Many theoretical and methodological efforts have been made to extend the disciplinary field of architecture and urbanism from the urban in the traditional sense to the larger territorial scales of contemporary urbanisation. This paperdiscusses the ways of studying the dispersed and polymorphic urban form that still needs to be understood. The discourse is developed around the situated learning model adequate for understanding the planetary urbanisation theory and the dispersed city. The learning model is applied inside the Urbanisation in the Western Balkan Countries course at the master's studies in Architecture and Urbanism (University of Banja Luka). The situated learning model engages students in the research of real-life context, culture and situation, and therefore, connects the theories of large-scale urbanisation with the inquiry about familiar space. Furthermore, the learning approach advocates an inquiry-based strategy to learning about urbanisation and a dispersed urban form in theoretical courses. The course employs the techniques typically taught in design studios, such as mapping, collage imagery and three-dimensional modelling. The paper could contribute to the considerations on the education of architects as professionals that will deal with the growing scales of contemporary urbanisation, specifically in the Western Balkan countries..

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é analisar as características do sistema de saúde e de vigilância e as medidas adotadas no enfrentamento à pandemia de COVID-19 na Nova Zelândia entre março de 2020 e dezembro de 2021. Revisão integrativa de literatura em que foram incluídos 29 artigos, além da consulta aos sites da OMS, do Banco Mundial e Our World in Data sobre a situação sociodemográfica e econômica do país, bem como testes, óbitos, vacinas e casos novos. Os dados foram importados em formato CSV, e os gráficos, elaborados no software RStudio. As evidências apontam que a Nova Zelândia pode ser considerada um caso de sucesso na resposta à pandemia de COVID-19, sendo um dos países com menor número de óbitos pela doença no mundo. Esse sucesso foi resultado de uma organização do sistema de saúde com rápida ação interna, elevada capacidade de testagem, rastreamento dos contatos, sem chegar ao colapso do sistema de saúde em 2020 e 2021. Apontou também que a população aderiu às condições de confinamento e seguiu as recomendações das autoridades, ainda que com baixa participação da comunidade nas decisões de governo. Há lições importantes que podem ser recomendadas e úteis para uma potencial nova epidemia com vírus desconhecido ou pandemias semelhantes.

En México los prestadores de los servicios públicos de agua potable y saneamiento a nivel municipal cuentan con el sustento legal para definir el esquema de gestión con el que asumirán la provisión. Desde los ochenta, del siglo pasado, estos modelos se han concentrado en públicos, privados y mixtos, estos últimos influenciados por la ola neoliberal. El presente documento tiene por objetivo explorar el modelo de corporatización del agua para el caso mexicano, es decir, empresa pública con comportamiento privado, tomando como unidad de análisis el Sistema de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado de León (SAPAL), Guanajuato. Bajo los enfoques de corporatización del agua y ambientalismo de mercado, y con una metodología mixta, revisión hemerográfica y una exploración descriptiva-relacional de la información físico-comercial del organismo operador, se determina una gestión corporatizada del agua de tipo neoliberal por parte del SAPAL. Se concluye que esta modalidad ha sido deliberadamente construida, enfocada en la expansión del mercado y la acumulación de capital, esto a pesar de que su carácter público la vincula con el bienestar social enmarcado por el derecho humano al agua.

Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oíza was perhaps the greatest architect of the twentieth century in Spain, and his masterpiece was the Banco de Bilbao Headquarters, located in the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid (Spain). Sáenz de Oíza was a university professor in the Installations and Energy Areas at the University of Madrid. For him, concepts such as indoor comfort, lighting, heat production, cooling, and solar houses were an indispensable part of the student's learning and, of course, he included them in his building design. He applied these concepts in the Banco de Bilbao Headquarters. Therefore, the purpose of this paper will be to examine the Banco de Bilbao technical knowledge in depth—including its passive architectonical design—and to present the main good decisions (and mistakes) of this first low-energy Spanish building after almost 30 years of intensive use, to extend its lessons for future buildings.

A pesar de las diversas publicaciones que explican teóricamente el enfoque Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU), el docente carece de información sobre cómo implementarlo en la realidad del aula. Además, esta aplicación es mucho más compleja en actividades deportivas no tradicionales, como la vela, que también es susceptible de ser enseñada bajo el enfoque TGfU debido a la relevancia del componente táctico. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue presentar una propuesta práctica sobre la implementación del enfoque TGfU en vela. Para el diseño de las sesiones se tendrá en cuenta la alineación entre a) características del contexto de aplicación; b) contextualización de la enseñanza de cada contenido en un principio táctico; c) contenidos a enseñar diferenciando entre los tácticos y técnicos; d) número de participantes; e) espacio para la realización de cada tarea; y f) modificaciones introducidas para alcanzar el objetivo de cada sesión. Además, cada una de las sesiones se dividirá en cinco fases: “forma de regata”, “enseñanza para la comprensión”, “habilidades para el desarrollo técnico”, “vuelta a la forma de regata” y “reflexión y conclusión”. La última fase antes de la aplicación de las sesiones será el entrenamiento práctico del profesor. Con la aplicación del enfoque, se espera que los discentes obtengan mejoras a nivel cognitivo, sean más autónomos y estén más motivados por la práctica de la vela.Abstract: Despite several publications that theoretically explain Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU), teachers do not have information about how to implement it in the class. Furthermore, its application is much more complex in non-traditional sports-games, as sailing, which could potentially be taught through TGfU due to the importance of the tactic component. The aim of the present work was to present a practical proposal upon the implementation of TGfU in sailing. In order to design the lessons, teachers should take into consideration the alignment of: a) context characteristics; b) teaching contextualization of each content under tactical principles; c) technical and tactical contents; d) number of sailors; e) practice area for each task; and f) modifications made to achieve the goal of each lesson. Beyond that, each lesson should be divided in five stages: “race form”, “teaching for understanding”, “drills for skill development”, “return to race form”, and “review and closure”. The last phase prior to the carrying out of the lessons should focus on teachers’ practical training in sailing. With the application of this approach, we hope that learners will improve at a cognitive level, in terms of autonomy and motivation.

It is critical that the aspiring banjo player strongly wants to learn to play. This has been true for almost 200 years. Few read music and the few who do did not use that skill to learn how to play. The majority of learning occurred “by ear” in person-to-person encounters, usually a family member, friend, or acquaintance. Most have good musical “ears.” All listened to other banjo players and tried to “pick up” something. A small number also had formal lessons for a time.

Sería difícil negar la enorme influencia que Lessing ejerció sobre Kierkegaard. Pero ningún lector negará que el Post scriptum conclusivo no científico a las «Migajas filosóficas» está impregnado de las ideas y del espíritu de Lessing. En este libro se explicitan las proximidades o las afinidades electivas que unen al Aufklärer del siglo XVIII (1729-1781) con el pensador religioso de Copenhague (1813-1855). Un lector atento, que recorriese los libros y los Diarios de Kierkegaard, desde el inicio, se sorprendería con la cantidad de veces en que Lessing es citado u ofrece epígrafes para tantos textos del danés. Pero, si Lessing recibe el apodo —por parte de Kierkegaard, bajo el seudónimo Climacus— de «polymetis Odiseus», aquel Ulises de tantas facetas, que sabía resolver tan diversas situaciones; entonces, debemos distinguir, en este autor que apreciaba las distinciones, aspectos más constitutivos para el pensamiento de Kierkegaard que sean de importancia para los días en que vivimos (o, al decir de Kierkegaard, para nuestro tiempo [vor Tid]). Para nosotros, son instigadores los descubrimientos de las relaciones entre estos dos autores, del siglo XVIII y del XIX; pero, al público en general, lo que le interesa es la relevancia de sus ideas para los días de hoy, del siglo XXI y, por qué no, los días de un papa Francisco, Obispo de Roma.

Reading and writing statistics can be part of children's early literacy experiences. With that in mind, we saw in work with the Dollar Street database, the possibility of multivariate data readings with 7- and 8-year-olds. We aim to find in this tool, statistical teaching alternatives that make sense to students, contributing to the reading and expression of the world and its statistical disposition. The research data was produced from video-recording of lessons and analysis. Listening to what kids think and participating in their discoveries with Dollar Street helped us understand their relationship with multivariate data and see how they can recognize themselves in the data, identify their place in the world, and create statistical provisions. Ler e escrever estatísticas pode fazer parte das primeiras experiências de alfabetização das crianças. Pensando nisso, vimos no trabalho com o banco de dados Dollar Street, a possibilidade de leituras de dados multivariados com crianças de 7 e 8 anos de idade. Objetivamos encontrar nessa ferramenta, alternativas de ensino de estatística que façam sentido aos estudantes, contribuindo para a leitura e expressão do mundo e sua disposição estatística. Os dados da pesquisa foram produzidos a partir de vídeo-gravação de aulas e análise. Ouvir o que as crianças pensam e participar de suas descobertas com o Dollar Street nos ajudou a entender sua relação com os dados multivariados e ver como elas podem se reconhecer nos dados, identificar seu lugar no mundo e criar disposições estatísticas.

Few commercial banks have engaged in profitable microfinance lending despite repeated attempts by donor agencies to entice their entry. The case of Banco de la Empresa, a Latin American private bank, illustrates how penetration of the microenterprise market segment could evolve. This paper reviews the bank's experience with microfinance, what its motivations were for starting such a program, what adjustments it made in operating procedures and what risks the program faced. The study is based on a real experience of the Inter-American Development Bank but in order to preserve the confidentiality of the institution studied, names, dates and other non-critical data were changed.

Over the past 30 years, monetary and macroprudential policy in Colombia evolved towards the pursuit of a low and credible inflation target and a stable financial system. The protracted inflation that began in the early seventies was defeated at the turn of the century with the help of the new framework for monetary policy formulation, inflation targeting. In the field of macroprudential policy, the financial crisis of the late nineties led to important institutional developments in the formulation and coordination of macroprudential policy, as well as in the assessment of systemic risk. Along with these developments, important lessons have been learnt. One is that, to preserve macroeconomic stability, the price stability objective must be complemented with the financial stability objective, as well as with macroprudential policy. Another lesson is that the new institutional framework for monetary policy formulation helped Banco de la República overcome 25 years of inflation, then called moderate inflation. The challenges for the future include to continue preserving price and financial stability, strengthening the role of the Banco de la República in macroprudential policy, and to continue strengthening the channels of international coordination and cooperation in macroprudential policy.

Inflation would peak in March and start to gradually decline as of the second quarter of 2023, bringing inflation back to the 3% target over the next two years. • In March 2023, inflation continued to increase, reaching 13.3%. This increase is mainly explained by higher-than-expected growth of perishable food prices, a demand that remains persistently strong, the high inflation of 2022 being used in many cases to calculate price adjustments in 2023, and the aggregate effects of exchange rate increases in recent months, among others. • Starting in the second quarter, inflation would begin to fall and this decline would continue over the next two years. This would occur as food price increases gradually abate, exchange rate pressures on prices would moderate, and import logistics costs and prices of imported inputs, goods and food would continue to temper. • Several factors support this expected inflation decline, including lower cost increases measured by the producer price index, decreases in certain measures of inflation expectations of financial market operators or those who monitor the behavior of the economy, and lower observed increases in food prices. • The cumulative monetary policy interest rate adjustments will contribute to lower excess spending and reduce inflation. The economy would maintain the high levels of activity already achieved, albeit with lower growth rates, which would contribute to reducing inflation. • The economy is growing at a lower pace than in the previous year, which is normal after two years of rapid growth that led to high output levels and a significant decline in the unemployment rate, which is at its lowest level since 2018. • The current high production levels are the result of high spending by both households and businesses (consumption and investment). This spending is excessive relative to the country's income, reflected in the strong growth of imports and the large external deficit seen in 2022. • The technical staff forecasts economic growth of 1% in 2023 and 1% in 2024, mainly due to moderate consumption and investment. • These low growth rates would lessen inflation and the external deficit over the next two years. A heightened policy interest rate is required to ensure price stabilization and contribute to the sustainable growth of the Colombian economy. • Accordingly, Banco de la República has adjusted its monetary policy interest rate in response to the high demand and inflation. • From September 2021 to April 2023, the Board of Directors raised the monetary policy interest rate from 1.75% to 13.25%.
