Abstract Two experiments were done to compare growth performance of pigs weaned at 21 ± 2 d of age that were housed in unsanitary pens and fed non-medicated diets containing alternative proteins versus spray-dried porcine (SDPP; Exp. 1) or bovine (SDBP; Exp. 2) plasma. Experiment 1 used 360 pigs fed 1 of 6 experimental diets from d 0 to 15, followed by a common diet fed to all pigs from d 15 to 28 post-weaning with 11 pens of 5 or 6 pigs/pen allotted per treatment. Experimental diets were based on 8.04% soy protein concentrate (SPC) as the control protein or a similar diet with either 2.50 or 5.00% SDPP or 0.17, 0.33, or 1.00% activated porcine plasma (APP) replacing SPC on an equal Lys basis. Experiment 2 used 300 pigs that were fed 1 of 6 experimental diets from d 0 to 14 post-weaning with 10 pens of 4 to 6 pigs/pen allotted per diet. Experiment 2 diets were based on 8.04% SPC as the control protein source or similar diets with the following specialty proteins replacing SPC on an equal Lys basis: 0.40% APP; 10.66% enzymatically hydrolyzed soy and yeast protein (EHSY); a combination (CB) of 6.36% EHSY, 0.40% APP, and 2.50% fish meal; 0.44% spray-dried whole egg from hyper-immunized hens (IEGG); or 5.00% SDBP. Results of Exp. 1 indicated pigs fed SDPP diets had greater (P < 0.05) ADG and ADFI at d 7 and 15 compared with pigs fed SPC or APP diets. Gain:feed at d 7 was higher (P < 0.05) for pigs fed diets with SDPP compared with other diets. Average BW at d 7 was greater (P < 0.05) for pigs fed diets with SDPP compared to other diets and pigs fed the 5.00% SDPP diet had greater BW at d 15 compared to diets without SDPP. At d 28 BW was greater (P < 0.05) for pigs fed the 2.50% SDPP diet compared with pigs fed diets with SPC, 0.33% APP, or 1.00% APP. Performance of pigs fed the SPC diet did not differ from APP diets at any period of the study. In Exp. 2, pigs fed the SDBP diet had greater (P < 0.05) BW, ADG, and ADFI at d 7 and 14 compared with pigs fed the other diets. Gain:feed did not differ significantly among diets. Average daily gain and ADFI of pigs did not differ among diets that did not contain SDBP. In conclusion, during the initial 2 wk post-weaning, pigs housed in unsanitary pens and fed non-medicated diets with APP in Exp. 1, or APP, EHSY, CB, or IEGG in Exp. 2 had equivalent performance to pigs fed SPC; however, performance of pigs fed diets with the alternatives was not equivalent to diets containing SDPP in Exp. 1 or SDBP in Exp. 2.

This research considers the potential motivations of using a social app for the realization of donations and probe the symbolic interactions that occur during solidarity exchanges mediated by technology. Smartphones and their applications are inseparable increasingly part of the daily lives of people who spend all their time with their devices: always on, always connected, as close as the shirt itself. Applications for mobile devices -apps- are the software installed in these smartphones that perform or assist in performing tasks for their users. Among the tools that the various types of apps present, there is a category of social apps, which are those facing a social cause. The conducted study noted when addressing the social application Solidarius, created for realization of donations to the group of welfare Sociedade S??o Vicente de Paulo, Vicentinos, which by enabling the realization of solidarity mediated by technology, materializes a new type of solidarity , anonymous, but allows the existence of a link, which excludes the direct involvement with people in common vulnerability in voluntary actions, but allows the user a sense of belonging, even if momentarily, to a larger institution or cause himself, and generate feelings of satisfaction and gratitude. These observations were made possible by the bibliography study published on the subject, the data analysis and information gathered during interviews with the developers of social application on screen and representatives of the institution that it will use, and the above discussion in focus group held with potential users of the application. As a result, to be detailed in subsequent research, it was realized that social applications allow its users an empowerment, regarding the perception that are interfering with reality and contributing to a cause, and that the technology of apps, for convenience, ease and closeness they have with the user, can be instruments of social change.
Esta pesquisa considera as potenciais motiva????es do uso de um aplicativo -app social para a realiza????o de doa????es e sonda as intera????es simb??licas que ocorrem durante as trocas solid??rias mediadas pela tecnologia. Os smartphones e seus indissoci??veis aplicativos fazem cada vez mais parte do cotidiano das pessoas, que passam todo o tempo com seus aparelhos: sempre ligados, sempre conectados, t??o pr??ximos como a pr??pria roupa do corpo. Os aplicativos para dispositivos m??veis -apps- s??o os softwares instalados nestes smartphones que realizam ou auxiliam a realiza????o de tarefas pelos seus usu??rios. Entre as ferramentas que os v??rios tipos de apps apresentam, existe a categoria de apps sociais, que s??o aqueles voltados para uma causa social. O estudo conduzido observou, ao abordar o aplicativo social SOLID??RIUS, criado para realiza????o de doa????es para o grupo de assist??ncia social Sociedade S??o Vicente de Paulo- Vicentinos, que ao possibilitar a realiza????o da solidariedade mediada pela tecnologia, materializa-se um novo tipo de solidariedade, an??nima, mas que possibilita a exist??ncia de um v??nculo, que exclui o envolvimento direto com as pessoas em situa????o de vulnerabilidade comum nas a????es de voluntariado, mas permite ao usu??rio um sentido de pertencimento, ainda que moment??neo, a uma institui????o ou causa maior que ele mesmo, al??m de gerar os sentimentos de satisfa????o e gratid??o. Estas observa????es foram possibilitadas pelo estudo de material bibliogr??fico publicado sobre o assunto, pela an??lise de dados e informa????es colhidas durante a realiza????o de entrevistas com os desenvolvedores do aplicativo social em tela e representantes da institui????o que dele far?? uso e pelo debate exposto em grupo focal realizado com potenciais usu??rios do aplicativo. Анотація:
La Maladie d’Alzheimer est une affection à neurodégénérescence importante qui comporte des plaques amyloïdes et des dégénérescences neurofibrillaires (DNFs). Les plaques sont majoritairement composées de peptide Aβ issu de la protéine APP. Les DNFs sont une agrégation de la protéine Tau hyperphosphorylée en filaments insolubles. Dans les neurones, l’accumulation du domaine cytoplasmique de l’APP allant de la membrane au site caspase (Jcasp) induit une apoptose in vitro et in vivo. Dans ce modèle comme en pathologie la protéine SET, impliquée dans la phosphorylation de Tau, se délocalise du noyau vers le cytoplasme. Le but du travail suivant a été de préciser la séquence des événements précoces conduisant au processus délétère en aval à l’aide du modèle Jcasp. Plusieurs données ont été identifiées : la protéine Egr-1 est potentiellement impliquée dans l’apoptose induite par le Jcasp car dans ce modèle son gène est précocement activé et elle est très vite phosphorylée. D’un autre côté, le signal de mort se traduit par un excès d’APP/APLP2 à la surface de la cellule dû à la plus forte affinité de PAT1 pour Jcasp qu’APP/APLP2. Cet excès induit la sortie de SET dans le cytoplasme, d’où elle induit une hyperphosphorylation de Tau. SET agirait par inhibition de la PP2A, principale protéine phosphatase capable de déphosphoryler Tau. Peut-être existe-t-il une relation entre l’APP clivée au site caspase et l’hyperphosphorylation de Tau via la délocalisation de SET du noyau vers le cytoplasme ? En contribuant à une meilleure compréhension des mécanismes impliqués dans la maladie d’Alzheimer, ces travaux pourraient participer à l’élaboration de nouvelles stratégies thérapeutique

La maladie d’Alzheimer (MA) est une maladie neurodégénérative affectant plus de 800000 personnes en France. La majorité des cas sont des formes sporadiques associées à des facteurs de risque, dont le principal est l’allèle ε4 de l’Apolipoprotéine E. Une minorité de cas est caractérisée par une transmission autosomique dominante et un début précoce (ADEOAD). L’identification de mutations dans les gènes APP, PSEN1 et PSEN2 a permis de comprendre les mécanismes physiopathologiques de la MA et de définir l’hypothèse de la cascade amyloïde. Notre équipe ayant précédemment identifié des duplications du gène APP à l’origine d’ADEOAD, nous nous sommes demandés, dans le cadre de la MA sporadique, si une augmentation d’expression d’APP pouvait être responsables du développement de la maladie. Nous avons montré par RT-PCR multiplexe fluorescente que les individus atteints de formes sporadiques de MA ne présentent pas d’augmentation de l’expression d’APP par rapport à des individus cognitivement sains, contrairement à des individus présentant une duplication d’APP. Dans le cadre des formes ADEOAD, nous avons recherché de nouvelles causes génétiques potentiellement causales chez des patients sans mutation ou duplication dans les gènes connus. Nous avons réalisé un séquençage d’exomes chez 14 ADEOAD, que nous avons analysé en utilisant une stratégie de récurrence. Cela nous a permis d’identifier des mutations dans le gène SORL1 comme potentiellement responsables d’ADEOAD. Enfin, nous nous sommes intéressés à une maladie neuropsychiatrique, la maladie de Fahr. Suite à l’identification d’une famille présentant une transmission autosomique dominante au sein du laboratoire, nous avons recherché les causes sous-jacentes à cette pathologie par séquençage d’exomes avec une stratégie intrafamiliale. Ainsi, nous avons mis en évidence une mutation au sein du gène PDGFRB potentiellement responsable de la pathologie.

ZusammenfassungGamifizierungsstrategien werden in Fitness-, Gesundheits- und Wohlbefindens-Apps weitläufig eingesetzt. In diesem Text wird untersucht, ob und inwieweit Gamifizierungen ethisch problematische Formen von Einflussnahme darstellen können. Dabei besteht zum einen die Gefahr, dass sie in der Motivation der Nutzer:innen auf unzulässige Formen von Paternalismus zurückgreifen. Zum anderen könnten hier ethisch bedenkliche Manipulationsstrategien im Spiel sein, wenn Apps versuchen, Nutzer:innen möglichst lange in der App zu halten und zur vermehrten Datenpreisgabe zu bewegen. Im Text wird dafür argumentiert, dass dies vor allem a) von der Schwere der motivationalen Effekte, b) dem Grad ihrer Erkennbarkeit, c) der Übereinstimmung der Ziele von Nutzer:in und App-Betreiber:innen, sowie d) der Wahrscheinlichkeit und Schwere unintendierter Nebenfolgen abhängt.

AbstractIn 2020, the UN launched the “Decade of Action” to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the year 2030. As the SDGs are interdependent, intersectional and interdisciplinary, so must be their solutions. This chapter argues that the best way to identify, develop, and scale solutions of such quality is (digital) entrepreneurship, building on the principles of open innovation, cutting-edge technologies, and social business. The COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 in particular serves as a stark reminder of the interconnected nature of the SDGs and the challenges we face in achieving them. In this article, we explore the third SDG (SDG-3), “Good health and well-being”. We show the potential for digital entrepreneurship to foster the rise of new forms of digital health care and to accelerate the digitalization of the healthcare sector. Due to both perceived and real issues of regulatory compliance, user experience, and long investment/equipment use cycles, SDG-3 has been one of the slowest to adopt innovative solutions by far. We discuss specific areas, such as blended reality or quantum computing, for emerging and future digital health applications. In this chapter, we provide: the “memoreBox” of social start-up RetroBrain R&D, a special edition of gamelab.berlin’s app “Singleton”, and D-Wave’s free access to its cloud quantum computing services. All these examples of digital entrepreneurship utilize in whole or in part a combination of open innovation, future and emerging technologies, and social business, thus supporting our rationale. The article closes with recommendations for different stakeholders of entrepreneurial ecosystems, demonstrating both the necessity and the potential of digital entrepreneurship for the SDGs and the “Decade of Action”.

This work presents a comprehensive review of e-health and d-health systems and the individual components used in each. It presents information and communication technologies to detect, control, and manage NTDs, highlighting their features and functionalities. The chapter highlights some biosensors explicitly developed to diagnose NTDs, paving the way for an internet of things-inclusive e-health system for NTDs. This chapter proposes an internet of things-inclusive e-health model for NTDs offering special services to NTD-affected people besides other fundamental e-health services for a smarter medical environment for patients. The model shall be useful to implement an internet of things-inclusive e-health system including applications and mobile Apps. The e-health system, including app and the application, shall be useful to NTD-affected people, volunteers, attendants, doctors, and researchers. It shall also benefit governments, policymakers, social activists, and other stakeholders to build an e-health vision, action plan, and monitoring framework.

Intelligent pigging is an obvious first preference for online precise integrity assessment for any pipeline. Site Specific Assessment, Detail Engineering & Committed approach resulted in Feasibility & Development of ILI Tool, Practical Testing in fore hand before actual pigging & onward Integrity Assessment of the pipeline conducted by accomplishing Successful ILI run.

The popularity of mobile Internet and the application of big data and artificial intelligence technology have brought new development opportunities for the online rental industry. A large number of rental apps have rapidly occupied the market. Rental apps can help tenants screen and reserve housing in real time according to their needs, so users' demand for products has gradually changed from satisfying basic functional needs to providing good user experience.Objective: Because existing researches mainly focus on the construction of user experience index system of rental APP and the subjective evaluation of the user experience of APP, few scholars have conducted researches on the user experience of rental APP based on physiological experiments. Therefore, this study applied the eye-movement technology of D-lab experimental platform to conduct a comparative study on the user experience of four representative rental apps, and compared the functions, interactive process architecture and interface layout design of the four apps, providing reference value for the design of similar apps.Content: In this experiment, four representative rental apps in design are selected as experimental materials, namely Anjuke, Beike, Ziroom and Baletu. The experimental task was to ask the participants to select the matched housing resources and complete the rental on the four apps according to the given rental conditions. The whole experiment was completed based on the D-Lab experimental platform, which could record the interactive behaviors and eye movement data of participants during the experiment. After the experiment is completed, participants need to accept the interview of subjective evaluation of user experience, and the experience and existing problems of users in the process of use will be recorded as auxiliary materials for evaluation. Finally, based on interactive behavior video, eye movement data, fixation path diagram and heat map, this paper compared and analyzed the four apps from two aspects of interactive process architecture and interface layout design.Results: (1) The results of eye movement data showed that the order of average gaze count and average saccadic count was Anjuke > Baletu > Ziroom > Beike, which might be because the interface information density of Anjuke was relatively high and the layout lacked regularity, which made it difficult for users to search the target information. The layout of the interface of Ziroom and Beike is sparse, and the interest area of users is less. (2) According to the analysis of user interaction behavior, Anjuke has various functions, and users need to jump to the page several times to select the target function, which is a complicated interaction process; The interface function partition of Baletu is clear, the navigation function division is primary and secondary, and the interaction process is simple. (3) According to the analysis of the interface layout based on the heat map, it can be seen that the functional modules of Anjuke are not clearly divided and the interface layout is not easy to operate; The interface layout of Baletu adopts card design, compact layout, clear structure, and unified color style, good identification and aesthetics.

Background: Transgenic models of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) overexpress human APP, PS1 or PS2 mutations. These models present amyloid-beta pathology but do not recapitulate the complexity of AD. Interestingly, the transgenic rat model TgF344-AD, which overpresses human APP and PS1 mutations, seems to follow a more similar disease progression, manifesting progressive tau tangle-like pathology and late cognitive impairment. Yet, whether they develop energy metabolism changes as we see in AD remains unclear. Objective: Here, we investigated brain bioenergetics in 6-7 months F344-AD/WT rats, an age where animals present early amyloid pathology but no memory impairment - mimicking the human preclinical AD. Methods: We used high-resolution respirometry to assess mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation capacity (OXPHOS), electron transfer capacity (ET), respiratory control ratio (RCR) and reserve capacity (R) in brain homogenates of male and female F344-AD and WT rats (n = 6-8, per group). Results: The results were analyzed by Welch’s t test: 1. Frontal cortex a)OXPHOS (p=0.307); b)ET (p=0.99); c)RCR (p=0.138); d)R (p=0.482). 2. Hippocampus a)OXPHOS (p=0.446); b)ET (p=0.409); c)RCR (p=0.952); d)R (p=0.503). Conclusion: In conclusion, at 6-7 months, changes in the respirometry in the brain of F344-AD rats were not observed. We hypothesize that these measures will be altered at older ages.

Patients need the ability to accurately and efficiently communicate their preferences across outcome domains to their healthcare providers.1-7 No existing system provides an efficient and timely approach to collect and communicate patient preferences across outcome domains to support shared decision making (SDM) in orthopaedic practice.2-4,8-19 The overarching goal of this research is to design, build, and test an app that collects baseline patient preferences and health status across orthopaedic outcomes and reports this information to the provider for use in patient care. A core component of the app is a Direct-Weighting (DW) preference assessment approach, originated from our prior research, and applied in a touchscreen based interactive design. It is envisioned that patients will use the app after scheduling a first visit to a surgeon for a new orthopaedic condition. Direct weighting (DW) approaches calculate patient-specific preference weights across outcomes by asking patients to disperse portions of a hypothetical “whole” across outcomes in a manner that reflects a patient’s preferences.20 DW has low respondent burden but it requires respondents to make “implicit” comparisons which may be difficult to conceptualize.20 However, the DW approach has become generally accepted in the quality-of-life literature and it has been shown that patients dividing up pieces of a “pie” across quality-of-life domains yields valid representations of patient preferences across the domains.20-22 However, the DW approach has not been validated with specific clinical scenarios using a clinically focused set of outcomes or by using a mobile software app. Drawing on prior research, we iteratively design and develop the app with input from prior DW research, informaticians, and clinicians. We use a qualitative approach to pilot test the app with 20 first-time visit patients presenting with joint pain and/or function deficiency. Participants were interviewed about their outcome preferences for care, used the app to prioritize outcome preferences, answered interview questions about their experience using the app, and completed a mHealth App Usability Questionnaire (MAUQ). Interview questions focused on the utility and usability of the mobile app for communicating with their provider, and capability of the app to capture their outcome preferences. Results validated five core preference domains, with most users dividing their 100-point allocation across 1-3 domains. The tool received moderate to high usability scores. Patients with older age and lower literacy found the DW approach more difficult in terms of allocating 100 points across 5 domains. Suggestions for DW interface interaction improvement included instantiation of a token/points oriented DW preference scoring methodology rather than a 1-10 sliding scale approach for improved preference weighting cognition and SDM with a provider. As more patient reported outcome (PRO) apps hit the marketplace across a broad spectrum of health conditions, these results provide evidence for a DW approach and interactive design for patients to communicate their treatment preferences to their providers.References:1.Baumhauer JF, Bozic KJ. Review question / Objective: The objective of this scoping review is to identify and characterize machine learning algorithms used in data analysis of healthy lifestyle. The specific objectives are the study of a) terminology, b) healthy lifestyle variables analysed either input or output, c) programs and libraries used to analyse data, and d) sources, types, and quality of data analysed. Eligibility criteria: In this scoping review the inclusion criteria from studies that provide empirical information are as follows: a) studies must use machine learning models either supervised or unsupervised learning to analyses lifestyle data (input or output), b) studies must use real data from individuals for analysis, and c) the language of the studies must be English or Spanish. Furthermore, theorical studies focusing on a) the mathematical approach to explain algorithm construction, and b) guidelines for implementing the use of machine learning in the field of health will be excluded. Additionally, studies with simulated data and those aiming to develop a robot or app based on machine learning will be excluded. Regarding lifestyle, studies whose main topic is substance use, such as alcohol intake, or those related to smoking cessation will be manually excluded.
