Анотація:
In order to automate development of integration adapters in industrialsettings, a model-driven approach to adapter specification is devised. In thisapproach, a domain-specific modeling language is created to allowspecification of mappings between integrated technical spaces. Alsoproposed is the mapping automation engine that comprises reuse andalignment algorithms. Based on mapping specifications, executable adaptersare automatically generated and executed. Results of approach evaluationsindicate that it is possible to use a model-driven approach to successfullyintegrate technical spaces and increase the automation by reusing domainspecificmappings from previously created adapters.
За потребе повећања степена аутоматизације развоја адаптера заинтеграцију у индустријском окружењу, осмишљен је моделом вођенприступ развоју адаптера. У оквиру овог приступа развијен је наменскијезик за спецификацију пресликавања између техничких простора који супредмет интеграције. Приступ обухвата и алгоритме за поравнање ипоновно искориштење претходно креираних пресликавања са циљемаутоматизације процеса спецификације. На основу креиранихпресликавања, могуће je аутоматски генерисати извршиви код адаптера.У испитивањима приступа, показано је да је могуће успешно применитимоделом вођен приступ у интеграцији техничких простора као и да јемогуће успешно повећати степен аутоматизације поновнимискоришћењем претходно креираних пресликавања.
Za potrebe povećanja stepena automatizacije razvoja adaptera zaintegraciju u industrijskom okruženju, osmišljen je modelom vođenpristup razvoju adaptera. U okviru ovog pristupa razvijen je namenskijezik za specifikaciju preslikavanja između tehničkih prostora koji supredmet integracije. Pristup obuhvata i algoritme za poravnanje iponovno iskorištenje prethodno kreiranih preslikavanja sa ciljemautomatizacije procesa specifikacije. Na osnovu kreiranihpreslikavanja, moguće je automatski generisati izvršivi kod adaptera.U ispitivanjima pristupa, pokazano je da je moguće uspešno primenitimodelom vođen pristup u integraciji tehničkih prostora kao i da jemoguće uspešno povećati stepen automatizacije ponovnimiskorišćenjem prethodno kreiranih preslikavanja.

This study was designed to examine the ability to use prior knowledge in text comprehension and knowledge integration. The focus of the research was on effects of different degrees of subjects' theoretical knowledge in the domain of biochemistry on their comprehension of written technical materials describing experimental procedures and results, and the ability to integrate such new text derived information with prior theoretical knowledge considered by experts to be relevant to the topic. Effects of cues on the accessibility and use of prior knowledge were also examined. Pre-test questions testing the extent of subjects' prior knowledge of photosynthesis, and a "cue article" specifically designed to prime subjects' relevant prior knowledge of photosynthesis, served as cues in the study.
A theoretical model of experts' knowledge was developed from a semantic analysis of expert-produced texts. This "expert model" was used to evaluate the extent of students' theoretical knowledge of photosynthesis, and its accessibility while applying it to the experimental tasks. College students and university graduate students served as subjects in the study, permitting a contrast of groups varying in prior knowledge of and expertise in chemistry.
Statistical analyses of data obtained from coding subjects' verbal protocols against text propositions and the expert model revealed that prior knowledge and comprehension contribute significantly to predicting knowledge integration, but they are not sufficient for this process to take place. It appears that qualitative aspects and specific characteristics of subjects' knowledge structure contribute to the process of integration, not simply the amount of accumulated knowledge. There was also evidence that there are specific inferential processes unique to knowledge integration that differentiate it from test comprehension. Cues manifested their effects on performance on comprehension tasks and integrative tasks only through their interactions with other factors. Furthermore, it was found that textual complexity placed specific constraints on students' performance: the application of textual information to the integrative tasks and students' ability to build conceptual frame representations based on text propositions depended on the complexity of the textual material. China leads the world in installed wind capacity, which forms an integral part of its long-term goals to reduce the environmental impacts of the electricity sector. This primarily centrally-managed wind policy has concentrated wind development in a handful of regions, challenging regulatory frameworks and grid architectures to cost-effectively integrate wind. In 2013, according to official statistics, wind accounted for 2.7% of national generation, while the rate of curtailment (available wind not accepted by the grid operator onto the system) reached 12%. Wind integration challenges have arisen in China for technical, economic and institutional reasons. From a technology standpoint, the variability and unpredictability of wind resources interact with technical limits of conventional generators, resulting in efficiency losses and grid stability concerns. Existing coal-based electricity and district heating installations play a large role in grid integration challenges because of the inflexible operation of coal plants relative to natural gas and hydropower, and the "must-run" nature of cogeneration units supplying residential heat. A competing set of hypotheses to explain current rates of wind spillage focus on institutional imperfections in China's power sector, such as poorly designed market incentives, inadequate oversight, and a mixture of conflicting policies that are the result of an incomplete transition to a market-driven electricity system. A unit commitment and dispatch optimization was developed to understand the underlying technical factors leading to wind curtailment in northeastern China. It incorporates electricity output restrictions from exogenous district heating demands, a hydro-thermal coordination component considering inter-seasonal storage, and transmission between adjacent provincial nodes. Averaging over six historic wind profiles, a curtailment rate of 6.6% was observed in the reference case from various forms of inflexibility and insufficient demand. The impacts of several technology-based solutions on total cost, coal use and wind curtailment, were also examined: more flexible operation of coal units, temporary heat storage and minimum cogeneration outputs that vary with heat load. Contributing to the existing body of qualitative work on the effects of these factors, this thesis developed a straightforward methodology to assess the relative contribution of regulatory and technical causes. Two important institutional arrangements - the decentralization of dispatch to individual provinces and minimum generation quotas allocated to all coal generators - were quantified in an optimization framework, and found to be significant contributors of power system operational inflexibility.

Novartis International A.G. is well known for their effective research and development of life-changing pharmaceuticals, and in 2006, Novartis bought Chiron Corporation, thereby diversifying their portfolio with a vaccines and diagnostics division. Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics (NV&D) is dedicated to producing vaccines and diagnostics tools at the highest quality and lowest cost. This thesis is from a six-month internship that explores the Novartis Vaccine's Holly Springs, North Carolina flu-cell culture facility to assist management in better understanding the Novartis' Innovation, Quality, and Productive (IQP) system on the organization. This particular site employs approximately 350 full-time individuals and 150 contractors. The Holly Springs' facility is designed to manufacture and fill 50 million doses of seasonal influenza vaccine, and 150 million doses in the event of a pandemic (with the help of a dose sparing adjuvant). All processes, from incoming raw materials to syringe fill and finish, must be conducted at this site in order to meet a United States mandate for emergency readiness in the event of a pandemic. The facility is well on its way to finalizing the manufacturing process, installing all the production equipment, and hiring staff, however, all start ups experience difficulties and this is no different from Novartis. The site, in particular is experiencing many difficulties in their raw material release process. . NV&D management recognized the need to implement their IQP project improvement system to address the disruptions that are impacting their scheduled readiness plan. [Figure 1 displayed] Figure 1: Causal Feedback Loop of Process Improvement on Process Performance] The approach for this project and thesis will be a mix of Novartis' IQP department, quality management, and technical operations methodologies in order to fully understand the current state of the raw material release process and identify gaps within the process. Combining the raw material release project with the theories of system dynamics, Novartis can better understand the impact of their Innovation, Quality, and Productive system at varying organizational levels. The Figure to the right demonstrates the impact of process improvement on overall process performance.

This thesis argues that the current EU approach toward regulating unilateral conduct by dominant firms is not firmly anchored to a unified economic theory; thus without a strong emphasis on the welfare of the consumers and the ability to determine whether a particular conduct by a dominant firm is in fact harmful or whether it offered efficiencies for consumers. Nor does it provide adequate flexibility to be applied to certain practices such as technical integration in the software industry, which differs considerably from traditional markets and has unique features that necessitate special consideration. This approach can negatively impact firms’ incentives and the capability to innovate, and it brings new problems for firms operating in such markets by not providing them with legal certainty to check whether their technical integration products infringe competition law. In addition, the current approach can lead to a condemnation of procompetitive practice in such markets, which are more prone to enforcement errors. There is a strong likelihood that such a perspective will remain entrenched as long as the traditional metrics in competition law, such as price and output, are taken as the essential methods for assessing the competition process in fast-moving innovation markets. Therefore, this thesis argues in favour of the adoption of a consistent framework for assessing an exclusionary tying claim and where the primary objective of the competition rules is consumer welfare, with access to modern microeconomic insights and economic tools.

The integration of wind energy into the utility network has increased significantly over the past years largely as a result of the increasing environmental concerns arising from the use of fossil fuels, coupled with the anticipated global increase in oil. In South Africa, the wind energy industry is still in its infancy, with the Klipheuwel (about 3.2 MW) and Darling (about 4.2 MW) wind farms being the only grid connected projects in the country. However, grid integration studies carried out in [1] have shown that there are over 7 000 MW potential ideas for wind power in the Western Cape alone and this is a clear indication that there is a growing interest in wind development locally. The Government has also set a 4% target for the development of the renewable energy in the country by 2013. In light of the above, this thesis discusses some of the technical requirements and power quality issues that need to be addressed in order to fully integrate wind power into the network without adversely affecting the operation of the grid. These have been researched through reviewing the various standards and grid codes for wind power that have been implemented in other leading countries, in order to identify some of the requirements that can be adapted to suit our local integration process. Some of the main technical issues that are discussed in this thesis include the strength of the grid (fault levels), permitted penetration levels, choice of wind turbine and the reactive power requirements of the network. All these issues contribute towards the resolution of the impact of wind turbines on the power quality of the network, especially at the point of common coupling or connection (PCC). Various power quality phenomena were discussed in the literature but the ones that were further investigated included the voltage level profile, harmonic distortions as well as reactive power requirements from the wind turbines. These were determined both during the steady operation of the network and during a network disturbance.

Mr Wayne Tobeck, Director of Southrim Group (SRG), sponsored this 2013 MEM Project titled; A Technical and Economic Feasibility Study for the Integration of GSHP Technology in the Christchurch Rebuild. Following the recent Christchurch earthquakes, a significant amount of land has become too unstable to support traditional building foundations. This creates an opportunity to implement new and unique foundation designs previously unconsidered due to high costs compared to traditional methods. One such design proposes that an Injection Micro-Piling technique could be used. This can also be coupled with HVAC technology to create a Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) arrangement in both new buildings and as retrofits for building requiring foundation repair. The purpose of this study was to complete a feasibility study on the merits of SRG pursuing this proposed product. A significant market for such a product was found to exist, while the product was also found to be technically and legally feasible. However, the proposed product was found to not be economically feasible with respect to Air Source Heat Pumps due to the significantly higher capital and installation costs required. Further analysis suggests GSHPs may become more economically attractive in operating temperatures lower than -9oC, though the existence of markets with this climate in NZ has not been studied. It is therefore suggested that SRG do not proceed with plans to develop a GSHP coupled foundation solution for the Christchurch rebuild.

The purpose of this study is to continue development of a benchmarking model to help companies assess their technical maturity when it comes to adopting Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps in their organization. The goal of the research is to assess how to improve the quality of qualitative models. Which conclusions can be drawn from comparing companies using benchmark and to assess which actions are the most effective to take to reach higher Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps maturity. The benchmark consisted of a questioner of two hundred statements that were answered for level of agreement with a current situation analysis and an ought-to-be analysis to be able to draw conclusions from the possible discrepancy between these categories. The questioner was answered during an interview study with chosen clients. Conclusions drawn from this study were that a lot can be done to improve the quality of qualitative models for examining Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps maturity. Different actions are necessary but the most important seems to be to ask open ended questions as well ass questions about different aspects of the same problem to promote discussion. It was also showed to be important to peer review the questions in the interview material beforehand to increase quality. The study also showed that it is possible to see trends in Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps maturity when comparing qualitative results for research subjects. The study showed that the most effective method for increasing Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps maturity is to use extensive automated testing suites that covers all testing disciplines.
Syftet med studien är att vidareutveckla ett benchmarkingverktyg för att hjälpa företag att bedöma sin tekniska mognad när det gäller att anta Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery och DevOps i sin organisation. Målet med forskningen är att bedöma hur man kan förbättra kvaliteten på kvalitativa modeller för att mäta detta, samt vilka slutsatser som kan dras av att jämföra företags resultat som nyttjat studien. Samt att undersöka vilka åtgärder som är effektivast att ta för att nå en högre mognadsgrad inom Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery och DevOps. Benchmarken bestod av ett frågebatteri av tvåhundra påståenden som besvarades av kunden i hur mycket de instämde till ett påstående. Resultatet samanställdes till en aktuell nulägesanalys och en börlägesanalys, med målet att dra slutsatser i vilka skillnaden som fanns mellan dessa två kategorier. Kunden besvarade frågebatteriet under en intervjustudie med utvalda anställda. Slutsatser som härrör från denna studie var att mycket kan göras för att förbättra kvaliteten på kvalitativa modeller för att undersöka Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery och DevOps mognadsgrad. Olika åtgärder är möjliga, men det viktigaste förefaller vara att fråga öppna frågor för att främja diskussion samt att ställa frågor om olika aspekter av samma problem. Samt att opponera frågorna internt i intervjuundersökningen innan det utförs hos en kund, för att öka kvaliteten. Studien visade också att det även är möjligt att se trender i Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery och DevOps mognad hos deltagarna när man jämför de kvalitativa resultaten. Studien visade att de mest effektiva metoderna för att öka Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery och DevOps mognadsgrad är att använda omfattande automatiserade testsviter för samtliga testmetoder.

The impacts resulting from the integration of students with moderate-to-severe disabilities into a contemporary technology education program are described in this study. The research centered around questions that addressed impacts on students with disabilities, on regular students, on teachers, and on parents of students with disabilities. The study took place in a ninth-grade technology education class and involved two students with moderate-to-severe disabilities. One subject was a 15-year-old male student who was autistic, had a speech handicap, and was mildly retarded. The other student was a 17-year-old male who was emotionally disturbed and learning disabled. Data were collected through classroom observations, videotaped sessions, and interviews with teachers and parents. Notes taken during observations and from videotaped sessions were transcribed, coded, and analyzed. Interviews were also transcribed. The transcripts were reviewed, and significant data were transferred to interview synopsis sheets for incorporation with the other findings. No major problems were found with the integration of the students with disabilities into the technology education program. The students with disabilities caused no discipline problems and were readily accepted by the regular students. However, because the students with disabilities were not actively involved in many of the activities of the class, much of their time was spent off task. The findings reveal that the technology education teacher, who was provided only minimal orientation prior to the placement of the students with disabilities in his class, used regular students as well as individual attention to direct the students with disabilities. A strong need for in-depth, ongoing communication was indicated between special education staff members and mainstream teachers. The importance of providing an orientation for regular students before students with disabilities are placed in mainstream classes was also evident from this study.

Driven by rapid technological developments, greater customer expectations, and increased product complexity,product development processes increasingly rely on the integration of dispersed specialist knowledge.Consequently, many industrial firms are changing the way they approach product development. Productdevelopment increasingly relies on knowledge integration across firm boundaries. Customers are one of the mostindispensable sources of knowledge, and their knowledge needs to be integrated during product development.However, little is known about the processes and mechanisms used to integrate customer knowledge in productdevelopment.Therefore, firms must devise processes and mechanisms that support knowledge integration withcustomers. This thesis aims to investigate knowledge integration with customers in collaborative productdevelopment. The work described in this thesis combines a case study with a survey approach. More specifically, five casestudies were conducted at three industrial manufacturing firms. Data were collected in 46 interviews, along withinformal discussions, workshops, and secondary material. The case studies revealed the role of knowledgeintegration, knowledge integration mechanisms, and the importance of contextual factors related to the customer’stechnical capability, and the locus of initiative for the product development project. A cross-sectional survey wasperformed in order to ascertain the role of knowledge integration and its effect on innovation performance and theeffect of firms and customers’ technical capability and locus of initiative on knowledge integration withcustomers. The survey study generated 216 responses from firms operating in the Swedish manufacturingindustry. This thesis consists of a compiled summary and five appended papers. The results in these provide the basis formodelling knowledge integration with customers. The findings confirm that integrating knowledge withcustomers in product development is associated with better innovation performance. Further, the results point tothe dynamic characteristics of knowledge integration in product development processes. More specifically, firmstend to apply different combinations of mechanisms in different phases, depending on the intended content of theknowledge contribution of the customer and the requirements of each phase in the development process. Inaddition, the degree of technical capability, internal integration capability, and locus of initiative are importantfactors influencing knowledge integration processes. This thesis sheds new light on collaborative productdevelopment with customers by demonstrating that knowledge, and particularly the integration of knowledgeacross firm boundaries, is a central property of product development. The study focuses on industrial andmanufacturing firms, complementing current perspectives on the role of customers in other sectors. In thisparticular sector, complexity and system-wide implications need to be resolved together with customers throughknowledge integration activities. An important implication of the thesis is that firms need to devise mechanismsfor knowledge integration with customers, and be prepared to redevise these as the firm progresses through theproduct development phases.

Current thesis is a documentative approach to sum up experiences of a practical projectof implementing Cyber Threat Intelligence into an existing information securitymanagement system and delivering best practices using action design researchmethodology. The project itself was delivered to a multinational energy provider in 2017.The aim of the CTI-implementation was to improve the information security posture ofthe customer. The author, as participant of the delivery team presents an extensive reviewof the current literature on CTI and puts the need for threat intelligence into context. Theauthor claims that traditional security management is not able to keep up with currentcybersecurity threats which makes a new approach required. The thesis gives an insightof an actually working and continuously developed CTI-service and offers possible bestpractices for InfoSec professionals, adds theoretical knowledge to the body of knowledgeand opens up new research areas for researchers.

Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) enable organizations to broaden their set of capabilities that equip them better to deal with the challenges lying ahead. While M&A transaction values account trillions of dollars each year, their success rate is surprisingly low. In spite of this, the amount of research aimed at reducing the uncertainty and risk associated with a M&A transaction is limited. In order to continue filling this gap, this research focuses on the socio-technical aspects of a merger or acquisition in the IT industry. This thesis examines available research literature and current best practices in the industry. Additionally, this study identifies five focus culture areas from empiric qualitative data acquired in the field. The focus areas examined in this thesis correspond to the most significant cultural challenges faced during an IT acquisition. Based on the initial findings stemming from a literature review and data analysis, this thesis develops a system dynamics model, which simulates transient behavior of the complex socio-technical underlying structures of an IT merger. This thesis thereafter proposes a model-based IT integration framework to assist the M&A management team and decision making leadership in their assessment, development and maintenance of a sound organizational model geared at supporting current and future M&A transactions. Given the fact that research on this topic is limited, this thesis represents only an initial effort to further the understanding of M&A. Further research must be developed in the future to validate this model-based IT integration framework, including improved methods of acquiring socio-technical attributes.

The singer faces some significant challenges in learning to read music, namely that their instrument has no physical domain for pitch and they must sing two languages simultaneously. When those challenges are combined with the fact that they often arrive in college with less well-developed literacy skills compared with instrumentalists, and that musical literacy instruction is often linked immediately with theoretical analysis before literacy has been established, it is not surprising that singers graduate with graduate degrees with poor musical literacy skills. Using principles of second language acquisition and reading theory, this paper seeks to present a case for the separation of theory and literacy in college curricula, and proposes that such a development will not only see the musical literacy skills of singers improve, but can be seen as the foundation for the connection of performance and theoretical streams of musical study in higher education.

Due to the increasing threat of global warming, today’s grid system faces large changes and challenges as more renewable sources are being implemented in the grid. In order to handle these changes and secure future distribution, new technologies and components are necessary. This study investigates the innovation – IT/OT integration and its rate of adoption among potential adopters – Distribution System Operators. Based upon 8 expert interviews, 19 interviews with Swedish DSOs and literature, the study has concluded the following: - Increased micro production in the Swedish electricity grid system is the main drivers for IT/OT integration. IT Security and Swedish Energy Market Inspectorates current pricing model are two of the main inhibitors for IT/OT integration. - Key factors, such as perceived attributes of the innovation and business transformation speed are of high importance when analyzing rate of adoption. - Medium-sized DSOs with high ambition are likely to adopt before other customer segments. Thus, they are potential target customers for suppliers, such as Ericsson. The thesis contributes to literature by providing research of a technical innovation within a complex market. Future research of interest is to apply similar methodology for predicting rate of adoption of IT/OT integration in other nations, since drivers and regulations might differ.
Det ökade hotet från klimatförändringar har medfört att dagens elnätssystem står inför stora förändringar och utmaningar då allt fler förnyelsebara källor implementeras i elnätet. För att hantera denna förändring och säkra framtidens eldistribution krävs att ny teknik och nya komponenter implementeras i elnätet. Denna rapport undersöker innovationen - IT/OT integration och hur denna sprids bland potentiella kunder – elnätsdistributörer. Baserat på 8 expertintervjuer, 19 intervjuer med svenska elnätsdistributörer och litteratur har studien kommit fram till följande slutsatser: - Ökad mikroproduktion i det svenska elnätet är den främsta drivaren för IT/OT integration. IT säkerhet och Energimarknadsinspektionens nuvarande regleringsmodell är idag två av de främsta barriärerna för IT/OT integration. - Huvudfaktorer, så som förväntade uppfattningen av innovationen och företags omvandlingshastighet är av stor betydelse för att uppskatta spridningshastigheten av innovationen. - Mellanstora DSOer med höga ambitioner kommer troligast ta till sig tekniken tidigare än andra kundsegment och bör därför vara potentiell målgrupp för leverantörer, så som Ericsson. Rapporten bidrar till forskningen genom att en teknisk innovation analyserats i en komplex marknad. Vidare undersökningar som kan genomföras är att applicera motsvarande metodik för estimera spridningen av IT/OT integration i andra länder, då drivare och regleringar där kan skilja sig från Sverige.

In spite of the large overlap in the goals of CTE and STEM education, there is little evidence of the role(s) CTE delivery systems, programs, curricula, or pedagogical strategies can play in advancing STEM education. Because of their responsibilities, especially for organizational and instructional leadership, school district CTE directors could illuminate our understanding of linkages between CTE and STEM education. The purpose of this study was to analyze the experiences of school district CTE directors to better understand these linkages. The researcher used a qualitative research design to gain understanding of the local CTE directors' experiences. Data were collected using face-to-face semi-structured interviews with 13 participants. The data were analyzed using a continuous process of coding, recoding, memo-writing and making comparisons across the transcripts. Among the results of the study were that definitions of STEM education were varied, but all had aspects of an integrated approach and using real world applications. The data revealed a number of contributions made by CTE to assist in STEM education implementation. They include context for learning, multiple pathways; platform for program delivery, and administrative leadership and framework. It was also found that strategies for increasing the visibility of CTE's contributions in the advancement of STEM education could include marketing CTE, demonstrating the value of CTE, enhancing curriculum and instruction, and rebranding CTE. Conclusions made in the study include, but not limited to, the fact that there are tremendous reciprocal benefits that CTE and STEM education can provide for one another, given there are strong, mutual, and intended linkage of the two; and that establishing a state-level STEM education coordinator position would result in providing much needed leadership at the local and state levels. Recommendations for practice that were made in the study include, but are not limited to, continuing to establish Virginia Governor's Academies throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia by aligning STEM education with CTE and continuing to support, at the highest level, intentional and mutual collaborative initiatives between STEM education and CTE. A recommendation for future research includes conducting a longitudinal study on the impact that Virginia Governor's Academies are having on student morale, growth, learning, and future endeavor.

The focus of this study is to determine the relationship between a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Information Technology (IT) teacher's self-assessed level of technology proficiency to the level of technology integration into the classroom, the prior work experience in the information technology field, the years of teaching experience, and the stage of adoption of technology. Participants were CTE IT teachers who were members of an IT teacher listserv that was established by the UNT Grant for Educational Excellence from the Texas Education Agency/CTE and teaching in Grades 9-12 in the state of Texas during the 2015-2016 school year. The study utilized a quantitative survey methodology to gain a perspective on the correlation of the variables. Three validated self-report instruments were administered via an online survey. The three instruments utilized were the Technology Proficiency Self-Assessment for 21st Century Learning, Concerns-Based Adoption Model-Levels of Use (CBAM-LoU), and the Stages of Adoption of Technology.

In the last years, the number of freely available Linked and Open Data datasets has multiplied into tens of thousands. The numbers of applications taking advantage of it, however, have not. Thus, large portions of potentially valuable data remain unexploited and are inaccessible for lay users. Therefore the upfront investment in releasing data in the first place is hard to justify. The lack of applications needs to be addressed in order not to undermine efforts put into Linked and Open Data. In existing research, strong indicators can be found that the dearth of applications is due to a lack of pragmatic, working architectures supporting these applications and guiding developers. In this thesis, a new architecture for the integration and application of Linked and Open Data is presented. Fundamental design decisions are backed up by two studies: firstly, based on real-world Linked and Open Data samples, characteristic properties are identified. A key finding is the fact that large amounts of structured data display tabular structures, do not use clear licensing and involve multiple different file formats. Secondly, following on from that study, a comparison of storage choices in relevant query scenarios is made. It includes the de-facto standard storage choice in this domain, Triples Stores, as well as relational and NoSQL approaches. Results show significant performance deficiencies of some technologies in certain scenarios. Consequently, when integrating Linked and Open Data in scenarios with application-specific entities, the first choice of storage is relational databases. Combining these findings and related best practices of existing research, a prototype framework is implemented using Java 8 and Hibernate. As a proof-of-concept it is employed in an existing Linked and Open Data integration project. Thereby, it is shown that a best practice architectural component is introduced successfully, while development effort to implement specific program code can be simplified. Thus, the present work provides an important foundation for the development of semantic applications based on Linked and Open Data and potentially leads to a broader adoption of such applications.

The impact of a six-hour professional development workshop on probeware integration was researched. The workshop combined technical probeware instruction with strategies on how to integrate probeware into the classroom and culminated with participants creating personal action plans for using probeware immediately following the workshop. Data was collected from four workshops with a total of 48 participants. The effectiveness of the workshop was assessed by measuring the participants change in comfort level using the probeware and tracking the use of the equipment immediately following the workshop. The data revealed that the workshop had a positive impact on most participants. The participants' average comfort level using the probeware increased 3.8 points on a 10 point scale, 94% of participants agreed that they were ready to use the probeware in their classroom, and 65% of participants used the probeware within six weeks following the workshop. Probeware integration was most successful in schools with staff who worked together to learn the technology and in schools that had the equipment installed, organized, and easily accessed. The six-hour training had a positive impact, but was not sufficient for complete probeware integration.

Para tanto, adota-se o mÃtodo dialÃtico de investigaÃÃo e exposiÃÃo crÃtica do objeto com arrimo nas anÃlises de cunho marxista realizadas sobre a documentaÃÃo legal e bibliografia pertinentes à temÃtica, encorpadas pelos insumos advindos de entrevistas e questionÃrios que compÃem a pesquisa de campo realizada junto à rede educacional cearense que desenvolve o EMI a EPT desde sua implantaÃÃo em 2007. No itinerÃrio da pesquisa, delineia-se o contexto histÃrico geral, que evidencia a tendÃncia à dualidade estrutural como marca distintiva na educaÃÃo escolar no Brasil, destacando o mote das polÃticas educacionais da dÃcada de 1990, com Ãnfase nas mediaÃÃes entre a educaÃÃo e as transformaÃÃes ocorridas mundo do trabalho desde os anos 1960, caracterizadas, sobremodo, pelo binÃmio reestruturaÃÃo produtiva e contrarreforma do Estado. This dissertation is focused on the integration of High School (HS) with Professional Technical Education (PTE), in this work it is intended to overcome the classic historical division between the Professional Education, which is said to be addressed to the working class, versus the Propaedeutic Education that forms in Brazilian context the dominant politics class. In order to achieve our goals, It is adopted a dialectical method of investigation added to a critical exposition of the studied object based on a Marxist analysis on the legal documentation and bibliography related to the theme. All these comments were empowered by data coming from questionnaires and interviews which were extracted from the field research investigation which took place on the educational system of Cearà that has worked with the method HS to PTE since its beginning in 2008. In the development of the research, it was pointed out the general historical context of the educational problematic in Brazil, showing the tendency to structural duality as the hallmark in Brazilian education, we also highlighted the theme of the educational policies in the 1990s, taking emphasis on the mediation between education and the global changes since the 1960s, paradigm, greatly, characterized by the binomial productive restructuring and governmental counter-reformulation. In this overview, we went through an analysis of the president Lulaâs government in which was originated the political integration HS/PTE. First, we debated the contributions of legal integration policy, with emphasis on political and ideological struggles that resulted in the Decree No. 5.154/2004 and the subsequent changes made to the LDB No. 9394/1996 concerning the discussed matter. Secondly, we debated the set of governmental actions related to HS, expressed by the Education Development Plan (EDP) and the consequences of integration policy HS/PTE in the state of CearÃ, enforcing the political reconfigurations of the local bourgeoisie expressed in the adoption of the conception of the world as business derived mainly from the philosophy of socio-educational stuff as a business technology (abbreviated in Portuguese as TESIS), all those elements put together as theoretical reference and base management to the formation / implementation of HS model in CearÃ. The results mentioned in this research showed that in Brazil it is notorious the division between the formation of working class educational versus the formation of dominant/politic class, this context was influenced differentially by the historical movements of the structural crisis of capital in the current stage of development of the productive forces. That context, added to an exacerbated absence of a national education system, influenced the federal agencies. In this sense, we can conclude that education in its various forms and levels has been influenced by the capitalist logic, then, it has been legitimizing the classist status quo, enforcing, in this way, the maintenance/ deepening of social asymmetries, adapting the human conscience to the capitalist system. In this scene, it is crucial to overcome this paradigm, so the public school rises as a "trench" to be defended against the capitalist purpose, a defense based on the purification of the educational system from the deliberated forces of capitalism. We also concluded the urgency of developing the cultural level of the masses subordinated to the limits of capital, fighting against the untouchable bases of extraction of surplus value what originates the social division of labor/ private ownership of the means of production.

Les travaux présentés contribuent à un des enjeux majeurs de l'Entreprise Etendue liée au domaine de la production d'énergie électrique. L'objectif est de maintenir en dynamique la qualité des services rendus par les processus de production. Ces travaux ont ainsi pour objet, en se référant au cadre de modélisation d'Entreprise GERAM, de proposer une méthodologie réutilisable pour l'automatisation intégrée des centrales hydroélectriques. Ces dernières étant structurellement des systèmes stables, cette méthodologie est basée sur une approche orientée processus et aboutit au développement de modèles pérennes et réutilisables. Le point central de cette méthodologie consiste en la définition d'un modèle de référence ICMMS (Intelligent Control-Maintenance-technical Management Systems) formalisant la connaissance générique, de niveau terrain, applicable à l'automatisation de toute centrale hydroélectrique. La mise en œuvre de ce modèle de référence conduit à la proposition d'une architecture HSAS (Hybrid Smart Automation System) qui intègre en un tout cohérent sur les points de vue Contrôle, Maintenance et Gestion Technique, les différents composants d'automatisation distribués, supportés par des actionneurs, capteurs, ou contrôleurs conventionnels de niveau terrain. Par rapport à cette architecture, les concepts innovants de "Surveillance Conditionnelle" pour l'îlot Maintenance et d' "Atténuation de Perturbations" pour l'îlot Contrôle sont définis et étudiés afin d'être intégrés au système ICMMS. De plus, nous proposons, pour la Gestion Technique, des concepts, critères et outils pour l'évaluation de performances des HGUs (Hydroelectric Generating Units). Cette contribution est basée sur la définition d'un système d'évaluation des performances économiques utilisant des descripteurs quantitatifs mesurant l'état d'efficacité, le niveau de gestion de l'exploitation et l'état de maintenance de ces unités. Une nouvelle stratégie en lien avec la maintenance, intitulée EBM (Economic performance Based Maintenance), est ainsi formalisée. L'ensemble de nos propositions est validée sur une étude de cas.

Анотація:
A quasi experimental study tested a contextual teaching and learning (CTL) model for integrating reading and mathematics competencies through 13 introductory Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. Volunteer CTE Lead Teachers with assistance from academic teachers, developed integrated units. The purpose of this study was to determine whether students who participated in CTE courses that integrated core mathematics and reading standards performed better on a test of mathematics and reading skills compared to students who participated in traditional, non-integrated courses. The treatment group consisted of students in the 13 introductory courses taught by the CTE Lead Teachers and the control group consisted of students in all other sections of the 13 introductory courses not taught by CTE Lead Teachers. After a 26-week intervention, 9th and 10th grade student Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) reading and mathematics scores were analyzed to determine if the mean change in post-test scores was greater in the treatment group than the mean change in scores in the control group. An ANCOVA and multiple regression analysis of quantitative data revealed that the integrated CTE courses were statistically significant in improving reading treatment group scores, but not statistically significant in improving mathematics treatment group scores. The study is significant because it seeks to address a gap in the literature on academic and CTE integration and to provide evidence that a partnership between academics and CTE can contribute to student achievement as measured by state assessments.

Uppsatsen belyser invandrade akademikers erfarenheter av Söderhamns kommuns Insteg till Svenskt Arbetsliv, en kurs för att underlätta inträdet på svensk arbetsmarknad samt invandrade akademikers syn på hur de kan få jobb i Sverige. Det är svårt för invandrade akademiker att få arbete som motsvarar deras utbildning.  Metoden för undersökningen har varit semistrukturerade intervjuer med fyra invandrade akademiker. Resultatet visade att ISA-kursen gav information om hur man söker jobb i Sverige och hur den svenska arbetsmarknaden fungerar, kontakt med arbetsgivare samt träning i att prata svenska. Resultatet visade att det behövs kurser i svenskt fackspråk och ekonomiskt stöd för att studera svenska på hög nivå. Resultatet överensstämmer med Svenskt Näringslivs åsikt att brist på effektiva utbildningar i svenska gör att Sverige inte kan förvalta hitflyttad välutbildad arbetskraft. Resultatet visar att kommuner behöver fördela rätt kompetens till rätt kommun samt att invandrade akademiker behöver hjälp med kontakter med arbetsgivare. Processen att få ett arbete behöver gå snabbare för att invandrade akademiker inte ska tappa motivation.


 

This thesis explains how academically educated immigrants in Söderhamn, Sweden, have experienced a course aiming to help them enter the Swedish job market. It gives these academically educated immigrants' views on how they can get a job in Sweden. It is difficult for academically educated immigrants to get work in Sweden equivalent to their education. The method used has been semi-structured interviews with four immigrants with academic educations. The result shows that the course gave information about how to apply for a job in Sweden and how the Swedish job market works, contact with Swedish employers and training in speaking Swedish. The result also shows that there is a need for technical language courses in Swedish that gives immigrants the terminology needed to be able to practice their professions in Sweden.  In addition there is a need for financial support to be able to study Swedish at high levels. This result corresponds with the view of Svenskt Näringsliv: There is a lack of effective Swedish courses in Sweden which makes it impossible to make use of highly educated people that move here. Furthermore the result shows that communities in Sweden need to have a better communication and place people with competence to the appropriate community. Finally academically educated immigrants need help in contacting Swedish employers. The process to get a job in Sweden must be quicker or they may lose their motivation to find work in Sweden.

Nationwide, mathematical scores have been a topic of concern among elementary and secondary educators for many years. Decreasing math skills are also trickling into post-secondary education, requiring universities to provide additional remedial math instruction in colleges and universities. Studies have been conducted to discover the most effective pedagogical methods of teaching math. Teaching contextualized math has been found to be effective and includes providing a direct application to real-life scenarios rather than teaching linear equations and algebraic principles outside of their application. A study was conducted measuring the effects of integrating mathematical skills in an animal science curriculum. Eight Utah schools participated in the research study. Students received a pretest measuring their existing mathematical skills and self-efficacy in math. All students were taught a unit of instruction about animal nutrition and feeding. The control group received a typical nutrition unit and the treatment group received the same unit of instruction with the addition of mathematical skill integration. Students were taught to use the Pearson Square to calculate feed rations as well as solve basic equations to balance rations. Following the unit of instruction, students completed a posttest survey, which included a math attitudinal scale, posttreatment self-efficacy scale, and posttreatment math skills quiz. There was no statistically significant difference in math self-efficacy or math skills between the control group receiving a typical nutrition unit and the treatment group which received the math-enhanced unit of instruction. Correlational statistics were gathered and showed a strong positive relationship between students' self-efficacy and math skills. Gender, grade level, highest completed math class, and grade received in highest-level math class were not found to be statistically significant predictions of math skills. Highest level of math completed and overall grade point average were statistically significant factors in predicting math self-efficacy.

Student dropout, certification and retention rate has played a pivotal role for academic institutions globally. There are various factors that affect student persistence which inevitably leads to a student’s failure to graduate. These factors may also result in voluntary withdrawal from institutions which could impact on the status and funding of tertiary institutions. To deal with such critical issues, there is a need to understand the reasons for the decline in student retention and the factors that influence goals and student departure. The aim of the current study was to explore the factors that may or may not contribute to persistence, which eventually has an influence on the retention rate. In the current qualitative study, Tinto’s longitudinal model was comprehensively explored. Therefore, the current study was located within Tinto’s longitudinal model of student departure. The researcher was prompted to explore the factors that influence student goals, institutional commitments, social and academic integration and persistence. The South African government expected that the role of the TVET colleges would become the cornerstone of the skills development landscape. According to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET, 2013b), it was estimated that the growth in the sector would escalate as follows: the projection of 345 000 students in 2010, 630 000 students in 2013. The total projection for 2030 was that 2.5 million students would be certified (DHET, 2013b). Unfortunately, the 2030 projection has been adversely affected by the poorly performing institution and the high dropout rate. (DHET, 2013b) Therefore, the setting for the research was a Technical Vocational College in Cape Town which offers the National Certificate Vocational NCV. The single institutional study linking academic integration, goal influencers, institutional commitments social and academic integration and persistence was based in a college in Cape Town. Thus the study has an overarching research question and three sub-questions. The college was selected conveniently and the researcher purposively selected the participants. A total of twenty participants (20) were interviewed after providing assent and consent. The qualitative design utilized in the current study allowed the researcher to identify themes. Therefore, thematic analysis was employed in the data analysis section. The researcher is currently an insider in this sector. The unique experience and academic background of the researcher has afforded the opportunity to ethically gain access to past results in the TVET, specifically, in a NCV programme at a Cape Town College.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka behovet av stöd hos högstadieelever med hörselnedsättning som går integrerat i den ordinarie grundskolan. Jag har använt mig utav en kvantitativ enkätmetod samt en kvalitativ intervjumetod, där jag har genomfört tre telefonintervjuer innan utformningen av enkäten påbörjades. Resultatet av studien grundar sig på 18 enkätsvar, av 54 utskickade, samt tre telefonintervjuer med personer som har en hörselnedsättning och tidigare har gått integrerat i den ordinarie grundskolan. Resultatet visar att eleverna har ansträngande skoldagar till följd av att det krävs full koncentration för att höra vad klasskamraterna säger. För att de ska ha en chans att följa med i samtalen i klassrummen krävs en bra ljudmiljö, det är fyra elever som har uppgett att de inte kan följa med i samtalen. Med tanke på att många av eleverna går i stora klasser, vissa klasser har fler än 30 elever, kan jag förstå att drygt hälften av respondenterna har uppgett att de har ett behov av att få studera i ett enskilt rum för att få lugn och ro. De respondenter och informanter som har svarat att de brukar lämna klassrummet för till exempel träffa en hörselpedagog, har upplevt detta som positivt. En central fråga i denna studie är om eleverna har behov av stöd och vad stödet bestod av. Det är endast fyra elever som har uppgett att de är i behov av stöd. Fem elever har svarat att de får stöd, till exempel i form av hörselpedagogiskt stöd och specialpedagogiskt stöd.

ABSTRACT This dissertation aimed to analyze the integration conception proposed in the Technical Course Project of Integrated Intermediate Level in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance IFBA/Salvador. Initially, I made a comparison between the official documents and the legislation on vocational education in effect, in which the integration dimensions are based on the principles of work, science, culture and technology, which enable students to access to the socially produced knowledge and thus, to an emancipating training. The analysis was performed in light of academic work of work and education area, taking as reference, specifically, the fundamentals produced by the authors who discuss vocational education in the Brazilian context, such as: Ciavatta, Frigotto, Kuenzer, Machado, Oliveira, Ramos, and Saviani. The Course Project studied was elaborated pursuant to Decree No. 5.154/2004, which (re) establishes the possibility of curricular integration between high school and vocational education. The approach used in the research was on historic-dialectical nature, because it permitted the analysis of the working and education relationships, talking to the various contexts, historicizing them. The methodological procedure used was the bibliographic and documental research, in which were analyzed the main documents of the Ministry of Education that guided the implementation of integration (Laws, Decrees, Opinions and Legislation), and the Course Project. Also, I performed interviews with professors who participated in the Commission that elaborated the Project. In the first chapter, I discussed the working and education categories and its relationship with vocational education in contemporary Brazil. In the second chapter, I approached the vocational education integration challenge to high school. In the third and final chapter, I presented the results of the analysis of the Technical Course Project of Integrated Intermediate Level in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance IFBA/Salvador including the results of the interviews, finding that the project was elaborated without a consistent ground of what the integration conception is like. The following to-be-faced challenges were identified by IFBA/Salvador: to raise discussions with IFBA community in order to clarify what an integrated course really is like; to develop a plan of collective teaching among teachers in general and specific training; to mobilize students in order to involve them in the integration concrete actions, including interpersonal relationships; to improve the communicational conditions, materials and infrastructure; to establish a conversational relationship with the companies and, especially, develop an integrated technical vocational education to a quality high school in which the student may be subject of his/her history. For this, it is necessary to rethink the Course Project.
Esta dissertação teve como objetivo analisar a concepção de integração proposta no Projeto do Curso Técnico de Nível Médio Integrado em Manutenção Mecânica Industrial do IFBA/Salvador. Inicialmente realizei o cotejamento do Projeto com os documentos oficiais e a legislação sobre educação profissional vigente, em que as dimensões da integração são balizadas sob os princípios do trabalho, da ciência, da cultura e da tecnologia, as quais possibilitam aos alunos o acesso aos conhecimentos socialmente produzidos e com isso, a uma formação emancipadora. A análise foi realizada à luz da produção acadêmica da área trabalho e educação, tomando como subsídio, especificamente, os fundamentos produzidos pelos autores que debatem a educação profissional no contexto brasileiro, tais como: Ciavatta, Frigotto, Kuenzer, Machado, Oliveira, Ramos e Saviani. O Projeto do curso estudado foi elaborado em obediência ao Decreto nº 5.154/2004, que (re)estabelece a possibilidade de integração curricular entre o ensino médio e a educação profissional. A abordagem utilizada na pesquisa foi de natureza histórico-dialética, pois permitiu a análise das relações trabalho e educação, dialogando com os diversos contextos, historicizando-os. O procedimento metodológico utilizado foi a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, em que foram analisados os principais documentos do Ministério da Educação que nortearam a implantação da integração (Leis, Decretos, Pareceres e Legislação), e o Projeto do Curso. Realizei, também, entrevistas com professores que participaram da Comissão que elaborou o Projeto. No primeiro capítulo, discuti as categorias trabalho e educação e sua relação com a educação profissional no Brasil contemporâneo. No segundo capítulo, abordei o desafio da integração da educação profissional ao ensino médio. No terceiro e último capítulo, apresentei os resultados da análise do Projeto do Curso Técnico de Nível Médio Integrado em Manutenção Mecânica Industrial do IFBA/Salvador incluindo os resultados das entrevistas, constatando que o Projeto foi elaborado sem uma fundamentação consistente do que seja a concepção de integração. Foram identificados os seguintes desafios a serem enfrentados pelo IFBA/Salvador: promover debates com a comunidade do IFBA para esclarecer sobre o que seja realmente um curso integrado; desenvolver um planejamento de ensino coletivo entre os professores de formação geral e de formação específica; mobilizar os alunos no sentido de envolvê-los nas ações concretas da integração, inclusive nas relações interpessoais; melhorar as condições comunicacionais, materiais e de infraestrutura; estabelecer uma relação dialógica com as empresas e, principalmente, desenvolver uma educação profissional técnica integrada ao ensino médio de qualidade na qual o educando possa ser sujeito de sua história. Para isso, faz-se necessário repensar o Projeto do Curso.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate how the challenges of Internet of Things that manufacturers can influence can be overcome. Theoretical foundation - This study conducted an extensive literature review to identify and understand the challenges to Internet of Things and actions to overcome them. 11 technical challenges, 13 organisational and 6 resource availability challenges were identified. 4 actions were identified. Method - To fulfil the purpose, an embedded multiple case study at a global Aerospace manufacturer was conducted. 7 unstructured interviews, 12 semi-structured interviews and a survey were conducted. Respondents were picked due to their experience in Internet of Things projects and relevant technologies. The survey was conducted to evaluate the challenges’ relevance to high-technology manufacturers, on a 7-point Likert scale. The semi-structured interviews aimed to find actions to overcoming the challenges relevant to high-technology manufacturers. Findings - The evaluation of the challenges relevance to high-technology manufacturers resulted in 10 common, 9 occasional and 2 uncommon challenges. 12 actions to overcoming the challenges and their tasks were identified. Theoretical contribution - The study provides a comprehensive list of potential challenges to Internet of Things. It evaluated the challenges’ impact on high-technology manufacturers, thus challenging and validating Internet of Things challenges presented in literature. It provides a set of actions and a framework which aids in overcoming challenges that impact high-technology manufacturers’ Internet of Things initiatives, thus contributing to digital change management. Finally, it aids in the progress towards concretising Industry 4.0 and its trends toward connectivity, intelligence, and flexible automation. Practical contribution - The study provides an increased understanding of potential challenges of Internet of Things, and recommendations to how high-technology manufacturer can overcome the challenges. A framework is provided which gives an overview of which actions, and subsequent tasks, to take to overcome a specific challenge.

This is a study of standardization in complexity. The context is innovation policy. Why do standardization and innovation go hand in hand and what does the interaction of interests between public and private actors look like in the “profile” of the standardization process? The nature of technical specifications, Lead Market Initiatives in Europe, social innovations, eco-innovations and psychological services for recruitment are the target areas of this study done in the style of Science, Technology and Society. We decrypt the codes of the expected behavior veiled in standards, the strategically selective sectoral integration of the European Internal Market, the emergence of innovation in standardized areas, the nature of the European innovation policy and the mission of each particular innovative sector. This research contains answers on how the European Union will move toward a more state-like organization bypassing the sovereignty of its member states. Standardization is a bouquet of strategic activities where each has its purpose, destination and time-framework. By studying standardization, we are able to look into the European future.

The use of gas microturbines as a primary unit in CHP is still weak in the industrial process. It gives the driving force to the main aim of this master thesis, which is the technical and economic evaluation of the gas microturbines waste heat recovery system, which is the key factor for their economic sustainability. Assignment contains description of CHP system that was gradually built in LENP laboratory, part of NETME Centre. The author has joined the final work before start-up of the CHP system. He presents and describes results of the first experiments on this unit. The flue gas of a microturbine was used for heating water by heat exchanger flue gas–water and for direct linen drying. The case study of laundry with capacity 10 tons per shift was developed in cooperation with companies in laundry care. Results of those tests were used to process integration and utilization of this professional industrial laundry All obstacles found and opportunities of the use of microturbines are comprehensively described and tested in case studies, which are simulated in Chemstation Chemcad Software. Results of the thesis are expected to be useful these fields: the use of gas microturbines in industry & energy savings in industrial laundries.

Em resposta ao Decreto n° 5.154/04 e à Lei n° 11892/08, os Institutos Federais de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia (IFs), resgataram a opção de ofertar cursos de Ensino Médio Integrado à Educação Profissional Técnica (EMIEPT). Partindo da hipótese de que a proposta de integração circunscrita a essa forma de articulação entre EM e EPT devia implicar de alguma forma em uma constituição idiossincrática das dimensões do ensino de seus componentes curriculares, recorre-se à história, aos construtos teóricos e às políticas curriculares com vistas a apreender como o que é historicizado, almejado e prescrito (deveria) impacta(r) a materialização desse conjunto na elaboração da dimensão do planejamento curricular dos cursos de EMIEPT e do planejamento de ensino do Componente Curricular Língua Estrangeira-Inglês (CCLEI). Para tanto, este estudo se caracteriza como exploratório e descritivo (GIL, 1996) e faz uso das pesquisas bibliográfica e documental (CELLARD, 2008). No total, são analisados, quali-quantitavamente (FLICK, 2009), sessenta e duas matrizes curriculares, vinte e dois planos de cursos e quatorze ementários, os quais foram catalogados nos sítios eletrônicos de IFs. Os resultados da análise bibliográfica evidenciam que o EMIEPT 1) se singulariza pelos fundamentos filosóficos, epistemológicos e pedagógicos oriundos da concepção de educação omnilateral e politécnica e de escola unitária baseada no programa de educação de Marx (e Engels) e de Gramsci, pelos fundamentos de currículo integrado e pela missão de escamotear a dualidade de classes brasileira via superação da dualidade histórica entre formação geral e formação profissional; 2) tem seus fundamentos hibridizados no âmbito das recentes políticas curriculares de modo que o horizonte da politecnia acaba ficando a cargo das próprias instituições que o adota(re)m e 3) e o CCLEI podem se sincronizarem caso os objetivos linguísticos e instrumentais se conjuguem com os objetivos educacionais (específicos) o que pode ser feito à luz da abordagem de letramento crítico (BRASIL, 2006) integrada (ou não) às outras abordagens de ensino de línguas hegemônicas no Brasil. Já os resultados da análise documental mostram que o que é almejado e prescrito tanto para o EMIEPT quanto para o CCLEI não está sendo incorporado pelos planejamentos curricular e de ensino, respectivamente. No que tange ao planejamento curricular, vê-se que a maioria dos planos de cursos investigados não delimitou objetivos e organização curriculares que apontem para a politecnia por meio da integração entre formação geral e formação profissional. Já os planejamentos de ensino do CCLEI se furtam, majoritariamente, do compromisso com os objetivos educacionais de formação humana integral bem como da integração de seus conhecimentos com os outros de formação geral e com os de formação técnica. Esses documentos foram de fato influenciados por variáveis relacionadas às, também duais, tradições de ensino de línguas estrangeiras no Brasil, quais sejam, as abordagens estrutural, comunicativa e instrumental. Conclui-se enfatizando o papel da adesão das comunidades escolares no que tange ao necessário aprofundamento nos construtos subjacentes ao EMIEPT de modo a poder materializar nas dimensões de ensino o que é almejado e prescrito com vistas a romper ao que foi historicizado.
In response to the Decree 5.154/04 and to the Law 11.892/08, the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology (IFs), rescued the option of offering courses to High School Integrated to the Technical Education (HSITE). Assuming that the proposed integration restricted to this form of relationship between HS and TE should result in a somewhat idiosyncratic constitution of the teaching dimensions of its curriculum components, it is resorted to history, to the theoretical constructs and to the curriculum policies in order to grasp how what it is historicized, desired and required (should) impact the materialization of this set in the drafting of the HSITE curricular planning and the teaching planning of one Curriculum Component-English as a Foreign Language English (CCEFL) . Therefore, this study is characterized as exploratory and descriptive (GIL, 1996) and makes use of bibliographical and documentary researches (CELLARD, 2008). In total, sixty-two grade sheet, twenty-two courses´ plans and fourteen syllabi are analyzed qualitative and quantitatively (FLICK, 2009), which came from the websites of the IFs. The results of the literature review showed that the HSITE 1) distinguishes itself by its epistemological, pedagogical and philosophical foundations on the omnilateral and polytechnic education and on the unitary school based on the education program of Marx (and Engels) and Gramsci, on the grounds of the integrated curriculum and by its mission of concealing the Brazilian duality of classes via overcoming the historical duality between general education and vocational training, 2) has its foundations hybridized within the recent curriculum policies so that the horizon of the polytechnic is left to the institutions which adopt it 3) and CCEFL can be synchronized if the linguistic and instrumental goals are combined with the educational goals (specific) what can be done in the light of the critical literacy approach (BRAZIL, 2006) integrated (or not) to other hegemonic approaches in language education in Brazil. The results of the documentary analysis showed that what is both desired and required by the HSITE and by the CCEFL are not being incorporated by the curriculum and teaching plannings, respectively. With regard to the curriculum planning, it is seen that most of the surveyed courses´ plans are not delimited objectives and curricular organizations which point to the polytechnic through the integration between general education and vocational training. Yet, most teaching CCEFL´s plannings is not commitment to the educational objectives of integral human formation as well as to integrating its knowledge to others from general education and from the technical training. These documents were in fact influenced by variables related to the, also dual, traditions of foreign language teaching in Brazil, namely, structural, communicative and instrumental approaches. It is concluded by emphasizing the role of the accession of school communities regarding to the need to deepen the constructs underlying the HSITE in order to materialize the dimensions of teaching to what is desired and required in order to disrupt what has been historicized.

Les troubles praxiques font partie des critères d’inclusion decertaines pathologies neurodégénératives et sont de nature à réduirel'autonomie de ces patients. Pourtant, les rares travaux dans cedomaine prennent rarement en compte les spécificités liées auxpathologies dégénératives (e.g., évolution, lésions diffuses,phénotypes différents), sans compter qu’il n’existe pas de consensusthéorique sur l’apraxie. Les troubles d'utilisation des outils ontlongtemps été expliqués par la perte de représentations stockées (e.g.,connaissances sur les objets ou les gestes) mais des modèles récentssuggèrent de distinguer l’utilisation proprement dite de l’usagecommunément admis. De même, l’apraxie est fréquemment mise enrapport avec la perte d’une représentation du corps mais une mise enperspective historique de la littérature permet de constater qu'il s'agitd'un postulat tout à fait récent. La présente thèse émet une propositionalternative en opposant à la notion de représentation corporelle desprocessus plus dynamiques et neurologiquement ancrés tels quel’intégration sensorielle. Au plan théorique, la présente thèse proposeainsi une mise en perspective historique et une revue critique de lalittérature, ainsi qu’une réflexion épistémologique opposant savoir etraisonnement, permettant de distinguer des troubles spécifiques dugeste et des répercussions "dans le geste" d'autres niveaux deperturbations. Au plan clinique, ce travail de neuropsychologieclinique et expérimentale examine ces différents niveaux dans uneperspective différentielle et montre que les dissociations envisagéessont cliniquement opérantes
Apraxia is a diagnostic criterion for neurodegenerativediseases and can reduce autonomy in these patients. Yet, the fewstudies that have been done in this domain rarely take into accountspecificities of dementia (e.g., evolution, diffuse lesions, differentphenotypes) and there is no theoretical consensus on apraxia. Tooluse disorders are mainly explained by the loss of stored knowledge(e.g., about tools or gestures) but recent models suggest to distinguishthe actual use of tools from common usage. Likewise, apraxiai sfrequently linked with the loss of body representations but a historicalperspective of the literature demonstrates that it is a relatively recentassumption. The present doctoral thesis submits an alternativeproposal by opposing body representation and more dynamic andneurological processes, that is, sensory integration. Thus, at thetheoretical level this work proposes a historical perspective and acritical review of existing literature, as well as an epistemologicalreflection that contrasts knowledge and reasoning, and that makes adistinction between specific gesture disorders and consequences ofother cognitive impairments on gesture production. At a clinical level,this neuropsychological research examines these different levels ofimpairments in patients through a differential approach. Results showthat the aforementioned theoretical considerations are clinicallyvalidated
