The thesis discusses the analysis of DSP-based multilevel-inverter with novel SVPWM technique powered by the photovoltaic energy. The complete system consists of a novel ZVT charge and discharge converter and a multilevel inverter with novel SVPWM techniques. The capabilities of this system involve the maximum power point tracking (MPPT), zero voltage transition (ZVT), the battery charge and discharge to balance the power system, and the multilevel output of inverter. In the novel ZVT charge and discharge converter, it reduces some element to save the cost and does not influence the normal operation. This topology can make the maximum power point tracking, and the main switch also has the capability of ZVT to minimize the loss caused by the transition of the switch. By the way, the energy transformed from the switch could be transferred to the battery and recharge the battery. The battery could also be charged and discharged to achieve the energy balance of the system. In the part of multilevel inverter, in accordance with the characteristics of topologies and photovoltaic cells, which could produce a bulk of separate dc sources, the “Cascade” frame is chosen and utilized as the dc-ac inverter. As for PWM techniques, some common PWM techniques applied to three-phase multilevel inverter are explained. Nevertheless, for the single-phase multilevel inverter, these SVPWM techniques for the three-phase inverter are not applicable; therefore this thesis proposes novel SVPWM techniques for the single-phase multilevel inverter to expect to have the superior performance. The realization of all the above-mentioned functions uses TI Company’s TMS320LF2407A digit signal processor to integrate the complete system.
