 years man, proven a visionary thinking to the people future access. It was ten years before the lunching the IBM PC's, and Internet Protocols, in a time of the firsts text editors... Twenty years before the first World Wide Web real demo ... But Michael Hart succeeded to build a community of volunteers, delivering free the project results, digital books (through floppies, diskettes, tapes, and later on CD-ROM, or DVDs. Gutenberg project arrived as a model for many libraries to save their depots and manuscripts. Networking and Internet services (email and FTP) already gave new solutions for distribution and visibility of Gutenberg project, for access to digital books. For scientists it was another need, the better access to the scientific publications, an easier way to publish their results. Consequently, quite in the same time when CERN accepted to finance the Tim Berners Lee proposal, the firsts signs of a movement for open access publications are registered. As a nice example, PACS Review (Public Access Computer Science Review), at the Houston University, prepared and announced in 1989, with its first 3 numbers in 1990. A journal delivered as ASCII file, by email, later through a Gopher server, and finally-from 1995 on-line, through the Houston University Web server (HTML, or ASCII format). PACS Review publication stops in 2000. Since 1995 a really peer revue, quality, open journal was launched by Cristian Calude, Herman Maurer, Arto Salomaa at Graz University, called JUCS - ,,Journal of Universal Computer Science". A journal with very regular publication till now. There are, of course, a lot of other interesting examples of electronic (digital) open access journals, in different fields. A new step in this evolution was done through the development of the open source tools for the management of such digital journals into the Web server infrastructure. It was done by the initiative and efforts of John Willinsky, through his PKP - Public Knowledge Project - a multi-university initiative developing free open source software and conducting research to improve the quality and reach of scholarly publishing. PKP was founded in 1998 at the Education Faculty of UBC, with the aim to improve the research quality. Another important steps necessary to count of are the 2002 Budapest Open Access Initiative, and the MIT university decision to publish their course materials, generating the corresponding consortium. As an answer to Budapest Open Access Initiative, it is the developing of an on-line catalog of Open Access Journals - DOAJ (build and maintained by Lars Bjornshauge from 2003 until 2013 at the Lund University, recently moved at Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association - OASPA. Into this catalog there are included now about 10.000 Open Access Journals. Of course that in such a paper it isn't possible to escape the competition, more a less a battle between Online Open-Access journals and traditional ones. As well to discus the issue of fake publishers or publishers not living up to reasonable standards both in terms of content and of business behavior. Does all this Open Access movement change a bit the perspectives concerning the transformation of the teachers role in the "Web 2.0 Era" ?

We live in an era of communications and electronics. Everything is developing very rapidly every day. People need be informed fast, short and to the point. Our eyes began to be more careful in front of a computer or in front of a screen than before a newspaper or a magazine. I would dare affirm that the era of printed paper is nearby. Thus, in order to encounter these needs, databases were created. These are packages of information, tools and services that carry new discoveries from all fields of specialty. Databases are in electronic format, and stored on electronic media (CD-ROM) or can be accessible via the Internet. These include hundreds of prestigious professional journals and magazines, including an archive with the numbers of these from previous years, thousands of full articles, original and / or revised, abstracts, reviews, photos, description journals, bibliographic data, links to other articles or related databases, diverse queries on news published in a particular area (i.e. automatically receiving of emails for a specific item from a certain area). Periodical databases can be accessed by any person in any institution such as a library, university, organization, and so on, in front of available computers connected to the database with a password. Access to databases can be done simultaneously by several users from the same institution and simultaneously with other users who have purchased these databases. Interested institutions acquire a number of important databases in order to provide to their users access to new and prestigious sources of information. From scientifically point of view, this type of documentation processes has an important role in information, documentation and research. The advantage of regular databases are numerous: those interested can keep up with the latest information in different areas on national or international level, quickly get information to readers, can be accessed by multiple people simultaneously.

The impact of technologies in all areas is one of the main points that characterize the current society. In the educational context, recently, great efforts are being made to adapt the system to characteristics and needs of the students of the 21st century. Gamification in education consist on the use of structures, characteristics, dynamics and aesthetics of games for educational purposes, to increase students participation and motivation. The escape room is a gamified activity in which one or more teams must leave a place during a limited time solving a challenge whose goal is learning. This study pretends to analyze research trends through a bibliometric study of scientific production deposited in Scopus. 32 articles were obtained for the analysis. The results indicate an increase in scientific publications in last decade, and the main mean of dissemination are journals, specially in Social Sciences field. In addition, data shows the low impact and the absence of medium and large producers. Finally, the weight of Spain highlights and the implementation of escape rooms in the Higher Education stage stands out too.

Printed educational materials (PEMs), including clinical guidelines, monographs and publications in peer-reviewed journals, are common channels to distribute recommendations for clinical care and evidence to inform the practice of healthcare providers. PEMs are used across a range of settings as a strategy to improve professional practice and healthcare outcomes through promoting clinical practices that have been shown to be beneficial and discouraging the use of ineffective interventions. The wide use of PEMs in many settings, particularly in the form of clinical guidelines, is linked to the fact that they are seen as familiar, accessible, relatively inexpensive and convenient.

The article deals with the problem of the use of electronic open journal systems in scientific and pedagogical research as well as the formation of ICT competence of researchers on the use of such systems. The concepts of electronic journal system (EJS) are considered. The most common kinds of electronic journal systems are revealed (proprietary, local (in-house), open and cloud journal systems). The criteria for accessing the effectiveness of the electronic open journal systems (EOJS) use in scientific and pedagogical research are described (normative, organizational and communication, effective), as well as their indicators. The organizational and pedagogical model of EOJS use in scientific and pedagogical researches is developed. The definition of "ICT competence of researchers on the use of EOJS in scientific and pedagogical research" is provided; its components are described; criteria (axiological, cognitive, praxeological, adaptive) and indicators of its formation are defined. The model of formation of this competence is provided. The main stages of the experimental process (2010–2018) are described. The results of the formation of ICT-competence of researchers and information-analytical monitoring of the scientific journals of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine are presented.

This project aims to appraise evidence of the effectiveness of various practices on reducing stress, anxiety, and depression among parents of infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The project contains six research articles from both national and international journals. Study designs include one meta-analysis, one randomized controlled trial, one small scale randomized controlled trial, one prospective phase lag cohort study, on pretest-posttest study, and one mixed-methods pretest-posttest study. Recommendations for effective interventions were based on best evidence discovered through quality appraisal and study outcomes. All interventions, except for educational programs and Kangaroo Care, resulted in a statistically significant reduction of either stress, anxiety, and/ or depression. Family centered care and mindfulness-based intervention reduced all barriers of interest. There is strong and high-quality evidence for the effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on depression, moderate evidence for the effect of activity-based group therapy on anxiety, and promising evidence for the effect of HUG Your Baby on stress.

Academic publishing processes are shaped by the ways in which scholars within the field review and evaluate the work of their peers. In an ideal world, these methods would simply promote the publication of the best forms of research without prejudice or subjectivity. In reality, issues such as Knobloch-Westerwick, Glynn, and Huge’s Matilda effect, Merton’s Matthew effect, Blank’s institution bias, and Robert’s and Verhoef’s gender bias shape the ways that scholarly inquiry are evaluated. Knowing that the peer review process can introduce issues of bias, what then of other aspects of the publishing cycle? For example, what of the subvention funding provided by some institutions to support their faculty in pursuing dissemination of research in Open Access (OA) journals? This Open Educational Resource (OER) will present an overview of the OA landscape and provide learners with tools to develop their own inquiries into the inequities present within the OA publishing industry. All assignments include suggested grading rubrics and build upon one another in a cumulative manner.

The article deals with the actual issue of the specificity and algorithm of the introduction of innovative AR technologies in the process of psychological and pedagogical support of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). An innovative element of theoretical and methodological analysis of the problem and empirical research is the detection of vectors of a constructive combination of traditional psycho-correctional and psycho-diagnostic approaches with modern AR technologies. The analysis of publications on the role and possibilities of using AR technologies in the process of support children with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and inclusive environment was generally conducted by surfing on the Internet platforms containing the theoretical bases for data publications of scientific journals and patents. The article also analyzes the priorities and potential outcomes of using AR technologies in psycho-correction and educational work with autistic children. According to the results of the analysis of scientific researches, Unified clinical protocol of primary, secondary (specialized), tertiary (highly specialized) medical care and medical rehabilitation “Autism spectrum disorders (disorders of general development)”, approaches for correction, development and education of children with ASD, AR technologies were selected for further implementation in a comprehensive program of psychological and pedagogical support for children with ASD. The purpose of the empirical study is the search, analysis and implementation of multifunctional AR technologies in the psycho-correctional construct of psychological and pedagogical support of children with ASD. According to the results of the pilot study, the priorities and effectiveness of using AR technologies in the development of communicative, cognitive, emotional-volitional, mnemonic abilities of children and actualization of adaptive potential and adaptive, socially accepted behaviors are made. The possibilities and perspectives of using AR technologies as an element of inclusive environment, with regard to nosology and phenomenology, need further investigation.

The subject of the study is the cooperation of S. Efremov with Western Ukrainian periodicals as a page in the history of Ukrainian journalism which covers the relationship of journalists and scientists of Eastern and Western Ukraine at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Research methods (biographical, historical, comparative, axiological, statistical, discursive) develop the comprehensive disclosure of the article. As a result of scientific research, the origins of Ukrainocentrism in the personality of S. Efremov were clarified; his person as a public figure, journalist, publisher, literary critic is multifaceted; taking into account the specifics of the memoir genre and with the involvement of the historical context, the turning points in the destiny of the author of memoirs are interpreted, revealing cooperation with Western Ukrainian magazines and newspapers. The publications ‘Zoria’, ‘Narod’, ‘Pravda’, ‘Bukovyna’, ‘Dzvinok’, are secretly got into sub-Russian Ukraine, became for S. Efremov a spiritual basis in understanding the specifics of the national (Ukrainian) mass media, ideas of education in culture of Ukraine at the end of XIX century, its territorial integrity, and state independence. Memoirs of S. Efremov on cooperation with the iconic Galician journals ‘Notes of the Scientific Society after the name Shevchenko’ and ‘Literary-Scientific Bulletin’, testify to an important stage in the formation of the author’s worldview, the expansion of the genre boundaries of his journalism, active development as a literary critic. S. Yefremov collaborated most fruitfully and for a long time with the Literary-Scientific Bulletin, and he was impressed by the democratic position of this publication. The author’s comments reveal a long-running controversy over the publication of a review of the new edition of Kobzar and thematically related discussions around his other literary criticism, in which the talent of the demanding critic was forged. S. Efremov steadfastly defended the main principles of literary criticism: objectivity and freedom of author’s thought. The names of the allies of the Ukrainian idea L. Skochkovskyi, O. Lototskyi, O. Konyskyi, P. Zhytskyi, M. Hrushevskyi in S. Efremov’s memoirs unfold in multifaceted portrait descriptions and function as historical and cultural facts that document the pages of the author’s biography, record his activities in space and time. The results of the study give grounds to characterize S. Efremov as the first professional Ukrainian-speaking journalist.

The amount of scientific information has been growing exponentially. It became more complicated to process and systemize this amount of unstructured data. The approach to systematization of scientific information based on the ontological IT platform Transdisciplinary Ontological Dialogs of Object-Oriented Systems (TODOS) has many benefits. It has been proposed to select semantic characteristics of each work for their further introduction into the IT platform TODOS. An ontological graph with a ranking function for previous scientific research and for a system of selection of journals has been worked out. These systems provide high performance of information management of scientific information.

The purpose of document is to provide readers with the coding protocol that authors used to code 76 meta-analyses focused on students with or at-risk of disabilities. All of the included meta-analyses provided a summary statistic related to at least one of the High Leverage Practices (HLPs; McLeskey et al., 2017). ). The purpose of the systematic review of meta-analyses was to provide an initial investigation of the evidence supporting the effectiveness of the HLPs for students with, or at-risk for, a disability. This code book contains variable names, code options, and code definitions related to basic study information (i.e., authors, year of publication, journal), the details of each study, participant demographics, HLPs included in each study, and summary statistics. The mean interrater reliability across all codes using this protocol was 88% (range across categories = 84%–97%)

Over the past two and a half decades, significant progress has been made in relation to girls’ education in Ethiopia. However, challenges remain, particularly in terms of girls’ progression, completion, and learning, with girls in more rural and remote areas facing the greatest difficulties. Drawing on data from the RISE Ethiopia qualitative study, we explore the factors at the individual, family, school, and community levels that impact girls’ education and learning from the perspectives of girls themselves. Specifically, we include the views of 15 female students enrolled in Grades 4 and 5 of primary school and of their parents/caregivers from five different regional states in Ethiopia, and across both rural and urban locations. We situate our analysis within the context of the government’s large-scale quality education reform programme (GEQIP-E) that has a specific focus on girls’ education. Our findings highlight the importance of taking account of the heterogeneity of girls’ experiences, including the varied challenges that diverse groups of girls face, and the different challenges they may encounter at distinct stages of their educational journeys. Our findings also highlight the importance of including the perspectives of girls and their families, within the context in which they are located.
