Background:The Observational and Medical Outcomes Partnerships (OMOP) common data model (CDM) provides a framework for standardising health data with a view towards federated analyses, thus maximising the use and power of combining disparate datasets. Objectives:To assess feasibility and usefulness of mapping biologic registry data from different European countries to the OMOP CDM and present initial descriptive data regarding comorbidities. Methods:Five biologic registries, as part of a funded FOREUM project, have been mapped to the OMOP CDM: 1) the Czech biologics register (ATTRA), 2) Registro Español de Acontecimientos Adversos de Terapias Biológicas en Enfermedades Reumáticas (BIOBADASER), 3) British Society for Rheumatology Biologics Register for Rheumatoid Arthritis (BSRBR-RA), 4) German biologics register ‘Rheumatoid arthritis observation of biologic therapy’ (RABBIT), and 5) Swiss register ‘Swiss Clinical Quality Management in Rheumatic Diseases’ (SCQM). The mapping includes socio-demographic, observation period within the studies, baseline comorbidities, and baseline medications. Only patients with RA were included. Using R, registers received identical scripts to run on their mapped databases to produce an initial description of patient characteristics without the need to share patient-level data. Results:A total of 54,458 individuals are included the five registries being mapped to the OMOP CDM, see table. Age and gender distribution was similar across registries. All registers reported on cardiovascular system comorbidities, diabetes mellitus, mental disorders, and respiratory system comorbidities. However, it was noted that results of comorbidity mapping relies on what each register collect on each patient at the point of registration.Whilst the Charlson comorbidity index could be calculated within each registry, due to lack of the specific coding needed, such as “uncomplicated diabetes mellitus” / “end-organ damage diabetes mellitus”, it was felt to be an inaccurate measure. The granularity of the comorbidities was insufficient, as many registers coded, for example, diabetes mellitus without any extra information.Table 1.OARSI scoresRegistryATTRABIOBADASERBSRBR-RARABBITSCQMCountryCzechiaSpainUnited KingdomGermanySwitzerlandNumber of Participants23343012251791365210281Gender FemaleMale1808 (77%)526 (23%)2372 (79%)640 (21%)18995 (75%)6184 (25%)10191 (75%)3461 (25%)7584 (74%)2697 (26%)Age at observation start date59 (52, 66)56 (47, 63)58 (49, 66)58 (50, 67)57 (47, 66)First observation start dateFeb-2002Oct-1999Oct-2001Aug-2006March-1995Number of comorbidities1 (1, 2)1 (0, 2)1 (0, 2)2 (1, 3)2 (1, 4)Disorder of cardiovascular system1609 (69%)208 (7%)2239 (9%)6330 (46%)3969 (39%)Diabetes mellitus331 (14%)273 (9%)1770 (7%)1591 (12%)792 (8%)Depressive Disorder165 (7%)04971 (20%)1023 (7%)1337 (13%)Disorder of respiratory system215 (9%)209 (7%)4125 (16%)1282 (9%)1630 (16%)Conclusion:This is the first analysis of data from the newly mapped OMOP CDM across five European registers. Through mapping the registers into a CDM, and using the same script, the ability to undertake collaborative analysis without sharing patient level data outside of the country can be realised. Due to differences in study design and data capture, there needs to be a focus on harmonising the coding and analysing of the comorbidities and drugs across registries.Disclosure of Interests:Lianne Kearsley-Fleet: None declared, Kimme Hyrich: None declared, Martin Schaefer: None declared, Doreen Huschek: None declared, Anja Strangfeld: None declared, Jakub Zavada Speakers bureau: Abbvie, Eli-Lilly, UCB, Sanofi., Consultant of: Abbvie, UCB, Sanofi, Gilead., Markéta Lagová: None declared, Delphine Courvoisier Speakers bureau: Medtalks Switzerland, Christoph Tellenbach: None declared, Kim Lauper Speakers bureau: Medtalks Switzerland, Carlos Sánchez-Piedra: None declared, Nuria Montero: None declared, Jesús-Tomás Sánchez-Costa: None declared, Daniel Prieto-Alhambra Consultant of: Amgen (speaker fees and advisory board membership fees paid to DPA’s department) and UCB (consultancy fees paid to DPA’s department), Grant/research support from: grants and other from AMGEN, grants, non-financial support and other from UCB Biopharma, grants from Les Laboratoires Servier, outside the submitted work., Edward Burn: None declared

Background:The Observational and Medical Outcomes Partnerships (OMOP) common data model (CDM) provides a framework for standardising health data. Objectives:To map national biologic registry data collected from different European countries to the OMOP CDM.Methods:Five biologic registries are currently being mapped to the OMOP CDM: 1) the Czech biologics register (ATTRA), 2) Registro Español de Acontecimientos Adversos de Terapias Biológicas en Enfermedades Reumáticas (BIOBADASER), 3) British Society for Rheumatology Biologics Register for Rheumatoid Arthritis (BSRBR-RA), 4) German biologics register ‘Rheumatoid arthritis observation of biologic therapy’ (RABBIT), and 5) Swiss register ’Swiss Clinical Quality Management in Rheumatic Diseases’ (SCQM).Data collected at baseline are being mapped first. Details that uniquely identify individuals are mapped to the person table, with the observation_period table defining the time a person may have had clinical events recorded. Baseline comorbidities are mapped to the condition_occurrence CDM table, while baseline medications are mapped to the drug_exposure CDM table. This mapping is summarised in Figure 1.Figure 1.Overview of initial mappingResults:A total of 64,901 individuals are included in the 5 registries being mapped to the OMOP CDM, see table 1. The number of unique baseline conditions being mapped range from 17 in BSRBR-RA to 108 in RABBIT, while the number of baseline medications range from 26 in ATTRA to 802 in BSRBR-RA. Those registries which captured more comorbidities or medications generally allowed for these to be inputted as free text.Table 1.Summary of initial code mappingRegistryNumber of individualsNumber of mapped baseline conditionsNumber of mapped baseline medicationsATTRA5,3262626BIOBADASER6,4963051BSRBR-RA21,69517802RABBIT13,06210878SCQM18,3222633Conclusion:Due to differences in study design and data capture, the baseline information captured on comorbidities and drugs across registries varies greatly. However, these data have been mapped and mapping biologic registry data to the OMOP CDM is feasible. The adoption of the OMOP CDM will facilitate collaboration across registries and allow for multi-database studies which include data from both biologic registries and other sources of health data which have been mapped to the CDM.Disclosure of Interests:Edward Burn: None declared, Lianne Kearsley-Fleet: None declared, Kimme Hyrich Grant/research support from: Pfizer, UCB, BMS, Speakers bureau: Abbvie, Martin Schaefer: None declared, Doreen Huschek: None declared, Anja Strangfeld Speakers bureau: AbbVie, BMS, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis, Jakub Zavada Speakers bureau: Abbvie, UCB, Sanofi, Elli-Lilly, Novartis, Zentiva, Accord, Markéta Lagová: None declared, Delphine Courvoisier: None declared, Christoph Tellenbach: None declared, Kim Lauper: None declared, Carlos Sánchez-Piedra: None declared, Nuria Montero: None declared, Jesús-Tomás Sanchez-Costa: None declared, Daniel Prieto-Alhambra Grant/research support from: Professor Prieto-Alhambra has received research Grants from AMGEN, UCB Biopharma and Les Laboratoires Servier, Consultant of: DPA’s department has received fees for consultancy services from UCB Biopharma, Speakers bureau: DPA’s department has received fees for speaker and advisory board membership services from Amgen

Abstract Introduction: The Haematology Outcomes Network in EURope (HONEUR) is an interdisciplinary initiative aimed at improving patient outcomes by analyzing real world data across hematological centers in Europe. Its overarching goal is to create a secure network which facilitates the development of a collaborative research community and allows access to big data tools for analysis of the data. The central paradigm in the HONEUR network is a federated model whereby the data stays at the respective sites and the analysis is executed at the local data sources. To allow for a uniform data analysis, the common data model 'OMOP' (Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership) was selected and extended to accommodate specific hematology data elements. Objective: To demonstrate feasibility of the OMOP common data model for the HONEUR network. Methods: In order to validate the architecture of the HONEUR network and the applicability of the OMOP common data model, data from the EMMOS registry (NCT01241396) have been used. This registry is a prospective, non-interventional study that was designed to capture real world data regarding treatments and outcomes for multiple myeloma at different stages of the disease. Data was collected between Oct 2010 and Nov 2014 on more than 2,400 patients across 266 sites in 22 countries. Data was mapped to the OMOP common data model version 5.3. Additional new concepts to the standard OMOP were provided to preserve the semantic mapping quality and reduce the potential loss of granularity. Following the mapping process, a quality analysis was performed to assess the completeness and accuracy of the mapping to the common data model. Specific critical concepts in multiple myeloma needed to be represented in OMOP. This applies in particular for concepts like treatment lines, cytogenetic observations, disease progression, risk scales (in particular ISS and R-ISS). To accommodate these concepts, existing OMOP structures were used with the definition of new concepts and concept-relationships. Results: Several elements of mapping data from the EMMOS registry to the OMOP common data model (CDM) were evaluated via integrity checks. Core entities from the OMOP CDM were reconciled against the source data. This was applied for the following entities: person (profile of year of birth and gender), drug exposure (profile of number of drug exposures per drug, at ATC code level), conditions (profile of number of occurrences of conditions per condition code, converted to SNOMED), measurement (profile of number of measurements and value distribution per (lab) measurement, converted to LOINC) and observation (profile of number of observations per observation concept). Figure 1 shows the histogram of year of birth distribution between the EMMOS registry and the OMOP CDM. No discernible differences exist, except for subjects which have not been included in the mapping to the OMOP CDM due to lacking confirmation of a diagnosis of multiple myeloma. As additional part of the architecture validation, the occurrence of the top 20 medications in the EMMOS registry and the OMOP CDM were compared, with a 100% concordance for the drug codes, which is shown in Figure 2. In addition to the reconciliation against the different OMOP entities, a comparison was also made against 'derived' data, in particular 'time to event' analysis. Overall survival was plotted from calculated variables in the analysis level data from the EMMOS registry and derived variables in the OMOP CDM. Probability of overall survival over time was virtually identical with only one day difference in median survival and 95% confidence intervals identically overlapping over the period of measurement (Figure 3). Conclusions: The concordance of year of birth, drug code mapping and overall survival between the EMMOS registry and the OMOP common data model indicates the reliability of mapping potential in HONEUR, especially where auxiliary methods have been developed to handle outcomes and treatment data in a way that can be harmonized across platform datasets. A great challenge in the use of standardized cancer registry data is deriving reliable, evidence-based results from large amounts of data. A solution could be its mapping to a common data model such as OMOP, which represents knowledge in a unified semantic base, enabling decentralized analysis. The recently released Episode Domain of the OMOP CDM allows episodic modelling of a patient’ disease and treatment phases. In this study, we mapped oncology registry data to the Episode Domain. A total of 184,718 Episodes could be implemented, with the Concept of Cancer Drug Treatment most frequently. Additionally, source data were mapped to new terminologies as part of the release. It was possible to map ≈ 73.8% of the source data to the respective OMOP standard. Best mapping was achieved in the Procedure Domain with 98.7%. To evaluate the implementation, the survival probabilities of the CDM and source system were calculated (n = 2756/2902, median OAS = 82.2/91.1 months, 95% Cl = 77.4–89.5/84.4–100.9). In conclusion, the new release of the CDM increased its applicability, especially in observational cancer research. Regarding the mapping, a higher score could be achieved if terminologies which are frequently used in Europe are included in the Standardized Vocabulary Metadata Repository.

Real-world evidence is important to help unravel unanswered problems in severe asthma and is valuable to better understand the patient experience and common clinical practice. The Severe Heterogeneous Asthma Registry, Patient-centred (SHARP) Clinical Research Collaboration is created as a network of national registries and severe asthma centres that work together to perform registry based real-world research and clinical studies on a pan-European scale.Such collaboration requires a new, innovative design to overcome the many issues that arise with large-scale data collection across national borders. SHARP has developed a platform that offers a federated analysis approach where national registry data are transformed and integrated into a common data model (CDM). The CDM then allows a local analysis of de-identified patient data and subsequent aggregate (meta-)analysis. To facilitate an easily accessible way to set up new registries, SHARP enables new registries to take part in a central database, based on already proven technology. Next to being economical, this linkage ensures data from different SHARP central members to be comparable.Technological advancements lead to an ever-expanding rate of patient data that will be collected; with the collective effort of the pan-European severe asthma research community SHARP hopes to ensure that they are well equipped to enter a new era of medical research, with the ultimate goal to positively impact the lives of patients with severe asthma.

The number of older people living with chronic health conditions is increasing in Australia. The Chronic Disease Management (CDM) items program was introduced to the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) to encourage a more structured approach to managing patients with chronic conditions. Initial uptake was slow and recent research has suggested that uptake is decreasing. This paper examines: person MBS CDM claims in NSW between 2006 and 2014 — using baseline survey data (2006–09) from the Sax Institute’s 45 and Up Study linked to MBS and Death Registry data (2006–14) — and MBS CDM claims per 100000 population — using billing data sourced from the Medicare Australia Statistics website — to systematically examine any changes in uptake using a time-series analysis. After age adjustment, claims for initial plans increased from 11.3% in 2006 to 22.4% in 2014. Increases were also seen for allied health service claims (from 4.1% in 2006 to 20.8% in 2014) and for plan reviews (from 5.9% in 2006 to 16.0% in 2014). These increases were consistent with the MBS summary claims data. There is evidence that these plans are appropriately targeting those in most need; however, there is limited evidence of their effect. Claims for plan reviews, although increasing, are suboptimal and may indicate poor continuity of care.

Background Efficiently sharing health data produced during standard care could dramatically accelerate progress in cancer treatments, but various barriers make this difficult. Not sharing these data to ensure patient privacy is at the cost of little to no learning from real-world data produced during cancer care. Furthermore, recent research has demonstrated a willingness of patients with cancer to share their treatment experiences to fuel research, despite potential risks to privacy. Objective The objective of this study was to design, pilot, and release a decentralized, scalable, efficient, economical, and secure strategy for the dissemination of deidentified clinical and genomic data with a focus on late-stage cancer. Methods We created and piloted a blockchain-authenticated system to enable secure sharing of deidentified patient data derived from standard of care imaging, genomic testing, and electronic health records (EHRs), called the Cancer Gene Trust (CGT). We prospectively consented and collected data for a pilot cohort (N=18), which we uploaded to the CGT. EHR data were extracted from both a hospital cancer registry and a common data model (CDM) format to identify optimal data extraction and dissemination practices. Specifically, we scored and compared the level of completeness between two EHR data extraction formats against the gold standard source documentation for patients with available data (n=17). Results Although the total completeness scores were greater for the registry reports than those for the CDM, this difference was not statistically significant. We did find that some specific data fields, such as histology site, were better captured using the registry reports, which can be used to improve the continually adapting CDM. In terms of the overall pilot study, we found that CGT enables rapid integration of real-world data of patients with cancer in a more clinically useful time frame. We also developed an open-source Web application to allow users to seamlessly search, browse, explore, and download CGT data. Conclusions Our pilot demonstrates the willingness of patients with cancer to participate in data sharing and how blockchain-enabled structures can maintain relationships between individual data elements while preserving patient privacy, empowering findings by third-party researchers and clinicians. We demonstrate the feasibility of CGT as a framework to share health data trapped in silos to further cancer research. Further studies to optimize data representation, stream, and integrity are required.

Abstract Background Improving outcomes of transplant recipients within and across transplant centers is important with the increasing number of organ transplantations being performed. The current practice is to analyze the outcomes based on patient level data submitted to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). Augmenting the UNOS data with other sources such as the electronic health record will enrich the outcomes analysis, for which a common data model (CDM) can be a helpful tool for transforming heterogeneous source data into a uniform format. Objectives In this study, we evaluated the feasibility of representing concepts from the UNOS transplant registry forms with the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) CDM vocabulary to understand the content coverage of OMOP vocabulary on transplant-specific concepts. Methods Two annotators manually mapped a total of 3,571 unique concepts extracted from the UNOS registry forms to concepts in the OMOP vocabulary. Concept mappings were evaluated by (1) examining the agreement among the initial two annotators and (2) investigating the number of UNOS concepts not mapped to a concept in the OMOP vocabulary and then classifying them. A subset of mappings was validated by clinicians. Results There was a substantial agreement between annotators with a kappa score of 0.71. We found that 55.5% of UNOS concepts could not be represented with OMOP standard concepts. The majority of unmapped UNOS concepts were categorized into transplant, measurement, condition, and procedure concepts. Conclusion We identified categories of unmapped concepts and found that some transplant-specific concepts do not exist in the OMOP vocabulary. We suggest that adding these missing concepts to OMOP would facilitate further research in the transplant domain.

IntroductionCongenital anomalies (CAs) are a major cause of infant mortality, childhood morbidity and long-term disability. Over 130 000 children born in Europe every year will have a CA. This paper describes the EUROlinkCAT study, which is investigating the health and educational outcomes of children with CAs for the first 10 years of their lives. Methods and analysisEUROCAT is a European network of population-based registries for the epidemiological surveillance of CAs. EUROlinkCAT is using the EUROCAT infrastructure to support 22 EUROCAT registries in 14 countries to link their data on births with CAs to mortality, hospital discharge, prescription and educational databases. Once linked, each registry transforms their case data into a common data model (CDM) format and they are then supplied with common STATA syntax scripts to analyse their data. The resulting aggregate tables and analysis results are submitted to a central results repository (CRR) and meta-analyses are performed to summarise the results across all registries. The CRR currently contains data on 155 594 children with a CA followed up to age 10 from a population of 6 million births from 1995 to 2014.EthicsThe CA registries have the required ethics permissions for routine surveillance and transmission of anonymised data to the EUROCAT central database. Each registry is responsible for applying for and obtaining additional ethics and other permissions required for their participation in EUROlinkCAT.DisseminationThe CDM and associated documentation, including linkage and standardisation procedures, will be available post-EUROlinkCAT thus facilitating future local, national and European-level analyses to improve healthcare. Recommendations to improve the accuracy of routinely collected data will be made.Findings will provide evidence to inform parents, health professionals, public health authorities and national treatment guidelines to optimise diagnosis, prevention and treatment for these children with a view to reducing health inequalities in Europe.

The Spanish DGRN examines all the regulations applicable to the Chattels Registry, especially Spanish “Real Decreto 384/2015”, of 22 May, which approves the Regulation of registration of civil aircraft, as one of its objectives is coordination between the Chattels Registry y the Aircraft Registry. However, the “Real Decreto 384/2015” doesn´t completely solve the problems that already existed, with respect to the registration of leasing of aircraft in the Chattels Registry, since they remain applicable obsolete laws, as is the case of art. 180 of the Spanish Regulation of “Registro Mercantil” of 1956.Keywords: leasing contracts, civil aircrafts, Chattels Registry, Aircraft Registry, Real Decreto 384/2015, Regulation of “Registro Mercantil” of 1956.s

Over the last few decades our society has moved towards restricting where sexual offenders can live, work, and overall congregate. This issue has been the focus of great public attention due to the media's role in bringing these offenders to the light. Whether it is through the news, movies, TV series, books, talk shows, newspapers articles, etc., these offenders are constantly being talked about. Every body of government in the United States has moved towards implementing restrictions that are aimed at keeping sex offenders away from places where they are considered a potential danger. However, what it is not talked about is that in efforts to limit where sex offenders can live and work to ensure the safety of our society; we are isolating these offenders and hindering their reintegration into our society. By isolating sexual offenders from our society we are doing more harm than good because we are discriminating and not working to fit the needs of each individual offender. One size does not fit all. The intent of this thesis is to explore sexual offender legal restrictions, treatment, case law, constitutionality of these laws and to compare Florida's approach towards restriction of sexual offenders with other states. Through the analysis of case law and statutes, recidivism rates, and treatment options this thesis will evaluate what different approaches should be taken towards aiding the reintegration of sexual offenders into our society. This thesis will provide background information on sexual offenders, compare legal restrictions among states, give an analysis of sexual offender websites, and provide recommendations to a better approach in treating sexual offenders. By raising awareness to the unfairness of treatment of sexual offenders, this thesis aims to open a new gateway to determine more successful ways to rehabilitate sexual offenders.

Over the past several years, increasing public emphasis on preventing child maltreatment has resulted in substantial changes to Florida's child abuse and neglect central registry. Many of these recent changes, aimed at preventing child maltreatment, have resulted in over one million false, unsubstantiated, and inconclusive reports of child abuse and neglect within the last decade. While the information held in reports may be useful for identifying and preventing potential child abuse or neglect, due process concerns have been raised with regards to the process of placing a person's name in a report without providing a hearing for challenging or removing inaccurate information. Focusing on Florida law, this research concentrates on: 1) the child maltreatment reporting process, 2) the procedures for maintaining reports, and 3) the accessibility of these reports in order to determine whether due process constitutional rights are protected under Florida's child abuse and neglect reporting laws. The intent of this thesis is to analyze the occurrence of unsubstantiated cases of child maltreatment, incidences of false reporting, and legal remedies available for those wrongfully accused of abusing or neglecting a child. Through the analysis of case law, federal and state statutes, available statistics, child abuse resources, and personal interviews with members of the Florida Legislature, evidence shows that due process constitutional rights are not protected under Florida's child abuse and neglect reporting laws. By raising awareness of the areas of child protection that require legal re-evaluation, this thesis aims to discover the balance between protecting children from harm and protecting adults from the severe ramifications resulting from false and improper allegations of child abuse and neglect.

Kidney transplant recipients must take immunosuppressive medications to prevent the rejection of their transplanted kidney. If female transplant recipients become pregnant, however, very limited data are available about the effects of these medications on their exposed offspring. This study specifically reviews two of the most commonly used immunosuppressive medications prescribed to transplant recipients, cyclosporine and tacrolimus, and evaluates physical and cognitive development of the recipients' children who were exposed to these medications in utero. Participants in this study (n = 71) were female kidney transplant recipients who (a) voluntarily consented to be part of the National Transplantation Pregnancy Registry, (b) took cyclosporine or tacrolimus while pregnant, (c) had a child who is under the age of 6 years at the time of the study, and (d) were reachable via phone. Participants were asked standardized assessment questions related to their child's cognition and physical abilities from the Development Assessment of Young Children (DAYC). Standard scores from the assessment were recorded and analyzed to show that children exposed to cyclosporine or tacrolimus showed higher cognitive scores on the DAYC compared to the normative population. Children exposed to cyclosporine also showed higher physical scores compared to the normative population. Children exposed to tacrolimus did not show significant differences in physical development from the normative population. When cyclosporine or tacrolimus are required during pregnancy, these results help provide reassurance to parents and medical care providers about the cognitive and physical development of their offspring. Practical implications for school psychologists, limitations of this research, and directions for future research were discussed.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which enrollment management models have been successfully implemented within the 28 Florida community colleges. The study also sought to determine when enrollment management structures began and whether expected benefits were achieved. Analysis of the data collected in this study indicated the following five major findings. First, enrollment management concepts and practices have been implemented at some level within the 23 Florida community colleges surveyed. This was evident by the use of the word "enrollment" in the organizational titles as well as in the titles of the individuals who were responsible for the models. Second, enrollment management models reported were determined to be relatively new in comparison to four-year institutions. The literature on enrollment management demonstrated that four-year colleges began enrollment management practices in the early-to-mid 1970s. Much of the existing literature on enrollment management has been based on the experiences at four-year institutions. Third, some enrollment management divisions appeared to have key enrollment offices displaced. The key enrollment offices selected in this study were supported throughout the literature. Those offices represented were as follows: Admissions, Records and Registration, Financial aid, Orientation, and Advising. Fourth, increasing enrollment was the strongest reason for implementing the enrollment structure and subsequently was the strongest benefit realized. The anticipated decline in high school graduates, and the expectation of subsequent declining college enrollments during the 1970s, provided the impetus for the adoption of models of enrollment management. The fifth finding was that moving key enrollment offices such as financial aid into the enrollment management organizations would be an improvement to existing models. As enrollment management concepts are implemented into practice, the realignment of related offices may be necessary to effectively accomplish goals.

Background. The mounting burden of chronic disease associated with population ageing creates a challenge for health systems. Healthcare organisations are addressing this challenge by exploring new ways to improve patient health outcomes, including through the use of information technologies. Aim. This research aimed to identify key design features of a chronic disease management (CDM) register for the public sector health services provided in the Australian Capital Territory. Methods and setting. ACT Health, a government agency, is the largest health service provider in the ACT. An organisational analysis of ACT Health was conducted using qualitative, quantitative, and participant observation methods. Three index conditions- Chronic Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 defined information according to the 'International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Health Related Problems: lOth Revision, Australian Modification' (ICD-10-AM) were chosen for data collection and analysis. Results. ACT Health policies support evidence-based CDM interventions, but their implementation has been slow and disjointed. This research found that support for CDM in ACT Health is within the 'basic support' range as measured by the MacColl Institute's Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (ACIC) survey. The survey revealed continuity of care as a concern. On the positive side, factor analysis of the survey results identified a novel 'patient empowerment' factor that was strength within ACT Health. This patient empowerment factor is somewhat more than a concept; it is one of the powerful predictors of positive outcomes for CDM interventions, and has policy importance in this particular regional health system for working toward CDM goals. In the participant observation aspect of this research, these findings were taken up to enrich the design features for an effective CDM register by incorporating the views of health professionals, patients and their carers. This research identified five data categories and associated variables required to support a CDM register. These five data categories are patient details, medical details, provider details, prevention details, and case coordination details. The prevention detail category is the centre of a CDM register intervention and consists of diagnostic, therapeutic and behavioural sub-categories. However, the research identified challenges regarding availability and completeness of these data in all five categories. Combining the survey and participant observation suggests that electronically incorporating standardised clinical information into a CDM register should enhance multidisciplinary communication, care planning and coordinated service delivery. A clinical data repository with data extraction and filtration systems compliant with the Health Level Seven International (HL7) metadata standard would enable the organisation to populate a CDM register's data fields from multiple sources. Conclusion. A health service specific CDM register based on established data standards can actively support effective CDM interventions within the service. Further expansion toward a population-based CDM register would depend on implementation of local and national e-Health initiatives to standardise clinical information for automatic extraction into CDM registers. The research provides policy and design recommendations to further strengthen chronic care processes to benefit patients with chronic diseases, their carers and health service providers.

Following antigenic challenge, naïve CD8+ T lymphocytes undergo severalchanges, including the expression of cell-surface molecules. In humans, theassociation of CCR7, CD45RA, CD27 and CD28 is widely used to discriminate areproducible set of functionally different subpopulations of CD8+ T cells. However, the prevailing data concerning the description of these subsets remainsfragmentary, since a multitude of studies used a different and limited set of surfacemarkers. Hence, some CD8+ T-cell subsets are still not clearly established, especially within the CCR7 CD45RA+ and CCR7 CD45R0+ compartments, andthe correspondent differential roles and lineage relationships remain undisclosed. The present study aims to define a predictable and precise correlationbetween particular cell surface markers and CD8+ T-cell functional properties. Weassociated CCR7, CD45RA, CD27 and CD28 expression levels to subdivide CD8+T cells into fourteen different cell types. These populations were further isolatedand gene expression of 18 genes was assessed, simultaneously, in single-cells bya novel multiplex RT-PCR method we developed. Our results demonstrate that thedifferent subpopulations display distinct and characteristic gene co-expressionpatterns, reproducible between donors. CD45RA expression is required to definethe naïve subset, but does not discriminate functionally different populations ofprimed cells. In contrast, gene expression profiles of CCR7-CD8+ T cells correlatesignificantly to CD27 expression levels and CD27/CD28 co-expression, and ahierarchy of activation stages could be established as follows: naïve < CD27high

Energy efficiency is a key requirement for wireless sensor nodes, biomedical implants, and wearable devices. The energy consumption of the sensor node needs to be minimized to avoid battery replacement, or even better, to enable the device to survive on energy harvested from the ambient. Capacitive sensors do not consume static power; thus, they are attractive from an energy efficiency perspective. In addition, they can be employed in a wide range of sensing applications. However, the sensor readout circuit–i.e., the capacitance-to-digital converter (CDC)–can be the dominant source of energy consumption in the system. Thus, the development of energy-efficient CDCs is crucial to minimizing the energy consumption of capacitive sensor nodes. In the first part of this dissertation, we propose several energy-efficient CDC architectures for low-energy sensor nodes. First, we propose a digitally-controlled coarsefine multislope CDC that employs both current and frequency scaling to achieve significant improvement in energy efficiency. Second, we analyze the limitations of successive approximation (SAR) CDC, and we address these limitations by proposing a robust parasitic-insensitive opamp-based SAR CDC. Third, we propose an inverter-based SAR CDC that achieves an energy efficiency figure-of-merit (FoM) of 31fJ/Step, which is the best energy efficiency FoM reported to date. Fourth, we propose a differential SAR CDC with quasi-dynamic operation to maintain excellent energy efficiency for a scalable sample rate. In the second part of this dissertation, we study the matching properties of small integrated capacitors, which are an integral component of energy-efficient CDCs. Despite conventional wisdom, we experimentally illustrate that the mismatch of small capacitors can be directly measured, and we report mismatch measurements for subfemtofarad integrated capacitors. We also correct the common misconception that lateral capacitors match better than vertical capacitors, and we identify the conditions that make one implementation preferable. In the third and last part of this dissertation, we investigate the potential of novel metal-organic framework (MOF) thin films in capacitive gas sensing. We provide sensitivity-based optimization and simple fabrication flow for capacitive interdigitated electrodes. We use a custom flexible gas sensor test setup that is designed and built in-house to characterize MOF-based capacitive gas sensors.

The purpose of this study was to develop a laboratory based Comprehensive Care, Management and Treatment of HIV and AIDS (CCMT) programme status reporting system using a methodological research study design. Quantitative data was collected using a request form and qualitative data was collected using structured questionnaires. For the study 1190 eligible CD4 samples were received, of which 1004 (84%) had a valid CCMT programme status. Overall 32% of the CD4 samples had a pre-ART status (n=383) and 52% had an ART status (n=621). The remaining 16% of CD4 samples (n=186) did not have a valid CCMT programme status. A pre-ART register was generated and assessed using a structured questionnaire. Based on the study findings a recommendation has been made to adopt the two-tick design for all NHLS request forms where programmatic data is collected. Additionally the CCMT programme status reporting system is recommended for rollout to other health districts

Olá professor(a)! Seja bem-vindo(a) ao CURSO FORMAÇÃO DE MEDIADORES EM EDUCAÇÃO PARA REDUÇÃO DE RISCOS DE DESASTRES NO ESTADO DA PARAÍBA (ERRD PB)!

The need for health data to be internationally Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) and thereby support integrative analysis with other datasets has become crystal clear in the ongoing pandemic. The Dutch National Intensive Care Evaluation (NICE) quality registry adopted the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership Common Database Model (OMOP CDM) to achieve a FAIR database. In the process of adopting the OMOP CDM, many modeling, technical, and communication challenges needed to be solved. Through communication with the OMOP CDM implementation community, previously done research and trial-and-error we found solutions that we believe can help other healthcare institutions, especially ICU quality registries, FAIRify their databases.

Engineering a microenvironment where the growth substrate and distance between cells are controlled is highly desirable to understand how cellular interactions affect stem cell differentiation. Laser direct-write (LDW) allows rapid and precise placement of living cells via computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) control. Application of this technique to study the effects of various stem cell microenvironments on differentiation requires a high-throughput experimental setup [1]. Recently, our lab has developed a gelatin-based LDW method for the precise patterning of sensitive cell types, such as mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs), at a resolution of about 5 μm [2]. Although viable mESCs were successfully printed with maintained pluripotency, this technique required cells to be patterned onto polystyrene Petri dishes [2,3], which may limit high-throughput efficiency. Moreover, the use of polystyrene Petri dishes requires large quantities of culture medium and is not convenient for biological analysis of mESC differentiation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to adapt the LDW method, without altering its prior success, to transfer patterns of viable mESCs to glass cover slips. However, this adaptation to cover slips could not be achieved through simple downscaling due to the unique challenges of providing sufficient moisture for viable cell transfer while maintaining pattern registry on a cover slip. Once cells have been laser patterned, cover slips can then be moved to a 24-well plate so that separate sets of laser patterned cells can be analyzed in parallel for higher experimental throughput utilizing fewer resources to maintain the cells.

Associative Processing provides high-performance and energyefficient parallel computation using a Content-Addressable Memory (CAM). Emerging big data applications can be significantly sped-up by Associative Processing, but validation and evaluation are key challenges. We present RVAcross, a RISC-V Associative Processing Simulator for testing, validation, and modeling associative operations. RV-Across eases the design of associative and near-memory processing architectures by offering interfaces to both building new operations and providing high-level experimentation. Our simulator records memory and registers states of each associative operation pass, giving the user visibility and control over the simulation. The user can employ the simulation statistics provided by RV-Across to compute performance and energy metrics. RV-Across implements common associative operations and provides a framework to allow for easy extension. We show how the simulator works by experimenting with different scenarios for associative operations with three applications that test the functionality of logic and arithmetic computations: matrix multiply, checksum, and bitcount. Our results highlight the direct relation between the data length and potential performance improvement of associative processing in comparison to regular CPU serial and parallel operation. In case of matrix multiplication, the speed-up increases linearly with matrices dimension, achieving 8X for 200x200 bytes matrices and overcoming parallel execution in an 8-core CPU.

AND “metastasis” AND “female genital tract”.

Review question / Objective: As a common type of clinical dementia, the prevalence rate of vascular dementia(VaD) increased rapidly in recent years, damaging both patients’ health and social-economic prospect. There is currently no effective treatment for VaD, though western medicines can slightly improve patients' cognitive function, but not brought a significant improvement in daily life ability. Chinese herbal medicine(CHM) has been widely employed to treat dementia for more than 2000 years in China. Despite the proliferation of relevant literature, there is still a lack of evidence to prove the effectiveness and safety of such therapy. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis protocol is aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of CHM forVaD. Review question / Objective: Currently, pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with ILM peeling is the gold standard treatment for full thickness macular hole (FTMH). Despite of the high macular hole closure rate, a refractory FTMH may occur. The next step for a recurrent or persistent MH is usually repeat PPV with extended ILM peeling. This is not always an option especially with high myopia patients or those who had already undergone an aggressive ILM peeling at initial surgery. A variety of novel techniques have been developed to address this issue, among which human amniotic membrane seems to be a promising adjuvant. However, there are still uncertainties regarding the integration and the long-term effects of of the graft.
