This thesis deals with the socio-historical formation of a socialist single-party state in a formerly colonized country: Vietnam. In order to grasp the specificity of Vietnamese communism, we study the agents of the communist ideology diffusion, the impact of anti-colonialism and war, the various forms of influence exercised by the Soviet and the Chinese communists between 1919 and 1991, as well as the processes of appropriation and resistance caused by this new form of domination. Our inquiry relies on various Russian, Chinese, American and French archival documents, and on a large array of printed sources in Vietnamese. It shows that, no matter the state of their relations with Moscow and Beijing, the Vietnamese communists continuously drew their inspiration from the Soviet and Chinese models. Though the observed transfers were born out of constraint at two founding moments, they resulted mostly from a permanent inclination to mimic. The Vietnamese party-state differs little from the Soviet and the Chinese models in its organization and its modes of governance. Its resemblance is mainly due to the Vietnamese communists’ fidelity to the Leninist model, as well as to the doctrinal rigidity and practical nature of the communist ideology. However, there is one domain in which the Vietnamese communists asserted specificity: the nation-building process. If their policies of ethnic homogenization and territorial administration are reminiscent of the Soviet and Chinese practices, their willingness to create a supra-national state and to recast the historical discourse also signals the persistence of some domination schemes and forms of racism, inherited from the colonial period
Libessart, Gwendal. "Modélisation prédictive des propriétés des sols urbains basée sur leur historique d'usages." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université de Lorraine, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022LORR0120.
Land take and the associated environmental issues (heat islands, flooding, biodiversity degradation) have become a major issue in urban planning and development. The objective of this thesis is to propose an approach to characterise urban soils based on the analysis of their historical trajectory of land use, considering that the land use successions and the associated human practices determine the physico-chemical properties of soils. To do this, a scientific approach based on three complementary approaches was carried out to achieve an operational methodological proposal for predictive mapping of urban soil properties. The first approach is cartographic and documentary, and aims to better characterise the historical trajectories of urban soils and thus to better understand all of the human practices that the soils have undergone over time. It turns out that twenty historical trajectories are sufficient to describe the majority of the surface area of an urban unit. Moreover, the majority of historical trajectories represent land use successions composed of a maximum of one or two land uses, showing a low dynamic of land use changes and practices over time. The second approach is a field approach aimed at characterising the impact of three historical trajectories representative of urban soils on the physico-chemical properties of soils. It highlights the link between the historical trajectory of a soil and its physical and chemical properties. The impact of human practices on soil properties also appears to be dependent on the intensity of the practices carried out on the soil. These links, which are still underdeveloped, could be highlighted by the development of a new concept: the "anthroposequence". The last approach is an experimental approach that helps to characterise the pedogenetic processes involved during these historical trajectories and to describe the evolution of physico-chemical properties over time. It shows that the individual effects of practices can be contrary to the effect resulting from the whole of these practices. Moreover, the pedogenetic processes put forward during these experiments reflect the reality of the field, thus reinforcing the proposed experimental method. Thus, these three methodological approaches were finally discussed in order to transcribe the results obtained into "simple" rules allowing the cartographic prediction of soil types and certain agronomic parameters in urban environments through the knowledge of historical trajectories
Hazard, Benoit. "L' aventure des Bisa dans les ghettos de "l'Or rouge" (Burkina Faso-Italie) : trajectoire historique et recomposition des réseaux migratoires burkinabe dans la région des Pouilles." Paris, EHESS, 2007. http://www.theses.fr/2007EHES0296.
This thesis describes the organization of migratory networks connecting the province of Boulgou (Burkina Faso) to Italy. Regarding the interactions between a local context, "bisaku", and the social group of "the sons of Italy", it questions a "travelling culture" by discussing, alternately, a framework proposed by the transnational studies and the network's analysis. Anchored on a multi-sited ethnography, it brings to light the redeployment of a circular migration within the frame of a transmigration operated from Ivory Coast towards Italy. This process leads to describe a local society through its multiple locations and more precisely through places representing an African Diaspora that the Burkinabé name as "ghetto". Altough Bisa perceives these camps of agricultural labourers as "etnoscape", the Mafia practices observed in the fields of tomatoes of the region of Pouilles, as that of the "caponeri" show that the agency of African do not resist to the orders of the local context
Khosravi, Behnaz. "La pluralité des formes culturelles légitimes en Iran : la distinction en question." Thesis, Lyon, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018LYSE2109.
By looking through the history of Iranian society throughout the twentieth century, we are struck by the brutal and rapid social, demographic, political and economic transformations. Based on this observation, this thesis attempts to reconstruct the plurality of legitimate cultural forms resulting from a state of crisis along with a lasting and structural instability (structural changes in socializing institutions, multiple downgrades and reclassifications of social positions, lack of stabilization orimposition of a legitimate culture). The analysis is founded on a macro-sociological approach, on one hand, based on the history of rapid mutations in Iranian society in order to trace their impact on social stratification, notably the composition of the dominant classes of society, and on the other, grounded on a corpus of statistical data at the national level in order to draw the schema of the Iranian social space where are positioned the different social groups characterized by their economic and educational capital, as well as by their cultural tastes and practices or their religious and political orientations. In the second part, this thesis is based on over twenty interviews with persons who belong to the dominant classes in order to reconstruct their life trajectory, to show their socialization processes during a history of breaks, and to highlight the social conditions of building a plurality of legitimate cultural forms in Iran

This work proposes to study the Charente river, a low-energy river, between Angoulême and Saintes for enhance knowledge on the functioning of low-energy rivers and in particular the anastomosis. The main aims are to analyze the evolutionary trajectory of the Charente river on a multisecular timescale and identify the anthropogenic controls, geomorphological heritages and hydro-climatic variability in its trajectory ; and explain the genesis and the conservation of the anastomosis on the upstream section (Angoulême-Cognac). The method is based on a geohistorical, geomorphometrical and geomorphological approach. Results show a fluvial metamorphosis from a braiding pattern pre-Holocene to anastomosing pattern on the upstream section; a simplification of anastomosing pattern potentially begin to the Final Neolithic and the Bronze Age; a fluvio-marine influence on the downstream section during the Atlantic and the mid-Subboreal; and 4) a documentary hiatus on the rapid climate change periods. Geohistoric results expose a global stability of fluvial forms over the recent period and probably on the long-term. This conclusion needs to be nuanced. Results highlight 1) a simplification of the pattern fluvial between the recent period (mainly late 18th / late 20th centuries) dependent on the anthropisation trajectory of river and the hydro-climatic variability and 2) a complexification of the fluvial mosaic at local level during the 20th century attributed to cessation of river maintenance practices and variations of flood regime

This thesis deals with the question of the conditions that made possible the unlikely entry of Aborigines into the Australian political field at the end of the 1960s. Drawing both on a socio-historical approach, which interrogates State practices of "identification", and on an ethnographic pont of view, focusing on the ordinary practices of individuals, this project is organised around three parts. The first two parts deal with the processes of social relegation to which Aborigines were subjected in colonial Australia. They attempt to reconstruct the system of "race relations" that was prevailing during most of the 20th century (focussing on the production of categories and on the power relationships between those categories). The third part details the trajectories of the actors of the Black Power movement, in order to understand the social conditions that made it possible for them to 'rebel' and enter the political field

The municipal elections of November 2003 marked the beginning of a period in whixh, from a socio-historic and political point of view was considered new in the recent history of Mozambique. This date represented the taking of the local political power by Renamo in municipalities siruated in the coastal region of the Nampula province. Frelimo for the first time since independence in 1975 became the opposition party in this region. How can we explain this electoral position ? From an essentially socio-historical and political approach, this thesis seeks to understand the political behaviour of the cities of Angoche, one of the biggest Moslem slave sultanates of East Africa ; of Mozambique Island the first capital of Mozambique ; and of Nacala Porto. It is a region of deep biological and cultural mix, the heart of colonial Mozambique and core of two old elites (islamo-creole and afro-damanien), carriers of a very ancient urban civilization. Nevertheless, the study of local political trajectories of these cities, identical phenomena and migrations allowed discerning the existence of a culture. A culture which was "invented" around the monk and attached to specific individual spaces was able to show itself within the framework of the political decentralization (Municipalisation). It is the successive religious, polititical and economic process of marginalization, first with the colonial modern State and later with the modern State Frelimo that gave sense to the vote of the elites and the populationss of this region in favour of Renamo
