Анотація:
The effect of case based learning on 10th grade students&rsquo
academic achievement in the unit of human reproductive system and their perceived motivation (Intrinsic Goal Orientation, Extrinsic Goal Orientation and Task Value) was investigated in this study. The study was conducted during 2007-2008 spring semester in a private high school in Ankara, Turkey. A total of 80 (48 males and 32 females) tenth grade students from four biology classes of two teachers were involved in the study. One class of each individual teacher was assigned as control group and the other class of the same teacher was assigned as experimental group to sustain randomization. Two of the classes assigned as experimental group were instructed with case based learning, while two classes of the control group were received traditionally designed biology instruction. In the experimental group, two cases that are divided into several parts were assigned in an interrupted manner. Students learned the human reproductive system via cases in experimental group without any additional method. The cases include incomplete data and students were needed to search for and discuss to answer the questions posed in the cases and by themselves and to complete the data. When the students completed a part of the case, next part was distributed. While dealing with the dilemma presented in cases, students did independent study as well as group work. In the control group, instruction was based on teacher explanations and web based notes prepared by the biology department of the high school. Human Reproductive System Achievement Test, Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire were administered as pre-test and post-test to the students in both groups to measure the students&rsquo
academic achievement in the unit of human reproductive system
and their perceived motivation
specifically, task value, intrinsic goal orientation, and extrinsic goal orientation. Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) was used to investigate the effect of case based learning on the students&rsquo
academic achievement in the unit of human reproductive system and their perceived motivation. Results revealed that case based learning improved students&rsquo
academic achievement and task value.

In recent years, the type-2 fuzzy sets theory has been used to model and minimize the effects of uncertainties in rule-base fuzzy logic system. In order to make the type-2 fuzzy logic system reasonable and reliable, a new simple and novel statistical method to decide interval-valued fuzzy membership functions and a new probability type reduced reasoning method for the interval-valued fuzzy logic system are proposed in this thesis. In order to optimize this particle system’s performance, we adopt genetic algorithm (GA) to adjust parameters. The applications for the new system are performed and results have shown that the developed method is more accurate and robust to design a reliable fuzzy logic system than type-1 method and the computation of our proposed method is more efficient.

The study of material properties, is in many times done by observation of the material behavior under some vibrations. This vibrations can be measure with a laser vibrometer which has a laser beam that measures using the doppler e ect. This device is available at University of Aveiro, but it is a single point vibrometer, which means that the beam direction is the same as the vibrometer, meaning that, to measure another point it is necessary to move the device. To avoid such issue, it was incorporates, on a system on which a device that de ects the laser beam into desirable locations was added. The process of choosing the points is made using a Kinect which acts as a 3D scanner. To de ect the laser beam of the vibrometer, a galvanometer was used which control is made by an Arduino. The Arduino communicates with MATLAB via Serial communication. Several numerical strategies to de ne automatically a measuring mesh are tested in order to identify their limitations and advantages.
O estudo das propriedades dos materiais é muitas vezes realizado a partir da observação do seu comportamento sobre determinados estímulos, tal como vibrações. Estas vibrações podem ser medidas com recurso a um vibrómetro laser sendo que este dispositivo emite um feixe laser e efetua as medições com recurso ao efeito de doppler. Tal dispositivo está disponível na Universidade de Aveiro, sendo este um vibrómetro de ponto único, o que significa que a direção do feixe laser é a direção do vibrómetro, sendo que para obter uma medição noutro ponto é necessário mover o dispositivo. De modo a ultrapassar essa limitação, foi criado um dispositivo onde é incorporado o vibrómetro laser de modo a direcionar o feixe laser para posições pré-definidas. A escolha dos pontos para medição é feita com recurso, a uma câmera Kinect que atua como um scanner 3D. Para deflectir o feixe laser proveniente do vibrómetro foi usado um galvanómetro de espelhos cujo controlo é feito a partir de um Arduino Uno que comunica com o software em MATLAB através de comunicação serie. São analisadas diversas metodologias de definição automática de malha de pontos.

Quivers (directed graphs) and species (a generalization of quivers) as well as their representations play a key role in many areas of mathematics including combinatorics, geometry, and algebra. Their importance is especially apparent in their applications to the representation theory of associative algebras, Lie algebras, and quantum groups. In this thesis, we discuss the most important results in the representation theory of species, such as Dlab and Ringel’s extension of Gabriel’s theorem, which classifies all species of finite and tame representation type. We also explain the link between species and K-species (where K is a field). Namely, we show that the category of K-species can be viewed as a subcategory of the category of species. Furthermore, we prove two results about the structure of the tensor ring of a species containing no oriented cycles that do not appear in the literature. Specifically, we prove that two such species have isomorphic tensor rings if and only if they are isomorphic as “crushed” species, and we show that if K is a perfect field, then the tensor algebra of a K-species tensored with the algebraic closure of K is isomorphic to, or Morita equivalent to, the path algebra of a quiver.

A realtime wireless motion tracking system is developed. The system is capable of tracking the orientations of multiple wireless sensors, using a semi-distributed implementation to reduce network bandwidth and latency, to produce real-time animation of rigid body models, such as the human skeleton. The system has been demonstrated to be capable of full-body posture tracking of a human subject using fifteen devices communicating with a basestation over a single, low bandwidth, radio channel. The thesis covers the theory, design, and implementation of the tracking platform, the evaluation of the platform’s performance, and presents a summary of possible future applications.

This work deals with decision-making problems with uncertain information in dynamic environment. It develops a new logic system, multi-valued temporal propositional logic, combining multi-valued logic and linear temporal logic. This new logic allows uncertain information to be represented with either a numerical truth value in the [0,1] interval or a linguistic value, and uses these values with both states and same-time and next-time rules. Multi-valued temporal propositional logic, a generic logic system, provides a simple calculus for analysing uncertain information with Lukasiewicz implication algebra. It introduces uncertainty and temporality into rules. Soundness and completeness theorems provide a theoretical foundation for the reasoning system. Based on the new logic, forward and backward reasoning algorithms are proposed, which offers simulation/prediction and query answering functions. The reasoning system, based on the forward and backward reasoning algorithms was programmed in Pro log. Three scenarios were then used to evaluate this reasoning system. The results of the evaluations showed that the proposed reasoning system could return reliable and reasonable feedback to users on their input. Furthermore, users are able to perfect their knowledge bases according to the feedback from the reasoning system on their input. A general comparison between the reasoning system and dynamic Bayesian networks with a simple scenario with uncertain information in a certain temporal environment was undertaken. Within this comparison, an analysis of advantages and disadvantages between the proposed reasoning system and dynamic ~ Bayesian networks has been provided.

The grid orientation effect is a long-standing problem plaguing reservoir simulators that employ finite difference schemes. A rotation of the computational grids yields a substantially different solution under certain circumstances. For example, in a five-spot pattern, the predicted recovery, water cut performance and the locations of the fronts depend on the type of grid system used. A Cartesian grid with one axis parallel to the line joining an injector and producer gives a solution significantly different from a grid that has the axes oriented at 45° to this line. This study develops a unique grid-block assignment where rectangular grid blocks are interspersed with octagonal grid blocks. This grid block system is called the Hybrid Grid Block (HGB) system. The objective of this study is to evaluate the grid orientation effect of the HGB grid to see whether it is an improvement over the conventional Cartesian grid system. In HGB, flow can progress in four directions in the octagonal grid blocks and two in the square grid blocks. The increase in the number of flow directions in the octagonal grid blocks is expected to reduce the grid orientation effect in the model. Hence, this study also evaluates the grid orientation effect of the HGB and compares it with the Cartesian grid system. To test the viability of HGB, a general purpose finite difference IMPES-formulated two-dimensional black oil simulator was developed in this study, while retaining the familiar finite-difference discretization of the flow equations. Several simulation cases were conducted to compare HGB and conventional grid block systems. Comparisons with commercial simulator are also made. Despite the fact that the reservoir is isotropic and homogeneous, grid orientation effect was still observed when rectangular Cartesian grid models are run at mobility ratio, M = 1.0. Grid refinement can help to reduce the grid orientation effect in rectangular Cartesian grid models when there are favorable mobility ratios, i.e. M = 1.0 or less. However, at an unfavorable mobility ratio of M = 10.0, it is found that neither parallel nor diagonal orientation can be used reliably for the displacement problems run in this study. This is because as the number of grid blocks is increased, the performance of diagonal and parallel models actually diverges for the grid spacings investigated here. On the other hand, HGB grid is able to reduce the grid orientation effect even for unfavorable mobility ratio displacement problems (up to M = 50.0), with maximum relative difference in pore volume recovered of 6% between parallel and diagonal HGB grid models for all the cases run in this study. Comparisons between the conventional Cartesian and HGB grid show that the HGB grid is more effective in reducing the grid orientation effect than the Cartesian grid. The HGB grid performs better by consistently giving a smaller relative difference between HGB parallel grid and HGB diagonal grid in pore volume recovered (6.0, 4.5, 3.3, and 2.2%) compared to the relative difference between Cartesian parallel grid and Cartesian diagonal grid in pore volume recovered (17.0, 13.0, 9.3, 7.9%) at similar averaged area per grid block for all the four comparison cases studied.

Nonlinear systems of equations in complex domain are frequently encountered in applied mathematics, e.g., power systems, signal processing, control theory, neural networks and biomedicine, to name a few. The solution of these problems often requires a first- or second-order approximation of these nonlinear functions to generate a new step or descent direction to meet the solution iteratively. However, such methods cannot be applied to real functions of complex variables because they are necessarily non-analytic in their argument, i.e., the Taylor series expansion in their argument alone does not exist. To overcome this problem, the nonlinear function is usually redefined as a function of the real and imaginary parts of its complex argument so that standard methods can be applied. Although not widely known, it is possible to build an expansion of these nonlinear functions in its original complex variables by noting that functions of complex variables can be analytic in their argument and its complex conjugate as a whole. This property lies in the fact that if a function is analytic in the space spanned by ℜ{} and ℑ{}in ℝ, it is also analytic in the space spanned by and * in ℂ. The main contribution of this work is the application of this methodology to a complex Taylor series expansions aiming algorithms commonly used for solving complex-valued nonlinear systems of equations emerged from power systems problems. In our proposal, a complex-valued power ow analysis (CV PFA) model solved by Newton-Raphson method is revisited and enhanced. Nonetheless, especially emphasis is addressed to Gauss-Newton method when derived in complex domain for solving power system state estimation (CV PSSE) problems, whichever they are applied in transmission or distribution systems. The factorization method of the complex Jacobian matrices emerged from CV PFA and CV PSSE approaches is the Three Angle Complex Rotation (TACR) algorithm that comes from the Givens Rotations algorithm in real domain. In this research one demonstrates that Wirtinger derivatives can lead to greater insights in the structure of both problems, i.e., CV PFA & CV PSSE. Moreover, it can often be exploited to mitigate computational overhead, storage cost and enhance the network's component modeling as FACTS devices, e.g., STATCOM, VSC-HVDC, besides easily handle PMU measurements and embedding new technologies towards smart grids. Finally, in order to add numerical robustness, a fourth-order Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is employed to the CV PFA & CV PSSE approaches because of its nice bi-quadratic convergence property, instead of the well-known quadratic convergence property of the classical Newton-Raphson and Gauss-Newton algorithms. Recall that these latter algorithms are prone to collapse when the power system network is ill-conditioned, i.e., it is heavily loaded or presents branches with high R/X ratio. These results are partially presented in this thesis because they are still under study and development. But most of them will appear in forthcoming papers submitted to IEEE-PES Transactions on Power Systems and coming up Top Conferences.

The ultimate goal of this project is to develop a fixture for holding and manipulating an ultrasound wand as adeptly as a trained technician. From the 2D slices recorded by an ultrasound transducer, a three-dimensional image can be reconstructed. To reconstruct the 3D image, position and orientation data are needed. In the interests of space and simplicity, a sensor integrating both a gyroscope and accelerometer was chosen for these measurements. Because of the inherent error induced by integrating acceleration to yield position, it was necessary to calibrate this instrument. A fixture was constructed with preset reference points for the purposes of comparison and error analysis. As expected, the measurements obtained directly from the gyroscope were sufficiently accurate to track orientation. The position values from integration of acceleration exhibited accumulation of error over time. From these data, it was clear that a secondary reference instrument is needed for accurate position measurements.

Flight control of small spacecraft is one of the most time-consuming and complex components of the process of their operation. This is especially true for small spacecraft, designed to implement modern space programs. As follows from the existing experience of creation and operation of small spacecraft, the reliability and safety of their flight are determined not only by the perfection of the aircraft, but also the quality of methods, tools and flight control systems. In addition, the requirements for control systems affect the appearance and characteristics of the small spacecraft , its systems and onboard software.

Особливо це стосується малих космічних кораблів, призначених для реалізації сучасних космічних програм. The “Software as a Service” model in service-oriented computing allows loosely coupled software components to be designed and integrated with other software systems. Web services, together with service-oriented architectures, are promising integration technology to facilitate legacy system Webification. However, since most components in a legacy system were not designed and developed as services, the current software systems need to be converted into a set of loosely coupled services. Therefore, a service-oriented software reengineering process is essential for legacy systems to survive in the service-oriented computing environment. In this service-oriented software reengineering process, understanding, decomposing and reusing legacy code turn to be important activities. In this thesis, a methodology for Service-Oriented Software Reengineering (SOSR) is proposed to support the identification, extraction and integration of reusable legacy code. According to both the result of legacy system assessment and a service-oriented analysis and design process, a reengineering decision is made by proposed rules. Based on the service-oriented software reengineering decision, ontologies for SOSR, which consists of Domain Concept Ontology (DCO), Functionality Ontology (FO) and Software Component Ontology (SCO), are developed by the ontology development methodologies. These ontologies store knowledge on both application domain and code entities, which support further legacy code analysis. The identification of service candidates in legacy systems is achieved by mapping FO and SCO via a novel method combining Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) and Relational Concept Analysis (RCA). After the service candidates are identified, the reusable legacy code is extracted by dependency analysis and program slicing. Some rules are defined in code query language for the detection of dead code. Program slicing techniques are applied as main reverse engineering techniques to recover executable legacy code. An Executable Union Slicing (EUS) algorithm is defined to generate executable legacy components with high cohesion and low coupling properties. In the integration phase, extracted legacy components with core legacy code can either be wrapped into Web services for the service orchestration in the business layer, or be composed in a software service provider. The proposed SOSR methodology is proved flexible and practical to migrate legacy applications to service-oriented architectures by the case studies. It can be customised according to different legacy systems. This methodology can help software developers and maintainers to reengineer the tightly coupled legacy information systems to the loosely coupled and agile information systems.

In this report the feasibility of using a dual-tag setup in an indoor positioning system was investigated. The reason for the dual-tag setup was to be able to estimate both position and orientation. The system was designed using UWB-technology, with an time of flight trilateration algorithm to calculate the position. The orientation was then estimated from the relative position between the two tags. The system was tested both with stationary tags, but also with the tags moving along two paths. These tests were conducted for different separation distance between the tags, namely 20 cm, 30 cm and 40 cm. The result was that the mean position error for stationary tags was less than 8 cm for all separations and the mean orientation error was less than 3$^\circ$ for all separations. For the moving tag tests a decrease of the error in orientation of about 30 \% could be observed for a separation of 30 and 40 cm compared to 20 cm. However this difference is small in absolute values so more tests are needed to draw any conclusion about whether 30 and 40 cm tag separation performs better than 20 cm tag separation. The performance of the system could also be increased further by optimizing the anchor placement as well as the calibration of the antenna delays of the UWB-modules.

In the future an automatic robot fabrication system is envisioned, that would enable a non-specialist user to parametrically design, and autonomously manufacture a bespoke robot, without the need for manual intervention or assembly. Additive Manufacturing (AM) is an attractive method for this as it is digitally driven and tooling free, which increases the speed and flexibility of production, while reducing costs for low volumes. Another unique capability of AM is the ability to embed components within the structure of a robot, while it is being manufactured. However, the state of the art embedding methods involve a series of manual steps. Additive manufacturing also has some inherent limitations which arise from building up parts from many discrete, planar layers. These include; anisotropic mechanical properties; curves approximated by discontinuous steps; and overhangs requiring support. Addressing these issues, while also enabling functional mechatronic components to be embedded, requires a new approach to Additive Manufacturing. This work introduces a novel 12-axis Additive Robot Manufacturing System (ARMS). This is shown to successfully 3D print high quality parts, comparable to other Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) systems, using industrial robot arms. Using the multiaxis (i.e. > 3 axes) capabilities, it is demonstrated that the orientation of a print with respect to gravity has no effect upon its surface quality, but the relative orientation of the geometry to the layers has a significant influence. Using this relationship, components are printed using a dynamically varying build orientation, enabling unsupported, 90° overhangs with a constant, tuneable roughness to be produced. ARMS is then used to print nonplanar layers with greater curvature than has previously been demonstrated. Conformal layers are shown to improve the strength of curved parts by 57%. The capabilities are combined to manufacture the first mechatronic system with an integrated actuator that required no manual assembly, intervention, or post processing during or following the AM process. It is concluded that the multiaxis AM system successfully improves upon conventional planar deposition by overcoming key drawbacks to FFF, and could be a key enabler to a new AM process for the manufacture of integrated mechatronic and robotic devices.

The ability to control head orientation relative to the body is a multi-sensory process that mainly depends on three sensory pathways namely, proprioceptive, vestibular, and visual. A system to study the sensory integration of head orientation was developed and tested. A test seat with five-point harness was assembled to provide the passive postural support. A light-weight head-mount display (HMD) was designed for mounting multi-axis accelerometers and a mini- CCD camera to provide the visual input to virtual reality (VR) goggles with 39° horizontal field of view. A digitally generated sinusoidal signal was delivered to a motor-driven computer-controlled sled on a 6m linear railing system. A data acquisition system was designed to collect acceleration data. A pilot study was conducted to test the system. Four young healthy subjects were seated with their trunks fixed to the seat. Subjects received a sinusoidal anterior-posterior translation with peak acceleration of 0.06g at 0.1Hz and 0.12g at 0.2Hz, 0.5Hz and 1.1Hz. Four sets of visual conditions were randomly presented along with the translation. These conditions included eyes open looking forward, backward, and sideways, and also eyes closed. Linear acceleration data were collected from linear accelerometers placed on the head, trunk and seat and were processed using Matlab. The head motion was analyzed using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to derive gain and phase of head pitch acceleration relative to seat linear acceleration. A randomization test for two independent variables was used to test significance of visual and inertial effects on response gain and phase shifts. Results show that the gain was close to one with no significant difference among visual conditions across frequencies. The phase was shown to be dependent on the head strategy each subject used. Over the last 30 years, the juvenile justice system and juvenile correctional ideology shifted to become more punitive in nature. However, studies examining this shift are lacking in the literature. The present study will attempt to assess what correctional ideology, rehabilitative or punitive, is dominant within juvenile corrections by conducting a national survey to juvenile facility directors. This study will be based on prior literature, most of which has focused upon line staff in an adult correctional setting. From this prior literature, more specifically from the work of Cullen et al. (1989), scales will be created to determine the correctional orientation of the key administrators in juvenile facilities. This will allow us to assess whether the correctional ideology driving the juvenile system has in fact become punitive. The findings from this study have the opportunity to alter the current status quo in juvenile corrections.

Through discussion with the community health system's administration, it was identified that their current nursing orientation program was not well structured or comprehensive. The nursing staff also reported dissatisfaction with the current program. Therefore, a Doctor of Nursing Practice project commenced to develop an evidence-based nursing orientation program for Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) at a community health system in Virginia. The Competency Outcomes Performance Assessment model guided development of the project through a comprehensive literature review to identify evidence-based data for competencies, learning strategies, and performance evaluations. This review highlighted the importance and benefits of nursing orientation programs as well as the use of evidence-based strategies. As a result of this review, an evidence-based nursing orientation program was developed to meet the needs of the nursing staff as well as the organization. The evidence-based nursing orientation program was translated into an electronic format with an accompanying manual to be used when nurses are hired by the community health system. An advisory board from the organization reviewed the program and their feedback was incorporated. Social change is expected to occur, as nurses will be better prepared for their new position with increased job satisfaction and also to provide optimal care to patients from the community. This project addressed a gap in the literature for generalized nursing orientation programs. Publication in a peer-reviewed journal or oral presentation at the Virginia Community Healthcare Association annual conference was selected for project dissemination.

In this work a comparative analysis of several approaches to fuzzy algebraic structures and comparison of previous approaches to the recent one developed at University of  Novi Sad has been done. Special attention is paid to reducts and expansions of algebraic structures in fuzzy settings. Besides mentioning all the relevant algebras and properties developed in this setting, particular new algebras and properties are developed and investigated. Some new structures, in particular Omega Boolean algebras, Omega Boolean lattices and Omega Boolean rings are developed in the framework of omega structures. Equivalences among these structures are elaborated in details. Transfers from Omega groupoids to Omega groups and back are demonstrated. Moreover, normal subgroups are introduced in a particular way. Their connections to congruences are elaborated in this settings. Subgroups, congruences and normal subgroups are investigated for Ω-groups. These are latticevalued algebraic structures, defined on crisp algebras which are not necessarily groups, and in which the classical equality is replaced by a lattice-valued one. A normal Ω-subgroup is defined as a particular class in an Ω-congruence. Our main result is that the quotient groups over cuts of a normal Ω- subgroup of an Ω-group G, are classical normal subgroups of the corresponding quotient groups over G. We also describe the minimal normal Ω-subgroup of an Ω-group, and some other constructions related to Ω-valued congruences.Further results that are obtained are theorems that connect various approaches of fuzzy algebraic structures. A special notion of a generalized lattice valued Boolean algebra is introduced. The universe of this structure is an algebra with two binary, an unary and two nullary operations (as usual), but which is not a crisp Boolean algebra in general. A main element in our approach is a fuzzy  quivalence relation such that the Boolean algebras identities are approximately satisfied related to the considered fuzzy equivalence. Main properties of the new introduced notions are proved, and a connection with the notion of a structure of a generalized fuzzy lattice is provided.
Ovaj rad bavi se komparativnom analizom različitih pristupa rasplinutim (fazi) algebarskim strukturama i odnosom tih struktura sa odgovarajućim klasičnim   algebrama. Posebna pažnja posvećena je poredenju postojećih pristupa ovom   problemu sa novim tehnikama i pojmovima nedavno razvijenim na Univerzitetu u Novom Sadu. U okviru ove analize, proučavana su i proširenja kao i redukti algebarskih struktura u kontekstu rasplinutih algebri. Brojne važne konkretne algebarske strukture istraživane su u ovom kontekstu, a neke nove uvedene su i ispitane. Bavili smo se detaljnim istrazivanjima Ω-grupa, sa stanovista kongruencija, normalnih podgrupa i veze sa klasicnim grupama. Nove strukture koje su u radu uvedene u posebnom delu, istrazene su sa aspekta svojstava i medusobne ekvivalentnosti. To su Ω-Bulove algebre, kao i odgo-varajuce mreže i Bulovi prsteni. Uspostavljena je uzajamna ekvivalentnost tih struktura analogno odnosima u klasičnoj algebri. U osnovi naše konstrukcije su mrežno vrednosne algebarske strukture denisane na klasičnim algebrama koje ne zadovoljavaju nužno identitete ispunjene na odgovarajucim klasičnim strukturama (Bulove algebre, prsteni, grupe itd.), već su to samo algebre istog tipa. Klasična jednakost zamenjena je posebnom kompatibilnom rasplinutom (mrežno-vrednosnom) relacijom ekvivalencije. Na navedeni nacin i u cilju koji je u osnovi teze (poredenja sa postojecim pristupima u ovoj naucnoj oblasti) proucavane su (vec denisane)  Ω-grupe. U nasim istraživanju uvedene su odgovarajuće normalne podgrupe. Uspostavljena je i istražena njihova veza sa Ω-kongruencijama. Normalna podgrupa  Ω-grupe definisana je kao posebna  klasa Ω-kongruencije. Jedan od rezultata u ovom delu je da su količničke grupe definisane pomocu nivoa Ω-jednakosti klasične normalne podgrupe odgovarajućih količničkih podgrupa polazne  -grupe. I u ovom slučaju osnovna  struktura na kojoj je denisana Ω-grupa je grupoid, ne nužno grupa. Opisane su osobine najmanje normalne podgrupe u terminima Ω-kongruencija, a date su i neke konstrukcije  Ω-kongruencija.Rezultati koji su izloženi u nastavku povezuju različite pristupe nekim mrežno- vrednosnim strukturama. Ω-Bulova algebra je uvedena na strukturi sa dve binarne, unarnom i dve nularne operacije, ali za koju se ne zahteva ispunjenost klasičnih aksioma. Identiteti za Bulove algebre važe kao mrežno-teoretske formule u odnosu na mrežno-vrednosnu jednakost. Klasicne Bulove algebre ih zadovoljavaju, ali obratno ne vazi: iz tih formula ne slede standardne aksiome za Bulove algebre. Na analogan nacin uveden je i  Ω-Bulov prsten. Glavna svojstva ovih struktura su opisana. Osnovna osobina je da se klasične Bulove algebre odnosno Bulovi prsteni javljaju kao količničke strukture na nivoima Ω -jednakosti. Veza ove strukture sa Ω-Bulovom mrežom je pokazana.Kao ilustracija ovih istraživanja, u radu je navedeno više primera.

With the constant evolution of software systems need arises for more structured implementations, where processes like software updates and changes in systems can be easily made, with no need to change what had previously been implemented. One possible solution to this problem is the use of component-based programming languages. This kind of programming languages tries to promote not only code reuse but also a black-box discipline where it is not needed how a service is implemented, but only its interface so that it can be used. The ComponentJ programming language seeks to provide a simple way to perform component creation and composition, making this new programming paradigm somewhat easy to use. Because ComponentJ is meant to be an extension to the Java programming language it becomes possible to implement components using the whole expressiveness of this language. It is also possible, in ComponentJ, to dynamically change components and the object structure based on runtime decisions. This dynamic reconfiguration process allows, for instance, to perform changes/updates to a certain software system without having to stop its execution. The goal for this project is to implement a type system for the ComponentJ programming language, based on the work presented in [32, 28]. Type verification is syntax driven, and uses structural equivalence of types. Advanced techniques such as subtyping and type inference are also included in order to make the language more flexible. Besides the static type checker, a dynamic checker is also included, allowing the type safe application of runtime changes to the system (dynamic reconfiguration of objects) before their application.

Today the modern power system is more dynamic and its operation is a subject to a number of constraints that are reflected in various management and planning tools used by system operators. In the case of hourly generation planning, Economic Dispatch (ED) allocates the outputs of all committed generating units, which are previously identified by the solution of the Unit Commitment (UC) problem. Thus, the accurate solutions of the ED and UC problems are essential in order to operate the power system in an economic and efficient manner. A number of computation techniques have progressively been proposed to solve these critical issues. One of them is a Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO), which belongs to the evolutionary computation techniques, and it has attracted a great attention of the research community since it has been found to be extremely effective in solving a wide range of engineering problems. The attractive characteristics of PSO include: ease of implementation, fast convergence compared with the traditional evolutionary computation techniques and stable convergence characteristic. Although the PSO algorithms can converge very quickly towards the optimal solutions for many optimisation problems, it has been observed that in problems with a large number of suboptimal areas (i.e. multi-modal problems), PSO could get trapped in those local minima, including ED and UC problems. Aiming at enhancing the diversity of the traditional PSO algorithms, this thesis proposes a method of combining the PSO algorithms with a real-valued natural mutation (RVM) operator to enhance the global search capability and investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm compared with the standard PSO algorithms and other algorithms. Prior to applying to ED and UC problems, the proposed method is tested with some selected mathematical functions where the results show that it can avoid being trapped in local minima. The proposed methodology is then applied to ED and UC problems, and the obtained results show that it can provide solutions with good accuracy and stable convergence characteristic with simple implementation and satisfactory calculation time. Furthermore, the sensitivity analysis of PSO parameters has been studied so as to investigate the response of the proposed method to the parameter variations, especially in both ED and UC problems. The outcome of this research shows that the proposed method succeeds in dealing with the PSO' s drawbacks and also shows the superiority over the traditional PSO algorithms and other methods in terms of high quality solutions, stable convergence characteristic, and robustness.

The problem of spatial disorientation during flight of aircraft is briefly described, as are definitions of the phenomenon. Traditional countermeasure efforts that are often directed towards changes in the central visual field are reconsidered in favour of presentation of information in the peripheral visual field. It is proposed to use optic flow to support spatial orientation, as well as to omit such information from the central visual field. An experiment was conducted, and results showed that forward visual flow gave very important spatial information. The flow could be cropped to a certain degree in the periphery (horizontally), as well as parts of the central presentation could be omitted without decreasing effects in the experiment. Implications relevant to possible implementations in aircraft are discussed.

The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the relationship between ambivalent sexism, gender related system justification and religious orientation with attitudes toward physical wife abuse (APWA). APWA are investigated in three facets, namely justifiability (JPWA), perceived functionality (PFPWA) and consequences (ACPWA). As measurement tools, Attitudes toward Physical Wife Abuse Scale, Content Domains for Justification of Physical Wife Abuse Scale, Ambivalent Sexism Inventory (ASI), Ambivalence toward Men Inventory (AMI), Revised Muslim Religious Orientation Scale (MROS-R), Gender Related System Justification Scale (GSJ) and demographic information form were used. Although a total of 385 student and non-student participants responded the questionnaire, only 303 (119 males, 184 females) participants who stated their religion to be Islam were included in the study for accurate assessment of Muslim religious orientation. The age range of the participants was between 17 and 72 (M=27.30
SD= 8.68). Since women and men significantly differed with respect to their APWA, separate hierarchical multiple regression analyses were conducted in order to further observe the differences between them. Although there were slight differences in unique contributions of the variables for the three subscales of APWAS and for men and women, a general pattern was drawn in which results revealed that intrinsic religious orientation and quest religious orientation were not related to any of the three dimensions of APWA whereas fundamentalist religious orientation was found to be a significant predictor of APWA. Among the dimensions of ASI and AMI, Hostile Sexism (HS) and Benevolence toward Men (BM) predicted more favorable attitudes toward the three dimensions of physical wife abuse, whereas hostility toward men (HM) and benevolent sexism (BS) predicted less favorable attitudes. GSJ was not found to have a unique contribution in predicting any of the three dimensions of APWA. The major contributions of the present study are
1) Investigation of religious orientation as an individual difference affecting APWA first in a Muslim culture, 2) Investigating GSJ first in Turkey and first with relation to APWA and 3) Providing a detailed measurement tool for specific assessment of attitudes toward physical wife abuse in three dimensions and 4) Providing a re-constructed Muslim Religious Orientation Scale which was extended and improved in content, reliability and validity after revision.

This diploma thesis describes values and value orientation of czech and german students of high schools and practicle high schools. The goal of this thesis is to answer the question of different perception of values between adolescents in Czech Republic and Germany (Bavaria). For the purpose of this study a method of questionnaires and essays were used. The main means of research were: ?Test of orientation value? and the LOGO test from Elisabeth Lukas.

The document management is a very common issue either for business or for any person’s daily life. Particularly, the economy dominates the society worldwide right now; it is highly possible that one person might own many different valued-document contracts. These valued-documents include stock, treasure fund, bond and insurance contract. How to manage the documentation efficiently to promote creation and increase competitions is very critical. This study designs and implements a system which utilizes the RFID technology as a tool to manage the valued document (stock and insurance contracts). The RFID tag is attached on top of the documentation and can be scanned by RFID reader. Thus, these valued-documents can provide more useful information and can be identified efficiently, and hope to increase the value-added services. This system implemented in this study can supply quick, efficient and with value-added service for document management.

The main purpose of this paper is to provide a logical package in the Unix system. The package we estabished is not only processing the classical logic which contains two factors,1 and 0,but also processing the multi-valued logicwhich has n fac ors, from 0 to n-1. On the other hand, this computing canwork on the very large nonnegative integers; therefor this computing still works efficiently under different situation and in the different field. In this paper , we disscuss the classical logic, multi- valued logic, the struct of this computing, and the function of this system in details. Also , some examples are shown and checked by this computing to prove that this systemis more function to the common ones.

This study unveils the perceptions, real-life experiences and thought-processes of contract workers who dedicate their lives to the Christian faith, values and belief-system, but simultaneously endeavour to establish and follow a successful career in the volatile, cut-throat, non-Christian-based (“hedonistic”) occupational entertainment commerce. The researcher embarked on this study with a qualitative, interpretivist research approach. Data was gathered through in-depth, unstructured, face-to-face interviews with a sample of nine research participants. The sample consists of student entertainers; entertainers in the public eye, but not yet established; as well as entertainers who have successful established careers with loyal national and international audiences in the Entertainment Industry. The researcher explores and seeks to understand the core values and belief systems of the research participants with regards to their Christian religious orientation, which is statistically verified to be the most prevalent religious practise in South Africa (Nation Master, 2013; Religious affiliation by country, 2010). Hence, the research findings with regards to Christians’ approach and attitude towards their careers will contribute to a better understanding and management of the majority of the workforce in South Africa. Moreover, the expected norms, values and work ethic of the Entertainment Industry in South Africa are exposed in this study. Although existing literature upholds that the Entertainment Industry is an exceptionally unstable work environment compared to other corporate industries, this research study adds significantly to current literature as viable causes for the unstable occupational environment are also investigated and presented. Previous research only addressed several aspects of the effect on one’s career advancement if an individual’s core value system differs from the accepted norms in an organisation or industry in general. This study subsequently reveals the personal- and occupational challenges that Christian entertainers encounter in an Entertainment Industry in South Africa and how they subsequently aim to decrease the cognitive dissonance that they experience due to continuous role conflict between moral obligation and the vital necessity for employment and career advancement. The findings of this study correlate with previous research as it indicates that the research participants will generally choose and prioritise their personal core values- and moral belief system above contradictory social and professional career demands and expectations.

Because of the advance of the technology and fast development of economy, the person wealth and security privacy have become important issues. People use key and password for security in general, but these kinds of tool are inconvenient to carry and maybe have the problem of forgetfulness and loss. Therefore, the personal identification with the biological characteristics is researched by professionals. Biometrics recognitions is the use of a person’s inherent unique physical characteristics or behaviors such as face, fingerprint, palm, signature, iris, voice to verify their identity. In this thesis, we study and discuss the characteristics of fingerprint and utilize unique physical characteristics to verify their identity. Fingerprint is the most widely used characteristic for personal identification because the fingerprints have invariance and uniqueness. We measure the cost and performance that fingerprint is cheap and practically more than the others. Hence, fingerprint recognition has already been used in the court to verify criminal’s identity and it has become one of the important methods of people’s identity. DSP(Digital Signal Processing) has a lot of advantages, such as high integration, reconfiguration, high speed, portable, high density, high capacity, low power consumption and infinitely reconfigurable. We propose an effective pre-process to enhance the fingerprint image. First, we obtain a fingerprint image from a sensor and then use then use Matlab search singular points for classification.

This paper using PBR, size and TCRI to get stock classification. Then get a classification called " high-risk, small size and valued stocks (HSV for short)” and use it to develop a Trading System. The system uses a moving average line and the Joe Granville Rules to form trading signals and multiple-stages buy and sell trading (MBS for short) rules. Three types of studies were done with a variety of time intervals. The annualized rate of return is used as a comparison. Three studies are: HSV with MBS, Taiwan 50 with MBS and Taiwan 50 with buy and hold. From our experiments, HSV with MBS owns the best records either the short term or the long run. Moreover, we examine these systems with the Financial crisis of 2007–08. The HSV with MBS system is still better than the other two types of trading strategies.
