Le premier de ces groupes incluant les ouvrages situ?s en dehors de l'enceinte a d?j? fait l'objet de plusieurs publications de sorte que ce travail se contente de rappeler bri?vement leurs principales caract?ristiques au d?but du texte. Lorsqu'il s'agit du Sirmium intra muros, nonobstant la pr?sence de vestiges de murs massifs et de plastique architecturale d?corative dans la partie centrale de la ville antique autorisant d'envisager la pr?sence de temples pa?ens, l'ensemble de la litt?rature publi?e ne fait aucune mention de tels ?difices. Les r?sultats d'une analyse a posteriori du mat?riel arch?ologique enregistr? dans la documentation conserv?e ? l'Institut arch?ologique de Belgrade, ainsi que l'observation du mat?riel lapidaire et d?coratif des d?p?ts du Mus?e du Srem ? Sremska Mitrovica ont permis ? l'auteur de ce travail de constater (avec toute la r?serve voulue dans ses conclusions) que l'espace situ? ? l'est du forum accueillait, pour le moins quatre temples pa?ens. L'existence de ces ?difices de culte a ?t? situ?e au sein de divers intervalles compris entre le IIe et le IVe si?cle. Il est int?ressant de noter que le plus ancien d'entre eux (IIe si?cle), d?gag? sur le site 42, ?tait dot? d'une construction portante en bois. Un peu plus au nord ont ?t? exhum?s les vestiges d'un ?difice de culte (59) datant du IIIe-IVe si?cle qui pourrait ?tre identifi? avec un fanum gallo-romain, mais cela restera pour l'instant de l'ordre de l'hypoth?se. Plus ? l'est, sur une vaste plate-forme en dalles de marbre ont ?t? ?rig?s vers la fin du IIIe ou au d?but du IVe si?cle deux autres temples (sites 43 et 47). Contaminated gas cleaning from finely divided solids is carried out using a new generation of multi-channel design cyclones. The application of these devices are separated and precipitated particles with a minimum diameter up to 2 micrometers, reaching up to 95% cleaning efficiency. Cyclones of such constructions are usually used under usual conditions at elevated temperature and low humidity. Under aggressive conditions, these devices can be clogged, and their recovery is not possible. Further studies are research into the application of constructive solutions to adapt the cyclone gas cleaning of the particulate matter under aggressive conditions. This theoretical evaluation has described the characteristics change of gas flow and particulate matters at different aggressive environment. Such conditions were loudly describe the gas-flow high-temperature range of 50–200 °C and gas-vapor stream, the humidity reaches 70–100%. Estimated aggressive conditions on the gas flow dynamics forces – pressure, resistance and centrifugal, and particulate mechanical – gravitational and adhesion strength. All parameters are evaluated in comparison with the values under normal conditions. Naujos kartos daugiakanaliais ciklonais smulkiadispersės kietosios dalelės pašalinamos iš užterštų dujų. Naudojant šiuos įrenginius, yra atskiriamos ir nusodinamos kietosios dalelės, kurių minimalus skersmuo siekia 2 mikrometrus, taip gaunama iki 95 % valymo efektyvumo. Tokios konstrukcijos ciklonai dažniausiai yra naudojami įprastomis sąlygomis, esant padidintai temperatūrai ir nedideliam drėgniui. Visi vertinami parametrai palyginti su vertėmis normaliomis sąlygomis.

Dallas has a long history of uneven development. It is the product of excess capital, white planning, and a desire to shape the land into something it is not. Communities in Dallas broke sharply along racial and class lines, and as a result black and white Dallas developed separately. Forces of structural and physical violence largely determined where African American neighborhoods were, and are, located in Dallas. African American, Mexican American, and other low-income communities suffered not only from low housing availability and high rent prices, but also bombings, arson, and other physical threats. When alliances formed between poor whites and their neighbors of color, the construction of a highway or railroad was apt to split a neighborhood and fracture the community. The effects of segregation and discrimination have followed the African American communities in Dallas since their inception. Space for African Americans, who made up almost twenty percent of the population, within the Dallas city limits continued to shrink. In 1940, African American neighborhoods were squeezed into 3.5 square miles within the City and in small communities along the perimeter. Meanwhile, the wealthy sequestered themselves into enclaves within the city, avoiding both minorities and municipal taxes while benefitting from city services. In this paper I explore how this historical discrimination and segregation shaped geographic inequality across Dallas today. Much of the wealth in Dallas is clustered in the north around the Park Cities enclave as illustrated by viewing the property tax values over the city. Low-income, majority African American neighborhoods like Joppa, located in southern Dallas, illustrate the impacts that the flows of capital have on livelihoods. South Dallas experienced a sharp decrease in population as residents moved to the suburbs in the 1960s and has since been underdeveloped. Joppa, a small, historically neglected, neighborhood has remained isolated until recently. Developers are interested in Joppa for its cheap, empty lots, and valuable proximity to booming downtown Dallas and the Trinity River Corridor. Gentrification is a concern for the neighborhood; residents have a desire to revitalize their neighborhood on their own terms, not developers’. This research will help to visualize and amplify the continued material effects of a history Dallas is trying to make invisible.

Rationalities endemic to modernity entail an implicit spatial imaginary of networks. Additionally, modernity envisages nature as an external domain that is discoverable by science and domesticable through technology in order to drive economic productivity. This article examines Grapevine Reservoir as an artifact of modernity. Through an examination of Dallas-based representations of Denton Creek space, we seek to demonstrate that the area was discursively produced as a distal node of the Dallas network: as nothing more than a point-source for urban water. And as water flowed into Dallas, the city flowed outward to Grapevine along the same conduit. We draw on archival data from a major local newspaper during the proposal and construction phases of the reservoir (1921–1954), as well as key government documents prepared by the US Congress and US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in the 1940s. Texts were subjected to discourse analysis, to examine how urban interests rationalized Denton Creek space.

UNO STUDIO SULLA COSTRUZIONE DEI NURAGHI DELLA SARDEGNALo studio della struttura dei nuraghi è basato su accurate misurazioni di 24 volte in 15 monumenti. La parte principale analizza attraverso lo studio della loro forma la stabilità strutturale delle volte a modiglioni. La teoria, basata sulle condizioni necessarie alla stabilità, prevede che le volte debbano avere la forma:y = cxdI dati ricavati dalle volte concordano strettamente con questa previsione. Quindi le volte sono raggruppate secondo il valore dell'esponente d e la presenza o l'assenza di un ‘punto di variazione’ nella volta. Gruppi geografici sono riconosciuti. L'articolo discute anche dettagli generici della struttura e della forma dei nuraghi. L'appendice presenta reperti da un saggio di scavo al Nuraghe Sant'Antine, con importanti risultati riguardanti la data del monumento e la costruzione delle sue fondamenta.

A recently completed survey of office tenants in North Dallas, Texas, presented respondents with two hypothetical situations, each combining a temporary increase in commuting time with a temporary reduction in office rent. Respondents were asked whether the overall effect on their business would be positive, negative, or neutral. Although hypothetical, the questions were also topical. The respondents were all in the vicinity of a major highway project, the Dallas High Five Interchange, the construction of which has caused delays for some travelers. Econometric analysis of the survey responses provided estimates of the cost these office tenants attach to a temporary increase in the commuting time of their employees. This paper explains the derivation of these estimates and provides other findings relevant to their interpretation. The paper also motivates analysis by explaining how estimates of this sort can promote public awareness of the costs and benefits of highway projects.

Le travail décrit dans le présent mémoire est une contribution à l'étude du comportement des dalles en bétons armé de haute performance. Il peut être considéré comme le dernier élément d'une démarche collective visant à établir l'intérêt de développer un béton armé de haute performance en tant que nouveau matériau de construction. L'étude du domaine des petites déformations et des petits déplacements, a précédé celle de l'évolution de la fissuration conduisant à la ruine, car c'est là que s'exprime le plus la haute résistance des matériaux constitutifs. Les effets néfastes du vieillissement du béton sur la résistance à la microfissuration ont été mis en évidence. Le rôle indéniable de l'acier de haute limite élastique comme bonificateur des performances de l'élément de structure dans son domaine d'utilisation a été constaté. L'examen du domaine post-élastique a permis d'observer que l'influence de la limite d'élasticité de l'armature n'est déterminante que lors de la transformation de l'élément de structure en mécanisme. Enfin une ouverture de cette recherche a été pratiquée à l'usage de l'ingénieur grâce à une simulation numérique.

Les structures en bois sont une bonne solution pour la construction de bâtiments multiétages. Le bois est reconnu pour son aspect architectural, pour son empreinte écologique faible ainsi que pour sa résistance mécanique. L’ajout d’une mince couche de béton connectée à l’aide de connecteurs de cisaillement sur une pièce de bois lamellé-collé ou bien un CLT permet d’augmenter considérablement la rigidité du plancher. Il est donc possible de construire sur une plus longue portée tout en respectant les critères de flèche d’État Limite de Service (ELS) et de résistances aux États Limites Ultimes (ELU). Ces solutions innovantes sont aussi moins sensibles aux vibrations puisqu’elles sont plus rigides. Le confort des usagers est donc amélioré. Cette thèse se concentre sur le développement d’une connexion de type entaille peu profonde adaptée aux dalles composites. Cette connexion est conçue afin d’obtenir un comportement initial rigide, puis une grande ductilité. Ceci est possible en utilisant le caractère ductile en compression du bois. Plusieurs configurations sont testées dans le CLT et dans le bois lamellé-collé. La profondeur de l’entaille varie. L’influence de la présence d’un isolant acoustique entre le bois et le béton est aussi quantifiée. Les premiers tests de cisaillement sur les différentes configurations ont montré de très bons résultats et des dalles CLT-BHP ont été coulées pour une portée de 8 m. Les dalles de CLT-BHP ont été conçues selon une approche multicritère afin de respecter les normes du Code National du Bâtiment du Canada et de maximiser certains facteurs considérés importants par le milieu de la construction tels l’épaisseur du plancher, le poids du plancher, le coût, etc.
Wooden structures are a good solution for building multi-story buildings. Wood is known for its architectural appearance, low footprint and mechanical strength. The addition of a thin layer of concrete connected using shear connectors to a piece of glued-laminated timber (GLULAM) or a Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) considerably increases the rigidity of the floor. It is therefore possible to build longer span in building while respecting the Serviceability Limit States (SLS) deflection criteria as well as the Ultimate Limit States (ULS) bearing capacity. These innovative solutions are also less sensitive to vibrations since they are more rigid. The comfort of users is improved. This thesis focuses on the development of a shallow notch type connection suitable for composite slabs. This connection is designed to obtain a rigid initial behavior, followed by a big ductility. This is possible by using the compressive ductile nature of the timber. Several configurations are tested in CLT and GLULAM. The depth of the cut varies from 20 mm to 35 mm. The influence of the presence of an acoustic insulation between the timber and the concrete is also quantified. The first shear tests on the different configurations showed very good results. Three 8 m single span CLT-HPC slabs were cast. The CLT-HPC slabs were designed with a multi-criteria approach to meet the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) standards and to maximize certain factors considered important by the building industry such as floor thickness, floor weight, the cost, etc.

Les charpentes de bois sont une alternative très intéressante pour la construction de bâtiments multiétages. Grâce à sa faible empreinte écologique, ses excellentes propriétés mécaniques et l’esthétisme de son produit fini, le bois est un matériau incontournable. En y ajoutant une mince dalle de béton collaborant, on permet de réduire considérablement l’épaisseur et le poids des planchers tout en respectant les critères de conception. Pour ce faire, le transfert des charges de la dalle de béton à la poutre de bois doit passer par les connecteurs. Différents types de connecteurs permettent ce transfert. Néanmoins, il est difficile de garantir un comportement rigide en service et une rupture ductile de la poutre. La ductilité du connecteur est un indicatif de l’aptitude de la structure à dissiper de l’énergie. Dans ce mémoire, le comportement d’un nouveau connecteur composite coulé en place sera décortiqué. Ce connecteur en béton fibré à ultra-haute performance (BFUP) et contenant un coeur en acier permet de garantir la rigidité et la ductilité. L’objectif de cette recherche est de vérifier et de valider le comportement du connecteur composite en variant les différents paramètres géométriques, soit le diamètre et la longueur. De plus, afin de confirmer la performance du nouveau connecteur, un essai de flexion sera réalisé sur des poutres de plancher type en comparaison avec un autre type de connecteur. Ces essais en laboratoire seront également validés à l’aide de méthode de calcul simple et plus complexe permettant de vérifier le comportement structural en service et à l’ultime. Finalement, ce mémoire explore le comportement d’une mince dalle de BFUP connectée à une poutre de bois lamellé-collé (BLC) d’une portée de 9 m. Les poutres composites bois-béton ont été conçues avec une approche multicritère simplifiée. Les résultats confirment le potentiel prometteur, en termes de poids et d’épaisseur globale, de l’utilisation du BFUP dans les futurs projets de bâtiment multi-étages
Timber framing is a very attractive alternative for the construction of multistory buildings. Thanks to its low ecological footprint, its excellent mechanical properties and the aesthetics of finished product. By adding a thin concerted concrete slab, the thickness and weight of the floors can be considerably reduced while respecting the design criteria. In order to succeed, the load must be transferred from the concrete slab to the timber beam by the shear connectors. Different types of connectors allow this transfer. Nevertheless, it is difficult to guarantee good stiffness in serviceability and ductile behaviour before the collapse of the structure. Ductility is an indicator of the ability of the structure to dissipate energy. In this master thesis, the behaviour of a new cast-in-place composite connector will be discussed. This ultra-high performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) with a steel core ensures stiffness and ductility. The aim of this research is to verify and validate the behaviour of the composite connector by varying the different geometric parameters, namely the diameter and the length. Furthermore, in order to confirm the performance of the new connector, a bending test will be carried out on typical floor beams in comparison with another shear connector. These laboratory tests will also be validated using a simple and complex calculation method to verify the structural behaviour in both Serviceability Limit States (SLS) and Ultimate Limit States (ULS). Finally, this thesis explores the behaviour of a thin slab of UHPFRC connected to a glued laminated timber (GLT) with a long span of 9 m. The TCC beams were designed with a simplified multi-criteria approach. The results confirm the promising potentials, in terms of weight and overall thickness, of using UHPFRC thin slab for future TCC multistory buildings.

Soft soil reinforcement by inclusion is a growing technique caracterized by a pile grid and a granular embankment introduced between the reinforced soil and the structure. Unlike traditionnal methods, the load is partially transferred to the pile heads by arching in the embankment. The application area of this research focuses on the shallow foundations case, in which the thickness of the embankment is small. The litterature review shows that only a few studies were dedicated to that case, and that fundamental questions remains concerning the load transfer in the embankment. Chosen method for this research consists in two-dimensionnal physical modelling, analysis of the conducted simulations, and development of an analytical model in order to predict the load transfer to the piles by arching in the embankment. The results of this PhD thesis provide original elements of evidence of the load transfer in the studied system, proposes an analytical model based on block division of the granular embankment by shear bands - which is in good agreement with experimental data - and lead to a better understanding of arching in soils.

Les dispositifs de retenue sur les ouvrages d’art fournissent une protection essentielle aux usagers de la route. Ils atténuent les conséquences d’une perte de contrôle d’un véhicule en empêchant sa sortie de la voie carrossable ou son intrusion dans une voie inverse. Actuellement, les standards nord-américains de conception d’ouvrages d’art requièrent que la résistance et le comportement sécuritaire des dispositifs soient prouvés par un essai de collision à grandeur réelle. Un dispositif de retenue préalablement testé et accepté peut être modifié si le responsable peut démontrer sa performance par des analyses et des simulations appropriées. La méthode des éléments finis est un outil efficace pour prédire la réponse d’un dispositif de retenue sous les charges induites par l’impact d’un véhicule. Le présent projet de recherche vise à développer des détails d’assemblages génériques (montés directement sur le tablier et sur un chasse-roue) permettant d’assembler un dispositif de retenue de type poteaux-poutres en acier déjà testé et approuvé aux tabliers orthotropes en acier les plus récemment développés. Ce projet implique des analyses statiques et des simulations dynamiques en utilisant ABAQUS et LS-DYNA, respectivement. La capacité de l’assemblage à transférer la charge d’impact sans compromettre l’intégrité structurale du tablier de pont et du dispositif lui-même est examinée en détail. Des détails d’assemblage ont été développés avec un système de plaques de renfort et un module d’assemblage pour assembler les dispositifs de retenue directement sur le tablier orthotrope et sur un chasse-roue en acier, respectivement. Des similitudes entre les résultats des différentes analyses montrent que les charges statiques spécifiées par la norme CSA S6-06 sont appropriées pour la modification des ancrages de dispositifs de retenue pour les assembler à des tabliers orthotropes en acier. Traffic barriers in bridge construction are specially designed devices that are carefully selected and connected to the bridge deck to redirect errant vehicles safely into the flow of traffic and prevent them from proceeding down a non-driveable batter. Current North American bridge design standards require that the selected traffic barrier system must be crash-tested at full-scale to ensure a safe design standard. Minimal modifications of already crash-tested and approved traffic barrier system are however allowed if its performance can be demonstrated by an appropriate engineering simulation and analysis. The finite element analysis method is an effective tool to predict the response of traffic barriers under vehicle-induced forces. The present research aims at developing generic connector systems (deck and curb-mounted) that allows the attachment of a standard already-crash-tested post-and-rail barrier to orthotropic steel decks. This research involves both static analysis and dynamic simulation of crash-test using ABAQUS and LS-DYNA. The ability of the attachment system to transfer the impact loads without compromising the structural integrity of the bridge deck or the barrier itself would be examined in detail. Typical assembly were developed with strengthening plates to connect the traffic barriers directly on the orthotropic steel deck and with a module to connect it on a steel curb. Similarities existing between the results of the different analyses show that the static loads specified in Canadian standard CSA S6-06 are appropriate for the modification of the anchorage of traffic barriers to connect them to orthotropic steel decks. Le gouvernement québécois souhaite valoriser l’utilisation de l’aluminium et du bois d’ingénierie dans la construction et dans la réhabilitation d’ouvrages d’art. Dans le cadre de la vision à court terme des projets de construction, le bois et l’aluminium sont encore aujourd’hui désavantagés. Pourtant, ces deux matériaux pourraient devenir des matériaux concurrentiels pour la réhabilitation du parc routier québécois notamment grâce à leur production locale et leur possibilité de recyclage. Afin d’éviter une vision court-termiste biaisée, la méthode d’arbitrage utilisée est celle de l’analyse de cycle de vie. Cette méthode holistique prend en compte l’ensemble des étapes du cycle de vie. Deux analyses sont réalisées en parallèles. La première concerne les coûts de cycle de vie (ACCV) et la deuxième, les impacts environnementaux (ACV). Ces deux études complémentaires ajoutent une dimension environnementale, aujourd’hui non négligeable, aux futures prises de décision. La première étape de ce projet consiste en la conception du tablier de pont hybride à platelage en aluminium sur poutres en bois lamellé-collé à l’aide de la norme CAN/CSA S6-14 (CSA,2014b). Le pont-type ainsi conçu est par la suite utilisé au cours des analyses de cycle de vie. L’analyse économique se fait à l’aide de la norme ISO 15686-5 (ISO, 2017). L’analyse des impacts environnementaux se fait, elle, à l’aide de le norme ISO 14040 (ISO, 2006a) et 14044 (ISO, 2006b). L’utilisation du bois ainsi que le faible nombre d’opérations d’entretien rendent le tablier aluminium/bois plus avantageux économiquement sur toute sa durée de vie. Les tabliers conventionnels béton/acier assurent une nette diminution des coûts de construction initiaux mais cette tendance s’inverse très vite. Le préfabrication possible des tabliers de pont aluminium/acier et aluminium/bois réduisent les coûts indirects de construction. Ainsi, les tabliers de pont aluminium/bois réduisent de 86 % le coût total du tablier par comparaison avec des tabliers conventionnels. Au niveau des indicateurs environnementaux, le tablier aluminium/bois est également à privilégier.
The Quebec Gouvernment wishes to promote the use of wood and aluminium in the construction and rehabilitation of structures. In the context of the short-term vision of construction projects, wood and aluminium are clearly disadvantaged. However, aluminium and glued laminated timber could become competitive materials for the rehabilitation of the Quebec roadway bridges, in particular thanks to their local production in Quebec and their possibility of recycling. In order to avoid a biased short-term view, the method of arbitration used is that of life cycle analysis. This holistic method makes it possible to take into account all life-cycle stages. Two analyzes are carried out in parallel. The first concerns life cycle costs and the second concerns environmental impacts. These two studies complement each other and add a environmental dimension, which is not negligible today, on decision-making. The first stage of this project consists of the design of the hybrid bridge deck aluminium on glued laminated timber beams using the CAN / CSA S6-14 standard. The bridge-type thus designed is subsequently used during life cycle analyzes. The economic analysis is done using the ISO 15686-5 standard (2017). The environmental impact analysis is done using the ISO 14040 and 14044 standards (2006). The use of wood and aluminium as well as the low number of maintenance operations make the aluminum/wood deck more economically advantageous over its entire lifespan. Conventional concrete/steel decks provide a clear reduction in initial construction costs, but this trend is reversed very quickly. The possible prefabrication of aluminium/steel and aluminium/ wood bridge decks reduces indirect construction costs. Les alliages d'aluminium ont plusieurs propriétés qui rendent intéressantes son utilisation dans les ouvrages d’art, en particulier dans un contexte de climat nordique. En effet, ce matériau a un faible ratio poids/résistance, une très bonne résistance à la corrosion, une résilience élevée à basse température, ainsi qu’une bonne formabilité. Pour ces raisons, l’aluminium est envisagé pour la production de platelages de ponts constitués d’extrusions multicellulaires soudées entre elles. Ces platelages doivent être connectés sur des poutres en acier au moyen d’un assemblage boulonné antiglissement, afin de développer l’action mixte entre le platelage et les poutres. La difficulté de ce projet réside dans la difficulté d’accès à l’intérieur des cellules extrudées. Cela empêche la bonne mise en place des connexions boulonnées antiglissement respectant les exigences de la norme canadienne sur les ponts routiers. Deux solutions sont étudiées : l’utilisation de boulons aveugles et la conception d’une extrusion d’attache entre le platelage et les poutres. Pour chacune de ces solutions, une étude de faisabilité est faite. Dans le cas des boulons aveugles, deux modèles ont été identifiés, puis modélisés par éléments finis afin de déterminer s’ils se conforment aux exigences de la norme CAN/CSA-S6-2014. Dans le cas des extrusions d’attache, deux modèles seront conçus et testés par éléments finis, au regard de la norme. Les solutions explorées dans ce travail sont ensuite comparées par le moyen d’analyses SWOT, afin de mettre en évidences leurs forces, faiblesses, opportunités et menaces. Aluminium alloys have many properties that make this material fit for structural uses, in particular in a nordic climate. This metal has indeed a good weight/resistance ratio, an excellent corrosion resistance, a high resilience at low temperatures, and a good formability. For these reasons, aluminium is considered for the production of bridge decks made of multi-cellular extrusions welded together. Decks are to be connected to steel girders with slip-critical bolted joints, in order to achieve composite action between the deck and the girders. The main concern is the lack of accessibility of the interior of the extrusions. This prevents the setting up of the slip-critical bolteds joints, compliantly with the canadian standards about highway bridges. Two solutions are studied : the use of blind bolts and the design of an special extrusion to join the deck to the beams. For each of these solutions, a feasability study is led. Two models of blind bolts are identified, then modeled by finite elements to determine wether they match the CAN/CSA-S6-2014 requirements about slip-critical joints. The solutions explored in this project are finally campared by the mean of SWOT analysis, in order to bring out their strenghts, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Les tabliers métalliques à dalle orthotrope sont sensibles au phénomène de fatigue produit par les charges des poids lourds du trafic. Ce comportement n'est pas précisément prédit avec les méthodes de l'Eurocode 3, compte tenu de la complexité des effets locaux et de la connaissance insuffisante du rôle mécanique du revêtement (diffusion des charges et participation à la flexion locale). De plus l'augmentation du trafic des camions et éventuellement celle des charges admissibles par essieu en Europe tend à rendre ce problème bien plus critique. Le renforcement de ces tabliers est donc souhaitable de façon à prolonger la durée de vie des ponts existants, et aussi augmenter la durabilité des nouveaux ponts. Le béton fibré à ultra hautes performances (BFUP) a été envisagé comme nouvelle solution de revêtement, étant donné ses propriétés mécaniques, ses possibilités de mise en œuvre et sa durabilité. L'objectif de cette thèse, réalisée dans le cadre du projet ANR Orthoplus, est de quantifier expérimentalement l'apport des revêtements couramment utilisés dans les structures à dalle orthotrope et de valider la solution innovante en BFUP. Des essais statiques et dynamiques sur corps d'épreuve à grande échelle (2,40x4,00) m2 ont été réalisés sur la plate-forme d'essai des structures de l'IFSTTAR. Quatre corps d'épreuve ont été testés : tôle de platelage de 14 mm non revêtue et revêtue de 80 mm de béton bitumineux, tôle de 10 mm revêtue de 35 mm de BFUP et tôle de 12 mm revêtue de 35 mm de BFUP. L'influence des différents types de chargement positionnés au centre des corps d'épreuve a été analysée : plaques métalliques type Eurocode 1 et vraies roues de camion. L'étude a porté sur le détail de fatigue: liaison auget-tôle de platelage entre pièces de pont. La contrainte géométrique de fatigue (extrapolation au point chaud) a été évaluée expérimentalement en utilisant deux schémas d'extrapolation linéaire des déformations à proximité du cordon de soudure du détail étudié, le schéma du rapport CECA et celui proposé par l'Institut International de Soudure, à partir des mesures réalisées au-dessous de la tôle de platelage (σT) et sur l'âme de l'auget (σA).La cohérence entre estimation quasi-statique des déformations et comportement sous cycles de fatigue a été vérifiée, ainsi que la rigidification importante apportée par le BFUP, bien que ce dernier ne participe pas avec une connexion totale. Les résultats expérimentaux ont été confrontés à des modèles de différents niveaux de complexité qu'il reste nécessaire de calibrer empiriquement pour prévoir les contraintes géométriques. A partir des contraintes de fatigue obtenues expérimentalement, nous avons calculé la durée de vie des dalles orthotropes testés à l'aide de la règle du cumul linéaire de l'endommagement. Enfin nous avons mené une étude par analyse de cycle de vie d'un pont à dalle orthotrope pour vérifier la pertinence environnementale des différentes solutions de revêtement. Les nombreuses données expérimentales acquises dans ce travail sont de nature à permettre une amélioration significative du dimensionnement rationnel des tabliers à dalle orthotrope et de leur revêtement pour une meilleure prise en compte de leur gestion durable

Le présent document traite de l'utilisation d'un nouveau platelage en aluminium, présentement développé à l'Université Laval. Ce nouveau platelage, d'une hauteur de 200 mm, se veut une alternative aux dalles en béton armé couramment utilisées dans les ponts routiers. Il est proposé de connecter le platelage à des poutres en acier à l'aide d'une connexion boulonnée antiglissement utilisant des boulons en acier galvanisé ASTM F3125/F3125M-15a de grade A325 et de diamètre M20. L'optique est de développer une action composite totale afin d'obtenir la pleine capacité de la poutre mixte. Cependant, le coefficient de dilatation thermique de l'aluminium étant le double de celui de l'acier, des mouvements différentiels entre le platelage en aluminium et les poutres en acier sont possibles suite à des variations de température. Le comportement de cet assemblage sous les charges thermiques doit donc être étudié. Ce projet propose d'utiliser la méthode des éléments finis à l'aide du logiciel commercial Abaqus afin de déterminer le comportement de cet assemblage face à la combinaison des charges thermiques et mécaniques à l'état limite d'utilisation (ÉLUT) ainsi qu'à l'état limite ultime (ÉLUL). Ces charges sont déterminées à partir des directives du Code canadien sur le calcul des ponts routiers (CAN/CSA S6-14). Les résultats montrent qu'il est possible de développer l'action composite totale entre le platelage en aluminium et les poutres en acier. Aussi, en suivant les recommandations prescrites par cette étude, il est possible de prévenir le glissement sous les charges thermiques et de maintenir le comportement antiglissement de l'assemblage à l'ÉLUT en plus de prévenir la rupture de l’assemblage boulonné sous la combinaison des charges thermiques et mécaniques à l’ÉLUL.
This project concerns the use of a new aluminium bridge deck that is being developed at Université Laval. It is a 200 mm deep aluminium bridge deck, which represents an alternative to the reinforced concrete slabs in bridges. This project proposes to connect the aluminium bridge deck to steel girders using galvanized ASTM F3125/F3125M-15a grade A325 bolts of diameter M20 in a slip-critical connection. Full composite action between the deck and the girders is expected in order to develop the full capacity of the composite section. However, the coefficient of thermal expansion of aluminium, being twice that of steel, differential movements may occur during temperature changes. To understand the behavior of the bolted connection under such thermal loadings, this project uses finite element model with the Abaqus software. The combinations of dead, live and thermal loads at the ultimate limit state (ULS) and serviceability limit state (SLS) are studied. The loads are calculated according to the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CAN/CSA S6-14). Results confirm that full composite action between the aluminium deck and the steel girders can be achieved. Moreover, by following the recommendations of this study, it is possible to eliminate the sliding that may occur during the thermal loading of the beam at the serviceability limit state (SLS). This study also offers a solution to prevent the failure of the bolted connections following the combination of thermal and mechanical loads.

In Chile, for example, the financial sector collapsed, leaving the government with responsibility for extensive foreign debts. In the United States, large numbers of government-insured savings and loans became insolvent-and the government picked up the tab. In Dallas, Texas, real estate prices and construction continued to boom even after vacancies had skyrocketed, and then suffered a dramatic collapse. Also in the United States, the junk bond market, which fueled the takeover wave, had a similar boom and bust.

This chapter examines R.K. Narayan's novel The English Teacher as a narrative of caste erasure. As he goes on to construct his “authentic,” “brahminical” India, he effectively erases caste-others by creating an exclusive, selective imaginary of Indian nation as upper-caste. This construction requires caste erasure and suppression of “queerness” that constantly poses a threat to caste-based ideological formulations of Indian society as brahminical, Hindu, and hetero-normative. Through the close reading of the text, the author shows that caste not only damages Dalits, but it makes a deleterious impact on the upper castes and by extension on the whole Indian society.

In Algeria , the War of Independence (1954-62) and civil war of the 1990s are the two events which have marked the history of the country due not only to the extent of the violence but also the ideological manipulation of both events. The anamnesis effect identified by academic analysis with respect to these conflicts is observed in the production of a generation of contemporary artists for whom memory, in its broadest sense, is no longer about an untouchable past but instead has become a means to construct, and be active in, the present in a way that is not overdetermined by a single notion of identity. In drawing upon the archive — such as film, documentary or photograph — contemporary Algerian artists such as Ammar Bouras, Mustapha Sedjal, Sofiane Zouggar, or Dalila Dalléas Bouzar bear witness to a ‘need for history’ which has to be situated both at a national and transnational level. If, for artists, the use of the archive is as much a mark of authenticity as a reminder of the collective memory, its reappropriation questions the role of the image in the construction of collective imaginary of the post-independent Algerian society. Based on interviews with the artists this chapter problematizes the process of a return to the archive.

Abstract This chapter is the final one in the ethnographic trilogy. It presents an additional perspective on the notion of responsible agency and participation by examining Sari’s protest narratives in yet another situation. In conjunction with the previous two chapters, these sequences of conversational narratives assist us in clarifying how participation is controlled by a sense of responsibility toward others. Others can mean other participants, or it can mean a nonpresent group such as the factory workers, the factory’s management, predatory males on the streets at night, the sultan and his faithful abdi-dalem, religious organizations and clubs, and the numerous other communities through which the rules of social harmony are enforced. The nonpresent community shapes Sari’s voice in a way that makes it a significant aspect of her story and, hence, her identity. We see that Sari’s narrated experiences were those of her factory cohort’s to the extent at which it became impossible to distinguish individual agency and responsibility. Since we cannot distinguish the speaker from the community in these stories, I have argued that storytelling is a reflection of these communities more so than of the speaker. As we have also seen in theoretical discussions, storytelling is synonymous with constructing identity. We still need to examine more closely what an identity that is not distinct from community looks like. We also investigate the social burdens of adhering to such an identity.

Klyde Warren Park is Dallas’s new town plaza which has literally and figuratively bridged the city’s downtown cultural district with the burgeoning mixed-use neighborhoods to the north, reshaping the city and catalyzing economic development. The park brings Dallas-sites together in new ways, with dozens of free activities and amenities to offer every week, from concerts and lectures to games and fitness/ yoga classes, all within a beautiful five-acre urban oasis. The park decks over the sunken Woodall Rodgers Freeway, which had been an imposing barrier between downtown and the densely populated Uptown neighborhood. Spurred by a study in 2002 that confirmed the feasibility of a “deck park” over the freeway, leaders of the Dallas business community formed the non-profit Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation, which was responsible for the operations and maintenance of the new park with its operating hours from 6am to 11pm. After ten years of planning, design, fundraising, and construction, Klyde Warren Park opened in the fall of 2012 and was immediately embraced by the community, cementing its place as a world-class urban park.

Già da alcuni decenni le discipline che si occupano di storia urbana possono avvalersi delle potenzialità legate allo sviluppo delle tecnologie informatiche. L’impiego dei GIS sviluppati su cartografia storica, in grado di archiviare grandi quantità di dati e riferirli alle rispettive coordinate spaziali, permette oggi di riconsiderare alcuni fenomeni nella loro distribuzione territoriale. In questa direzione all’interno del DICATeA dell’Università degli Studi di Parma sul finire del 2012 ha preso avvio un progetto multidisciplinare che prevede la realizzazione di un HGIS sui catasti storici figurativi della città. La presenza di ben quattro catasti geometrici storici, realizzati a partire dalla seconda metà del Settecento e basati sulla stessa matrice territoriale, permette di impostare un sistema a più soglie e di effettuare una lettura regressiva della storia urbana dalla fine del XVIII secolo ad oggi. La scelta di lavorare su fonti di tipo catastale, oltre a essere legata alla quantità e alla qualità dei dati presenti, è altresì favorita dalla duplice struttura dei catasti moderni che, abbinando descrizioni di carattere cartografico a descrizioni di carattere testuale, ben si prestano ad essere analizzati sfruttando appieno le potenzialità offerte dalle strumentazioni GIS. La rappresentazione zenitale dei catasti geometrici-particellari consente di ottenere, grazie a operazioni di georeferenziazione, la sovrapposizione tra diverse mappe (anche realizzate in diversi periodi storici) e una lettura geometricamente e dimensionalmente corretta. Con la realizzazione del GIS sarà quindi possibile studiare alcuni fenomeni storici da un punto di vista spaziale e operare letture sincroniche e diacroniche sulla storia della città. Already for several decades disciplines that are involved in urban history can take advantage of the potential offered by the development of information technology. Nowadays the use of GIS developed on historical maps, able to store large amounts of data and relate them to their spatial coordinates, allows to reconsider some phenomena in their spatial distribution. In this direction within the DICATeA of the University of Parma at the end of 2012 started a multidisciplinary project that provides for the construction of a HGIS on historic figurative cadastres of the city. The presence of four historical geometric cadastres, made from the second half of the eighteenth century and based on the same territorial matrix, allows to realize a multi-thresholds system and a regressive reading of urban history from the late eighteenth century to today. The choice to work on this type of sources, in addition to be linked to the quantity and quality of data present, is also encouraged by dual structure of modern registers that, combining cartographic descriptions with textual descriptions of characters, lend themeselves to be analyzed by exploiting the full potential offered by GIS. The zenithal representation of the detailed-geometric maps allows to obtain, thanks to georeferencing operations, the overlap between different maps (also made in different historical periods) and a geometrically and dimensionally correct reading. With the implementation of GIS will be possible to study some historical phenomena from a spatial point of view and operate synchronic and diachronic readings on the history of the city.

Анотація:
This paper gives an overview on the simulation of the on-orbit construction of structural variable modular spacecraft by robots using Modelica. For this purpose, a new concept using so-called tensor bodies was developed which enables the fast and continuous simulation of complex scenarios even during structural changes. This research was part of two ESA and EU projects. An overview of the modeling and simulation approach will be given. The scenarios include the on-orbit re-configuration of a modular satellite with a walking robot manipulator and the construction of a modular space antenna array platform with a walking robot with two arms and a torso.
