L’insegnamento scolastico della religione nell’Unione Europea obbedisce a una vastíssima gamma di contesti diversi: diversità di sistemi educativi, di rapporti tra Stato e Chiese, di storie religiose nazionali. La legittimazione dei corsi dipende a volte dalla Costituzione, a volte da concordati, a volte dalle Chiese in collaborazione con lo Stato. Nell’ultimo ventennio è stato rilevante anche il “magistero laico” degli organismi europei, che insistono sul ruolo civico, etico dell’istruzione religiosa, ai fini di una educazione alla convivenza pacifica nella diversità crescente delle fedi religiose e delle convinzioni non religiose. Al di là delle differenze confessionali, coesistono diversi modelli didattici di istruzione religiosa: istruzione nella fede, a partire dalla religione, sulla religione, al di fuori della religione. La Pedagogia e la Didattica delle religioni sono oggetto di continua ricerca e sperimentazione nella facoltà teologiche e negli Istituti superiori di Scienze della religione e della formazione.

Riassunto L’articolo si focalizza sui nuovi movimenti nazionalisti che si stanno affermando politicamente nell’Unione Europea e sulla battaglia che essi conducono contro la diversità religiosa, sempre più visibile nelle società europee, ritenuta una minaccia all’identità cristiana dell’Europa. L’islam è, perciò, diventato, un oggetto polemico (nel senso del polemos, la guerra ideologica che divide drammaticamente la società) nel discorso politico. Tramite tale discorso si tende a costruire una narrazione collettiva convincente: una società troppo diversa dal punto di vista religioso non è sostenibile.

L'immigrazione, e la diversità che ne consegue, pone una nuova questione urbana. Guardando al contesto veneto, questo studio approfondisce le relazioni tra gover- no del territorio, pianificazione spaziale e diritti di cittadinanza, in particolare quello di libertà religiosa. La ricerca considera le strategie messe in atto dalle amministrazioni in risposta alla crescente domanda di spazi per il culto non cattolici e quindi discute il ruolo della pianificazione in tali processi di localizzazione.

Partimos do pressuposto de que o Ensino Religioso assegura o respeito à diversidade cultural religiosa, enquanto as Ciências das Religiões visam compreender o fenômeno religioso em suas dimensões e formar o professor/a para ministrar nas escolas na perspectiva da diversidade cultural religiosa. A metodologia de investigação foi à pesquisa descritiva, bibliográfica e fontes documentais. Palavras-chave: Ensino Religioso. Ciências das Religiões. Formação e Docência. Abstract: Our goal is an analysis of the dialogue between Religious Teaching and Sciences of the Religions in João Pessoa -Paraibanowadays.We start from the assumption that Religious Teaching assures respect for cultural religious diversity, while the Sciences of the Religions seek to comprehend the religious phenomenon in its dimensions. Sciences of Religions also educate teachers for ministering in classroom from the perspective of religious diversity. IntroduzioneDopo essere divenuto il simbolo dell'ondata di democratizzazione seguita alla fine della Guerra fredda, il Sudafrica è tornato alla ribalta soprattutto per i drammatici problemi che lo travagliano, legati alla crescita della povertà e della criminalità e alla diffusione dell'Aids. È significativo che la rivista Daedalus, nel dedicargli il numero invernale del 2001, abbia ritenuto di intitolarlo Why South Africa Matters. In realtà, il nuovo Sudafrica continua a costituire un laboratorio unico nel suo genere: le differenze che lo attraversano (che sembrano replicare su scala ridotta quelle esistenti a livello globale) e il carattere fondamentalmente «occidentale» delle sue istituzioni — radicato in una lunga tradizione di electoral politics e nella continuità della rule of law, a cui si deve in gran parte il carattere pacifico della transizione dall'apartheid (Nhlapo 1996; Friedman 1996) — ne fanno un punto di osservazione assai suggestivo per chi sia interessato al futuro del modello democratico nelle società contemporanee, sempre più profondamente caratterizzate dalla diversità culturale, linguistica e religiosa.

L’obiettivo di questo articolo è quello di dimostrare la diversità de prospettive della dottrina sociale della Chiesa su i diritti umani. Sottolinea la prospettiva personalista come la più appropriata per comprendere e giustificare l’interesse generale della dottrina sociale per il tema e l’affermazione dei diritti umani. La Chiesa vede nei diritti umani l’opportunità di promuovere e difendere l’universalità della dignità umana, intesa come carattere stampato da Dio creatore per le sue creature. La prospettiva antropologico-cristiana ha per fondamento la persona umana creata a immagine e somiglianza di Dio. La dottrina sociale della Chiesa, mostra una pluralità di dimensioni, essenziali per definire chi è l’essere umano, e, a sua volta, per la promozione e la difesa della dignità umana di fronte alle istituzioni giuridiche, politiche ed economiche. I diritti umani e la dottrina sociale hanno in Giovanni Paolo II uno dei principali teorici. I diritti umani sono un punto di riferimento per tutte le fasi della vita umana e dei contesti politici, sociali, economici e di culturali. Fonte e sintesi dei diritti umani è il diritto alla vita e il diritto alla libertà religiosa.

Resumo A obra A Viagem de Théo: Romance das Religiões, de autoria da filósofa Catherine Clément, narra a jornada espiritual do personagem Théodore Fournay (Théo), um jovem francês que sofre de uma grave doença e que, convidado por sua tia Marthe, viaja para diversos continentes, visitando templos e centros sagrados, adquirindo conhecimento sobre outras culturas e sobre algumas das religiões praticadas no mundo, em busca de uma ajuda espiritual. A obra demonstra a diversidade religiosa existente no mundo e de como o ser humano tem se dado conta disso, principalmente devido ao efeito da globalização. Essa diversidade tem gerado estudos e chamado a atenção de teólogos, antropólogos, cientistas da religião e de estudiosos de outros campos do conhecimento. Buscou-se, neste artigo, uma análise da obra A Viagem de Théo, apontando os elementos que remetem às ideias de pluralismo religioso e suas implicações. A obra aborda o divino por meio da linguagem literária e, por retratar aspectos de diversas religiões, aponta que o diálogo inter-religioso ou interfé envolve respeito e abertura para falar e ouvir, a aprender com o outro, a conscientizar de que o diálogo envolve pessoas e não determinada religião ou instituição religiosa. Tais premissas despertam uma reflexão sobre a forma de ser cristão pelo viés da polidoxia, que reconhece a diversidade dentro da religião cristã como também a pluralidade de comunidades religiosas e espirituais do mundo.Abstract Theo’s Journey: Romance of religions, authored by the philosopher Catherine Clément, narrates the spiritual journey of the character Théodore Fournay (Théo), a young French who suffers from a serious illness and, at the invitation of his aunt Marthe, they travel to different continents, visiting temples and sacred centers, acquiring knowledge about other cultures and some religious practiced in the world, seeking spiritual help. The book demonstrates the religious diversity that exists in the world and how human beings have become aware of it, mainly due to the effect of globalization. This diversity has generated studies and has drawn attention of theologians, anthropologists, scientists of religion and the theoristis from other fields of knowledge. Through this article we seek an analysis of the work The Theo’s Journey , pointing out the elements that refer to the ideas of Religious Pluralism and its implications. The Journey of Theo, which beyond the description of some aspects of various religions, approached the divine through literary language, and points out that interreligious or interfaith dialogue should be faced with respect and openness to talk and listen, learn from each other, aware that dialogue involves people, religious or otherwise, and not a particular religion or religious institution. Such premises arouse a reflection on the way of being Christian through the bias of polidoxy, which recognizes the diversity within the Christian religion as well as the plurality of religious and spiritual communities in the world.

Este artigo pretende introduzir o leitor a importância de se trabalhar em sala de aula a valorização da liberdade religiosa. Buscamos trabalhar as questões relacionadas às culturas, tema central das discussões educacionais na vida contemporânea. A complexidade das relações, tensões e conflitos na sociedade atual, leva-nos a pesquisar de forma mais profunda as possibilidades de atuação dos docentes em incorporarem as identidades plurais, políticas e inter-religiosas no ambiente de educação. O Brasil é um país rico em diversidade étnica, cultural, religiosa e imigrante. Contudo, ao longo de nossa história, têm existido preconceitos, relações de discriminação e exclusão social que impedem muitos brasileiros de terem uma vivência plena de cidadania plural crítica e participativa. Assim, enfatizamos que a disciplina de Ensino Religioso, ensinada através da concepção da liberdade religiosa pode contribuir para uma educação que vise o respeito às diferenças.This article intends to introduce the reader to the importance of working in the classroom to value religious freedom. We seek to work on issues related to cultures, the central theme of educational discussions in contemporary life. The complexity of relationships, tensions and conflicts in today's society leads us to research in a deeper way the possibilities of teachers to incorporate plural, political and interreligious identities in the education environment. Brazil is a country rich in ethnic, cultural, religious and immigrant diversity. However, throughout our history, there have been prejudices, relations of discrimination and social exclusion that prevent many Brazilians from having a full experience of critical and participatory plural citizenship. Thus, we emphasize that the discipline of Religious Teaching taught through the conception of religious freedom can contribute to an education that aims at respecting differences.

ResumoBaseado em recorte de pesquisa desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação apresentado à Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, o estudo investigou como a laicidade do Estado brasileiro e a diversidade religiosa foram abordadas nos Encontros de Metodologia e Filosofia de Ensino Religioso nas tricentenárias cidades de Ouro Preto e Mariana (MG). A formação era oferecida aos professores de ensino religioso das redes pública e privada pela Secretaria de Estado da Educação/SRE Ouro Preto e Arquidiocese de Mariana. Adotou-se análise qualitativa, pesquisa documental, observação-participante, entrevista semiestruturada e questionários para identificar a proposta pedagógica das reuniões e compreender e analisar como a diversidade religiosa e o conceito de Estado laico eram abordados. Os resultados mostraram que a diversidade religiosa não foi respeitada, o Estado não regulou tais práticas pedagógicas e que as formações podem ser consideradas inadequadas para formação de professores, considerando os princípios da escola pública e laica.Palavras-chave: Ensino Religioso; Laicidade; Diversidade Religiosa.Secularity of Education in question: religious education meetings in Ouro Preto and Mariana citiesAbstractBased on part of a research carried cut in the Graduate Program in Education presented to the Federal University of Ouro Preto, the study investigated how the secular nature of the Brazilian State and religious diversity were addressed in the Methodology Meetings and Religious Teaching of Philosophy in the three hundred years cities of Ouro Preto and Mariana (MG). The training was offered to religious education teachers in public and private schools by the Ministry of Education/SRE Ouro Preto and Mariana Archdiocese. It was adopted a qualitative analysis, documentary research, participant observation, semi-structured interviews and questionnaires to identify the pedagogical proposal of the meetings and understand and analyze how religious diversity and the concept of secular state were addressed. The results showed that religious diversity is not respected, the state did not regulate such teaching practices and that training may be considered inadequate teacher training, considering the principles of public and secular school.Keywords: Religious Education; Secularity; Religious Diversity.

Resultando evidentes las desigualdades por razónde sexo existentes en el ámbito del fenómeno religioso dentro yfuera de nuestras fronteras, se antoja sobradamente interesanteafrontar el desafío jurídico de estudiar, en el contexto de la diversidadreligiosa, el papel de la mujer y su posible discriminación o noen dicho ámbito en nuestra España del siglo xxi. Dentro de la inmensadimensión que abarca el referido fenómeno, nos centraremosen los conflictos en los que sean parte los intereses de la mujercuando se desarrollen en el ámbito de las principales confesionescon arraigo en nuestro país. El objetivo principal de este estudioha sido describir los más importantes conflictos acaecidos y en losque se observa discriminación de la mujer en el ámbito religioso, asaber, principalmente el debate suscitado en torno al porte del veloislámico, pero también otras posibles discriminaciones en el ámbitoreligioso: los delitos de odio por razón de género en el ámbitoreligioso, el acceso a los puestos de autoridad eclesiástica por partede las mujeres en las distintas confesiones religiosas, la mutilacióngenital femenina…, dejando palpable la necesaria exigencia deigualdad de género que consideramos debería existir en el ámbitode la diversidad religiosa. Finalmente, vamos a plantear en este estudioaquello que, a nuestro entender, puede ser exigible a los Estados,y más concretamente al Estado español, para garantizar launiversalidad de los derechos de las mujeres en el marco de las religiones.Being evident the inequalities by reason of sex existingin the scope of the religious phenomenon inside and outsideour borders, it seems very interesting to face the legal challenge ofstudying, in the context of religious diversity, the role of womenand their possible discrimination or not in this area in our Spain ofthe xxi Century. Within the immense dimension encompassed bythis phenomenon, we will focus on the conflicts in which the interestsof women are part when they develop within the scope of themain confessions rooted in our country. The main objective of thisstudy has been to describe the most important conflicts that haveoccurred and in which there is discrimination against women inthe religious sphere, namely, mainly the debate about the wearingof the Islamic headscarf, but also other possible discriminations inthe religious sphere: hate crimes on the grounds of gender in thereligious sphere, access to positions of ecclesiastical authority bywomen in different religious confessions, female genital mutilation..., leaving palpable the necessary requirement of equality of genderthat we believe should exist in the area of religious diversity. Finally,we will propose in this study that which, in our opinion, maybe required from the States, and more specifically from the SpanishState, to guarantee the universality of women’s rights withinthe framework of religions.

Il tema della religione, rilevante per le sue molteplici valenze (identità, cultura, regole di vita, sfera valoriale), interessa il mondo del lavoro, in quanto luogo quotidiano e significativo d’incontro, di accoglienza, di conoscenza, di confronto, di integrazione. Questo studio si pone in maniera inter e trans-disciplinare mettendo in relazione gli studi e le riflessioni più recenti sul tema che aprono prospettive nuove agli orientamenti tradizionali provenienti dalla sociologia delle religioni, del lavoro e delle organizzazioni, con le istanze e gli interrogativi dei giuslavoristi. Il caso italiano viene quindi presentato in dialogo con i riferimenti teorici maggiormente significativi provenienti soprattutto da Paesi a più lunga e consolidata tradizione immigratoria. Le questioni relative all’oggetto di analisi si pongono sostanzialmente nell’ambito del lavoro dipendente e, sono già presenti in diversi accordi aziendali. L'analisi comparativa, pur nella diversità di norme che regolano il lavoro nei singoli Stati, evidenzia una base comune di quattro punti: • festività religiose e giorno di riposo settimanale; • tempi, spazi e modalità della preghiera; • cibo delle mense aziendali (selezione di alimenti, tempi e periodi di digiuno); • abito religioso, identità visiva e comunicazione. Partendo dal presupposto che è proprio del management supportare l’integrazione, la non discriminazione per credo religioso, bensì la messa in pratica di azioni favorevoli alla sua espressione in quanto centrali dell’identità dei lavoratori, la ricerca intende integrare, partendo dalla già difficile questione terminologica e di espressione sociale, i principali e più recenti studi internazionali sul tema, le questioni aperte soprattutto in Francia, Germania e Italia e aggiungere qualche nuova acquisizione sui già studiati CCNL italiani e accordi sindacali sull’integrazione di lavoratori con differenti identità religiose. Segue una parte empirica che, con l'intervista semi strutturata, intende dare voce ad alcuni dei principali studiosi italiani e stranieri. Un dialogo a distanza a cui hanno preso parte Massimo Ambrosini, Hicham Benaissa, Hugo Gaillard, Géraldine Galindo, Lionel Honoré, Massimiliano Monaci, Paul Morris, Vincenzo Pacillo, Pierfrancesco Stagi, Jochen Töpfer, Jean-Christophe Volia e Laura Zanfrini. E per valutare l'incidenza del tema su più vasta scala si riportano anche i punti di vista, raccolti direttamente e talora contraddittori, di alcuni noti pensatori contemporanei tra i quali Noam Chomsky e Peter Singer. Dunque il tema si inserisce nel più ampio quadro del “diversity management” e si confronta con temi delicati, non ultimo la prevenzione della radicalizzazione, che chiamano direttamente in causa e contrappongono il diritto alla sicurezza e quello di libertà religiosa. Gli studi sul tema (Bentivogli 2005; Colombo 2020; Ambrosini 2020) manifestano, inequivocabilmente, che la nostra immigrazione ha una storia recente e che un’indagine non può prescindere dagli studi prodotti in paesi di più lunga storia immigratoria, ad esempio Francia e Germania e dai fondamentali lavori della scuola di Cambridge (Hicks 2003, Syed et al., 2017), tenendo presente il punto di vista di studiosi provenienti da opposte scuole di pensiero.

Questa dissertazione elabora l’insieme di problemi e di sfide che derivano dalla connessione tra la libertà religiosa e la diversità culturale islamica, con particolare attenzione alla realtà dell’Italia. Il nuovo contesto socio-politico mondiale è caratterizzato da un’intensa pluralità culturale, dovuta ad un crescente fenomeno migratorio; è importante quindi cercare di comprendere il valore della libertà religiosa e il significato della diversità culturale. Questi due concetti si intersecano in maniera singolare in contesti democratici e laici propri degli stati europei che non possono privarsi dei principi fondanti delle loro costituzioni, ma che, al contempo sono tenuti a tutelare i diritti umani di ogni singolo individuo. Analizzando la specificità islamica, si rileva come queste considerazioni assumono delle connotazioni particolari. L’islam non è infatti soltanto una religione, ma piuttosto un insieme di codici morali, religiosi, sociali e giuridici che regolano l’intera vita del musulmano. Alcuni principi islamici risultano però non conformi ai valori manifestati dagli stati occidentali che ospitano consistenti comunità di musulmani. Quindi la libertà religiosa, uno dei diritti umani universali, uno dei fondamenti dell’Unione Europea e della democrazia, difesa dagli ordinamenti europei, deve necessariamente rispondere alla sfida islamica. Alcune questioni sollevano alcune difficoltà, in particolare quelle relative alla manifestazione delle pratiche religiose. Alcune sono già state affrontate, per esempio, esistono alcune esperienze a proposito della macellazione rituale ed in parte quella relativa al matrimonio; in tali casi, sarebbe quindi sufficiente adottare le stesse misure. Per quanto concerne altre materie, al contrario, non è ancora stata sviluppata una tendenza uniforme: gli Stati gestiscono la materia della manifestazione religiosa in maniera distinta. È questo il caso della regolamentazione del dibattito sul velo islamico, e più in generale della questione dei simboli religiosi, e quello del rispetto di festività religiose a scuola o in sede di lavoro. Attraverso la lettura di sentenze e di decisioni su casi particolari, la trattazione intende approfondire tali questioni e sollevare possibili soluzioni. L’Italia, che è ha conosciuto i primi flussi migratori relativamente tardi, non ha ancora affrontato in maniera dettagliata alcune questioni che altri stati europei, caratterizzati da una migrazione di più vecchio insediamento, hanno già dovuto esaminare. La dissertazione si divide in tre parti: la prima intende descrivere i caratteri generali relativi al diritto alla libertà religiosa ed alla diversità culturale islamica, con particolare attenzione alla realtà italiana; la seconda parte si occupa di approfondire alcune questioni che derivano dal complicato bilanciamento tra libertà religiosa e diversità culturale; un’ultima parte delinea alcuni elementi che caratterizzano la realtà del Trentino Alto – Adige. Le informazioni ed i dati sono stati tratti da libri, siti internet, riviste e giornali. Grazie alle informazioni raccolte, la dissertazione cerca di capire quali siano i limiti del diritto alla libertà religione con riferimento alla diversità culturale islamica e quali siano le sfide che, a diversi livelli, la comunità internazionale deve saper affrontare e vincere in una realtà multiculturale.

Este trabalho tem como foco o estudo da Fraternidade Cósmica Universal, um grupo sediado na cidade de Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. O grupo realiza encontros entre segmentos religiosos e não religiosos, promovendo o conhecimento, a interação e o diálogo entre as diversas tradições. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi compreender essa dinâmica. Para sua execução foram realizadas visitas ao grupo, observações, participações em suas atividades e entrevistas com seus membros efetivos e visitantes. O resultado encontra-se organizado em três capítulos. No primeiro capítulo serão abordados o diálogo inter-religioso no atual contexto do pluralismo, a questão da identidade, da busca pelo sentido e as novas configurações religiosas. No segundo capítulo serão apresentados a criação e o histórico do grupo, as atividades desenvolvidas pela casa, a dinâmica dos encontros e os espaços físicos onde ocorrem. O terceiro capítulo apresentará os personagens envolvidos nesse processo, suas trajetórias até o grupo e as funções que desempenham na construção de um espaço para o exercício do diálogo inter-religioso e na formação de uma identidade para o grupo. A análise final apresentará os elementos desta dinâmica do diálogo inter-religioso que ocorre na Fraternidade Cósmica Universal.
This research focuses on the study of the Fraternidade Cósmica Universal, a group headquartered in the city of Petropolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The group set up meetings between religious and non-religious segments, promoting knowledge, interaction and dialogue between different traditions. The purpose of this work was to understand this dynamics. For its implementation, visits were done to the group, observations, participation in activities and interviews with its members and visitors. The result of this research is organized into three chapters. In the first chapter will be addressed interfaith dialogue in the current context of pluralism, the question of identity, the search for meaning and new religious settings. In the second chapter will be presented the creation and history of the group, the activities of the home, the dynamics of the meetings and the physical spaces in which they occur. The third chapter introduces the characters involved in this process, their trajectories to the group and the roles they play in the construction of a space for the exercise of interfaith dialogue and the formation of an identity for the group. The final analysis will present the elements of the dynamics of interfaith dialogue that occurs in Fraternidade Cósmica Universal.

O propósito deste trabalho é entender até que ponto a influência da colonização brasileira interfere ou dificulta o entendimento do Ensino Religioso e o relacionamento educador(a) e educando(a) com essa realidade, já que vivemos numa capital, Salvador, com uma diversidade religiosa e cultural, de maioria afrodescendente. Convivemos com uma gama de preconceitos e intolerância religiosa que podem fazer com que as aulas de Ensino Religioso não sejam respeitadas como deveriam, bem como prejudicar a prática educativa, transformando as aulas em espaço de construção de mais preconceitos. Por esta razão, pontuamos a necessidade de uma integração entre a educação, a religião e a cultura para o discernimento entre educador(a) e educando(a), entendendo que cada um possui suas próprias experiências e convicções de vida religiosa e cultural, nas quais tolerância e ética sejam princípios básicos.
The purpose of this research is to understand to what extent the influence of Brazilian colonization interferes or complicates the understanding of Religious Teaching and the relationship between educator and student in the reality we live: a capital, Salvador, with a religious and cultural diversity, with an afrodescending majority. We live with a series of prejudices and religious intolerance that can turn the classes of Religious Teaching not as respectful as they should be, as well as to harm the educational practice, turning classes in a construction site of more prejudices. For this reason, we look at the need of integration between education, religion and culture for the discernment between educator and student, understanding that each one has his/her own experiences and convictions of religious and cultural life, in which tolerance and ethics are basic principles.

This work is a reflection on the religious education in public schools in Goiás. We looked in on the concept of secularism as a fundamental principle of democratic governments and Re-publicans on the relationship of this principle within the Brazilian public school and all de-rived implications there. Religion is an integral element in building the identity of a people and understood as a sym-bolic system practices and beliefs relating to the invisible world of supernatural beings. Therefore, the History of Religions is also the result of social, political and economic estab-lished in a society. Faced with a series of thematic alternative, we made the deliberate choice to meet more fully the guiding material for religious education classes in public schools: the curriculum. Also examine the set of pageants, cultural, social and policies that guided the presence of religious education in public schools in Brazil. Understand the religious culture of a people is key to understanding its history. We seek to investigate the school's relationship with their social environment and social contradictions that manifest themselves in the strug-gle for a democratic school for all. The initial conflict presented in the subject of questioning part of a hypothetical-deductive reasoning. With its commitment to work is to help the Religious Education teachers from public schools in the state of Goiás can expand their benchmarks for the recognition of cultural diversity, ethnic-racial and religious that compose the Brazilian society through the curriculum. The suggested educational product is a proposed curriculum for religious education in high school under a new nomenclature: History of Religions, with input from other areas of knowledge such as history, sociology, philosophy, art, geography and language.
O presente trabalho faz uma reflexão sobre o Ensino Religioso nas escolas públicas estaduais em Goiás. Debruçamo-nos sobre o conceito de laicidade como um princípio fundamental de governos democráticos e republicanos, sobre a relação desse princípio dentro da escola públi-ca brasileira e todas as implicações derivadas daí. A religião é um elemento integrante na construção da identidade de um povo e compreendido como um sistema de práticas simbólicas e de crenças relativas ao mundo invisível dos seres sobrenaturais. Assim sendo, a História das Religiões é também o resultado das relações soci-ais, políticas e econômicas estabelecidas numa sociedade. Diante de uma série de alternativas temáticas, fizemos a opção intencional em conhecer mais a fundo o material norteador para as aulas de Ensino Religioso na rede pública: o currículo. Analisar também o conjunto das repre-sentações históricas, culturais, sociais e políticas que orientaram a presença do Ensino Religi-oso na escola pública no Brasil. Compreender a cultura religiosa de um povo é fundamental para compreender a sua história. Buscamos investigar as relações da escola com o seu entorno social e as contradições sociais que se manifestam na luta por uma escola democrática para todos. O conflito inicial apresentado na problematização do tema parte de um raciocínio hipo-tético-dedutivo. O empenho deste trabalho é colaborar para que os professores de Ensino Religioso da rede pública estadual do Estado de Goiás possam ampliar seus padrões de referência pelo reconhe-cimento da diversidade cultural, étnico-racial e religiosa que compõe a sociedade brasileira por meio do currículo. O produto educacional sugerido é uma proposta curricular para o Ensi-no Religioso no Ensino Médio sob uma nova nomenclatura: História das Religiões, com apor-te de outras áreas do conhecimento como História, Sociologia, Filosofia, Arte, Geografia e Linguagem.

This study proposes a methodological approach to the topic by exploring the division of tasks set out by Bernard Lonergan (1904-1984). While the appeal of ‘civilisational dialogue’ is on the rise, its sources, functions, and con- sequences arouse controversy within and between faith communities. Some religious lead- ers have attempted to clarify the religious foundations for such dialogue. Among them are Jonathan Sacks, the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of Britain and the Commonwealth, Edward Idris, Cardinal Cassidy of the Catholic Church, and Fethullah Gülen. The paper compares the approach of these three religious leaders from the Abrahamic tra- dition as presented in their scholarly works – Sacks’ The Dignity of Difference, Cardinal Cassidy’s Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue, and Gülen’s Advocate of Dialogue. The discussion attempts to answer the following questions: Can monotheistic traditions accom- modate the dignity of followers of other monotheistic and polytheistic religions as well as non-theistic religions and philosophies? Is a belief in the unity of God compatible with an acceptance of the religious dignity of others? The paper also explores their arguments for why civilisational and interfaith dialogue is necessary, the parameters of such dialogue and its anticipated consequences: how and how far can dialogue bridge the claims of unity of God and diversity of faiths? Islam’s emphasis on diversity and the Quran’s accommodation of ear- lier religious traditions put Islam and Fethullah Gülen in the best position to offer a religious justification for valuing and cherishing the dignity of followers of other religions. The plea for a dialogue of civilizations is on the rise among some policymakers and politi- cians. Many of them believe a dialogue between Islam and the West has become more urgent in the new millennium. For example following the 2005 Cartoon Wars, the United Nations, the Organization of the Islamic Conferences, and the European Union used a joint statement to condemn violent protests and call for respect toward religious traditions. They pled for an exchange of ideas rather than blows: We urge everyone to resist provocation, overreaction and violence, and turn to dialogue. Without dialogue, we cannot hope to appeal to reason, to heal resentment, or to overcome mistrust. Globalization disperses people and ideas throughout the world; it brings families individuals with different beliefs into close contact. Today, more than any period in history, religious di- versity characterizes daily life in many communities. Proponents of interfaith dialogue claim that, in an increasingly global world, interfaith dialogue can facilitate mutual understanding, respect for other religions, and, thus, the peaceful coexistence of people of different faiths. One key factor for the success of the interfaith dialogue is religious leaders’ ability to provide an inclusive interfaith theology in order to reconcile their commitment to their own faith with the reality of religious diversity in their communities. I argue that prominent leaders of the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) are already offering separate but overlapping theologies to legitimize interfaith dialogue. A balanced analysis of multi-faith interactions is overdue in political science. The discipline characterises religious interactions solely from the perspective of schism and exclusion. The literature asserts that interactions among believers of different faiths will breed conflict, in- cluding terrorism, civil wars, interstate wars, and global wars. According to this conven- tional depiction, interfaith cooperation is especially challenging to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam due to their monotheism; each claims it is “the one true path”. The so-called “monothe- istic exclusion” refers to an all-or-nothing theological view: you are a believer or you are an infidel. Judaism identifies the chosen people, while outsiders are gentiles; Christians believe that no salvation is possible outside of Jesus; Islam seems to call for a perennial jihad against non-Muslims. Each faith would claim ‘religious other’ is a stranger to God. Political “us versus them” thinking evolves from this “believer versus infidel” worldview. This mindset, in turn, initiates the blaming, dehumanizing, and demonization of the believers of other reli- gious traditions. Eventually, it leads to inter-religious violence and conflict. Disputing this grim characterization of religious interactions, scholars of religion offer a tripartite typology of religious attitude towards the ‘religious other.’ They are: exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism. Exclusivism suggests a binary opposition of religious claims: one is truth, the other is falsehood. In this dichotomy, salvation requires affirmation of truths of one’s particular religion. Inclusivism integrates other religious traditions with one’s own. In this integration, one’s own religion represents the complete and pure, while other religions represent the incomplete, the corrupted, or both. Pluralism accepts that no religious tradi- tion has a privileged access to religious truth, and all religions are potentially equally valid paths. This paper examines the theology of interfaith dialogue (or interfaith theology) in the Abrahamic religions by means of analyzing the works of three prominent religious lead- ers, a Rabbi, a Pope, and a Muslim scholar. First, Jonathan Sacks, the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of Britain and the Commonwealth, offers a framework for the dialogue of civilizations in his book Dignity of Difference: How to Avoid the Clash of Civilizations. Rather than mere tolerance and multiculturalism, he advocates what he calls the dignity of difference—an active engagement to value and cherish cultural and religious differences. Second, Pope John Paul II’s Crossing the Threshold of Hope argues that holiness and truth might exist in other religions because the Holy Spirit works beyond the for- mal boundaries of Church. Third, the Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen’s Advocate of Dialogue describes a Muslim approach to interfaith dialogue based on the Muslim belief in prophecy and revelation. I analyze the interfaith theologies of these religious leaders in five sections: First, I explore variations on the definition of ‘interfaith dialogue’ in their works. Second, I examine the structural and strategic reasons for the emergence and development of the interfaith theologies. Third, I respond to four common doubts about the possibility and utility of interfaith di- alogue and theologies. Fourth, I use John Rawls’ overlapping consensus approach to develop a framework with which to analyze religious leaders’ support for interfaith dialogue. Fifth, I discuss the religious rationales of each religious leader as it relates to interfaith dialogue.

The crisis at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries affected different countries and different aspects of social life, which was inevitable both due to geographical proximity and cultural, economic, political and other intersections. Addressing the topic of the sociocultural crisis was characteristic of both Russian and Western European philosophers of the early 20th century. The author in the article refers to the understanding of its features and ways to overcome it in the context of the ideas of Russian religious philosophers. An integral feature of Russian philosophical thought in the context of assessing the ongoing social changes and the search for ways out of a crisis situation is an understanding of the special purpose of Russia and an awareness of its role in human history. The works of Russian philosophers are full of anxiety about the future of mankind, about the fate of Russia, a premonition of possible death, therefore it is no coincidence that the appeal to the theme of the Apocalypse, the impending catastrophe, the end of history is perceived as a real threat to the existence of mankind. With all the diversity of approaches to assessing the sociocultural crisis, Russian thinkers are united by common philosophical roots, religion, national and cultural traditions. In the context of understanding the crisis processes of the early twentieth century, Russian religious thinkers raise the question of the role and significance of a person in the transformation of life, thereby actualizing the moral and anthropological problems.

Western analysts of trends in the contemporary Islamic world often overestimate the impact of contemporary Sufi orders and/or underestimate the impact of the spiritual tradition of Islam. Among the elements of the spiritual tradition conducive to religious pluralism is the ‘mirror’ concept: every human is seen as a mirror of God in three aspects: reflecting the at- tributes and names of God as His work of art, reflection through dependence on God, and reflection through actions God commands or commends. Since only the last aspect is vol- untary, every human, regardless of creed, is a mirror of God in at least the first two aspects. This is a potent argument for peaceful coexistence in religious diversity. The perspective of the spiritual tradition is emphatically inclusive and compassionate and naturally lends itself to non-violence, going beyond mere tolerance to hospitality and friendship. There are impor- tant impediments that prevent this perspective from having a greater impact: (1) the literalist opposition to flexible interpretation of concepts from the Qur’an and the Prophetic tradition, and the wide definition of innovation or heresy (‘bid`a’); (2) deviations of some Sufi orders and subsequent criticisms by orthodox Muslims; and (3) the impact of the politicisation of religion by some groups and political moves by certain Sufi orders. This paper argues that the only approach that has a chance of influencing the majority of contemporary Muslims in positive ways without being open to criticism is the ‘balanced’ spiritual tradition, after the style of the Companions, sometimes called tasawwuf, which strives to harmonise the outer dimensions of Islamic law and worship with the inner dimen- sion of spiritual disciplines firmly rooted in the Qur’an and Prophetic tradition. This paper will present an analysis of this ‘balanced’ spiritual tradition in Islam, from Ghazali, through Rumi, to Gülen.

Questo rapporto evidenzia come le discriminazioni strutturali e l'esclusione sociale influenzino le percezioni e gli atteggiamenti nei confronti del vaccino per il COVID-19 tra le comunità rom in Italia. Uno degli obiettivi è mettere in luce il ruolo che le autorità pubbliche e le comunità possono svolgere nel sostenere l'adozione del vaccino e nel contrasto ai più ampi processi di esclusione sociale.1 Le risposte contraddittorie che lo Stato italiano ha fornito durante la pandemia di Covid-19, insieme alle forme di esclusione già in atto, hanno comportato un aumento della sfiducia delle comunità rom nei confronti delle iniziative statali, impattando anche sull’adesione alla campagna vaccinale.2 Questo documento si propone di supportare e informare le amministrazioni locali e le istituzioni sanitarie pubbliche coinvolte nell’assistenza e nei processi di inclusione delle comunità rom in Italia. Il presente documento si basa su una ricerca condotta di persona e a distanza dal novembre 2021 al gennaio 2022 in Italia con le comunità rom e sinti di Milano, Roma e Catania. Sebbene queste comunità si caratterizzino per diversità storica e per differenti forme di identità linguistica, geografica, religiosa, sono state individuate delle somiglianze nel modo in cui hanno vissuto la pandemia di COVID-19 e nelle decisioni a proposito del vaccino. Questo documento è stato sviluppato per SSHAP da Iliana Sarafian (LSE) con i contributi e le revisioni di Elizabeth Storer (LSE), Tabitha Hrynick (IDS), Marco Solimene (University of Iceland), Dijana Pavlovic (Upre Roma) e Olivia Tulloch (Anthrologica). This report suggests some recommended questions emerging from the reviews of guidance documents and tools.

Religious identity is critically important to consider in assessing patterns of displacement and the dynamics of conflict and peace-building, as well as programmatic and policy responses to humanitarian crises. Conflicts are frequently driven by discrimination and generate massive numbers of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) as they flee from persecution and violence, whilst individuals or groups may be targeted for their identity or face insecurity during community activities. As a result, the relationship between diversity, inclusivity, and interdependence is key to developing approaches that address intersecting forms of insecurity experienced by religious minorities. This paper reviews current thinking and policy directions in understanding religious inequalities in humanitarian contexts and asks the following questions: 1) What are the implications of programming that is blind to religious inequalities? 2) How can humanitarian actors incorporate sensitivity to religious difference and persecution in their programming, and what are the challenges of doing so?

The American Library Association’s 1982 statement on Diversity in Collection Development reminds librarians of our professional responsibility “to select and support the access to materials on all subjects that meet, as closely as possible, the needs, interests, and abilities of all persons in the community the library serves. This includes materials that reflect political, economic, religious, social, minority, and sexual issues.” The William H. Hannon (WHH) Library’s vision statementaffirms that the library views itself as Bridge, Gateway, Agora, and Enterprise. To ensure that our materials collection aligns with our institutional vision and meets the research needs of our diverse campus population, the project team proposed an assessment of our electronic collection through the lens of diversity. The assessment was to determine if the library’s online databases (most often the first point of research consultation for our students and faculty) are adequately “bridging disciplines” (Bridge) and “representing diverse topics and perspectives” (Gateway). What the team learns will inform the library collection strategy, to ensure that it builds collections that deliberately and positively contribute to an inclusive campus climate. The atrocities committed by the Islamic State (IS) between 2014 and 2017 left deep scars on the Nineveh Plains in northern Iraq. IS deliberately targeted ethnic and religious communities with the aim of erasing the traces of diversity, pluralism and coexistence that have long characterized the region. To prevent people from living as Assyrians, Chaldeans, Kaka’i, Shabaks, Syriacs, Turkmen and Yazidis, IS destroyed sites of cultural and religious significance to these communities and devastated their livelihoods, including their crop and livestock farming activities. Using a people-centered approach, this SIPRI Research Policy Paper stresses the need for a holistic approach to post-conflict reconstruction in the Nineveh Plains that not only focuses on rebuilding the physical environment and economic structures, but also pays adequate attention to restoring the ability of communities to engage in cultural and religious practices, and to mending social and intercommunity relations. The paper highlights the interconnectedness of physical environments, economic structures, cultural practices and social dynamics. It stresses the need to address the impacts of the IS occupation while taking into account other pressing challenges such as climate change and water scarcity.
