The present study deals two new alpheid shrimp species from the transisthmian Salmoneus ortmanni (Rankin, 1898) complex. Salmoneus alvarezi sp. nov. is described based on materials collected in Bahía Málaga, Colombia, and Punta Morales, Costa Rica, and is closely related to the western Atlantic S. ortmanni and S. wehrtmanni Anker, 2011. Salmoneus malagensis sp. nov. is described based on specimens from Bahía Málaga, Colombia, and beyond any doubts represents the eastern Pacific sister species of the western Atlantic S. carvachoi Anker, 2007. The two new species can be easily distinguished from each other by a number of morphological characters and colouration, and in addition appear to be ecologically separated. All previous records of S. ortmanni from the eastern Pacific are reassigned, some tentatively, to S. alvarezi sp. nov. based on description, illustrations or ecological data.

The genus Ocnophila Brunner, 1907 is here redescribed with an emended diagnosis, containing three valid species from Venezuela and Colombia: Ocnophila integra Brunner, 1907 with Ocnophila signatior Brunner, 1907 syn. nov. as a new junior synonym, Ocnophila iphicla (Westwood, 1859) and Ocnophila serrata sp. nov. In addition to the description of the new species we redescribe O. integra and O. iphicla, also providing a description of the male genitalia for O. integra. Two closely related species of the alpheid shrimp genus Salmoneus Holthuis, 1955 are described as new, viz. S. excavatus sp. nov. from the tropical eastern Pacific (Panama, Colombia), and S. depressus sp. nov. from the western Atlantic (Panama, Venezuela, Barbados). The two species share the presence of a dent-like, deep, longitudinal depression on the dorsal surface of the carapace, a feature unique within Salmoneus, the Alpheidae, and possibly the infra-order Caridea, as well as several other characters, thus forming a transisthmian sister species pair.

<p>Para contrarrestar el efecto limitante de la antracnosis (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Penz.] Penz. 1 Sacc.) en los huertos de mango es necesario, entre otras medidas de manejo, utilizar cultivares que presenten cierto grado de tolerancia o resistencia a esta enfermedad fungosa. Por lo tanto, es necesario ampliar la evaluación de cultivares para encontrar aquellos que puedan ofrecer mayores alternativas de control a los productores. Para el efecto se realizó un estudio en el Centro de Investigación (C.I.) Caribia de la Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria -Corpoica-, ubicado en el corregimiento de Sevilla, municipio de Ciénaga, departamento del Magdalena, Colombia, durante los primeros semestres de 1992, 1993y 1994 (cosecha principal en la Región Caribe). Allí se evaluaron nvarieda des en 1992, 14 en 1993 y 15 en 1994, con un diseño estadístico completamente al azar con, tres repeticiones, y tomando tres plantas como unidad experimental. Los parámetros evaluados fueron incidencia y severidad de la enfermedad, y para ello se realizaron lecturas semanales. Los análisis estadísticos mostraron diferencias altamente significativas entre los tratamientos; se destacaron los cultivares Vandyke y Kent en 1992; Tommy Atkins, Keitt y Vandyke en 1993, y Tommy Atkins, Keitt, Early Gold, James Saigon y Vandyke en 1994, por ser los menos susceptibles a la enfermedad.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Susceptibility of Mango Cultivars (Magnifera indica L.) to the Anthracnose at the Colombian Atlantic Coast</strong></p><p>The use of cultivars showing a good level of toleration or resistance, is a management practice to decrease the incidence of anthracnose in crops of mango. However, it is required to enlarge the test of cultivar s to be able to offer new and larger options to the mango producers. This study was carried out at Caribia, a Research Center (C.I.) of Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria -Corpoica-, located in Sevilla (Ciénaga), departament of Magdalena, Colombia, during the first semesters of 1992, 1993 and 1994 (main harvest time in the Caribean Region). Eleven mango varieties were tested in 1992; fourteen in 1993; and fifteen in 1994, using a completely randomized design with three replications, taking three plant s as experimental unit. The tested parameters, based on weekly lectures, were incidence and se verity of the disease. The statistical analysis showed significant differences among treatments; the results suggest the cultivars Vandyke and Kent in 1992; Tommy Atkins, Keitt and Vandyke in 1993; and Tommy Atkins, Keiit, Early Gold, James Saigon and Vandyke in 1994 as the better options due to this low susceptibility to the anthracnose.</p>

El presente artículo de reflexión tuvo como objetivo describir el uso de las TICS en la enseñanza del alemán como lengua extranjera en la educación superior. Para ello el estudio se enfocó en una revisión documental cuyos autores hicieron énfasis en el uso de las TICS para fortalecer las competencias comunicativas de los estudiantes, como Cariaga (2018), Chao (2014), Hernández (2017), entre otros. En este orden, la investigación, inscrita en el paradigma cualitativo, tuvo entre sus resultados que las TIC´S permiten tanto al docente como al estudiante, tener acceso a diversos materiales y niveles de interacción, ya sea docente- estudiante o estudiantes – estudiantes, lo que sin duda fortalece el proceso de enseñanza – aprendizaje. Asimismo, durante la revisión de la literatura se pudo constatar que el estudio de las herramientas TIC´S a nivel universitario amerita una investigación mucho más detallada y rigurosa, puesto que es un tema con una gran cantidad de matices. * Este artículo se desprende de la tesis de maestría titulada “El uso TIC´S en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje del alemán como lengua extranjera en la universidad del Norte de Barranquilla, Colombia”. Heat and drought are major stresses that significantly reduce seed yield of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). In turn, this affects the profitability of the crop in climatic-vulnerable tropical arid regions, which happen to be the poorest and in most need of legume proteins. Therefore, it is imperative to broaden the sources of heat and drought resistance in the common bean by examining closely related species from warmer and drier environments (i.e., Tepary bean, P. acutifolius A. Gray), while harnessing such variation, typically polygenic, throughout advanced interspecific crossing schemes. As part of this study, interspecific congruity backcrosses for high temperature and drought tolerance conditions were characterized across four localities in coastal Colombia. Genotypes with high values of CO2 assimilation (>24 µmol CO2 m−2 s−1), promising yield scores (>19 g/plant), and high seed mineral content (Fe > 100 mg/kg) were identified at the warmest locality, Motilonia. At the driest locality, Caribia, one intercrossed genotype (i.e., 85) and the P. acutifolius G40001 control exhibited sufficient yield for commercial production (17.76 g/plant and 12.76 g/plant, respectively). Meanwhile, at southernmost Turipaná and Carmen de Bolívar localities, two clusters of genotypes exhibited high mean yield scores with 33.31 g/plant and 17.89 g/plant, respectively, and one genotype had an increased Fe content (109.7 mg/kg). Overall, a multi-environment AMMI analysis revealed that genotypes 13, 27, 82, and 84 were environmentally stable with higher yield scores compared to the Tepary control G40001. Ultimately, this study allows us to conclude that advanced common bean × Tepary bean interspecific congruity backcrosses are capable of pyramiding sufficient polygenic tolerance responses for the extreme weather conditions of coastal Colombia, which are likely to worsen due to climate change. Furthermore, some particular recombination events (i.e., genotype 68) show that there may be potential to couple breeding for heat and drought tolerance with Fe mineral biofortification, despite a prevalent trade-off, as a way to fight malnutrition of marginalized communities in tropical regions.

Realizou-se este trabalho com o objetivo de avaliar a seletividade do herbicida s-metolachlor a cultivares de feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), mediante avaliações realizadas em câmara de crescimento. Os tratamentos foram compostos pelas combinações de seis cultivares de feijão (Carioca, Rudá, Pérola, Jalo Precoce, Vermelho 2157 e Xamego) e de sete doses do s-metolachlor (0,00; 0,48; 0,96; 1,44; 1,92; 2,88 e 3,84 kg/ha). Verificou-se que a única cultivar que não apresentou diminuição da altura de plantas com o aumento das doses do s-metolachlor foi a Pérola, sendo a cultivar Vermelho 2157 a mais sensível. A única cultivar que apresentou redução da biomassa seca da parte aérea de plantas com a aplicação de doses crescentes do s-metolachlor foi a Carioca. Somente as cultivares Carioca e Jalo Precoce mostraram-se suscetíveis ao s-metolachlor, quanto à redução da biomassa seca das raízes. Contudo, a maior redução dessa característica foi observada para a cultivar Carioca. Todas as cultivares apresentaram aumento no nível de sintomas visuais de toxicidade com o aumento das doses do s-metolachlor. As cultivares Carioca e Vermelho 2157 mostraram-se como as mais sensíveis à ação do s-metolachlor, apresentando, respectivamente, aumento de 22,0 e 21,1% nas injúrias das plantas aos 30 dias após a semeadura, a cada 1 kg/ha de s-metolachlor aplicado. As cultivares mais seletivas ao s-metolachlor quanto à exteriorização de sintomas de toxicidade foram a Pérola e a Jalo Precoce.

Photosynthetic responses to daily environmental changes were studied in bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes 'Carioca', 'Ouro Negro', and Guarumbé. Light response curves of CO2 assimilation and stomatal conductance (g s) were also evaluated under controlled (optimum) environmental condition. Under this condition, CO2 assimilation of 'Carioca' was not saturated at 2,000 µmol m-2 s-1, whereas Guarumbé and 'Ouro Negro' exhibited different levels of light saturation. All genotypes showed dynamic photoinhibition and reversible increase in the minimum chlorophyll fluorescence yield under natural condition, as well as lower photosynthetic capacity when compared with optimum environmental condition. Since differences in g s were not observed between natural and controlled conditions for Guarumbé and 'Ouro Negro', the lower photosynthetic capacity of these genotypes under natural condition seems to be caused by high temperature effects on biochemical reactions, as suggested by increased alternative electron sinks. The highest g s values of 'Carioca' were observed at controlled condition, providing evidences that reduction of photosynthetic capacity at natural condition was due to low g s in addition to the high temperature effects on the photosynthetic apparatus. 'Carioca' exhibited the highest photosynthetic rates under optimum environmental condition, and was more affected by daily changes of air temperature and leaf-to-air vapor pressure difference.

Carioca beans will achieve better consumer acceptability if they exhibit high grain quality. The objectives of this work were to identify the visual quality traits that determine consumer choice of carioca beans; to evaluate whether the commercial brands of carioca beans present differences in their technological, cooking and nutritional quality traits; and to select the best commercial brand of carioca beans according to these traits using a selection index. For this purpose, six different commercial brands of carioca beans were evaluated with respect to consumer preference and their grain physicochemical traits. The visual quality traits, colour and grain size, defined the consumer choice of carioca beans. The commercial brands of carioca beans presented differences regarding their technological, cooking and nutritional quality traits. Brand 4 had lighter colour grains (L* = 53.33), a slightly red shade (a* = 6.20), medium-sized beans (27.52 g), an elliptical shape, a semi-full flatness, and a fast cooking time (15 min and 25 s). The brand 4 showed high concentrations of protein, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, zinc and copper, and this sample was the preference of 51.92% of the survey participants. The best commercial brand of carioca beans selected by the selection index was brand 4 for its technological, cooking and nutritional quality traits.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar a eficiência de diferentes métodos, para a obtenção de estimativas dos parâmetros de adaptabilidade e estabilidade de 20 linhagens de feijão, em dois ensaios de valor de cultivo e uso, um com linhagens de feijão do grupo preto e outro do grupo carioca, conduzidos nas três safras tradicionais, em seis municípios do Estado de Minas Gerais, perfazendo 14 ambientes, nos anos de 2002 e 2003. Na recomendação dessas linhagens destacou-se o método de Carneiro, em razão da unicidade da medida de adaptabilidade e estabilidade de comportamento, que englobou os conceitos de adaptação, adaptabilidade e estabilidade, indicando as linhagens Ouro Negro e Vi 5700 (grupo preto) e OP-NS-331, Vi 4899 e Vi 0669 (grupo carioca) como de adaptabilidade geral. As linhagens Valente e VP1, do grupo preto, e OP-S-82, VC2 e OP-S-16, do grupo carioca, apresentaram adaptabilidade específica às condições favoráveis. Nas condições desfavoráveis, destacaram-se as linhagens Vi 5500 e VP5, do grupo preto, e VC4, VC5 e Vi 4599, do grupo carioca.

Regarding the studies about the behavior of the consumer and crisis management reflects the numerous contributions of social sciences and humanities. The connection of these two areas of understandings was possible through the observation of experiences the consumers lived through, during the recent Brazilian aviation crisis, which made it possible to understand the inconstant trust of the executives after the crisis. The dissertation contextualizes how the executives from Rio de Janeiro think and act, compounding an extremely singular vision regarding their perceptions after the Brazilian aviation crisis. To support the field work expost facto, the theoretical reference includes authors linked to the marketing of services, consumer behavior, consumption and citizenship, trust and crisis management. From the economic and business point of view, the organizations understand the relevance of the study regarding trust when confirmed that the consumers want to trust their suppliers and have the expectation that the products, goods and services be unswerving to the ideas and aspirations that are developed in their lives. The elements of trust are classified into: i) factors linked to the authors decision to trust and support the singular mixture of personality, culture and experience; ii) situational factors that have to do with the aspects of specific situations and relationships between the parties. The work demanded: i) exploratory field work, ii) data collection from secondary sources (print and electronic media), iii) official information divulged by the institutions involved, iv) interviews with time sensitive users of a hypothetical deduction character with a qualitative approach, necessary to attract the perspective subjects in the investigation ex-post facto. The Contents Analysis method allowed to understand the world of the significant of the actions and human relations in their overall situation. In exploring a critical situation such as the one faced by the Brazilian aerial blackout , the work witnessed how the aviation crisis, complex and long-lasting, weakened institutions and the consumers belief was greatly affected.
Os estudos sobre o comportamento do consumidor e o gerenciamento de crises refletem as m?ltiplas contribui??es das ci?ncias sociais e humanas. A uni?o destas duas ?reas do conhecimento foi poss?vel atrav?s da observa??o das experi?ncias vividas pelos consumidores na recente crise a?rea brasileira, que permitiu compreender a vari?vel confian?a dos executivos ap?s a mesma. A disserta??o contextualizou o modo como os executivos do Rio de Janeiro pensam e agem, compondo uma vis?o muito singular sobre as suas percep??es ap?s a crise a?rea brasileira. Para ancorar a pesquisa de campo ex-post facto, o referencial te?rico conta com autores ligados ao marketing de servi?os, comportamento do consumidor, consumo e cidadania, confian?a e gerenciamento de crise. Do ponto de vista econ?mico e empresarial, as organiza??es compreendem a relev?ncia do estudo sobre confian?a quando afirmam que os consumidores querem confiar em seus fornecedores, e t?m a expectativa de que os produtos, bens e servi?os sejam fi?is aos ideais e aspira??es que desenvolvem em suas vidas (Roberts, 2005). Os elementos da confian?a se distribuem em: i) fatores ligados ao autor da decis?o de confiar e se ancoram na mistura singular de personalidade, cultura e experi?ncia; ii) fatores situacionais que tem a ver com os aspectos da situa??o espec?fica e do relacionamento entre as partes (Hurley, 2006). O trabalho demandou: i) pesquisa de campo explorat?ria, ii) coleta de dados em fonte secund?ria (m?dia impressa e eletr?nica), iii) informa??es oficiais divulgadas pelas institui??es envolvidas, iv) entrevistas com usu?rios time sensitive de car?ter hipot?ticodedutivo (Foddy, 1993), com abordagem qualitativa, necess?ria para captar a perspectiva dos sujeitos em uma investiga??o ex-post facto (Gil, 1996). O m?todo de An?lise de Conte?do (Bardin, 1977) possibilitou compreender o mundo de significados das a??es e rela??es humanas no seu contexto. This dissertation seeks to analyze the reports about the homicides perpetrated in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the first decade of the twentieth century. With this aim, we will research the main newspapers of the federal capital of the period. In addition, we will collate the newspaper reports with the documents produced by the police and judicial authorities. In this sense, we intend to observe the similarities and disparities among our main sources of research, that is, Rio?s newspapers and criminal processes. To do so, we will analyze the murder of a police soldier in Morro da Favela. In the first place, we will see how the different newspapers reported the conflict involving several public security agents. Next, we will analyze the testimonies of the witnesses and protagonists of his murder.
A presente disserta??o busca analisar as reportagens sobre os homic?dios perpetrados na cidade do Rio de Janeiro na primeira d?cada do s?culo XX. Com este fito, pesquisaremos os principais jornais da capital federal do per?odo. Al?m disso, iremos cotejar os relatos dos impressos com os documentos produzidos pelas autoridades policiais e judici?rias. Nesse sentido, pretendemos observar as similaridades e disparidades entre as nossas principais fonte de pesquisa, ou seja, os jornais cariocas e os processos criminais. Para tanto, analisaremos o homic?dio de um soldado policial no Morro da Favela. Em primeiro lugar, veremos como os diferentes jornais relataram o conflito envolvendo diversos agentes de seguran?a p?blica. Em seguida, analisaremos os depoimentos das testemunhas e protagonistas deste assassinato.

The thesis deals with the influence of international actors in the fight against organized crime. The issue of combating the organized crime is pictured on the case study of Colombia. Colombian organized crime is largely associated with drug trafficking, therefore the thesis concentrates on options for addressing drug problem. USA as the most important market for Colombian drug production is a major ally of Colombia in the fight against drugs. The thesis focuses on the joint policy initiatives of the USA and Colombia to resolve production and drug trafficking. The aim of the thesis is to find out possible solutions to adress drug trade and identify the benefits and shortcomings of antidrug policies for the case study of Colombia.

The research aims to analyze the construction of the public image of President Jo?o Goulart and his government (1961-1964) through the press in Rio de Janeiro - Correio da Manh?, Jornal do Brasil and ?ltima Hora. Three political moments are analyzed that marked different phases and moments of the government: inauguration of Goulart, in 1961; referendum for return of presidentialist regime or maintenance of parliamentary system, in 1963; and reform meeting, in 1964. The aim is to analyze and understand how newspapers elaborated president's public image on political events that had in common the discussion of categories such as democracy, citizenship and popular participation, located in periods of political, economic and military crisis. In this study, when analyzing the journalistic discourses and the changes of opinion of press according to the political events, the importance of production of press in our perception of the social, political and historical reality is considered, determining a look on the past.
A pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a constru??o de imagens p?blicas do presidente Jo?o Goulart e seu governo (1961-1964) atrav?s da grande imprensa carioca ? Correio da Manh?, Jornal do Brasil e ?ltima Hora. Analisa-se tr?s momentos pol?ticos que marcaram fases diferentes do governo: a posse de Goulart, em 1961; o plebiscito pelo retorno do regime presidencialista ou a manuten??o do sistema parlamentarista, em 1963; e o com?cio das reformas de base, em 1964. Trata-se de analisar e compreender de que maneira os jornais elaboraram as imagens do presidente em eventos pol?ticos que tinham em comum a discuss?o de categorias como democracia, cidadania e participa??o popular, situados em per?odos de crises pol?tica e militar, em um contexto maior de crise econ?mica no pa?s. Neste estudo, ao analisar os discursos jornal?sticos e as mudan?as de opini?o dos jornais conforme os acontecimentos pol?ticos, considera-se a import?ncia da produ??o da grande imprensa na nossa percep??o da realidade social, pol?tica e hist?rica, determinando um olhar sobre o passado.

This diploma thesis provides a complex analysis of illicit drug trade in Latin America and Colombia and it describes its causes and trends. It also focuses on evaluation of anti narcotics strategies applied in Colombia. The first part of the thesis describes the illicit drug market and its global character and it concentrates on cocaine market in Latin America. The second part is devoted to Colombia and the historical development of illicit drug trade in said country. It contains analysis of several actors dominating the illicit drug market and of their roles and positions. It also describes anti narcotics policies in Colombia. The last section is an analysis of results and impacts of the policies applied in Colombia. It provides an overview of the current situation in Colombia and possible scenarios of future development of illicit drug trade.

Does participation in microcredit programs lead to the empowerment of women? The answer is not clear-cut, and earlier studies report ambivalent results. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals number 5 argues for the importance of finding paths to empowerment. In order to facilitate women’s empowerment in microcredit scholars suggest the use of a credit-plus approach. The purpose of this paper is to reassess the impact of microcredit by making use of the credit-plus approach of Fundación WWB. The study is based on new primary data collected in a Minor Field Study conducted in Colombia. Through developing and testing three hypotheses I assess the impact on three dimensions of women’s empowerment: economic, social and cultural, and psychological. A mixed method approach of both OLS regressions and semi-structured interviews are applied. The results indicate that a credit-plus approach does increase the positive impact of credit on women’s financial control within the household. Yet, no significant result could be found in the case of decision-making power or self-efficiency. The paper also concludes that non-financial services per se may constitute a way to increase women empowerment.

In this study we explore the present discourses on drugs and drug consumption in Colombia, a country known for its drugs, and foremost its cocaine production. Interviewing and analyzing the statements according to discourse theory made by the professional key actors in the country, the study asserts that three discourses are present in the Colombian context, namely the public health discourse, the deprivation discourse and the pleasure discourse. These discourses, it is demonstrated, view the consumer of psychoactive substances from different perspectives and relate consumption to different causes, consequences and solutions. While the public health discourse is closely connected to viewing the consumer as a sick person, and describes consumption mainly as addiction, the deprivation discourse rather speaks of the consumer as a marginalised person consuming to escape a harsh reality. According to the third perspective, the pleasure discourse, it is focal that the consumption is related to socialising and recreation. In the course of the exploration of this context and its discourses, attention is paid to the fact that the discourses are many times described as being in opposition to one another although the respondents commonly refer to different social classes while describing the consumer and that each discourse this way is related to certain groups in society. This study presents different Colombian perspectives on drug consumption, a so far scarcely researched area in the otherwise so scrutinized drug issue, viewed from a social work perspective.

This dissertation is a feminist de(s)colonial study with rural women in Colombia. It documents and validates the lives, labour and agency of rural women by re-signifying place as a site of resistance and negotiation within a neoliberal context. Descolonialism is not a concrete theory. It is a process that is alive, emphasising the openness of identities, the entanglement of ways of thinking and the notion of feeling-thinking. It is an approach that opens up spaces to think from the localities and social spaces of activism and research. In using descolonialism as the epistemology for this thesis, I implemented a feminist participatory visual methodology, collecting data from two case studies in the towns of Toca and Minca. The case studies involved focus groups that included photo-elicitation interviews with campesina women, as well as the collaborative organisation of two photographic exhibitions where further informal interviews were conducted with the community. Data for the thesis were also generated through in-depth interviews with women activists involved in social movements and organisations focused on rural women in Colombia. Collectively, the data demonstrate that rural women are agents in place, resisting colonial practices such as the impact of climate change, agroindustries, machismo and exploitative tourism. While campesina women experience social inequality, they enact resistance in places such as the home, vereda, and the city, and contest violence against their territories bodies-lands. As such, rural women in Colombia challenge their positioning by hegemonic feminisms and neoliberal projects as lacking agency and in need of saving. The research demonstrates the importance of feminist, feeling-thinking, place-based research to conceptualising the countryside as an embodied relational space constituted by multiplicities and histories. In calling for alliances that trouble neoliberal projects (including academia) I conclude this thesis by stating that there is an urgent need to support autonomy struggles in Colombia, in the context of the critical historical moment after the peace accord signature with the FARC-EP in 2016. Overall, this thesis contributes to the growing literature emerging from the Global South that makes visible and supports the progressive politics and new paradigms that question the colonial bias of hegemonic feminisms and neoliberal projects.

This study examines the semantic extension of mano ‘hand’ and pie ‘foot’ to their contemporary senses of ‘upper limb’ and ‘lower limb’ in Spanish varieties of Antioquia, Colombia. This dialectally idiosyncratic pattern, hitherto unexplained in the literature, is accounted for here as the combined outcome of adult acquisition among various groups. First, Chocoan languages predominating in the region throughout the early colonial period show a congruent pattern in the lexemes for ‘upper limb’ (e.g., Embera Chamí húa) and ‘lower limb’ (e.g., Embera Catío hẽ́ɾṹ), and their speakers plausibly initiated the change via L1 transfer. Chroniclers’ accounts also reveal that Antioquia’s earliest Europeans relied heavily upon enslaved African(-descendants), and records of ships carrying enslaved peoples to the nearby port cities demonstrate that much of the African-born population in 16th-century Antioquia spoke languages with congruent patterns also (e.g., Kikongo kóoko ‘upper limb’ and kúulu ‘lower limb’). It is proposed that adult Spanish learners with these L1s reinforced the innovative variant.

E-mail: catalina.montoyaarenas@upb.edu.co, lina.escobar@upb.edu.co, claudia.ve7@gmail.com Keywords (3-5): Cultural landscape, social management, heritage, spacial transformations, tourism Conference topics and scale: Stages in territorial configuration The historic center of Marinilla, National Monument since 1959, is located sixty minutes from Medellin at San Nicolas Valley. It has exceptional landscape conditions, highly productive lands, and a large percentage of the water reserve that supplies the region and the country, giving the territory an economic center character since the colony. These physical values make part of collective imagination as a recreation area and an opportunity for development in the 1960s, according to the construction of large national infrastructure works. At the same time, it was object of armed conflict in the 1980s and 1990s, and more recently, directly related to the spatial dynamics of the region: unplanned urban expansion, changes in land use and vegetation cover, with effects on the cultural landscape. In a post-conflict situation, the economic strategies of different actors trust on tourism as a social-spatial management strategy to improve the territory. However, the identity of rurality shows spatial imbalances without recognizing elements of historical construction whose legacies must be revealed to ensure equitable development. To do this, we propose an approach from the cultural landscape in a revision of the historical, symbolic and relational transformation through five systems (anthropic, productive, political, symbolic and spatial), analyzing competitiveness, tourism, landscape and social management, in different scales and during three historical moments. Los espacios rurales contemporáneos ya no pueden identificarse y explicarse con los imaginarios ni conceptos que predominaban hasta hace algunas décadas. La reciente transformación social y económica que ha acaecido en ellos, con la incorporación de lógicas urbanas sobre el suelo tradicionalmente agrícola, han venido modificando produciendo nuevas vocaciones, modos de vida y formas físicas en el territorio rural que son el resultado de la imbricación de lógicas urbanas y rurales tradicionales. Si bien esta transformación ha sido reconocida y analizada con cierta profusión desde perspectivas sociales y económicas, la nueva forma física que el territorio adquiere como resultante sintética y objetiva de esos procesos no ha sido rigurosamente estudiada. La presente investigación se enfoca en la descripción de la transformación de la forma física de los municipios Guatapé y El Peñol, que a la luz de la interacción entre valores rurales y urbanos han producido múltiples y diferenciales respuestas físicas en la ordenación y configuración el suelo rural. No obstante se considera que una mirada comparada de diferentes porciones del territorio nos permitiría descubrir tendencias y puntos en común que den cuenta de lógicas físicas generalizables, propias e inherentes existentes en configuración y transformación del espacio rural contemporáneo de ambos municipios. Contemporary rural areas can no longer be identified and explained with visual representations or concepts that prevailed until a few decades ago. The recent social and economic transformation that has occurred in them, with the incorporation of urban logic on the traditionally agricultural land, have been modified to produce new vocations, lifestyles and physical forms in rural territory that are the result of the interweaving of logic urban and traditional rural. While this transformation has been recognized and analyzed with some profusion from social and economic perspectives, the new physical form that the territory acquires as synthetic and objective resulting from these processes has not been rigorously studied. This research focuses on the description of the transformation of the physical form of Guatapé and El Peñol municipalities, which in light of the interaction between rural and urban values have been multiple and differential physical responses in the management and configuration rural land . However it is considered that a comparative look of different portions of the territory allow us to discover trends and commonalities that account for generalizable, own and existing configuration and transformation of contemporary rural areas of both municipalities inherent physical logic.

Assessing the composition of sovereign debt holders is important because investors’ behavior varies according to distinctive components, including shareholders’ preferences, regulatory constraints, and profitability mandates. To study this issue, we examine the determinants of offshore investments of mutual funds and pension funds, which concentrate Colombia’s outstanding sovereign debt. Our results indicate that mutual funds exhibit considerable sensitivity to shocks in global factors, such as the Federal Funds Rate, sovereign risk, and the composition of financial indices. This contrasts with findings among pension funds, for which we detected no statistically significant effects when examining these factors, underlining the differences in foreign investor behavior that could impact sovereign debt flows within emerging markets.

This paper assesses the effects of the Colombian Unemployment Subsidy (US), which includes benefits as well as training for some recipients. Using regression discontinuity and matching differences-in-differences estimators, the study finds that participation in the labor market, earnings of beneficiaries, and household income do not increase, and for some populations decrease during the 18 months after leaving the US program. Enrollment in formal health insurance falls. Effects on male heads of household include reductions in their earnings, decreases in their labor participation, and increases in their unemployment rates. The study also finds a small though statistically significant positive effect on beneficiaries¿ school attendance, but none on their children¿s weight or height at birth. The results are sensitive to the type of training that beneficiaries receive. Overall, the program serves more as a mechanism for smoothing consumption and providing social assistance than for increasing labor market efficiency.

The introduction of mandatory health insurance in developing countries is often questioned because of the difficulties in enrolling self-employed workers, who represent a segment of the labor force that is increasing in size. Partial population coverage, coupled with adverse selection effects, raises serious concerns about the financial viability of social health insurance schemes. Despite these difficulties, an increasing number of developing countries have implemented social health insurance schemes with the aim of attaining universal health coverage and improving access to health services. In Colombia, major health sector reform was launched in 1993 with the extension of mandatory social health insurance as its cornerstone. In this paper, we assess the impact that Colombia¿s health sector reform had on the enrollment of self-employed workers in the social health insurance scheme. We use two national-level Living Standards Measurement Surveys conducted in Colombia in 1997 and 2003, respectively, and find that health insurance enrollment rates among the self-employed increased considerably between the two time periods, although evidence of adverse selection observed in 1997 continued to be present in 2003. We identify several factors that may explain the change in these enrollment patterns, and we discuss measures to combat adverse selection.

En el marco del proyecto del BID “Analysis of the fiscal impact of post-Covid recovery policies in a decarbonization context for the countries of the Andean Region”, el estudio “Bases para impulsar una minería sostenible y responsable: Una ventana para dar un salto de prosperidad en el siglo XXI” buscó, desde una mirada estratégica, generar una primera aproximación hacia una minería sostenible y responsable centrada en la gran y mediana minería metálica, especialmente de cobre, de Colombia y Ecuador. Este tipo de minería se define como aquella que es capaz de generar valor a través de dinámicas de acción colectiva que minimizan los daños ambientales y fortalecen las distintas formas de capital necesarias para crear valor económico, social y ambiental sostenible para las generaciones actuales y futuras. Para lograrlo la minería debe ser capaz de fortalecer el capital creado, tanto humano como natural en las economías mineras y, en particular, el capital existente a nivel de los territorios donde se realiza. La visión subyacente es que al concluir un ciclo minero exploración, desarrollo, operación y cierre la minería deje un legado positivo en términos de mayor capital humano y natural, excluyendo el capital mineral que se extrae y no se renueva.

Varios estudios que examinan el cultivo de la mora en Colombia muestran que esta actividad es realizada por pequeños y medianos agricultores. En muchas regiones constituye una de las principales fuentes de ingresos; generación de empleo rural; oferta de alimento y de agroindustria. En este trabajo se revisaron más de 180 documentos distribuidos entre artículos divulgativos, técnicos y científicos, publicados en boletines, manuales, cartillas, seminarios y cursos; además, resultados de trabajos de investigación, tesis de pregrado y artículos científicos publicados en revistas seriadas e indexadas. Este es resultado de la búsqueda la literatura de la agronomía del sistema productivo de la mora en la red, en la Biblioteca Agropecuaria de Colombia (BAC), en las bibliotecas de de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y en las bibliotecas de los investigadores del CI La Selva de Corpoica. Para analizar la literatura sobre la agronomía y las prácticas de manejo agronómico de la mora (distribución espacial, trazado y siembra, propagación, tutorado, poda, entre otras). Del manejo agronómico se han escrito diversas publicaciones unas más profundas que otras, estas se caracterizan porque para la mayoría de las practicas agronómicas se carece de un sustento que las valide, para los diferentes ambiente y genotipos y muchas de ellas son el resultado de la observación, del sentido común y de adaptación de otro sistema productivo. Esta literatura surge en la década de 50’s, en la de los 70’ se dan las versiones más integrales del sistema productivo y durante la década de los 90’s, es el periodo dorado cuando se consolida y se presentan los trabajos mas completos, aun todavía faltando, la integralidad entre genotipo, ambiente y la interacción entre estos.

El gusano soldado de rayas amarillas es una polilla de la familia Noctuidae, común en Norte, Centro y Sudamérica, y en muchas islas del Caribe. Esta especie había sido reportada en muchos vegetales y otros cultivos incluyen sorgo, soja, remolacha azucarera y tabaco. Las larvas dañan las plantas principalmente por el consumo de follaje. S. ornithogalli puede atacar el cultivo de algodón alimentándose de hojas y estructuras orales. Aunque, en Colombia este insecto es considerada como una plaga secundaria en los cultivos de algodón, en los cultivos de algodón transgénico existe una mayor incidencia de larvas que en los cultivos convencionales. plantas. Además, S. ornithogalli es una de las especies noctuidas de importancia económica en el mundo ornamental cultivos de Colombia, principalmente en el municipio de Rionegro, departamento de Antioquia.

In Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil and Honduras, the tomato borer, Neoleucinodes elegantalis, is the most important fruit-related plague of the Solanaceae family. A suitable molecular characterization using a DNA barcoding system is necessary to clarify different issues inside the taxonomy of Neoleucinodes genus. Additionally, other DNA sequences used for molecular identification and phylogenetics studies, can be implemented to obtain a better understanding of the genetic variability across different animal groups and allows to acquire a enhanced description of the population s genetic variation. The main objectives of this study are: 1. Evaluate the performance of DNA barcoding sequences (COI gen and 18S rDNA gene), in the genetic characterization of populations of N. elegantalis, collected in different wild and cultivated solanaceous plants in Colombia and Ecuador. 2. Determination of possible haplotypes related with each population belonging to this species. 3.Identification of geographical patterns associated with the distribution of this insect.
