Cette adresse aux designers procède d'une démarche de décentrement anthropologique pour tenter de penser et prendre soin du digital comme spiritual au sens où Derrida interprétait ainsi le processus de questionnement mais aussi la technique chez Heidegger. Cet itinéraire passe par une critique de la notion d'information chez Simondon pour repenser « l'âme des objets ». Il se poursuit par une analyse de la question de la chair à partir de Merleau-Ponty pour proposer le passage d'une « chair souffrante du numérique » à une organologie et une pharmacologie du geste digital. Il aborde enfin ce que Bernard Stiegler nommait les technologies de l'esprit, par le prisme de l'intuition bergsonienne et de la transduction simondonienne pour réintroduire la pensée analogique dans le design numérique d'une bienveillance dispositive, condition techno-esthétique, éthique, cosmotechnique et politique du développement du bien commun et des savoirs
This address to designers stems from an approach of anthropological decentering to think and take care of the digital as spiritual in the sense that Derrida designated the process of questioning but also the of technique in Heidegger. This route goes through a critique of the notion of information in Simondon to try to rethink "the soul of objects". It continues with an analysis of the question of the Flesh from Merleau-Ponty to propose the passage from a "digital suffering flesh" to an organology and a pharmacology of the digital gesture. Finally, it approaches what Bernard Stiegler called the technologies of the through the prism of Bergsonian intuition and Simondonian transduction to reintroduce analogical thought into the digital design of a dispositive benevolence, techno-estheú, cosmotechnic, ethical and political condiú)n for the development of the common good and of knowledge

Esta tese utiliza Jogos de Empresa como laboratório de pesquisa sobre decisões empresariais com sistemas especialistas probabilísticos feitos a partir de SPIRIT. SPIRIT apresenta uma nova maneira de pensar sobre o processo de suporte à decisão em várias áreas. Nesta tese foi criado um Sistema Especialista Probabilístico de Apoio à Tomada de Decisão, que serve como ferramenta para a sugestão de decisões das equipes que participam das simulações do Jogo de empresas GI-EPS. Esta ferramenta pode ser utilizada como um auxiliar das equipes na tomada de decisão, bem como um Jogador Automático, capaz de adaptar-se à situação que uma empresa simulada no jogo se encontra, tomando as decisões no lugar de uma equipe real. Como resultado dos trabalhos de criação deste sistema uma nova abordagem de desenvolvimento é proposta, representada por um método para geração de regras a partir de uma amostra, além da avaliação da qualidade da amostra para treinamento. Sendo que esta abordagem é voltada às características e recursos específicos da ferramenta SPIRIT, utilizada nesta tese. Esta abordagem é baseada no uso dos recursos da ferramenta, que outros softwares da mesma categoria ou não dispõe, ou então dispõe de maneira menos eficiente, como o agrupamento de variáveis (LEG), e o uso da entropia na construção da Rede Causal.

The aim of this thesis project was to create something, that has never been there before in motorcycle design. A new, deep collaboration between the future generation of riders and their bikes. It should create a whole new riding experience. And this experience should be inspirational and new to several fi elds of transportation design besides motorcycling. The process started with the research and inspiration fi nding. It continued with form exploration through sketching, ergonomic tests and photoshop sketches. The whole process was based on an interdisciplinary working method. Being in touch with modelers, engineers, generative designers, color and trim designers was an essential part of the project. The interdisciplinary work continued digitally, with many different types of software. Creating the 3D visualisation of the project required the use of Alias, Cinema 4D, Rhino, Grasshopper, Fuse, Speedform, Maya and VRED. Frequently reviews on the current project status and taking part in technical meetings, along with responsible designers at BMW, in combination with weekly reviews with the university, structured the time plan throughout the whole project. As well as fl ying to the university for check-ups and presentations. BMW Spirit provides a revolutionary experience for future motorcycle riders. Focusing on the interaction between the rider and the bike, it creates the opportunity to build a deep relationship. Since AI becomes more and more important in our daily lives developing ways of human-machine interactions will be crucial for our future. The concept is focused on the opportunities it could bring to combine an Artifi cial Intelligence with motorcycling. BMW Spirit creates a human-machine symbiosis and is controlled like an extension of the human body, with intuitive movements. The built in Artifi cial Intelligence is the rider’s companion and develops its own character and consciousness over time. It learns and grows together with the rider and adapted to the rider. Growing trust enables more possibilities to push the limits and enjoying the power of this unique riding experience.

‘Entirely oblivious to the events unfolding on the “other shore,” Europe tolerated that the Mediterranean, her sea, would turn into a graveyard,’ (Cacciari 2016: viii) These words from the Italian philosopher Massimo Cacciari’s 2016 study on Europe and Empire indicate to us how Europe today still suffers from a “historical emphysema.” This thesis addresses the question of how these pulmonary difficulties of Europe are related to the process of a history in which the name of Europe comes to be related to and even identified with what is called “spirit.” As is well known, Europe has been conceived as ‘no more than a geographical accident, the peninsula that Asia shoves into the Atlantic’ (Sartre 1988: 292). However, the thesis argues that another definition of Europe, even if intimately bound up with its geography, comes to the fore as the spirit of Europe. In order to bring to light the “spiritual geography” of Europe, I focus primarily on two strands of the twentieth century philosophical inquiry into the notion of “Europe;” one by the German philosopher Martin Heidegger and the other by the French poet and thinker Paul Valéry. The argument is that what these two thinkers achieve in their thought testifies to the history of an ambiguous relation between Europe and spirit. For both thinkers Europe appears as such only as it is shaped and reshaped by this spiritual relation, one which Europe today retains in its absence, that is, in its spiritlessness.

Detta examensarbete är gjort för Väderstadverken AB i syfte att utreda om det är möjligt och vilka effekter det får att implementera lastkännande(Ls) hydraulik på såmaskinen Spirit 600. För att kunna avgöra om Ls-hydraulik är lämpligt till såmaskinen har en prototyp byggts och testats med två traktorer. Testerna baseras även på mätdata för att kunna utvärdera hur hydrauliken beter sig. Av gjorda tester har det fastställts att Ls-hydraulik är en bra metod för att förbättra och förenkla hydraulsystemet. Då hydraulblocket till prototypen ej är lämplig för serieproduktion ur kostnads synpunkt har även två alternativa hydraulsystem tagits fram. Förslagen är baserade på användning av patronventiler. Fördelar med att bygga systemet med patronventiler är att dessa är billigare än slidventiler som används till prototypen och man kan göra unika block. Efter jämförelse med det befintliga hydraulsystemet kan man påvisa att användande av Ls-hydraulik kan bli billigare i konceptnivå.

When it was first settled in 1877, Nicodemus, Kansas was not the only all-African American community west of the Mississippi, but it is the only one remaining today. While many rural communities founded in Kansas and the western United States in the aftermath of the Civil War perished for various reasons, Nicodemus continues to exist. This thesis examines why Nicodemus has been able to overcome adversity when other towns could not. I propose that there is an intangible characteristic found among the people of Nicodemus which stems from the determination of the ex-slaves who first settled the town that has led those who have followed to persevere in Western Kansas. In conducting the research on this project, I used the primary documents of Nicodemus residents that can be found in the Graham County Historical Society located in Hill City, Kansas, and I traveled to Topeka, Kansas to peruse the Kansas State Historical Society’s archives of nineteenth and early-twentieth century newspapers to ascertain a more public accounting of events in that community. Other sources, both primary and secondary, were easily located within Ablah Library on the campus of Wichita State University.

My thesis work consists of oil paintings, hybridized through the use of mixed media, each one individually representing a Sacred Conversation involving family members and individuals that have passed from life to death, as well as the celebration of life in the present. I see my painting as spiritual work in which I interpret and map out the past, present and future of my life. My work is autobiographical. This is reflected through the attention to the pictorial embodiment of my own ancestor worship and the state of my own family history within the United States, my visions and communications with the past, deceased spirits, as well as the visualization of the future make-up my life. The relationship I have with the photograph is a dialogue that takes place within the gaze. My pictorial or mirror gazing concentrates on the spirit attached to the image inside the photograph, vision or in this case, spirit window. This act of gazing allows the spirit to speak and articulate what is necessary for the vision to evolve in what I am creating. The communication starts before I actually stretch the canvas. The spiritual intuition comes as a complete vision and then in the process of creation evolves through the spirits and my own formal decisions and intuition. The dialogue takes place within the studio; the medium is oil paint. The communication comes through the action of painting and listening to the faint voices of the spirits that guide me.

In the various branches of Vodun, one branch is Santeria, an African diaspora religion brought to the New World by African slaves, the ritual of ancestor worship occurs in the form of adoration, and in listening and watching for signs and miracles brought about by the ancestors who push us from behind, while the Orishas pull from the front, in order to guide us in our lives. My religious views stem from indigenous American and African spiritual beliefs. During slavery these beliefs and spiritual practices were concealed by a European cover or mask, to ensure their survival and continuation. My work appears on an array of different sized canvases and is both two dimensional to three dimensional. When I add three-dimensional elements, I use mixed media materials that may reference the composition. For instance, I may transform staples in the Santeria practice, such as tobacco, egg shells, seed beads or feathers by incorporating them into the painting, or may affix gold leaf in the tradition of Renaissance paintings, and these symbolic objects create a dialogue with spiritual dogma. I am a Hybrid of cultures and races and my work embodies that Hybridization.

What can be learned about design through the process of building? The intent of this thesis is to learn about building; to gain a true understanding of the way design decisions are realized through built components. If by knowing what is to come in a project's future, does the designer change their way of working? A disconnect exists between imagined and realized design. As an idea moves closer to reality, much of its' initial spirit can be lost in translation. This thesis was conceived as a design-build project, in an attempt to answer these questions. The intent was to consider a small-scale, built addition to an existing structure with a program simply focused on providing a place to vew from. By limiting the scope of building to a simple structure, it inherently forces a complete understanding of the nature of its connection. Through this consideration, one also must consider the limitations of assembling the work; that is, what are one or two people capable of making? The limits of solidarity result in a design that requires modularity; something that is able to be broken down into small, manageable pieceswhich are assembled to produce a whole. Therein lies both the challenge and the value of this thesis, as well as the lessons learned in building architecture.

What can be learned about design through the process of building? The aim of this Thesis was to take fundamental theoretical knowledge about building, acquired through my architectural education, and apply it through building a small structure. A freestanding concrete staircase, located at a research facility on Virginia Tech's campus, was chosen for the structure's site. The intent was to add an additional set of stairs to it, allowing visitors to reach a higher viewing point to look out over the hills of Blacksburg. The project was conceived as something small enough to be built quickly and with few people. By using primarily wood and simple hardware store materials, the project would be easy to work on and relatively inexpensive.

I denna uppsats har två filmer ur kampanjserien The Spirit of Travel från lyxmodevarumärket Louis Vuitton analyserats med syftet att undersöka om det är någon skillnad i att marknadsföra sig med eller utan celebrity endorsement. De frågeställningar jag ämnat besvara är vilka kärnvärden och attribut som kommer tilltals, hur förkroppsligandet skiljer sig åt i de två filmerna samt vilken betydelse en celebritet kan ha för ett varumärke. Filmerna fungerar som reklamkampanj för varumärkets produkter samtidigt som de agerar resekatalog. De båda filmerna utspelas på tropiska destinationer, den ena med ett antal till synes anonyma fotomodeller och den andra med två välkända celebriteter. Studien har utförts med den kvalitativa analysmodellen semiotisk bildanalys vilket jag kombinerat med en retorisk analys då filmerna innehåller både bild, text och berättarröst. Jag har använt mig av en befintlig modell för att undersöka hur mening överförs från varumärke genom celebritet till konsument. Denna modell har jag applicerat på mitt empiriska material för att se vilken typ av identifikationsform vi som mottagare känner gentemot Louis Vuitton och vad det faktiskt är vi mottagare identifierar oss med. Varumärkets vision är att konsumenterna ska se resan som själva upplevelsen och inte destinationen. Varumärkets kärnvärden resa, historia och hantverk framställs tydligt i de båda filmerna. Analysen har visat att celebriteterna förmedlar självsäkerhet, styrka, oräddhet och nyfikenhet. Celebriteterna förhöjer produkterna och får dem att kännas ännu mer exklusiva. Fotomodellerna å andra sidan framstår mer som rekvisita vilket förstärks av de poser de arrangerats i för att framhäva varumärkets produkter. Av analysen utläser jag att de identitetsdrag vi som mottagare borde vilja identifiera oss med förutom kropparna och celebriteternas skönhet, är styrka. Analysen har visat att användningen av celebriteter i marknadsföring således är ett sätt för både celebritet och varumärke att marknadsföra sig genom. En fotomodell är inte kapabel att skapa samma individualisering och karaktärisering i samma utsträckning som en celebritet vilket visat sig tydligt i denna studie.

The Internet has become an important medium for disseminating information about archaeology to the public. Research by archaeologists on how they can use the Internet is in its infancy. This thesis examines an Indigenous group's perspectives on the delivery of archaeological content through websites. The Spirit Camp archaeological site is located in Stó:lo Territory in the Fraser Valley, British Columbia. The Spirit Camp website project was created to explore the Stó:lo people's preference regarding graphic design and interactivity in two otherwise identical websites. Understanding Indigenous perspectives is essential for collaborative projects and is beneficial to both archaeology and Indigenous communities if done with respect and trust, as this can lead to a better understanding of history. This thesis discusses and analyzes feedback obtained from the Stó:lo about the two Spirit Camp websites and the dissemination of knowledge about their ancestors via the Internet. The more graphical website guides the viewer with a storybook-like interface while the other website allows readers to view material in plain text with a standard menu and scrollbar. Feedback from 24 participants was collected through an individual survey questionnaire, and three age-based focus groups: youths, adults, and Elders. This research shows that enhanced graphic design and increased levels of interactivity in websites do influence website preference. Elders telling stories, colour, photos, games, music and moving objects are examples cited by Stó:lo members as additions to future websites which enhance their experience. All the male participants preferred the more graphic website, while women's preferences were 53% in favour of the more graphical website. Data from the focus groups demonstrates that viewers' opinions vary by gender and age. This research informs us how to effectively work with and respect Indigenous peoples. It does so by suggesting the use of culturally sensitive methods, such as interviews and focus groups, to acquire Indigenous perspectives on the presentation and dissemination of archaeological information.

The underlying context of this work is the mismatch between the systems that we need to comply with and what our spirit and intuition wants and needs. The thesis questions the relevance of spiritless corporate systems set up to serve the ‘best interest’ of human beings and other living things. Corporate systems have been established to comply with governing laws, to facilitate transaction of money and provide financial accountability to stakeholders and clients – spiritless matters. Corporate systems are ill equipped to protect our emotional and spiritual boundaries, our tangible and intangible links to the past and to the future. Spirit, which is the essence of life, is often not understood, discussed or included in the planning, development and implementation of the very systems that govern and impact on our lives and our communities. If spirit is included it is often well intended but rhetorical. Spirit needs to be revived and provided time, place and purpose, not only in our broader lives but also in our work cultures. Without spirit, facts have no meaning or relevance to life. This thesis searches for solutions to fill this spiritual gap in corporate systems, drawing on the experiences and lessons gained through engaging with communities and corporate systems in Australian and international contexts. The search covers a study of oral tradition(spirit),the impact of the lack of credibility afforded to oral tradition, developing and trialling common-ground terminology and frameworks befitting both corporate and spiritual systems across different industry sectors, the isolation of arts and culture from other sectors, the role of community development arts practices, and aspects of social science and urban development theories. The research traces the development and implementation of a cultural planning program for Western Australia through policy development at State government level and then framework development undertaken through Community Arts Network WA. The development of this cultural planning program draws on the contribution of diverse industry sector partners and this thesis research explains how their perspectives can contribute to the revival of spirit in corporate systems. The partnerships involved are business planning, town planning, community psychology, vocation, education and training, and sustainability. Having contributed to the development of the broader frameworks for the implementation of cultural planning across the State and beyond, this research delves further into addressing the issue of reviving spirit in corporate systems through refining the First (spirit) and Third Person (corporate) approach to cultural planning. This method is based on a key Spirit Catalyst called The First and Third Person Systems. This key Spirit Catalyst provides a guide for balance between spirit and corporate systems. There are a total of seven secondary Spirit Catalysts cited. Comparisons and contrasts between First and Third Person cultural planning process and strategic planning are provided. Principles and protocols and tools for evaluating spirit have been developed as part of the process. In keeping with the first person nature of spirit, personal narrative is used wherever possible to give life and meaning to facts and other planning and management processes.

The Cannibal Spirit is a fictionalization of events surrounding the trial on charges of cannibalism of a half-white, half-Indian man named George Hunt, in Vancouver in 1900. It is told from two points of view: from that of Hunt himself (in the first person), and from that of his son-in-law, Harry Cadwallader (in the third person). The book began life nearly fifteen years ago as an academic paper, and has been through many manifestations - essay, biography, movie, theatre play - before finally becoming the novel here submitted. The accompanying thesis considers that evolution in terms of how the ideas, themes, premises, structure, the consciousnesses of my characters, and their voices came to become what they are now. The thesis considers how some sort of a critical/creative synergy might best be achieved during the practice of the creative writing PhD itself. It concludes in a discussion of the nature of authenticity itself for the author of fiction, when that writer deliberately - wilfully - mutilates facts for the purposes of his own fictional ends.

Two fundamental experiences of Yahweh in the Old Testament are an encounter with the 'word' of Yahweh and an encounter with the 'spirit' or 'wind' or 'breath' (rüah) of Yahweh. This thesis explores 'word', ruah, and their relationship in the book of Ezekiel. It argues that the relationship between Yahweh's rüah and Yahweh's word is to be understood not so much in terms of the inspiration and authentication of the prophet but in terms of the transformation of the book's addressees. According to the dominant paradigm for explaining the emphasis on ruah and its relation to Yahweh's word within the book of Ezekiel, the prophet Ezekiel is recovering from the pre-classical prophets, or even pioneering, an emphasis on ruah in prophecy that is conspicuously absent from the classical, writing prophets. This reading interprets the emphasis on ruah in Ezekiel in terms of the self-authentication of the ministry of the prophet. This thesis examines the relationship between ruah and prophecy in Ezekiel and in the rest of the Old Testament, and shows that the dominant paradigm requires modification. The emphasis on Yahweh's ruah in Ezekiel, even the 'prophetic spirit', is best understood in relation to the book's concern for the transformation of its addressees. The prophet Ezekiel's experience of Yahweh's ruah and his own obedience to Yahweh's call are clearly contrasted with the disobedience of the prophet's addressees in order to present Ezekiel as a model for the addressees of the book. His experience illuminates for them how the dramatic vision of the future can become a reality in their experience. This provides a different perspective on the conundrum of the presence in the book of calls to repentance alongside declarations of Yahweh's unilateral salvific actions. Further, it provides an integrated account of the different occurrences of ruah in relation to the rhetorical function of the book. Yahweh's ruah has a fundamental role in the envisaged obedient response to Yahweh's word, both of Ezekiel and of the book's addressees.

This dissertation is an examination of the pneumatology of Origen of Alexandria. By providing insight into his understanding of the Holy Spirit, it also seeks to reframe the way in which Origen’s Trinitarian theology is understood. In this study, I argue that Origen conceives of the Holy Spirit as a divine person, but inferior in nature. Origen’s pneumatology must be considered in light of his understanding of the Son and Father, as well as the influence of Middle Platonism on his theological and cosmological framework. Origen’s concept of Trinity is a hierarchy of divine persons in which the greater ministers to the existence of the lower. Though Origen recognizes the personhood of the Holy Spirit, he believes that the Spirit is less than the other divine persons, both in person and in work. The Spirit’s origin and attributes, for which Origen has no real scriptural or traditional precedent, he struggles to articulate and often leaves unresolved. I suggest that Origen’s pneumatology can be best understood by examining where he is most clear and consistent: the work of the Holy Spirit. Origen consistently portrays the Spirit as participating in the divine work of salvation; his Trintarianism is strongly economic, emphasizing shared work and will. The Spirit’s specific role in the economy is to indwell and assist the saints, in line with his lesser status. There are two ways in which the Holy Spirit’s activity can be framed: (1) in the Trinitarian and downward action of God, in which the Spirit is the direct distributor of the divine gifts and graces and (2) the Spirit’s upward work of revelation and sanctification, by which he leads the saints to the Son and Father. The Spirit thus serves as the practical and personal initiator of believers into the greater processes of salvation and deification.

This paper will discuss the functions performed by the Spatial Infrared Imaging Telescope (SPIRIT) III Data Processing Center (DPC) at Utah State University (USU). The SPIRIT III sensor is the primary instrument on the Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX) satellite; and as builder of this sensor system, USU is responsible for developing and operating the associated DPC. The SPIRIT III sensor consists of a six-color long-wave infrared (LWIR) radiometer system, an LWIR spectrographic interferometer, contamination sensors, and housekeeping monitoring systems. The MSX spacecraft recorders can capture up to 8+ gigabytes of data a day from this sensor. The DPC is subsequently required to provide a 24-hour turnaround to verify and qualify these data by implementing a complex set of sensor and data verification and quality checks. This paper addresses the computing architecture, distributed processing software, and automated data verification processes implemented to meet these requirements.

The underlying context of this work is the mismatch between the systems that we need to comply with and what our spirit and intuition wants and needs. The thesis questions the relevance of spiritless corporate systems set up to serve the 'best interest' of human beings and other living things. Corporate systems have been established to comply with governing laws, to facilitate transaction of money and provide financial accountability to stakeholders and clients - spiritless matters. Corporate systems are ill equipped to protect our emotional and spiritual boundaries, our tangible and intangible links to the past and to the future. Spirit, which is the essence of life, is often not understood, discussed or included in the planning, development and implementation of the very systems that govern and impact on our lives and our communities. If spirit is included it is often well intended but rhetorical. Spirit needs to be revived and provided time, place and purpose, not only in our broader lives but also in our work cultures. Without spirit, facts have no meaning or relevance to life. This thesis searches for solutions to fill this spiritual gap in corporate systems, drawing on the experiences and lessons gained through engaging with communities and corporate systems in Australian and international contexts. The search covers a study of oral tradition(spirit),the impact of the lack of credibility afforded to oral tradition, developing and trialling common-ground terminology and frameworks befitting both corporate and spiritual systems across different industry sectors, the isolation of arts and culture from other sectors, the role of community development arts practices, and aspects of social science and urban development theories. The research traces the development and implementation of a cultural planning program for Western Australia through policy development at State government level and then framework development undertaken through Community Arts Network WA. The development of this cultural planning program draws on the contribution of diverse industry sector partners and this thesis research explains how their perspectives can contribute to the revival of spirit in corporate systems. The partnerships involved are business planning, town planning, community psychology, vocation, education and training, and sustainability. The object of the dissertation is absolute knowing, the concluding shape of the Phenomenology of Spirit. The study deals with the problems issues to its conceptual structure, constitutive elements and the relationship with the work as a whole. The aim is to clarify the nature of absolute knowing’s absoluteness through a path organized in four chapters. The first chapter examines the role played by moral consciousness, as the first reconciliation achieved by spirit, in the attainment of absolute knowing. Through the analysis of Hegel’s discussion of moral consciousness the chapter shows that the contribution of this section is the form of the concept, which however still lacks the side of its concrete realization. The second chapter discusses the second form of reconciliation achieved by spirit, namely revealed religion, and shows how it provides precisely the side of the content that moral consciousness lacked. The object of the third hapter is the nature of absolute knowing as the unification of the two previously attained reconciliations. The relationship between Form and Gestalt (shape), the concepts that structure the concluding chapter of the Phenomenology, allows to account for some essential questions relating to the status of absolute knowing, its subject and its unfolding. The fourth chapter deals with the relationship of such knowing with temporality and history, and shows how different and apparently conflicting determination of that relationship actually constitute a rich and consistent conception of temporality. History is thereby understood as constituting both the dimension of spirit’s experience, and therefore the object of absolute knowing, and the dimension in which such knowing must necessarily unfold.
Tema della dissertazione è il sapere assoluto, figura conclusiva della Fenomenologia dello spirito. Essa affronta i problemi relativi alla sua struttura concettuale, ai suoi elementi costitutivi, alla relazione con l’opera nel suo complesso. L’intento del lavoro è quello di chiarire il carattere di assolutezza del sapere assoluto attraverso un percorso scandito in quattro capitoli. Il primo capitolo esamina il ruolo che la coscienza morale, in quanto prima riconciliazione raggiunta dallo spirito, svolge nel percorso che conduce al sapere assoluto. Attraverso l’analisi della ripresa hegeliana della coscienza morale nel capitolo sul sapere assoluto si mostra come il contributo di questa sezione sia da individuarsi nella forma del concetto, alla quale tuttavia manca ancora il lato della realizzazione concreta. Nel secondo capitolo si prende in analisi la seconda forma di riconciliazione raggiunta dallo spirito, ossia la religione rivelata, mostrando come essa fornisca proprio il lato del contenuto di cui la coscienza morale ancora mancava. Nel terzo capitolo si passa poi all’esame della natura vera e propria del sapere assoluto come unificazione delle due riconciliazioni precedentemente raggiunte. Il rapporto tra Form e Gestalt (figura), i concetti che strutturano il capitolo conclusivo della Fenomenologia, permette di rendere conto di alcune questioni fondamentali relative allo status del sapere assoluto, al suo soggetto e al suo dispiegamento. Nel quarto capitolo è infine analizzata la relazione di tale sapere con la temporalità e la storia, mostrando come diverse e apparentemente contraddittorie determinazioni di tale relazione costituiscano invece le determinazioni di una ricca e complessa concezione della temporalità, e come la storia costituisca tanto la dimensione dell’esperienza dello spirito, e dunque l’oggetto del sapere assoluto, quanto la dimensione nella quale tale sapere deve necessariamente dispiegarsi.

Cracks in the Spirit of Community is a study of a Swedishtrade union in a period of change. Increasingly, traditionaltrade unions´ work based on collective solutions has comeinto question, and the customer perspective of trade unionactivities is becoming more prominent. At the same time, ageneration of mainstay trade union supporters at ourcountry´s workplaces are approaching retirement age. Howdo these - now ageing - children of Sweden´s"people´s home" hand over our society´s institutionsand pass on its traditions to a new generation? Is there a riskthat knowledge will be lost? And is anyone in the newgeneration ready to receive this knowledge?

A systematic and structured dialogue with participants fromSif, Sweden´s leading white collar union, helped developthis complex of problems. The work focused on the interactionbetween people to build up a community of understanding, whichwas at the core of earlier trade union tradition. Broadeningthe present pattern of action allows more long-term trends tobe traced. A disregard for matters of common concern, andunstated dissension, cause cracks in the spirit of community,cracks that undermine the power of collective action inpolitical matters. This dissertation poses complex questionsabout democracy, participation and common responsibility.

The case study was carried out as a series of dialogueseminars with a carefully-selected group of people from Sif.The dialogue seminar method was developed to bring to the foretacit knowledge in skills research. By focussing onvalue-based, shared human knowledge, the dissertation puts tothe test a new application of the dialogue seminar method. Thisstudy illustrates a shift from common interests to individualinterests. It points out general trends in the development ofour society - a trade union member, an employee and a citizenis often one and the same person.

The theologians of the early church sought to interpret the Christian gospel in the categories of `Mediterranean antiquity. ' The classical two-nature model of Christology has a Greek philosophical underpinning that shapes the ontological construction of the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ. Logos Christology is primarily a reflection on the hypostatic union of the Logos with the human reality of Jesus that leaves little place for a consideration of Jesus' relation to the Holy Spirit. In the light of such a limitation in classical Christology, a study of the relationship between Christology and pneumatology becomes very significant. In this regard, the recent resurgence of Spirit Christology in the West adds a new dimension to contemporary Christological reflection. The theologians who are engaged in this pursuit are of the view that Christological reflection is incomplete without reflecting upon pneumatology and vice versa. This study identifies in particular at least three approaches in the contemporary European Spirit Christologies, namely, reconstruction, replacement and complementary approaches. Norman Hook attempts to reconstruct Christ, Spirit and the Trinity from the perspective of the Hebrew understanding of the Spirit. G. W. H. Lampe, by using the symbol God as Spirit replaces Logos Christology with a Spirit Christology. Jürgen Moltmann, John D. Zizioulas and David Coffey seek ways to complement Logos Christology with Spirit Christology. While not denying the contributions of reconstruction and replacement approaches, this study adopts the complementary approach and shows that Spirit Christology not only enriches systematic theology but also is relevant to an Indian context. This is done by bringing the insights of two Indian theologians Pandipeddi Chenchiah and Swami Abhishiktänanda, who emphasise the centrality of the Spirit, in interaction with the strengths of Spirit Christology. The study ends in offering a chapter on `understanding Jesus Christ in India' using the Hindu concepts of Spirit that are expressed in the terms such as atman, antaryämin, Sakti and änanda. Drawing on some of the resources of Spirit Christology, it is argued that these concepts can explicate, illuminate and evoke some latent aspects of Christology.
