To develop highly efficient thermoelectric materials, the generation of homogeneous heterostructures in a matrix is considered to mitigate the interdependency of the thermoelectric compartments. In this study, Cu2Te nanoparticles were introduced onto Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 n-type materials and their thermoelectric properties were investigated in terms of the amount of Cu2Te nanoparticles. A homogeneous dispersion of Cu2Te nanoparticles was obtained up to 0.4 wt.% Cu2Te, whereas the Cu2Te nanoparticles tended to agglomerate with each other at greater than 0.6 wt.% Cu2Te. The highest power factor was obtained under the optimal dispersion conditions (0.4 wt.% Cu2Te incorporation), which was considered to originate from the potential barrier on the interface between Cu2Te and Bi2Te2.7Se0.3. The Cu2Te incorporation also reduced the lattice thermal conductivity, and the dimensionless figure of merit ZT was increased to 0.75 at 374 K for 0.4 wt.% Cu2Te incorporation compared with that of 0.65 at 425 K for pristine Bi2Te2.7Se0.3. This approach could also be an effective means of controlling the temperature dependence of ZT, which could be modulated against target applications.

The copper tellurolate cluster [(Cu6(TePh)6(PEtPh2)5] (1) has been loaded into the pores of a trimethylsilylated MCM-41 (TMS–MCM-41) framework. Solutions of 1 in tetrahydrofuran lead to good impregnation weight % (~10 wt%, 1). The resulting material was analysed by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), nitrogen sorption isotherms, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, 31P CP MAS NMR spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was observed that the loading process proceeds with the intact cluster 1 being present within the hexagonal architecture. The intact nature of 1 makes it an ideal candidate for condensation by photochemical or thermal means. Both of these condensation treatments increase the Cu:Te ratio of 1 to approach that observed in binary semiconductor Cu2Te. The condensation process was analysed by GC–MS spectrometry and characterization of the condensed, isolated composites was performed by TGA, EDX analysis, 31P CP MAS NMR spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption, and TEM measurements. Thermal condensation results in the formation of Cu2Te particles, whereas photochemical condensation yields larger copper-tellurolate nanoclusters.Key words: copper, tellurium, cluster, MCM-41, trimethylsilylated, photolysis, thermolysis, Cu2Te, composite, mesoporous material.

AbstractThe layers of mixed copper chalcogenides, CuxS-CuyTe, were formed on the surface of polyamide using solutions of potassium and sodium telluropentathionates, K2TeS4O6 and Na2TeS4O6, respectively, and of telluropentathionic acid, H2TeS4O6, as precursors of chalcogens. The concentration of sorbed chalcogens increased with the increasing time of the treatment, concentration and temperature of precursor solution. CuxS-CuyTe layers are formed on the surface of polyamide after the treatment of chalcogenized polymer with Cu(II/I) salt solution. The concentration of copper in the layer increases with the increase of chalcogenization duration, concentration and the temperature of chalcogenization solution. In the surface of CuxS-CuyTe layers various copper, sulfur, tellurium and oxygen compounds (Cu2S, CuS, S8, CuxS, CuyTe, Cu(OH)2 and TeO2) were present. Chalcogenides were the major components in the layer. Chalcogenide phases — digenite, Cu1.8S, djurleite, Cu1.9375S, anilite, Cu7S4, geerite, CuS2, chalcocite, Cu2S, tetragonal Cu3.18Te2, Cu2.72Te, hexagonal Cu2Te, Cu4Te3, Cu1.80Te, Cu1.85Te2, and orthorhombic vulcanite, CuTe were identified in the layers by X-ray diffraction. Electrical sheet resistance of CuxS-CuyTe layers vary from ∼ 1.0 kW cm−2 to 4×103 kΩ cm−2. It is concluded that the formation of chalcogenide layers proceeds in the form of islands which grow into larger agglomerates. Use of the gathered data enables design and formation of the CuxS-CuyTe layers with desired conductivities.

Designing photocathodes with nanostructures has been considered a promising way to improve the photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting activity. Cu2Te is one of the promising semiconducting materials for photoelectrochemical water splitting, the performance of Cu2Te photocathodes remains poor. In this work, we report the preparation of Cu2Te nanorods (NRs) and vertical nanosheets (NSs) assembled film on Cu foil through a vapor phase epitaxy (VPE) technique. The obtained nano architectures as photocathodes toward photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance was tested afterwards for the first time. Optimized Cu2Te NRs and NSs photocathodes showed significant photocurrent density up to 0.53 mA cm−2 and excellent stability under illumination. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and Mott–Schottky analysis were used to analyze in more detail the performance of Cu2Te NRs and NSs photocathodes. From these analyses, we propose that Cu2Te NRs and NSs photocathodes are potential candidate materials for use in solar water splitting.

Crystalline Cu2Te has recently attracted a great deal of attention owing to its good performance in thermoelectric materials. Yet, knowledge of the amorphous phase is still insufficient, which may restrict its practical application. Here, we have studied the structural and bonding characteristics of amorphous Cu2Te by ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. We show that, compared with its crystal phase, the Cu atoms bond more Cu than Te atoms in amorphous Cu2Te and Te atoms predominantly bond with Cu atoms. In detail, the amorphous Cu2Te is made up of Cu–Te network structures and Cu–Cu high-coordinated configurations, presenting the hexagonal and icosahedral structures, respectively. This result is probably ascribed to both the stronger bonding ability of Cu–Cu bonds and the multivalence of Te atoms. Our findings enrich the knowledge of the local structure and the bonding nature of amorphous Cu2Te, which can guide the design of good performance Cu2Te based thermoelectric devices further.

An electrodeposition method for fabrication of CuTe and Cu2Te thin films is presented. The films’ growth is based on the epitaxial electrodeposition of Cu and Te alternately with different electrochemical parameter, respectively. The deposited thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electronic microscopy (FE-SEM) with an energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyzer, and FTIR studies. The results suggest that the epitaxial electrodeposition is an ideal method for deposition of compound semiconductor films for photoelectric applications.

Because of the high carrier concentration, copper telluride (Cu2Te) has a relatively low Seebeck coefficient and high thermal conductivity, which are not good for its thermoelectric performance. To simultaneously optimize carrier concentration, lower thermal conductivity and improve the stability, BiCuTeO, an oxygen containing compound with lower carrier concentration, is in situ formed in Cu2Te by a method of combining self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) with spark plasma sintering (SPS). With the incorporation of BiCuTeO, the carrier concentration decreased from 8.1 × 1020 to 3.8 × 1020 cm−3, bringing the increase of power factor from ~1.91 to ~2.97 μW cm−1 K−2 at normal temperature. At the same time, thermal conductivity reduced from 2.61 to 1.48 W m−1 K−1 at 623 K. Consequently, (Cu2Te)0.95-(BiCuTeO)0.05 composite sample reached a relatively high ZT value of 0.13 at 723 K, which is 41% higher than that of Cu2Te.

La fabrication du materiau thermoelectrique a facteur de merite eleve, dont la composition ag#. #5#8cu#. #2#9tl#. #9#4te avait ete precedemment etablie, necessite une connaissance parfaite des equilibres de phases du systeme quaternaire ag-cu-tl-te. Le present memoire est essentiellement consacre a cette etude. Une premiere partie decrit le diagramme des equilibres du systeme ag#2te-tl#2te, ainsi que les differents composes qui existent dans cette coupe. Ce travail apporte des eclaircissements precieux concernant la phase agtlte (domaine de solution solide et polymorphisme). Dans une deuxieme partie, l'auteur decrit les equilibres de phases dans les coupes du quaternaire: cutlte, - et -. De ces travaux il resulte la mise en evidence d'une zone de solution solide , de structure identique a celle de agtlte. Dans ce cas les atomes d'argent peuvent etre substitues par des atomes de cuivre et ou les sites des atomes de thallium peuvent etre partiellement vacants ou occupes par les atomes d'argent et de cuivre. La troisieme partie de l'ouvrage indique comment ces possibilites peuvent etre utilisees dans l'optimisation du materiau thermoelectrique et notamment pour son dopage. L'ensemble des resultats amene a une reflexion sur les problemes liant la composition chimique au nombre de porteurs de charge ainsi que sur la possibilite de preparation des materiaux poly et monocristallins

Cette thèse d’Histoire analyse le culte de Déméter, déesse de l'agriculture et de la fertilité, dans le cadre précis de l'Italie du Sud. Cette étude régionale d'un des cultes grecs les plus répandus dans le monde grec et montrant des facettes bien différentes d'une région à l'autre, a ouvert des perspectives très intéressantes. La question fondamentale soulevée par cette étude est celle de la place réservée au culte de Déméter en Grande Grèce, région de l'Occident grec où se côtoyaient Grecs et indigènes. Un travail préliminaire fut indispensable pour définir les critères d'identification du culte sur la base du matériel de Grèce propre, des Iles de la Mer Egée, de l'Asie Mineure et de la Sicile (chap. I). Seuls ces critères ont pu guider l'historien dans la composition d'un inventaire des testimonia du culte de Déméter de Grande Grèce. Ces derniers sont très variés : textes littéraires anciens, documents épigraphies, monnaies, iconographie des vases italiotes mais aussi attiques trouvés en Italie du Sud, et bien sûr testimonia archéologiques ont été réunis dans un catalogue topographique (Catalogue). Le recoupement typologique de ces sources très hétérogènes (chap. II) ont ensuite permis de leur donner tout leur sens, à l'échelle de l'Italie du Sud toute entière et au-delà à l'échelle de l'ensemble du monde grec. Enfin, un dernier chapitre tente de cerner le développement chronologique et la distribution géographique du culte en Italie du Sud ainsi que le visage et les domaines d'action de Déméter dans cette région de l'Occident grec (chap. III)
This thesis of History analyzes the worship of Demeter, goddess of agriculture and the fertility, within the precise framework of South Italy. This regional study of one of the Greek worships most widespread in the Greek world and showing facets quite different from one area to another, opened very interesting prospects. The fundamental question raised by this study is that of the place reserved for the worship of Demeter in Magna Graecia, area of the Greek Occident where Greek and indigenous mixed. A preliminary work was essential to define the identifying information of the worship on the basis of material of Greece, Asia Minor, Aegean Islands and Sicily (chap. I). Only these criteria could guide the historian in the composition of an inventory of the testimonia of the worship of Demeter in Magna Graecia. These testimonia are very different : old literary texts, epigraphic documents, ancient coins, iconography of italiote vases but also attic vases found in South Italy and of course archaeological testimonia, were joined together in a topographic catalogue (Catalogue). The typological stepping of these very heterogeneous sources (chap. II) then allowed to give them all their direction, on the scale of very whole South Italy and beyond on the scale of the whole of the Greek world. Lastly, a final chapter tries to determine the chronological development and the geographical distribution of the worship in South Italy as well as the face and the fields of action of Demeter in this area of the Greek Occident (chap. III)

Transplanté en Afrique, Asklepios-Aesculapius, le dieu gréco-romain de la médecine, a été assimilé au dieu punique Eshmun, et à une divinité guérisseuse libyque, tel Macurgum à Vaga. L'analyse de la répartition des documents du culte d'Esculape en Afrique, tant géographique que sociale, témoigne d'abord d'une vénération moindre au fur et à mesure que l'on s'éloigne de ses centres de rayonnement, à savoir la région de Carthage et celle de Lambèse. Elle en révèle, ensuite, plusieurs facettes. En proconsulaire, le dieu de la médecine est quelquefois celui d'Epidaure et de l'ile Tiberine, quelquefois le dieu importé mais "greffé" sur une divinité guérisseuse indigène, libyque ou punique, honoré seul ou en compagnie de Caelestis; dans les thermes et les stations thermales de la province, il a été honoré en compagnie d'Hygie. En Numidie, Esculape et Hygie ont connu une rare ferveur auprès des légionnaires de la IIIa Augusta; le culte a revêtu, aussi, un aspect civil en quelques rares endroits de la province. Brought to Africa, Asklepios-aesculapius, the Greek god of medicine has been assimilated to the Punic god Eshmun and to a Libyan healing deity like Macurgum at Vaga. Analysis of the geographical and social distribution of the testimonies of the cult, all over Africa, shows first a diminishing veneration away from its centers of influence, that is to say the region of Carthage and Lambaesis. It let appear, secondly, many aspects of Aesculapius. In proconsularis, the god is sometimes that of Epidaure and of the Tiberin Island, and sometimes the imported god who has been transplanted on a local healing deity, either Libyan or Punic, worshipped alone or with Caelestis; in baths and watering places of the same province, he's been worshipped with Hygieia. In Numidia, a great fervor has been expressed to Aaesculapius and his daughter by the legionaries of the IIIa Augusta; in some places, the cult took a civilian aspect as well. Evidence is poor in Mauretania : in Caesariensis, the cult is present principally in the capital, whereas it's nearly missing in Tingitania

La multiplication de figures de la conquete dans l'espace politique, social et mental francais symbolise un style d'existence et des normes de conduite en sciete construits a l'aune de la competition. Quelles sont les significations de ces images nouvelles de la societe et de l'individu? quelles sont les hypotheses susceptibles d'en rendre compte? telles sont les deux questions auxquelles cette these s'efforce de repondre a travers l'analyse du changement de statut de la competition sportive, de la consommation de masse et de la concurrence economique qui forment les trois parties de cette enquete. Deux hypothese interdependantes rendent compte de ces changements : une definition nouvelle de l'acteur de masse qui se concretise dans la contrainte pour l'individu d(occuper une place qui rend visible sa seule subjectivite ; une inflexion de la sensibilite egalitaire qui fait de la justice le produit de la concurrence. Elles correspondent au recul de la representation de la societe en termes de classes sociales, a la disqualification de la discipline comme methode dominante de l'exercice du pouvoir, a la crise de la culture politique republicaine et au passage d'une vision de l'avenir en termes de changements permanents
The increasing number of forms of conquest in the frech political, social and mental space symbolize a way of life and norms of comportment in regard to competition. What are the meanings of these news representations of society and individual? which of liable hypothsesis could render an account? those are the two questions this thesis try to answer, through the analysis of change of statut of the competitive sport, the mass consumption and of the economic competition, which form those three parts of this inquiry. Two interdependant hypothesis explain these changes : a new definition of action urging individual on being visible ; an inflexion in sensitiveness balance that make justice the result of competition. These changes are also related to the st-back of the representation of society in terms of social classes, to the disqualification of discipline as a prevailing method to exercice power, to the crisis of republican political culture, and to a vision of the future in terms of permanent changes

The visual and aural elements are representative of the psychological and emotional states of powerlessness, which are overcome by the act of making and exploring a medium over which I can have complete control.

Le recyclage ou la réutilisation des déchets de démolition de maisons individuelles, de petits collectifs et de sites industriels édifiés en terre cuite, est actuellement limité par la présence de déchets composites, formés par l’assemblage de terre cuite, de mortier et / ou de plâtre principalement. Dans l’optique de valoriser la terre cuite dans la même filière ou dans d’autres secteurs industriels, la présence de plâtre, pouvant générer des ions sulfates au contact de l’eau, est un obstacle. La principal option de fin de vie des déchets de terre cuite en mélange est ainsi l’enfouissement en installation de stockage de classe 3. Le but de cette thèse a été de développer une méthode de séparation des déchets de démolition de terre cuite, plus intéressante d’un point de vue environnemental que l’enfouissement, et permettant de récupérer des matières premières secondaires de terre cuite valorisables dans des filières pertinentes. Une étude du gisement a été réalisée afin d’établir la nature des assemblages en présence dans les déchets de déconstruction et de fournir des échantillons représentatifs. Ces échantillons ont permis la détermination des mécanismes d’adhésion des interfaces. Une méthode de séparation a ainsi été développée et la compatibilité des matières premières secondaires de terre cuite a été comparée vis-à-vis de trois filières de valorisation
Recycling or reuse of demolition waste from individual houses, small collectives and industrial sites built with fired clay bricks, is currently limited by the presence of mixed waste, which is mainly an assembly of fired clay bricks, mortar and gypsum. In the perspective to valorize fired clay waste from demolition, the presence of gypsum, which may contain sulfates, is a restriction. Currently, the main end-of-life option for non-dissociated fired clay waste is the landfilling in waste storage facilities of class 3. The aim of this PhD thesis is to develop a separation process of mixed fired clay waste, environmentally more friendly than landfilling, in order to recover and valorize secondary raw materials in relevant industrial sectors. A study of the deposit has been done to identify the nature of the mixed demolition waste and to supply representative waste samples. Those samples enable to define the adhesion mechanisms at the interfaces. Then, a separation method has been developed. Finally, three routes have been investigated in order to valorize the recovered clay bricks

La centralisation idéologique et organisationnelle, poussée à son extrême par le stalinisme, va avoir pour effet la constitution d'un esprit de caste chez les communisme qui vont œuvrer à l'exaltation de leur mission collective. Rapidement après la prise du pouvoir, l'organisation transposé à l'échelle du pays tout entier les rapports de fascination soumission à l'égard du leader qui ne concernaient jusque-là que les seuls militants. Le parti communiste, détenteur de la seule pensée supposée vraie, exerce son pouvoir monopolistique sur la société qu'il cherche à unifier autour de ses valeurs et de son projet historique. Dans ce but, le leader doit faciliter par sa parole et son omniprésence symbolique l'unification du corps social. Le culte de Lénine, indissociable de la quête de la légitimité par le nouveau pouvoir, et premier grand rite soviétique, est envisagé comme la rencontre d'une volonté politique de mieux asseoir un régime encore fragile avec une partie de la culture pré-révolutionnaire. Le culte de Staline, type idéal du culte communiste, se constitue à partir de la fabrication d'une image charismatique. Les individus, atomises par le totalitarisme stalinien, vont avoir pour seul repère le leader infaillible. À partir du conflit Tito-Staline, le culte de certains leaders s'enrichit d'un nouvel élément constitutif : la défense de l'identité nationale
The ideological and organised centralisation, carried to its extreme by Stalinism, gave way to a group conciousness among communists who were about to develope exaltation in their collective mission. Rapidly after the taking of power, the organisation transposed the feelings of fascination submission towards the leader into a national scale; until then these feelings had concerned with the militants only. The communist party, the possessor of the supposed true and only thought, exerted its monopolistic power on the society which it was looking to unify around all its values and its historical project. In this goal, the leader should facilitate by his words and his symbolical omnipresence the unification of the social body. The worship of Lenin, inseparable from the search for legitimacy by the new power, and the first greatest soviet ritual, was envisioned as the encounter of the political ambition to strengthen the still fragile regime with some part of the culture before the revolution. The worship of Stalin, ideal pattern of the cult in the communist party, began to take shape from a charismatic image. The individuals, isolated by stalin's totalitarism, were bound to have a single point of reference : an infaillible leader

L'ouvrage traite des origines chretiennes de narbonne, par la connaissance des edifices du culte qui ont laisse des traces materielles sur le sol, ou a travers les monuments graves conserves dans les musees de la ville. Il etudie d'abord le martyrium du premier eveque qui evangelisa la cite dans le cours du iiie siecle, paul, et il montre le developpement du culte qui s'instaura autour de son tombeau des la fin du ive siecle. La question delicate de l'implantation de la cathedrale du ive siecle est ouverte par l'examen d'une basilique a chevet quadrangulaire et de son baptistere en crypte. Les caracteristiques architecturales du monument revelent des influences syriennes. La relecture de l'inscription dedicatoire de l'eveque rusticus, l'etude des documents ecrits relatifs a l'ancienne cathedrale et l' examen des vestiges archeologiques encore en place, permettent de mieux connaitre la cathedrale edifiee a l'interieur des murs, au ve siecle. Grace aux sources litteraires et aux monuments epigraphiques, on situe les eglises du suburbium. La basilique des saints marcel et saturnin revele l'antiquite du culte des martyrs africains. La basilique saint-felix fut erigee pour honorer les reliques du martyr de gerone. Au temps des wisigoths, elle devint la cathedrale des ariens. L'autel de minerve qui en provient sans doute donne l'occasion de definir l'une des plus anciennes typologies de mensae dans la region septimano-catalane. Un dernier monument est analyse, il s'agit d'un edicule qui reproduit fidelement le tombeau de jesus apres les amenagements qu'il recut au temps de constantin. Ainsi, a travers les edifices du culte qu'elle a dresses, durant les premiers siecles, on percoit les diverses influences qui se sont exercees sur la communaute chretienne de narbonne
The book deals with the christian origins of narbonne, through the knowledge of the cult monuments that have left material marks on the ground, or trough the engraved monuments kept in the museums of the town. It first studies the martyrium of the first bishop, paul, who evangelized the city in the course of the third century, and its shows the development of the cult that was organized around his tomb, as soon as the end of the fourth century. The difficult question of the situation of the fourth century cathedral is opened by the exam of a basilica with quadrangular chevet and of its baptistry in crypt. The architectural features of the monument particularly revealed syrian influences. A new reading of the dedicarory inscription of bishop rusticus, the study of the written documents about the ancient cathedral and the exam of architectural traces still existing, allow to know the ecclesia built inside the wall, in the fifth century. Thanks to the litterary sources and to the epigraphic monuments, the churches of suburbium can be situated. Saint marcel and saturnin basilica witnesses, with its reliquary, the ancientness of the worship for african martyrs. Saint felix basilica was stood up to honor the relics of the martyr of gerone. At the time of wisigoths it be came the cathedral for arians. The altar of minerve which comes from it, probably gives the opportunity to define one of the most ancient typologies of mensae in the septimano-catalan country. A last monument is analysed. It is a little monument which faithfully reproduces jesus'tomb after the improvements done at the time of constantin. So, through the monuments of cult it built during the first centuries, we can see the various impacts on the christian community of narbonne

Immer dort zugegen, wo es im Digitalen sinnliche Leerstellen oder Entfremdungssituationen zugunsten einer affektiven Annäherung zu kompensieren gilt, spielen beide im Umgang mit den Herausforderungen und Zumutungen einer zunehmend digital durchwirkten, krisengeplagten Gegenwart eine entscheidende Rolle. Zunächst maximal gefällig anmutend, bergen sie ein ausgemachtes Potential für Ambivalenzen und sind dazu prädestiniert, einen Verstörungscharakter anzunehmen. In der dialektischen Qualität jener Gemengelage liegt denn auch das kritische Potential jenes Bündnisses, dessen produktive Irritationsmomente anhand der künstlerischen Position von Lorna Mills veranschaulicht werden.
