The purpose of the article is the scientific substantiation of theoretical and practical provisions regarding the development of the recreational and tourist industry of European countries in the context of modern transformational changes in the world economy. Research methods. General scientific and special methods of scientific knowledge of empirical and theoretical levels of research are used to study transformational processes in the recreational and tourist industry of European countries at the current stage of development. Results of the article. The article examines the peculiarities of the impact of transformational processes on the development of the recreational and tourist industry of European countries, studying their experience for practical implementation in Ukraine. Field of application of results. The results of the study can be used by enterprises of the recreation and tourism industry of Ukraine, institutions of higher education, united territorial communities of the country and all interested persons in this issue. Conclusions. The recreational and tourist industry of European countries is a priority direction for the development of their economies and cultures. The European region is the most attractive for tourists, and the countries of Western and Southern Europe are distinguished by the highest and most effective level of use of recreational and touristic potential. Rich natural recreational resources, a significant number of cities with historical, architectural monuments, artistic and cultural values attract about 59% of the planet's tourists. According to the World Tourism Organization, the leaders in the number of tourists and vacationers in Europe are France, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy and Greece [3]. The experience of European countries proves that the participation of the state in the development of the recreational and tourist industry, where centralized regulation solves a number of problems of the spontaneous market economy in favor of the sustainable (balanced) development of this sphere of activity, is the most acceptable for Ukraine as well, since our country has a high level of provision of natural and historical and cultural values for proper socio-economic development due to recreation and tourism, taking into account the fact that post-war economic reconstruction, as a result of Russian aggression, will last for years.

The attractiveness of hotels in the perception of buyers of tourist services: The example of Turkey The emergence of leisure time, as well as transformational changes taking place in Poland, meant that Polish tourists could start travelling to other countries for tourism. This article attempts to answer questions about what constitutes a high standard for visitors leaving, which is associated with their disappointment with the purchased offer. These issues were related to the country which for years was eagerly visited by tourists from Poland, and in 2018 returned to the top of the ranking of preferred destinations — Turkey. Research based on secondary data analysis has allowed the author to look at issues that have an impact on the tourist attractiveness of a given country, but first and foremost, it has made it possible to decode factors that are important to travelers and which are less important during a leisure stay.

The article examines the key aspects of the prospects of the post-crisis strategic development of the domestic tourism industry after the end of the military conflict – the test of the XXI century, based on the transformational transformations of the industry. The main obstacles of geopolitical instability, which have a significant impact on the formation of the potential of the tourist flow at both the micro and macro levels, are systematized. These include the outflow of sources of funding from the tourism sector of Ukraine, the high risk of staying in certain territories, incomplete reform of the industry in accordance with EU directives, the priority of providing free transportation for the state in military, volunteer or humanitarian areas, etc. A detailed analysis of tax revenues to the state treasury and key statistical indicators of tourism activity in 2023 in accordance with previous years was conducted. A number of reliable and dangerous regions of Ukraine have been identified for planning trips by tourists in compliance with the peculiarities of recreation and tourist activities - permits and restrictions regarding the organization of routes in accordance with the curfew and taking into account the presence of bomb shelters, etc. In addition, it was found that the current dynamics of the tourist flow within the state is characterized by a sharp reduction in the number of visits by tourists from other countries, and the external domestic tourism itself is maintained thanks to the work trips of foreign diplomats, public activists, volunteers, and representatives of mass media. It was found that the deployed military actions on the territory of Ukraine have a serious economic impact on the recovery of international tourism in general. Priority anti-crisis directions for the reconstruction of the studied sphere are proposed in order to ensure the harmonious growth of all regions of Ukraine, taking into account the set goals. The main ones are the formation of state media interest on the part of foreign countries and tourists; building a mass PR company in previously unknown territories; updating the tourism branding of the state with the basis that the safety and protection of tourists is a priority.

At present, ecological tourism as a priority area of the regional economy needs transformational transformations that will help increase the tourist competitiveness of the regions of Ukraine and sustainable development of territories. The purpose of this study is a comparative analysis of strategic documents in the development of ecotourism and infrastructure, taking into account regional characteristics. To achieve this goal, methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, structural and logical analysis were used. The article analyses the strategies of regional development for 2021-2027. Based on the analysis, it is established that in a significant number of strategic documents the priority areas include accelerating the achievement of competitiveness and innovation of the region’s economy on the basis of smart specialization. Regional strategies do not address the creation of appropriate conditions for the formation of the institutional environment for the development of ecotourism. Only in the Development Strategies of Lviv and Odesa oblasts, among the strategic goals, tourist attractiveness is recognized due to the formation of the appropriate infrastructure. At the same time, the term “rural green tourism” is most often used in tourism and recreation development programs implemented in most regions of Ukraine. It is proved that there are differences and inaccuracies in the applied terminology on the problems of ecotourism. The programs usually talk about the formation of tourist infrastructure, but do not say anything about the creation of ecotourism infrastructure. The mechanisms of organizational, economic, informational, financial support for the development of ecotourism activities are not prescribed. Therefore, it is expedient to make changes and additions to the Strategies of regional development until 2027 and programs for the development of tourism and recreation, the content of which is to include a set of measures to intensify the development of ecotourism and the formation of ecotourism infrastructure. This will create a positive tourist image of the regions of Ukraine; increase their competitiveness and investment attractiveness; to ensure the growth of employment and the share of tax revenues from business activities in the ecotourism sector; increase the number of domestic tourists, including “weekend” tourists, sales of regional tourist products, the number of tourist routes, the number of newly created ecotourism and recreational facilities, the number of employees in the tourism industry.

Wellbeing has been researched in relation to social, wellness, rural, backpacker, senior, wildlife, transformational or transformative tourism or studies exist specifically focusing on wellbeing tourism. Surprisingly enough, there is a void of research focus on wellbeing in cultural tourism, although culture has been considered as having a substantial impact on wellbeing. The research uses the case study of the Museum of Broken Relationships (MBR) in Zagreb, Croatia, under the assumption that MBR experiences have a relevant influence on tourists’ subjective wellbeing. Subjective wellbeing was measured after the visitation using the Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS) and a majority of the respondents experienced moderate to high wellbeing. Furthermore, the research aimed to investigate whether or not there is any difference between cultural and non-cultural tourists’ subjective wellbeing noted after the visitation to the Museum. The results showed that there was no substantial difference between cultural and non-cultural tourists’ subjective wellbeing.

Venice is one of the most famous iconic destinations and one of the most emblematic cases of overtourism affecting a historic city. Here, social movements against tourism have emerged as a reaction to vastly unsustainable tourist flows that have had dramatic and transformational impacts on Venetians’ lives. The aim of this paper is to investigate how tourism transforms the social, cultural, and everyday geographies of the city. The effects of tourism on the historic city are conceived as a process of continuous transformation and repositioning. Taking into consideration the most tangible daily practices of tourists (eating, sleeping, and buying) and the finer dynamics of Venice’s tourism problem, we translate data on these practices into a temporal and spatial analysis to better understand how dynamic the texture of the city is in relation to the tourism subsystem. A comparison between 2008 and 2019 is conducted to evaluate the impact of tourism on residential uses of the city and measure the sustainability of growth of the tourism facilities. The investigation highlighted an impressive accommodation’s growth, from 8.249 in 2008 to 49.260 in 2019 of bed places (497% growth) in the entire historical city, a similar expansion is also evident in the total number of restaurants that has increased by 160% in all districts and a variations of 4% in shops instead of a population decline of −13% in the same period. In addition, a residents’ survey in spring 2019 was conducted to better understand the intensity of these impacts and the motives for depopulation and the anti-tourism movements. We focus on how tourism, if not managed and planned, radically changes the social and urban structures of the city and the lives of local residents. We conclude by presenting some local theoretical and practical insights into the touristic pressure, provided by citizens’ associations on one side and policymakers on the other.

Introduction. The tourism industry is the most profitable industry in the region and the most pro-fitable part of the budgets of various kinds. Since the tourism market is considered as an important socio-economic component of the region, we propose to summarize its substantive characteristics as a market in which the processes of purchase and sale of different types of tourism services are coordinated given the socio-economic characteristics of the region between its subjects. The purpose of this article is to research regulatory and legal peculiarities of regional markets of tourist service activities in Ukraine. Results. The rapid development of regional tourism markets is associated with the failure and spontaneity of the following processes in Ukraine: the emergence of the fourth technological method of production; expanding the range of cognitive, therapeutic and other conscious needs of the tourist offer by the consumer; the emergence of globalization, innovation and digitalization of society; priority of formation of international contact agreements and interacting agreements; growth of consumer profitability. For the efficiency of regulation of the tourist market, there should be a constant relationship between the service sector, hotel and accommodation establishments and the subjects of the tourist market. Tour agents and tour operators are the executive branch of the tourist market. The legislative link is local authorities, which are subordinated to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. Conclusions. Transformational shifts in the economic system of our country, structurally improved policy, increasing incomes have become a prerequisite for improving the tourism market. This has led to changes in the permitting system of tourism business through the use of licensed and certified approaches to tourism, which should ensure the highest quality of tourism services themselves. To avoid the shortcomings, a number of measures should be taken: limit VAT on imported equipment; simplify the procedure for obtaining a license by tourism entities; reduce taxes on tourism entities that implement modernization of facilities. Key words: regulatory and legal support, regional tourist markets, tourist service, regulation of activity, tourism infrastructure.

The issue of Holocaust tourism might be a quite sensitive, but nevertheless very important topic in the domain of the Holocaust remembrance. As tourism is often associated with leisure activities, it is quite challenging to put tourism into darker contexts of history and death. Also, different people coming to the Holocaust-related places with different motives make the issue of designing educational tours even more complex. This paper will try to expose questions related to dark tourism, Holocaust tourism, auratic memorial places, and to discuss ethical approaches to the Holocaust memory in the beginning of the 21st century. The text argues for the tourist experience as a memorable and educational tool with an active transformational potential, which will turn the visitor into a witness who further contributes to survival of the legacy of the Holocaust in the future.

Purpose This study aims to explore the high turnover intention issue in Taiwan’s tourist hotel industry. Due to a lack of empirical research regarding front-line employees’ psychological contract breach perceptions in tourism literature, this study develops an integrated model to examine the causal relationship among transformational leadership behaviors, leader–member exchange (LMX), psychological contract breach and turnover intentions. Design/methodology/approach Data from the 226 frontline employees in Taiwan’s tourist hotel industry were employed to examine the proposed hypotheses by using a series of structural equation modeling analyses. Findings Statistic results revealed that transformational leadership behaviors influence LMX and LMX in turn influences psychological contract breach, which consequently leads to lower turnover intention. Practical implication The results of this study suggest that hospitality organizations should recruit individuals who have the potential to exhibit transformational leadership skills, along with designing leadership training programs for middle- and high-level managers. Originality/value This study provides hospitality organization leaders with the necessary information to formulate a beneficial relationship with their front-line employees, which, in turn, weakens their perception of psychological contract breaches and reduces their willingness to leave the organization.

Tourists visit wine and culinary destinations for unique, geographically indicated experiences that are place specific. The objective of this research is to understand how the transformational potential of experiential wine and culinary tourism best promotes sustainability in the context of international educational travel. Our case study in the iconic Chianti Region of Italy applies a ‘Hopeful Tourism Enquiry’ perspective and focuses on participatory, co-transformative learning, and mindful sustainability. A mixed qualitative research strategy was implemented that integrates the results of in-depth interviews with industry experts, excerpts from expository travel journals simultaneously captured during the experience, and focus group dialogues with participating students at the end of the field course. This case study revealed three overlapping thematic results that illustrate the influence of experiential educational tourism on the sensory and cultural experience of sustainable food and wine to produce co-transformative learning. The co-creation of memorable experiences establishes a unique sensual representation of provenance through the interaction with the region through narrative so that not only is the food and wine being consumed, but also the consumption of place through the storyscape of a positive and memorable experience.

Tourism is a significant contributor to economic growth in many countries, and especially in developing countries. However, the outbreak of the Covid-19 has resulted in a global economic crisis that has significantly impacted global tourism. As a result, the ability of tourism businesses to survive and recover in this turbulent business environment, that is, their resilience has attracted greater research attention. While there has been some researches on the resilience of tourism enterprises during the COVID-19 pandemic, very few empirical studies have focused on the impact of leadership on organizational resilience. Therefore, to empirically explore the influence mechanism of transformational leadership on tourism organizational resilience during the pandemic, a questionnaire was conducted on 302 tourism business owners and managers in Sichuan Province, China, in October 2022. The analysis revealed that transformational leadership positively influenced organizational resilience. The three dimensions group voice climate, organizational culture and organizational learning partially mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational resilience. Perceived environmental uncertainty plays a positive moderating role in the relationship between transformational leadership, organizational culture and organizational learning. Several suggestions are given to enhance the resilience of tourism enterprises and accelerate industry recovery.

Furthermore, the study was able to identify conceptual business models that describe the specific characteristics and components of the different types of youth tourism: close interaction between tour operator, travel agency and end consumer based on the use of digital solutions; partial involvement of tour operators and travel agencies in the design of the tourist offer or without; involvement of third parties not directly connected with the tourism market; the presence of a large number of intermediaries; pronounced customization of services; participation of the main players in the tourist market of service organizations through intermediaries; organization of trips without physical departure using digital tools; close interaction of individuals in the process of organizing trips based on digital platforms. In the work, a scientometric and content analysis of search queries was conducted to identify important research areas within the framework of the scientific problems considered by the authors (the total amount of information used for the study was 4309 scientific documents; at the same time, the number of search queries processed in Google Trends was 4 units with an average observation period of 5 years); in addition, the distinguishing features of classic and innovative business models, including those related to the tourism business, were identified, a matrix for the correspondence of conceptual and specific business models of youth tourism was created, as well as their distribution according to three selected criteria: the level of formation of tourist interest and personalization, the degree of involvement of the tourist in the process of providing tourist services. It is also important to note that based on the results of the study, a conceptual scheme for the correlation of organizational functions and the formation of structural units and organizational links within a tourism company in the selection of the optimal innovative business model for youth tourism was developed.

The tourism industry has been badly affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. The policy of limiting tourism travel activities has led to uncertainty in the tourism business. Besides, tourism industry workers are at high risk of contracting the Covid 19 virus because tourism services must be done directly with tourists. Many workers in the tourism industry experience work stress due to the Covid 19 pandemic. This systematic literature review study examines tourism worker stress due to the Covid 9 pandemic. The literature review method uses a cross-sectional search of health, tourism, and management articles. The search results were eight articles selected by Prisma Chart with defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of a systematic literature review study revealed that the perceived threat of the Covid 19 virus causes fear and worry about being infected. Another factor that causes stress for tourism workers regarding job insecurity is perceived uncertain job continuity. Experienced work stress has an impact on decreasing job satisfaction and well-being, then can increase the turnover intention of workers from the company. Several strategies can be implemented to reduce work stress by providing self-protection tools, service rules, adjusting work assignments, and preparing transformational leadership to increase the company's resilience in facing various external conditions.

The article is aimed at identifying the peculiarities of urban tourism functioning and the main challenges caused by the full-scale war in Ukraine. The relevance of the study is stipulated by the need to understand the main transformational changes in tourism in Ukraine during the war and in the post-war period. The purpose of the study is to analyse the prospects for the development of urban tourism and the main challenges caused by military operations in Ukraine. In order to achieve this goal, we will focus on two key tasks: analyzing the problems caused by Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and identifying the main challenges faced by urban tourism in Ukraine, both during the war and in the post-war period. Despite the difficult situation in the country, it has been established that urban tourism continues to function in relatively safe cities. In addition to rather small domestic tourism, "non-traditional" inbound tourism has begun to develop in the form of visits by delegations of representatives of governments, international organisations, NGOs, volunteers, and military journalists. The study found that the main challenges of today are due to the need to strengthen security measures, take into account the availability of bomb shelters and shelters when visiting cities, and organize excursions. In this regard, there is a growing need to find ways to transform the tourist offer, increase the use of Internet technologies in the tourism sector and develop new approaches to promoting the tourist offer of urban tourism. One of the key tasks today and in the future is to develop adaptive and inclusive tourism in Ukrainian cities.

The paper is devoted to the analysis of world trends in tourism development in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Climate change, declining drinking water levels, and high concentrations of greenhouse gases are forcing people and businesses to think about using new methods to reduce their impact on the environment. The circular economy must become a lifeline and change the behavior of the world's population. The COVID-19 pandemic has almost completely stopped all life on earth. At one point, air traffic stopped, sea and river cruises, entire cities and countries were closed for quarantine. The pandemic made all residents think and rethink everyday life, attitude to travel and nature. Tourism even now remains one of the sectors most affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and the outlook remains rather uncertain. Life will not be the same as it used to be. The pandemic has significantly affected every sector of the tourism industry: airlines, transport, cruise lines, hotels, restaurants, attractions (such as national parks, protected areas and cultural heritage sites), travel agencies, tour operators. Small and medium-sized enterprises, which make up a large informal tourism sector, make up about 80 per cent of the tourism sector, and many of them may not survive the crisis without significant support. In the future, not only the format of travel will change, but also our attitude to them: vacation planning will have to be approached more consciously and take into account many factors. Tourism was one of the first sectors to be deeply impacted by the pandemic, as measures introduced to contain the virus led to a near-complete cessation of tourism activities around the world. The sector also risks being among one of the last to recover, with the ongoing travel restrictions and the global recession. This has consequences beyond the tourism economy, with the many other sectors that support, and are supported by, tourism also significantly impacted. Therefore, the paper considers the trends of tourism development in the world, as well as the application of the principles of the circular economy in this area. various macro-environmental factors force the tourism industry and tourists to change their preferences and tastes. Global and European trends include safety and hygiene when traveling, the growth of contactless payments, the spread of local tourism, healthy and organic food, the use of virtual reality, robots, chatbots and process automation. In addition, ecological, rural and transformational tourism is gaining popularity among tourist destinations.

The article is devoted to the geographic analysis and evaluation of the development of tourism in Luhansk region in the context of the current conflict. The aim of this report is to monitor the state of tourism in Luhansk region, which is especially relevant in this transformational period. We used research methodology which combines the philosophical and general scientific principles that form the methodological principles of scientific research and include a number of laws and categories. Analytical, statistical, comparative-geographical, historical methods of research were used. We considered in chronological order the formation of tourism in the region. The state of tourism in the region under the conditions of the conflict is analyzed. It is revealed that the current state of tourism is that of crisis, but there are positive prospects for development. The geographical possibilities of tourism development at the present stage are substantiated. It is proposed to develop the most promising types of tourism. The scientific novelty is due to choice of theme itself, because geographers devote insufficient attention to the study of tourism development issues in the context of the conflict. For the first time , a geographic analysis of the status of tourism of Luhansk region in the conditions of the conflict is presented. The methods of comprehensive assessment of tourism development at the regional level have been improved with the use of quantitative and qualitative indicators, which allows us to determine the directions of tourist development in the region. The existing information on the influence of the conflict period on tourism development is supplemented. For the first time, a comprehensive analysis of the status of tourism in Luhansk region was carried out for different periods: at the beginning of the conflict and during the conflict, which showed that Ukraine’s image as a place of conflict led to the emergence of new social-geographical features of the development of tourism in the east of Ukraine. It is revealed that the conflict has led to instability in the development of tourism, tourists who are worried about their safety refuse to visit a conflicted country or region. This inevitably leads to a decrease in the number of international tourist arrivals and revenues from tourism, a decrease in the number of objects of tourism and of collective accommodation facilities. It is determined that the attractiveness for tourism and image of the eastern region is almost lost as a result of the conflict. It is proved that the conflict negatively impacted the development of the tourism industry in the region, namely, all types of tourism suffered, significantly reducing the total number of tourists. It is determined that tourism in the post-conflict period may become a promising direction of economic development of the eastern regions of Ukraine. The main provisions, factual material and conclusions of the article can be used for further research on the development of tourism in Luhansk region and the creation of a concept for overcoming the negative consequences of the conflict of 2014-2019 in Ukraine for the development of the national tourism industry.

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of tourists’ needs for healing experience (NHE) on behavioral intentions for transformation (BIT) with healing involvement (HI) as a mediator. Using the two sub-constructs of BIT in the tourism industry (i.e. selection of healing tour products and transformational intention of healing tour behavior), this study evaluates BIT. Design/methodology/approach – The survey was administered to visitors in healing resorts/centers in Korea; 383 completed surveys were used to investigate the hypothesized relationships of this study using regression analysis. Findings – The study results confirmed the hypothesized relationships: the positive effects of NHE on BIT and the significant mediating role of HI in the relationships between NHE and BIT. Practical implications – The relationships among NHE, HI and BIT can improve the understanding and practices of healing experience and the development of healing products in the tourism industry. This study offers a meaningful and extended perspective on customers’ experience and product development by interpreting customers’ desires and needs. Originality/value – This study explores the under-researched subject of NHE and HI from a transformative economic perspective. The study is among the first to examine the structural relationships among NHE, HI and BIT. The uniqueness of the study is highlighted by the use of two sub-dimensions of the BIT industry (i.e. selection of healing tour products and transformational intention of healing tour behavior) in a tourism context.

It made the society more open minded. When tourism brought foreign culture inside, it also threated the local society organizational system. Other impact was the livelihood of the local society can be widely known, but it also potentially faded the originality of the culture itself by the tourist. In the language aspect, tourism helped Javanese Language and Javanese Script to be widely used especially in tourism activity. From the negative side, local language also had to compete with foreign language. The effect of tourism development in the field of art was that it brought art closer to society, but foreign art and culture can also rub the local art and culture.

The article is devoted to study the role of intangible cultural heritage in the development of modern urban areas. Modern cities are experiencing a transformational load associated with the transition from industry to the post-in- dustry – service industry comes on the place of the plants, and one of the leading sectors becomes tourism. Social and environmental factors on the one hand, reflect the general level of development of the city and, on the other hand, in a post-industrial economy are the main actors in the development of all areas, including city tourism. Intangible cultural heritage is seen as a social factor, the formation of which is related to the environment (natural- ecological spheres), and history of the city. Intangible cultural heritage serves as a catalyst for the creative economy and the events of the city, which in turn have a positive impact on city tourism. The city squares, streets, parks are becoming the immediate territorial areas, where the intangible cultural heritage are demonstrated to the citizens and tourists and their level of status, comfort and attractiveness depends largely on the implementation of the tourism potential of the intangible heritage. Cities skillfully combining the intangible heritage, creative industries, event and educational tourism receive an additional impulse for the development of city tourism and the whole economy of the city. The Republic of Tatarstan last decade is actively moving towards the formation of territorial attractive tourism product. Kazan has ranked among the leading cities of domestic tourism sector. Moreover, any tourism city is interested in attracting more tourists for longer periods, which is possible due to the diversity of the program in the city or region. Intangible cultural heritage can play an important role in solving this problem. In the article using the example of the three cities of the republic – Kazan, Chistopol and Elabuga – is shown as a combination of social factors, such as intangible cultural heritage, and natural factors can create an attractive tourism route. Publication of the article was supported by Russian Humanitarian Research Foundation and government of the Republic of Tatarstan as part of scientific project № 15–13–16004.

Entering the era of globalization with various challenges that exist requires us to be able to adjust. One way to be able to adjust to dynamic changes is to innovate. Innovation is changing for the better. As one of the agencies that require innovation is the West Sumatra Tourism Office in order to boost the Indonesian economy, one of which is in the tourism sector. This study aims to examine and build a conceptual model of the influence of Job Stress, Transformational Leadership, and Knowledge sharing towards innovative work behavior on ASN employees of the West Sumatra Provincial Tourism Office. This study used a non-probability sampling technique with a sample used of 58 ASNs through the distribution of questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is path analysis using Smart PLS software. Research hypothesis testing uses T-statistical tests obtained through the bootstrapping process. The results show that Job stress, Transformational Leadership are not able to directly affect innovative work behavior. Job stress affects knowledge sharing directly. Transformational leadership affects Knowledge sharing, and knowledge sharing affects innovative work behavior. The West Sumatra Tourism Office has not been able to implement Innovative work behavior without going through knowledge sharing. This is evidenced by the absence of a direct influence of job stress and transformational leadership on Innovative work behavior. This is because the employees of the West Sumatra Tourism Office have been working for a long time and have more experience and the ability to manage job stress. So that the existence of job stress does not affect the innovative work behavior of employees because they have a high ability to manage job stress on Innovative work behavior.

The article considers the methodological concept of economic transformation of the competitive potential of the tourism industry subjects and characterizes the elements of it. The focus is on the stages (phases) of economic transformation of the competitive potential of the tourism industry. The study reveals consistent and regular changes in its development, from turbulence to transformation. Transformation is a long-term process that brings drastic qualitative and quantitative changes to the economy. The principles that govern the economic transformation of the competitive potential of the tourism industry subjects include objectivity, historicism, systematicity, consumer value, reproduction, and smart specialization. The basis of the economic transformational process is a modification of the criteria for evaluating the competitive advantages of the subjects, namely the sustainability, safety, and competitive advantages. Approaches to developing a tourism subject's competitive potential in the post-war period in Ukraine are analyzed. They determine the interdependencies of economic transformation processes, the dynamics of their course, and evolutionary changes (transformation cycle). The economic transformation tools are identified. They depend on transformational changes and require well-considered means and management measures when changing the old model into a new one, which influences the rapidness of changes. The model involves a scheme for evaluating the economic transformational processes using three main criteria of assessment: sustainability, safety, and the competitive advantages of the tourism industry subject. The article presents several scenarios for implementing the model of economic transformation of the competitive potential of the tourism industry entity, describing them as inertial, pessimistic, optimistic, and realistic. Depending on the scenario, a differentiated approach to a mechanism and the corresponding institutional infrastructure for economic transformation of the competitive potential of tourism industry entities are developed. The research findings indicate that the highlighted methodological concept can ensure a high level of development of competitive potential for tourism industry entities.

The aim of the article is to theoretically analyze and define the concept of «regenerative tourism» as an innovative type of tourism. In the analysis, systematization and generalization of scientific works and materials of many foreign scholars and specialists, the essence of the concept has been considered, identical names have been determined as transformational, restorative; its place among other types of tourism as one of the newest types has been established; the views of researchers are systematized and its categorical features are defined. As a result of the study, it is found that the concept of regenerative tourism is based on the idea of creating a positive impact on the places that people visit while traveling. It goes beyond plain sustainability or minimization of negative impacts and seeks to actively contribute to the restoration and improvement of the local environment, communities, and cultures. The time intervals of regenerative tourism in comparison with other types of tourism are determined. The definitions of the essence of regenerative tourism analyzed in the study give grounds to assert that, in its essence, regenerative tourism embodies a holistic approach that goes beyond not only traditional, but also sustainable tourism. Its main purpose and essential feature is to recreate the places of stay of tourists. That is, in fact, an another step up from sustainable tourism. It is noted that the regenerative approach involves the transition of humanity from an exploitative, or degenerate, mindset, where the nature and resources of the community are «to be taken», to a system and set of practices that allow our ecological, social, cultural, and political systems to recover. Practical steps for the implementation of regenerative tourism are presented. Prospects for further research in this direction are to determine the boundaries and differences between regenerative and sustainable tourism. It is also important to substantiate the principles of regenerative tourism and develop practical steps to implement the basic principles of regenerative tourism in domestic tourism practice.

The article examines the functioning of the tourism sector in Spain, which is a competitive, highly profitable national business whose efficiency directly depends on the information database and digital technologies. It is substantiated that the accelerated digital transformation of tourism in Spain will help to stimulate economic growth, increase labor productivity and increase employment of the population. The seven most important forms of digital technological solutions used in the Spanish tourism industry are allocated: 1) mobile technologies today perform a whole range of services in the digitization of the tourism sector; 2) augmented reality (AR) has also entered the world of travel in Spain owing to the opportunities it can offer to those who wish to travel virtually; 3) the Internet of Things (IoT) promises to bring significant updates to the tourism industry and will become a major transformational factor in personalizing the customer experience over the next few years; 4) virtual assistants Siri and Alexa are being used by hotels to provide digital comfort for tourists; 5) the multiplier effect of the use of Big Data technologies in the Spanish tourism industry allows to build effective interaction between the government and business communities, improve and personalize travel services; 6) travel companies that rely on Blockchain functions to develop their loyalty and reward programs, certainly create a competitive advantage over other entities in the tourism market; 7) travel technology is becoming even more powerful thanks to the 5G networks. It is justified that in the future, the digitalization of tourism will be accompanied by a further process of squeezing the traditional companies with offline offices out of the tourism market along with the development of tour design according to the parameters individually set by each specific client.

The study aims to assess the impact of frontline managers’ green mindfulness on green organizational citizenship behavior (G-OCB). Moreover, the authors propose that the mediator effect of green intrinsic motivation and the moderator effect of green transformational leadership influence the direct relationship between green mindfulness and G-OCB. By employing a time-lagged, multisource research design, the authors analyze data collected from service firms’ frontline managers in the tourism and hospitality industry using SmartPLS SEM (v 4). Our findings indicate that green mindfulness significantly influences G-OCB through the mediator effect of green intrinsic motivation. Further, the study finds a significant intervening role of green transformational leadership in the underlying associations; the direct association between green mindfulness and green intrinsic motivation, and the indirect relationship between green mindfulness and G-OCB through green intrinsic motivation, are stronger(/weaker) at higher(/lower) levels of green transformational leadership. The study presents an essential framework that underpins the association between frontline managers’ green mindfulness and G-OCB by casting green intrinsic motivation as a mediator and green transformational leadership as a moderator. Service firms in the tourism and hospitality industry may benefit from our hypothesized framework by implementing the necessary interventions to foster employees’ G-OCB with the help of green transformational leadership as a contextual antecedent, and green mindfulness and green intrinsic motivation as individual-level antecedents.

Data sources include secondary data originating from relevant agencies and primary data directly from business actors. Data collection techniques use interview documentation and questionnaires. The research results showed that the influence of Go-digitalization and transformational leadership was positive and significant on competitive strategies for MSME actors in the Tourism and Creative Economy sectors of Samosir Regency. The development of digital technology is increasingly rapid, especially after the pandemic disaster. This also encourages community actors to shop online. It's no wonder that electronic trading platforms are selling well as people's choice for shopping and transactions. MSME digital acceleration is carried out to build competitiveness so that MSMEs can be stronger. Transformational leadership is the process of mobilizing all one's abilities to influence, move, direct other people. Transformational leadership is a process of mobilizing all one's abilities to influence, move and direct other people. The suggestion from this research is government support to encourage and provide assistance to business actors so they are able to compete with other tourism industries. One form of support is for the government to provide space for learning to realize technological literacy through outreach and training to business actors. Then we need to utilize new marketing strategies, actively producing goods that consumers can buy directly for the types of products that are currently on the rise during the pandemic.

Purpose This work analyses quality management (through the European Foundation for Quality Management-EFQM-model) and transformational leadership in hotels in Spain. Design/methodology/approach The study analyses 102 5-star and 5-star large luxury hotels that answer a questionnaire on transformational leadership and the EFQM model. It analyses the degree of importance of quality and transformational leadership in hotels, the significant differences between groups of hotels (according to stars, size, modality and type of product) and the association between transformational leadership and quality. Findings The results show the levels of quality and transformational leadership, minor significant differences between groups and an association between the two variables. In general, chain-affiliated hotels have a higher level of leadership and a more advanced employee and process management than independent hotels. Also, those hotels that focus on a vacational product show a lower attention to the strategy dimension in the EFQM model. The number of employees is not an important factor to adopt quality. Finally, transformational leadership allows hotels to advance in the development of quality management. Originality/value Although there are studies on quality management that show the importance of leadership for quality, there are few studies that examine transformational leadership and quality in the same study, mainly in the tourism industry, and especially in the case of the hotel industry.
