Value education is inextricably linked to every step of our life. It helps in the manifestation of the personality and character of an individual and makes a good citizen. Citizens with values produce a peaceful society. But the question arises how values can develop? Usually, educational institutes are one of the platforms where values are being imparted among the students which are really important. The purpose of the article is to understand the importance of scriptures for the development of human values. Various scholars have mentioned that scriptures increase positivity among the individual. The ancient scriptures like Bhagavat Gita, Upanishad and Patanjali Yoga Sutra, etc. rightly indicating the way of inculcating values. The scriptures knowledge awaken humanity within children, show the right path in life, make them honest, hardworking, courageous, and remove violence from society, establish peace, and remove the religious bigotries. Therefore, need to understand ancient scriptures and incorporate it into our educational curriculum.

Characterizing the ancient aesthetics, we adhere to the moral approach of the correlation of aesthetic and moral categories, which allows us to reveal the logic of the development of the relationship between aesthetics and morality. In our study, an attempt has been made, in general terms, to consider the development of aesthetics not as the evolution of concepts, terms, theories, but as an essential factor in the development of morality, morality, ethics, how the understanding of beauty, beauty and harmony in art determined a person's perception of himself and the essence of his actions.

The attitudes of the ancient Greeks towards their material culture—so far as we can discover from their writings—was rather different from that of most modern students of the remains of classical antiquity. The Greeks esteemed gold and silver vessels, while many archaeologists still believe that they preferred painted pottery. This reversal of classical values came about through the entry of Utopian ideals into the mainstream of classical scholarship in the 18th century. Laudable in themselves, these ideals have led to a serious misunderstanding of the role of ceramic in antiquity. Prices for painted pottery were extremely low and it can hardly have been the vehicle for what the Ancients would have considered to be ‘Art’. It is ironic that the classical tradition has been subverted by many of those charged with the scholarly interpretation of the classical past.

The numeral is an important object of study in linguistics and serves as a basis for demonstrating the cultural values, thinking and history of a nation. Each number conveys ancient cultural value, superstitions, cultural taboos and symbolic meaning through the conceptual system of language and linguocultural units. Since numbers have become the most important object in linguistics, these numbers with linguistic and cultural codes should be explored more through the conceptual system of language. The numbers include metric vocabulary, quantitative and numbering vocabulary. Moreover, numbers can be considered as the bearers of cultural information. Having learned the cultural meaning of numbers, one can get acquainted with traditions and ancient customs of a nation and their beliefs. This article draws attention to the most valuable information about numbers, starting with “1” and further about the culture, superstitions and ancient culture of people. The importance of studying phraseological unities with numbers from an ethnocultural point of view is also shown.

By approaching the book of Jonah historical-critically, it has been indicated that the book of Jonah likely dates to the Persian Period (more neutrally the post-exilic period), is a parody on the prophetic traditions, and has a unified structure. It has been proposed by some that the book of Jonah was written for the Yehudite elite, as a meant, by the author, for his audience to reflect critically on themselves. When a literary-exegetical analysis was conducted of the book of Jonah, it was indicated that the author of the book employed various literary and stylistic techniques that contributes to the unified structure of the book of Jonah. It has also been indicated that all the prayers in the book is poetry, and serves to pause the narration, and are employed to emphasise their content. The author also inverts the typical Ancient Near Eastern values in his characterisation of the role players to thwart the reader's typical expectations of each. The application of social-scientific criticism then supports the theory that the book of Jonah is indeed a parody, and that its main theme in the book of Jonah relates to the compassion and mercy of Yahweh/God which outweighs his desire to destroy the inhabitants of Nineveh and their animals, and appears to be conditional, as repentence is a requirement.

This study will explore the similarities and differences between Alcibiades and Nicias’ speeches to the Athenian Assembly in 415 BC and Secretary Hillary Clinton and President Donald J. Trump’s first presidential debate in 2016. The ancient speeches were regarding the Sicilian Expedition, while the modern speeches focused on each candidates’ foreign policy plan regarding Syria and the Islamic State (IS). Despite the near 2,500-year difference between these two democracies, there are striking similarities between the ways their governments are structured as well as the values they uphold. I explore the significance of the fact that the Athenians and the modern-day Americans have two ostensibly functioning democracies yet the candidates whom they elected and the subsequent results were disadvantageous for the long-term sustainability of their countries. I will look at the differences between the expectations of the democratic institutions and what the outcomes of the debates were. Additionally, I compare the differences between the Athenian democracy and the American democracy.

Understanding illness and health care in the ancient world, and especially within ancient Israel, is not an easy undertaking. Most of the research done on Israelite health care focuses on the identification of disease rather than their sociological implications. This study hypothesises that to truly understand ancient Israel’s thoughts on illness and health care it is important to take the wider social context, in which a sick person would have found himself, into account. This study analyses the illness of King Uzziah (2 Chronicles 26:11-23) against the backdrop of the ancient Near East’s understanding of illness and health care, Israel’s view of Yahweh’s role in illness, as well as the interwovenness between illness and the social values of honour and shame. The notions of purity and impurity and the role they played in Israel’s understanding of illness, as well as the role of the temple and other consultative options are also taken into account in the study. In so doing the study intends to shed some light on the interwovenness between illness and social values in ancient Israel and thus enabling a better understanding of 2 Chronicles 26:11-23 and illness and health care in ancient Israel. This collection of essays addresses the history of Numic-speaking American Indians of the Great Basin–Colorado Plateau–Mohave Desert area since these lands passed into the sovereign control of the United States after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848. The goal of this study is to revisit historical processes and events that transformed the lives of these Americans so profoundly that their effects are still being felt today. The perspective of contemporary Indians who shared their views with the authors, wrote portions of this history, advised on its production, and reviewed its contents, informed the versions of history relayed throughout this book. The themes explored in this collection interweave oral histories, collected by the authors through interviews with Indian people, and data from primary archival sources and publications. The essays that follow represent a small sample of themes that concern Indian people, who believe that their values, opinions, and version of historical processes and events are seldom portrayed fairly, if at all, in Western literature. This preoccupation with telling their history is all the more relevant in the context of government–to–government consultation between American Indian tribes and federal agencies, wherein productive debates about land management and resource preservation issues hinge on a shared understanding of why the land and its resources are important to Indian people and how Indian people lost control over them. It is precisely under the auspices of such a shared understanding between the Nevada Test Site and Nellis Air Force Base and several Indian tribes and organizations from Nevada, California, Arizona, and Utah that this historical study was conducted.

The primitive Martian climate fascinates Martian research. Identifying Martian primitive conditions as accurately as possible would make it possible to constrain the different states of water during Martian history. Today two hypotheses are debated, the first is that of a hot and humid climate prevailing on the surface of Mars at the end of the Noachian / early Hesperian. The second, on the contrary, seems to indicate that the climate was cold and glacial on the highest Martian altitudes. Nevertheless, this second hypothesis is often disputed, because unlike the presence of liquid water marker on the surface of Mars, no surface morphology attesting to a cold climate had been identified. In this thesis, we studied morphometrically structures and morphologies on the surface of Terra Sabaea, which constitutes 1% of the total surface of the planet. These structures constitute morphological legacies of past climatic activities. In order to better characterize the erosive origin of these structures, we have created a new method of morphometric analysis from different terrestrial and Martian methods. This new method makes it possible to extract more than 20 exploitable data per valley. It was therefore a question of measuring a valley maximum in order to establish a database that we compared with databases of terrestrial and Martian morphologies. Thanks to this analysis, it has been possible to highlight the presence of an ice landscape in the Terra Sabaea region. This landscape is composed of (1) glacial valleys linked or not with (2) glacial cirques. The source of this ice appears to be (3) local plateau caps at altitudes> 3500 m. We thus demonstrated for the first time the presence of glacial morphologies attesting to a cold climate there are 3.6 Ga. Nevertheless, the presence of such morphologies does not indicate that the whole of Terra Sabaea was glaciated. Morphometric analysis has demonstrated the presence of fluvial morphology geographically close to glacial morphologies and often at the same altitude, between 1500 and 3500 m. This observation allowed us to highlight (4) that the slope was a factor influencing the state of the water. Indeed, for the same altitude, fluvial morphologies are located on gentle slopes (<3 °) while glacial morphologies are located on the inner walls of impact craters with a steep slope (> 10 °). However (5) altitude also seems to be a determining factor since we do not find glacial morphology at altitudes <1500 m. Terra Sabaea land analysis also revealed (6) that there is a genetic link between high altitude glacial morphologies and lower river valleys. Indeed, it is possible to follow a valley that has its source on the highlands glaciers upstream, downstream where it joins morphologies testifying to a fluviatile activity. This continuity in glacial and fluvial morphologies makes it possible (7) to better define the origin of branched valleys, and in particular the origin of Naktong vallis, and it seems that melting ice has played a role in their formations. Moreover, this morphological continuity makes it possible to suppose that there existed (8) a cycle of water similar to the Earth in the region of Terra Sabaea there is 3.6 Ga

AbstractWe present the case of a 29-year-old single Bulgarian woman, Alice, who lived and worked alone in Germany at the time she presented with signs of acute psychosis, more specifically work-related paranoid ideation. She was diagnosed with Brief Psychotic Disorder and treated successfully with Perphenazine. A return to her home town in Bulgaria with concurrent discontinuation of antipsychotic treatment brought about a change in delusional content. She was now excessively preoccupied with religious themes, ancient rituals, and local traditions, and responded well to treatment with Olanzapine. Alice reluctantly returned to Germany but every time she started a new job she experienced depressive and paranoid exacerbations in spite of strict medication adherence. In the last 3 years, she has lived in Bulgaria and has been medication and episode free. We discuss the complex interaction between the experiences of expatriation, premorbid personality, and cultural values (of the patient and her family) in the etiology, course and outcome of brief psychotic disorder. We raise the possibility that contemporary Bulgarian cultural values (as described in a recent comparative international study) were important in Alice’s recovery and, as such, may have wider significance as protective factors for those at risk of mental disorder.

Pursuit of happiness is a highly valued human ambition that seems impossible to achieve in modern society. Ancient Greek philosophers, especially Aristotle’s concept of eudaimonia, present a theoretical starting point for defining happiness and bringing it firmly into relation with values. Philosopher Herbert Marcuse provides a valuable analysis of modern industrialized society explaining man’s loss of freedom in exchange for comfort and the self-perpetuating mechanism of consumerism that keeps people under willingly oppressed by imposing false needs. Consumerism also causes a distortion of people’s values and alienates them from their true values causing them psychological damage. Using Dr. Melanie Joy’s analysis of the psychological importance of living in accordance with one’s values and the distortion of values as a manipulation tactic common to different systems of oppression (racism, sexism, speciesism) we will identify two prerequisite conditions for achieving happiness: freedom and the alignment of values and behavior. Key words: happiness, freedom, values, false needs, consumerism

The concept of cultural movement designates an artistic reality of a huge complexity that is studied in several school disciplines: history, Romanian and universal literature, art education and music education. The study of ancient Romanian literature implies its inclusion in the humanist cultural movement. The contribution of Moldovan chroniclers to the development of our culture in the spirit of humanism consists in their contribution to capitalizing on the information on the ethnogenesis of Romanians, the unity of the people and the continuity of their existence on this territory, the Latin origin of the Romanian language; in the chronicles there is the first evidence of the evolution of the Romanian language and of the efforts to transform the language from a means of communication into a means of transmitting culture; at the same time there is the linearization of the historical event/fact. All this, Moldovan chroniclers did by focusing on humanistic values: love of nation and desire to educate the people.

In the centre of Sicily, hidden in a rural landscape that has changed significantly in the last decades, remains the traces of an old economic and productive reality: that of traditional water mills. Even if, often in precarious conservation conditions, these vestiges show an unsuspected resilience. They embody tangible and intangible values worthy of being known, protected, valued, and shared. In this sense, the research that this paper introduces aims to identify and re-read the numerous structures that still exist, to find effective strategies to safeguard and promote this important vernacular heritage: a silent guardian of uses and customs, traditional methodologies, materials and building systems. All elements that show a wise use of native resources and are the result of functional choices aimed at optimizing production. The paper presents the first results of the study, namely the cataloguing activity carried out in the Gela River valley. The methodology used is based on the development of innovative systems of inventory and sharing on the web of the identified patrimony. The activities aimed to create a digital infrastructure capable of also improving the sustainable use of assets scattered throughout the territory.

Studies of the issue of the study of the cultural and educational component of the modern Olympic movement make it possible to single out two groups of publications: the first of which includes works devoted to the socio-philosophical problems of physical culture and sports in general; the second - the analysis of the goals and objectives of the Olympic movement, its ideals and values, Olympism as a philosophical and cultural concept. At the same time, the content of the cultural and educational component of the Olympic movement remains a topical issue. The ancient Olympic Games are the starting point for understanding the Olympic symbols and rituals, their new interpretation and revival at the end of the 19th century by the founder of the modern Olympic movement, Baron Pierre de Coubertin. Studies allow us to note that the cultural and educational heritage of the ancient Olympic Games should be considered in two directions: material artifacts (architecture, literary and artistic works, sculptures, household items, etc.) and spiritual values (kalokagatiya, athlete’s honor code, ekehiriya and others). The cultural and educational component of the modern Olympic movement can be considered in terms of the following components: environment, artifacts, language, documents, symbols, heroes, stories, rituals, ceremonies.

As a sign of belief and respect, the tomb of Sheikh Zahid became place for pilgrimage, buildings were constructed over the tomb at different times. After rebuilding our state independence a new mausoleum in eastern architectual style was built at the expense of the residents during 1990-1995. “Talish legend about sleeping prince” and “Talish folk legend about Saint Sheikh Zahid” were created by folks with the belief on Sheikh Zahid. As a member and follower of the Suif sect Sheikh Zahid Gilani’s highly appreciation by all sect members of Islam indicates that the tolerant values of our people are based on ancient times. The study focuses on issues like what value theory did the ancient Stoics have, what is its most well-known way of application, and how contemporary Stoics interpret it. Conclusions of the study in brief: the Stoic theory of values can be expressed in a single phrase: “we pronounce Moral Worth to be the sole good” (Cicero, 1914, p. 277 [III.58]). From this, the Stoics deduce what is valuable, what is harmful, and what is indifferent, that is, what does not apply to the valuable or harmful to it. Contemporary Stoics essentially accept this hierarchy of values but develop more precise explanations so that they do not sound foreign to today's reader, for example, in relation to the “indifferents”. Epictetus is considered to be the popularizer of the most famous and widespread interpretation of how to apply the value theory of Stoicism – by using a formula “what is in our power and what is not” (Epiktēts, 1991, 130. lpp. [I]). This formula is still widely used today (including various self-help advice outside of Stoicism), although it needs to be applied with caution to preserve its Stoic flavor.

The current study is an attempt to provide a linguistic, a historical, as well as a sociocultural record of the language variety spoken in Bashiqa (Northern Iraq) by one of the communities which represents a religious minority in Iraq known as Yazidis. This language is an example of an under-researched language diversity. This research draws on a sample of eleven in-depth semi-structured interviews with Yezidi men and women from Bashiqa, Iraq. The analysis of these interviews has yielded a number of points which help in documenting and preserving this language variety. The study concludes that the language used in Bashiqa is an ancient hybrid regional dialect in which many values and meanings are embedded. In short, the Yazidis understand their language as a vehicle of their intangible cultural heritage.

Geophysical reassessment of the role of ancient lineaments on the development of the western margin of Laurentia and its sediment-hosted Zn-Pb deposits, Yukon and Northwest Territories. The role of crustal lineaments in the development of the western margin of Laurentia, Selwyn basin and associated sediment-hosted Zn-Pb deposits (clastic-dominated, Mississippi-Valley-type) in Yukon and NWT, are reassessed through a new 3-D inversion strategy applied to new compilations of gravity and magnetic data. Regionally continuous, broadly NE-trending crustal lineaments including the Liard line, Fort Norman structure, and Leith Ridge fault, were interpreted as having had long-standing influence on craton, margin, and sedimentary basin development. However, multiple tectonic overprints including terrane accretion, thrust faulting, and plutonism obscure the region's history. The Liard line, related to a transfer fault that bounds the Macdonald Platform promontory, is refined from the integration of the new geophysical models with published geological data. The geophysical models support the continuity of the Fort Norman structure below the Selwyn basin, but the presence of Leith Ridge fault is not supported in this area. The ENE-trending Mackenzie River lineament, traced from the Misty Creek Embayment to Great Bear Lake, is interpreted to mark the southern edge of a cratonic promontory. The North American craton is bounded by a NW-trending lineament interpreted as a crustal manifestation of lithospheric thinning of the Laurentian margin, as echoed by a change in the depth of the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary. The structure is straddled by Mississippi Valley-type Zn-Pb occurrences, following their palinspastic restoration, and also defines the eastern limit of mid-Late Cretaceous granitic intrusions. Another NW-trending lineament, interpreted to be associated with a shallowing of lower crustal rocks, is coincident with clastic-dominated Zn-Pb occurrences.

The Kamas 7.5′ quadrangle is in the Wasatch back valleys about 30 miles (50 km) east of Salt Lake City, Utah. The quadrangle is centered over the north-south-trending Kamas Valley and contains the cities of Kamas and Oakley, and the town of Peoa. Kamas Valley is situated between the foothills of the Uinta Mountains to the east and the West Hills of the Keetley volcanic f ield to the west. The Kamas region is part of the Middle Rocky Mountains physiographic province, located at the juxtaposition of several key tectonic features. A major tectonic trend known as the Cheyenne Belt runs east-west along the northern margin of the Uinta Mountains and separates the Archean continental crust of the Wyoming Province to the north and Paleoproterozoic continental crust of the Yavapai-Mazatzal province to the south (Bryant and Nichols, 1988; Houston et al., 1993). This ancient suture zone has influenced the structural development of Uinta region since its formation. During Neoproterozoic time (~770 to 740 Ma), this weak suture zone formed the northern boundary of a faulted rift basin which accumulated up to 23,000 feet (7000 m) of Uinta Mountain Group sediment consisting of gravel, sand, and mud (Bryant and Nichols, 1988). The Neoproterozoic Uinta Mountain Group consists of the Red Pine Shale, Formation of Hades Pass, and Formation of Mount Watson in the western Uinta Mountains. These rocks are exposed 4 miles (6.5 km) east of the Kamas quadrangle (Bryant, 1990). The Proterozoic rift basin was subsequently inverted with episodic uplift during Phanerozoic time resulting in the east-west-trending structural high of the Uinta arch (Crittenden, 1976; Bruhn et al., 1986; Yonkee et al., 2014). The Uinta arch is part of a large structural zone that extends across the length of the Uinta Mountains, west through the Cottonwood canyons of the Wasatch Range, and continues westward through Tooele, Utah (Clark et al., 2020). The Uinta-Tooele structural zone (Clark, 2020) is marked by a suture in the Precambrian basement, a zone of tertiary igneous rocks extending west from the Kamas quadrangle, and localized uplifts during the Phanerozoic (Yonkee et al., 2014; Clark et al., 2020). Kamas Valley is positioned at a relative structural low between the Uinta and Cottonwood arch segments of the Uinta-Tooele structural zone, with the Uinta arch segment plunging west beneath the valley and the Cottonwood arch segment plunging east beneath the valley. This structural saddle is obscured by a blanket of Cenozoic volcanics and Neogene basin fill (Bradley and Bruhn, 1988; Bryant and Nichols, 1988).

Harrington, Matthew, Amanda Lanik, Chad Hults, and Patrick Druckenmiller. Focused condition assessment of paleontological resources within Katmai National Park and Preserve. National Park Service, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.36967/2298782.

The paleontological resources (fossils) of Katmai National Park and Preserve (also referred to as ?the park? or ?Katmai? throughout this report) record the evolution of the park?s ancient life throughout most of the Mesozoic Era and portions of the Cenozoic Era (see Table 1 for a geologic time scale). A focused condition assessment (FCA) of the paleontological resources of Katmai was conducted in 2021; this report summarizes the findings of the FCA, including information on the park?s geology and paleontology, management issues related to paleontological resources, and the results of a field survey of the Kamishak Bay area. The FCA project also included fieldwork to monitor fossils at Kaguyak Point. The results of the Kaguyak Point monitoring are presented in Harrington et al. (In preparation). The first section of this report (?Paleontology?) examines the fossiliferous geologic units within Katmai as well as the fossils found within them. Fossils range from small bivalves and belemnites to large ammonites and a possible dinosaur bone. Plant fossils are abundant in the Eocene-aged Copper Lake Formation, Ketavik Formation, and Hemlock Conglomerate. The Jurassic-aged Naknek and Cretaceous-aged Kaguyak Formations are the most abundantly fossiliferous units within the park, containing ammonites, bivalves, brachiopods, gastropods, and other invertebrates. The ?Paleontological Resources Monitoring and Management? section of this report discusses potential threats to paleontological resources and management recommendations. The fossils within Katmai are nonrenewable resources that the NPS is mandated to protect, preserve, and manage. Fossils can be at risk of damage or loss from natural (e.g., erosion) and/or anthropogenic (e.g., unauthorized collection) forces. Damage or loss of fossils greatly reduces the scientific value they possess, as well as degrades the overall heritage of the park. Most of the park?s fossils have a low risk for anthropogenic impacts because many fossil sites are remote and receive little visitation. Areas in the park that contain fossils and receive visitors include the Brooks Camp area, Ukak Falls, the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, Hallo Bay, and Kaguyak Point. Fieldwork was conducted during the summer of 2021 to explore Katmai for new vertebrate fossil localities (?Kamishak Bay Reconnaissance? section of this report). The current extent of vertebrate fossils within Katmai is limited to a single heavily worn bone chunk that was found in the vicinity of Ukak Falls. Vertebrate fossils have been uncovered south of the park near Becharof Lake and near Chignik Bay in the Indecision Creek Member of the Naknek Formation. To search for vertebrate fossils, exposures of the Indecision Creek Member of the Naknek Formation were surveyed along the coast of Kamishak Bay. Bluffs and outcrops were examined for fossils and evidence supporting the existence of vertebrate trackways or remains. The study determined that exposures of the Indecision Creek Member along Kamishak Bay are unlikely to contain vertebrate fossils. This portion of the member contained marine fossils and driftwood, indicating deposition in a marine environment, and the rock outcrops fractured perpendicularly to the bedding plane, limiting the potential for preserving fossil trackways. Future exploration for vertebrate fossils in Katmai could target Mt Katolinat and Ukak Falls.
