Quality checks, assessments, and the assurance of food products, raw materials, and food ingredients is critically important to ensure the safeguard of foods of high quality for safety and public health. Nevertheless, quality checks, assessments, and the assurance of food products along distribution and supply chains is impacted by various challenges. For instance, the development of portable, sensitive, low-cost, and robust instrumentation that is capable of real-time, accurate, and sensitive analysis, quality checks, assessments, and the assurance of food products in the field and/or in the production line in a food manufacturing industry is a major technological and analytical challenge. Other significant challenges include analytical method development, method validation strategies, and the non-availability of reference materials and/or standards for emerging food contaminants. The simplicity, portability, non-invasive, non-destructive properties, and low-cost of NIR spectrometers, make them appealing and desirable instruments of choice for rapid quality checks, assessments and assurances of food products, raw materials, and ingredients. This review article surveys literature and examines current challenges and breakthroughs in quality checks and the assessment of a variety of food products, raw materials, and ingredients. Specifically, recent technological innovations and notable advances in quartz crystal microbalances (QCM), electroanalytical techniques, and near infrared (NIR) spectroscopic instrument development in the quality assessment of selected food products, and the analysis of food raw materials and ingredients for foodborne pathogen detection between January 2019 and July 2020 are highlighted. In addition, chemometric approaches and multivariate analyses of spectral data for NIR instrumental calibration and sample analyses for quality assessments and assurances of selected food products and electrochemical methods for foodborne pathogen detection are discussed. Moreover, this review provides insight into the future trajectory of innovative technological developments in QCM, electroanalytical techniques, NIR spectroscopy, and multivariate analyses relating to general applications for the quality assessment of food products.

It was established that the parameters of the grinding mode of Al2O3--TiC-ceramics significantly affect their tribological characteristics, the intensification of the regime leads to an increase in the tangential force and friction coefficient, the width of the friction track and the width of the wear area. Using the identified interrelations, technological recommendations for rationing the quality of ceramic parts at the design stage, which increase the operational reliability of ceramic products, have been developed.

The scientific approaches to technological assurance of machinery unit life on the basis of the analysis of dimension ties arising at the basic stages of a product life cycle are stated. At the heart of investigations is laid the realization of a continuous analysis of dimensioning ties at the basic stages of a life cycle (designing, manufacturing, assembly and service of a product) combined into a general automated subsystem of engineering computations (MES- system) for assurance of machine life stated in design requirements.

Introduction. Today fiberglass is one of the most common composite materials. Therefore, its mechanical processing continues to be the subject of many studies. In many scientific publications, the influence of cutting modes and structural and geometric parameters of the tool on the roughness of the machined surface, cutting forces and wear of the cutting tool has been established. The purpose of this work is to study the effect of machining modes on delamination and roughness of fiberglass composites during end milling, as well as testing the hypothesis about the effect of torque on the delamination. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that delamination, along with roughness, has a significant impact on the quality of processing and subsequent assembly of the finished product. A criterion is proposed for assessing the magnitude of the delamination of composite materials during its machining. The results of experimental studies of the torque on the cutter, the relative coefficient of delamination and surface roughness from cutting conditions are presented. Methods: factorial experiment using an experimental assembly developed by the authors based on a piezoelectric torque sensor. The installation allows real-time recording of the change in torque during the milling process, depending on the modes of operation. Results and Discussion. A comparative analysis of the obtained dependences showed that the torque is directly related to delamination. To reduce the delamination, the depth of cut should be decreased, and in order to ensure the specified productivity, the feed and the rotational speed of the cutter should be increased. The presented results confirm the prospects of the developed approach aimed at machining new classes of composite materials.

Problems of the boroscopy as a diagnostics method providing fast information acquiring of inner parts of technological equipment turbomachinery RB211 DLE assembled in combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) in selected company [. Observations were focused on high pressure axial compressor, being the main part of monitored technological system. From quality point of view the paper provides new perspective of internal inspection of technological equipment covering possible damages locating and qualifying of qualitative characteristics of equipment inner parts. The problems solved were based on particular practice demands and it reflects state-of-art in concerned scientific field [.

The introduction of elements of the concept of digital production is especially important in enterprises manufacturing electronic products that are in demand in all spheres of human activity. To create new objects representing the digital production concept, it is necessary to introduce technological innovations in the production of electronics. This is achieved by solving actual analyzing problems system properties means of production and ensuring product quality. Therefore, the article purpose is to ensure the quality of electronic products based on models and methods for analyzing the means and processes of electronic production. To achieve the goal, the digital production development in a structural framework, functional and informational description are considered. The results of the simulation stages of the production life cycle allowed us to estimate the achieved product quality level while improving the subsystems of automatic installation of printed circuit boards.

<p>The paper considers the problem of the assurance of the quality of machine repair in production plants. The primary quality repair index has been described analytically with the help of the arithmetic matrix in which the relationship between the production capacity and the structural and organizational factors of the quality of repair is taken into account. Ratios of input variables and the output relationship with the primary factors of the quality of machine repair were determined using matrix equations that reflect the relationship between design, process and organizational factors, and the basic quality ratios. It has been concluded that the quality of machine repair depends on proper diagnosis, the wear and tear of individual connections of elements, and the technological processes leading to the restoration of the damaged parts and reassembling the machine.</p>

The use of quality management instruments refers to the production of windows based on PVC profiles. Based on the results of surveys, which were additionally verified by an extended expert interview, an analysis was made of the level of use of quality assurance instruments at individual stages of the technological process. The main conclusion of the analyzes is that the most commonly used quality instruments are Pareto-Lorenz analysis, Ishikawa diagram, control cards and the FMEA method.

Radiation therapy treatment planning and treatment delivery are in the process of changing dramatically over the next several years. This change has been driven in large part by continued advances in computer hardware and software and in medical imaging. Three-dimensional radiation treatment planning systems are rapidly being implemented in clinics around the world. These developments in turn have prompted manufacturers to employ advanced microcircuitry and computer technology to produce treatment delivery systems capable of precise shaping of dose distributions via computer-controlled multileaf collimators which cause the beam intensity to be varied across the beam. Image-based 3D planning and beam intensity modulated delivery systems show significant potential for improving the quality of radiotherapy and improving the efficiency with which radiation therapy can be planned and delivered. However, significant research and development work on these systems and their clinical use remains to be performed. The techniques used for the treatment planning and the methods used for quality assurance procedures and testing must all be revised and/or redesigned to allow efficient clinical use of these technological advances. Although much of the current 3D radiation therapy process requires interactive tasks (and some still very laborious) the path is clear toward solving the technological obstacles so that a nearly automated planning, delivery, and verification system will become a reality over the next decade. Such systems will allow radiation oncologists to significantly increase dose to many tumor sites while concomitantly lowering doses to critical organs-at-risk. Most of the tasks will be automated, thus lowering the overall costs currently needed to provide high-quality external beam radiation therapy.

The article deals with the problem of modern approaches to teacher training in the context of its quality assurance. The concept of ‘innovation’ is defined and the system of classification is introduced on the grounds of the analysis of scientific and pedagogical resources. In the paper it is shown that at quality control of engineering products particular attention should be paid to engineering and technological measures which exert basic influence upon assurance and quality increase. Technical and technological measures are shown at all stages of product life: marketing; design; technological pre-production; manufacturing materials, blanks, parts and their assembly; operation; repair and utilization. It is emphasized that still at the preliminary stages it is necessary that a factor of competitive ability of a product designed should be defined. It is shown convincingly that engineering product quality is formed at the stage of design and ensured at the stage of manufacturing. The realization of measures shown in the paper allows ensuring high-quality competitive engineering product manufacturing at enterprises.

Дана характеристика вариативности свойств зерносмесей в условиях реального производства зерновых. Подтверждена экспериментально чувствительность взаимосвязей показателей качества процесса с составами зерносмесей, режимами работы и настроечными параметрами триеров. Обоснована необходимость авторегулируемого управления процессами триерной очистки зерна. Дана оценка значимости показателей качества использования триерных технологий в семенном режиме в сравнении с другими показателями с использованием функционально-стоимостного анализа, методов экспертных оценок и анализа структуры затрат на производство зерновых. Обоснован комплексный критерий качества триерной очистки зерна, включающий показатели остаточной засорённости (Зо) и технологических потерь (П). Установлена относительная весомость частных показателей качества, что позволяет вырабатывать компромиссные решения по управлению триерной технологией – весомость показателя Зо в 12,8 раза превышает весомость показателя П. Предложена конструктивно-технологическая схема авторегулируемого управления триером. Установлены взаимосвязи режимов загрузки триера (W) и скоростного режима работы (n) с периодом стабилизации процесса (tст), загрузкой ячеистой поверхности по длине (lк), технологическими потерями (П) и безотказностью работы. Подтверждено, что при W ≥ 2,45 т/ч скоростной режим n = 30 об/мин не обеспечивает технологическую надёжность триера, а с увеличением n до 32 об/мин триер работает надёжно, и технологические потери находятся на приемлемом уровне – 0,49–1,43%, что подтверждает чувствительность вышеуказанных взаимосвязей и необходимость автоматизации процесса. В диапазоне W = 2,45–4,35 т/ч при n = 32–35 об/мин и подъёме кромки выводного лотка на угол γn = 45° ячеистая поверхность по длине (lк) используется на 95,5–100%, что снижает риски роста остаточной засорённости зерна. С увеличением γn до 55° технологические отказы появляются и на более высоких скоростных режимах работы триера − n = 35 об/мин. Установлено, что период стабилизации процесса в диапазоне подач W = 1,2–4,3 т/ч при n= 35 об/мин возрастает в 3,6 раза. С ростом γnдо 55° время стабилизации процесса изменяется несущественно. Characteristic of variability of grain mixtures properties in conditions of real grain production is given. The sensitivity of process quality indices relationships with grain mixture compositions, operating modes and trieur tuning parameters was confirmed experimentally. The necessity of automatic control of grain trieur cleaning processes is justified. The significance assessment of the quality indicators of the trieur technologies use in the seed mode in comparison with other indicators is given using functional-cost analysis, methods of expert assessments and analysis of the structure of grain production costs. The complex criterion of trieur grain cleaning quality has been substantiated including indicators of residual content of impurities (Cr) and technological losses (L). The relative weight of private quality indicators has been established, which makes it possible to develop compromise solutions for the control of trieur technology – the weight of the Crindicator is 12.8 times higher than the weight of the L. The design and technological scheme of automatic control of the trieur has been proposed. Interrelationships of loading modes of trieur (W) and speed mode of operation (n) with period of process stabilization (tst), loading of cellular surface along length (lc), technological losses (L) and operational safety are established. It was confirmed that at W ≥ 2.45 t/h, the speed mode n = 30 rounds per minute does not provide technological reliability of the trieur, and with an increase in n to 32 rpm the trieur operates reliably and technological losses are at an acceptable level – 0.49–1.43%, which confirms the sensitivity of the above relationships and the need for process automation. In the range W = 2.45–4.35 t/h at n = 32–35 rpm and lifting the edge of the output tray by an angle γn = 45 ° the cellular surface along the length (lc) is used by 95.5–100%, which reduces the growth risks of residual grain content of impurities. With an increase of γn to 55 ° technological failures also appear at higher speed modes of the trieur − n = 35 rpm. It was found that the process stabilization period in the feed range W = 1.2–4.3 t/h at n = 35 rpm increases by 3.6 times. With the growth of γnto 55 ° the time of stabilization of the process varies insignificantly.

The article is devoted to finding ways to assess the quality of educational activities at the university through analogies between tangible (technical) and intangible systems. The approach to determining the level of technological readiness for implementation (TRL) was used as a tool to assess the level of development of the quality of education system. The abstract-logical method and the method of induction-deduction were used in the analysis of the causal relationship between the quality of education and the assessment of the technological level of development readiness. Bibliometric analysis was performed using SciVal and VOSviewer tools based on data from the scientific-metric databases Scopus and Web of Science. Based on bibliometric analysis, it was found that currently the TRL approach has not been used to describe the dynamic system of education quality, as it is not adapted to intangible systems. A link was also established between the search query technology readiness level and socio-economic indicators of technology implementation in industry. The description of each level of technological readiness of development on the example of the system quality of education with consistent progress in the development of quality assurance system and a brief description of each level of the studied intangible system. An example of determining the technological level of development readiness using the NYSERDA calculator is given. The results of the work can be useful for universities that build an effective internal system of quality assurance in education as an algorithm for consistent transition between levels of readiness and the relevant indicators of a particular technological level.

With the emergence of day-by-day increasing distance learning institutions worldwide, the question of quality assurance (QA) in distance education (DE) needs to be addressed at appropriate level. The objective of this paper was to examine various QA practices undertaken by several QA regulatory bodies and existing models in distance and online education being followed globally. The researcher undertook extensive review of related literature pertaining to QA practices worldwide to reach at a common ground that how a DE institution be dealt in relation to its QA needs. The paper highlighted that prevailing QA models in distance and online learning have been developed in response to specific demands of stakeholders to ensure transparency and improved attention towards learning outcomes, that means a single model is not likely to fulfil the needs of all stakeholders. The paper also emphasised that it will neither be appropriate nor admissible to prefer and recommend one system of QA to another since the selection mostly depends on the efficacy and relevance of model to the specific needs, aims and maturity of educational institutions. In addition, the paper provided a comparative review of research on the effectiveness of QA practices in DE. Some recent studies reviewed in this paper highlighted the similar nature of benchmarks or dimensions for an external QA system for distance and online programs with minor variations on account of institutional local needs. However, due to technological developments external QA instruments may need revision to deal current standards and best practices.

The proposed system of identification such elements of the operating environment and objects of failures allows you to objectively identify options, methods and means of technological quality assurance of semi-finished products. A large number of factors, that characterize the objects of failures, operating environment, types of molding and hardening of granules (briquettes), modes of formation determined the need to develop the structure and type of information model of the technological unit, the subsequent development and implementation of the logic of synthesis such model, the formation of sets equipment, tools and technological materials. The principal novelty of this proposed concept lies in the presentation of the information model of the technological unit logically defined set of their elements in the form of a virtual polyhedron consisting of virtually rotating around three coordinate axes congruent polyhedral, the faces of which are carriers of codes of operating conditions, sets characteristics, failure patterns, technological capabilities of control methods, structural components of technological units, in the creation of logic of automated target synthesis or selection of the structure of the process unit. The methodology of implementation and optimization of the technological unit with the identification of elements of the operating environment and objects of images, technological impact, the relationship of quality indicators of functional elements, operating environment and technological effects, shows the algorithm and program of the information model of the technological unit and the methodology of its synthesis

Underground structures like diaphragm and pile walls are constructed to organize waterproof curtains, protect pit sides, and transfer loads from the structures. Violations of the construction technological process can lead to the formation of defects. To prevent adverse consequences, before excavation, it is necessary to control the integrity of the slurry walls using non-destructive geophysical methods. A review of geophysical slurry wall quality control methods based on the excitation and registration of physical fields through access tubes installed in the reinforcement cage, in wells drilled near the structure or on the surface of the structure, is presented. The main capabilities and limitations of the methods are given. Cross-hole ultrasonic logging was used to study the section of the slurry wall during the construction of the Moscow Metro station. The results of parallel soundings made it possible to identify anomalous zones, interpreted as defects. The geometric dimensions of one of the major defects were refined by ultrasonic tomography. For the first time in Russian testing practice, thermal integrity profiling was applied to study the diaphragm wall at the base of a residential building. The results of temperature monitoring during the concrete hardening are presented. According to the method, a major flaw, excess of the design mark of the wall bottom and bulging of the structure were revealed. The results of thermal integrity profiling were verified by ultrasonic logging. The combined use of thermal and ultrasonic methods can be recommended as a reliable tool for integrity testing of diaphragm and pile walls. To carry out the measurements, the access tubes shall be included in the reinforcement cage of the structure at the design stage.

The article deals with the issues of reliability of quality control of building materials and products. The structural diagram of the reliability of control of building materials is presented as a combination of series-connected technological operations. The purpose of the work is to assess the regulatory security of quality control of the production of building materials and products. The block diagram of quality control of concrete blocks for basement walls is presented. On the example of concrete blocks for basement walls, an assessment of the normative provision of product quality indicators is given. It has been established that the quality assurance of concrete blocks for FBS basement walls if all production parameters and quality indicators meet the requirements of regulatory documents and the condition: the mathematical expectation is in the middle of the product tolerance field and ± 3σ in the tolerance field is 0.9576, and the probability the appearance of marriage - 4.238%. The influence of the spread of indicators on the quality assurance is considered. It is found that with an increase in the value of the standard deviation to a value that is within the tolerance range of ± 2.5σ, the quality assurance decreases and amounts to 0,8092, and the probability of the appearance of defects is 19.08 %. It is shown that the application of the Six Sigma methodology at the enterprise will contribute to improving the quality of products

This study aims to find out the key factors of innovative technology affecting the quality assurance at higher education institutions in Jordan. By adopting the diffusion of innovation theory, this study sheds light on several factors that extended from this theory. Fieldwork including five universities in Jordan was conducted to specify the actual technological factors that may influence quality assurance at higher education institutions. An interpretive paradigm using triangulation methods was applied to collect data, conducting sixteen semi-structured interviews with major stakeholders in Jordanian universities, including professors, university vice-chancellors, IT managers, heads of departments, and deans of schools. The researchers also held two focus groups and distributed 232 surveys to Jordanian students.

A quick review of the specification sheets for new technologically intensive diagnostic ultrasound systems reveals a substantial number of fairly impressive operational performance claims. In at least one manufacturer's published material, the system specifications boasts of a dynamic range of 180 dB. To put that number in perspective, a device capable of 180 dB of dynamic range of resolution would be able to detect the flutter of a butterfly's wing in the middle of a thermonuclear explosion. How does one verify such an astounding performance claim using currently available ultrasound testing devices such as a tissue-mimicking phantom and what is the explicit clinical significance of such dynamic range? Additionally, while most of us were focused with amazement in leapfrog advances in system technology, diagnostic ultrasound transducers were also undergoing radical changes in array material composition and design. Most modern composite transducer specifications claim fractional bandwidths of 85%, and more and element counts as high as 2500. While the great technological strides made in ultrasound system design have been impressive, all of the computational and processing power of the 'all-digital' ultrasound device is singularly dependent on the output and input characteristics of the ultrasound transducer. Published data shows that the ultrasound transducer is subject to degradation in performance, as well as element failure, potentially leading to patient misdiagnosis or under-diagnosis. The need to regularly test transducers for performance variances will be explored within this paper. Additionally, the key areas of transducer performance as they relate to image and Doppler quality will be defined.

Structural analysis of casting technology is presented in the article, individual technological changes are considered both in terms of impact on the efficiency of casting, and in terms of high quality assurance at minimal cost. Taking into account the need for a single-unit and small-scale casting in the fl xibility of the processes, schemes of organization of technological preparation of production and technological equipment are proposed. Examples of the equipment used are given.

Quality Assurance (QA) in higher education is the process by which university academic programmes are assessed and evaluated against specific criteria. Quality assurance mechanism adopted by the University of Guyana (UG) will ultimately affect the University of Guyana Library (UGL) which is an integral part of the academic culture. Academic libraries are pressured to align quality initiatives and practices with the parent institution’s missions and goals. This research has developed a proposed QA Framework for the UGL with an emphasis on human resources and technology. Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) Framework and the Institutional Theory was used to provide the theoretical foundation for the framework. The CHAT was used to design a framework that comprised six categories/nodes:- i) Tools/Instruments - Resources/Technology Availability; ii) Subject - Professional Staff Capability; iii) Rules/Control - Professional Library Standards; iv) Context - Loose/tight coupling with the University; v) Communication/Interaction - professionals, students, technology and; vi) Object/Quality of Knowledge produced/disseminated. The three major components of the Institutional Theory of isomorphic processes: coercive, mimetic, and normative were used to explain the six components/categories that form the six nodes of the framework. Using the interviewing schedules, information was acquired from former and current UGL library professionals, UG faculty and students on some aspects of the human and technological components of the UGL. The qualitative data was transformed into statistical data to derive the mean scores from the 15 respondents and to determine whether there were correlations between five nodes and the sixth node. Pearson’s correlation was used to determine if a significant relationship exists between the groups. The results showed that the independent variables loose/tight coupling has a positive relationship with the dependent variable (generation and dissemination of knowledge). This implies that the ability of the UG Library professionals to generate and disseminate knowledge has a direct relation to loose/tight coupling. Arising out of the quantitative analysis this QA Framework Proposal was developed as a guide to the UG Library.

Abstract High-Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor (HTGR) Power Reactors have a layered safety system with the concept of a double barrier system. However, quality assurance is required to ensure the fulfillment of technological analysis weightings on power chamber materials, power ratings, fabrication components of High- Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor (HTGR) fuel elements, primary and secondary coolant pressures to meet customer requirements and be carried out continuously systematic and objective. This study analyzes the application of quality assurance, safety, security, the correctness of test/calibration results, increasing competitiveness, consumer protection and building trust (brand image) in the use of HTGR reactors to provide a reliable level of safety and security. The study method used is based on the literature review. The output of this study is the document of the HTGR reactor quality assurance systems to fulfill the IAEA-TECDOC-1645 requirements according to safety and standardization in frameworks design, material, fuel, and physical properties of the quality management systems. HTGR reactor has technical qualification, good performance of HTGR fuel, safety and accident analysis source term analysis, control of multi-modular HTGR and related human factor analysis, also optimizing radiation protection of HTGR

Recent digital revolution is rapidly transforming the world of work and the skills profiles of many occupations. Major forces driving changes in the world of work include globalization, rapid advances in information and communications technology, changes in financial markets, new business strategies, new management practices and new forms of work. The uncertainty emerging from the fast changing environment, technological development has increased ethical and social responsibility. TVET was often a second choice of the students and was disregarded as a significant player in academic orientation in some years back. Now, that statement has been slowly discarded since awareness increased and through quality in education it is proved that TVET are the best providers of knowledgeable and skilled workers in the 21st century. Quality assurance in TVET is a concept that is concerned with high performance in entire academic process involving activities such as teaching, learning, infrastructure, students’ behavior and so on. The TEVT sector and its policy makers respond rapidly to the changing scenario. Good quality education is very necessary in the total development of the student, which ensures proper development, job prospects and the realization of academic goals and objectives. There are varied factors working against the realization of quality TVET. Practical partnerships between public and private actors will have an increasingly important role to play in the delivery of TVET programs so that the fresh TVET graduates have to be world class and the education quality has to maintain of global standards. This paper outlines and discusses the relevancy and quality assurance need in TEVT to meet the requirements in the coming future.

The analysis of structures self-organization at intensive complex technological impacts by means of the separation of order parameters at material cooling and product discharge with the mode stability definition in a thermo-dynamic system state is carried out. There are offered ways for the intensification of structure formation processes at material processing and structure stabilization realizing the combination of control parameters of pressure and thermal impacts.
