The purpose of this study is to suggest a multi-dimensional model that evaluates services in web stores using data mining, text mining and surveys. Unlike other service evaluation model, this study suggests a 4 dimensional approach in evaluating web services. It uses reciprocal evaluation methods on a web service by both services providers and service users. It identifies the cognitive differences on web services between these two groups. The study also uses text mining technologies such as social mining and topic analysis to find images of the web services. The results from the study show that there are significant differences between the evaluations on web services by service providers and service users. There are also differences between images of a service provider from news data and social media data. These differences are represented with keywords related to the service providers. Texts from news are collected and analyzed to have more object images of a web service providers. Texts from social media are collected and analyzed to have more personal images of a web service providers. A decision tree analysis, as a data mining tool, is used to induce and to produce a strategy to understand the cognitive differences and to improve the quality of services. A decision tree analysis is used to find the pattern and to explain the difference between service providers and service users. It can be used to better understand the quality of their services and to improve the quality of service from service provider’s point of view. The approach this study suggests can be used to other evaluation areas such as customer satisfaction on new products or services.

This paper focuses on addressing the problem of web service monitoring by evaluating its suitability and privacy in a distributed web service environment (DWS). The need for web services monitoring and evaluation is necessary because the quantity and quality of retrieved web services generally does not fulfill the demands or requirements of the web service requesters. In the literature, many authors proposed suitable solutions for checking the quality of web service in an ad hoc scenario but there is no available testbed for this purpose. In this work, it is proposed to develop a framework as a testbed for evaluating the web service for its suitability and privacy. In order to verify, the retrieved web services fulfill the demands and requirements of the requester in a DWS environment. The Framework to Evaluate the Web Service Suitability (FEWSS) supports service providers in modeling the services with testbed and to design service behavior to comply the service suitability. It generates run-time instances of web services, client's requests, service registries and other entities in order to emulate realistic SOA environments. By generating a real testbed, our approach assists in runtime test for provider system/services. Particular focus has been put on the privacy policy extensibility to allow the service providers and users in a complex environment. FEWSS also provides an intuitive interface for testing all services under SOA control.

Web 2.0 applications have become ubiquitous over the past few years because they provide useful features such as a rich, responsive graphical user interface that supports interactive and dynamic content. Social networking websites, blogs, auctions, online banking, online shopping and video sharing websites are noteworthy examples of Web 2.0 applications. The market for public cloud service providers is growing rapidly, and cloud providers offer an ever-growing list of services. As a result, developers and researchers find it challenging when deciding which public cloud service to use for deploying, experimenting or testing Web 2.0 applications. This study compares the scalability and performance of a social-events calendar application on two Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud services – Amazon EC2 and HP Cloud. This study captures and compares metrics on three different instance configurations for each cloud service such as the number of concurrent users (load), as well as response time and throughput (performance). Additionally, the total price of the three different instance configurations for each cloud service is calculated and compared. This comparison of the scalability, performance and price metrics provides developers and researchers with an insight into the scalability and performance characteristics of the three instance configurations for each cloud service, which simplifies the process of determining which cloud service and instance configuration to use for deploying their Web 2.0 applications. This study uses CloudStone – an open-source, three-tier web application benchmarking tool that simulates Web 2.0 application activities – as a realistic workload generator and to capture the intended metrics. The comparison of the collected metrics indicates that all of the tested Amazon EC2 instance configurations provide better scalability and lower latency at a lower cost than the respective HP Cloud instance configurations; however, the tested HP Cloud instance configurations provide a greater storage capacity than the Amazon EC2 instance configurations, which is an important consideration for data-intensive Web 2.0 applications.

Benefiting from the dynamic characteristics of cloud computing, enterprises can purchase cloud services based on different aspects in order to save operating expenses. Many companies have seen the opportunities and changes in either cloud service providers or cloud service consumers. For the latter, with so many cloud providers to choose from, there is a need for an evaluation of standards to help find the most suitable service provider. In this paper, the essential factors of enterprise clouds are discussed. An evaluation model is defined, and a web-based enterprise cloud selection application is implemented.

Existing artificial intelligence (AI) services provided by cloud providers (Artificial Intelligence as a Service (AIaaS)) and their explainability have been studied. The characteristics and provision of objective evaluation of explainable AI as a service (eXplainable AI as a Service (XAIaaS)) are defined. AIaaS solutions provided by cloud providers Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure were analyzed. Non-functional requirements for XAIaaS evaluation of such systems have been formed. A model has been developed and an example of the quality assessment of an AI system for image detection of weapons has been provided, and an example of its metric assessment has been provided. Directions for further research: parameterization of explainability and its sub-characteristics for services, development of algorithms for determining metrics for evaluating the quality of AI and XAIaaS systems, development of means for ensuring explainability.

Purpose – Attracted by tremendous market opportunities of mobile business, many web services providers have started to expand their web services from traditional PC-based environment into the mobile-based environment. However, success in the web services cannot guarantee the success in the mobile services. The purpose of this paper is to identify factors that influence consumer evaluation and use of mobile shopping services in a web-mobile service extension context. Design/methodology/approach – Based on categorization theory, this paper focusses on the role of integration and consistency between web and mobile services. A research model was created and empirically tested on data collected from 298 mobile shopping users in China. Findings – The structural equation modeling analysis indicates that evaluation of source (web service quality) positively affect evaluation of target (perceived mobile service quality and flow in mobile services). The study also found that the relationships between source and target (perceived integration and perceived consistency) play an important role in determining evaluation of the target, which in turn shapes intention to use mobile services. Research limitations/implications – The survey is based on mobile shopping consumers. Caution is required in any effort to generalize the findings to other research contexts. Factors influencing a consumer's extension or adoption decisions in regard to different mobile services may not be the same, or the degree of influence may differ. Continued studies can test and compare our findings in different mobile services contexts. Practical implications – The results of the findings provide specific methods for managing the process of web-mobile service extension. The results also indicate the importance of perceived consistency in shaping consumers’ evaluation of the extended mobile services in practical environments. Originality/value – The present study extends the categorization theory to a multi-channel context and examines mobile services adoption from a cross-environment perspective. It considers evaluation of source, evaluation of target, and the relationships between source and target, which enriches the innovation adoption literature by providing a holistic insight into the evaluation and use of mobile services.

Service computing has become a key-enabling technology to support collaboration and interaction among business partners and customers. With the development of new emerging service-related computing paradigms such as Cloud Computing and Mobile Internet, more and more services are provided by different providers. These services are becoming increasingly complex. Aiming at recommending high-quality and trustful services in the complex service computing environment, this paper presents a trust-aware search engine by integrating service functionalities, QoS (quality of service) and service trust. The proposed search engine primarily contains four components: keyword-based service matching, service QoS evaluation, service reputation evaluation and a hybrid ranking method which combines the results yielded by the previous three components to produce final service recommendations. To evaluate the performance of the authors' service search engine, comprehensive experiments are conducted using a real Web service dataset. The experimental results show that our approach outperforms conventional QoS-based service selection methods. Finally, a prototype is also presented to validate the authors' trust-aware Web service search engine.

In the early service transactions, quality of service (QoS) information was published by service provider which was not always true and credible. For better verification the trust of the QoS information was provided by the Web service. In this paper, the factual QoS running data are collected by our WS-QoS measurement tool; based on these objectivity data, an algorithm compares the difference of the offered and measured quality data of the service and gives the similarity, and then a reputation evaluation method computes the reputation level of the Web service based on the similarity. The initial implementation and experiment with three Web services' example show that this approach is feasible and these values can act as the references for subsequent consumers to select the service.

Recently, web application services based on cloud computing technologies are being offered. In the web-based application field of geo-spatial data management or processing, data processing services are produced or operated using various information communication technologies. Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) is a type of cloud computing service model that provides a platform that allows service providers to implement, execute, and manage applications without the complexity of establishing and maintaining the lower-level infrastructure components, typically related to application development and launching. There are advantages, in terms of cost-effectiveness and service development expansion, of applying non-proprietary PaaS cloud computing. Nevertheless, there have not been many studies on the use of PaaS technologies to build geo-spatial application services. This study was based on open source PaaS technologies used in a geo-spatial image processing service, and it aimed to evaluate the performance of that service in relation to the Web Processing Service (WPS) 2.0 specification, based on the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) after a test application deployment using the configured service supported by a cloud environment. Using these components, the performance of an edge extraction algorithm on the test system in three cases, of 300, 500, and 700 threads, was assessed through a comparison test with another test system, in the same three cases, using Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) without Load Balancer-as-a-Service (LBaaS). According to the experiment results, in all the test cases of WPS execution considered in this study, the PaaS-based geo-spatial service had a greater performance and lower error rates than the IaaS-based cloud without LBaaS.

In secure web application development, the role of web services will not continue if it is not trustworthy. Retaining customers with applications is one of the major challenges if the services are not reliable and trustworthy. This article proposes a trust evaluation and decision model where the authors have defined indirect attribute, trust, calculated based on available direct attributes in quality web service (QWS) data sets. After getting training of such evaluation and decision strategies, developers and customers, both will use the knowledge and improve the QoS. This research provides web-based learning about web service quality which will be utilized for prediction, recommendation and the selection of trusted web services in the pool of web services available globally. In this research, the authors include designs to make decisions about the trustworthy web services based on classification, correlation, and curve fitting to improve trust in web service prediction. In order to empower the web services life cycle, they have developed a quality assessment model to incorporate a security and performance policy.

With the increasing growth of web services shared in various mobile edge platforms, it becomes necessary to evaluate all the candidates based on their quality of services to reduce the users’ service selection cost. However, the service quality data released by service providers cannot be simply deemed as trusted due to various subjective or objective reasons, which further produce a series of serious trust-aware service evaluation problems, including service quality data sparsity and lack of feedback incentive. In view of this, we summarize the challenging issues existing in the current research field of trusted mobile edge service evaluation. Afterward, we review the current research status of the trusted service evaluation in the mobile edge environment and discuss one of the typical application scenarios based on trusted service evaluation, that is, recommender systems, as well as their diverse categories. We believe this research could be helpful in assisting a mobile edge platform to build a trusted reputation system for various smart applications hosted in the mobile edge platform.

The aspect-oriented programming (AOP) paradigm offers software developers with powerful modularization abstractions to help them explicitly separate design concerns at the source code level. However, the impact of AOP in the service-oriented architecture (SOA) paradigm has been dwarfed by the fact that existing AOP solutions are tightly coupled to a particular programming language, middleware system or execution platform. Clearly, this not only restricts the implementation choices available to application developers, but it also clashes with the heterogeneous and loosely coupled nature of SOA. This paper presents the Web Service Aspect Language (WSAL) that seamlessly integrates AOP and SOA concepts, thus avoiding the drawbacks of existing solutions. In WSAL, aspects themselves are freely specified, implemented and executed as loosely coupled web services. This characteristic allows WSAL aspects to be easily woven into the message flow exchanged between service consumers and service providers, in a way that is completely independent from any particular implementation technology. This paper also reports on the implementation and preliminary evaluation of a prototype aspect weaver for WSAL, which is based on an existing web intermediary technology.

Web services are progressively being used to comprehend service-oriented architectures. Web services facilitate the integration of applications and simplify interoperability. Additionally, it assists in wrapping accessible applications in order for developers to access them using standard languages and protocols. The user faces a difficult challenge in selecting the appropriate service in accordance with the user request as the behavior of the participating service affects the overall performance in discovery, selection, and composition. As a result, it is critical to select a high-quality service provider for these activities. Existing approaches rely on nonfunctional qualities for discovery and selection, but the user cannot always rely on these features, and these QoS values cannot be used to determine the user’s or quality perspective. Additionally, the user indicates an interest in a high-quality service based on quality attributes or service with a good reputation throughout the selection process rather than a newly registered service. As a result, a proper bootstrapping mechanism is required to evaluate newly registered services prior to their use by service requestors. This paper proposes a novel bootstrapping mechanism. The contribution of this paper involves (a) a method for evaluating the quality of service (QoS) by focusing on performance-related indicators such as response time, execution time, throughput, latency, and dependability; (b) a methodology for evaluating the QoE attributes based on user reviews that take into account both attributes and opinions; (c) bootstrap the newly registered service based on quality of service and quality of experience; and (d) building a recommender system that suggests the top-rated service for composition. The evaluation results are used to augment currently available online services by providing up-to-date quality of service and quality of experience attributes for discovery, selection, and composition.

Dengan adanya internet, berbagai informasi dapat diperoleh secara mudah dan cepat serta memberikan banyak manfaat diantaranya memperluas cakrawala siswa, sebagai sumber tambahan pelajaran dan mengembangkan kreatifitas siswa. Disamping itu juga dikembangkannya online learning yang memudahkan guru dalam memberikan pengayaan materi diluar tatap muka maupun memberikan evaluasi kepada peserta didik dengan memanfaatan jaringan internet sehingga mempermudah dan memperlancar dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan. Salah satu teknologi dalam internet yang digunakan adalah web service. Web service dibangun pada inti protokol internet yaitu TCP/IP dan HTTP. Dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar dikenal suatu evaluasi yang merupakan pengukuran hasil belajar siswa sebagai prestasi belajar, yaitu penguasaan materi pelajaran sesuai dengan kompetensi yang ditetapkan. Untuk mempermudah dalam mengukur ketercapaian belajar tersebut dikembangkan program aplikasi Sistem Evaluasi Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar Berbasis Web yang diintegrasikan dengan e-learning yang sudah tersedia, sehingga kebutuhan user yang menggunakan online test dari e-learning bisa ditangani.Penelitian ini menghasilkan web penyedia layanan analisis butir soal dan analisis ketuntasan belajar yang diintegrasikan dengan e-learning yang sudah tersedia disekolah menggunakan web service. Pengujian dilakukan dengan cara pengintegrasian data dengan e-learning dilakukan tukar menukar pesan terhadap permintaan, tanggapan dan kesalahan dalam parameter permintaan. Background Health information technologies (HITs) are becoming increasingly recognized for their potential to provide innovative solutions to improve the delivery of mental health services and drive system reforms for better outcomes. Objective This paper describes the baseline results of a study designed to systematically monitor and evaluate the impact of implementing an HIT, namely the InnoWell Platform, into Australian mental health services to facilitate the iterative refinement of the HIT and the service model in which it is embedded to meet the needs of consumers and their supportive others as well as health professionals and service providers. Methods Data were collected via web-based surveys, semistructured interviews, and a workshop with staff from the mental health services implementing the InnoWell Platform to systematically monitor and evaluate its impact. Descriptive statistics, Fisher exact tests, and a reliability analysis were used to characterize the findings from the web-based surveys, including variability in the results between the services. Semistructured interviews were coded using a thematic analysis, and workshop data were coded using a basic content analysis. Results Baseline data were collected from the staff of 3 primary youth mental health services (n=18), a counseling service for veterans and their families (n=23), and a helpline for consumers affected by eating disorders and negative body image issues (n=6). As reported via web-based surveys, staff members across the services consistently agreed or strongly agreed that there was benefit associated with using technology as part of their work (38/47, 81%) and that the InnoWell Platform had the potential to improve outcomes for consumers (27/45, 60%); however, there was less certainty as to whether their consumers’ capability to use technology aligned with how the InnoWell Platform would be used as part of their mental health care (11/45, 24% of the participants strongly disagreed or disagreed; 15/45, 33% were neutral; and 19/45, 42% strongly agreed or agreed). During the semistructured interviews (n=3) and workshop, participants consistently indicated that the InnoWell Platform was appropriate for their respective services; however, they questioned whether the services’ respective consumers had the digital literacy required to use the technology. Additional potential barriers to implementation included health professionals’ digital literacy and service readiness for change. Conclusions Despite agreement among participants that HITs have the potential to result in improved outcomes for consumers and services, service readiness for change (eg, existing technology infrastructure and the digital literacy of staff and consumers) was noted to potentially impact the success of implementation, with less than half (20/45, 44%) of the participants indicating that their service was ready to implement new technologies to enhance mental health care. Furthermore, participants reported mixed opinions as to whether it was their responsibility to recommend technology as part of standard care.

Buildings are responsible for a major amount of the annual energy consumption. A detailed recording and evaluation of building data could provide a deeper understanding of building operation schemes and the corresponding performance. This could help building owners and operators to evaluate and better understand the actual situation. Based on this (real-time) data an optimized operation scheme can be designed and implemented for future time steps. Additionally, a more detailed understanding of the impact of previous building systems interactions will be possible. The building automation industry and the related service provider sector are actually providing proprietary solutions for data logging, visualization and energy optimization. Such solutions are regularly integrated into their own specific software of the used proprietary building management solutions. As an alternative, we suggest an Internet of Things (IoT) and web services inspired concept for the implementation of a generic web service for building diagnostics. Our suggestion encompasses a holistic performance evaluation that considers both the energy consumptions and delivered building service. In this contribution, a general design of a web service based solution is presented and the future possibilities for data access from various sources are discussed. Furthermore, details of actually developed and demonstratively implemented software components for data preprocessing are presented. Data processing examples for different types of data are included and highlight the potential of such web-based approaches. Moreover, possibilities for improved building control by the use of web services for operation schedule generation or model predictive control are illustrated and critically debated.

Customers want an extraordinary service experience, for many customers “good” service is not enough to create a memorable experience that warrants telling others. Service providers are struggling to figure out service experience, what does that really mean? A new approach to understand the customer has been conceptualized in a term called Idiosyncratic Service Experience (ISE) from the previous research. ISE represents the interpersonal aspects that create these unique or special service experiences. ISE is a higher order construct made up of a) perceived employee effort, b) surprise, and c) perceived employee empathy. This present study aims to examine the antecedents and consequences of ISEs in a structural model toward particular both transport service and health care service. Structural Equation Modelling with Partial Least Square (PLS-SEM) was deployed. The sample was taken by purposive sampling. The results demonstrated that ISEs promoted feelings of delight which lead to brand usage intent, higher tolerance to future failures, and evoked self-enhancing word-of-mouth. Result also found how the exception making or the willingness of an employee to break a service norm influences ISEs and evaluations of delight. Few managerial implications found in this study could beneficial to improve service management in particular industry.

This study aims at addressing some of these doubts by introducing a measurement test for the network performance of these services, and comparing them with the performance offered by traditional web-hosting services. In this paper the parameters to be taken into consideration are studied and evaluated when actually one is going for purchasing software as a service, so that true value and benefits can be understood.

Despite the highly competitive situation within the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) market and the resulting pressure and uncertainty for the involved providers, only little knowledge is available about business model characteristics (BMCs) related to success. Merely few qualitative studies are existing that propose hypotheses on success-driving business model characteristics (SDBMCs), however, a general and comparative quantitative evaluation and thus an evidence for their impact on business success is still missing. But this knowledge is essential for IaaS providers as it would allow them to focus their limited resources and efforts on the truly decisive BMCs and, at the same time, save costs by avoiding activities and investments of minor importance. Aiming to reduce this gap, a web-based survey was carried out, in which representatives of IaaS providers of different size rated the level of relevance of the proposed SDBMCs. As this study is still going on, this paper focuses on presenting the study design and an analysis of the data collected so far. As a preliminary result, nearly 80 % of the SDBMCs were rated as extremely important or important, meaning that the existing qualitative research results were confirmed to a high degree. The relevance of the individual SDBMCs varies greatly depending on the IaaS provider’s size

Abstract Dr. Liddy will present an overview of the Champlain BASE™ eConsult service, with a focus on its implementation in long-term care (LTC). eConsult is a secure web-based tool that enables providers to communicate electronically with specialists concerning a patient’s care. Evaluation of over 100,000 cases has consistently demonstrated positive impacts on access to care: PCPs receive responses in a median of 0.9 days, and two-thirds of cases are resolved without the patient needing a face-to-face specialist visit. A cross-sectional analysis of eConsult cases sent from LTC settings in 2018 demonstrated similar response times and referral avoidance to the larger sample (a median response time of 0.6 versus 0.9 days; proportion of cases resolved without a specialist visit 70% versus 67%). These findings, coupled with eConsult’s proven success at improving access to and equity of care, demonstrate the importance of supporting eConsults expansion.

New technology that aims to tackle the systemic and societal problems face challenges bringing together diverse stakeholder perspectives effectively. We evaluate how an emotion-led approach, with a Living Lab process may be effective in these situations. We discuss findings and their implications for this in the context of the development and ongoing maintenance of a web app called “Ask Izzy”. Ask Izzy supports people who are homeless or are otherwise disadvantaged by providing information and consequently improving their everyday life and wellbeing. We present a mixed-method evaluation of the web app: firstly, we evaluate impact of key design decisions upon engagement. Secondly, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 30 participants who are either homeless, ex-homeless or service providers and used content analysis. Then we demonstrate that our emotion-led approach brings a novel perspective on concerns from key actors influencing the refinement of the app. The results section outlines emotional goals such as a feeling of control that were important to consider in order to meet the needs of both end users and the wider service provision network. Our study provides recommendations and an approach that may inform others in developing and delivering similar health care and related systems and services.

Cloud is a service oriented platform where all kinds of virtual resources are treated as services to users. Several cloud service providers have offered different capabilities for a variety of market segments over the past few years. The most important aspects of cloud computing are resource scheduling, performance measures, and user requests. Sluggish access to data, applications, and web pages spoils employees and customers alike, as well as cause application crashes and data losses. In this paper, the authors propose an analytical queuing model for performance evaluation of cloud server farms for processing bulk data. Some important performance measures such as mean number of tasks in the queue, blocking probability, and probability of immediate service, and waiting-time distribution in the system have also been discussed. Finally, a variety of numerical results showing the effect of model parameters on key performance measures are presented.

Marine macroalgae provide a variety of ecosystem services in the environmental, social and economic spheres. This study presents a qualitative assessment of the ecosystem services offered by marine macroalgae (cultivated and natural populations). Furthermore, it provides a better understanding of the benefits of macroalgae cultivated in a case study (Gracilaria birdiae) in a tropical area in Brazil. For this, a literature review was carried out using articles available on the internet (Web of Science, Science Direct, Scopus, Scielo and Google Scholar) published between 2009 and 2020, which addressed the ecosystem services associated with macroalgae. A total of 1,428 articles were analyzed, of which 163 reported some type of ecosystem service. The most registered service was regulation (30.1%), followed by provision (28.4%), support (28.0%) and cultural (13.5%). In the case study, 12 services were identified, five of which belonged to support, three to cultural, two to provision and two to regulation. Thus, both cultivated macroalgae and natural populations offer diverse ecosystem services that contribute to environmental improvement and play a positive role in the preservation and conservation of the environment and human well-being. In addition, the ecosystem services provided by macroalgae are fully aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDGs 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 13 and 14, which encompass the three pillars of sustainability (environmental, social and economic).

Despite this, there have been very few scholarly investigations into the services and characteristics that transform a web site into a portal as well as into the dimensions that determine the customer's evaluation of the portal's service quality.Design/methodology/approachBased on an empirical study in the field of e‐banking, the authors validate a measurement model for the construct of web portal quality based on the following dimensions: security and trust, basic services quality, cross‐buying services quality, added value, transaction support and responsiveness.FindingsThe identified dimensions can reasonably be classified into three service categories: core services, additional services, and problem‐solving services.Originality/valueThe knowledge of these dimensions as major determinants of consumer's quality perception in the internet provides banks a promising starting point for establishing an effective quality management for their e‐businesses.

With the widespread application of web services, trust-based service selection has become a significant requirement from a requester's point of view, and trust prediction mechanism has become a determining factor for any given service's success. But the dynamic nature of trust creates the biggest challenge in measuring a trust value and make trust predictions. In this paper, a new trust prediction model is proposed based on multiple decision factors. Firstly, the proposed model integrates multiple complementary decision factors to reflect complexity and uncertainty of trust relationship. In addition to including traditional experience-based trust factor and feedback-based trust factor, this model innovatively integrates QoS-based trust factor into global trust evaluation, which makes the model have a better rationality and a higher practicability than the existing approaches. Meanwhile, the proposed model applies the theory of OWA (Ordered Weighted Averaging) operator to assign the classification weights to these decision factors, which makes the model exhibit a strong adaptability in handling various dynamic behaviors of service providers. Simulation results show that, compared to the existing approaches, the proposed model has remarkable enhancements in the accuracy of trust prediction.

Objective: In Australia, mental health services are delivered by a complex web of publicand private-sector providers. There is a growing recognition that linkages between these groups are not optimal, and a concern that this may lead to poor outcomes. This paper illustrates a conceptual framework for developing, implementing and evaluating programmes concerned with linkages. Method: Drawing on theoretical and practical literature, this paper identifies different levels of integration, issues in evaluating programmes to address poor linkages, and features of useful evaluations. Within this context, it describes the method by which the Public and Private Partnerships in Mental Health Project (Partnership Project) is being evaluated. Conducted by St Vincent's Mental Health Service and The Melbourne Clinic, this is one of several Demonstration Projects in Integrated Mental Health Care funded under the National Mental Health Strategy. Results: Collaboration is hard to conceptualize and collaborative programmes usually have many players and components, and tend to operate within already-complex systems. This creates difficulties for evaluation, in terms of what to measure, how to measure it, and how to interpret findings. In spite of these difficulties, the illustrative example demonstrates a model for evaluating collaborative programmes that is currently working well because it is strongly conceptualized, descriptive, comparative, constructively sceptical, positioned from the bottom up, and collaborative. Conclusions: This model, or aspects of it, could be extended to the evaluation of other mental health programmes and services that have collaborative elements.

Customers around the world today are leveraging popular social media marketing (SMM) to assess the quality of products and services. Several culinary food providers have received special attention from traditional food lovers in Indonesia, including Warung Kuliner Suroboyo which has several branches in each region. On this occasion, we tried to study the relationship between SMM, brand awareness, social networking, and decision-making with objects at Suroboyo Warung Culinary in Indonesia. The sample size involves 150 respondents who are regular customers in three locations (Surabaya City, Balikpapan City, and Samarinda City) who use Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. To make it easier for the survey to be carried out with the support of 'Google Form' in 2020, and the data is processed using multiple regression analysis. The SMM has a positive effect on brand awareness (H1 is accepted), brand awareness has a positive effect on decision-making (H2 is accepted), SMM has a positive effect on social networking (H3 is accepted), social networking has a positive.

PurposeTo propose a model of a privacy‐enhanced catalogue search system (PECSS) in an attempt to address privacy threats to consumers, who search for products and services on the world wide web.Design/methodology/approachThe model extends an agent‐based architecture for electronic catalogue mediation by supplementing it with a privacy enhancement mechanism. This mechanism introduces fake queries into the original stream of user queries, in an attempt to reduce the similarity between the actual interests of users (“internal user profile”) and the interests as observed by potential eavesdroppers on the web (“external user profile”). A prototype was constructed to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the model.FindingsThe evaluation of the model indicates that, by generating five fake queries per each original user query, the user's profile is hidden most effectively from any potential eavesdropper. Future research is needed to identify the optimal glossary of fake queries for various clients. The model also should be tested against various attacks perpetrated against the mixed stream of original and fake queries (i.e. statistical clustering).Research limitations/implicationsThe model's feasibility was evaluated through a prototype. It was not empirically tested against various statistical methods used by intruders to reveal the original queries.Practical implicationsA useful architecture for electronic commerce providers, internet service providers (ISP) and individual clients who are concerned with their privacy and wish to minimize their dependencies on third‐party security providers.Originality/valueThe contribution of the PECSS model stems from the fact that, as the internet gradually transforms into a non‐free service, anonymous browsing cannot be employed any more to protect consumers' privacy, and therefore other approaches should be explored. Moreover, unlike other approaches, our model does not rely on the honesty of any third mediators and proxies that are also exposed to the interests of the client. In addition, the proposed model is scalable as it is installed on the user's computer.

Health Data collection is one of the major components of public health systems. Decision makers, policy makers, and medical service providers need accurate and timely data in order to improve the quality of health services. The rapid growth and use of mobile technologies has exerted pressure on the demand for mobile-based data collection solutions to bridge the information gaps in the health sector. We propose a prototype using open source data collection frameworks to test its feasibility in improving the vaccination data collection in Kenya. KenVACS, the proposed prototype, offers ways of collecting vaccination data through mobile phones and visualizes the collected data in a web application; the system also sends reminder short messages service (SMS) to remind parents on the date of the next vaccination. Early evaluation demonstrates the benefits of such a system in supporting and improving vaccination of children. Finally, we conducted a qualitative study to assess challenges in remote health data collection and evaluated usability and functionality of KenVACS.

The proposed platform consists of three components:receipt scanner,ReceiptLog DB, andReceiptLog API. The receipt scanner digitizes daily receipts, and the ReceiptLog DB manages the scanned data. The ReceiptLog API provides the receipt log as a service. The API consists of the BasicAPI, which provides fundamental access for the receipt log, whereas the MiningAPI performs a statistical analysis of the receipt log. These APIs are published as Web services, and can used by multiple applications and services for various purposes. We also conduct an experimental evaluation with actual subjects, to confirm the usefulness of services with receipt log.

The number of children in the United States who need two languages to communicate in home and school settings is rapidly growing. The challenge to support home and school languages can be daunting considering the shortage of bilingual clinicians and the multitude of home languages in the United States. Telepractice is one approach to address this challenge, namely by connecting bilingual service providers with language-matched children and families. This article describes a case example of telepractice between a bilingual speech-language pathologist and a Vietnamese-speaking mother–child dyad. Background The use of web-based services within primary care (PC) in the National Health Service in England is increasing, with medically underserved populations being less likely to engage with web-based services than other patient groups. Digital facilitation—referring to a range of processes, procedures, and personnel that seek to support patients in the uptake and use of web-based services—may be a way of addressing these challenges. However, the models and impact of digital facilitation currently in use are unclear. Objective This study aimed to identify, characterize, and differentiate between different approaches to digital facilitation in PC; establish what is known about the effectiveness of different approaches; and understand the enablers of digital facilitation. Methods Adopting scoping review methodology, we searched academic databases (PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library) and gray literature published between 2015 and 2020. We conducted snowball searches of reference lists of included articles and articles identified during screening as relevant to digital facilitation, but which did not meet the inclusion criteria because of article type restrictions. Titles and abstracts were independently screened by 2 reviewers. Data from eligible studies were analyzed using a narrative synthesis approach. Results A total of 85 publications were included. Most (71/85, 84%) were concerned with digital facilitation approaches targeted at patients (promotion of services, training patients to improve their technical skills, or other guidance and support). Further identified approaches targeted PC staff to help patients (eg, improving staff knowledge of web-based services and enhancing their technical or communication skills). Qualitative evidence suggests that some digital facilitation may be effective in promoting the uptake and use of web-based services by patients (eg, recommendation of web-based services by practice staff and coaching). We found little evidence that providing patients with initial assistance in registering for or accessing web-based services leads to increased long-term use. Few studies have addressed the effects of digital facilitation on health care inequalities. Those that addressed this suggested that providing technical training for patients could be effective, at least in part, in reducing inequalities, although not entirely. Factors affecting the success of digital facilitation include perceptions of the usefulness of the web-based service, trust in the service, patients’ trust in providers, the capacity of PC staff, guidelines or regulations supporting facilitation efforts, and staff buy-in and motivation. Conclusions Digital facilitation has the potential to increase the uptake and use of web-based services by PC patients. Understanding the approaches that are most effective and cost-effective, for whom, and under what circumstances requires further research, including rigorous evaluations of longer-term impacts. As efforts continue to increase the use of web-based services in PC in England and elsewhere, we offer an early typology to inform conceptual development and evaluations. Obtaining information about destinations and services they provide is ever more based on user-generated content (UGC), which includes reviews of tourism services as well as evaluation of attractions and destinations by visitors. The growing importance of reviews of tourism services is recognized by tourism service providers, and some of them influence the content of reviews on review sites. At the same time, procedures for the prevention of false and misleading reviews, as well as their detection, are being intensively developed. This is documented in relevant sources, which were identified especially on the Web of Science, Scopus, Sciencedirect, Researchgate and the websites of MDPI, Emerald and Taylor & Francis Online. The aim of this study is to reveal how the verification of reviews can be improved with the intention to increase confidence in the review sites. In the form of case studies of TripAdvisor and Booking.com, the current rise of trust in reviews on these review sites was analysed and documented. The outputs of research include a SWOT analysis, processual analysis and an analysis of verification process, conditions, factors affecting trust in reviews on review sites. On these bases, a conceptual model for providing verified reviews of tourism services or verified destination assessment and two process models for providing verified reviews of tourism services and for providing verified destination assessment have been drawn up.

A telephone-based cognitive behavioural therapy pilot project was trialled from July 2008 to June 2010, via an Australian Government-funded primary mental health care program. A web-based minimum dataset was used to examine level of uptake, sociodemographic and clinical profile of consumers, precise nature of services delivered, and consumer outcomes. Key informant interviews with 22 project officers and 10 mental health professionals elicited lessons learnt from the implementation of the pilot. Overall, 548 general practitioners referred 908 consumers, who received 6607 sessions (33% via telephone). The sessions were delivered by 180 mental health professionals. Consumers were mainly females with an average age of 37 years and had a diagnosis of depressive and/or anxiety disorders. A combination of telephone and face-to-face sessions of 1 h in duration were conducted, delivering behavioural and cognitive interventions, usually with no cost to consumers. Several implementation issues were identified by project officers and mental health professionals. Although face-to-face treatment is preferred by providers and consumers, the option of the telephone modality is valued, particularly for consumers who would not otherwise access psychological services. Evidence in the form of positive consumer outcomes supports the practice of multimodal service delivery.

Climate change challenges mountain communities to prepare themselves via Community-Based Adaptation (CBA) plans that reduce vulnerability. This paper outlines the evaluation of a developed web-based information system to support CBA, referred to as a Mountain Community Adaptive System (MCAS). The web-based user interface visualizes collated data from data providers, integrating it with near real-time climate and weather datasets. The interface provides more up-to-date information than was previously available on the environment, particularly on land and climate. MCAS, a cloud-based Land Information System (LIS), was developed using an Agile-inspired approach offering system creation based on bare minimum system requirements and iterative development. The system was tested against Fit-For-Purpose Land Administration (FFP LA) criteria to assess the effectiveness in a case from Nepal. The results illustrate that an MCAS-style system can provide useful information such as land use status, adaptation options, near real-time rainfall and temperature details, amongst others, to enable services that can enhance CBA activities. The information can facilitate improved CBA planning and implementation at the mountain community level. Despite the mentioned benefits of MCAS, ensuring system access was identified as a key limitation: smartphones and mobile technologies still remain prohibitively expensive for members of mountain communities, and underlying information communication technology (ICT) infrastructures remain under-developed in the assessed mountain communities. The results of the evaluation further suggest that the land-related aspects of climate change should be added to CBA initiatives. Similarly, existing LIS could have functionalities extended to include climate-related variables that impact on land use, tenure, and development.

Evaluation of Multimedia Applications in a Cluster-Oriented Environment In the age of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Web and the Internet have changed significantly the way applications are developed, deployed and used. One of recent trends is modern design of web-applications based on SOA. This process is based on the composition of existing web services into a single scenario from the point of view of a particular user or client. This allows IT companies to shorten the product-time to market process. On the other hand, it raises questions about the quality of the application, trade-offs between quality factors and attributes and measurements of these. Services are usually hosted and executed in an environment managed by its provider that assures the quality attributes such as availability or throughput. Therefore, in this paper an attempt has been made to perform quality measurements towards the creation of efficient, dependable and user-oriented Web applications. First, the process of designing service-based applications is described. Next, metrics for subsequent measurements of efficiency, dependability and usability of distributed applications are presented. These metrics will assess the efforts and trade-offs in a Web-based application development. As examples, we describe a pair of multimedia applications which we have developed in our department and executed in a cluster-based environment. One of them runs in the BeesyCluster middleware and the second one in the Kaskada platform. For these applications we present results of measurements and conclude about relations between quality attributes in the presented application development model. This knowledge can be used to reason about such relations for new similar applications and be used in rapid and quality development of the latter.

AbstractIntroductionSevere sepsis and septic shock are common and often fatal medical problems. The Prehospital Sepsis Project is a multifaceted study that aims to improve the out-of-hospital care of patients with sepsis by means of education and enhancement of skills. The objective of this Project was to assess the knowledge and attitudes in the principles of diagnosis and management of sepsis in a cohort of United States out-of-hospital care providers.MethodsThis was cross-sectional study. A 15-item survey was administered via the Web and e-mailed to multiple emergency medical services list-servers. The evaluation consisted of four clinical scenarios as well as questions on the basics of sepsis. For intra-rater reliability, the first and the fourth scenarios were identical. Chi-square and Fisher's Exact testing were used to assess associations. Relative risk (RR) was used for strength of association. Statistical significance was set at .05.ResultsA total of 226 advanced EMS providers participated with a 85.4% (n = 193) completion rate, consisting of a 30.7% rural, 32.3% urban, and 37.0% suburban mix; 82.4% were paramedics and 72.5% had worked in EMS >10 years. Only 57 (29.5%) participants scored both of the duplicate scenarios correctly, and only 19 of the 193 (9.8%) responded to all scenarios correctly. Level of training was not a predictor of correctly scoring scenarios (P = .71, RR = 1.25, 95% CI = 0.39-4.01), nor was years of service (P = .11, RR = 1.64, 95% CI = 0.16-1.21).ConclusionsPoor understanding of the principles of diagnosis and management of sepsis was observed in this cohort, suggesting the need for enhancement of education. Survey items will be used to develop a focused, interactive Web-based learning program. Recently, mobile browsing on the World Wide Web is growing rapidly. The growth has created a surge in the number of Web pages designed for mobile devices. To increase the usability of mobile browsing, the Mobile Web Best Practices have been proposed to guide the development of mobile-friendly Web pages. In this paper, the mobileOK checker, a free service provided by W3C, is used to automatically inspect the conformance of 46 popular mobile Web sites to the Mobile Web Best Practices. We analyze the evaluation results and provide suggestions for improving the design of mobile Web sites. In mobile browsing, different mobile devices have different screen sizes, layout structures, and styles to represent Web contents. Furthermore, mobile devices are developing fast. The diversity and fast development of mobile devices cause the mobile design guidelines changing over time. However, the mobileOK checker is not flexible to include new guidelines or customize a best practice rule to fit a specific mobile browsing scenario. To solve this problem, this paper presents a generic approach to represent the mobile design guidelines through an XML schema. Using the XML schema provides the flexibly to support evolving guidelines in an open format. To evaluate our approach, a prototype, WPChecker, has been developed.

Web services’ (WS) emphasis on open standards provides substantial benefits over previous application integration techniques. A major WS feature is SOAP, a simple, robust and extensible XML-based protocol for the exchange of messages. For this reason, SOAP WS on virtual hosts are now widely used to provide shared functionalities on clouds. Unfortunately, SOAP has two major performance-related drawbacks: i) verbosity, related to XML, that leads to increased network traffic, and ii) high computational burden of XML parsing and processing, that leads to high latency. In this paper, we address these two issues and present new results regarding our framework for Differential SOAP Multicasting (DSM). The main idea behind our framework is identifying the common pattern and differences between SOAP messages, modeled as trees, so as to multicast similar messages together. Our method is based on the well known concept of Tree Edit Distance, built upon a novel filter-differencing architecture to reduce message aggregation time, identifying only those messages which are relevant (i.e., similar enough) for similarity evaluation. In this paper we focus on recent improvements to the filter-differencing architecture, including a dedicated differencing output format designed to carry the minimum amount of diff information, in the multicast message, so as to minimize the multicast message size, and therefore reduce the network traffic. Simulation experiments highlight the relevance of our method in comparison with traditional and dedicated multicasting techniques.

In this paper we present a novel on-line NFV (Network Function Virtualization) orchestration algorithm for edge computing infrastructure providers that operate in a heterogeneous cloud environment. The goal of our algorithm is to minimize the usage of computing resources which are offered by a public cloud provider (e.g., Amazon Web Services), while fulfilling the required networking related constraints (latency, bandwidth) of the services to be deployed.We propose a reference network architecture which acts as a test environment for the evaluation of our algorithm. During the measurements, we compare our results to the optimal solution provided by an ILP-based solver.

Abstract Need for a Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI) as a component of a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) is widely recognized. An MSDI is relevant not only for hydrographers and government planners, but also for many other sectors which takes interest in marine spatial data, whether they are data users, data providers, or data managers [9]. An MSDI encompasses marine and coastal geographic and business information. For efficient use of Marine Spatial Data, it is necessary to ensure its valid and accessible distribution. A geoportal is a specialized web portal for sharing spatial information at different levels over the Internet. This paper re-examines the implementation of an MSDI and what it means for data custodians and end users. Several geoportals are reviewed (German and Australian) to determine their web services functionality, capabilities and the scope to which they support the sharing and reuse of Marine Spatial Data to assist the development of the Croatian MSDI Geoportal. This framework provides a context for better understanding the information bases on spatial data standards and a tool for evaluation of MSDI dissemination - Geoportal.

In Manufacturing Grid (MG) system, there are primarily two kinds of users: resource service consumer and resource service provider. For a resource service request task, the MG system should search the services which are qualified for the requirements of consumer and then choose the optimal one to execute it. In according to the distributed system structure of MG and node routing model influenced by several factors (e.g., time minimization, cost minimization, bandwidth minimization), the searching technology based on web service technology and ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm has been proposed in this paper. The basic evaluation models and formulations are described, and then the algorithms are presented to minimize the expenses. The experimental results also show that the proposed method is useful in solving the searching problems in MG system.

It started with the analysis of competitior’s condition using Porter’s five competitive forces analysis, internal condition using SWOT analysis, and internal componay process using Value Chain analysis to conclude a suitable IT strategy for the company. It is then continued with Work-Centered analysis to produce the increasing of business process then designing web-based online training system model in doing evaluation to show good accommodation and training service from Intellisys to customers that could bring the company competitive advantages. 325 Background: Creating an effective platform for multidisciplinary tumor conferences can be challenging in the rural community setting. The Duke Oncology Network, which is affiliated with hospitals in rural locations throughout North Carolina, created an internet-based platform for a multidisciplinary conference to enhance the care of lung cancer patients in the community. This conference incorporates providers from different physical locations within the community and affiliated providers from a university-based cancer center two hours away. An electronic approach connects providers through space and time vocally and visually. Methods: Development of the virtual conference began in February 2009. Biweekly conferences were set up using the Adobe Connect web conferencing platform. This provides a secure website and phone line to ensure patient confidentiality. Case information is de-identified and incorporated into a slideshow uploaded to the platform. Multiple disciplines are invited to participate, including radiology, radiation oncology, thoracic surgery, pathology, pulmonology, and medical oncology. Participants only need telephone access and internet connection to participate. Results: The first virtual tumor board occurred December 14, 2009. Patient histories and physicals are presented, and the web conferencing platform allows radiologic and histologic images to be reviewed. Treatment plans for patients are discussed, allowing providers to coordinate care among the different subspecialties. Patients are identified that need referral to the affiliated university-based cancer center for specialized services. Pertinent treatment guidelines and journal articles are reviewed. In 2011, there were 9-10 participants per session, with 2-3 cases presented, on average. Conclusions: The use of a web conferencing platform allows subspecialty providers throughout the community and hours away to participate in discussing lung cancer patient cases. This platform increases convenience for providers, eliminating travel time to a central location. Coordination of care for patients requiring multidisciplinary care is facilitated, shortening evaluation time prior to definitive treatment plan.

BackgroundBetter understanding, documentation and evaluation of different refugee health interventions and their means of health system integration and intersectoral collaboration are needed.ObjectivesExplore the barriers and facilitators to the integration of health services for refugees; the processes involved and the different stakeholders engaged in levaraging intersectoral approaches to protect refugees’ right to health on resettlement.DesignScoping review.MethodsA search of articles from 2000 onward was done in MEDLINE, Web of Science, Global Health and PsycINFO, Embase. Two frameworks were applied in our analysis, the ‘framework for analysing integration of targeted health interventions in systems’ and ‘Health in All Policies’ framework for country action. A comprehensive description of the methods is included in our published protocol.Results6117 papers were identified, only 18 studies met the inclusion criteria. Facilitators in implementation included: training for providers, colocation of services, transportation services to enhance access, clear role definitions and appropriate budget allocation and financing. Barriers included: lack of a participatory approach, insufficient resources for providers, absence of financing, unclear roles and insufficient coordination of interprofessional teams; low availability and use of data, and turf wars across governance stakeholders. Successful strategies to address refugee health included: networks of service delivery combining existing public and private services; system navigators; host community engagement to reduce stigma; translation services; legislative support and alternative models of care for women and children.ConclusionLimited evidence was found overall. Further research on intersectoral approaches is needed. Key policy insights gained from barriers and facilitators reported in available studies include: improving coordination between existing programmes; supporting colocation of services; establishing formal system navigator roles that connect relevant programmes; establishing formal translation services to improve access and establishing training and resources for providers.
