Анотація:
An annual well-being index constructed from thirteen socioeconomic factors is proposed in order to dynamically measure the mood of the US citizenry. Econometric models are fitted to the log-returns of the index in order to quantify its tail risk and perform option pricing and risk budgeting. By providing a statistically sound assessment of socioeconomic contentment, the index is consistent with rational finance theory, enabling the construction and valuation of insurance-type financial instruments to serve as contracts written against it. Endogenously, the VXO volatility measure of the stock market appears to be the greatest contributor to tail risk. Exogenously, “stress-testing” the index against the politically important factors of trade imbalance and legal immigration, quantify the systemic risk. For probability levels in the range of 5% to 10%, values of trade below these thresholds are associated with larger downward movements of the index than for immigration at the same level. The main intent of the index is to serve as an early-warning mechanism for negative changes in the mood of citizens, thus alerting policy makers and private agents to potential future market downturns.

Refracturing technology is one of the key technologies to recover the productivity of horizontal wells in tight oil reservoirs, and the selection of best candidate wells from target blocks is the basis of this technology. Based on the refracturing production database, this paper analyzes the direct relationship between geological data, initial fracturing completion data, and dynamic production data, and the stimulation effect of refracturing. Considering the interaction among multiple factors, the factors affecting the stimulation effect of refracturing are classified and integrated, and a comprehensive index including geology, engineering, and production is constructed, making this index meaningful both for physical and engineering properties. The XGBoost decision tree model is established to analyze the weight of influence for the comprehensive index of geology, engineering, and production in predicting the stimulation effect of refracturing. A comprehensive decision index of refracturing well selection is formed by combining the above three for performing a fast selection of horizontal candidate wells for fracturing. Taking a horizontal well test area in Songliao Basin as an example, the target wells of refracturing are selected by this method, and field operation is carried out, and a good stimulation effect is achieved. The results show that the comprehensive decision-making index constructed by this method is reliable and has certain guiding significance for well selection and stimulation potential evaluation of tight oil reservoir.

Well-being is a positive perception and usually related to satisfaction allied with emotion and determined by social variables in economics, socio-cultural, environment, and health. The determination and validation of indexes of well-being applicable to Filipinos are the intentions of the study. The study utilized the descriptive research design with the total population of five thousand one hundred five (N=5, 105) and a sample size (n = 1000) of one thousand household heads in Malaybalay City, Philippines. Survey questionnaires used in the study were validated utilizing the Delphi technique and the reliability test was done using Cronbach Alpha. The top three indicators that yield the greater optimal weights are the better indicators of well-being among Filipinos. The result of the study shows that the better indicators for well-being are housing, income, and community.Keywords: well-being, health, income, housing, community

PurposeThrough empirical research anchored in environmental psychology, the paper presents formative indicators that form an evaluation set “S.E.E.” (service environment evaluation), to simplify and systematize the measurement of visual aesthetics of servicescapes through consumers' perspective.Design/methodology/approachThe authors adopted formative index development methodology, employing a one-shot experimental design using photographic surrogates of four different servicescapes (n = 1400), and testing the index with eight noted global servicescape images.FindingsFindings reveal that visual aesthetics of servicescapes can be captured using the composite index we developed with five dimensions: complexity, coherence, legibility, mystery and novelty. Also, service type: hedonic/utilitarian, does influence how consumers evaluate servicescape visual appeal.Originality/valueFormative indicators constituting S.E.E. enables assessment of subjective visual aesthetics of servicescapes holistic, objective and an effortless task for marketers, designers and decision-makers; and helps them reliably decide on and skillfully design servicescapes with the required visual appeal.

How should a survey-based measure of well-being be implemented? How could it be constructed in a systematic and politically neutral way? These questions should be approached by economists with the same level of care that has been taken in the theoretical and practical development of GDP. We focus on two essential requirements for implementation: formulating a list of different aspects of well-being that is theoretically valid and can be measured accurately via surveys, and choosing and interpreting the survey response scales. We discuss progress to date on these issues, remaining challenges, and some possible approaches to overcoming them.

Family well-being is the only component with a negative compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the Malaysian Well-being Index (MyWI) for the period of 2000 to 2018. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the score of family well-being in MyWI had slipped further in 2020. The Family Well-being Index is an important reference and benchmarking tool for government, NGOs or zakāh institution to provide financial aid and social support to families. Considering the issues surrounding family wellbeing and the lack of Islamic indices as a tool for family well-being measurement, this article aims to identify a set of indicators for the purpose of developing a family well-being index within the Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah framework.

Given a lattice in the plane, we consider zeta-functions encoding the number of well-rounded sublattices of a given index. We are particularly interested in the abscissa of convergence of this function and show that the quality of convergence is related to arithmeticity questions concerning the ambient lattice. In particular, we discover that there are infinitely many similarity classes of well-rounded sublattices in a plane lattice if there is at least one. This generalizes results about the rings of Gaussian and of Eisenstein integers by Fukshansky and his coauthors.

Background. In Russia, there is a demand for evaluation of children’s well-being, including subjective well-being, at the national and regional levels. To implement such an evaluation system, it is necessary to develop a Russian Child Well-Being Index (CWBI), which includes indicators of both objective and subjective wellbeing in several domains. One can rely on various national data sources that can be partially integrated into the CWBI, as well as the application of the UNICEF/ Innocenti methodology for children’s well-being evaluation and new developments by Russian research teams. Objective. To analyze the Russian experience in developing approaches to largescale and multidimensional evaluation of children’s well-being (with an emphasis on subjective well-being) and to provide recommendations for development of the national Children’s Well-Being Index (CWBI). Design. Scoping review of the methodology and results of the studies that can inform the Russian task force on CWBI development. Results. Like most international models of subjective well-being, a Russian CWBI will be based on various aspects of the socio-ecological approach. The structure of domains vary but is generally compatible with the UNICEF/Innocenti model. The tools used by Russian researchers have included standardized psychometric techniques (as an independent tool and as a control of various types of validity); questionnaires specially designed to operationalize certain domains of well-being; and qualitative methods applied to small samples of children, such as focus groups, and creative and play-based methods. Work on the development of the CWBI (including the subjective well-being indicators) has been most actively performed in relation to children in state care; therefore, many of the tools have been designed to address the particular characteristics of this target group. Conclusion. Recommendations for development of the national Children’s Well-Being Index (CWBI) are given, including both the index design and organizational/ethical considerations.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan body mass index (BMI) dan subjective well-being pada remaja putri. Responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 146 responden. Teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah purposive sampling dengan karakteristik yaitu remaja putri dengan rentang usia 11 sampai 21 tahun di wilayah Jabodetabek. Dalam mengukur body mass index (BMI), peneliti menggunakan timbangan berat badan dan alat pengukur tinggi badan dan untuk skala subjective well-being peneliti menggunakan skala berdasarkan tiga aspek subjective well-being menurut Pontin, Schwannauer, Tai, dan Kinderman (2013). Hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.788, serta nilai koefisien korelasi r sebesar 0.022 yang artinya tidak terdapat hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara body mass index (BMI) dan subjective well-being pada remaja putri. Hal tersebut membuat hipotesis yang diajukan ditolak serta tinggi rendahnya body mass index (BMI) tidak dapat menjelaskan tinggi rendahnya subjective well-being pada remaja putri.

Social licence is rooted in perceptions of local rights holders and stakeholders. The disease focus of aquaculture health policy, practices, and research insufficiently reflects societal expectations for aquafarms to protect health of shared resources. Our case study of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) farming in British Columbia (BC), Canada, assessed the readiness of aquaculture to change from managing health as the absence of disease to a perspective of health as well-being to maintain social licence. We drafted an index of well-being based on agroecosystem health and socio-ecological health principles. We then reviewed publicly available industry and government information and undertook key informant interviews. The industry was well situated to develop and use a well-being index. Interviewees saw value in a well-being index and found it compatible with area-based management. Many elements of the index were being collected but there would be challenges to overcoming feelings of over-regulation; negotiating specific indicators for local situations; and securing the necessary expertise to integrate and assess the diversity of information. Health conflicts and disagreements facing salmon farming in BC are like those in other aquaculture sectors. Social licence may be improved if companies transparently report their state of the health by adapting this conceptual framework.

Purpose: Research on the psychological well-being of caregivers of children diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) suggests that the well-being of parents and caregivers has been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the psychological well-being of caregivers is a major concern, few validated well-being measures exist for caregivers of children diagnosed with ADHD. Therefore, a valid self-report scale is needed to assess well-being during the pandemic. The brief Five-Item World Health Organization Well-Being Index (WHO-5) has previously been used in studies on caregivers. However, its validity in this population remains unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and construct validity of the WHO-5 with caregivers of children with ADHD. Methods: A cross-sectional anonymous online survey was conducted in Norway. The study recruited caregivers from a community sample during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was carried out to investigate the construct validity by exploring the relationship between well-being, quality of life, social support, self-reported psychological distress, and perceived stress. Results: The findings of unidimensionality and high internal consistency, together with the results from the hypothesis testing, demonstrate the reliability and construct validity of the Norwegian version of the WHO-5 in this population. Conclusions: This study provides the first empirical evidence of the validity and reliability of the WHO-5 from a sample of Norwegian caregivers of children diagnosed with ADHD, with excellent reliability and construct validity. The scale can be used to systematize the measurement of well-being in caregivers because of its brevity and good psychometric properties, making it a valuable resource in research settings and assisting healthcare professionals in their crucial work of caring for caregivers.
