Abstract L’applicabilité de tests biochimiques a été évaluée pour une éventuelle utilisation dans le cadre du suivi d’un procédé par biofiltration. Les eaux de lavage, issues de biofiltres d’une usine de la Communauté urbaine de Québec, ont été échantillonnées puis analysées pour certains tests biochimiques (déshydrogé-nase, adénosine triphosphate et hydrolases) et caractétistiques physico-chimiques. Les résultats obtenus montrent que les déshydrogénases et hydrolases pourraient servir comme outil de suivi et d’opération d’un biofiltre; ce qui ne semble pas le cas pour l’adénosine triphosphate. Une relation entre l’activité déshydrogénase et la performance du procédé, évaluée par le pourcentage d’enlèvement de la demande biochimique en oxygène a pu être établie. Différents types d’hydrolases, dont la présence semble reliée à la détérioration des performances du procédé, ont également été identifiés soit les (β-Glucosidase, (β-Glucuronidase, α-Galactosidase et une Estérase (pour les composés à 4 carbones). De plus, les résultats obtenus indiquent qu’il serait possible d’établir une prédiction de la performance variant entre 2 et 4 jours suivant l’essai biochimique.

Abstract:New Caledonia is characterized by cultural diversity, and human occupation of the territory is divided. A Melanesian, Kanak agrarian society (about 40% of the total population), and a largely urban society, of European and other origins (about 60%), co-inhabit a territory of approximately 19,000 km2. The duality of occupation is also shown in the juxtaposition of common and customary land laws. These are the result of a painful history of land dispossession during colonial times and restitution of some land to the Kanak from 1970. Kanak identity is built on the clan's history inscribed in a natural milieu where the environment, and land, has customary value, more than use value. New Caledonia has considerable mineral resources, especially nickel. Mining often creates conflict, as it raises the use value of land. Therefore, the establishment of a mine, refinery or industrial zone can often initiate assertions of clan ownership and land claims. Land rights are constantly updated, and can be renegotiated. The remodeling of the territory under mining pressures and new land allocations is a means for upward social mobility and prestige in Kanak society. These issues are demonstrated for the Federation "Djelawe" and two tribes (Oundjo and Baco) near the site of the future nickel ore processing plant and port (the Koniambo project) in the north of Grande Terre built by the local SMSP company and the Swiss Xstrata group. A discourse of environmental protection was used to restrain industrial activity but also to assert rights to clan land. But development pressures have also been used to achieve political control over land, and thus to increase clan recognition, and possible royalty payments. Thus, land claims are part of a game of prestige and power between clans and families. Socio-economic access to land, it emerges, is clearly more important in these cases than the protection of its bio-physical assets. Key words: New Caledonia, Kanak, land conflicts, nickel mining, regional development.Résumé:La Nouvelle-Calédonie se caractérise par une grande diversité culturelle, mais également par une dualité des espaces de vie. Une société agraire multiséculaire, d'origine kanak (environ 40% de la population totale), et une société majoritairement urbaine, d'origine européenne, mais largement métissée (environ 60% de la population totale), co-habitent sur un territoire d'environ 19,000 km2 qui possèdent des ressources minérales considérables, surtout en nickel. La dualité des espaces de vie se montre également dans la juxtaposition de terres soumises au droit commun et de terres soumises au droit coutumier. Ces dernières sont le fruit d'une histoire douloureuse de spoliations foncières lors de l'époque coloniale et de rétrocessions à partir des terres 1970. La perception territoriale de la population kanak s'oriente vers un modèle où la valeur patrimoniale prime sur la valeur d'usage, car l'identité kanak se construit sur l'histoire du groupe inscrit dans un environnement où tous les objets environnementaux possèdent une certaine valeur. La co-existence des lieux à forte valeur patrimoniale, les lieux sacrés, et une activité minière ou économique au sens large peut entraîner une transformation de la valeur et suscite souvent des conflits, car une légitimité foncière signifie un plus de prestige. De ce fait, la mise en place d'un projet économique – c'est-à-dire une mine, une usine métallurgique ou une zone industrielle – réveille souvent des revendications foncières. Ces revendications démontrent que les légitimités foncières sont en perpétuelle réactualisation et peuvent être renégociées. Le remodelage du territoire représente un moyen pour une ascension sociale au sein de la société kanak. Ces enjeux fonciers sont démontrés à l'exemple de la fédération « Djelawe » et de deux tribus (Oundjo et Baco) en proximité du site industriel de la future « usine du Nord », construite par un consortium de la SMSP locale et du groupe suisse Xstrata (projet Koniambo). Depuis un certain temps, la protection de l'environnement devient une préoccupation de plus en plus importante des acteurs locaux. Ce discours environnementaliste est cependant souvent instrumentalisé pour atteindre des objectifs « politico-fonciers »: une reconnaissance foncière et des royalties. Ainsi, les revendications foncières s'inscrivent dans un jeu de prestige et de pouvoir entre clans et familles. L'aspect socio-économique de l'environnement semble être clairement plus important que l'aspect bio-physique. De acuerdo con esta función, las empresas y las fábricas han desarrollado una influencia decisiva en la configuración de la mayor parte de los espacios urbanos. Esta actividad ha sido también esencial en la evolución de las ciudades medias, con un proceso industrializador más tardío. Laevolución de la industria en la ciudad ha definido en gran medida la forma urbana de las actuales estructuras o, dicho de otro modo, el plano urbano de las ciudades medias españolas tiene una intensa relación con el proceso industrial contemporáneo. According to this function, companies and factories have developed a decisive influence on the configuration of most urban spaces. This activity has also been essential in the evolution of medium-sized cities, with a later industrialization process. The evolution of the industry in the city has largely defined the urban form of the current structures or, in other words, the urban plan of the Spanish medium cities has an intense relationship with the contemporary industrial process. This contribution raises a reflection about how this process has taken place in the Spanish middle cities, reflecting on the presence of industry in each of the stages of the contemporary urbanization process.

Анотація:
Kenyan literary writers in Swahili soon after independence dwelt mostly with rural setting. Most of the works dwelt on African social values and philosophy within work ethics and relationships. However, with the growth of industries in urban centers, the issue of rural urban migration arose. Many educated Kenyans moved to urban centers in search of jobs. To mirror this change in society, literary writers enriched their works by using both the rural and urban settings. This became a constant feature in the works of literary writers in Swahili. Some of these features include street life, life in the slums and pollution. This paper attempts to study how the urban setting is depicted in modern Kenyan Swahili literary texts. Realism theory as propagated by both Georg Lukács and Bertolt Brecht will be invoked during the analysis of the texts, specifically, how the urban genre developed, images used to depict urban life and centers, and establish the influence of this genre on Swahili literary writing as a whole.

Urban schools in high-poverty communities face unique challenges. It is often the school principal who is tasked with addressing achievement gaps, low scores and students with high needs. Despite the importance and the difficulties of their role, the voices of many of these dedicated leaders are not often heard. This narrative inquiry shares the insights of two elementary principals in urban schools who recount the barriers, supports and rewards of their role. Using moral leadership as a theoretical framework, the findings of this study include a call for school boards to consider carefully the qualities and passions of their leaders when assigning principals to urban schools. Keywords: principal, moral leadership, high-poverty, urban schools, narrative inquiry Les écoles en milieux urbains avec des taux élevés de pauvreté font face à des défis uniques. Il revient souvent aux directeurs d’école de répondre aux écarts en matière de rendement, aux faibles résultats et aux élèves ayant des besoins élevés. Malgré l’importance et les difficultés de leur rôle, les voix de plusieurs de ces leaders dévoués ne se font pas souvent entendre. Cette enquête narrative présente les perspectives de deux directeurs d’écoles primaires urbaines qui racontent les obstacles, les supports et les récompenses qui les accompagnent dans leur rôle. Résumé La population haïtienne compte parmi les groupes immigrés les plus récents de la région métropolitaine de Montréal. Dix fois plus nombreuse en 1981 qu’en 1971, cette population d’environ 30 000 personnes réside en majorité (80%) dans trois des quinze municipalités de la région montréalaise : Montréal-Nord, St-Léonard et Montréal. Afin d’identifier les causes et les mécanismes des regroupements de population haïtienne à l’intérieur de ces municipalités, une enquête a été menée au cours de l’été 1982 auprès de 152 ménages haïtiens résidant dans des zones de concentration. Les besoins de ces ménages en matière de logement diffèrent de ceux de l’ensemble des ménages vivant dans les mêmes zones : les ménages haïtiens se caractérisent par un nombre plus élevé de membres et par l’importance accrue des familles comptant des enfants à la maison, enfants qui sont aussi plus jeunes. Les logements qu’ils occupent se situent pour la plupart dans des immeubles à appartements, le plus souvent au sous-sol ou au second étage des bâtiments résidentiels; ce sont surtout des logements de taille moyenne (quatre ou cinq pièces), ce qui donne une densité d’occupation plus forte pour les ménages haïtiens que pour l’ensemble des ménages. La situation socio-économique de ces ménages leur impose également des contraintes particulières, puisque leurs membres actifs sont davantage concentrés dans un même secteur du marché du travail que ne l’est la population active des mêmes zones : les deux tiers sont ouvriers et ouvrières en usine. Ces caractéristiques situent donc la population haïtienne des zones d’enquête parmi les groupes sociaux désavantagés sur le marché du logement et les plus susceptibles d’être touchés par la crise actuelle.

This article is a modified version of a paper delivered at a Conference on the methodology of planning and development held at Trois-Rivières on May 19-20, 1977. Much of municipal control of urban development in Canada today is carried out through the regulatory process. Master plans, zoning, subdivision control and building by-laws are the mainstays of this system. In recent years, the legislatures of most Canadian provinces have incorporated in their respective Planning Acts certain mechanisms designed to improve the municipal regulatory response to the challenge of urban change. These mechanisms often appear to be needlessly complicated, whereas they are in fact designed to circumvent certain difficulties which are inherent in the classical regulatory system. The main objectives which these new mechanisms seek to attain are greater flexibility in the decision-making process, better phasing of development and increased public participation at all levels of planning and decision-making. This article concentrates on the law of the province of Québec, but reference is frequently made to the legislation of other Canadian jurisdictions in order to indicate which avenues might be followed in Québec in order to reform the law governing municipal planning by-laws. After a brief introduction, the second Part of this article is devoted to canvassing the principal legal rules governing municipal planning bylaws: first, with respect to by-laws in general; second, with respect to the extent of the limited powers delegated to municipalities; third, with respect to the adoption and amendment procedure for planning by-laws. The third Part is devoted to a comparative analysis of certain legal mechanisms some of which have become commonplace in other Canadian provinces but which remain largely untried in Quebec. These include minor variances, conditional uses, bonus zoning, site plan by-laws, contract zoning and development control. All of these techniques tend to favour greater flexibility in the administration of land-use planning. Other devices are more useful in seeking to achieve phased development. These include holding by-laws and the requirement that land be serviced before a building permit will issue (the latter technique has been in use in Quebec for many years and is authorized to a limited extent by statute). The article concludes by pointing out that some of the mechanisms canvassed would be of considerable use to town planners in Quebec and should be recognized by statute, preferably in the forthcoming Planning Bill which the present government has promised to introduce in the near future. Town planners should be wary of using them without such legislative sanction, however, because the Canadian courts, with limited exceptions such as in the case of holding by-laws, have struck down attempts by municipalities to step outside the limited statutory authority vested in them.

The European budget for 2014-2020 grants a significant place to cities. In this context, the purpose of this paper aims at characterizing them in the light of the role they have been given by the cohesion policy in order to better understand what is at stake when reinforcing this policy in their favor. Based on a statistical study using data collected in the Urban Audit on European cities, we show that they do not present an homogeneous pattern of development and that East and West still differ when it comes to urbanization.

Cet article analyse l'évolution des inondations dans la ville de Douala à partir des méthodes permettant de calculer une valeur de débit maximum à l'aide des données météorologiques sur une période de 35 ans (1985-2019). Une base de données sur les inondations créée à l'aide d'informations issues de la presse montre que Douala est fréquemment inondée durant la saison des pluies par des systèmes précipitants en V associés à la mousson. On observe ainsi une augmentation du nombre d'inondations rapportées depuis les années 2010, qui semble corrélée avec l'évolution de l'emprise urbaine de la ville. Les zones urbaines inondées de façon récurrente sont le plus souvent les quartiers « informels » construits directement en zones inondables et dont l'accroissement est important depuis les années 1990. L'étude des inondations du 2 et 3 août 2000 à Douala indique qu'on avait une situation synoptique propice à de fortes précipitations. On peut par l'exemple noter que l'humidité relative était presque de 99 %, ce qui implique que l'air est saturé en eau avec une chute de température. L'intérêt de cette étude est de réduire la vulnérabilité en intégrant les populations et les décideurs au coeur des stratégies de développement et de gestion urbaine des risques liés aux aléas climatiques. This article analyzes the temporal evolution of flooding in the urban area of Douala using methods allowing to compute a maximum flow value using meteorological data over a period of 35 years (1985-2019). A flood database is created using information from the press showing that Douala is frequently flooded during the rainy season by V-shaped precipitating systems associated to the monsoon. We can thus observe an increase in the number of floods reported since the 2010s, which seems to be correlated with the evolution of the city's urban footprint. The recurrently flooded urban areas are most often informal neighbourhoods built directly in flood-prone areas and whose increase has been significant since the 1990s. The case study of the floods of August 2 and 3, 2000 in Douala indicates that there was a synoptic situation conducive to heavy rainfall. On the other hand, relative humidity is almost 99 % which requires the air to be saturated with water with a drop in temperature, which will cause a change of state. The purpose of this study is to reduce vulnerability by integrating populations and decision-makers at the heart of development strategies and urban risk management related to climatic hazards.

Résumé : Afin de mieux comprendre les causes de la crise hydrique des grandes villes de la Guinée malgré ses prédispositions naturelles qui lui offrent des ressources en eau très abondantes, nous analysons les déterminants de l’offre d’eau potable en utilisant les données de 1996 à 2019. Après avoir testé la stationnarité des variables, nous utilisons un modèle à correction d’erreur à la Engle-Granger estimé par les moindres carrés ordinaires. Les résultats montrent que la consommation d’eau, le tarif moyen appliqué et la population urbaine influencent significativement l’offre d’eau potable en Guinée alors que l’investissement ne l’impacte pas. Ainsi pour résoudre le problème hydrique en Guinée, les résultats de l’étude suggèrent des politiques allant dans le sens de l’accroissement de la consommation d’eau, un changement tarifaire à la hausse et la sensibilisation de la population à la gestion rationnelle des ressources d’eau à court terme, avec un investissement conséquent dans le secteur. Determinants of urban drinking water supply in Guinea Abstract: In order to better understand the causes of the water crisis in Guinea's major cities despite its natural predispositions that offer it very abundant water resources, we analyze the determinants of drinking water supply using data from 1996 to 2019. After testing the stationarity of the variables, we use an Engle-Granger error-correction model estimated by ordinary least squares. The results show that water consumption, average applied tariff and urban population significantly influence the supply of drinking water in Guinea, whereas investment does not. To solve the water problem in Guinea, the results of the study suggest policies aimed at increasing water consumption, increasing tariffs and raising public awareness of rational water resource management in the short term, with substantial investment in the sector. Governments have initiated wastewater treatment programs to solve the problem of water pollution. The goal is commendable, but the inevitable result is the production of sewage sludge which can be considered as waste. If it is buried, incinerated, or discharged in the sea, the problem is not solved and we are back to square one. Moreover, we have wasted a potentially useful substance. The only promising solution is the transformation of sewage sludge into fertilizers. This study shows that sewage sludge produced by water treatment plants can be used as an efficient forest fertilizer which increases the size and height of trees. The fertilization of larch tree samples in green houses using anaerobic sludge from the Valcartier Wastewater Treatment Plant resulted in a 300% increase in height and 210% increase in diameter. The role of culture in urban regeneration should be studied at different levels. Cultural mapping gives us a new understanding of the historical processes that have transformed public spaces in cities whose productive models and social relationships have undergone critical changes, affecting how they project their identity inside and outside their boundaries. Our research focuses on the case study of Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain). The first part of the analysis centres on a critical interpretation of the importance granted to cultural infrastructures in areas that were most intensely exposed to the changes which are known as the ‘Guggenheim effect’ on the international scene. This study especially examines the tension between today’s transformations and managing memories from the past. The second part analyses cultural mapping practices developed in emerging areas of the city such as the Zorrotzaurre peninsula, which is the new focus of the metropolitan development scheme. The proposals chosen for this study foster democratic responsibility in city management by using new technologies. They enable us take a closer look at some of the city’s most innovative collaborative cultural mapping practices, methodology and processes, as well as the theoretical frameworks that inspired them. Lastly, a proposal is put forth to implement participatory cultural mapping to identify the spillover effects of the cultural and creative industries located in renewed urban spaces.Keywords: cultural mapping, Bilbao, urban regeneration, social memory, creative citiesRésumé: Le rôle de la culture dans les stratégies de régénération urbaine devrait être étudié à plusieurs niveaux. La pratique de la cartographie culturelle révèle l’importance des processus historiques et des transformations identitaires à l’oeuvre dans les villes où les modèles productifs ont subi d’importantes mutations. Cet article met en évidence le cas de la ville de Bilbao dans le Pays basque espagnol. La première partie de cet article discute des incidences de « l’effet Guggenheim » sur l’ensemble des infrastructures culturelles de la ville. Cette partie met en relief la transformation et les enjeux mémoriels qui en découlent. La seconde partie de cet article discute de la cartographie culturelle de la péninsule de Zorrotzaurre, une partie de la vielle en pleine effervescence. Cet article adopte une attitude de responsabilisation démocratique dans son utilisation des nouvelles technologies pour la gestion municipale. The number of internet users in Indonesia is the main factor for businesses to use digital marketing to get consumers. Urbain inc. as a streetwear fashion brand has become one of the most popular brands among fashion connoisseurs. This study examines how the use of digital marketing by Urbain Inc in building brand awareness. This research uses a constructivist paradigm by using a qualitative method using primary and secondary data sources as well as observation. Data sources used include journals, publications, websites, and social media pages of Urbain inc. The results of the study show that the use of digital marketing as marketing including websites, e-commerce, and social media using the slogan "VS Everybody" is considered successful in building brand awareness. Because it can build people's top of minds Urbain inc. is a streetwear fashion brand that is strong in street culture elements. Instagram social media and e-commerce platforms as part of digital marketing have an important factor in building Urbain inc. brand awareness in the eyes of the public.

La dinámica de movilidad residencial, al igual que la de los desplazamientos cotidianos, refleja con fuerza la inscripción de las desigualdades en el espacio urbano. Sin embargo, estas dinámicas operan en diferentes escalas de tiempo y su análisis suele limitarse a un solo tipo de movilidad a la vez. El objetivo de este artículo es, precisamente, conciliar el análisis de la movilidad residencial con el de la movilidad cotidiana, cada uno de los cuales arroja luz sobre la división socioespacial de la metrópoli a su manera. A partir de los datos de la encuesta intercensal de 2015, este artículo propone elaborar una tipología socioespacial de los territorios de la ZMVM, a nivel municipal, vinculando las dinámicas de movilidad cotidiana y residencial con los contextos territoriales entendidos por las características de los habitantes.Abstract: In the Mexico City Metropolitan Area (MCMA), as in most Latin American metropolises, intra-urban mobility is the main driver of changes in the social division of space. The dynamics of residential mobility, as well as commuting, strongly reflect the inscription of inequalities in urban space. However, these dynamics operate on different time scales and their analysis is often limited to only one type of mobility at a time. The aim of this article is precisely to reconcile the analysis of residential mobility with that of everyday mobility, each of which sheds light on the socio-spatial division of the metropolis in its own way. Scene classification is essential conception task used by robotics for understanding the environmental. The outdoor scene like urban street scene is composing of image with depth having greater variety than iconic object image. The semantic segmentation is an important task for autonomous driving and mobile robotics applications because it introduces enormous information need for safe navigation and complex reasoning. This paper introduces a model for classification all pixel’s image and predicates the right object that contains this pixel. This model adapts famous network image classification VGG16 with fully convolution network (FCN-8) and transfer learned representation by fine tuning for doing segmentation. Skip Architecture is added between layers to combine coarse, semantic, and local appearance information to generate accurate segmentation. This model is robust and efficiency because it efficient consumes low memory and faster inference time for testing and training on Camvid dataset. The output module is designed by using a special computer equipped by GPU memory NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6G, and programmed by using python 3.7 programming language. The proposed system reached an accuracy 0.8804 and MIOU 73% on Camvid dataset.

Once considered as a “rural” phenomenon, issues pertaining to the occult have, at the height of globalization, become an “urban” problem. Witchcraft is particularly invoked to designate success; to provide information on individual and collective misfortunes, justifying battles against fetishes, misfortune, bad genies and all kinds of evil spirits leading to poverty, unemployment, bad luck or (a state of) being possessed. Increasingly since the nineties, the city has become the stage for Pentecostal effervescence. Preacher-healers have settled predominately in urban areas and play a crucial role in the reconstruction of sorcery’s collective imagery, updating magical-religious systems of reference; rehabilitating exorcism and devotion in matters of deliverance. Religious and magical justifications have become regular features of urban acts and behaviours. In this context, witchcraft distinguishes itself as a response to urban life and could even be one of its founding elements. What are its urban markers? How does it express itself in contemporary urban life? Using an in situ approach, active observation and semi-structured interviews – this research examines, from an ethnographical perspective, urban witchcraft as amplified by a Pentecostal discourse vector of anti-witchcraft violence.

This article discusses the understanding of urbanity invoked by the Norwegian drama series SKAM. It does so by revisiting the four short preambles to each of the series’ four seasons, thus outlining the central narratives used to frame each season. Norwegian culture is characterised by a long-lived tradition for valuing nature and life in the countryside over and above urban life. In this context, SKAM arguably appears as a sea change, using new media and narrative forms to aestheticize the life of a new generation of teenagers in Oslo. However, this article’s close reading of selected sequences of the series illuminates SKAM’s indebtedness to an anti-urban tradition. According to this tradition, the city centre is seen as dark and dangerous and full of corrupting temptations, and, in contrast, what lies outside the city is regarded as authentic, liberating and morally superior. What is at stake is a dual-sided evaluation of city and countryside – building on binaries such as genuine vs. superficial - which may be seen to mirror human emotions, ethical concerns and affects. In this way, SKAM becomes a vehicle for recirculating dual-sided understandings of the urban condition, which become evaluated according to well-known criteria.

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of organizational culture on employee performance at PT. Urbane Indonesia, to know the description of Organizational Culture at PT. Urbane Indonesia and to determine the level of employee performance at PT. Urbane Indonesia. This study uses descriptive and verification methods with a population of 67 employees and a sample of 67 employees. The analysis technique used is simple linear regression analysis. Hypothesis testing using t-test. The results of this study can be seen that the organizational culture together has a positive and significant effect on employee performance.

Abstract Urban and regional economists are often asked to construct central place models which will properly describe the urban hierarchy (in terms of the service sector) of the region which they are studying. In all such studies, the chief analytical problem is basically one of correctly defining (and measuring) tertiary activity and of correctly weighting the various functions which make up the service sector. In this paper, the authors review six alternative methods for measuring and weighting tertiary functions. The mathematical and conceptual properties of each approach are discussed and evaluated. In the second part of the article, the authors compare the actual results obtained by these alternative methods, using data on the Quebec urban system to test their results. They conclude that no one method is entirely satisfactory, each approach measuring a part of reality. But some methods do nevertheless seem to perform better than others: in this respect, the use of localization coefficient type approach seems generally to give the least biased results.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, the modern society has witnessed an increased mobility as a vector for new lifestyles of the "civilization of mobility". Tied with the impressive developments in the information and communication technologies, the concept of mobility continues to be a significant challenge that needs to be considered while planning the city or studying the society. Comparing the contemporary society to the past nomadic communities appears as an approach that would explore and decrypt some socio-spatial phenomena where rapid transformations would be otherwise difficult to analyze using non-comparative methodologies. This article attempts to revisit some similarities between the contemporary society and the nomadic society in relation to the issue of mobility. The similarities are then analyzed with regard to two key concepts which shape the social pattern on the territories: the spatial reference and the nature of social links. The article ends with an exploration of proposals on how to take into account the contemporary mobility, henceforth smart, at the level of urban planning policies.

Two percent of the world's surface use for cities, yet it consumes 75 percent of its resources. Urban farming is an emerging alternative food network that could supply some of the food needs in cities with less emission, healthier food, and the environment. Urbanis is a company that likes to contribute to the acceleration of urban farming, especially in Indonesia, by utilizing vacant land and labor. In 2021, Urbanis plans to scale up the production capacity to 10 tonnes per month or 400 kg per day. It requires us to have a warehouse to store the food product that has not been absorbed by the market. The purpose of this study is to find warehouse specifications for Urbanis and the amount of labor and rack inside the warehouse alongside capital and operational expenditure. This research uses a layout with an area of 5x14 meters for experimental design. The model then translated into a discrete-event simulation model named Anylogic. The results show, for each amount of arrival, the number of labor that utilizes effectively are two labors with a maximum number of rack 50. Given these results, the author conducted operational and capital expenditure, which consist of variable analysis and additional variables such as a table, fan, and chair. The result is Urbanis need Rp 50.738.000 for capital expenditure while Rp 10.871.337 for operational expenditure.

The issues of using transportation modeling for decision-making in urban planning are discussed using the example of Vinnytsia. Macro-simulation allows for analyzing overall traffic flow without reproducing the movement of individual vehicles in detail. It enables a quick evaluation of different scenarios for the development of the transportation network and determining the effectiveness of road traffic management strategies. The transportation model of the city enables analyzing the load on the road network in the current state and predicting this parameter for scenarios of implementing new infrastructure projects. Examples of load maps for the road network of Vinnytsia and an individual transport hub are shown from the transportation model of the city. Micro-modeling is the process of creating a mathematical model for a detailed analysis of vehicle movement in small areas (intersections, street sections, enterprise areas, etc.). An example of micro-modeling results for one intersection is presented. The application of micro-modeling in evaluating changes to the transportation network is an effective tool that allows municipalities to avoid inefficient use of funds and transportation mistakes that worsen traffic conditions. A list of tasks for micro and macro-modeling is analyzed. The main advantages and disadvantages of modeling and the risks that may arise from its use are described. The importance of the transportation model of the city is shown in both strategic and tactical approaches.

The problem addressed in this analysis is whether « routine activities » of drug dependent criminals are associated with the spatial concentration of crime committed by these criminals. This problem is tested in a series of analyses including an investigation of the spatial pattern of the residential burglaries committed by drug dependent burglars using W.A.V. Clark's spatial choice housing search models. While Clark used the home and work place as nodes in the housing search, we use the home and drug market place as nodes in the criminal search of drug addicts. If the addict supports his or her habit with property crime, these nodes are expected to be a focal point for criminal activity in a distance minimizing scenario. The data indicate that the spatial concentration of property crime about drug market places means that a « crime containment » policy practiced by many police agencies is doomed to failure. Property criminals will continue to probe outward from a containment area which encompasses a drug market place. In fact, drug dependent property criminals may act as a vanguard for spatially expanding drug markets. Drug sellers and drug dependent property criminals seem to operate in a symbiotic relationship.

Анотація:
The urban trees of the Chapultepec Country neighborhood in Guadalajara, Jalisco were studied in order to elaborate a forestmanagement model and through a Geographic Information System. The neighbourhood has a total amount of 32 blocks, 1 raisedmedian, 1 roundabout, 1 park, 1 traffic easement, with a surfae area of 49.95 hectares. A full census of the wooded area wasconducted and supported by thematic mapping, data gathering of enviromental and forestry variables, using a GPS Garmin eTrex 10every tree was georeferenced. Outstandig results; there are 1386 trees, from 81 different species that belong to 31 botanical families.The more prolific are Ficus benjamina, Thuja orientalis, Arecastrum romanzoffianum, Citrus aurantium y Cupressus sempervirens.The present condition of the regsstered trees revealed that 33.91% are healthy, 57.07% are in regular condition, 7.36% are in poorcondition and 1.66% are standing dead. On the basis of the elaborated database, the wooded area census thah includes forestryvariables, pruning necessities, phytosanitary condition of the trees and thematic cartography of the wooded areas status, a forestrymanagement program was developed specially for the urban trees of the neighbourhood that can be executed weekly or monthly bythe Park and Gardens brigades. A ratio of 9.16 mgreen area surface per citizen was found, this constitutes the minimum standardrecommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). There is a relationship of 3.03 trees per habitant, a much bigger amountthan the WHO’s standard, which points out that in order to obtain a better air quality in urban areas there must be a tree for everythree citizens.

Para el diseño y operación de cualquier servicio público, un elemento básico es determinar el número de personas a quienes se les prestará el servicio, no importando si es agua potable, drenajes, transporte o electricidad. Sin embargo, cuando los conglomerados urbanos son grandes o tienen ciudades dormitorio, la estimación de la población a servir se vuelve compleja, sobre todo porque los censos poblacionales por lo regular solo consideran la población residente en un territorio. Así, un distrito comercial o financiero puede tener una población residente relativamente pequeña, pero una población flotante considerable que, aunque solo trabaje, estudie o visite la zona, requiere los servicios básicos (agua, drenaje, etc.). Las mediciones de tráfico dan un valor global de cuántas personas ingresan a un municipio o territorio, pero difícilmente determinan cómo se distribuyen en las zonas urbanas. El modelo propuesto aprovecha las ventajas de los sistemas de información geográfica (SIG) para ubicar la demanda, calculando un estimado de la población a servir, en función de los metros cuadrados construidos y tipo de uso; esto permite no sólo determinar la población residente y flotante de una región, sino también sectorizar y delimitar áreas específicas para obtener los datos de población a servir en un sector, definiendo volúmenes de agua, redes, plantas potabilizadoras, tamaño de drenajes y descargas sanitarias, así como dimensionar plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales (PTAR), o necesidades de transporte y servicio eléctrico. El modelo se aplicó en la zona urbana del municipio de Guatemala, Guatemala, ubicado en América Central, obteniéndose la población residente y flotante por cada una de las zonas. El modelo permite definir la población flotante, estimarla a futuro con base en las proyecciones de área construida y ajustarlo conforme ocurran los cambios.

Cultural strategies have been commonly used to address the consequences of urban shrinkage, particularly in a post-industrial context. Proliferated growth-oriented models, such as “creative city,” have threatened the sustainable development of shrinking cities. Alternative cultural models that prioritize social inclusion, local sensitivity, and affordability are thus urgently needed. Using Riga as a case study, this paper explores the process of transformation to an alternative cultural strategy in a post-socialist shrinking city and identifies planning and governance tools that stimulate its development. Employing qualitative interviews and document analysis, the relations between emergent and deliberate cultural strategies are investigated. The results show how the organization of the European Capital of Culture 2014 during the severe shrinkage and economic crisis led to five elements of an alternative cultural strategy: (1) a shift from investing in cultural “hardware” to “software,” (2) a locally sensitive approach, (3) cultural decentralization, (4) strengthened civic engagement, and (5) inclusiveness. These elements of an emergent strategy were recognized by local authorities and stimulated changes in the deliberate cultural strategy. This study supports the idea that urban shrinkage offers municipalities an opportunity to reimagine traditional planning practices and emphasizes the important role of civic actors’ participation in coproducing public services and governance strategies.

In the 21st century, there is an escalating rate of road infrastructures in Global South cities transforming their physical and social compositions to a large extent. However, despite the literature pointing out that social fragmentation comes with the implementation of road infrastructures, little knowledge is known in respect to the nexus between road infrastructure projects and social fragmentation within peri-urban areas. This paper, therefore, used concurrent triangulation mixed-method design to understand the nexus between road infrastructure and social fragmentation within peri-urban communities in Accra, Ghana by using the case of the Accra-Kasoa road infrastructure expansion project. The findings indicate that the Accra-Kasoa infrastructure project indirectly triggers social fragmentation through the process of displacement of residents during its implementation, as the road created barriers that limited social interactions and social networks within and between residents in the studied communities. Moreover, the findings reveal that the social fragmentation in peri-urban communities is caused by other factors such as customary land tenure systems and changes in the housing tastes of residents in those communities. The findings of this paper inform policymakers not to see the emergence of social fragmentation as only being triggered by physical infrastructure systems but socio-cultural ones as well.
