Abstract The aim of this study is to find the cost design of RC tension with varying conditions using the Artificial Neural Network. Design constraints were used to cover all reliable design parameters, such as limiting cross sectional dimensions and; their reinforcement ratio and even the beahviour of optimally designed sections. The design of the RC tension members were made using Indian and European standard specifications which were discussed. The designed tension members according to both codes satisfy the strength and serviceability criteria. While no literature is available on the optimal design of RC tension members, the cross-sectional dimensions of the tension membersfor different grades of concrete and steel, and area of formwork are considered as the variables in the present optimum design model. A design example is explained and the results are presented. It is concluded that the proposed optimum design model yields rational, reliable, and practical designs.

Development of fast-neutron sodium-cooled Generation IV reactors is resulting in extremely severe environment conditions for cladding tubes [1]. Both temperature and irradiation level will increase compared to the nowadays conditions. Due to their characteristics in irradiated environment, the oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) ferritic and martensitic steels are natural candidate cladding materials[2]. However, they exhibit low deformation capabilities at room temperature, leading to problematic issues for forming such as pilgering. In order to improve the fabrication route for tubes, both metallurgical and numerical approaches can be conducted [3,4,5]. To reach predictive description of damage location and evolution, an adapated Latham and Cockoft model has been developed. This model is, of course, highly depending on the stress and strain prediction of the numerical model which itself is linked to the behavior law. In this work, we will describe an adapted material test developed in order to reproduce the cyclic, non uniform loading of the material during pilgering. An advanced cyclic beahvior law is introduced in the software. The model of Chaboche using 2 isotropic and 2 kinematic variables is chosen[6]. An inverse analysis procedure is used to identify both isotropic and kinematic hardening parameters. The results obtained using the identified behavior law are compared to both experimental observation and to other models including monotonic or cyclic laws identified on traditional test.

Polymeric cellular materials are used in many different application domains such as transport, sport, food, health and energy. Therefore, the conditions of use of these materials represent wide temperature and strain-rate ranges. The mechanical behaviour of these foams demonstrate a strong dependency to it. In order to be able to predict such dependency, its origin has to be better understood. For this study, a bio-based cellular material, agglomerated cork, has been chosen to evaluate the temperature and strain-rate dependency of the mechanical behaviour. The visco-elastic behaviour of the material was first studied between −80°C and 100°C at frequencies between 0.01 Hz and 100 Hz. The compressive mechanical behaviour was then studied on a large range of temperature (from −30°C to 100°C) and strain rates (from 4.2 10−5 s−1 to 1250 s−1). A specific set-up was finally used to operate dynamic tests at low and high temperature. These results were used to discuss the evolution of the mechanical beahviour with these environnemental conditions based on the knowledge of the mechanical behaviour of the constitutive materials.

Information Technologies keep developing and have steadily become available to a growing number of users. It is then necessary to emphasize importance on data security and employees mobility. Social engineering and quality management systems in organizations are directly connected with the use of the latest Information Exchange Technologies. In the paper the author has researched common tendencies of social groups beahviour in relation to following rules of data security and employees reaction to implementation of latest Technologies in organisation. The results of the research are discussed in the conclusions section and are expected to impact potential implementation strategies for IT in organisations.

Seeking knowledge is among the most important virtuein Islam. The Internet era offers more sources and new ways in gaining and producing information including religious information. However, the perception that the religious information behaviour among the Malays is not yet being studied empirically. A framework has been developed based on theories, previous related studies and interviews with Internet users. Three main aspects of behaviour being studied: usage, information seeking and verification. Data is collected using printed and electronic questionnaires. There are 616 usable data successfully gathered and analyzed through SPSS. Related to usage, the result shows that the Malays have adapted well with the Internet medium for searching the religious information. The results also show that there are changes on the technical aspect of information acquisition and delivery via the new media. However from the procedural aspect, the information behaviour among Malays are still traditional in nature based on their seeking information methods. The results suggest that the religious offline behaviour continues online, demonstrating their conservative nature. Analyzing the beahviour against the users’ background suggests that there is a statically relationship between them. A high percentage of users claimed that the verify online religious information, even though they differ on this in practice. This paper ends with recommendations to improve the information behaviour among the masses

As per the WHO data doctor to patient availability in India is very low which creates a burden on the medical staff and infrastructure. This show the country needs modern day technological intervention to share the burden, mobile health application is one of such intervention. In the published report of PWC, it has been mentioned that mobile health applications on one hand are not widely accepted by consumers even though mobiles are quite handy things these days. On the other hand, it has been in a better position from the past due to more features available. This has made us study the behavioral patterns of the users why and how they and for what they are using these apps and in what regularity. Our main study focuses on developing an interactive dashboard which takes the inputs as CSV files and gives the handy tool to the user, to interact with it and find out which app is more popular and for what purpose it’s being used. The Power BI dashboard has been created by using measures and calculated columns to define the data in more appropriate ways. Both of these things entail DAX (Data Expression Language) which can convert Data into more meaningful. Furthermore, Hotspot, Near and Drive time area analysis using Arc GIS Online platform has been done to find the hospitals and user’s relation based on their location. Results have shown us that dashboard is working fine and gives correct outputs. The dashboard in future can be linked to a server which fetches the live data and can give real insights at a moment to understand the behavior of the end-user and we can understand the patterns of users. Furthermore, the future scope of the dashboard lies in the fact that it can be linked to live medical facility data which shows bed availability, type of specialization available and to give the user a option to take medical services through app.

In this paper, four types of micro-patterned surfaces, which are covered with ridge-shaped grooves, V-shaped grooves, shield-shaped grooves and straight slot grooves, are employed to investigate the drag reduction effect. Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM), a new numerical approach on mescoscopic level, is used to conduct the numerical simulations. The micro-grooved surfaces possess the drag reduction performance because the micro-structure affects the flow beahviours. The existence of the vortices formed within the grooves not only decrease the shear force between fluid and walls but also reduce the contact area between fluid and walls, which can lead to a reduction of pressure loss. The different grooved-surfaces have different degrees of drag reduction abilities: ridge-shaped grooves > V-shaped grooves > shield shaped grooves > straight slot grooves. Besides, the geometrical optimizations for the ridge-shaped grooves, which show the highest drag reduction performance, are performed as well. The results suggest that, for the purpose of drag reduction, the ridge-shaped grooves with smaller width-height ratio are recommended for the lower Reynolds number flow while the ridge-shape grooves with larger width-height ratio are more suitable for the larger Reynolds number flow.
