Повний текст джерелаBeginning with the second half of the Twenties, Carlo Emilio Gadda's debut on the literary stage is hosted by two Florentine periodicals, "Solaria" (1926-34) and "Letteratura" (1937-68). In this period, Gadda's publishers, Alessandro Bonsanti, Alberto Carocci and Carlo Parenti, are witnesses and supporters of his publication on these periodicals and of his first books. Carocci and Bonsanti, as cultural mediators, share until 1936 the engagement for "Solaria". In 1936, when the historical circumstance imposes radical decisions, their perspectives diverge, and Gadda prefers to follow Bonsanti and the literary project that defines "Letteratura". GAdda's exchange with the publisher-typographer Carlo Parenti adds some tchnical and commerical details to the epistolary communication, which are useful to establish chronology of Gadda's publications on the periodicals and to defines typographical process. This thesis for the first time sheds light on the correspondence between Gadda and his three Florentine publishers and follows their dialogue in the years between 1926, when Gadda took the first contact with Carocci, the founder and director of "Solaria", and 1944, when Gadda had to leave Florence. The introductory essay reconstructs the role of the periodicals for the literary production of the author. In particular Gadda's texts on the periodicals, mainly book reviews, in which his production become a 'reaction' to the literary tradition, are relevant to the interpretation of his work in this period. Moreover, Gadda's relationship with the Florentine publishers is compared to the relation with his publishers after the Second World War, which made him famous. In conclusion, the essay describes the elements which help us understand the "complesso sistema a vasi comuicanti" (Dante Isella, Presentazione dell'edizione, in Carlo Emilio Gadda, Romanzi e racconti, I, Garzanti, Milano 1988, XX) of this texts. Furthermore, a detailed commentary of the correspondence, which consists of 473 documents, investigates the historical, social and cultural context, Gadda's relationship to other authors, as well as all the details about his work which contribute to the description of his laboratory.

This work allows to clarify the education of Bianconi, who grew up in a family of bibliophiles and art collectors. He kept abreast of theoretical development of Winckelmann and Mengs, who personally knew and he gradually moved closer and accepted the models of the classicism that was also mediated by the relationship established with Francesco Algarotti, who is here reevaluate. Regarding his two-year period spent in Rome, the relationship with the Cardinal Albani and moreover his trip to Naples, a glimmer is opened, with important implications for his intellectual maturity. Furthermore, there are: the reason regarding the choice of Bianconi as Secretary of the Academy of Brera, his educational initiatives and the relationship with Carlo di Firmian. From time to time, his many correspondents, his figurative works of art and especially his published writings were commented (for example the guide of Bologna and Milan) and his unpublished writings (such as Vitruvius, theoretical writings on the origin of architecture and engraving, orations) are remembered and also the collaboration with the Enciclopedia Metodica of Pietro Zani is reconsidered. Artist, collector, art writer and teacher, immersed in a climate of a Rationalism, he is a early supporter of the new taste for the classic.

Повний текст джерелаThe PhD thesis consists in a reconstruction of the different phases of the decoration of the ambulatory of the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dei Miracoli presso San Celso (between 1540 and 1566) through the examination of works, documents and bibliography. The first part is dedicated to the Sanctuary as a whole, and consists of: a chapter that analyzes the art historiography from the end of the Sixteenth century to today; three appendices, respectively dedicated to the guides (of the Sanctuary and of Milan), the visual fortune and the "fabbricieri" (the Sanctuary holders). The second part is dedicated to the phases of the decoration of the ambulatory and consist of: a chapter that analyzes in chronological order the making of the decoration (with digressions on the period prior to 1540 and next to 1566, in particular on the Borromaic period and on the nineteenth-century restorations); a entry for each work (altar piece) or decorative intervention (stuccoes and frescoes). The thesis is accompanied by a substantial array of images (largely derived from a photo campaign thanks to the instrumentation made available by the Department), a rich document summary and a bibliography.

Повний текст джерелаIn this thesis is explored the artistic personality of Alessandro Carli (1740-1814), a playwright of tragedies from Verona. His work is examined both from dramaturgical and scenical point of view. Once investigated the specific theatrical context of Veneto in the late Eighteenth century (a context separated between the changing issues coming from the Goldonian reform and the influences of French culture), we analyse the writing structure and some representations of the three tragedies written by Carli ("Telane ed Ermelinda", "I Longobardi" and "Ariàrato"), and the success they gained on the stage. Our study enlightens the project of reform carried out by the Veronesian author: on one side, his project is based on the special attention given to the performing practice (caught between theatrical stagings by noble amateurs or by professional comedians), on the other, on the necessity to form new actors, guided by an acting master, who should also directed them on the stage.

Повний текст джерелаThe short time taken in analysis here is one of the most controversial and ignored by the history of international institutions. Traditional historiography, by failing to provide an adequate study of milieu in which modern international law has taken root, has often considered the Institut de Droit International and the scientific project of international lawyers who composed a prelude to the bankruptcy of the first world war. In addition, the doctrinal reflections of international lawyers were analyzed with a willingness to emphasize the instability, internal divisions and structural backwardness compared to the context of preparation for WWI. These lines of research have, however, a deviant reading of the prewar period as they seek only to explain the liberal failure of the Great War, thus giving little resonance to the contribution provided by the reflections and the work of jurists in the late nineteenth century. In such a way the continuities, changes and scientific experience that, despite not having made substantial changes in international relations between the states of the late nineteenth century, were preparatory to the reflections of the international law of the twentieth century, were neglected. The intimate relationship of the Institut de Droit International and its players with the liberal politics of the late nineteenth century is the true leitmotif that emerges from this work, which focuses in particular on the Italian community of lawyers and politicians who contributed to reform of international law. It is for this reason that the importance of the Institute of Gent, to say the reason for his neglect, lies in its intertwining with the plot of the core values and general principles of liberalism of the nineteenth century. The Italian jurists and politicians who contributed to the formation and development of the Institut de Droit International, were be able, with different rules in time for intervention, mediation and interaction, to establish a world order based on the liberalism, as their liberal education suggests. The Institut de Droit International in the study of the dynamics and internal debates becomes an important institutional time and a place in which it emerges a new international profession: the international lawyer. These figures are notably skilled, with technical knowledge, political values and parliamentary experiences able to interact repeatedly with governments throughout Europe in the practice of international relations of the late century. Within the process that led to the recognition and institutionalization of autonomous disciplines, the separation of science from politics appeared, in favor of a technicality never known before, so that not only international lawyers, but all intellectuals of the early twentieth century, appeared unfit to rule the big political test of 1914 they were called to respond. Therefore, the entire Western world is the place where is felt the fervor of a "republic of science" who, in the service of humanity, tries to be independent by politics by means of institutionalization. In a game between the published and unpublished, it is shown an awareness that this consistent effort of scientific management is not merely random, but a real confluence of many different intellectual and political events. The aim is to outline not only the content and the communicative logic of the Institut de Droit International, but also, on the basis of professional affairs and academic policies of its protagonists, the methodological strategies that constituted the professionalization of the jurist. The personal correspondences, in particular, are imbued with liberal values, which together with technical and professional criteria expressed mainly by the published scientific literature, form an interesting cultural and professional background that will be taken up by international law after the "pause" the Great War. To better understand the Institut de Droit International the research was focused to an “internal” perspective, trying to emphasize the cultural-political milieu, hidden in the debate on modern international law, in which the international lawyers undertook their first actions. Through a return to all the official provisions of the Institut de Droit International and the correspondences suited “par le concours harmonique des forces de la science”, it sheds light on the special relationship that exists between the institution, state and international jurists. From these considerations, the goal is to make an association between two different viewpoints: one microscopic which is “interpersonal” and is able to bring out the interesting contribution of the Italian jurists within the European team and another that makes a macroscopic overview of the milieu of that laboratory of ideas that rose in Gent. The study of the practice of foreign policy and the study of the legal thought of the late nineteenth century, were associated to the study of the methodologies, the real and figurative "places" and the manner of decision expressed by the international lawyers. From the values and experiences shown by the "men of 1873", the protagonists of the Institut de Droit International, it emerges the surplus value of a line of research that is between the study of legal thought and the research in the history of the institutions. To answer to a socio political context devastated by the processes of state building and the new world order, new cooperative efforts of different inspirations were able to compete to the contingent state of the founding of the Institut de Droit International. These processes and events independent by the institution of Ghent, in their search for new suitable legal standards, therefore, have inaugurate the way for a new spirit of reform in international law. The intellectuals, called to respond to issues of near and far horizons, lived a reforming tension who characterized many aspects of their "way of being international". The modern international law, by living the tensions, the disenchantments and the hopes of the protagonists of the second half of the nineteenth century, can rank as a true reflection of that "worldwide mechanism" very changeable represented by the last decades of the nineteenth century.
