The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of two dietary Ca levels (3.00% vs 3.50%) in three hen genotypes (ISA Brown, Bovans Brown and Moravia BSL) on their laying performance and quality of their eggs. In order to evaluate the response to dietary Ca, an experiment was conducted with 300 laying hens. One hundred birds from each genotype were divided into 10 replicates (10 birds/cage/Ca level). To reveal the differences, the following characteristics were measured: hen-day egg production percentage, daily feed intake, egg weight, albumen and yolk weights, Haugh unit, eggshell colour, eggshell weight, eggshell thickness, eggshell strength, egg shape index and eggshell index. A higher Ca level significantly increased the hen-day egg production percentage of Bovans Brown and Moravia BSL, while ISA Brown laying hens had the higher egg production percentage at a lower dietary Ca level (85.97% vs 82.41%). No significant effect of dietary Ca level was observed on any internal egg quality measurements except the Haugh unit. However, the dietary Ca level significantly affected some of external egg quality measurements, namely eggshell colour (P < 0.001), eggshell weight (P = 0.003) and eggshell strength (P = 0.012). The results of the present study show that laying performance and egg quality parameters responded differently according to hen genotype and dietary Ca level. Bovans Brown and Moravia BSL laying hens required higher levels of Ca to keep egg production high, while the eggshell quality measurements were better at the lower dietary Ca level. Thus, it is recommended to adjust the Ca levels in feed to the nutritional requirements of laying hens.

AbstractThe aim of this study was to determine Cu, Fe and Cr contents of three species of fresh mushrooms and canned mushrooms: white and brown champignon (Agaricus bisporus) and Pleurotus Ostreatus. Were analyzed various plant parts: stem, cap and cuticle of fresh mushrooms and only stem and cap for canned mushrooms. The levels of trace metals of mushroom samples collected from regions of Romania, Poland and Turkey were determined by UV/Visible spectrometry - standard addition method after digestion method. The contents of investigated trace metals in mushroom samples were found to be in the range of 0.01 - 2.26 mg/Kg for chromium, 2.02 - 430.67 mg/Kg for copper and 240.40 - 7952.89 mg/Kg for iron. The iron content was found to be higher than those of the other two minerals in all the samples. Mushrooms species in the highest levels of trace elements were found white champignon for Cu and Fe and brown champignon for Cr.

In this paper we present a theoretical framework for the formalization of design methodologies of artifacts, in which we distinguish three levels: the design strategies level, the artifacts representation level, and the level of graphics systems for 3D rendering. This work proposes both a formal apparatus for the definition of design strategies, considered as processes operating on representations of artefacts, and provides a methodological contribution to the building of knowledge-based aid design systems. The key idea of the paper is that, independently of the design type, it is essential to separate the level of design strategy from that of artifact representation and to connect them through appropriate translation rules. The strategy level is a "meta"-level with respect to the representation level. Therefore when we formalize a strategy, we must represent it through a language of greater order than the one used in formalizing the artifact representation. In this paper we present a formalization of some typical design strategies classes for every-day artifact in which an artifact is represented as a class of a formal ontology. Though the methodological and formal apparatus presented has been defined for the generative design operating method, we think that the concepts here exposed apply also to other architectural design approaches.

Three levels of virtual environment (VE) metric are proposed, based on: (1) users' task performance (time taken, distance traveled, and number of errors made), (2) physical behavior (locomotion, looking around, and time and error classification), and (3) decision making (i.e., cognitive) rationale (think aloud, interview, and questionnaire). Examples of the use of these metrics are drawn from a detailed review of research into VE wayfinding. A case study from research into the fidelity that is required for efficient VE wayfinding is presented, showing the unsuitability in some circumstances of common metrics of task performance such as time and distance, and the benefits to be gained by making fine-grained analyses of users' behavior. Taken as a whole, the paper highlights the range of techniques that have been successfully used to evaluate wayfinding and explains in detail how some of these techniques may be applied.

The autumn growth and development was studied in three types of winter oilseed rape varieties (line, hybrid and genetically modified hybrid) at three technologies (intensity, standard and low input). Technologies were different by soil preparation before sowing, sowing rate, chemical treatment levels, growth regulation and fertilisation. It is evident from the autumn period 1999–2002, that the yield of biomass and roots in the autumn period was influenced by the technology and year conditions (water soil condition). The occurrence of surface soil clods influenced negatively the creation of root and aboveground biomass irrespective of the soil cultivation (ploughing or cultivation without ploughing). Also the excessive soil moisture negatively influenced the root and aboveground biomass and increased the differences among variants. The low input variant was substantially worse than intensity and standard. The dry mass of aboveground and root biomass was statistically different (alfa = 0.05) in the intensive and standard variant in comparison with the variant without ploughing (low input). No statistically significant differences were found in the mass of aboveground and root biomass (alfa = 0.05). The percentage of dry mass in aboveground and root biomass was statistically significantly higher (alfa = 0.05) in intensity of growth regulator application tebuconazole (Horizon 250EW) + chlormequat-chloride (Retacel Extra R68) compared with standard and low input. The diameter of root neck, length of roots and number of leaves was statistically the highest (alfa = 0.05) in the intensive variant. Statistically the values differed from the standard and low input variants. Substantially lower differences were found in the varieties in the same characters. GM hybrid showed a lower heterosis effect and the studied characters did not reach the level of unmodified hybrid level.

Настоящая работа представляет собой первую, вводную часть цикла статей, посвященных обзору существующих моделей, методов и взглядов на эффекты воздействия экономического института рекламы на рынок на всех возможных уровнях. В первой части цикла приводится общий обзор наиболее значимых подходов к изучению рекламной деятельности фирм, влияния рекламы на потребителей и на характеристики экономического равновесия. Построена классификация экономических эффектов рекламы, учитывающая все существующие аспекты ее воздействия и кратко описаны подходы к анализу ее первичных, вторичных и третичных эффектов. The present work is an introduction to a cycle of review articles dedicated to a comprehensive description and analysis of effects caused by advertising as an economic institution on the whole economy on different levels. A general review of most significant approaches to analyze the firms advertising activities is carried out as well as a diversified overview of methods and mathematical apparatus of modelling advertisement influence on consumers and on the characteristics of economic equilibrium. A classification of such influence effects is constructed, based on different characteristics of advertising, including its content, duration, intensity, as well as types of firms’ ad strategies and the level of economy affected by ad influence. From the latter point of view the economic effects of advertising may be divided into three levels. Primary effects involve only the consumers and describe the shift in their demand inspired by advertisement. The emergence of primary effects gives a new tool to operate the demand for the producing firms. For the latter it means that they may develop an optimal strategy, different from the one that fits the “non-ad” case, and this difference forms the essence of the secondary tier of the economic effects of the advertising (secondary effects). Finally, the tertiary effects of advertising deal with the shift in general market characteristics and structure induced by the existence of advertising as an institution such as social welfare change or emergence of new equilibriums or advertising markets as well as advertising-driven intersectoral linkages between production and media industries.
