Este trabalho apresenta a análise das propriedades do tráfego em redes sem fio IEEE 802.11 e examina a eficiência do protocolo da camada de enlace, tendo em vista o desempenho de diversas aplicações. Inicialmente, é apresentado um estudo taxonômico do tráfego de rede sem fio nas camadas de enlace, rede e transporte. O estudo identifica a composiç˜ao do tráfego nas diferentes camadas, o classifica e o modela como um processo autossimilar. Com esse resultado, é feita uma análise crítica do desempenho de aplicações reproduzidas em simulações com o objetivo de verificar duas hipóteses: 1) Determinar a influência do fenômeno de autossimilaridade no desempenho de aplicações. 2) Avaliar o ganho de desempenho o tráfego que pode ser caracterizado como desnecessário. Os resultados comprovam que a propriedade autossimilar do tráfego provoca um efeito negativo no desempenho da rede, e se torna ainda mais grave em situações de uso mais intenso. Também é mostrado que, para melhorar o desempenho de aplicações de tempo real em uma rede sem fio, um ponto inicial de partida é a diminuição dos componentes de tráfego que n˜ao s˜ao estritamente necessários. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
This work presents the analysis of properties of traffic on IEEE 802.11 wireless networks and examines the effectiveness of the link layer protocol for the performance of various applications. Initially, a taxonomic study of wireless network traffic in the network link layer, and transport. The study identifies the composition of traffic on different layers, classifies and models as a self-similar process. With this result, is made a critical analysis of the performance of applications reproduced in simulations to verify two hypotheses: 1) to determine the influence of the phenomenon of self-similarity in the performance of applications. 2) Evaluate the performance gain removing the traffic that can be characterized as unnecessary. The results show that the self-similar traffic causes a negative effect on network performance, and becomes even more acute in situations of intense use. It is also shown that, to improve the performance of real-time applications in a wireless network, an initial point of departure is the reduction of traffic that are not strictly necessary.

Problemas de escalonamento aos quais s?o impostas restri??es relativas ?s dist?ncias temporais entre sucessivas execu??es de uma mesma tarefa possuem um grande n?mero de aplica??es, que variam desde o escalonamento de tarefas em sistemas de tempo real ? produ??o de autom?veis em uma linha de montagem. O presente trabalho apresenta um novo problema de otimiza??o, denominado de Problema das Sequ?ncias Justas Ponderadas (PSJP), que faz parte dessa classe de problemas. Al?m do estudo da complexidade computacional do PSJP, ? apresentada uma formula??o matem?tica baseada em programa??o linear inteira mista e uma s?rie de cortes que aprimoram sua resolu??o via m?todos exatos. Para resolv?-lo, foram elaborados um m?todo iterativo que reduz o n?mero de vari?veis da formula??o proposta e uma solu??o heur?stica desenvolvida a partir da combina??o de meta-heur?sticas cl?ssicas da literatura. Experimentos computacionais mostram que, para um dado limite de tempo, as abordagens propostas aumentam significativamente o n?mero de inst?ncias resolvidas, preservando-se a qualidade das solu??es.
Scheduling problems on which constraints are imposed with regard to the temporal distances between successive executions of the same task have numerous applications, ranging from task scheduling in real-time systems to automobile production on a mixedmodel assembly line. This paper introduces a new NP-hard optimization problem belonging to this class of problems, namely the Weighted Fair Sequences Problem (WFSP). In addition to the study of the computational complexity of the WFSP, we present a mathematical formulation based on mixed-integer linear programming as well as a serie of cuts that improve the problem resolution via exact methods. To solve the WFSP, we propose an iterative method that greatly reduces the number of variables in the WFSP formulation and a heuristic solution developed from the combination of classical metaheuristics from the literature. Computational experiments show that, for a given time limit, the proposed approaches significantly increase the number of instances solved, preserving the quality of the solutions.

Повний текст джерелаThe venom gland of the Brazilian venomous snake Bothrops jararaca (Crotalinae, Viperidae) is an exocrine tissue related to the salivary gland. The venom gland has a central lumen where the venom is stored. When the venom is released, the production of new venom is triggered by the activation of noradrenaline on both α1- and β-adrenoceptors. But the genes involved and the regulation of venom production cycle are poorly known. When the Bothrops jararaca is treated with reserpine, a depletor of catecholamine, the venom production is inhibited. At present work we used combined methods of high throughput analysis of gene expression to identify cellular process controlled by the sympathetic system during the cycle of venom production in the venom glands of Bothrops jararaca. Was constructed a cDNA array with 4608 clones from a cDNA library of the venom glands of one male and one female of B.jararaca. In order to get a time series analysis adult males of B.jararaca were used. The venom gland was extracted at different time points of the venom production cycle (0, 1, 2, 4 and 15 days). The resulting profile of the gene expression of toxins and non-toxins during the cycle was shown to be similar, and the higher level of gene expression was found at the 2nd day of the venom production cycle. A differential gene expression analysis was performed also with venom glands of B.jararaca treated with reserpine. Although previous results reported that venom glands under effect of reserpine are not able to produce venom, we found that 51% of upregulated clones of the venom gland treated with reserpine (4dR) are toxins. Moreover, most of the non-toxins clones were involved with transcription and translation processes, showing that these processes are not affected by the inhibition of the sympathetic system. The analysis of gene expression by quantitative real-time PCR confirmed that in the venom gland treated with reserpine (4dR) the toxins are normally produced, and the genes responsive for unfolded protein response (UPR) are upregulated. We also performed the next generation sequencing to produce a transcriptomic profile (RNA-seq) of normal venom gland (4d) and venom gland treated with reserpine (4dR). The comparison between the transcripts of toxins found at 4d and 4dR transcriptomes revealed no qualitative or quantitative differences, confirming that the toxins transcription are independent of the activation of α1- and β-adrenoceptors. The enrichment analysis of Gene Ontology terms revealed that the unfolded protein response are activated at 4dR venom gland and the membrane trafficking are possibly inhibited. We also identify many isoforms of Ras family small GTPases (Rab proteins) that has a key role ate regulation of membrane trafficking. At present work we showed that the transcriptional control of the toxins in the venom gland are independent of the activation by α1- and β-adrenoceptors, however, the adrenoceptors seems to be necessary to activate the secretory pathway. The inhibition of the activation of α1- and β-adrenoceptor by reserpine seems to be recruiting an unfolded protein response, probably due to the accumulation of proteins at the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum.

As Hipóteses que (P) tem de satisfazer, para garantir a existência de solução estão na quarta e os resultados principais são apresentados na quinta secção. Termina-se este trabalho com a referência a um problema para o qual o resultado principal garante existência de solução.
