Background: To study the epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and prognostic aspects of severe pre-eclampsia in the gynecology and obstetrics department of the CHR of Koudougou.Methods: descriptive cross-sectional study with prospective collection from January 1 to December 31, 2018. The variables studied focused on clinical socio-demographic characteristics, treatment and prognosis. The women admitted to the department and meeting the criteria for severe pre-eclampsia were included, more than 20 weeks of amenorrhea with an increase in blood pressure, presence of albumin in the urine and signs of clinical or biological seriousness.Results: Severe pre-eclampsia represented 2.3% of admissions and 3% of deliveries. The clinical profile was that of a young housewife (51.2%), married (72.4%), nulliparous (44.1%) with a pregnancy in the 3rd trimester. Symptoms were dominated by headache (53.5%) and diastolic blood pressure ≥110 mmHg (66.9%), with albuminuria greater than two crosses and hyperuricemia. Magnesium sulfate and clonidine were the most commonly prescribed anticonvulsant and antihypertensive drug, respectively. Cesarean section was performed in 53% of cases.Maternal complications were noted in 57.5% of cases without death. However, the fetus took a heavy toll with 50.7% morbidity and 14% perinatal mortality.Conclusions: Severe pre-eclampsia is responsible for heavy morbidity - perinatal mortality. Improving maternal and fetal prognosis will require compliance with treatment protocols and greater accessibility of care at all levels of the health pyramid.

Background: Objective was to study the indications and the prognosis of cesarean section in the obstetrics and gynecology department of CHR Koudougou from August 1st to October 16th 2018.Methods: This was a cross-sectional study for descriptive purposes with prospective collection of data over the month and monitoring of parturients up to the 42nd day post caesarean section. The study covered the period from August 1 to October 16, 2018. Gestures received in the work room and those hospitalized for a scheduled cesarean were involved in this study.Results: This study involved 316 deliveries. The caesarean section rate was 34.8% (n=110). The average age was 26.75 years with extremes of 12 and 42 years. Term pregnancies represented 90.9%. History of cesarean section was observed in 47, 3%. The main groups contributing to the caesarean section rate represent: Groups 5 (9.5%), Group 1 (9.2%), Group 3 (5.1%), the scar uterus (17.3%) and suffering fetal (14.6%). The reported complications were 15.5% including 3.6% parietal suppuration and 0.8% stillbirth.Conclusions: The caesarean section occupies an important place in the maternity service of the RHC of Koudougou. Robson's group 5 was the largest contributor to the overall cesarean rate in our study. Measures should be taken in this group so that the uterine scar does not become an absolute indication for cesarean.

<p><strong>Úrtak</strong>: Føroysk orðabókagerð kann førast aftur til 1770-árini, tá ið J. C. Svabo savnaði tilfar til eina føroysk-danska-latínska orðabók, sum tó ikki varð prentað tá. Svabo valdi eina stavseting, ið lá tætt við framburðin, og uppskriftir hansara geva tí góða lýsing av føroyskum, sum tað tá varð talað. Næsta stóra framstig í føroyskum skriftmáli var um miðju 19. øld, tá ið V. U. Hammershaimb gjørdi nýggjar stavsetingarreglur. Fyrsta føroyska orðasavn varð útgivið í 1891 sum partur av V. U. Hammershaimbs Færøsk Anthologi. Í 1927/28 kom út Føroysk-donsk orðabók eftir M. A. Jacobsen og Chr. Matras; henda orðabók kom út í øktari útgávu í 1961. Í seinnu helvt av 1900-árunum komu fleiri orðabøkur, allar tvímæltar. Higartil størsta orðabókin er <em>F</em><em>ø</em><em>r</em><em>o</em><em>ysk orðabók </em>frá 1998 við um leið 66.000 leitorðum. Í greinini verður tikið fram, hvussu føroysk orðabókagerð endurspeglar málrøktarstarv og skiftandi málpolitikk upp gjøgnum tíðirnar.</p><p><strong>A</strong><strong>bstract</strong>: Faroese lexicography can be dated back to the 1770’s, when J. C. Svabo compiled and prepared a manuscript for a Faroese-Danish-Latin dictionary, which however did not appear in his lifetime. Svabo constructed an orthography based on the spoken usage of words. In 1846 V. U. Hammershaimb published some texts in a new orthography based on etymological principles. The first Faroese dictionary appeared in print in 1891 as part of Hammershaimb’s Færøsk Anthologi. In 1927/28 appeared Føroysk-donsk orðabók by M. A. Jacobsen and Chr. Matras, an expanded edition was published in 1961. In the second half of the 1900s, several dictionaries were published, all bilingual. The most comprehensive dictionary, Føroysk orðabók, appeared in 1998 incorporating about 66,000 words. Moreover, this dictionary differs from the older ones in that meanings and definitions of the words are provided in Faroese and not in a foreign language. In the article is illustrated how Faroese lexicography reflects impacts of puristic activities and changing language politics over the years.</p>

Our previous study indicated that unilateral lesion of the ventral tegmental area (VTA) facilitates contralateral VTA stimulation-induced feeding or exploration. The present study was aimed to determine the possible role of the central cholinergic systems in this effect. Immunohistochemistry for choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) was used to measure the number of active cholinergic neurons in their major groups (Ch1–Ch6) and in striatal regions in rats subjected to unilateral electrocoagulation and contralateral VTA electrical stimulation (L/S group) in comparison to the unilaterally stimulated (S), unilaterally lesioned (L) and sham (Sh) groups. The study showed that unilateral VTA lesion increased (as compared to Sh group) the number of ChAT+ neurons in the Ch1–Ch3 and unilateral VTA stimulation increased the number in the Ch1 and the ventral pallidum only. The most sensitive to these changes in the mesolimbic system were cholinergic structures providing hippocampal afferentation. Surprisingly, there was no significant increase in the number of ChAT+ neurons in the L/S group. The obtained results did not confirm any evident influence of the cholinergic systems on the VTA lesion-induced facilitation of the behavioral response evoked by contralateral VTA stimulation.

Abstract Die seelischen Folgen aus der unglücklichen Dreiecksgeschichte in Wetzlar umschreibt Goethe rückblickend als ,historia morbi‘ oder ,taedium vitae‘. Seine eigene Krankengeschichte verbindet er im Werther mit anderen Fällen. Nie zuvor hat ein Ich so rückhaltlos von sich selbst erzählt, ohne den Autor dabei völlig preiszugeben. Nicht der Held, sondern das Büchlein empfiehlt sich als ein Freund, der das Publikum über den Menschen aufklärt. Tragische Leidenschaft und Selbstmord wären bloß schrecklich und kein Fundament für Freundschaft, die daraus kausal entwickelte Geschichte hingegen ist fesselnd und erhellend. Die Innovation des Werther besteht in der Suggestion von Authentizität, erstens durch Versatzstücke aus der Wirklichkeit und zweitens durch Darstellung einer lebendig dramatisierten, ,inneren Geschichte‘ aus der Ich-Perspektive. Das empfiehlt den Roman für mehrere Bühnenadaptionen, von denen hier Willers ,,bürgerliches Trauerspiel“ von 1778 betrachtet wird. Goethes neuartige Darstellungsverfahren machen den Werther zum Kultbuch, das eine erste moderne ,,Ichzeit“ einleitet – noch vor M. Biller, R. Goetz, H. Hegemann, W. Herrndorf oder Chr. Kracht.In retrospect, Goethe describes the emotional consequences of the unfortunate love triangle in Wetzlar as ‘historia morbi’ or ‘taedium vitae’. In Werther, he connects his own medical history with other cases. Never before has an ego spoken so wholeheartedly about itself without revealing the author completely. Not the hero, but the little book is recommended as a “friend” who enlightens the public about the nature of man. Tragic passion and suicide would be merely horrific and not the foundation of friendship, but the reasonably arranged story is compelling and enlightening. Werther’s innovation consists in the suggestion of authenticity, firstly through set pieces from reality and secondly through the depiction of a vividly dramatized ‘inner story’ from the first-person perspective. This recommends the novel for several stage adaptations, of which Willer’s “bourgeois tragedy” from 1778 is considered here. Goethe’s innovative methods of presentation make Werther a cult book, introducing a first modern “ego time” before M. Biller, R. Goetz, W. Herrndorf or Chr. Kracht.

Анотація:

In modern cars a lot of effort is put on reducing the background noise level. Despite these efforts it is often difficult for persons in the rear seat(s) to hear the persons in the front seat. This is partly due to the background noise, but also geometry and acoustics properties of the passenger compartment.

The aim of this thesis was to implement a speech enhancement system to increase the audibility between the driver and the rear passenger(s). The speech enhancement system should not affect the directivity of the speech or increase the background noise level.

A speech enhancement system has been implemented on a DSP in a test car. A microphone was placed in front of the driver to collect his/her speech. The microphone signal was bandpass filtered to remove the main part of the background noise and to avoid aliasing. The signal was delayed before it was sent out in the rear loudspeaker. The delay made the speech from the driver reaching the rear passenger before the sound the rear loudspeakers. This delay was enough to get the right directivity of the sound, i.e. making speech sounding as if it came from the driver instead of the rear loudspeakers.

In the thesis other methods to reduce background noise and get directivity of the sound were evaluated, but not implemented in the test car. The evaluations of the system showed that the audibility was increased. At the same time the background noise level was not noticeable increased. The work has been performed at A2 Acoustics AB in Linköping, during spring 2003.

Humans use all their senses when they explore and interact with the environment. In human-machine interaction, vision is the dominant sense and interfaces are seldom designed to provide haptic information, i.e. information that can be gathered by touch. There is a trend among car manufacturers to merge functions into multifunctional interfaces. These interfaces are generally based on one display and one main interaction device and have been criticized for being visually demanding to use while driving. To facilitate interaction with such an interface it is possible to utilize an interaction device, e.g. a rotary control, that can provide varying haptic information. The main purpose of this thesis was to investigate in-car human-machine interaction, with a primary focus on the use of haptics. Four experimental studies are included in the thesis. In study I the participants focused on the interaction with the experimental interface. In studies II, III and IV the interaction with the experimental interfaces was carried out while concurrently driving a car simulator. Study I demonstrated that congruent haptic and visual interface information can be transferred between the sensory modalities, but the transfer from haptics to vision seemed to be easier than from vision to haptics. Study II showed that, even though the eyes were kept on the road when only haptic interface information was provided, driving performance deteriorated. In studies I and II haptic interaction required serial processing of information which seemed to be trying. As a consequence the participants relied more on visual interface information when it was available. Study III demonstrated that well designed assisting haptics can facilitate interaction with a multifunctional interface. However, the study also indicated that it is important to carefully assess the use of the haptics since poorly designed haptics may confuse the user. Study IV compared an interface manoeuvred by a rotary control and a touch screen interface. The study showed that the optimal interface is dependent on the task being performed. However, it was shown that driving performance was affected to a greater extent when the touch screen interface was used, probably as a cause of the lower display position.

<div class="htmlview paragraph">The CBR [<span class="xref">1</span>] (Controlled Burn Rate) is a port deactivation concept developed by AVL and is already applied in series production cars. The benefit of this concept is the low engine-out emission (CO, HC and NOx) and good fuel economy. By creating turbulent kinetic energy at the correct time and place in the combustion chamber a rapid and stable combustion occurs which allows to run the engine well above a Lambda Excess Air Ratio of 1.5. The CBR system features two different intake ports, one charge motion port and one filling port. Additionally a device for port-deactivation (slider, butterfly) is applied. At part load points and lower engine speeds the filling port is switched off.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">The CBR concept was now evoluted for compact engines as CCBR - with carburetor and as CBR Light - for engines with electronic fuel injection.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">CCBR stands for Carbureted Controlled Burn Rate. The advantages in comparison to conventional port designs are a remarkable fuel consumption improvement compared to standard Carbureted engines and reduction of HC, CO and NOx emissions along with very little add-on cost. For low output engines the emission standard of Euro II can be achieved without any exhaust aftertreatment. Also Euro III standard shall be realizable by additional secondary air and oxidation catalyst application.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">For fuel injected engines CBR-Light has been developed, a Lean Burn System with electronic fuel injection and if required Air/Fuel sensor and closed loop control.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">The system CBR-Light can whether be operated as a lean burn system - aspirating air and fuel only with even better benefits than CCBR, but can also be operated at a stoichiometric Air/Fuel ratio with a Three-Way Catalyst and additional EGR (Exhaust Gas Re-circulation) of up to 25% (w/o residual gas) thus reducing the NOx emission and improving the fuel economy.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">The development steps are described in the paper and the results from the CFD simulation up to the combustion and the “Visio Tomo” (Tomographic Combustion Analysis) results are depicted.</div>

<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper describes the potential motorcycle application of a parallel hybrid powertrain that was conceptualized, designed, developed and tested (for passenger car application) at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). The patented powertrain mechanical layout and controller are described in this paper. The transitioning between operating modes has been analyzed for satisfactory performance. Initial fuel consumption simulations of the parallel hybrid drivetrain indicate more than double the fuel economy of an equivalent-size conventional drivetrain. The model has been previously validated on a passenger vehicle-sized prototype. The Southwest Research Institute inventors have been recently awarded U.S. Patent 6,110,066 for the parallel hybrid drivetrain.</div>

Pool boiling experiments investigated the effect of inclination angle on the Critical Heat Flux (CHF) for saturation boiling of PF-5060 dielectric liquid on MicroPorous Copper (MPC) surfaces of different thicknesses (80 to 230 μm). The morphology of the surfaces, deposited using electrochemical processes, vary with the thickness, and hence CHF. The inclination angles investigated are 0° (upward facing), 60°, 90° (vertical), 120°, 150°, 160°, 170° and 180° (downward facing). CHF decreases with decreasing MPC thickness and/or increasing inclination angle. The CHF values in the upward facing orientation are 39%–67% higher than on smooth, polished Cu. For all MPC surfaces, CHF values in the downward facing orientation are ∼ 28% of those in the upward facing orientation (0°). The developed CHF correlation accounts for the effects of MPC thickness and inclination angle and is in agreement with experimental data to within ± 8%.

Abstract Boiling heat transfer (BHT) is a promising technique to remove a high heat flux emitted from next-generation electronic devices. However, critical heat flux (CHF) is a big problem in BHT because it restricts the maximum performance of the cooling devices using BHT. Nanofluid has been widely used to improve the CHF. In this study, the authors investigated the BHT of a compact cooling device at low pressure using a special nanofluid: that is made with partially soluble particles in water. The experimental result found that the CHF with the special nanofluid is 170 W/cm2 and is higher than that with nanofluid made with an insoluble nanoparticle.

The US Congress codified the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA), the nation’s most effective cultural resources legislation to date, mostly through establishing the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The NHPA requires federal agencies to address their cultural resources, which are defined as any prehistoric or historic district, site, building, structure, or object. Section 110 of the NHPA requires federal agencies to inventory and evaluate their cultural resources, and Section 106 requires them to determine the effect of federal undertakings on those potentially eligible for the NRHP. Fort Hunter Liggett is in Central California, entirely within Monterey County. It was first established as the Hunter Liggett Military Reservation in 1941. The post was renamed Fort Hunter Liggett in 1975. This report provides a determination of eligibility for nine properties (Buildings 172, 179, 196, 197, 291, 2199, 723, and 914 and facilities 0301BS and radio-controlled aerial target [RCAT]) constructed between 1956 and 1972 and recommends that none are eligible under the NRHP and the California Register of Historic Resources (CRHR) criteria. Two other properties (Buildings 177 and 178) were found to be covered by the Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH) Program Comment of 2006. In consultation with the California State Historic Preservation Officer (CASHPO), this work fulfills Section 110 requirements for these buildings.

Structural and functional genomic approaches for marking and identifying genes that control chilling requirement in apricot and peach trees. Specific aims: 1) Identify and characterize the genetic nature of chilling requirement for flowering and dormancy break of vegetative shoots in Prunusgermplasm through the utilization of existing apricot (NeweYa'ar Research Center, ARO) and peach (Clemson University) genetic mapping populations; 2) Use molecular genetic mapping techniques to identify markers flanking genomic regions controlling chilling; 3) Comparatively map the regions controlling chilling requirement in apricot and peach and locate important genomic regions influencing chilling requirement on the Prunus functional genomic database as an initial step for identification of candidate genes; 4) Develop from the functional genomics database a set of markers facilitating the development of cultivars with optimized chilling requirements for improved and sustained fruit production in warm-winter environments. Dormant apricot (prunus armeniaca L.) and peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] trees require sustained exposure to low, near freezing, temperatures before vigorous floral and vegetative bud break is possible after the resumption of warm temperatures in the spring. The duration of chilling required (the chilling requirement, CR) is determined by the climatic adaptation of the particular cultivar, thus limiting its geographic distribution. This limitation is particularly evident when attempting to introduce superior cultivars to regions with very warm winter temperatures, such as Israel and the coastal southern United States. The physiological mechanism of CR is not understood and although breeding programs deliberately manipulate CR in apricot and peach crosses, robust closely associated markers to the trait are currently not available. We used segregating populations of apricot (100 Fl individuals, NeweYa'ar Research Center, ARO) and peach (378 F2 individuals, Clemson University) to discover several discreet genomic loci that regulate CR and blooming date. We used the extensive genomic/genetic resources available for Prunus to successfully combine our apricot and peach genetic data and identify five QTL with strong effects that are conserved between species as well as several QTL that are unique to each species. We have identified markers in the key major QTL regions for testing in breeding programs which we are carrying out currently; we have identified an initial set of candidate genes using the peach physical/transcriptome map and whole peach genome sequences and we are testing these currently to identify key target genes for manipulation in breeding programs. Our collaborative work to date has demonstrated the following: 1) CR in peach and apricot is predominantly controlled by a limited number ofQTL loci, seven detected in a peach F2 derived map comprising 65% of the character and 12 in an apricot Fl map comprising 71.6% and 55.6% of the trait in the Perfection and A. 1740 parental maps, respectively and that peach and apricot appear in our initial maps to share five genomic intervals containing potentially common QTL. 2) Application of common anchor markers of the Prunus/peach, physical/genetic map resources has allowed us not only to identify the shared intervals but also to have immediately available some putative candidate gene information from these intervals, the EVG region on LG1 in peach the TALY 1 region in apricot on LG2 in peach; and several others involved in vernalization pathways (LGI and LG7). 3) Mapped BACcontigs are easily defined from the complete physical map resources in peach through the common SSR markers that anchor our CR maps in the two species, 4) Sequences of BACs in these regions can be easily mined for additional polymorphic markers to use in MAS applications.

Increasing advancement in automotive technologies ensures that many more lightweight metals become added to the automotive components for the purpose of light weighting and passenger safety. The accidents are unexpected incidents most drivers cannot be avoided that trouble situation. Crash studies are among the most essential methods for enhancing automobile safety features. Crash simulations are attempting to replicate the circumstances of the initial crash. Frontal crashes are responsible for occupant injuries and fatalities 42% of accidents occur on frontal crash. This paper aims at studying the frontal collision of a passenger car frame for frontal crashes based on numerical simulation of a 35 MPH. The structure has been designed to replicate a frontal collision into some kind of inflexible shield at a speed of 15.6 m/s (56 km/h). The vehicle’s exterior body is designed by CATIA V5 R20 along with two material properties to our design. The existing Aluminum alloy 6061 series is compared with carbon fiber IM8 material. The simulation is being carried out by us in the “Radioss” available in “Hyper mesh 17.0” software. The energy conservation and momentum energy absorption are carried out from this dynamic structural analysis.
