Анотація:

The present article aims to critically observe and interpret the methodological deficiencies as found in randomly selected 14 doctoral theses submitted to two different universities in India. Despite their serious deviation from the expected methodological standards, all those theses were accepted and approved by the universities and scholars concerned conferred with PhD degrees. Undoubtedly, those theses kept in the reference sections at the respective university libraries would potentially misguide and mislead the future researchers. Some of the common technical deficiencies, as have been noticed, include (1) absence of careful thoughts in framing research titles, (ii) biased method of data collection, (ii) absence of logical explanation in favour of sample size and sample selection process, (iii) designing and execution of instrument for data collection, (iv) theory formulation in terms of framing of objectives, hypotheses and operational definitions etc. The article attempts to present the critical observations on case-to-case basis so that their conceptual, instrumental and procedural deficiencies and deviations are easily understood by the academicians, researchers and students. The content of this article is divided in to three broad sections. The first section deals with an introduction to quantitative and qualitative research methods and their advantages and limitations. The next section deals with the review of the selected theses followed by conclusion and suggested remedial measures. The objective of this article is purely academic and its scope is limited to enhancement of quality of future research studies in the domains and related fields.

Анотація:

AbstractThis article presents the results of a simulation, testing the variation of main bearing loads and strains in crankshafts caused by geometrical deviations of the bearing system to justify the necessity and purposefulness of measurements of both the shape and axes position deviations of crankshaft journals. Measurements of these deviations at the existing level of applied measuring techniques are significantly limited. The research also accentuates the practical implementation of a measuring system equipped with the so-called flexible support system for the measured object, developed at the Maritime University of Szczecin. This system makes it possible to eliminate elastic deformations of the crankshaft due to its own weight, whereby the measurements of geometrical deformations of the crankshafts can be carried out with appropriate accuracy in conditions corresponding to the non-reference measurements when determining the object measured in counterpoints. The obtained results have fully confirmed the purposefulness of the conducted research and the validity of the theses.

Анотація:

The article is devoted to the concept of advanced legal effect, targets of legal prognosis, such as scientific prognostication of dynamics of legal conditions, optimal legal effect on social and politic processes, avoidance of possible deviations. Elements of juridical prognosis are determined: borders and contents of perspective legal regulation, means of correlation of social development processes and their legal reverberation. Theses correlation could help to ascertain cause-and-effect relations in the legal system, dynamics of legal regulations in national and international law, dynamics of statutes and functions of subjects of law, legal risks. All these elements would stimulate minimizing of negative consequences. Methods of prognostication and a range of criteria for an estimation of results are also considered in the article.

A rich literature on ‘populism’ and ‘religion’ has flourished in the preceding decade. Following a now consensual vision of ‘populism’ as ‘anti-pluralism’, scholars such as Cas Mudde, Daniel Steinmetz-Jenkins, and Duncan McDonnell have homed in on how populists weaponize religious themes and live off the decline of organized religiosity. This paper revisits these theses through a re-examination of the first self-declared populist movement in history, the American People’s Party of the late nineteenth century and two of its most prominent political personalities – Georgia Populist Thomas E. Watson and Boston radical Benjamin O. Flower. Both Watson and Flower were convinced Methodists all their lives and saw Populist farming associations in the 1890s as a natural extension of previous church networks. After the movement’s defeat in 1896, however, both remodulated their Methodism for specific ends: anti-Catholicism, opposition to Protestant missionary efforts, anti-vaccination sentiment and, in case of Watson, aggressive anti-Semitism. Rather than seeing these instances as deviations from a populist creed, this paper investigates how Flower and Watson’s Populism saw the crisis of American Methodism as part of a broader republican decline, and how this insight can inform contemporary discussion on the interrelation between populism, pluralism, democracy, and religion.

Introduction. This paper considers madness as a metahistorical category of culture as well as an excluded language in Western European culture that exists despite the language code. To determine the status of madness in the contemporary philosophy the author analyses the way it functions in the discourse of “the other”. Theoretical analysis. The exclusion of madness from the context of philosophical research occurred due to such various markers changing from era to era as a lie, delusion, nonsense, buffoonery, and finally the dysfunction of the mind completed by Pinel’s reform. The definition of madness as a forbidden language comes from two theses: 1) mental disorders result from biological, not socio-psychological problems; 2) madness and a mental disorder are not two different configurations, they have organic nature that is to be neutralized in terms of pharmacology and defined in terms of behavioral deviations, and that excludes subjective and nonphysical suffering. Conclusion. The research relevance is obvious because modern aesthetics and philosophy with the cultural model of insanity as a core concept need further elaborating. The duality of the subject of psychiatry concerning the human personality implies that this component must be taken into account apart from exclusively natural-scientific studies.

Appropriate supplier selection is important in success of every manufacturing industry. Improper supplier selection causes an adverse impact on functioning and development of any organization. Evaluating available suppliers and selecting most suitable supplier is very important task of procurement management. Theses selection problems can be solve using decision making methods. These methods are used to find most preferred alternative from given set of alternatives based on different attributes. The aim of the present work is to select raw material supplier for cold-rolled mild steel manufacturing industry using selected three decision making methods such as complex proportional assessment, operational competiveness rating analysis and preference selection index, etc. The selection is made among five suppliers based on five attributes viz: performance rating, productivity, yield, cost and lead time. The analytical hhierarchy process is used for determining weight of the attributes based on relative importance of each attribute which can have a great impact on the final solution. It is found from the ranks obtained using selected three methods that supplier S1 is best and supplier S5 is worst among the others alternatives. It is also observed that the rankings of suppliers has some deviations in the rankings due to different mathematical approaches used in these three selected methods. The proposed methods help to evaluate and rank different raw material suppliers for manufacturing industries.

In the US, writing centers have a long history at institutions of higher learning. Often housed in individual colleges, writing centers function to help both undergraduate and graduate students develop their writing skills and become more confident, independent writers. Assistance, which is typically offered by students who are themselves seasoned writers, takes form in both face-to-face and online tutoring sessions, and can focus on tenets of writing ranging from general skills (e.g., outlining, drafting, organization) to discipline- or genre-specific assignments (e.g., theses, reports, presentations). In recent years, efforts have been made to transfer the writing center culture across the pond; success stories have popped up in a wide range of European countries. Yet several contexts have yet to be investigated. The purpose of this study was to examine the challenges of establishing a writing center at the Department of Teacher Education (Institutt for lærerutdanning) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). In autumn 2019, 43 pre-service second-year students taking a course on Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) were obligated to make one appointment with the writing center to discuss drafts of a paper for a required assignment. Afterwards, they completed a survey detailing the experience of their visit. Results revealed that while students on the whole benefited from the sessions to discuss their writing, the students hinted at several cultural deviations that have the potential to hobble efforts of establishing a writing center. Instructional implications are discussed.

В статье рассматриваются экономические последствия демографического старения. Обосновывается актуальность данной темы. Исследовательской проблемой данной статьи является оценка силы влияния демографического старения на финансовое состояние пенсионной системы в мире. Проводится проверка тезисов «макроэкономики старения» относительно финансового состояния пенсионных систем при увеличении доли лиц старше трудоспособного возраста. Проведен географический анализ отклонений места стран в рейтинге достаточности пенсионного дохода и рейтинге Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index от места стран в рейтинге демографического старения. В качестве информационной базы используется рейтинг достаточности пенсионного дохода по 48 странам, рейтинг Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index по 25 странам и разработанный ООН коэффициент демографической нагрузки пожилыми. Сделан вывод об отсутствии значимой корреляции старения населения, с одной стороны, и финансового состояния пенсионных систем, с другой. Дополнительно сделан вывод, что существует определенная зависимость между силой влияния демографического старения и экономикогеографическим регионом. Дается возможное теоретическое обоснование ошибочности тезисов «макроэкономики старения». Рассмотрены недемографические факторы влияния на финансовое состояние пенсионных систем. This article discusses the economic consequences of demographic aging. The relevance of this topic is substantiated. The research problem of this article is to assess the strength of the inﬂuence of demographic aging on the ﬁnancial condition of the pension system in the world. Abstracts of the «macroeconomics of aging» theses are reviewed with respect to the ﬁnancial condition of pension systems with an increase in the share of people over working age. A geographical analysis of deviations of the place of countries in the rating of sufﬁciency of retirement income and the rating of the Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index from the place of countries in the ranking of demographic aging is carried out. The retirement income sufﬁciency rating for 48 countries, the Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index rating for 25 countries and the UN developed Old age dependency ratio (OADR) are used as the information base. It is concluded that there is no signiﬁcant correlation between the aging of the population on the one hand and the ﬁnancial condition of pension systems on the other. Additionally, it was concluded that there is a certain pattern between the strength of the inﬂuence of demographic aging and the economic and geographical region. A possible theoretical justiﬁcation of the thesis of the thesis «macroeconomics of aging» is given. Non-demographic factors of inﬂuence on the ﬁnancial condition of pension systems are considered.

Language is a powerful weapon that expresses the culture of a given people. The study entitled: ‘Language and Tiv Cultural Practices in Adan-Wade Kohol Ga’ clearly looks at linguistic and cultural resources that Suemo Chia discusses in his novel. This study explores aspects of language and examines cultural elements in the novel under study. This study used Benjamin Lee Whorf’s Whorfian Hypothesis or Linguistic Relativity which was propounded in 1956. He theorised that the structure of our native language determines our perception or cosmology. Methodologically, this study used primary and documentary sources. The primary is Adan-Wade Kohol Ga and secondary sources are books, articles, dictionaries and theses. As for the data presentation, the researcher read, extracted relevant linguistic and cultural elements, transcribed and analysed. It has been discovered that Adan-Wade Kohol Ga is novel of growth – bildungsroman. It is also a historical novel that discusses Tiv traditional belief system. It has been found out that the novel under discussion has graphological, phonological, syntactic and semantic deviations. It has also been learnt that Tiv borrowed certain cultural practices from other tribes. The novel has linguistic and cultural archaisms. It has been recommended that the younger generation should study their indigenous literatures so as to understand the culture of their people. Young people should also learn their own languages; hence language defines individuals. Lecturers should recommend indigenous literatures to the students of Languages and Linguistics, Cultural Studies, Literature in English and English Language to read, analyse and translate.

Анотація:

This study aimed to study quality of theses of master education program in teaching science and mathematics, Mahasarakham University, Thailand which conducted and published during 2016-2019. A 37 theses were studied through systematic approach. Data were collected by 24 questionnaires of theses analysis anecdotal. Mean, standard deviation, and percentage were employed. Results showed that most of thesis focus on action research due to the school contexts. Teaching strategies or innovation which employed are problem-based learning, inquiry-based learning, STEM education and other trending approaches. All of informants or samples are studying in high school level. Overall of quality of thesis can be considered in at good level. The finding is useful for program development and shaping research area for graduate students in the future.

Para isso, uma grande contribuição pode vir das teses principais da física quântica no que tange à compreensão de célula, rede e DNA da célula e rede. Esses conceitos podem ser relacionados com as posições teológicas do “uno” e do “alter” para a formação da comunidade religiosa, social e política.Abstract: Religion without spirituality is an ideology. The article proposes a reflexion about the vicissitudes of the religions and the dangers that involve them when they present themselves without the common and integrating root that is spirituality. It shows the distinctions that might be made between religion and spirituality and the deviations they may be subjected to when based on rites and meanings that distinguish them from the others but that, instead of manifesting the beauty of the diversity, justify ideologies of domination. For this purpose, a major contribution may come from the main theses of quantum physics with regard to the understanding of the cell, of the cell’s network and DNA and of network. Given the interest in the study of metadiscourse as the communication of ideas and the way people use language in different communicative situations, this paper attempted to find the degree of confluence between metadiscourse markers from different studies and to show how patterns of metadiscourse analysis based on various written genres can be applied to a wider range. The mean values for the frequency of marker use and their respective deviations were determined by comparing a significant number of studies on metadiscourse elements. To ensure comparability, those following Hyland’s model were chosen. The units of analysis were grouped into two broad categories based on discursive characteristics: Academic genres (research articles, theses, and textbooks) and non-academic genres, which included documents ranging from newspaper editorials or opinion columns to Internet texts and other forms of digital communication. The results of our study highlight that the disparity in interactive markers between academic and non-academic texts is relatively small. This difference has been identified by previous studies, and it is confirmed herein that the difference may be related to the use of academic language, the topic, or the object of study. In contrast, the mean values of the interactive markers in non-academic texts are considerably higher than those in academic texts. At the same time, the texts seem to be organised along two axes (interactional and interactive) in distinct areas. Despite our initial assumptions that the data would be subject to individual variations, that differences would be found between different sections of the same genre within the same academic discipline, and that the results would vary if certain texts were added or excluded, we observed certain trends in the behaviour of the documents, although it prevailed that, within each category, the texts should be studied individually.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to describe and summarize a PhD thesis that contributes to the understanding of how unexpected events (deviations) are handled. It explores the reality of project manager's attempts to address loosely coupled components of tightly coupled projects from a projects‐as‐practice approach.Design/methodology/approachResearch reported here is based upon a qualitative data gathering approach adopting an ethnographic research approach, gathering data from 12 weeks of participant observations, 59 interviews and studying supporting documentation with the offices under study. This approach is warranted by the projects‐as‐practice approach which puts emphasis on the situated actions.FindingsRather than reducing uncertainty, project management action through coping with deviations to expectations provides mechanisms that thrive on the uncertainty of the situation. Project managers can cope with unexpected deviations to plan in a logical and rigorous way that is currently poorly recognized as an official project management “skill”.Practical implicationsMore space for action is created to solve the specific deviation by enhancing the seriousness of the deviation. The longer the project manager is able to emphasize the structures of a deviation, the more time the project manager has to find a suitable solution.Originality/valueThere are two main areas of conclusion that are given attention. First, uncertainty is inherent in projects which can be used when dealing with deviations in projects because while all deviations do not have great consequences, they follow the same basic pattern when managed. Project management in this sense becomes the management of deviations. Second, in terms of the theory of loosely coupled systems, a practice‐based analysis has been largely missing in the project management literature. The study reported upon investigates and explains this inner life of loose coupling mechanisms.

Purpose Deeni Madaris of Pakistan and their libraries are playing an important role in educating the large fraction of society. They have always been engaged in the development of social and cultural values of the Pakistani society. This study aims to investigate the organization of information resources and their utilization at Deeni Madaris libraries in the central Punjab, Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach Quantitative research approach was adopted for this study. A questionnaire was developed on the bases of related literature and discussions with experts of librarianship as well as Islamic studies in Pakistan. The questionnaire was sent to 49 Deeni Madaris, of which five did not have libraries and four did not respond. Forty (81.6 per cent) Deeni Madaris responded and provided the relevant data about their libraries. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS 22. Mostly descriptive statistics were applied to calculate the frequencies, percentage, means and standard deviations. A two-tailed t-test was applied to check the impact of cataloguing and automation on the use of information resources. Findings It was found that majority of the respondents developed their own classification and cataloguing methods for the organization of information resources and did not have a proper retrieval system. Majority of the respondents were providing lending services to readers. Teachers and final-year students were the key users of the libraries. They mostly referred to books, theses and serials written in Urdu and Arabic language. The situation of library computerization was very weak; only 19 libraries had computers and 11 of them have partially automated the library activities. Library automation and catalogue put positive effects on the use of library resources. Originality/value The exploration of the literature showed that libraries of Madaris in Pakistan have always been a priority, but these libraries did not get a position in the library literature as they deserve. This study will fill this gap.

The aim of any stylistic study is the interpretation of written and spoken texts in a way that analyzes the linguistic behavior used in such texts. There are different levels of stylistic analysis. Stylistic phonological analysis tackles sound patterns to observe the foregrounding of linguistic behavior either by deviation or parallelism. This study phonologically analyzes Emily Dickinson's poem," Our Share of Night to Bear." The poem has two contradictory themes: life and death. The study hypothesizes that phonological devices as alliteration, meter, rhyme, and onomatopoeia, manage to present the different two themes of the poem. It depends on (Ufot, 2013) , (Abrams & Harpham, 2014) and (BernardLubin et al., 1971) as phono-stylistic models to discuss the stylistic use of linguistic units of the poem and evaluate the reasons behind the deviations, and how that reflects Dickinson's style in presenting the ideas of life and death. Although, there is a frequent use of ballad meter, which is more conversational than common meters, there are cases of deviations towards the amphimacer meters to foreground a comic paradox that resembles a lonely lady and night.

In strip tandem rolling process, there is always deviation between the center line of the strip and the assumed center line, which is called running deviation. In this thesis, based on the actual running deviation data of some aluminum strip rolling industry, we analyzed their chaos and fractal character, proposed one improved pattern classification based on the fuzzy c-average clustering, on basis of this method classified running deviation pattern, constructed adding weight zero-order local prediction method of strip truning deviation signal. After the s actual data test, the forecasting result achieves the desired accuracy.

Shifts in the economic environment are associated with the transition to a new technological order. The nascent production model is based on the creation of fundamentally new schemes of economic cooperation between economic entities. In addition, the current structural industrial crisis, exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic, leads to a general decline in business activity, and a decrease in the growth of regional economies. One of the forms of organizing and supporting regional entrepreneurship, which can ensure the coordination of the process of interaction of economic entities on the way from general competition to general cooperation, is the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem. The aim of the study is to determine the presence of a connection between the level of development of a region's entrepreneurial ecosystem and the general level of its economic development. The research hypotheses are as follows: H1 - the higher the level of development of the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem, the higher the level and dynamics of development of the regional economy as a whole; H2 - a subject with a more developed entrepreneurial ecosystem "lures" resources and participants of neighboring ecosystems. The objects of the research are the regional economies of 79 regions of the Russian Federation in 2005-2019. To confirm the first hypothesis, a cluster analysis of the studied subjects was carried out, dividing them into four cluster groups according to the concept of the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems. To confirm the second hypothesis, we calculated the paired correlation and covariance coefficients between the deviations of the fertility rates of organizations and the rates of official liquidation by region. It has been established that regions with mature entrepreneurial ecosystems have higher indicators of economic development, as well as other key indicators of the quality of development of the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem. It was not possible to statistically confirm the second of the theses put forward. Fertility rates and the official liquidation of organizations for the subjects under study changed mainly in the same direction, that is, under the influence of the same factors. This idea is confirmed by the calculation of the pair correlation coefficients. Despite the absence of a statistical possibility of substantiating the second hypothesis of the study, the relationship between the level of development of the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem and the general level of regional economic development has been established. The results obtained can be applied in planning and forecasting the economic development of regional economies.

This study addressed the rationale that teachers of students with emotional or behavioral disorders, specific learning disabilities, and moderate to severe academic difficulties offer for deviating from mathematics lesson scripts and the alternative procedures they use during script deviations. Results from analysis of interviews indicated that teachers deviated from lesson scripts so that lessons would become “their own” and they could employ their own personal style of delivery. However, when these instructors deviated from scripts, they primarily engaged in academic behaviors and delivered instruction using wording similar to the lesson scripts, and they maintained a similar style of lesson presentation. The rationales that teachers offered for engaging in script deviations were grouped into four distinct themes: student level of performance, set-up for success, prevention, and management. Teachers’ supplementary procedures were categorized into (a) academic and (b) disciplinary. This study provided insight into the thought processes that teachers engaged in as they considered script deviations and the methods they used to integrate effective instructional and management practices into their mathematics instruction.

Writing a scientific articles or thesis or dissertations has vital role to impart the ideas of the researcher to interesting audience and to enhance scientific communication. Postgraduate students in the field of biology in Iraqi Universities must write and present a thesis or a dissertation as a partial fulfilment of the requirements to obtain their MSc or PhD degrees. Introduction chapter, in these thesis or dissertation, must be written clearly and aims to justify the significance of the research working and to link the work to other previous research. Introduction writing process is getting growing problem as it shows differed styles of writing not in compatible with standard guidelines. Hence, this article aimed to focus on the studying the context style of introduction chapter in biological thesis or dissertations. The study included analysis of 124 thesis and dissertations, and interviewing 114 postgraduate students to discuss the introduction writing process. Introduction writing context was analyzed and evaluated according to the standard guidelines for scientific writing. The interview focused on scientific background, knowledge and approaches of student to how to write introduction. The results revealed that students showed significant defect and very poor knowledge in introduction context writing. Deviation from standard guidelines was noticed in all thesis and dissertations introduction writing criteria. All students claimed that they hadn’t passed any syllabus concerning writing process, and their writing style depended on transferring or copying the styles of previous written thesis or dissertations even they were not correct. The study strongly recommends introducing specific syllabus for scientific research methods and scientific writing for postgraduate students before starting their thesis or dissertation writing.

For optical beams transmitted by a right-angle prism, the Goos–Hänchen shift can never be seen as a pure effect. Indeed, the lateral displacement, caused by the total internal reflection, will always be accompanied by angular deviations generated by the transmission through the incoming and outgoing interfaces. This combined effect can be analyzed by using the Taylor expansion of the Fresnel coefficients. The analytic expression found for the transmitted beam allows us to determine the beam parameters, the incidence angles, and the axial distance for which lateral displacements are compensated by angular deviations. Proposals to optimize experimental implementations are also briefly discussed.

Taken traditionally as a no-go theorem against the theoretical organization of inductive processes, Duhem-Quine thesis may interfere with the essence of statistical inference. This difficulty can be resolved by "Micro-Macro duality" [9, 10] which clarifies the importance of specifying the pertinent aspects and accuracy relevant to concrete contexts of scientific discussions and which ensures the matching between what is to be described and what to describe in the form of the validity of duality relations. This consolidates the foundations of the inverse problem, induction method, and statistical inference crucial for the sound relations between theory and experiments. To achieve the purpose, we propose here the large deviation strategy (LDS for short) on the basis of Micro-Macro duality, quadrality scheme, and large deviation principle. In reference to the quadrality scheme consisting of dynamics, algebra of observables together with its states and universal notion of classifying space, LDS will be seen to consist of the corresponding four levels; we discuss in detail its first and second levels, respectively, in this paper and the succeeding one, aiming at establishing statistical inference concerning observables.

In the Philippines, move-analytic investigations have been carried out. However, none of these have attempted to look into the genre of thesis and dissertation abstracts. Cognizant of this gap, this study examined a corpus of 100 research abstracts written by Filipino graduate students in one private university in Western Metro Manila. In order to identify the moves, rhetorical organization, linguistic features, and deviations in the corpus, mixed-method research design was employed. Analyses of data reveal that all the moves in Hyland’s model are present in the corpus. Such moves are linguistically realized through the use of present tense, present perfect tense, attitudinal stance words, deictic item+ inquiry type noun+ reporting verb formulaic pattern, past-passive constructions, opening subject+ reporting verb+ that-complement clause formulaic pattern, modals, and nominal phrases. As to rhetorical organization, non-linear organization is the most preferred, while linear organization is the least. With respect to deviations, word count, format, level of usage, syntactic structure, mechanics, grammar, and lexis are uncovered. Based on the results obtained, it is deduced that thesis and dissertation abstracts as corpus can provide meaningful insights as regards the exploration of moves vis-à-vis their linguistic realizations and sequences, academic writing, and Philippine English.

This research aims to find the kinds of translation error made in writing abstract of theses and dissertations. This research used descriptive quantitative method to analyze and expose the errors of abstracts of theses and dissertations. The data of this research was the abstracts of theses and dissertations of universities in Makassar. It took 61 abstracts of theses and dissertations from different universities. The abstracts is analyzed by using error analysis technique. The result of this research concluded that the abstracts are found various errors. Errors in the kinds of translation were Omission – Deviation – Modification – Addition - and the least is Inversion. The result of this research provides a new information about translation to the students especially to non-English students, and motivate them to translate the abstract well.

The article discusses modern approaches to classification of nonchemical (behavioral) addictions on the example of Internet addiction (IA). The discussion around the inclusion of gaming disorders, including those implemented via the Internet in ICD-10 is analyzed. The general neurobiological and genetic mechanisms of the formation of all addictive disorders, both chemical and non-chemical, are shown. In order to develop standardized approaches to the treatment of IA, one should first of all determine which forms are nosological units - a disorder - according to the criteria of the ICD and DSM and on this basis to conduct evidence-based studies of the effectiveness of various therapeutic methods. In the course of the discussion, it is concluded that various forms of deviations and disorders can be called «fake», but nevertheless they will not disappear and people will not stop suffering from them.

Since a long time, the extraction of gold in the Captaincy of Minas Gerais had yielded profit to the Portuguese Crown. This occurred from the discovery of the first deposits, in the late seventeenth century, in Vila Rica, and in several other places in the territory of Minas Gerais. By the end of the 18th century, however, gold production was in ruins and nothing else was removed from the metal in the places where it was extracted. In this way, the Portuguese government began to plan actions to increase the tax collection of the fifth, forcing the miners to extract more gold, even with the difficulties related to the decay of the mines. In addition, the Portuguese adopted measures to prevent the crimes of deviations - misappropriation, frauds, falsification of metal and its products fused in the Mints and Foundry - practiced in the regions of gold extraction, such as Vila Rica. A resource used to curb these practices was the opening of investigation that was adopted in the Kingdom of Portugal to investigate the denunciation of a crime and then apply the punishment to the accused. This thesis, in this context, specifically analyses a process of investigation of the deviation of gold and diamonds conducted by the Intendant of the Royal Foundry, Jozé Caetano Cezar Manitti, in Vila Rica, in 1792. The research used as an investigation method to analyse issues related to the metallurgical processes of gold purification and testing. In the comparison with other documents, it became evident that the Portuguese Crown had experienced officers, long years in the profession, with the knowledge chemical of substances to avoid excessive spending on the purification of gold, essential in the control of deviations.

Conjugate deviation of the eyes toward side of lesion was recognized over a century ago as a manifestation accompanying hemiplegia, usually of apoplectic origin. While working on the services of Alfred Vulpian and Jean-Martin Charcot, Jean-Louis Prévost sparked international interest in the neurologic sign later named after him. His 1868 thesis represents the first systematic case series of patients with this ocular sign, observed in conjunction with head rotation toward the nonparalyzed side, which he called conjugate deviation (CD) of the eyes. Within a decade, it was uniformly reported in both French and English medical literature. Ipsilesional deviation was the rule for cortical or subcortical paralytic lesions. Contralesional deviation, more rarely seen, signaled lesions of lower brain regions, particularly pontine, or indicated irritative, excitatory effects (as in Jacksonian epilepsy). The sign was recognized to be a valuable diagnostic aid in unilateral cerebral lesions. Centralized control of CD by specific cerebral sites, such as frontal, or occipital, or oculomotor centers, was explored, along with the complex relationship with hemineglect, which interestingly was reported only several decades later. The discovery of intricate oculomotor interconnections and self-space relationships, which play an essential role in CD, owes much to Prévost and his followers.

This article attempts to examine the use of graphological deviation in Timothy Wangusa’s poetry as a style of foregrounding in Timothy Wangusa’s poetry. It is hoped to fill knowledge gaps in the Wangusaic scholarship as previous studies on Wangusa are on issues of originality of his poetry and conclude that the trajectory of his poetry is mainly Christian, African, and English traditions. The studies conclude that Wangusa’s poetry was greatly influenced by classical and western literary traditions (Alfredo Okello 2005). Some studies are on Wangusa’s novels and short stories, and as such, they focus on aspects like themes and narrative techniques but not graphological deviation. This leaves much to be studied on the variable of graphological deviation in Wangusa’s poetry. This justifies why this research article is worthwhile as it evaluates how Timothy Wangusa employs graphological deviation to create foregrounding. Besides, the researcher used the theory of defamiliarisation proposed by Viktor Shyklovsky throughout the study. The theory emphasises the use of poetic devices, which makes it an apt one as this study is on graphological deviation (which is used as a poetic device to achieve emphasis/foregrounding). The researcher used a textual analysis method and a descriptive research design in an attempt to explicate and make sense of the variable of graphological deviation. The results and findings from the data analysis prove that Wangusa uses graphological deviation to emphasise his message, shock or surprise readers (estrangement) and create mood in his poetry. This paper draws on the theory of mastermind narration developed by M.J. Clarke in the context of prestige television dramas with highly complex non-linear narratives and inconsistent characters (Clarke, 2012) and Jason Mittell’s (2015) concept of ‘forensic fandom’ to offer a reading of the Kingdom Hearts (Square Enix, 2002-) franchise in light of postmodern practices of textual consumption characteristic of current fandoms, such as those explored by Henry Jenkins (2006) and Matt Hills (2002), but also addressing Japanese theorists Hiroki Azuma (2009) and Eiji Ōtsuka’s (2010) work around the notion of the Otaku. I argue that the series’ significant deviation from Disney’s traditional approach to narrative (Wasko, 2001) indicates a desire for the corporation to explore radical new forms of textual production, and to negotiate emerging fan consumption practices within the safe environment of a controlled and licensed text. Just as cultural theorists like Clarke and Anne Allison (2006) argue that a textual product can often contain traces that reflect its wider conditions of production, I propose that the Kingdom Hearts franchise can be read allegorically as an extended experiment by Disney into new forms of collaborative storytelling. I attempt to demonstrate this by concluding with an exploration of the metareflexive depiction of the fan practice of cosplay.

The study examined the association between academic stress and thesis completion among the University of Cape Coast postgraduate students. The correlational research design was employed for the study. A sample of 294 postgraduate students who completed their postgraduate studies between 2018 and 2020 was purposively selected for the study. Means and standard deviations, Pearson's Moment Correlation, and independent sample t-tests were used to answer the research questions and test the hypotheses. The findings revealed that the major factors causing academic stress were that, lecturers made too many extra demands on students, poor interest in some courses, eleventh-hour preparation for examinations, worry about examination results, and monotonous teaching style by some lecturers among others. The study also found a statistically significant relationship between academic stress and thesis completion among postgraduate students. It was therefore, recommended that the University of Cape Coast’s management in collaboration with all its academic departments, should take the challenge of academic stress more seriously by ensuring that all postgraduate students seek professional counselling services available at the university to enable them to cope with the ever-increasing academic demands on them.

The position of a Notary is required by laws and regulations with a view to assisting and serving the public who need authentic written evidence, but a Notary in carrying out his profession commits a crime of forgery of letters in making an authentic deed so that a Notary who is consciously, intentionally or involved in making fake authentic deeds can be accounted for in criminal law. This writing aims to find out the legal protection for the victim who is harmed in making an authentic deed containing false information and the notary's responsibility in making the deed. The research method used in this thesis is a normative juridical approach, namely legal research carried out based on the main legal material by examining theories, concepts, legal principles and legislation related to research, this approach is also known as with a library approach, namely studying books, laws and regulations and other documents related to this research. The results of the study found that the Notary in making an authentic deed had fulfilled the elements of the criminal act of forging letters against an authentic deed in Article 263 paragraph 1 and Article 264 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code. Legal protection for the victim takes legal action by reporting to the police and bringing the case to the Court of first instance, the level of appeal, and the level of cassation. Анотація:

This article attempts to examine the use of morphological deviation as a style of foregrounding in Timothy Wangusa’s poetry collection -Africa’s New Brood. According to Geoffrey Leech, “poetic language may violate or deviate from generally observed rules of the language in many ways, some obvious, some subtle. Both the means of and the motive for deviation are worth careful study” (Leech, 1969, p. 5) It is this careful and licentious use of language in poetry that brings “…about an alienation of poetic language from everyday language” (Leech 1969, p. 19). With morphological deviation, the focus will be put on morphemes or words being the lowest meaningful unit(s) of syntactic organisation. Morphemes are building blocks for words. One way of producing morphological deviation is by adding an ending to a word it would not normally be added to. This is achieved by affixation (adding prefixes and suffixes to words). Morphological deviation concerns the use of morphemes (building blocks of words) (Short 1996, p. 51). Morphemes are either said to be “bound” if they are part of others or “free” if they can stand alone as complete words. This article will also explicate the reason(s) for which Timothy Wangusa uses morphological deviation in his poetry. Previous studies on Timothy Wangusa are on issues of originality and conclude that Timothy Wangusa’s poetry was greatly influenced by classical and western literary traditions (Alfredo Okello 2005). Other studies on Timothy Wangusa are on novels and his short story and as such, they focus on aspects like themes and narrative techniques but not morphological deviation. This leaves much to be studied on the variable of morphological deviation in Timothy Wangusa’s Africa’s New Brood. This study is intended to exactly fill such gaps and create new insights into Timothy Wangusa’s poetry. This justifies why this research article is worthwhile as it evaluates how Timothy Wangusa employs morphological deviation to create foregrounding.

The question of the relationship between religion and power in the post-secular era, as well as the problem of social inequality of new religious movements with traditional religions, is a real challenge, and not only to social sciences. The relevance of the topic reveals the inevitability of analyzing the phenomenon of the revival of religiosity, in which complex processes of lack of trust, the interconnection of systemic development and religious security take place. The search for solutions to the problem requires an understanding of historical experience, including an appeal to socio-philosophical analysis. The article presents a reflection on the principles in solving problems related to the prevention of the influence of destructive religious groups. The proposed example of a socio-philosophical analysis of the problem under study, as one of several interrelationships between religion, power, education and humanism, is carried out through the concepts of “spiritual security”, “religious security”, “education”, “critical thinking” and “confessional stability”. In conclusion, a thesis is proposed that allows a multi-level and deeper discussion of the problem with the ability to formulate real solutions and their conditions.

Securing both the patient and radiopharmaceuticals (RPs) circuit is an essential concern in nuclear medicine (NM). These circuits converge at the RP administration phase, a key step in patient management in NM. In a continuous quality improvement approach, we developed and implemented an evaluation of professional practices (EPPs) methodology focused on RPs injection to identify and correct deviations from good practices. The nuclear medicine technologists (NMTs) of a single center were evaluated. A specific audit grid was designed for this purpose, covering 4 main themes. Following the audit campaign, an improvement action plan was set up to address the non-conformities observed. Nine NMTs were audited on 4 RPs injections each. The mean total score was 93.36% with, on average, 7.01% and 3.00% of unmet and partially met criteria, respectively. In view of the non-compliance rates of hygiene and radiation protection items, theoretical reviews of these themes were included in the improvement action plan. As a part of the quality assurance system of a healthcare unit, EPPs are useful for identifying and correcting practice deviations at an early stage. They should be regularly repeated and combined with rigorous training and qualification of operators involved in RPs injection.

В статье представлены факты и динамика девиантного поведения граждан СНГ мужского пола за период с 2014 по 2016 год, прибывших в Россию в качестве мигрантов*. Автор полагает, что представленный эмпирический материал о криминальном поведении мигрантов, в недалеком прошлом пребывавших в Российской Федерации, может способствовать формированию современной отечественной миграционной практики, а также не исключает возможности создания на перспективу вероятностной модели поведения трудовых мигрантов на территории Российской Федерации. Выявлена тенденция опережающего роста количества осужденных из числа мигрантов СНГ в сравнении с увеличением общего количества осужденных мужчин в России. Анализ фактического материала позволил получить представление о мотивах прибытия мигрантов в Россию и, в частности, о причинах их девиантного поведения, основной из которых являлась неспособность их адаптации к новым условиям пребывания. На основе факта совершения преступления мигрантами главным образом в одиночку делается вывод об отсутствии в их среде организованной преступности и слияния с местными криминальными элементами. Выявлена зависимость степени криминальности мигрантов от их принадлежности к гражданам государств – членов Таможенного союза ЕАЭС. Выходцы из этих государств совершали преступления значительно реже. The article presents the facts and dynamics of deviant behavior of male citizens of the CIS for the period from 2014 to 2016, who arrived in Russia as migrants*. The author believes that the empirical material presented on the criminal behavior of migrants who lived in the Russian Federation in the recent past can contribute to the formation of modern domestic migration practice, and also does not exclude the possibility of creating a probabilistic model of the behavior of labor migrants in the Russian Federation in the future. The tendency of outpacing growth in the number of convicted migrants from the CIS in comparison with the increase in the total number of convicted men in Russia has been revealed. An analysis of the factual material made it possible to get an idea of the motives for the arrival of migrants in Russia and, in particular, the reasons for their deviant behavior, the main of which was their inability to adapt to new conditions of stay. On the basis of the fact that a crime was committed by migrants, mainly alone, it is concluded that there is no organized crime in their environment and a merger with local criminal elements. The dependence of the degree of criminality of migrants on their belonging to the citizens of the states – members of the Customs Union of the EAEU is revealed. Natives of these states committed crimes much less frequently. In general, the thesis about the migration of citizens from the CIS countries to Russia as a factor to a large extent criminogenic is substantiated. * Аrticle was written on the basis of the analytical material of the research institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia (2017), which presents the statistical reporting of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, as well as the statistical data of the Judicial Department under the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, received from 43 territorial bodies of the penitentiary system, located in six federal districts of the Russian Federation for the period 2014–2016.

The Strong Interest Inventory and its predecessors have been the subject of decades of research. Many studies have used Holland's Six General Occupational Themes, and some have explored the 23 Basic Interest Scales. The literature addresses IQ in vocational counseling and includes studies relating Holland's themes and the 23 interest scales. The subjects included a nationwide sample of 894 13- to 65-yr.-olds tested during the standardization of the Kaufman Adolescent and Adult Intelligence Test. Multivariate analyses of variance were conducted with age, gender, and IQ on the intelligence test as independent variables, and the six Holland themes and 23 interest scales as dependent variables. IQ was related to Investigative and Artistic themes. Individuals with high IQs scored nearly one standard deviation higher than individuals with low IQs on each of these scales. A number of Basic Interest Scales correlated significantly with IQs, most of which were associated with either the Investigative or Artistic themes. Correlations of IQ with Holland Themes and scores on Basic Interest Scales were observed for both genders. The information gained from an individually administered intelligence test can enhance interpretation of the Holland themes and interest scales for vocational counseling.

The results of complex studies of the basins of the small rivers Dzhuryn, Gnizna, Nichlava, from the point of view of the transformation of natural complexes, the introduction of optimal forms of nature use and effective systems of nature protection for the effective management of the process of ecological, social and economic development are highlighted. Land use optimization models of basin systems have been developed, and an integrated network of nature conservation areas and protected and recreational facilities has been substantiated. The conducted comparative analysis of hydro-ecological, nature protection and land use parameters made it possible to establish. The problems of nature management and nature protection in the river basin are closely related. Analysis of the structure of nature use, the ratio of ecologically safe and ecologically dangerous forms within the upper, middle and lower reaches of river valleys demonstrates the degree of balanced nature use and the effectiveness of nature protection regimes. The development of the materials of the monograph took place in the process of field research by the authors as part of data collection for writing candidate and master theses. In addition, the authors rely on their own publications in scientific periodicals and approbation of materials in reports at scientific forums on the problems of nature management and nature protection in the basins of the small rivers Dzhuryn, Nichlava, and Gnizna. Special attention is paid to small rivers, because they perform extremely important functions in the formation of the hydrological regime of surface waters, directly influencing the system of relations with the local population, being in natural resource relations with them. Small rivers are the only water arteries in settlements, performing economic, recreation and health, aesthetic, climate-regulatory functions. Their general condition is derived from the peculiarities of interaction of local communities with the natural environment, which is based on the principles of productive life of people in harmony with nature. Achieving harmonious relationships primarily depends on the level of ecological culture of citizens, their tolerant and responsible attitude towards nature. The small rivers of Western Podillia: Dzhuryn, Gnizna, Nichlava were considered in a comparative analysis with the aim of highlighting general and individual deviations of basic parameters from their normative values, substantiating measures for their optimization. The object of the research is the basins of small rivers of Western Podillia: Dzhuryn, Gnizna, Nichlava. The subject is a comparative analysis of hydrogeoecological and nature protection parameters of anthropogenic influence on their basins. The general similarity of the natural and climatic conditions of the territory, the proximity of the location does not guarantee the similarity of anthropogenic loads on river basins. The conducted comparative analysis of hydroecological and nature protection parameters of river basins demonstrated. low forest coverage of the territories, which will contribute to increased soil erosion, a specific water and wind regime, less intensive assimilation of greenhouse gases, etc. The indicators of the protection of river basins differ significantly, but all of them are significantly inferior to the optimal value within 10.5%. The indicators of plowing of river basins differ significantly. They are significantly higher than the normative ones by approximately 2 times. The negative consequences of excessive plowing are manifested in increased erosion processes, activation of surface runoff into the river washed humus horizon with mineral, organic fertilizers, toxic chemicals, which definitely manifests itself in the deterioration of water quality. The high built-up area of the Nichlava river basin has a negative impact on the growth of pollution by domestic sewage, solid household waste, the absence of water protection zones within the boundaries of settlements, etc. In general, we have reason to claim that the river landscapes are highly economically developed due to the dominance of anthropogenic lands, on almost 2/3 of the area. Accordingly, the indices of anthropogenic transformation of natural lands by economic activity are high. Key words: small river, Western Podillia, Gnizna, Dzhuryn, Nichlava.

Purpose: The study aims to identify the theme list and priority criteria of patient safety theme reports in South Korea.Methods: The survey was conducted twice, and the importance of each criterion and theme was measured on a nine-point scale using the Delphi technique by a panel of 19 patient safety experts. The criteria included severity, universality, preventability, and organizational-social impact. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, median, and interval quartile range were used to analyze the data.Results: The parameters were assigned a weighted average of 35% for severity, 20% for universality, 30% for preventability, and 15% for organizational-social impact, respectively. The final top three rankings were surgery safety, blood transfusion safety, and medication safety. In addition to expert opinion, for the theme that is selected based on the priority ranking, one to five sub-topics can be derived from the theme based on the priority ranking, societal demands, or the yearly priority list of patient safety incidents.Conclusion: It is recommended that the official patient safety center distribute the report in the form of a summary that can be utilized nationwide at medical institutions, government institutions, and other places. Updates, as well as accumulated theme reports, will serve as the baseline data for the proposal of the system and for the policy designed to implement and improve institutions’ safety practices as a standard of domestic patient safety practice guidelines.

This research aimed to investigate undergraduate EFL students’ perception towards the use of Microsoft Word Referenceson students’ thesis and factors that influence the perception. This research used a sequential mixed method. There were 25 students from 7th semester of English Language Education, Ganesha University of Education, involved in this research.The research instruments were questionnaire and interview. The results from the questionnaires were analyzed usingmean score ideal (Mi) and standard deviation ideal (SDi), and data from the interviews were analyzed using interactivemodel analysis by Miles and Huberman. From the ideal mean score analysis, the mean score of undergraduate EFLstudents’ perception towards the use of Microsoft Word References on students’ thesis was 41.84, which was categorizedas average. This means Microsoft Word References can be used in managing citation and reference in thesis writing.Moreover, the interview result shows 11 factors that influence undergraduate EFL students’ perception towards the use ofMicrosoft Word References on students’ thesis, namely attitudes, motives, interests, expectations, novelty, motion, size,background, proximity, and time. The factors build two trends, positive and negative perceptions.

Twelve women suffering from premenstrual syndrome (PMS) were monitored over eight weeks to focus on the psychological processes involved in this menstrual disorder. PMS symptomatology, perceived stress, and coping efficacy were examined. Significant cyclical changes occurred in all three variables with the highest deviations appearing premenstrually. The relationship between coping strategies and the severity of symptoms was also studied. Qualitative analysis revealed themes pertinent to an understanding of PMS. It is suggested that alternative treatment options besides pharmacological intervention should be made available to PMS sufferers.

A subject of this study is the behavior of the tail of the binomial distribution in the case of the Poisson approximation. The deviation from unit of the ratio of the tail of the binomial distribution and that of the Poisson distribution, multiplied by the correction factor, is estimated. A new type of approximation is introduced when the parameter of the approximating Poisson law depends on the point at which the approximation is performed. Then the transition to the approximation by the Poisson law with the parameter equal to the mathematical expectation of the approximated binomial law is carried out. In both cases error estimates are obtained. A number of conjectures are made about the refinement of the known estimates for the Kolmogorov distance between binomial and Poisson distributions.

The paper examines applicability of Inglehart?s model of dimensions of traditional/secular-rational values and survival/self expresion values, based on European Values Study data, conducted in Serbia in 2008. Dimensions of values are extracted by applying nonlinear principal component analysis, with asigning ordinal level of analysis. We present three-dimensional solution which separates dimension of survival/self expresion values into two dimensions. The deviations from the two-dimensional model were interpreted in accordance with the theory of revised modernization and thesis about value change in dependance of sociocultural paths of developement of society.
