Dose response curves to various supplements were established in two pen-feeding experiments (Exp1 and Exp2) with Bos indicus crossbred steers of two age groups (Young, 10–12 months; Old, 33–36 months) fed low-quality tropical grass hays ad libitum. Diets included supplements based on (Exp1) cottonseed meal (CSM; intake (as fed) 0–10 g/kg liveweight (W).day) and a barley mix (Bar; 0–20 g/kg W.day) and (Exp2) a molasses mix (MUP) and a Bar mix, both fed at 0–20 g/kg W.day. Urea was provided with the Bar mixes and urea/copra meal with the MUP mix. Growth rates of Young steers increased linearly with Bar and MUP supplements but asymptotically with CSM whereas those of Old steers increased asymptotically with all supplement types. With supplement intake expressed on a liveweight basis (g/kg W.day), responses were greater for both steer age groups with CSM compared with Bar (Young, P < 0.001; Old, P < 0.01) and Bar compared with MUP treatments (Young, P < 0.01; Old, P < 0.05). Furthermore, Old steers outperformed their Young counterparts with both CSM (P < 0.05) and Bar (P < 0.001) supplements fed in Exp1 and with Bar and MUP supplements (P < 0.01) fed in Exp2. When supplement intake was expressed in absolute terms (kg/day), growth responses were not different between age groups for different supplements except that Old steers had a higher daily W gain on Bar than their Young counterparts (P < 0.05). Intake of hay (W-corrected) was higher for Young compared with Old steers without supplement but was variably reduced for both steer groups with increasing supplement intake. The results of these experiments have implications for supplement formulation for steers at different stages of maturity grazing low-quality forages.

In the research experimental studies of the effect sodium silicate solution (NST) and plasticizer admixtures have on concrete mixture pipe flow velocity and capacity during of the transportation of mixtures with the “S”-type valve concrete pump with two pistons where carried out. The filling time of 0.406 m3 volume foundation blocks forms of concrete mixture at different concrete mix pump supply pressures (25.5 and 68.0 bar) was measured. It was found that the addition to the mixture of NST 0.5% by weight of cement with superplasticizer based on polycarboxylic ethers, increases the flow rate of the mixture in the pipeline, and performance with a lower concrete mix pump supply pressure. With 0.5% NST of the cement mass with lignosulphonate plasticizer and reduced amount of cement in concrete mix, the flowability in pipeline with a low concrete mix pump delivery pressure (25.5 bar) is worse. With 0.5% NST of the cement mass with lignosulphonate plasticizer, using only 0/4 fraction sand, concrete mix transportation in mixture pipeline at low concrete mix pump delivery pressure (25.5 bar) is stopped. When the pump mix feed pressure is increased up to 68 bar, the mixture flows through the pipeline again. The investigation has shown that sodium silicate solution admixture interaction together with different chemical compositions plasticizers affects the mixture flowability in pipes. Santrauka Atliekant eksperimentinius tyrimus nustatytas natrio silikato tirpalo (NST) ir plastiklių poveikis betono mišinio tekėjimo vamzdžiu greičiui, našumui, transportuojant mišinius dviejų stūmoklių su S tipo vožtuvu betono siurbliu. Tyrimo metu matuotas 0,406 m3 tūrio pamatų blokų formų užpildymo betono mišiniu laikas, esant skirtingam betono siurblio mišinio tiekimo slėgiui – 25,5 ir 68,0 bar. Nustatyta, kad įmaišius į mišinį NST priedą 0,5% cemento masės kartu su superplastikliu polikarboksilo eterių pagrindu, pasiektas didesnis mišinio tekėjimo greitis vamzdynu ir gautas didesnis našumas esant mažesniam betono siurblio mišinio tiekimo slėgiui. Įmaišius į mišinį NST priedą 0,5% cemento masės kartu su plastikliu lignosulfonatų pagrindu ir sumažinus cemento kiekį mišinyje, betono mišinys blogai teka vamzdynu, kai betono siurblio mišinio tiekimo slėgis yra mažas – 25,5 bar. Įmaišius į mišinį NST priedą 0,5% cemento masės kartu su plastikliu lignosulfonatų pagrindu ir smulkiuoju užpildu naudojant tik 0/4 frakcijos smėlį, betono mišinys iš viso neteka mišinio transportavimo vamzdynu, esant mažam betono siurblio mišinio tiekimo slėgiui (25,5 bar). Padidinus siurblio mišinio tiekimo slėgį iki 68 bar, mišinys vėl pradeda tekėti mišinio transportavimo vamzdynu. Tyrimai parodė, kad natrio silikato tirpalo priedo sąveika su skirtingos cheminės sudėties plastikliu turi įtakos mišinio tekamumui vamzdžiais.

Abstrak: Peningkatan aktivitas dan pendapatan penduduk, mendorong diperlukannya makanan yang praktis, mudah, cepat cara penyajiannya serta bergizi. Healthy Food Bar (HFB) merupakan produk yang mempertimbangkan nilai gizi yang tinggi dan praktis. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh secara simultan dan parsial variabel dalam marketing mix (atribut produk, harga, saluran distribusi, promosi, orang, proses, lingkungan fisik) serta dalam perilaku konsumen (faktor lingkungan, individu, psikologis) terhadap keputusan pembelian HFB. Hasil penelitian dari 100 responden menunjukan variabel marketing mix (produk, harga, saluran distribusi, promosi, orang, proses, lingkungan fisik) dan perilaku konsumen (faktor lingkungan, individu, psikologis) secara simultan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian produk HFB. Secara parsial variabel marketing mix (produk, harga, saluran distribusi, promosi, orang, proses) dan variabel perilaku konsumen (faktor lingkungan, individu, psikologis) berpengaruh signifikan sedangkan variabel lingkungn fisik berpengaruh tidak signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian produk HFB. Kata kunci : Healthy Food Bar, Marketing Mix, Perilaku Konsumen, Keputusan Pembelian, Regresi Linier Berganda Abstract: The improvement of activity and income the citizen need the practical, easy, fast, and nutritious foods. Healthy Food Bar ( HFB ) is a product that is considered a high nutritional value and practical. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variables simultaneously and partially in the marketing mix ( product attributes , pricing, distribution channels , promotion , people , process , physical environment ) as well as in consumer behavior ( environmental factors , individual , psychological ) to the purchasing decision HFB . The results of the study of 100 respondents showed variable marketing mix ( product , price , distribution channels , promotion , people , process , physical environment ) and consumer behavior ( environmental factors , individual , psychological ) simultaneously significant effect on product purchasing decisions HFB . In partial marketing mix ( product , price , distribution channels , promotion , people , process ) and consumer behavior variables ( environmental factors , individual , psychological ) significantly while the variable physical lingkungn insignificant effect on product purchasing decisions HFB . Carbohydrate sports drinks produce worthwhile benefits to endurance performance compared with noncaloric controls. However, athletes now consume carbohydrate in a range of formats, including gels and bars, but the comparable performance outcomes are unknown. Therefore, the aim of this study was to establish the relative effects of drink, gel, bar, and mixed carbohydrate formats on intense cycling performance. In a treatmentapparent randomized crossover design, 12 well-trained male cyclists completed 4 trials comprising a 140-min race simulation, followed by a double-blind slow-ramp to exhaustion (0.333 W·s-1). Carbohydrate comprising fructose and maltodextrin was ingested every 20 min via commercial drink, gel, bar, or mix of all 3, providing 80 g carbohydrate·h-1. Fluid ingestion was 705 ml·h-1. Exertion, fatigue, and gastrointestinal discomfort were measured with VAS. Performance peak power (SD) was 370 (41), 376 (37), 362 (51) and 368 W (54) for drink, gels, bars, and mix respectively. The reduction in power (-3.9%; 90%CI ±4.3) following bar ingestion vs. gel was likely substantial (likelihood harm 81.2%; benefit 0.8%), but no clear differences between drinks, gels, and the mix were evident. Bars also produced small-moderate standardized increases in nausea, stomach fullness, abdominal cramps, and perceived exertion, relative to gels (likelihood harm 95–99.5%; benefit <0.01%) and drink (75–95%; <0.01%); mix also increased nausea relative to gels (95%; <0.01%). Relative to a gel, carbohydrate bar ingestion reduced peak power, gut comfort, and ease of exertion; furthermore, no clear difference relative to drink suggests bars alone are the less favorable exogenous-carbohydrate energy source for intense endurance performance.

This study aims to explore the inclusion of microfibre in fine recycled aggregate (FRA) mortars under dynamic impact load. A 12-mm-diameter Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) was employed to test the impact of a recycled mortar with a single and hybrid fibre system and to determine potential improvements in its dynamic mechanical properties. In recycled mortar production, two microfibres with different sizes and types, namely, polypropylene and nylon, were added whilst keeping the amount of microfibres at a volumetrical fraction of 0.6%. An impact loading test was conducted by using the striking bar of SHPB at impact speeds of 2, 4 and 6 m/s. The effects of fibre on failure mode, tensile curve, compressive strength and dynamic increase factor (DIF) were then analysed. Experimental findings show that the improved mortar fibre mix has superior quasi-static and dynamic compression power compared with the reference mortar mix. Meanwhile, compared with the single fibre mix, the hybrid fibre mix is more effective in enhancing the dynamic compressive ability of the recycled mortar. The recycled-hybrid-fibre-enhanced mortar showed lower DIF values compared with the reference mortar, and the inclusion of fibre reinforcement can reduce the fragmentation of the recycled mortar mix after being subjected to impact.

Lightweight concrete (LWC) is one of the favourable concrete to be used as it has low density with acceptable high strength, high durability, and toughness. In order to produce LWC, it is required special material such as expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads and steel fiber to be added into the design mix concrete. As known, EPS beads have zero strength. Meanwhile, the significant of steel fiber is to reduce micro and macro crack propagation. Therefore, pull out test were carried out to measure the bond strength between reinforcement bar and three series of concrete mix design which are normal concrete, EPS-LWC and EPS-LWC enhanced with steel fiber. Concrete adhesion and bearing deformation of reinforcing bar against the concrete are the two main mechanisms that influence the strength of bond in the steel reinforced concrete. Deformation will increase when the bonding stress increase. Normal concrete series shows the higher average bonding stress which is 531.22 kPa compared to others series concrete mix. Meanwhile, bonding stress of EPS-LWC mix is 174.54 kPa which is higher than EPS-LWC enhanced with steel fiber mix. Even though the present of the steel fibre can increase the strength of the LWC, but it effects to the bonding strength between reinforcement steel rod and concrete. There are two improtant factor in bonding determination which are volume fraction and aspect ratio of the steel fiber. Segregation will increase when the aspect ratio of steel fiber increased. Besides, the workability becomes low. This present study used types of hooked end steel fiber with 60 mm length and aspected ratio is 0.75. While the size of the cylindrical is 300 mm x 150 mm. The position of the steel fiber in the specimens is too compact and presenting the air voids. Consequently weaken the bonding strength between concrete and reinforcement bar.

Abstract. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of Self-Relevant Value, Quality Value and Perceived Informational Utility on Electronic Word-Of-Mouth Intention moderated by Opinion Leadership in Bombaru Bars and Restaurant Bengkulu, Indonesia consumers. The respondents of this study were 17-45 years old. Respondent data were collected by the survey questionnaire provided. After adopting the listwise deletion method through Mahalanobis Distance on SEM-AMOS, 133 questionnaires that could be used were available for analysis. Data analysis used Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), assessment of normality, and regression weights. The Result indicate that (1) Self-relevant Value has a positif effect on eWOM Intention; (2) Quality Value has a positif effect on eWOM Intention; (3) Perceived Informational Utility has a postif effect on eWOM Intention; (4) Opinion Leadership moderates the influence of Self-relevant Value on eWOM Intention; (5) Opinion Leadership moderates the influence of Quality Value on eWOM Intention; (6) Opinion Leadership moderates the influence of Perceived Informational Utility on eWOM Intention.Keyword: eWOM Intention, Opinion Leadership, Perceived Informational Utility, Quality Value, and Self-relevant Value.

The aim of this paper was to verify hydrological and hydrochemical changes in the Iquiparí Lagoon water column, during three months, as related to an artificial sand bar opening. A drastic reduction in water volume occurred 28 hours after the sand bar opening, exposing the bottom sediment. This was densely colonized by submerged aquatic plants, which were dominant in the ecosystem metabolism, specially near the sand bar. An increase in salinity values, and dissolved and total nutrient concentrations, was observed during the sand bar opening period. In contrast, chlorophyll a concentration decreased. These changes were associated with: 1) mix of remained brackish and marine waters; 2) nutrient release from sediments by physical processes; and 3) submerged plant death. After the sand bar closure, lagoon metabolism was completely regulated by a dense phytoplankton community. We observed that the sand bar opening resulted in an extensile replacement of the lagoon's water and a change in the community mainly responsible for the ecosystem metabolism.

Food is the source from where a person obtains the body’s daily requirements. People’s current daily habits force them to consume fast food, which is known for its poor nutritional and safety features. So, it is urgent to provide a suitable substitution product to solve this issue. The present investigation aimed to produce a bar with a dual function: nutritional and long shelf life. Two materials were chosen to support the bar manufacturing regarding their bioactive contents, barley malt grass (BMG) and pomegranate byproducts (PBD). Chemical composition, antioxidant, and antimicrobial potency were measured. Β-carotene, vitamin C, and tocopherol were determined using HPLC apparatus. Extracts’ bio-safety against cell lines was determined, besides their enhancement against cell-death factors. Simulation experiments were designed to evaluate extracts’ impact to extend bar shelf life. Data represented the richness of essential minerals and fibers. Results of the FTIR reflected the existence of various active groups in the contents. Phenolic fractions of PBD are distinctive for their content of ellagic (39.21 ± 5.42 mg/kg), ferulic acid fractions (31.28 ± 4.07 mg/kg) which is a known with antifungal activity. Extracts and their mix (1:1) represented inhibition zone diameters that reach 15.1 ± 1.66 mm for bacteria and 23.81 ± 1.41 mm for fungi. Extracts were shown to have better safety against the cell line strain of hepatic HL-7702, with an elevation of a harmful dose of aflatoxin (IC50 304.5 µg/mL for PBD, IC50 381 µg/mL for BMG). Sensory evaluation of fortified bars reflected a preferable application of mix (1:1) due to color attributes and panelist evaluations, the same result recorded for simulation studies. The experiment recommended applying a mix (1:1) of BMG: PBD in addition to their extracts (200 mg/kg dough) for functional bar manufacturing with antifungal properties.

A marca Saboaria do Bolhão fabrica Sabão Offenbach, ou Sabão Azul e Branco, como é mais conhecido, desde 1881. Faz parte do Grupo Manuel Serra que se dedica ao negócio do azeite, óleo, vinagre e sabão. Este Plano foi desenvolvido com o intuito de ajudar a Saboaria do Bolhão a atingir os seus objectivos, através do marketing. Para delinear uma estratégia de branding que entregue vantagem competitiva à empresa, aplicou-se uma metodologia que passou por um estudo qualitativo multi-método com uma fase exploratória e descritiva. Neste sentido, foram realizadas dinâmicas de grupo, entrevistas e auditorias, das quais se extraiu informação que permitiu desenhar a Estratégia mais adequada. Com essa informação e com os dados secundários recolhidos, foi possível proceder à Análise Externa e Interna, à Definição de Objectivos e Barreiras, à delineação da Estratégia de Marketing Mix e à Análise de Branding e respectiva Proposição de Valor. Tudo isto foi finalizado com uma Calendarização e Orçamentação que devem servir de guideline à empresa. Todas estas medidas resultam na revitalização de uma marca e de um produto que se tem vindo a demonstrar desadequado aos hábitos presentes. Pretendeu-se fazer renascer o Sabão Offenbach da Saboaria do Bolhão, num novo formato, para um novo segmento e posicionamento e com o nome "Offenbach".
The Saboaria do Bolhão brand produces the Offenbach Soap, best known as Blue and White Soap, since 1881. The Grupo Manuel Serra, to which the Saboaria belongs, is dedicated to the businesses of olive oil, vinegar and soap. The present Plan has been developed aiming to help the Saboaria do Bolhão to accomplish its objectives, through marketing. In order to delineate a branding strategy which delivers competitive edge to the business, we have tried a methodology that includes a multi-method qualitative study, with an exploratory and descriptive stage. That way, we have carried out group dynamics, surveys and audits, from which we have extracted the information allowing a more appropriate Strategy. With that information, and the secondary data gathered, it was possible to establish the External and Internal Analysis and the Definition of Objectives and Barriers, and to delineate the Marketing Mix Strategy and the Branding Analysis, and the corresponding Value Proposition. Finally, we have established the Timetable and the Budgeting that will constitute the business guideline. All these measures will achieve a revitalization of a brand and a product, which are increasingly inadequate to the current consumers'habits. We want the Saboaria do Bolhãos's Sabão Offenbach to reborn, in a new format, to a new segment and positioning, while keeping the «Offenbach» brand.

Магістерська дисертація: 98 с., 49 рис., 30 табл., 32 посилань. Об’єкти дослідження: стрижні, виготовлені із металофосфатних сумішей експериментального складу; виливки із залізовуглецевих сплавів (технологічні проби на пригар та на вибиваємість). Предмет дослідження: пригар на поверхні виливків; шорсткість литих поверхонь; робота вибивання та гігроскопічність стрижневих сумішей. Мета роботи: визначення комплексу робочих властивостей: стійкості до пригару, вибиваємості, а також технологічної властивості – гігроскопічності стрижневих сумішей, які містять зв’язувальні компоненти металофосфатного типу. Методи дослідження: виготовлення спеціального модельного оснащення; виготовлення ливарних форм і стрижнів, плавлення і заливання металу; контроль шорсткості литих поверхонь за еталонами, визначення роботи вибивання та гігроскопічності традиційними методами. Результати дослідження: установлено закономірності утворення пригару залежно від складу стрижневих сумішей та товщини стінок виливка, визначено роботу вибивання та гігроскопічність усіх сумішей. Показано, що стрижні із ряду сумішей можуть бути застосовані без протипригарних покриттів. Значущість роботи: в роботі вперше підтверджено з технологічної точки зору реальну можливість використання стрижневих сумішей з фосфатами кремнію, алюмінію, натрію, калію, марганцю для виготовлення виливків із залізовуглецевих сплавів. Галузі застосування: дрібні ливарні стрижні (масою до декількох кг), які зміцнюються у печі або в нагрітому оснащенні (150…300 ºС, залежно від складу суміші), для виготовлення виливків із залізовуглецевих сплавів. Економічна ефективність – умовний економічний ефект 44 777 грн. Прогнозовані припущення: поступове впровадження стрижневих сумішей, починаючи з цехів із індивідуальним і дрібносерійним виробництвом. Зниження собівартості литва, покращення якості литих поверхонь, санітарно-гігієнічних умов праці, екологічної ситуації.

Subject of research: burns on the surface of castings; roughness of cast surfaces; beating work and hygroscopicity of rod mixtures. Purpose: to determine the set of working properties: resistance to scorching, knockout, as well as technological properties - hygroscopicity of the core mixtures, which contain binders of metal-phosphate type. Research methods: production of special model equipment; production of molds and rods, melting and pouring of metal; control of roughness of cast surfaces according to standards, definition of work of knocking out and hygroscopicity by traditional methods. The results of the research: the regularities of burn formation depending on the composition of the core mixtures and the thickness of the casting walls are established, the work of knocking out and hygroscopicity of all mixtures are determined. It is shown that rods from a number of mixtures can be used without non-stick coatings. Significance of the work: the work for the first time confirmed from a technological point of view the real possibility of using core mixtures with phosphates of silicon, aluminum, sodium, potassium, manganese for the manufacture of castings from ferrocarbon alloys. Areas of application: small casting rods (weighing up to several kg), which are hardened in a furnace or in heated equipment (150… 300 ºC, depending on the composition of the mixture), for the manufacture of castings from iron-carbon alloys. Economic efficiency - conditional economic effect UAH 44,777. Projected assumptions: gradual introduction of core mixtures, starting with shops with individual and small-scale production. Reducing the cost of casting, improving the quality of cast surfaces, sanitary and hygienic working conditions, environmental situation.

Jag söker svaret på frågan om texttrogenhet vid adaption från text till film är önskvärt. Ska man sträva efter att återskapa texten i ett nytt medium, eller ska filmen ses som en ny skapelse?

Det har idag blivit en naturlig reaktion att genast utnämna filmatiseringen till förlorare samtidigt som det länge pågått debatter om huruvida litteraturen kommer att försvinna i skuggan av filmversionerna. Många väljer idag att se filmen istället för att läsa den litterära förlagan.

Efter kortare genomgång av forskning och en studie av två välkända barnböcker har jag fått en djupare förståelse för hur de båda medierna står i förbund med varandra. Text och film är två skilda medium som försöker mötas. Medan text är ett enkelspårigt medium så kan filmen använda sig av många effekter för att visa sin publik vad den vill ha.

Ces dix dernières années, les technologies de stockage non-volatile Flash ont joué un rôle majeur dans le développement des appareils électroniques mobiles et multimedia (MP3, Smartphone, clés USB, ordinateurs ultraportables…). Afin d’améliorer davantage les performances, augmenter les capacités et diminuer les coûts de fabrication, de nouvelles solutions technologiques sont aujourd’hui étudiées pour pouvoir compléter ou remplacer la technologie Flash. Citées par l’ITRS, les mémoires résistives polymères présentent des caractéristiques très prometteuses : procédés de fabrication à faible coût et possibilité d’intégration haute densité au dessus des niveaux d’interconnexions CMOS ou sur substrat souple. Ce travail de thèse a été consacré au développement et à l'étude des mémoires résistifs organiques à base de polymère de poly-méthyl-méthacrylate (PMMA) et de molécules de fullerènes (C60). Trois axes de recherche ont été menés en parallèle: le développement et la caractérisation physico-chimique de matériaux composites, l’intégration du matériau organique dans des structures de test spécifiques et la caractérisation détaillée du fonctionnement électrique des dispositifs et des performances mémoires
Over the past decade, non-volatile Flash storage technologies have played a major role in the development of mobile electronics and multimedia (MP3, Smartphone, USB, ultraportable computers ...). To further enhance performances, increase the capacity and reduce manufacturing costs, new technological solutions are now studied to provide complementary solutions or replace Flash technology. Cited by ITRS, the polymer resistive memories present very promising characteristics: low cost processing and ability for integration at high densities above CMOS interconnections or on flexible substrate. This PhD specifically focused on the development and study of composite material made of Poly-Methyl-Methacrylate (PMMA) polymer resist doped with C60 fullerene molecules. Studies were carried out on three different axes in parallel: Composite materials development & characterization, integration of the organic material in specific test structure and advanced devices and finally detailed electrical characterization of memory cells and performances analysis

Förskolan blir allt mer mångkulturell och många kommuner har tagit bort sina modersmålslärare för att lämna över det ansvaret på förskolans personal. För att få en förståelse för hur förskollärarna tar sig an det uppdraget vill vi ta reda på hur förskollärarna inkluderar barnens etniska bakgrunder i verksamheten. Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur förskollärare definierar och arbetar med att inkludera etnicitet i samlingsstationer utifrån läroplanen för förskolan. Som teoretiska utgångspunkter utgick vi ifrån en socialkonstruktivistisk teori och Goodwins interaktionsanalys för att kunna analysera empirin. Vi har gjort en kvalitativ studie som bygger på intervjuer med förskollärare, observationer med videofilmning samt anteckningar. Det empiriska materialet har samlats in under 30 samlingstillfällen och fyra intervjuer med fyra förskollärare, där vi observerade hur förskollärarna inkluderade barnens olika etniska bakgrunder och hur förskollärarna pratar om inkluderingen. Resultat visade att barnens etniska bakgrunder definieras och arbetas med genom dans, flaggor eller när de ombeds att prata på sitt modersmål. I delar av observationerna kopplas etnicitet till barnen och i andra delar frikopplades etnicitet från barnen. När etnicitet frikopplades från barnen handlade det om att se bortom barnens etniska bakgrunder eller att använda miljön som ett redskap i samlingen. Genom flaggor skedde det kopplingar mellan barnens etniciteter och nationaliteter. This thesis studies the MIT bag-model and derives important equations regarding this model. The masses of the hypothetical glueballs are determined using the MIT bag-model. Five different glueball masses are predicted and the lowest glueball mass is determined to be 0.961 GeV. This is in excellent agreement with similar predictions using the MIT bag-model. Lattice QCD and other nucleon models are compared to the MIT bag-model. Many recent studies using lattice QCD have found the lowest glueball mass to be 1.6 GeV. This result better suits newly discovered glueball candidates, indicating that our calculated mass is to low.
Denna avhandling studerar MIT bagmodellen och härleder relevanta ekvationeri modellen. En massberäkning av de hypotetiska klisterbollarna görs med hjälp av MIT bagmodellen. Fem olika klistebollar beräknas och lägsta klistebollsmassan fåstill 0.961 GeV. Detta är i utmärkt överensstämmelse med liknande studier gjorda med MIT bagmodellen. Lattice QCD och andra nukleonmodeller jämförs med MIT bagmodellen. Många nya studier med lattice QCD har beräknat lägsta klisterbollsmassan till 1,6 GeV. Detta resultat passar bättre in på nyligen upptäckta klisterbollskandidater, vilket tyder på att vår beräknade massa är för låg.

River morphological processes are among the most complex and least understood phenomenon in nature. Recent research indicates that the braiding of marine waterways of the estuary zone occurs at an aspect ratio similar to the alluvial braided river. The instability of complex sporadic fluvial processes at river-sea interface is responsible for bar formation in alluvial as well as in marine waterbodies Due to the lack of knowledge of flow characteristics around bar, the flow structure around the sand bar is analyzed. The bursting events play the crucial role in understanding the fluvial characteristics in the vicinity of submerged structure. The study of bursting events around the mid-channel bar is only done by the present author. The effect of submergence ratio on the turbulence behavior in the proximity of bar is analyzed in this study. The flow turbulence generated by the mid-channel bar is also analyzed in detail. The extreme turbulent burst is segregated from low intensity turbulent events by using the hole size concept. The effect of hole size on the parameter Dominance Function is analysed which is not yet studied by any researcher for mid-channel bar. The Momentum Dominance Function (MDF) parameter increases with increase in the Hole Size. This indicates that the magnitude of upward flux increases with increase in the hole size. The effect of bar height on the turbulent burst which is not yet studied by any researchers is analyzed in the present research. The joint probability distribution of bursting events is modeled using the Gram-Charlier bivariate joint probability function. The joint probability distribution gives the details of probabilistic structure of flow in the vicinity of bar. The effect of bar is predominant only in the lower flow layer. The joint probability distribution graph becomes more eccentric toward the dominant quadrants with increase in the submergence ratio. This indicates that the probability of dominant events further increases with increase in the submergence ratio.

This paper presents a graph synthesis approach to planar N-bar mechanisms with revolute (R), prismatic (P), and RP (pin-in-slot) joints. This novel graph synthesis method extends the enumeration to define the possible topologies for mechanisms with any mix of R-, P-, and RP-joints. Each topology is explicitly defined as a graph which can be viewed and simulated within an online kinematic simulator. This method successfully produces the same number of topologies for 6, 8, 10, and 12-bar revolute joint mechanisms as those shown in the existing literature. It explicitly calculates all topologies for 6, 8, and 10 bars with a mix of the three joint-types.

The construction of cement concrete pavement is a very complex and sensitive process with many factors influencing the quality of concrete and the quality of finished pavement surface. In this paper, the authors presented the construction related issues faced during the construction of a national highway section in India. The major issues discussed are the edge collapse near horizontal curves in winter season in slip form paving method, uneven surface profile caused due to frequent starting and stopping of paver machine due to the difference in the mix delivery speed and the paver speed, the unexpected random cracking in a section of concrete pavement due to the delayed joint sawing, and the insertion marks of dowel bars in the concrete layer to name a few. The range of reasons that lead to theses challenging situations vary from the slope of super elevation to the frequency of vibration used for the dowel bar insertion. To further complicate the construction process, the variability in the quality of cement and super-plasticizer supplied to the construction site necessitate the frequent adjustments in the mix proportions to match the requirements of strength and workability. The selection of joint sawing time is equally difficult with many variables controlling the setting and hardening of concrete mix. The details of the highway section are: concrete layer thickness is 280 mm and concrete mix is of M40 grade, constructed over dry lean concrete sub-base of 150 mm thickness with a 125 microns' thick polythene separation sheet used for de-bonding.

Abstract The two-branch tournament Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a population-based search technique that generates a large number of designs to approximate the Pareto-optimal set of designs for problems with two objectives. The two-branch GA can accommodate problems with a mix of discrete and continuous design variables and problems with discontinuous and/or multimodal objectives. The two-branch GA was applied to several multiobjective structural design problems: a ten-bar truss, Golinski’s speed reducer, a multi-material ten-bar truss, and a stiffened composite panel. Where possible, GA results were compared to traditional multiobjective optimization results. The two-branch GA appears to have advantages over traditional approaches for problems with non-smooth Pareto fronts and / or combined variable types. The studies led to conclusions about the two-branch GA for multiobjective structural design.

Smoke emissions for a Jet Mix flame stabiliser at lean gas turbine combustor primary zone conditions are reported at a 600K operating temperature and 1 bar pressure for kerosene. The influence of pressure loss was studied, this influences the fuel and air mixing and the liquid drop size and hence has an influence on smoke emissions. Two flame stabiliser designs were studied with different fuel and air mixing rates. The results show that even for lean well mixed situations factors that influence local fuel and mixing also influence smoke emissions.

The fluid/structure/thermal interaction as performed in the commercial code fluidyn-CHT consists of coupling the finite volume approach for fluids to the finite element method for structures inside the same solver. Meshes for the two media are independent and boundary conditions are exchanged iteratively until convergence. Thus, the complex response of combined fluid and solid media is solved efficiently. As a typical industrial test case, a thick steel pipe presenting a 90° elbow is modelled. Initially the fluid in the pipe is at a temperature of 423 K and at 157 bar of pressure. At the inlet, two streams enter the pipe at 423 K and 523 K respectively. The fluids start to mix after the elbow. As a consequence, the thermal load exerted on the structure result in a deformation of the structure at the elbow. This deformation could end up in a catastrophic failure.

Abstract Dilution of natural gas fuel with air for use in a pilot ignited direct injection natural gas engine was investigated to evaluate the impact of this strategy on emissions and engine performance. A representative heavy-duty mode (mid to high-load at medium speed) was considered and the equivalence ratio (Φ) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) rates were varied from this representative mode. Air dilution resulted in a significant reduction in several pollutants: 90 to 97% reductions in black carbon particulate matter, 45 to 95% reductions in carbon monoxide, 68 to 85% reductions in total unburnt hydrocarbons. NOx emissions were found to increase by between 1.5 and 2.5x, depending on Φ and EGR, for a fixed combustion phasing. Beyond the emissions improvements, the gross indicated thermal efficiency increased by 2.5 percentage points at both high and low EGR rates. At higher EGR rates, this improvement was due to improved combustion efficiency, while the mechanism for efficiency improvement at lower EGR rates was unclear. The application of air-fuel dilution requires compressed air (&gt; 300 bar) to mix with natural gas at high pressures. A system level analysis considered the compression power required by an industrial 3-stage reciprocating compressor and indicated that the gross indicated thermal efficiency improvements could compensate for the compression requirements for engine operation at high Φ.

In this paper, we examine and evaluate candidate articulated leg-wheel subsystem designs for use in vehicle systems with enhanced uneven-terrain locomotion capabilities. The leg-wheel subsystem designs under consideration consist of disk wheels attached to the chassis through an articulated linkage containing multiple lower-pair joints. Our emphasis is on creating a design that permits the greatest motion flexibility between the chassis and wheel while maintaining the smallest degree-of-freedom (d.o.f.) within the articulated chain. In particular, we focus our attention on achieving two goals: (i) obtaining adequate ground clearance by designing the desired/feasible motions of the wheel axle, relative to the chassis, using methods from kinematic synthesis; and (ii) reducing overall actuation requirements by a judicious mix of structural equilibration design and spring assist. We examine this process in the context of two candidate designs — a coupled-serial-chain configuration and four-bar-configuration — for the articulated-leg-wheel subsystem. The performance of planar variants of these designs, operating in the sagittal plane, is evaluated and representative results are presented to highlight the process.

“SHINKANSEN” is the network of high speed railway lines in Japan. The ITOIGAWA region of western Japan is the area where the HOKURIKU SHINKANSEN is in closest proximity to the Japan Sea coast. In this area, degradation and repair of many structures occur due to salt damage. Japan has never constructed SHINKANSEN structures requiring 100-year-durability in such a corrosive area. Therefore, severe salt corrosion prevention measures are adopted in this area, compared with normal structures. In this paper, we will first show the deterioration of structures due to salt damage. We will then introduce salt corrosion prevention measures adopted for structures in the ITOIGAWA region. As premises for not getting rusted for reinforcing bar in the concrete until after 100 years, the special concrete mix and use of cement were determined. On the other hand, salt corrosion prevention measures for the structures were adopted using three methods. These were adopted for each section taking into consideration the issue of cost. At the end, quality control during construction is stated.

Fretting-wear is a known problem in steam generator U-tubes. These tubes are supported by flat bars called anti-vibration bars (AVB) in the plane of the U-bend. Clearances between the tubes and the bars are designed to be minimal, but cumulative tolerances and manufacturing variations may lead to clearances larger than expected. Large clearances may result in ineffective support leading to in-plane and out-of-plane motion causing fretting-wear and impact abrasion. In the present work, the problem is investigated with a single two span tube, an anti-vibration bar at mid-span and a local excitation force. The dynamic behavior of a tube with simple supports at both ends and an anti-vibration bar at mid-span is characterized. The influence of clearance, preload and tilt of the support on the dynamics of the tube are investigated experimentally. The results indicate that the fretting-wear work-rate is very low with preloads, reaches a maximum around a zero clearance and diminish again for larger clearances. The tilt of the anti-vibration bar in our experiments seems to change the dynamic behavior of the tube.

Abstract In this set of experiments, the versatility of the University of Kent's light gas gun was utilised to obtain a selection of corroborative data regarding the formation and impact of metallic gunshot residues onto high purity silicon wafers. The results from the two experiments are presented. The first experiment investigated how the formation of metallic residues varied as gunshot residue analogues traversed through air under a range of pressures from 0.056 millibar (5.6 Pa) to 1 bar (100 kPa), using solely the energy released during primer ignition; the second involved firing a metallic powder mix of pre-determined composition (via a split-sabot) under vacuum at two velocities- 500 ms-1 and 2000 ms-1. This ensured that there was no ignition or heating of the powders, unlike the first experiment, and so the morphology of the particles collected would be solely due to impact. The residues on the substrates were then analysed using a cold Field Emission Gun Scanning Electron Microscope (FEG) and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) detector. By separating the ignition process of the primers from the residue impacts, it allows for a closer look into the formation of these particles and helps determine whether their varied morphologies are due to the heating caused during the activation and combustion of the primer or whether its due to impact melting. This information can aid in the understanding of metallic particle formation in different pressure environments and give insight into the physical state of firearm residues when they impact a surface. Hydrocode modelling was also incorporated to corroborate the results observed during these experiments and gave results which mimicked the experimental data.

Mit der Eröffnung des Flughafens BER im Oktober 2020, dem Bau der Gigafactory von Tesla in Grünheide und der Microvast-Batteriefabrik in Ludwigsfelde beginnend im Sommer 2020 sind deutlich Signale für den Beginn einer neuen Phase der Entwicklung der Flughafenumfeldregion erkennbar. Konzeptionell begleitet wird dieser Prozess zunächst durch die Fortschreibung des Gemeinsamen Strukturkonzeptes der Flughafenregion. Sie wurde von der Kommunalen Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dialogforum Airport Berlin Brandenburg (KAG DF) im Jahr 2019 beauftragt und soll voraussichtlich im April 2021 abgeschlossen und bestätigt werden (vgl. Dialogforum-BER, 2020). Hinzu kommen die Grundlagenermittlung Verkehr Flughafenregion BER, die mit dem Bericht vom August 2019 abgeschlossen wurde, sowie der Dachmarkenprozess „Entwicklungsstrategie und Dachmarkenkonzeption für die Technologie- und Wissenschaftsregion Zeuthen – Wildau – Königs Wusterhausen“, der im Jahr 2019 begann und dessen Ergebnisse im Sommer 2020 veröffentlicht wurden. Schließlich beauftragte das Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur des Landes Brandenburg die Technische Hochschule Wildau Ende 2019 mit der Analyse der Flughafenumfeldregion BER, für die die Frage nach der Beschaffenheit und Ansätzen einer Stärkung des Wissenschafts- und Technologiepotenzials der Region leitend war. Mit der Analyse sollten die Perspektiven verschiedener Akteur/innen, insbesondere aus den Bereichen Wirtschaftspolitik und Wirtschaftsförderung sowie Wissenschaft, auf die Region erhoben, aktuelle Projekte gesichtet und der Stand von Entwicklungsvorhaben, die mit der Entwicklung der Region in Zusammenhang stehen, ermittelt werden.

This assessment focuses on describing urban tree canopy (UTC) within the Urban Development Boundary of Miami-Dade County, as defined by the Miami-Dade County Transportation Planning Organization (Figure 1). The area (intracoastal water areas excluded) encompasses approximately 1147 km2 (443 mi2). A combination of remote sensing and publicly available vector data was used to classify the following land cover classes: tree canopy/shrubs, grass, bare ground, wetland, water, building, street/railroad, other impervious surfaces, and cropland.

In the Common Eider Somateria mollissima, only females incubate the clutch over a period of 25–28 days. Determining their schedule of nest absence, how long they are away, how often, and where they go can be problematic. They must also avoid nest predation while tending to their own needs. We used geolocators to investigate the behavior of incubating females on forested islands in Dolgaya Guba Bay (65°03′N, 035°47′E), White Sea, Russia. Data were obtained for 12 females: three in 2015 and 2016, four in 2017, and two in 2018. During the entire incubation period, females left their nests for the sea 12–28 times. The average duration at sea was 331.0 ± 53.8 min, including 261.1 ± 47.9 min during the darkest hours in otherwise 24-hour daylight. The patterns are similar to those of eiders nesting in lower, nonpolar latitudes, where nights are dark.

The rate of fatalities at signalized intersections involving heavy vehicles is nearly five times higher than for passenger vehicles in the US. Previous studies in the US have found that heavy vehicles are twice as likely to violate a red light compared with passenger vehicles. Current technologies leverage setback detection to extend green time for a particular phase and are based upon typical deceleration rates for passenger cars. Furthermore, dilemma zone detectors are not effective when the max out time expires and forces the onset of yellow. This study proposes the use of connected vehicle (CV) technology to trigger force gap out (FGO) before a vehicle is expected to arrive within the dilemma zone limit at max out time. The method leverages position data from basic safety messages (BSMs) to map-match virtual waypoints located up to 1,050 ft in advance of the stop bar. For a 55 mph approach, field tests determined that using a 6 ft waypoint radius at 50 ft spacings would be sufficient to match 95% of BSM data within a 5% lag threshold of 0.59 s. The study estimates that FGOs reduce dilemma zone incursions by 34% for one approach and had no impact for the other. For both approaches, the total dilemma zone incursions decreased from 310 to 225. Although virtual waypoints were used for evaluating FGO, the study concludes by recommending that trajectory-based processing logic be incorporated into controllers for more robust support of dilemma zone and other emerging CV applications.

Der Verzicht auf Kernkraftwerke und der Ausbau von Solar- und Windenergie führen dazu, dass die Stromproduktion volatiler wird. Damit Strom dann zur Verfügung steht, wenn er gebraucht wird, braucht es neue Speichersysteme. Eine vielversprechende Technologie ist die adiabatische Druckluftspeicherung. Sie nutzt überschüssigen Strom aus Solar- und Windanlagen, um Umgebungsluft zu komprimieren und diese in einem unterirdischen Hohlraum zu speichern. Bei Bedarf wird die komprimierte Luft wieder expandiert; sie treibt dabei eine Turbine an und erzeugt wieder Strom. Da die bei der Komprimierung entstandene Wärme genutzt wird, beträgt die Effizienz 65 bis 75 Prozent; das ist ein ähnlicher Wert wie jener, den Pumpspeicher erreichen. Auch die Umweltverträglichkeit von Druckluftspeichern ist, gemessen am Treibhausgaspotenzial und an Schäden an Ökosystemen, vergleichbar mit jener von Pumpspeichern. Druckluftspeicher sind technisch machbar. Wichtige Komponenten wie Turbomaschinen und Wärmespeicher sind entweder bereits auf dem Markt erhältlich oder wurden in einer Pilotanlage erprobt. Der Bau von Hohlräumen ist zudem durch die Erfahrungen im Tunnel- und Kavernenbau ausgereift. Adiabatische Druckluftspeicher sind also eine effiziente, umweltverträgliche und technisch machbare Speicherlösung. Wegen der hohen Kapitalkosten sowie der unklaren wirtschaftlichen und rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen ist allerdings ungewiss, ob sie wirtschaftlich sein können. Dies erschwert auch die Finanzierung einer Demonstrationsanlage.

Following the construction of the railroad causeway in 1959, a perennial halite (NaCl) bottom crust has been known to exist in the north arm (Gunnison Bay) of Great Salt Lake, Utah, but the lake conditions controlling accumulation or dissolution of the crust are not well defined, including how depth-controlled chemodynamic and hydrodynamic factors influence the degree of the halite saturation. Immediately prior to the opening of a new bridge in the causeway in early December 2016 when north arm lake elevation was at a historical low (just above 4189 feet), the north arm lake brine was at halite saturation. After the opening, inflow of less saline south arm water mixed with north arm water, raised lake elevation, and diluted the north arm lake brine to undersaturation with respect to halite. The following five years have resulted in annual and seasonal fluctuations of halite saturation states. Beginning in mid-2019, the Utah Geological Survey began a study of the north arm to better understand and document the transitions of halite saturation state following the bridge opening using newly collected data as well as reviewing available past data.
