Historically STFT Fajar Timur has evolved in cooperation and immersion within the spirit of synod. It is the spirit of partnership, participation and mission. In its historical dynamic, STFT Fajar Timur has embraced five modes of synod . They are the synod between STFT Fajar and: universal church, the local church, local society, the state and all human beings. However, it seems that historical challenge, eclesicatical change and social progress have shifted the intensity of its synod. Unfortunately, certain element is eventually disappearing. The missing synodal element is the communion with all human beings (female and male, lay people and priest candidate). The question is to what extent, STFT Fajar Timur is able to reorganize its institution to remain capturing the fundamental aspect of synodal life in its academic vibration. Principally, it must firmly stand on five pivotal aspects: the education as a community of dialogue, trust, self-examination, citizen of the global and narrative imagination.

The 4th Synod of the Warsaw Archdioceses was debating during the five-year period, between 19th March 1998 and 19th March 2003 when the Warsaw Church had been run by the primate of Poland, cardinal Joseph Glemp. He proposed, summoned and carried out the synod and promulgated its resolutions. The initiative of summoning the synod was connected with the need for overall renewal of the religious and moral life of the Warsaw archdiocese. The synod’s deliberations and its resolutions were to cause the betterment of the organization and functioning of administrative and pastoral apparatus in the archdiocese, to normalize the many issues concerning the church and religious life, as well as to improve the laity and clergy’s religious, social and moral level. To achieve, a wide representation of clergy, catholic laity and monks were engaged. The synodical resolutions with its jurisdictional and pastoral nature are signified by strong setting in the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, the Canon Law, the documents of the Holy See and John Paul II, as well as by the resolutions of the Second Polish Plenary Second and the instructions of the Conference of the Polish Episcopate. At the same time they refer to the tradition of the Warsaw archdiocese and remain fully opened for the “tomorrow” of the Church, evangelizing and pastoral objective. Furthermore they undertake, organize and regulate many difficult pastoral issues. Thus the synodical legislator contributed to the renewal, revival and activation of the church and administrative structures of the archdioceses, so they could serve to various pastoral, church and administrative assignments.

Como subsídio para a Exortação do Papa, os trabalhos desembocaram em um Documento Final, votado unanimemente pelos padres sinodais. O texto propõe como desafio e tarefa para a Igreja na Amazônia cinco conversões: integral, pastoral, cultural, ecológica e sinodal. Este artigo, depois de fazer algumas considerações sobre o evento, se propõe fazer uma síntese analítica de cada um dos cinco capítulos, correspondentes às cinco conversões mencionadas. Abstract: The recently completed Amazon Synod was largely synodal in its preparation and realization. As an aid to the Pope’s exhortation, the work ended in a Final Document, voted unanimously by the Synod Fathers. The text proposes as a challenge and task for the Church in the Amazon five conversions: integral, pastoral, cultural, ecological and synodal conversion. This article surveys three important and interlinked aspects of Justinian's policy in his first decade: reconquest in the West; the establishment of a set of fundamental texts of Roman Law; and the achievement of unity of belief within the Church. In that context, it looks at the remarkable record preserved in Acta Conciliorum Oecumenicorum III, of five successive sessions of a synod held at Constantinople, and one synod in Jerusalem. Its purpose is both to illustrate contacts and influences across the Mediterranean and, more particularly, to bring out distinctive features of the Church in the Near Eastern provinces.

Mission and unity: A Dutch Reformed perspective The decisions on church unity and ecumenical relationships, taken by the Bloemfontein synod of the Dutch Reformed Church (October, 1990) came as a welcome surprise to many and as an unwelcome disappointment to others. The importance of six resolutions adopted by synod, as well as their implications for the mission of the church, are discussed. If Christians were to fulfil their calling in this respect, the author contends, they will have to leant to look in a new way in five directions: at one another; at their own hearts; at new models for unity, at the local church; and, finally, at God Himself.

This article aims to give an overview of the 17th-century documents that are now kept in the Rare Books Department of the Wroblewski Library and that belonged to the library of the Vilnius Evangelical Reformed Synod until February 1941. This library was established 465 years ago, at the time of the establishment of the Vilnius Evangelical Reformed Synod, Unitas Lithuaniae. The library had a difficult time surviving since its very establishment; it was burned, moved from Vilnius to Kėdainiai and also to Slutsk, a town where the Radvila princes set up some schools (the Reformers were deprived of a right to establish higher schools in Lithuania). Extant books from the library of the Slutsk Gymnasium shed light on how books in various scholarly disciplines were registered, classified, and marked. After the World War I, the library was returned to Vilnius, where it continued to be looked after, there were attempts to compile and publish its catalogue. In 1940, when Lithuania was annexed by the Soviet Union, the Vilnius Evangelical Reformer Synod was terminated, and its library was given over to the Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, an institution established on the basis of the former Wroblewski Library. The war Soviet Union with Nazi Germany, which started on June 22, 1941, became an obstacle to the integration of the Synod library. There is no evidence as to how it was stored and handled during the war. During the retreat of the German army from Vilnius in July 1944, the building of the Synod library in Pylimo Street burned down (perhaps, it was set on fire intentionally). Information spread that the library had perished, therefore the books that had been saved in some way and emerged afterwards, were given over to various libraries, in spite of the fact that they were supposed to have been transferred to the Library of the Academy of Sciences. 320 items have been discovered in the holdings of the Rare Books Department. 126 of them constitute just three composite sets. Most of the extant publications are on religious topics and reflect the development of the Reformation. The majority of the documents are in Latin. Very few historical and fiction books are extant. However, that which remains makes it possible to grasp some realities of the 17th-century life and thus represents interesting and valuable heritage. The aim of this article is to appreciate the fact that though the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) is taken to be one denomination, the independence of the synods has made it to appear as if there are actually five denominations. By tracing the similarities and differences of the synods from their genesis it becomes quite clear that diversity outweighs unity in the CCAP. From a theological point of view we see that some of the differences are there because of different theological emphases, especially due to traditions of the mother churches that gave birth to the synods. Regarding political issues, it has been seen that the geographical and cultural contexts in which the synods are situated do contribute to the synods’ perspectives on pertinent issues, as they cannot be taken to be operating in a vacuum. These observations therefore underscore the fact that the five synods’ unity under the General Assembly is that of a loose federation rather than an organic one.

The XVI General Synod of Bishops takes place in an unprecedented manner up to now and at unprecedented stages so far. It is realized not only in the Vatican but in every particular Church on the five continents. For the first time in the history of the Church, the synod is being held in a decentralized manner. The reality of communion-community, but also participation and mission, are constitutive for the Church. It must simply be said that communion is synodal or it is not present at all. It sounds like a slogan, but its meaning is precise: synodality is the Church’s most participant form of communion. In walking together of the People of God with their shepherds, in a synodal process in which all participate, each according to his function, reciprocity of entities is established which under the guidance of the Holy Spirit lead the Church of Christ forward.

In the 19 th century commonly there were retreats and meetings of the clergy in deaneries. The Apostolic See, synods and bishops regularized the style of their being conducted. In the principality of Warsaw Kingdom the regulations laid down by Cardinal Maciejewski in the year 1601 were those essentially binding. In the course of these meetings of the clergy of the Diocese of Augustów or of Sejny, there was greatly felt the impact of the statutes of the Synod of Plock in the year 1733, and the decrees of Bishop Poniatowski of Plock given at the end of the 18 th century. After the January uprising the civil authorities restricted the taking place of retreats and meetings. Retreats lasted five or three days and had a totally prayerful character. The local dean led them. There were separate groups for pastors and for their curates. With the retreats was conjoined the juridical right to hear confessions in the following year. On the day prior to the retreats, the priests took examinations on previously determined theological subjects. The retreats primarily took place in monasteries. The fundamental goal of the meetings was the continued instruction of the parish clergy. During the portion of the meeting dedicated to prayer one Holy Mass was offered for the deceased priests of one’s deanery, and a second to the Holy Spirit. T he faithful at this time went to confession and listened to the homilies. In the second portion of the meetings, only clergy took part. The clergy presented researched papers on theological questions and likewise evaluated their activities and discussed current pastoral problems. The meetings lasted one day and took place successively in their various parishes.

The theological climate of the young Church of anglo-Saxon Christians was determined by Irish and Welsh monks maintaining the tradition of the Egyptian desert. The angles and Saxons had a particular vision of the natural world, of the eternal world, a particular comprehension of sin and repentance. rome in its missionary work used them to attach the British Christians the see of St Peter. Britain had no original link with the culture and tradition of the classical Church. It has been particularly established and enforced in VII and VIII, when England received a great dose of classical learning and theology due to the activity of archbishop of Canterbury Theodore and monk Hadrian. The formerly Greek monk Theodore – well learned in the Holy Scripture as well as Greek and Latin classics – was named the archbishop of Canterbury by pope Vitalian under the condition that he should not introduce any typically Greek customs. Theodore named Hadrian the abbot of the Canterbury monastery of St Peter. There and in york young English could pursue classical studies of the Holy Scriptures, poetry, philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, etc. It resulted in significant literary development in Britain, of which venerable Bede is an example.Theodore introduced in Canterbury proto-byzantine canonical law, during two famous synods established doctrinal and ecclesiastical foundations of English Christianity based on ancient orthodox tradition of Eastern part of the mediterranean region. at the Synod of Hatfield, with the other bishops, Theodore confirmed the Nicean Creed, five former ecumenical councils and the generally accepted Church Fathers. They worked also on practical church unity, that is established: common date of Easter with other parts of Christian world, non-intervention of bishops in other dioceses, canonical laws regulating the attitude of bishops towards monastic communities and the decrees against monophysis monks coming from Persia.

The fond of the Chief Prosecutor of the Holy Synod in the Russian State Historical Archive contains a file “On the transformation of the Jerusalem Ecclesiastical Mission into a priorate at the consulate in Jerusalem.” The file has not yet attracted the researchers’ attention; its materials have not been published. The documents dated 1878–79 clarify the events that led to liquidation of the Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem in 1879, Chancellor A. M. Gorchakov’s report to Alexander II of February 13, 1879, in particular. The resolution on the document shows that the report was approved by the emperor. The Spiritual Mission was transformed into a priorate at the consular church in Jerusalem, and thus shut down. The decision was caused by long-term conflict between the Spiritual Mission and the consulate. Both institutions were subordinate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; its Palestinian Commission was in charge of building infrastructure for pilgrims. Their spheres of activities were not demarcated clearly, resulting in rivalry. The liquidation of the Mission was prompted by the fact that its head, Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin), acquired land in Palestine with donations sent from Russia. Among the documents there are letters of consul in Jerusalem N. A. Ilarionov and Ambassador to Constantinople A. B. Lobanov-Rostovsky. They shed light on the purchase of land in Palestine by Archimandrite Antoninus. The land procurements were made in the name of a Turkish citizen, an employee of the Spiritual Mission Yakov Halebi, which could have resulted in serious legal and political problems. Antonin ignored all requests of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Holy Synod to straighten out the land title. The consulate had no control over the lands acquired by Antonin, and could not force the archimandrite to transfer them to the Russian government. It was decided to resolve the conflict between the two institutions by lowering the status of the Mission. The project was drafted at the Palestinian Commission with the B. P. Mansurov’s participation. The Holy Synod was notified of the liquidation of the Spiritual Mission when the decision was approved by the emperor. Another important document in the file is a letter from Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin) to A.S. Norov dated January 10, 1879. The letter informed of the upcoming liquidation of the Spiritual Mission. This letter was handed over by Norov to the Empress Maria Alexandrovna and reported to the Chief Procurator of the Holy Synod. However, this did not prevent the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from transforming the Mission into a priorate. Until 1881, the Mission was titled priorate in all documents. The efforts of the future founders of the Orthodox Palestinian Society, E.V. Putyatin, K.P. Pobedonostsev, and V. N. Khitrovo, managed to halter and, later, to cancel the decision.

This study evaluated the effectiveness of the youth programs offered by the youth ministry department in character formation in the Methodist Church in Kenya- Kaaga Synod. Bandura’s social learning theory led this study from a sociological point of view. During the study, descriptive Formats were used to collect, analyse, compare and interpret the data. The study targeted five circuits in Kaaga Synod, Meru County The study used random samples to select churches. A sample of youth church members was selected using the proportionate sampling technique. Targeted samples were used for selecting church ministers, youth ministers and church chairpersons as key informants because of their accurate knowledge of church youth issues. The researcher used questionnaires, interview schedules, and focus group discussions to gather the necessary information. Discussions, as well as tables, were used to collect and analyse the data. The findings of this study contributed to the knowledge of religion and morality. The outcome of this study is also beneficial to participants who are policymakers and designers, parents and educators in their efforts to promote youth morals.

The article identifies the first editions of works by Metropolitan Dimitry of Rostov, published both in his lifetime and immediately after his death and canonization. The author of the article has shown that the Metropolitan’s sermons were not published in his lifetime for a number of reasons. The first publication of Dimitry’s oratorical works was made upon an initiative of a private person – Y. A. Tatishchev (1729–1806), who approached the Most Holy Governing Synod in 1782 with a request to publish these sermons at his own expense. A publication called Collection of Various Instructive Tales and Other Works by Saint Metropolitan Dimitry, the Thaumaturge of Rostov appeared in 1786. The present article also contains biographical details on Tatishchev, which the author has managed to collect from manuscript and printed sources; it also analyses the archival documents kept in the Russian State Historical Archive,St. Petersburg, where Tatishchev’s correspondence with the Synod pertaining to the publication of Dimitry’s sermons can be found. As it follows from the documents, the sermons in the publication were edited, with the majority of the corrections being due to the normalization of the Church Slavonic orthography. However, the first editors and censors also recognized the authorship of all the sermons and works that Tatishchev had sent to the Synod. At the same time, in modern “Dimitry studies” the problem of the attribution of Dimitry’s works is one of the most topical issues. The article gives a critical analysis of the first publication of the sermons and shows that among the publication’s 94 sermons attributed to Dimitry of Rostov two sermons belong to Stefan Yavorsky, five sermons are written by Symeon of Polotsk, and the attribution of another nine sermons needs further study.

This article considers a perceived gap between Church of England House of Bishops’ statements on human identity, sexuality and gender, and the outlook of many congregations. It does this under five headings suggested by a brief study of St John Henry Newman’s On Consulting the Faithful in Matters of Doctrine. Topics are the bishops’ teaching responsibilities, how doctrinal consultation works in the Church of England, the tendency to prioritise church unity and the role of formation and of emotion. It concludes that the Church of England’s protracted conversations on sexuality should be resolved in a General Synod debate on equal marriage.

AbstractContemporary Russian scholars usually try to abstain from any criticism to Russian Orthodox Church' actions in past and present. Meanwhile a situation in 1917 was very confused: the Holy Synod supported the abdication of its formal head – the Tsar. So historians discussed: what it was – "revolutionary Church" or "revolution inside Church"? One of them insists that bishops become "liberals", another argue that they operated accordingly old religious canons. In reality the full scale revolution inside Church took place: believers tried to overthrow the "reactionary" and "counterrevolutionary" bishops and priests as "serfs of old regime", rank and file clergy supported them.

Despite the fact that the so-called “Five Points of Calvinism” are based on the five main points of the Canons of Dordt, it is misleading to assume that these five points are drawn directly from Calvin. The documents of the Synod of Dordt rarely refer to any theological source, including Calvin. However, a comparison of Calvin and the Canons suggests that Calvin was a probable influence on the Canons on the issue of double predestination and a possible influence on the themes of the universal call of the gospel, human depravity, efficacious grace, and perseverance. But Calvin was an unlikely influence on the Canons’ infralapsarian stance and on its formulations regarding negative-positive reprobation, particular grace, and the sufficient-efficient distinction. These latter issues became formulated in a more precise manner after Calvin, so later Reformed theologians were more likely influences. In sum, Calvin’s influence on the Canons could only have been moderate.

This file contains correspondence on specific issues as well as various flyers, brochures, newspaper articles, posters, announcements, reports, statements, notes with the characteristics of various aspects of Orthodox history and covers the time period from 1924 to 1936. Articles from the Newspapers Zarya, Gong Bao as well as a spiritual magazine Bread heavenly, etc. deal with the key issues of the transition of the Chinese clergy under the control of the Synod of bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church outside of Russia under the canonical jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate, etc. Unfortunately, despite the considerable interest in the history of Russian emigration in the second quarter of the 20th century in China, as well as in the history of Orthodoxy in the country, the documents of this file have not been widely known, although they are the supplement of the little-known pages of Orthodox history.

Agro-climatic indicators (AgcIs) provide a suitable tool to evaluate the implications of climate change on agriculture by simplifying plant–climate interactions. However, developing reliable AgcIs requires high-quality historical climate datasets. Consequently, reanalysis products (RPs) are frequently used as a potential reference dataset for observed climate in agricultural studies. This study aims to compare five RPs (ERA5, ERA5-Land, SCOPE Climate, FYRE Climate, and RFHR) at reproducing observed AgcIs over France. The RPs are evaluated against the SYNOP meteorological data over the 1996–2012 period, focusing on six AgcIs specific to apple, maize, and vine crops. The findings show that RPs perform well in reproducing temperature-based AgcIs, with some slight discrepancies in areas with complex topography. However, all RPs tend to overestimate precipitation amounts and to underestimate dry days, leading to a poor performance in reproducing precipitation-based AgcIs. This study emphasizes the need for a thorough evaluation of the RPs in developing both temperature-based and precipitation-based AgcIs, especially if findings are intended to support operational agricultural decision-making.

Kedua permasalahan kota tersebut dapat diatasi dengan adanya Pengembangan kawasan TOD dan menjadi solusi dalam penyelesaian masalah tersebut karena sifatnya yang mengembangkan kawasan dengan transportasi berkelanjutan didukung dengan desain ramah pejalan kaki, tatanan lahan, dan pengawasan terhadap intensitas pemanfaatan ruangnya. Pengembangkan kawasan TOD membutuhkan pengidentifikasian terhadap kriteria pembangunnya, hasil identifikasi kemudian di optimalkan dengan membandingkannya dari standar kriteria kawasan TOD sebagai kebutuhan pengembangan kawasan TOD. Menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan proses analisis spasial dan optimasi dan dilakukan pada lima lokasi dalam Kota Tomohon yakni zona Terminal Beriman, zona Menara Alfa Omega, zona Alfamart Walian, zona Kantor Sinode GMIM, dan zona Alfmart Kinilow. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kriteria yang sudah di identifikasi sebelumnya masih memerlukan pengembangan. Kebutuhan pengembangan terbesar untuk jalur pejalan kaki berada pada zona Alfamart Kinilow dengan persentase 77%. Dalam intensitasnya, kebutuhan pengembangan KDB terbesar berada di zona Terminal Beriman pada blok tiga sebesar 59% dan KLB pada blok tiga dengan nilai 1.89. Dari kelima zona yang diteliti dalam kriteria penggunaan lahan campur, zona Terminal Beriman dan zona Kantor Sinode GMIM masih memiliki kebutuhan pengembangan pada kawasan residential sebesar 14% untuk zona Terminal Beriman dan 3% untuk zona Kantor Sinode GMIM dalam mencapai standar dari pengembangan kawasan TOD lingkungan di Kota Tomohon.Kata kunci: TOD; Transit Oriented Development; Transportasi; Analisis Spasial; SIG.AbstractCity congestion and the development of irregular urban areas are problems that often occur in cities in Indonesia, including the City of Tomohon. Both of these city problems can be overcome by developing TOD areas and being a solution to solving these problems because of their nature to develop areas with sustainable transportation supported by pedestrian-friendly designs, land arrangements, and monitoring of the intensity of spatial use. The development of the TOD area requires identification of the building criteria, the results of the identification are then optimized by comparing them with the standard criteria for the TOD area as the need for the development of the TOD area. Using a descriptive quantitative method with a process of spatial analysis and optimization and carried out at five locations within Tomohon City namely the Faith Terminal zone, the Alfa Omega Tower zone, the Walian Alfamart zone, the GMIM Synod Office zone, and the Alfmart Kinilow zone. The results of the research show that the criteria that have been previously identified still require development. The biggest development need for pedestrian paths is in the Alfamart Kinilow zone with a percentage of 77%. In terms of intensity, the greatest need for KDB development is in the Terminal Beriman zone in block three at 59% and KLB in block three with a value of 1.89. Of the five zones examined in the mixed land use criteria, the Beriman Terminal zone and the GMIM Synod Office zone still have development needs in residential areas of 14% for the Beriman Terminal zone and 3% for the GMIM Synod Office zone in achieving the standards of the development of the environmental TOD area in Tomohon City.Keyword: TOD; Transit Oriented Development; Transportation; Spatial Analysis; GIS

Examination and taxonomic review of the batfishes collected from New Zealand and adjacent waters reveals five nominal species: Halieutopsis bathyoreos and Malthopsis mitrigera are recorded from New Zealand for the first time; the synon-ymy of Halieutaea maoria with H. stellata is confirmed, and two new species are described. Malthopsis asparata sp. nov. is unique in having stout principal bucklers with prominent spines. Malthopsis parva sp. nov. differs from congeners in having a naked abdomen, a short rostral spine directed upward, and all principal bucklers blunt.

The Reformed Churches in South Africa and “women in office”: 1994-2016The discussion of the inclusion of women in die offices of minister and elder has become an increasingly burning and dividing issue in the Reformed Churches in South Africa (Gereformeerde Kerke in Suid-Afrika) over the past five decades. Since 1973 until 2016 various Synods of this denomination have struggled with the topic by way of several intensive study reports, which resulted in many decisions on hermeneutical and exegetical grounds. A first article dealt with the history of the case as it developed from 1973-1988.[1] It was concluded that the Synods in this period did not consider the issue sufficiently in light of a biblical-theological hermeneutical perspective. This article deals with the period 1994-2016. The purpose of this on-going research is to identify the reasons for the continuous decisions, in this period also, not to include women in the particular offices in this denomination. As was the case in the first article, the central theoretical argument of this study is that the hermeneutical approaches of the various Synods in the period 1994-2012 also displayed a significant shortcoming. This shortcoming is the constant neglect of the important role of systematic biblical-theological testimony and a biblical anthropology as fundamental hermeneutical tools. These tools were not applied proficiently because they were obscured by a one-sided grammatical-historical angle of approach to certain parts of Scripture. This hermeneutical deficiency lies at the heart of the prohibition of women in the offices of elder and minister.[1] Vorster, J.M. 2016. Until the 19th century they were the main canonical and pastoral reference for the Church’s hierarchy in Brazil. AbstractThe archives of the town of Kampen in Overijssel (the Netherlands) contain an early 17th-century manuscript by an unknown author. The manuscript is about an ecclesiastical conflict in the period preceding the Synod of Dort (1618-1619). The document might be related to peace efforts as also made by Hugo Grotius in the dispute between Remonstrants and Contraremonstrants. The author does not aim at a doctrinal decision or strict definition, but at accommodation and tolerance. The idea of an evangelical-Lutheran contribution to solve the party conflict in order to reach a conciliation between Lutherans and Reformed also strikes one as 'Grotiaans'. Another feature which makes this document look like the efforts of Grotius is the link between political and ecclesiastical peace. People should accept each other as citizens, despite their religious differences. The document contains a couple of indications which provide a profile of the author. This profile is applied to the border province of Overijssel, with concentration on the town of Kampen. The author may have been the headmaster of a Latin School. In 1617, this school in Kampen was run by Marcus Gualtherus, a scholar from Weinheim in the Lower Palatinate, near Heidelberg. He studied at Heidelberg. His scholarship, his Palatine origin, his many-sided contacts, all this corresponds with features of the treatise. The author shows familiarity with theological issues within the Lutheran Church in Germany. In his proposal, the five articles of the Remonstrants should be approached with the help of the Palatine experience. The writer of the treatise refers to the 16th-century Lutheran creeds and reformers like Luther, Bucer and Zwingli. He indicates the important role of the CA in achieving unity among Lutherans in Germany. This confession is quoted repeatedly as a model for the Protestants in the Netherlands. At the synod a final draft could be formulated with the aid of the Book of Concord. A final text might be endorsed by all evangelical churches. With the acceptance of this document upon which all parties agree, a general concordia of the whole of evangelical Christendom will have been established.

Breast cancer (BC) is globally the most frequent cancer in women. Adherence to endocrine therapy (ET) in hormone-receptor-positive BC patients is active and voluntary for the first five years after diagnosis. This study examines the impact of adherence to ET on 10-year excess mortality (EM) in patients diagnosed with Stages I to III BC (N = 2297). Since sample size is an issue for estimating age- and stage-specific survival indicators, we developed a method, ComSynSurData, for generating a large synthetic dataset (SynD) through probabilistic graphical modeling of the original cohort. We derived population-based survival indicators using a Bayesian relative survival model fitted to the SynD. Our modeling showed that hormone-receptor-positive BC patients diagnosed beyond 49 years of age at Stage I or beyond 59 years at Stage II do not have 10-year EM if they follow the prescribed ET regimen. This result calls for developing interventions to promote adherence to ET in patients with hormone receptor-positive BC and in turn improving cancer survival. The presented methodology here demonstrates the potential use of probabilistic graphical modeling for generating reliable synthetic datasets for validating population-based survival indicators when sample size is an issue.

Abstract. We present the first extended validation of a new SYNERGY global aerosol product (SY_2_AOD), which is based on synergistic use of data from the Ocean and Land Color Instrument (OLCI) and the Sea and Land Surface Temperature Radiometer (SLSTR) sensors aboard the Copernicus Sentinel-3A (S3A) and Sentinel-3B (S3B) satellites. Validation covers period from 14 January 2020 to 30 September 2021. Several approaches, including statistical analysis, time series analysis, and comparison with similar aerosol products from the other spaceborne sensor, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), were applied for validation and evaluation of S3A and S3B SY_2 aerosol products, including aerosol optical depth (AOD) provided at different wavelengths, AOD pixel-level uncertainties, fine-mode AOD, and Angström exponent. Over ocean, the performance of SY_2 AOD (syAOD) retrieved at 550 nm is good: for S3A and S3B, Pearson correlation coefficients with the Maritime Aerosol Network (MAN) component of the AErosol RObotic NETwork (AERONET) are 0.88 and 0.85, respectively; 88.6 % and 89.5 % of pixels fit into the MODIS error envelope (EE) of ±0.05 ± 0.2 × AOD. Over land, correlation coefficients with AERONET AOD (aAOD) are 0.60 and 0.63 for S3A and S3B, respectively; 51.4 % and 57.9 % of pixels fit into MODIS EE. Reduced performance over land is expected since the surface reflectance and angular distribution of scattering are higher and more difficult to predict over land than over ocean. The results are affected by a large number of outliers. Evaluation of the per-retrieval uncertainty with the χ2 test indicates that syAOD prognostic uncertainties (PU) are slightly underestimated (χ2 = 3.1); if outliers are removed, PU describes the syAOD error well (χ2 = 1.6). The regional analysis of the Angström exponent, which relates to the aerosol size distribution, shows spatial correlation with expected sources. For 40 % of the matchups with AERONET in the Northern Hemisphere (NH) and for 60 % of the matchups in the Southern Hemisphere (SH), which fit into the AE size range of [1, 1.8], an offset between SY_2 AE (syAE) and AERONET AE (aAE) is within ±0.25. General overestimation of low (< 0.5) syAE and underestimation of high (> 1.8) syAE results in high (0.94, globally) overall bias. Good agreement (bias < 0.03) was observed between Sy_2 fine-mode AOD (syFMAOD) and AERONET fine-mode AOD (aFMAOD) for aFMAOD < 1. At aFMAOD > 1, syFMAOD is considerably underestimated (by 0.3–0.5 in different aFMAOD ranges) in the NH. In the SH, only a few aFMAOD values above 1 are measured. The fine-mode fraction (FMF) in the SY_2 AOD product (syFMF) in the range of [0, 0.7] is overestimated; the positive offset of 0.3–0.5 for low (< 0.25) FMF gradually decreases. Differences between the annual and seasonal AOD values from SY_2 and MODIS (mod) Dark Target and Deep Blue products are within 0.02 for the study area (30∘ S–60∘ N, 80∘ W–45∘ E). The agreement is better over ocean; however, a difference up to 0.6 exists between syFMF and modFMF. Over bright land surface (Saharan desert) the difference in AOD between the two products is highest (up to 0.11); the sign of the difference varies over time and space. For both S3A and S3B AOD products, validation statistics are often slightly better in the Southern Hemisphere. In general, the performance of S3B is slightly better.

In the German church elections of July 1933, prominent liberal Protestants in the state of Thuringia gave their support to the Deutsche Christen (German Christians), a pro-Nazi faction that sought to establish a uniquely “German” form of Christianity based on “blood” and “race.” At first glance, this development might suggest an affinity between liberal Protestant theology and völkisch (racist-populist) conceptions of Christianity. However, a closer examination of events leading up to this decision reveals that pragmatic and strategic considerations were at least as important as ideology. Although liberal Protestant leaders ultimately determined that cooperation with the Deutsche Christen was necessary, they did so reluctantly, and only after they were convinced that other options had been exhausted. This article examines church-political alignments in Thuringia during the Weimar and early Nazi eras, with an emphasis on the aims and priorities of the Volkskirchenbund (People's Church League), a liberal Protestant faction in the Thuringian regional synod. It traces the decision-making processes behind the events of 1933, the motives and perceptions of key players, and diverse responses of leaders as well as rank and file members. Their story illustrates one of the more complicated paths toward Christian complicity in the Third Reich.

After the Second Vatican Council, the Chilean bishops met in a plenary assembly during May 1968. As a result, the Episcopal Conference of Chile developed its first Pastoral Orientations (POs). Between 1968 and 1985, the Chilean Bishops produced eight different iterations of the POs. The ongoing development of the POs during this period reflected an emerging consensus across the various dioceses of the county. Five aspects of the POs in particular helped develop a synodal culture: (1) to reform the Church, (2) to establish the Church as an evangelizer and servant of humanity, (3) to opt for the base ecclesial communities as the local realization of the People of God, (4), to carry out the liturgical reform and diocesan synods, and (5) to develop intermediate forms of collegiality among the bishops.

The method used in this study is the waterfall development method which consists of five stages, namely need identification, system design, preparation of program code, program testing, and program implementation. Further during the creation of the program using Visual Studio Code, Laravel Framework 10, PHP and using XAMPP as a database. From these checks, it is known that the website is functioning as it should. The web-based Logbook Information System at the Class I Geophysical Station Deli Serdang provides convenience and efficiency for employees who carry out services.

The study aims to (1) analyze the spatiotemporal patterns of grassland fire and dust weather in the past 22 years, as well as the effect of grassland fire on dust weather and to (2) explore in depth the mechanisms of the effects of grassland fire on dust weather. To achieve these goals, we utilize high-resolution satellite burned-area data and Synop dust data. In general, grassland fire and dust weather occurrence clearly varied spatiotemporally across the study area. Grassland fires are typically more frequent in spring and autumn, and dust weather is mainly concentrated in spring. Cumulative grassland fires (both days and burned area) from autumn to the following spring affected the spring cumulative dust weather days significantly, especially the spring cumulative dust storm days. Analysis of the mechanism of the effect of grassland fire on dust storms showed that abundant summer precipitation resulted in higher vegetation cover and more accumulated fuel from autumn to April of the following spring. Consequently, the cumulative grassland fire days were higher, and the cumulative burned area was larger during the period, leading to a significant increase in cumulative dust storm days in May of the spring. In Mongolia, grassland fires are often caused by human factors. The findings of the present study could facilitate the crafting of measures to prevent and reduce grassland fires and indirectly minimize dust weather frequency to protect the ecological environment and promote sustainable development.

This article consists of five parts on equality within faith communities. First, the focus is on the creation of human beings as the image of God on an equal basis. The premise is that LGBTQIA+ people are created as human beings in the image of God, deserving to be welcomed in faith communities. Second, the article focuses on the way in which missionaries have taught African converts to interpret the Bible on many serious human rights issues. Third, the position of the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa (URCSA) is discussed, utilising the contents of the General Synods, spanning from Pietermaritzburg (2005) to Stellenbosch (2022). Fourth, this study reflects on the challenges faced by denominations who accept LGBTQIA+ people regarding marriage and their ordination. The challenge seems to be about the fundamental reading of the Bible, confession, and Church Order articles, which are discussed here. Fifth, recommendations are proposed to address this inequality. This article is approached from an anthropological-missional viewpoint when addressing this inequality within communities of faith.

Abstract The dies natalis papae has received little attention in the previous literature. This is not the actual birthday of the Roman chief pastor, but the anniversary of his consecration as bishop. Explicit evidence of this has been available since the second half of the 4th century (Damasus I), mainly in letters. However, the recording of the exact consecration dates since the 250s suggests that the day was also celebrated earlier. In any case, it is certain that the dies natalis papae was celebrated as a festival of joy and gratitude for the (albeit undeservedly conferred) Petrine office. Numerous bishops from all over Italy are invited to attend, and, if necessary, these gatherings can also be used for synods. While Leo I regularly exploits this opportunity to preach – five „Sermones“ have survived, after all – 150 years later Gregory the Great flatly rejects the celebration as „superfluous vanity“ and instead refers to the „birthday celebration“ of St. Peter himself. The Roman „Liber Diurnus“ has its own forms of epistolary „invitatoria in natale papae“ as well as „excusatoria quando episcopus infirmatur“, and the sacramentaries of this time contain models for the celebration, i. e. „Orationes in natale papae“ or „in natale episcoporum“.

Recent examinations of camallanid nematodes (Camallanidae) from marine fishes off New Caledonia, collected in the years 2003–2011, revealed the presence of the following five new species of Procamallanus Baylis, 1923, all belonging to the subgenus Spirocamallanus Olsen, 1952: Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) dispar n. sp. from the common ponyfish Leiognathus equulus (type host) and the striped ponyfish Aurigequula fasciata (both Leiognathidae, Perciformes); Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) bothi n. sp. from the leopard flounder Bothus pantherinus (Bothidae, Pleuronectiformes); Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) hexophtalmatis n. sp. from the speckled sandperch Parapercis hexophtalma (Pinguipedidae, Perciformes); Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) synodi n. sp. from the sand lizardfish Synodus dermatogenys (Synodontidae, Aulopiformes); and Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) thalassomatis n. sp. from the yellow-brown wrasse Thalassoma lutescens (Labridae, Perciformes). These are described based on light and scanning electron microscopical (SEM) studies. An additional three congeneric nematodes unidentifiable to species are reported from perciform fishes and a shark: Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. 3 of Moravec et al., 2006, Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. 1, and Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. 2. Ten fish species are recorded as new hosts for Camallanus carangis Olsen, 1954. Two camallanids, Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. 3 (subgravid female) and Camallanus carangis (fourth-stage larva) were also found in the digestive tract of the New Caledonian sea krait Laticauda saintgironsi, serving apparently as postcyclic and paratenic hosts, respectively, for these fish nematodes.

Фигурантами данного дела, проходившего с 19 ноября 1734 г. по 30 января 1735 г., являлись: арестанты Ларион Еремеев и насельник Трифонова монастыря Вятской епархии архимандрит Александр (Максимов), начальник караула ефрейтор Ингерманландского пехотного полка Еремей Таширев и два караульных солдата Какуев Алексей и Егор Михайлов. Доносчиком по «слову и делу» на архимандрита Александра и ефрейтора Таширева выступил Ларион Еремеев, два караульных солдата А. Какуев и Е. Михайлов стали свидетелями по данному делу. В статье подробно рассмотрен весь ход судебного процесса, начиная от самого доноса Еремеева Синоду, который впоследствии и передал это дело в ведение Тайной канцелярии, где к допрашиваемым применялись пытки и угрозы, выносились жестокие приговоры. Также в статье представлена общая характеристика архивного дела, проведен анализ спорных действий некоторых его фигурантов. This article is a transcript of the archival file concerning the investigation into the «Word and Deed of the Sovereign» (a common title for political cases) of the Secret Office during the reign of Empress Anna Ioannovna. This case, which was investigated from November 19, 1734 to January 30, 1735. Persons involved: the prisoners Archimandrite Alexander (Maksimov) of St. Tryphon’s monastery, Vyatka diocese, and Larion Yeremeev; Head of Guard, Yefreytor (or Lance-Corporal) of the Ingermanland Infantry Regiment, Yeremey Tashirev; two guard soldiers, Alexey Kakuyev and Yegor Mikhailov. Larion Eremeev acted as an informer on the «Word and Deed» against Archimandrite Alexander and Yeremey Tashirev, while two guard soldiers A. Kakuev and Ye. Mikhailov became witnesses in this case. The article describes in detail the entire course of the trial, starting from the very denunciation of Yeremeyev to the Synod, which later transferred this case to the Secret Office where torture and threat were used, and cruel sentences were passed. The article also provides a general description of the archival case, analyzing the controversial actions of some persons involved.

On January 21, 1727, the Irkutsk Diocese was established. Its opening was the result of Orthodoxy in spread in Eastern Siberia, which began in the 17th century. Irkutsk became the center of a new diocese. In 1727, there were 8 churches and 2 monasteries, while the city was developing dynamically while being the administrative center. In 1822, it included the territory of the Yenisei Province. The easternmost diocese of Russia turned out to be the largest in terms of territory – about 10 million square kilometers, occupying more than half of the entire territory of the country and extending over two continents. In 1826, the diocese was transferred from the 3rd grade to the 2nd grade, and its bishop became the archbishop. In the future, all the lords (church leaders) received the same rank, sometimes not immediately. An important event in its history was the canonization by the Synod in December 1804 of the first bishop Innokenty Kulchitsky. The most famous in Eastern Siberia was the Ascension Monastery, which became the spiritual center of the diocese. There were four churches, a chapel, a hotel, a school, cell buildings, and outbuildings. The high bell tower, the five-domed Ascension Cathedral, and other churches and buildings were distinguished by their beauty and richness. Dramatic events of the early twentieth century forced the Irkutsk clergy to take part in social and political life. In the emerging multi-party system, they relied on right-wing and centrist political parties. Under the Soviet regime, the Irkutsk diocese, as well as the Orthodox Church as a whole, was targeted by a wave of repressions (purges). The attitude of the state to religion began to change in the conditions of perestroika. This allowed the Orthodox Church to receive a powerful impetus for its development. The result of this was the establishment of the Irkutsk Metropolis, which included the Irkutsk, Bratsk and Sayan dioceses.

The article offers a source study of the report of bishop of Omsk Arkady to Metropolitan of Nizhny Novgorod Sergius and the Holy Synod made in 1929. The text analysis allows to address the problem of relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Soviet authorities. The report, which is published here, allows to follow the sequence of territorial redistribution of the Omsk diocese in 1920s. The problem of its authorship is considered. Having studied a copy of the report in the archival investigative file stored in the archive of the Federal Security Service of Russia Directorate for the Omsk Region, the author establishes that the document was prepared by Archpriest V.F. Infatiev, leader of the Omsk Tikhonovtsy and rector of the Fraternal Church in Omsk. Biographical and historical–genetic methods have been of most use in the research. Biographical method allows to study the document in connection with life and activities of its authors. The historical genetic method, based on materials of the Omsk diocese, shows how the Soviet state used the administrative redistribution of dioceses to obstruct church administration. It sought to fragment and weaken large dioceses that were fighting new church schism. The article reveals the specifics of administrative and territorial reorganization in the Omsk diocese, which boundaries kept changing for a variety of reasons. First, the Soviet power had not forgotten that Omsk of the capital of White Russia, and Novonikolaevsk (Novosibirsk) was made capital of Soviet Siberia. Reconstruction of diocesan borders in accordance with new Soviet administrative–territorial division disrupted traditional church administration. Some cities still gravitated towards Omsk, but over time they were separated from the Omsk diocese. Secondly, the Bolsheviks provoked and supported the inter-church struggle for power, in which many church leaders were then actively involved. This resulted in separation of a number of territories from the Omsk diocese. Thirdly, while the Kyrgyz (Kazakh) republic was being formed and developed, some of its large cities were subordinate to Omsk. The work may be of interest to researchers studying Russian society in the pre–war period, history of the Russian Orthodox Church, and activities of the Soviet Special Services concerning religious institutions.

Many historians believe that Russia became a great power either as a result of the Poltava victory in 1709, or after the Nystadt Peace of 1721. It is difficult to agree with this. Peter the Great’s rule indeed produced a combat-ready regular army, a guard, an officer corps, a navy with shipyards, military bases, and coastal artillery. There was an upsurge in the metallurgical industry and mining. Schools with high-quality military and secular education, the Academy of Sciences, the Senate, and the Synod were established. St. Petersburg was founded. Talented and enterprising individuals were promoted to military, diplomatic and administrative posts. The main factor in the rise of the state was military modernization. The main geopolitical achievement of Peter I was the conquest of full access to the Baltic Sea. However, a limited resource base, military and diplomatic defeats and setbacks did not allow Russia to rise to the rank of a great power. The disasters of Narva in 1700 and on the Prut River in 1711 were painful. Russia lost access to the Sea of Azov, the city of Azov, city of Taganrog, the Azov squadron, shipyards and shipbuilding in the Voronezh Territory were lost. The damage from three treatises with the Ottomans in 1711-1713 was great. Russia has lost all of Zaporozhye. The demarcation of the borders of 1714 threw Russia back several hundred kilometers from the Black Sea region. In 1719, the Russian military force was squeezed out of Central Europe – from Mecklenburg. The sphere of influence of Russia after the victorious Peace of Nystad in 1721 was established only in Northern and Eastern Europe – in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Swedish and Danish-Norwegian kingdom, partly in Prussia. The tsar had no claims to hegemony in Europe and no claims to join the circle of the then great powers. Russia was not a great power like the Habsburg monarchy, France, Great Britain, and the Eurasian-African Ottoman Empire. Russia could not compare with the great powers of that time neither in terms of economic (industrial, financial) power, nor in terms of the intensity of expansionism. The entry of the Russian Empire into the system of international relations as one of the five great powers – France, Great Britain, Austria, Prussia, and Russia – occurred during the Seven Years War of 1756-1763. Another rise to great power took place during the reign of Catherine II. The apogee of greatness and the culmination of Russia's influence on European affairs was the Congress of Vienna in 1814-1815.

The most important contribution made by Archbishop James Ussher to the ecclesiastical developments of the Interregnum and Restoration periods was his short tract The Reduction of Episcopacy Unto the Form of Synodical Government. Printed only after his death in 1656, its combination of ministerial synods with episcopal rule was seen as a basis for presbyterian-episcopal reconciliation over the next three decades. The tract was printed in five editions during the later 1650s, and came out in two more editions in 1679, when the Popish Plot and the calling of a new Parliament revived hopes that dissenters could be comprehended within the Church of England. It was printed once more in 1689, in Edinburgh, when “comprehension” was again being hotly debated in both England and Scotland. By that time Ussher's name had come to symbolize such “limited” or “primitive” episcopacy, and indeed it has continued to do so among twentieth-century historians.The fame of the Reduction rests upon its content and authorship. Although the tract was only one of many such compromises offered during the Interregnum, it was the most radical to come from the royalist and Anglican side during that period. Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of all Ireland, Ussher was admired and respected by radical puritans and major Laudian spokesmen such as Henry Hammond and Bishop John Bramhall. The power of Ussher's name in this context was shown in 1685, when the nonconformist divine and politician Richard Baxter was on trial for allegedly making a printed attack against the king and the bishops. When Baxter's attorney, Sir Henry Pollexfen, sought to introduce as evidence one of Baxter's own printed compromises between episcopal and presbyterian government, Lord Chief Justice George Jeffreys replied, “I will see none of his books; it is for primitive Episcopacy, I will warrant you — a bishop in every parish.” In replying “Nay, my lord, it is the same with Archbishop Usher's,” Pollexfen indicated both the radical nature of the Reduction and the legitimacy that Ussher's name lent to other compromises of this kind.

Information about a confidence level of provided physical quantities is required to construct an error budget of higher-level products and to correctly interpret final results of a particular analysis. Regarding the generation of products based on satellite data a common input consists of a cloud mask which allows discrimination between surface and cloud signals. Further the surface information is divided between snow and snow-free components. At any step of this discrimination process a misclassification in a cloud/snow mask propagates to higher-level products and may alter their usability. Within this scope a novel probabilistic cloud mask (PCM) algorithm suited for the 1 km × 1 km Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) data is proposed which provides three types of probability estimates between: cloudy/clear-sky, cloudy/snow and clear-sky/snow conditions. As opposed to the majority of available techniques which are usually based on the decision-tree approach in the PCM algorithm all spectral, angular and ancillary information is used in a single step to retrieve probability estimates from the precomputed look-up tables (LUTs). Moreover, the issue of derivation of a single threshold value for a spectral test was overcome by the concept of multidimensional information space which is divided into small bins by an extensive set of intervals. The discrimination between snow and ice clouds and detection of broken, thin clouds was enhanced by means of the invariant coordinate system (ICS) transformation. The study area covers a wide range of environmental conditions spanning from Iceland through central Europe to northern parts of Africa which exhibit diverse difficulties for cloud/snow masking algorithms. The retrieved PCM cloud classification was compared to the Polar Platform System (PPS) version 2012 and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) collection 6 cloud masks, SYNOP (surface synoptic observations) weather reports, Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations (CALIPSO) vertical feature mask version 3 and to MODIS collection 5 snow mask. The outcomes of conducted analyses proved fine detection skills of the PCM method with results comparable to or better than the reference PPS algorithm.

Background:Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) are a group of rare diseases consisting on immune-mediated muscle damage. About 40 to 60% show specific-myositis antibodies; aditionally, 20-40% can show myositis-related (non-specific) antibodies. The profile of antibodies can help to divide patients into subgroups with more homogeneous clinical characteristics and prognosis.Objectives:This study characterizes patients with IIM with specific or related anti-myositis antibodies, in five hospitals in the Alicante health area.Methods:This is an observational study, carried out in five hospitals with a reference population of 1.083.463 people. Patients with positive anti-myositis antibodies between October 2015 and May 2018 were selected from the database of the Clinical Laboratory of the University Hospital of Alicante. We considered the following antiboides: anti-myositis specific antibodies (anti-TIF1y, anti-MDA5, anti-Mi-2, anti-PmScl75, anti-PMScl100, anti-NXP2, anti-SRP), anti-synthetase antibodies (anti-PL7, anti-PL12, anti-Jo1, anti-OJ), myositis-related antibodies (anti-Ro52, anti-Ku). Clinical records were examined, identifying those patients with a diagnosis of IIM acording to their clinician, rheumatologist. Epidemiological and clinical data were obtained.Results:291 patients with positive anti-myositis antibodies were identified. Among them, 40 patients had a diagnosis of IIM. Median age was 59.5 (IQR 41.5, 70) years and 68% were women. Within the subgroups, the most frequent diagnosis were dermatomyositis (n=22; 55%) and polimyositis (n=9; 22%). The most common antibody detected was anti-TIF-y among specific antibodies, and anti-Jo-1 among the anti-synthetase antibodies. The most common extramuscular feature was skin involvement. The presence of interstitial lung disease was reported in about one third of patients, being UIP the most commong pattern. Regarding treatment, the use of steroids was generalized; methotrexate was the most used inmunosupresant agent. How the Grundtvig Society was foundedA paper read by Henning Høirup to the Annual Conference of the GS on 15th January 1988This paper was given close to the fortieth anniversary of the date when the GS made itself known to the public with a press notice announcing its foundation at a meeting, held at Vartov on 13th January 1948 when the Society was formally constituted. The notice includes the names of the fifteen founder members. The reason why the GS has nevertheless insisted on 8th September 1947 as the date of its foundation is given by Bishop Høirup in this paper. The latter date is the correct one, and the place where the GS was founded is the episcopal residence at Ribe, but the six founders (who had come together at a meeting of Grundtvig scholars) agreed to widen the circle so as to include nine co-founders who were present at the meeting on 13th January 1948.Concurring with Albeck Høirup maintains that the renewed interest in Grundtvig began in the Thirties when the literary historian Georg Christensen had completed Svend Grundtvig’s edition of his father’s Poetiske Skrifter, which had come to a standstill after the Editor’s death in 1889. Approximately at the same time the Haandbog i N. F. S. Grundtvig’s Skrifier by Ernst J. Borup and Fr. Schrøder was published. It was also the time of appearance of Edvard Lehmann’s book on Grundtvig in Swedish with a Danish version following later on. All this occured about ten years earlier than the so-called Grundtvig Renaissance launched by Hal Kochs university lectures on Grundtvig in 1940.However, to Høirup the most important event in the Thirties was the appearance of the eleventh edition of the song-book of the folk high school with the scores for tunes by Carl Nielsen, Thomas Laub and Thorvald Aagaard, which gave new life to Grundtvig’s songs and hymns. Høirup’s pastor colleague of the adjacent parish in Funen, Kaj Thaning at Asperup, had started a card index on main concepts in Grundtvig’s work, and the two clerics got permission to take out Grundtvig mss. on loan pledging that they would keep the invaluable fascicles in the fire-proof safes of their vicarages. Bishop Hans .llgaard of Odense supported research on Grundtvig’s theology as when he convened a working synod of his diocese in 1946, where both Thaning and H.irup presented results of the research projects that led to their doctoral dissertations. At the Royal Library in Copenhagen Høirup met other Grundtvig scholars, Steen Johansen, William Michelsen and Helge Toldberg. In September 1947 those three and Høirup came to Ribe to meet Bishop C. I. Scharling and Villiam Grønbæk, the Diocesan Dean, both known as “High Church” men. But all misgivings about them were soon laid aside. Scharling was able to present his book on “Grundtvig and Romanticism”, that appeared in the same year. At this meeting the idea to set up a society for the advancement of cooperation in research and in the editing of documentary scholarly editions of Grundtvig’s writings was discussed along with a proposal from Bishop Øllgaard that a future yearbook be called Grundtvig-Studier. On the following day, Grundtvig’s birthday, regulations were drafted, just as it was agreed to widen the circle so as to include Bishop Øllgaard and Professor Poul Andersen and Hal Koch, as well as the literary historians Gustav Albeck, Georg Christensen and Magnus Stevns. Helge Toldberg was appointed Secretary and Høirup himself Editor of Grundtvig-Studier. The meeting at Ribe was not convened with the foundation of the GS as its aim. The resolve tofound it grew out of a feeling of the value that working together would entail. The proposed co-founders were all in favour and were joined by Pastor Balslev of Vartov. At the meeting at Vartov, where the Society was constituted, Bishop Scharling was elected President. When he died in 1951, Ernst J. Borup, the Warden of Vartov, rightly said that thanks to Scharling the Society “had been taken beyond the limitations of the partisan dominance to which it might otherwise have been confined.” The circle of co-founders were further augmented with Kaj Thaning and Holger Kjær, a folk high school teacher. An invitation to membership was issued, and at the first annual conference in 1948 the membership stood at 333. At the conference Magnus Stevns lectured on “The Kingo Hymn and Grundtvig”, though he was already hampered by the disease that was to bring him to his grave shortly afterwards.After some remarks about the activities of the Society over the past forty years Høirup pointed out that new scholars constantly have come forward including undergraduates, as those who wrote most of the chapters in the book “For the Sake of Continuity” (1977), which was published as a double-volume of Grundtvig Studier.The 1988 volume of Grundtvig Studier opens with an obituary on P. G. Lindhardt. He was a professor of ecclesiastical history in the University of Aarhus and a member of the Committee of the GS from 1956. He is the author of a biography of Grundtvig in English and contributed an article “Some Light Thrown on Grundtvig’s Trip to England in 1843” to Kirkehistoriske Samlinger 1972. He made an edition of Grundtvig’s sermons 1854-56 with a commentary (1974-1977). His monumental scholarly work was chiefly concerned with the rise of the revivalist movements in the 19th century. The obituarist is J. H . Schjørring, D.D ., who was elected a member of the Commitee of the GS in 1988.The Grundtvig Manuscript .Fragen aus Dänemark an die Universitäten Deutscher Zunge., an unpublished fragment lodged in the Grundtvig Archives of the Royal Library in Copenhagen (fasc. 168), dates from the period 1816-1820. It contains an appeal to the professors of German universities that they offer themselves to the German princes as intermediaries between these and their subjects in setting up constitutional rules of government after the Vienna Conference 1815-1816. As the situation changed, when the writer August von Kotzebue was murdered on 23. March 1819, the manuscript was probably written shortly before this date.

Abstract The first comprehensive molecular phylogeny of Pipunculidae (Diptera) is inferred from analyses of 6963 bp of DNA sequence data from the following five loci: cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI), cytochrome b (Cytb), 12S ribosomal DNA, carbamoyl phosphate synthetase region of CAD (CAD) and alanyl-tRNA synthetase (AATS). The monophyly of Pipunculidae and most known subfamilies, including Chalarinae, Nephrocerinae, Pipunculinae and Protonephrocerinae, are well supported, as are most existing generic concepts. Molecular analysis reveals that Nephrocerinae, either with or without Protonephrocerinae, depending on analytical method, is sister to the rest of the family. Within Pipunculinae, Cephalopsini is synonymized with Pipunculini (synon. nov.) and Eudorylini with Tomosvaryellini (synon. nov.), leaving Pipunculinae with three tribes: Microcephalopsini, Pipunculini and Tomosvaryellini. Jassidophaga is proposed as a synonym of Verrallia (synon. nov.). Beckerias, Cephalops s.s., Cephalosphaera s.s., Neocephalosphaera, Parabeckerias and Semicephalops are all raised to generic status (stat. nov.). Eudorylas fusculus and E. vineti are transferred to Clistoabdominalis (comb. nov.) and Clistoabdominalis ruralis and C. doczkali to Eudorylas (comb. nov.). We provide evidence for four new genera of Pipunculidae, one of which is described herein (Tricosus gen. nov.; Australia: New South Wales, contains two new combinations, Tricosus cyclohirtus and Tricosus anorhaebus).

Therese Lysaught revisits the Journal of Moral Theology’s initial rationale as articulated by founding editor David Matzko McCarthy. While that vision has developed over the intervening decade, many of his inaugural insights continue to shape our work. She then turns to documents produced by Pope Francis and the Synod on Synodality in Fall 2023, distilling five key themes and highlighting points of alignment with the Journal of Moral Theology. She closes with an overview of the current issue, suggesting how a dozen years later, the Journal of Moral Theology’s vision has matured and expanded, advancing what we might now call a synodal moral theology.

This article examines the influence of the Reformation of the 16th century on the Church Orders of two South African Reformed Churches, namely the Dutch Reformed Church and the Reformed Churches in South Africa. The five so-called solas, namely sola gratia [by grace alone], sola scriptura [by Scripture alone], sola fidei [by faith alone], solus christus [Christ alone] and soli Deo gloria [glory to God alone], are widely accepted as key expressions of the convictions of the Reformation. Although not necessarily in the same terms, the content of the solas are also found in the thought of Calvin. These matters influenced the Synod of Dordrecht (1618–1619) in its acceptance of the Three Formulas of Unity as reformed confessions of faith and its affirmation of the Dordt Church Order. The said South African churches accept the Three Formulas of Unity as confessions of faith and view their church orders as a modern version of the Dordt Church Order – adapted to the demands of the time. This article mainly examines the consequences of sola scriptura and sola fidei on the church orders of the two churches. In terms of these two solas, both have traces of the Reformation after 500 years.

Abstract The teenagers of Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa (GMIM) are the next church’s generation who are transitioning from sunday school group to youth. In their activities, music education exists as a medium of appreciation and development of creativity. This paper discusses about the process of music education in GMIM which acts as a education creativity for teenagers. The purpose of this research is to understand and explain how music education is realized as a medium of developing creativity for GMIM teenagers. This research uses qualitative method, with data collected by observation, interviews and document studies. The data analysis uses appreciation and creation concept in art education, by following the interactive model analysis. The results showed that GMIM teenagers were directly involved in the appreciation process through the their activities in congregation, regional and synod level, which were dominated by musical activities. The process of appreciation is implemented into five phase, that starting from introduction to assessment. Stand on the appreciation activites, GMIM teenagers did the development of creativity, through the preparation, conceptualizing ideas and pouring creative ideas.
