Two types of cyanobacterial phycobilisomes (PBS) are present: the hemidiscoidal PBS (CpcG-PBS) and the membrane-bound PBS (CpcL-PBS). Both types of PBS have ferredoxin:NADP+ oxidoreductase (FNR) attached to the termini of their rods through a CpcD domain. To date, the physiological significance of the attachment remains unknown. We constructed a mutant (dF338) which contains an FNR lacking the N-terminal CpcD domain in Synechococcus sp. PCC 7002. Isolated CpcG-PBS from dF338 did not contain FNR and the cell extracts of the mutant had a 35 kDa protein cross-reacting to anti-FNR antibodies. dF338 grows normally under photoautotrophic conditions, but little growth was observed under photoheterotrophic conditions. A cpcL (cpcG2) mutant grows extremely slowly under photoheterotrophic conditions while a cpcG (cpcG1) mutant, in which PBS rods could not attach to the cores of the CpcG-PBS, can grow photoheterotrophically, strongly suggesting that the attachment of FNR to CpcL-PBS is critical to photoheterotrophic growth. We show that electron transfer to the plastoquinone pool in dF338 and the cpcL mutant was impaired. We also provide evidence that trimeric photosystem I (PSI) and intact CpcL-PBS with a full-length FNR is critical to plastoquinone reduction. The presence of a NADPH-dehydrogenase (NDH)-CpcL-PBS-PSI trimer supercomplex and its roles are discussed.

CPCI, the principal regulatory protein required for cross-pathway control of amino acid biosynthetic genes in Neurospora crassa, contains a domain similar to the DNA-binding domain of GCN4, the corresponding general regulator in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We examined binding by CPC1 synthesized in vitro and by CPC1 present in N. crassa whole-cell extracts. CPCI from both sources was shown to bind to the DNA sequence 5'-ATGACTCAT-3', which is also the preferred recognition sequence of GCN4, CPC1 was confirmed as the source of DNA-binding activity in extracts by immunoblotting. Slightly mobility differences between DNA complexes containing CPCI synthesized in vitro and CPC1 in mycelial extracts were observed. Analyses of N. crassa extracts from different stages of asexual development revealed that CPC1 was abundant immediately following spore germination and through early mycelial growth but was scarce subsequently. CPC1 levels could be increased at any time by imposing amino acid starvation. Copies of the CPC1 response element are located upstream of several genes regulated by cross-pathway control, including cpc-1 itself.

Estimation of dental age in forensic odontology is crucial in biological dentistry Coronal Pulp Cavity Index (CPCI) as one method to check the correlation between the reduction of the coronal pulp cavity and chronological age. The present study aims to find out whether CPCI method can be used to estimate the dental age on lower second premolar and first molar with periapical radiographic analysis. The cross sectional study was conducted on 60 patients (30 males and 30 females) in the age range of 21 and 30 years. They were subjected to periapical radiographs on lower second premolar and first molar. The Coronal Pulp Cavity Height (CPCH) and Coronal Length (CL) was measured using vision measuring scope DC 3000 and electronic digital caliper. The values obtained were subjected into the formula of TCI = [CPCL × 100]/CL. The mean of TCI score and average chronological age were analyzed using paired T test to find out the correlation between the chronological age and the estimated dental age, P > 0.05 is considered as significant. There was no significant difference between the estimated dental age and chronological age in both lower second premolars (p=0.119) and first molars (p=0.224). CPCI method can be used to estimate the dental age on healthy lower second premolar and first molar.

1. The pteropod mollusk Clione limacina swims by rhythmical oscillations of two wings, and its spatial orientation during locomotion is determined by tail movements. The majority of neurons responsible for generation of the wing and tail movements are located in the pedal ganglia. On the other hand, the majority of sensory inputs that affect wing and tail movements project to the cerebral ganglia. The goal of the present study was to identify and characterize cerebropedal neurons involved in the control of the swimming central generator or motor neurons of wing and tail muscles. Cerebropedal neurons affecting locomotion-controlling mechanisms are located in the rostromedial (CPA neurons), caudomedial (CPB neurons), and central (CPC neurons) zones of the cerebral ganglia. According to their morphology and effects on pedal mechanisms, 10 groups of the cerebropedal neurons can be distinguished. 2. CPA1 neurons project through the ipsilateral cerebropedal connective to both pedal ganglia. Activation of a CPA1 by current injection resulted in speeding up of the locomotor rhythm and intensification of the firing of the locomotor motor neurons. 3. CPA2 neurons send numerous thin fibers into the ipsi- and contralateral pedal and pleural ganglia through the cerebropedal and cerebropleural connectives. They strongly inhibit the wing muscle motor neurons and, to a lesser extent, slow down the locomotor rhythm. 4. CPB1 neurons project through the contralateral cerebropedal connective to both pedal ganglia. They activate the locomotor generator. 5. CPB2 neurons also project, through the contralateral cerebropedal connective, to both pedal ganglia. They affect wing muscle motor neurons. 6. CPB3 neurons have diverse morphology: they project to the pedal ganglia either through the ipsilateral cerebropedal connective, or through the contralateral one, or through both of them. They affect putative motor neurons of the tail muscles. 7. CPC1, CPC2, and CPC3 neurons project through the ipsilateral cerebropedal connective to both pedal ganglia. They activate the locomotor generator. 8. CPC4 and CPC5 neurons project through the contralateral cerebropedal connective to the contralateral pedal ganglia. They activate the locomotor generator. 9. Serotonergic neurons were mapped in the CNS of Clione by immunohistochemical methods. Location and size of cells in two groups of serotonin-immunoreactive neurons in the cerebral ganglia appeared to be similar to those of CPA1 and CPB1 neurons. This finding suggests a possible mechanism for serotonin's ability to exert a strong excitatory action on the locomotor generator of Clione. 10. The role of different groups of cerebropedal neurons is discussed in relation to different forms of Clione's behavior in which locomotor activity is involved.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the nutritional value of cottonseed protein concentrate (CPC) as a single dietary protein source and the optimal protein level for grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus). An 8-week feeding trial was conducted by feeding juvenile grass carp (initial body weight: 4.68 ± 0.01 g) with six experimental diets containing graded levels of protein provided by CPC. The results showed that the optimal CPC level (CPC4) improved the growth performance and health status of grass carp. The optimal dietary protein level was estimated to be 38.61 and 38.66% based on specific growth rate (SGR) and feed efficiency (FE), respectively. The CPC4 group significantly increased the total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) content and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity in the hepatopancreas (p < 0.05). In addition, the CPC4 group increased the muscle T-AOC and glutathione (GSH) content and improved muscle hardness, and the gene expression of MRFs, fgf6a, myhc-7, myhc-1, myhc-4, igf-II, and tor was upregulated while mstn gene expression was downregulated (p < 0.05). Correlation analysis revealed that the optimal dietary CPC level promoted grass carp growth, health, and flesh quality by regulating the relative abundance of intestinal microbes. Furthermore, CPC6 upregulated the ko00480 (Glutathione metabolism) and ko00620 (Pyruvate metabolism) pathways compared to CPC1 (p < 0.05), possibly indicating that low dietary CPC levels adversely affected amino acid metabolism in the intestinal microbiota of grass carp, while a high level of CPC will meet the metabolic needs of the body by increasing the utilization of energy.

The light-harvesting phycobilisome in cyanobacteria and red algae requires the lyase-catalyzed chromophorylation of phycobiliproteins. There are three functionally distinct lyase families known. The heterodimeric E/F type is specific for attaching bilins covalently to α-subunits of phycocyanins and phycoerythrins. Unlike other lyases, the lyase also has chromophore-detaching activity. A subclass of the E/F-type lyases is, furthermore, capable of chemically modifying the chromophore. Although these enzymes were characterized >25 y ago, their structures remained unknown. We determined the crystal structure of the heterodimer of CpcE/F fromNostocsp. PCC7120 at 1.89-Å resolution. Both subunits are twisted, crescent-shaped α-solenoid structures. CpcE has 15 and CpcF 10 helices. The inner (concave) layer of CpcE (helices h2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14) and the outer (convex) layer of CpcF (h16, 18, 20, 22, and 24) form a cavity into which the phycocyanobilin chromophore can be modeled. This location of the chromophore is supported by mutations at the interface between the subunits and within the cavity. The structure of a structurally related, isomerizing lyase, PecE/F, that converts phycocyanobilin into phycoviolobilin, was modeled using the CpcE/F structure as template. A H87C88motif critical for the isomerase activity of PecE/F is located at the loop between h20 and h21, supporting the proposal that the nucleophilic addition of Cys-88 to C10 of phycocyanobilin induces the isomerization of phycocyanobilin into phycoviolobilin. Also, the structure of NblB, involved in phycobilisome degradation could be modeled using CpcE as template. Combined with CpcF, NblB shows a low chromophore-detaching activity.

Nuevas técnicas nos están permitiendo migrar de la técnica de cera perdida colado por centrifugado convencio- nal (CPCC) a técnicas como la cera perdida colado por inducción (CPCI). Objetivos: Comparar la discrepancia marginal e interna de cofias unitarias de aleación Cobalto-Cromo (Co-Cr) sobre una línea de terminación cham- fer, confeccionadas con dos técnicas: CPCC y CPCI, determinando cual técnica tuvo mejor adaptación marginal e interna. Material y Métodos: Se fabricaron13 cofias metálicas unitarias de aleación Co-Cr para cada técnica a evaluar. Se utilizó la réplica de silicona para evaluar las discrepancias marginales e internas, cada muestra fue seccionada en cruz en sentido vestíbulo-palatino y en sentido mesio-distal, luego con un estéreomicroscopio se evaluó la zona cervical, axial y oclusal. Resultados: Se evaluó los supuestos de normalidad con la prueba de Shapiro-Wilk. Los análisis estadísticos fueron la prueba t de Student y U Mann-Whitney. La CPCI obtuvo una menor discrepancia marginal e interna en comparación con la CPC pero no se encontró diferencias estadísti- camente significativas (p>0,05) entre ambas técnicas. Conclusiones: Aunque en la mayoría de los puntos de evaluación las cofias realizadas mediante la CPCI presento mejores valores de adaptación marginal e interna en comparación con la CPCC estos resultados sólo son valores descriptivos que no fueron concluyentes, ya que en la mayoría de los puntos evaluados no existió diferencia estadísticamente significativa (p>0,05). Observamos que la mayoría de los valores de ambas técnicas se encuentran dentro del rango clínicamente aceptable.

Allophycocyanin and c-phycocyanin have been reported to be potent antioxidants. In this work, the genes encoding the apo-proteins of allophycocyanin α (ApcA), allophycocyanin β (ApcB), c-phycocyanin α (CpcA), and c-phycocyanin β (CpcB) from Spirulina platensis were cloned, and the recombinant proteins were produced in Escherichia coli to study their antioxidant effects. All four recombinant phycocyanins could be produced in the soluble form and purified to more than 97% purity. The results of radical scavenging assays showed that the Trolox equivalent values for peroxyl radical scavenging by the ApcA, ApcB, CpcA, and CpcB proteins were 1.81 ± 0.2 µM, 1.98 ± 0.22 µM, 0.95 ± 0.15 µM, and 1.49 ± 0.15 µM, respectively. The IC50 values for hydroxyl radical scavenging of ApcA, ApcB, CpcA, CpcB, and Trolox were 269 ± 9 µg/mL, 190 ± 5 µg/mL, 129 ± 8 µg/mL, 108 ± 4 µg/mL, and 195 ± 12 µg/mL, respectively. These results indicated that allophycocyanin exhibited higher activity than c-phycocyanin in scavenging peroxyl radicals, whereas c-phycocyanin exhibited higher activity than allophycocyanin in scavenging hydroxyl radicals. All of the apo-phycocyanin subunits possessed strong antioxidant activities and can be further developed and applied to the food and drug industries. However, the selection of the most useful antioxidant should depend on the type of targeted free radical to obtain the highest efficiency.

El Consejo Profesional de Ciencias Económicas de Mendoza fue fundado en 1947, desde entonces brinda servicios a sus matriculados y a la sociedad. Durante estos 68 años, el número de profesionales afectados a esta organización ha crecido vertiginosamente y la organización con ellos. Sin embargo se ha llegado a un punto de inflexión en el que resulta necesaria una estructura más dinámica. Un sistema que colabore con la velocidad y calidad en la prestación de sus servicios, sin dejar de lado la eficiencia. En este trabajo se propone el diseño e implementación de un Sistema de Gestión de Calidad según la norma ISO 9001:2008 que propone que “la existencia, aplicación y revisión sistemática de los procedimientos del Sistema de Gestión de Calidad provoca la Mejora Continua" lo que facilita la prestación de servicios bajo las condiciones mencionadas anteriormente. El objetivo es redactar los procedimientos del Sistema de Gestión de Calidad, necesarios para su implementación en el CPCE de Mendoza.

O presente trabalho centra-se na problemática dos comportamentos anti-sociais apresentados pelos jovens e visa desenvolver um projecto de intervenção junto de uma amostra escolar de adolescentes, residentes em Vila Nova de Gaia, com idades compreendidas entre os 11 e os 15 anos. Utiliza-se um método de investigação qualitativo, com recurso à técnica investigação-acção. O objectivo da intervenção consiste em reduzir o número de casos de comportamentos anti-sociais nos jovens, através da minimização dos factores de risco individuais associados a esse tipo de comportamento, bem como a fomentação dos factores de protecção individuais. A um nível mais específico, pretende-se fomentar nos jovens uma atitude pró-social, com recurso a estratégias de promoção da assertividade, das competências de comunicação e de relacionamento interpessoal, de estratégias de resolução de conflitos e de auto-controlo. Os resultados esperados vão de encontro aos objectivos da intervenção traçados. This work focuses on the problem of antisocial behavior of adolescents and aims at developing an intervention program with a scholar sample of adolescents resident in Vila Nova de Gaia, aged between 11 and 15 years. It used a qualitative research method, using the technical action research. The aim of the intervention is to reduce the number of cases of antisocial behavior in youth, by minimizing the individual risk factor associated with this type of behavior, as well as promoting the individual protection factors. In a more specific level, this project intend to promote in youth a pro-social attitude, using strategies to promote assertiveness, communication skills and interpersonal relations, strategies of conflict resolution and self-control.

A problemática da violência interparental é, ainda hoje, um fenómeno social pouco estudado. Nos últimos anos, fruto de uma maior visibilidade do fenómeno associado às recentes alterações legislativas, permitiram a denúncia de novas situações de violência. O presente estudo analisa em profundidade a experiência de vida de duas crianças/jovens, expostas durante anos e de forma sistemática à violência entre os pais, com o objectivo de perceber por um lado as suas percepções e representações sobre esta forma de violência, e por outro qual o impacto da mesma nas suas vidas. Da mesma forma, e revestindo o estudo um carácter muito interventivo, procurámos: identificar quais as necessidades de ajuda durante e após o conflito; identificar as razões para a não denúncia da situação de vitimação; identificar as razões para o não abandono do lar e manutenção da relação; e perceber qual o papel da CPCJ com a sua intervenção. Para recolha dos dados foi utilizado um guião de entrevista semi-estruturado, adaptado a partir do proposto por Sani (2003) Os resultados indicam que a exposição à violência interparental tem efeitos muito negativos a vários níveis da vida destas crianças, sendo que os efeitos mais nefastos verificaram-se ao nível psicológico. Concluímos também que um dos factores decisivos na denúncia da situação de vitimação prende-se com a percepção da progenitora do estender da violência aos filhos. Por outro lado, foram identificadas algumas razões para a não denúncia da situação, como sendo o medo pela censura social, medo de perder os filhos e de não conseguir uma autonomia financeira. No que respeita à intervenção da CPCJ, os resultados vão no sentido desta ter um impacto muito positivo na alteração da vida dos envolvidos.

A sociedade evolui e com ela os instrumentos normativos seguem a mesma toada. Se, anteriormente, o Código de Processo Civil em vigor se adequava à realidade histórica de 1973, hoje vários de seus dispositivos já não possuem condições de solucionar as controvérsias com maestria. Então, o Novo Código de Processo Civil surge com a pretensão de superar importantes problemas surgidos, aparar arestas e clarear possíveis dúvidas. Com uma lógica voltada para a cooperação entre as partes e uma maior efetividade processual, o novo diploma é promulgado com a necessidade de adequar as questões relacionadas ao processo, à nova realidade que nos circunda. É a primeira vez que um instrumento normativo nacional passa a tratar do auxílio direito como instrumento de cooperação jurídica internacional. Aquele procedimento que estava previsto apenas em tratados internacionais, assim como regulamentado através de Resolução do Superior Tribunal de Justiça, pela Resolução n.º 09/2005, hoje passa a ter seu espaço no novo diploma. Assim sendo, o presente trabalho analisa as pretensões do legislador ao disciplinar o auxílio direto, bem como se esse ato traz algum benefício à concepção de cooperação jurídica internacional. Faz-se uma análise à luz do direito processual, internacional e constitucional, trabalhando com o método hipotético-dedutivo. Não se deve deixar de olvidar que com a promulgação do Novo CPC, Lei 13.105, de 16 de março de 2015, é necessário que os operadores do direito e, em especial, aos processualistas, que se debrucem sobre o novo diploma, com o intuito de entender todos os seus pontos, suas mudanças de paradigmas e o novo formato de tramitação do processo, com o intuito de conseguir atuar de maneira efetiva, diante daqueles que necessitam do Estado para solucionar suas controvérsias. Mais que isso. Considerando que o auxílio direto pode se desenvolver pela via administrativa ou judicial, o pesquisador necessita compreender como é o funcionamento, a quem recorrer, como fazer um pedido de cooperação, assim como os requisitos para sua utilização. The ultimate goal of mitosis is the equal distribution of chromosomes between the two daughter cells. One of the key players that ensures faithful chromosome segregation is the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC). CPC localisation to mitotic centromeres is complex, involving interactions with Shugoshin and binding to phosphorylated histone H3T3. It was recently reported that Heterochromatin Protein 1 (HP1) has a positive impact on CPC function during mitosis. The interaction between HP1 and the CPC appears to be perturbed in cancer-­‐derived cell lines, resulting in decreased HP1 levels at mitotic centromeres and may be a potential cause for increased chromosome mis-­‐segregation rates. In this study, I tethered HP1α to centromeres via the DNA-­‐binding domain CENP-­‐B. However, instead of improving the rate of chromosome mis-­‐segregation, HP1α tethering resulted in activity of the spindle assembly checkpoint and destabilisation of kinetochore-­‐microtubule attachments, most likely caused by the robust recruitment of the CPC. Tethered HP1α even traps the CPC at centromeres during mitotic exit, resulting in a catalytically active CPC throughout interphase. However, it was not clear whether endogenous HP1 contributes to CPC localisation and function prior to mitosis. Here I also describe a substantial interaction between endogenous HP1 and the CPC during the G2 stage of the cell cycle. The two isoforms HP1α and HP1γ contribute to the clustering of the CPC into active foci in G2 cells, a process that is independent of CDK1 kinase activity. Furthermore, the H3S10ph focus formation in the G2 phase appears to be independent of H3T3ph and H2AT120ph, the two histone marks that determine the CPC localisation in early mitosis. Together, my results indicate that HP1 contributes to CPC concentration and activation at pericentromeric heterochromatin in G2. This novel mode of CPC localisation occurs before the Aurora B-­‐driven methyl/phos switch releases HP1 from chromatin, which possibly enables the H3T3ph and H2AT120ph driven localisation of the CPC during mitosis.

Nos dias que correm, é notória uma crescente preocupação e consciencialização sobre a temática dos problemas sociais. As crianças e jovens em risco fazem, naturalmente, parte desta temática. Como tal, é reconhecida a necessidade de estimular intervenções concretas que requerem, obrigatoriamente, articulação entre o Estado e a própria Sociedade. As crianças e os jovens precisam de uma situação de bem-estar para garantir o seu pleno desenvolvimento. A promoção da proteção destes intervenientes da Sociedade levou o Estado, enquanto entidade legislativa e reguladora, a criar estruturas e políticas de protecção às crianças e jovens. No contexto português foi analisada a criação, ação e evolução das Comissões de Proteção de Crianças e Jovens em Risco (CPCJ), que surgiram como intermediários entre o Estado e a Sociedade, obedecendo a directivas nacionais, mas orientados para uma intervenção focalizada na comunidade em que se inserem. Assim sendo, importa perceber de que forma as CPCJ, tendo em conta o quadro teórico de referência, orientam este seu papel de intermediários entre o Estado e a Sociedade. Foram assim discutidas as convergências e divergências entre os quadros teóricos e os resultados práticos. Tendo sido analisados os relatórios nacionais da ação das CPCJ em 2001, 2005 e 2012, foi possível verificar que o número de casos aumentou de ano para ano. Este incremento no número de casos não significa que os casos tenham efectivamente aumentado. Ficou provado que o Estado e a Sociedade dificilmente articulam uma resposta sem o intermediário que é a CPCJ, ou se a ação desta comissão não for devidamente adaptada. Ou seja, foi também possível concluir que a questão da proximidade em relação à comunidade aumenta a probabilidade de sucesso das intervenções. Por outro lado, pela análise efetuada, foi possível aferir que a tentativa de adaptar a ação da comissão a cada caso concreto pode ser dificultada pelo quadro teórico de referência, isto é, os relatórios continuam a apresentar alguma ambiguidade entre aquilo que realmente se passa e aquilo que é descrito. Ainda assim, ficou provado que as CPCJ se assumem como organismos interactivos, que promovem a pro-atividade das comunidades em que se encontram inseridas, chamando todos os que possam dar o seu contributo para promover a protecção tão necessária às crianças e jovens que se encontrem em risco.
Nowadays, growing concern and awareness on the social problems’ thematic is noticed. The children and youth in risk are part of this thematic. Therefore, the need for effective interventions is recognized, and such interventions are only possible if the State and the Society are well articulated with each other. The ideal development of children and youth require a welfare situation. The promotion of the protection of these Society members lead to the creation of the necessary structures and protection policies for the children and youth by the State, as it is the regulatory and legislative entity, c The creation, action and evolution of the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Youth in Risk (CPCJ) in Portugal are exhaustively analyzed. These commissions rise up as the intermediates between the State and the Society, which follow national directives, but adapt their intervention to the community were they are installed. Thus, the goal was to understand how the CPCJ play their role of intermediate between the State and the Society, accordingly to the theoretical guidelines. The convergence and divergence points between the theoretical guidelines and the effective results were analyzed based on the careful examination of the national reports of the action of the CPCJ in 2001, 2005 and 2012. First, it was verified that the number of cases increased along the years. However, this fact has to be properly analyzed. Therefore, it was proved that the State and the Society hardly articulate a proper response to this problem without the CPCJ, and also that the adaptation to the local scenario is essential. In fact, the closer the CPCJ is to the community, the most successful will their interventions be. Finally, the present analysis allowed concluding that this adaptation process can be misled by the theoretical guidelines, i.e., the reports are still presenting some ambiguity between what effectively happens and what is described in those reports. Nevertheless, it was proved that the CPCJ are interactive organisms which promote the pro-activity of the community. The mission of ensuring the welfare of children and youth and protecting those who are in risk shall not be pursuit only on the scholar environment, but by every potential intervenient.

O projeto desenvolvido no âmbito da CPCJ procurou, para além de reunir informação, encontrar formas de a sistematizar, ou seja, pretendeu encontrar uma ferramenta que pudesse ser útil contextualizar e enquadrar as problemáticas que envolvem as crianças e jovens em risco. Para isso, este projeto é composto por três fases. A primeira fase, porque é necessário perceber que políticas públicas foram criadas, é feita uma análise histórica que nos remete a 1911, ano em que surge a primeira política pública com vista à proteção da infância, analisando as sucessivas alterações provocadas pelas políticas até 2010, quer na proteção das crianças e jovens, quer na constituição das CPCJ. Para enquadrar Portugal com outros países, estabelecesse uma comparação internacional em que são analisados os sistemas de proteção da Alemanha, Bélgica (Comunidade Francesa e Comunidade Flamenga), França e Inglaterra, para perceber as semelhanças e diferenças entre eles, fazendo no final do capítulo uma síntese comparativa entre os vários países analisados a nível internacional e Portugal, passando depois para a análise da realidade portuguesa. Posteriormente, na análise de Portugal, é efetuada uma comparação entre o nível Nacional e o nível Local, usando o exemplo da CPCJ Ovar, para percebermos que tipo de crianças são sinalizadas e de que famílias são provenientes, tendo sempre em conta a atuação da CPCJ de forma a perceber se a legislação é tida em conta durante a sua intervenção, ao mesmo tempo que verificamos as tendências existentes ao longo dos anos, tendo em conta as sinalizações efetuadas.
The project developed by CPCJ, tried not only to gather information but also find new ways to summarize it. They tried to developed a tool that could be useful to contextualize and frame all the problems among children and young people at risk. Therefore, this project is divided in three stages. The first part, aims to realize the need of creation of public policies were, there is also made a historical analysis that takes us back to 1911. The year where the first public policy for protection of children was made, analyzing also the successive changes caused by the policies by 2010 either in protection children and young people, whether in the constitution of CPCJ. In order to compare Portugal with other countries, we established na international comparison that aims to analyzes the protection systems of Germany, Belgium (French Community and Flemish Community), France and England, to realize what similarities and differences exist among, we also make in the end of the chapter one comparative synthesis between the various countries studied internationally and Portugal, and in the end we intend to Portuguese reality. Subsequently the analysis of Portugal, is made with comparison between the National level and Local level, using the example of CPCJ Ovar, to understand what kind of children are flagged and what families are they coming from, always taking account the performance of the CPCJ in order to discover whether legislations is taken into action during is intervention and also to see the trends over the years, taking into account the measures applied.

Making a decision today is quite important, especially in companies, where the consequences can bring benefits or costs. Sometimes the decisions to be made are complex and we need to evaluate many criterions that can involve several factors. In those cases, it is not easy to have a good overview of all choices and for this reason it is important to have a system that helps us in making complex decisions, when it is not possible to evaluate all the alternatives manually. This thesis describes different algorithms and tools that can aid in the process of making decisions. Based on the review of existing tools a new web based application is proposed. The new tool, Decision Maker, uses both the full Analytical Hierarchical Process approach and Chainwise Paired Comparisons method to evaluate different alternatives.

The growing popularity of Poly lactic acid (PLA) is related to its biocompatibility, good mechanical properties, and its synthesis from renewable resources. PLA can be compounded with electrically conductive fillers (e.g., carbon nanotubes (CNTs)) to form carbon polymer composites (CPC). These fillers provide the conductive functionality by forming percolative paths. Featuring very low weight densities, CPCs have the potential to replace metals in the electronic industry if they exhibit similar electrical conductivities. The current challenges being faced during the mixing of CNTs in a polymer matrix are the formation of aggregates due to the strong van der Waals forces and the breakage of the CNTs during dispersion. In this study, we compare: (1) two fabrication methods to create CPCs (i.e., solution mixing by sonication and extrusion) and (2) effects of various CNT functionalization techniques (i.e., acid and plasma treatments) on the conductivity of the CPCs. First, the composites comprising of 30% PLA by weight in Dichloromethane (DCM) and CNTs in different concentrations (up to 5wt.%) are fabricated by two step sonication method (i.e., dissolving PLA in DCM and then dispersing the CNTs in the polymer solution). Second, CPCs are fabricated using a micro twin screw extruder operating at 180°C. To verify the effects of functionalization of the CNTs on the conductivity of composites, the CNTs are functionalized via three methods: - HNO3 acid functionalization, 3:1 ratio HNO3 + H2SO4 acid (stronger) functionalization and N2 plasma functionalization. CPC fibers are drawn using the solvent-cast printing method. These fibers are then tested for their electrical conductivity using the two probe method. The maximum electrical conductivity is showed by the 5% CNT concentration samples at 3.97 S/m and 25.16 S/m for the CPC fibers obtained via the solution blend and the extrusion methods, respectively. Regarding the functionalized CNTs, conductivity measurements show a negative effect of the CNTs functionalization on the electrical properties of the CPC.

Concentrating solar systems use reflective surfaces to concentrate sunlight onto a small area, where it is absorbed and converted to heat. Many classes of concentrating collectors such as Compound Parabolic Concentrators (CPCs), parabolic dish and parabolic trough are available, each with different concentrating ratio and maximum absorber temperature, depending on the type of applications. A simplified 3D Compound Parabolic Concentrator (CPC) with 2 rings and 4 sectors has been designed. The designed CPC is cost effective as it requires only 8 mirrors to cover the reflector surface. It does not require sun tracking, but have capability to accept incoming solar radiation over a relatively wide range of angles. For further capturing of the solar radiations, tilting of the CPC during a day can be made a few times. This study aims to model the discretized 3D CPC using the ray tracing, to optimize the CPC for achieving optimal interceptions on a 0.2 m diameter cylindrical absorber, placed inside the CPC. The ray tracing methodology is presented together with the results of the interceptions on the cylindrical absorber using the discretized CPC. Results show the effect of tilting the discretized CPC is not very strong as the interception values are slightly reduced and the curves a little bit not symmetric around the normal sun angles.

Among all types of concentrators, compound parabolic concentrators (CPCs) have been designed as stationary solar collectors for relative high temperature operations with high cost effectiveness. The CPCs are potentially the favorable option for solar power systems and high temperature solar thermal system. This paper provided a review on studies of CPCs in solar thermal applications. It covered basic concepts, principles, and design of CPCs. It also reviewed optical models and thermal models of CPCs, as well as the thermal applications of CPCs. The challenges were also summarized.

Анотація:
The Core Protection Calculator System (CPCS) was the first implementation of digital computers in a nuclear power plant safety protection system. The system was based on first principles to calculate the specified acceptable fuel design limit (SAFDL) online. This approach provides the theoretical optimum safety margin. The first-of-its-kind system was installed in the United States at Arkansas Nuclear One Unit 2 (ANO-2) in 1980. Extensive efforts were made by Combustion Engineering and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to gain licensing approval of the CPCS. Based on accumulated operating experience, numerous improvements were made to enhance the performance of the CPCS. The CPCS software provided the flexibility to readily accommodate these design changes. Currently, CPCS is implemented in 21 nuclear power plants in operation or under construction in the U.S.A. and Asia. The next generation CPCS will focus on optimizing the plant protection by improving the SAFDL calculation. By taking advantage of the advances in digital computer technology, the comprehensive safety analysis code will be used online. A more detailed core power map using the incore detector signals will be used as the basis of the departure from nucleate boiling ratio (DNBR) and local power density (LPD) calculation. A quick power reduction will provide adequate margin for most of the design basis events. For these events, CPCS will initiate a reactor power cutback as opposed to a reactor trip, which will maintain the plant at a safe condition with a reduced power level.

Authors are analysing the extent of acceptance of rule on mandatory presence of two witnesses during a home search in national criminal proceedings in EU Member States. While some police powers in Croatia are regulated using modern forms of protection of suspects’ rights, some other investigative actions are regulated using rules that are uncommon in EU. Home search has a historic model of obligatory presence of two witnesses. These witnesses are often randomly selected among citizens, they are not legal professionals. A suspect has no right to reject witnesses if he considers that they could violate his privacy or health rights. Besides that, the Two-witness Rule has a peculiar impact on the evidence law. Items found during home search cannot be legally used if only one witness was present. According to such consequence, this rule actually requires a certain number of witnesses to prove a fact. Such requirements on number of witnesses have been abandoned in modern evidence law. The results of the analysis of the EU Member States show that the rule on the mandatory presence of two witnesses is widespread only in some post-communist systems. When it comes to EU criminal procedure codes (CPCs), the mandatory presence of witnesses exists in Croatian, Slovenian and Bulgarian CPC. The study is showing influence of former Russian CPC in post-Soviet era as well as the influence of former Yugoslav CPC. Regarded as the relic of the past, these procedural guarantees of home inviolability in the cases of home search should be reassessed and improved. In the context of COVID crisis, mandatory presence of witnesses presents challenge for the protection of suspect’s and witnesses’ health. Observed from the suspect’s right to protect his health or the witnesses’ right not to expose themselves to potentially health endangered situations, finding witnesses presents even more complexed mission. If the suspect is in COVID quarantine and the search must be conducted, can witnesses be forced to enter such premises? In case that suspect requires fully vaccinated witnesses who can present valid COVID Certificate or negative PCR test, how could his requirement be fulfilled? The possible solution for both evidence law and health reasons could be the use of modern technologies such as video recording that could replace mandatory witnesses presence. Finally, it would be more appropriate to respect the suspect’s choice on protection of his rights or to use modern technical means or defence lawyer, as in other investigative actions in criminal procedure.

In this study, a hybridized neural-genetic optimization methodology realized by embedding finite element analysis (FEA) trained artificial neural networks (ANN) into genetic algorithms (GA) is used to optimize temperature control in a ceramic based continuous flow polymerase chain reaction (CPCR) device. The CPCR device requires three thermally isolated zones of 94°C, 65°C and 72°C for the corresponding process of denaturing, annealing and extension to complete a cycle of polymerase chain reaction. Three separately addressable heaters provide heat input to each zone, microfluidic channels allow for the transport of fluid between zones and thermal isolation between the zones is maintained by machining air-gaps into the device. The most important aspect of temperature control in the CPCR is to maintain temperature distribution at each reaction zone with a precision of ±1°C or better irrespective of changing ambient conditions. Results obtained from the FEA simulation are compared with published experimental work. Simulation results show good comparison with experimental work for the temperature control in each reaction zone of the microfluidic channels. The data is then used to train the ANN to predict the temperature distribution of the microfluidic channel for new heater input power and fluid flow rate. Using these data, optimization of temperature control in the CPCR device is achieved by embedding the trained ANN results as a fitness function into GA. The objective of the optimization is to minimize the temperature difference in each reaction zone of the microfluidic channel while satisfying the residence time requirement. Finally, the optimized results for the CPCR device are used to build a new FEA model for numerical simulation analysis. The simulation results for the neural-genetic optimized CPCR model and the initial CPCR model are then compared. The neural-genetic optimized model shows a significant improvement from the initial model establishing the optimization methods superiority.
