It is complex and difficult to tune the parameters of the flight controller. To solve such problem, a multiple objective decision making (MODM) method by using the reference model which is built based on the criteria, is proposed. In order to resolve defects of the multiple attribute decision making (MADM) that the arbitrary of the subjective attribute weights and ignoring the objective message of the objective attribute weights, a subjective attribute weights based on the BP neural network by using the MIV (mean impact value) index is proposed. Finally, a combining method based on the TOPSIS is used to give the final attribute weights. The simulation results show that the method could obtain a set of trade-off solutions which satisfy the requirements of the MODM and could tune the controller effectively.

This paper presented the scenario of the IDCTMV Human-Machine Ergonomics test system with the programming idea of the modularization. Based on LabVIEW, the IDCTMV simulated test software and subjective evaluation software were designed and developed. The subjective evaluation results and operation performance data including the reaction time of crews, the rate of errors, and the rate of over reports were tested by the simulation of the integrated display and control terminal for the typical operation procedure, which solved the problems of lacking test methods for the study of the IDCTMV Human-Machine Ergonomics.

In this article, a design scheme of automatic carrier landing system control law based on combination of the objective risk and the subjective risk is proposed, in order to improve the safety and flying quality of the landing. The nonlinear longitudinal mathematical model is constructed in the air wake turbulence condition during carrier landing, which is transformed into a linear perturbed model by the state-space equations with deviation state variables. The concepts of the objective risk and the subjective risk in the recovery of an aircraft aboard a carrier are addressed. A principle of predicting the future states based on the current ones is put forward so that a mathematic model for the objective risk is established, synthetically considering the current and future landing state deviations. For the other risk, the corresponding model is obtained by the subjective experiences of the pilots in the flight simulation tests. Furthermore, a novel model predictive control algorithm, which contains the additional subjective risk and the time-varying weights of the state terms, is proposed. Automatic carrier landing control law is built by introducing the objective risk, the subjective risk, and the effect of carrier air wake disturbance. In the rolling optimization progress, these time-varying weights are dynamically tuned according to the constantly changing objective risk to control the state deviations and suppress this risk, while the subjective risk is handled by the additional risk terms. Besides, the action of carrier air wake disturbance is considered and compensated in the derivation of the linear matrix inequalities. Test results based on a semi-physical simulation platform indicate that the new automatic carrier landing system control algorithm proposed by this article brings about an excellent carrier landing performance as well as an improved flying quality.

ABSTRACT I empirically investigate the impact of an organization's creativity dependency on the design of its incentive system. In firms for which the primary source of value creation is the creativity of core employees, the designs of incentive systems are particularly challenging. The nature of creative work constrains the feasibility of extrinsic incentives, but at the same time creates a need for them. Accordingly, there is concern that the use of incentives renders people not creative enough, but a lack of incentives makes employees “too creative.” I argue that a solution to this dilemma is the acknowledgment that the decision to use performance-based pay is not made in isolation, but as part of a set of complementary choices. I theoretically argue and empirically show that subjective evaluations of non-task-related performance and performance-based pay are complements in a creativity-dependent setting. I further argue that the intense use of both control mechanisms is the incentive system that best accommodates the control requirements of creativity-dependent firms, and show that the likelihood of choosing this system increases with the creativity dependency.

The object of this paper is to give a g guide for designing the human-robot collaborative control system attaching importance to maneuverability of the operator. The operative ""feel"" is quantitatively evaluated using the norm of input-output signal obtained from the sensors during operation. As an example of the human-robot collaborative system, the subjective operative ""feel"" of the operator is qualitatively analyzed during the sine wave following task using 1-link operation arm. In addition, the control performance of the operator is examined from the viewpoint of H∞ control using the measurement data during the collaborative operation. As a result, it was suggested that the operator executes the given task while adequately reforming the sensitivity function and complementary sensitivity function of the closed loop system of the collaborative system. Use of this method enables design of the control system taking into consideration the operative ""feel"" of maneuverability.

Checklists are a critical component of most any military operation and both the construction of and presentation of checklists can affect the performance and efficiency of these operations. The purpose of this research project is to compare methods for displaying and executing checklists in a command and control operation to increase both performance and efficiency. The NORAD/NORTHCOM Command Center (N2C2) uses a paper checklist system to facilitate responding to any number of disasters, to include air catastrophes. This project investigated the potential effectiveness of a digital system that could take the place of the paper system that is currently being used. A between groups experimental design was used to analyze the relative effectiveness of each method. Each group of subjects was introduced to a timed task on different checklist systems and asked to complete an Air Force Academy Command Center checklist as accurately and as quickly as possible. Performance and subjective assessments of each system were analyzed and compared. The data showed that a linear digital checklist takes a longer amount of time than both a paper checklist and hierarchical digital checklist. In addition, the subjective data showed that the hierarchical system and paper system were easier to use and navigate than the linear system.

In-vehicle voice control systems are standard in most new vehicles. However, despite auditory-vocal interaction allowing drivers to keep their hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the forward roadway, recent findings indicate the potential for these systems to increase levels of workload and lead to lengthy interaction times. Although many studies have examined the distraction potential of interacting with in-vehicle voice control systems, more research is needed to understand the relationship between different system design components and workload. In this study, we investigate the role of system delay, system accuracy, and menu depth in determining the overall level of demand and interaction times on eight different 2017 model-year vehicles. Voice system accuracy was measured via playback of a pre-recorded sample of voice commands through a studio monitor mounted near the headrest. Menu depth and system delay were calculated by measuring, respectively, the number of interaction steps and total system processing time required to access common infotainment functions. These measures were validated through linear and multiple regression analyses with workload and task time collected in an on-road study. We found system delay and system accuracy to be significant predictors of task time and subjective measures of workload from the NASA Task Load Index and the Driving Activity Load Index. A In addition to providing valuable information on the role of separate voice control system design components on resulting levels of workload, these results extend past research by generalizing findings to multiple current auditory-vocal systems.

It is a domestic demand nowadays that people have a pet, plants, and kids or elders at home that must look after on. Sometimes, it is hard to tell if they are living in an appropriate environment where they feel comfortable. That would be troublesome when people go to work or have a vacation, leaving them at home alone. Also, some of the aspects are subjective and difficult to quantify, especially humidity and temperature. In order to reflect the surrounding environment accurately and intuitively, a pet-sitter system is implemented. In this design, the use of high reliability of the Microprogrammed Control Unit (MCU) as the processing core, to improve the pet environment of temperature and humidity, and light to achieve the function of the sub-function design. The main functions of the design include the collection, display, automatic control, and adjustment of temperature and humidity illumination. For the selection of equipment, with the goal of running stability and cost performance, the corresponding equipment is selected, and the final realization of temperature, humidity, and light regulation.

In order to promote the idling noise quality of a single-cylinder gasoline engine, this paper addresses sound source identification and noise control research. The noise was identified by the application of subjective evaluation, acoustic spectrum and sound intensity analysis. It was found that the noise was caused by the anomalous dynamic performance of the timing system under idling conditions. Furthermore, sound and vibration characteristics of timing system were improved by design methodology research of key components. A multi-body dynamic model was established to characterize dynamic characteristics of the timing system under idling conditions. The key factor of producing noise was that the fluctuation of contact force between the chain and guide and transverse displacement of the chain were much higher than those of the allowable design limit. For the lowest design alternation and manufacturing costs, the work analyzed six timing system improvement schemes obtained by cross combination of tensioner blade line and guide strip radian parameters. After that, the optimal design scheme which could improve dynamic performance parameters of the timing system was derived. The design scheme was conducted with a acoustic test of engine to derive the following results. The noise level of a single-cylinder engine under idling conditions decreased by 3 dB(A). The abnormal noise of the original engine was eliminated under subjective evaluation. The sound quality under other working conditions had no apparent deterioration. Research shows that guide and tensioner blade line optimization design could improve dynamic performance of the timing chain system to eliminate abnormal noise, thereby significantly improving the acoustic characteristic of a single-cylinder engine.

AbstractThis paper presents the development of a rotorcraft conceptual design tool able to incorporate handling qualities assessment at an early design stage. After a first conventional sizing, performed utilizing NASA’s NDARC software, a linearized model of the rotorcraft flight mechanics is built. The linear model is augmented by a simplified control system, designed according to structured $$H_{\infty }$$ H ∞ techniques, to determine augmentation requirements, rather than design the actual flight control system. ADS-33 Bandwidth and Phase-Delay standards are exploited to objectively assess the handling qualities of the current design and to drive an iterative redesign process aimed at enhancing the handling qualities ratings. The rotorcraft parameters resulting from the augmented sizing are subsequently used to automatically generate a real-time capable multibody model, which can be used for the subjective evaluation of its handling qualities via piloted flight simulation. The tool capabilities are demonstrated by designing a conventional lightweight helicopter of the class of the Airbus Helicopters BO105.

This work discusses the application of techniques serving the purpose of prediction and detection of unfavorable man-machine interactions. Prediction criteria of Pilot Induced Oscillations (PIO) were applied during design process of experimental multi-modal fly-by-wire control system for small light aircraft. Estimated PIO susceptibility was further verified during real-time simulations and flight tests. The verification process included subjective pilot/operator expert opinions and the results obtained from the automatic detectors, used for the PIO identification in long sets of recorded data. The general idea of the detection algorithms is based on the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). These are being presented in this paper in a form of detection applications along with the results of the flight experiments.

Intimate to the functioning and behavior of intelligent systems is the manner in which information is represented internally. The conventional approach to intelligent system design assumes a particular bias in the manner by which this information is represented. Typically, this is characterized by an "abstract" or "objective" design methodology which holds that intelligence is not a function of the physical nature of the system. Such an approach suffers from several shortcomings, most notably problems relating to scaling and complexity. Recent physiological research, however, has demonstrated that physical bodily form is a fundamental building block in the organization of mammalian cortical structures. Consequently, this article explores such a biologically motivated "subjective" or "egocentric" approach to system design, and demonstrates its utility in a simple robot arm control problem.

In the process of machining, the operator’s incorrect operation using the control human-computer interaction interface may lead to a disastrous effect on the whole production chain such as task failure and system failure. The eight types of using errors about human-computer interaction interface system (misperception, memory lapse, carelessness, improper decision-making, improper operation, improper interface layout design, improper icon and text display design, and improper prompt feedback) are proposed based on the cognition from users. According to the eight types of using error, the human reliability and safety evaluation method is proposed. Considering the variability objective and uncertainty subjective factors in the human-machine interaction process, the human reliability evaluation method is proposed based on objective and subjective comprehensive weighting under ergonomic principles. Firstly, based on the investigation of relevant machine tool interface design, the comprehensive evaluation index system for man-machine reliability of complex interface design is established. Secondly, an objective and subjective comprehensive weight assignment method as the composition of Theilʼs entropy weight method combined with TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution) and improved AHP (analytic hierarchy process) method combined with fuzzy mathematics is proposed. It can not only effectively avoid the impact of excessive subjective factors on empowerment but also fully excavate the real information in the survey data and improve the objectivity and accuracy of the weight data of evaluation indicators at all levels. Thirdly, taking the interface design of CNC machine tool equipment for example, the best human-computer interaction interface design schemes are chosen according to the human reliability evaluation method based on objective and subjective comprehensive method calculated by Entropy-TOPSIS-AHP. Finally, based on eye movement experiments, the use efficiency and accuracy of the human-computer interaction interface design scheme chosen by the assessment method are better than the other design schemes or original one to verify the assessment method validity.

Organizations have found that traditional ways of business respond no longer to new environmental conditions and have decided to put aside their traditional ways by capitalizing on new opportunities resulting from growth and development of information technology, reconsider their activities and design them efficiently. The law of value added tax (VAT) after being passed from 23 September 2008 and by utilizing capabilities of information and communication technology (ICT), by establishing internet system for carrying out electronic interactions between citizens (taxpayers of this tax system) and the Government has been implemented. One serious challenge facing these organizations is awareness of factors that play an effective role in acceptance of users of these systems. Using inferential statistical methods and by collecting questionnaire information in a sample comprising 299 tax payer (users of first stage of VAT system in Islamic Republic of Iran, Markazi province) which forms statistical society of this study and by employing mental norms factors and perceived behavioral control from theory of planned behavior (TPB), this study determines acceptance factors of this system on the part of users. Results from analysis of data in determining degree of significance level and Spearman Correlation Coefficient to test the hypotheses, factors of External Influence, Interpersonal Influence, Self-Efficacy, and facilitating Condition, are identified.

The acoustic design of auditoria involves the specification of the room geometry and boundary properties, and any additional acoustic elements such as reflectors or diffusers, to usefully direct sound to produce a desired subjective experience, quantified by measurable acoustic parameters. This design must take into account the reflection of sound within the stage area, the early reflections from the stage to the audience and the reverberant response of the room. The sound produced by the audience can also be an important consideration. Active acoustic systems provide an alternative approach to controlling subjective experience. They use microphones, electronic processors and loudspeakers to create reflections and reverberation in addition to those produced by the naturally-occurring sound field. The acoustic properties can be changed instantly, and the enhanced acoustic properties of the auditorium can typically be varied over a wider range than can be produced by variable passive techniques. The design of active acoustics follows that of passive approaches, but rather than the physical arrangement of the room surfaces, it commences with an existing passive space with some minimum acoustic condition, and requires the arrangement of microphones to detect relevant sound and the choice of processors and loudspeaker positions to direct it usefully back into the room to produce a desired set of acoustic parameters. While active systems have historically been developed with the goal of enhancing either the stage or audience sound, they must generally provide the same control of sound as passive acoustic design. This paper discusses the principles of active acoustic systems and how they are used to achieve the required range of control. A survey of current commercial systems is given and some implications for the future of live performance are explored.

The prevalence of unique, disparate satellite command and control (SATC2) systems in current satellite operations is problematic. As such, the United States Air Force aims to consolidate SATC2 systems into an enterprise solution that utilizes a common Human–Machine Interface (HMI). We employed a User-Centered Design (UCD) approach including a variety of methods from design thinking and human factors engineering to develop a solution that is effective, efficient, and meets operator needs. During a summative test event, we found that users had significantly higher situation awareness, lower workload, and higher subjective usability while using the HMI developed via UCD over the existing, or legacy, HMI. This case study serves as evidence to support the assertion that involving users early and often has positive and tangible effects on the development of aerospace systems.

Analyzing the history of design is helpful in creating the computer numerical control turret design. Knowledge acquired from reasonably organizing and reusing designs may contribute to establishing computer numerical control turret design tasks. This article presents the results of our study on the representation and reuse of computer numerical control turret design knowledge and highlights the application of a case-based reasoning method in the structure design of a computer numerical control turret. The primary step in case-based reasoning systems is case retrieval where the similarity measure plays a significant role. The objective of this study is to develop a new method for a hybrid similarity measure with five formats of attribute values: crisp symbols, crisp numbers, fuzzy numbers, fuzzy linguistic variables, and fuzzy intervals. First, a hybrid similarity measure for a mixture of crisp and fuzzy sets is proposed for retrieving cases. Subsequently, a synthesis weight is formed through the combination of the subjective weight and objective weight. The calculation formula of the global similarity, which can retrieve the proper historical case, can be established by combining the hybrid similarity measure and the synthesis weight measure accordingly. Finally, the hybrid similarity measure and weight assignment method were applied in a computer numerical control turret conceptual design case-based reasoning system. The results showed that the global similarity of these five attribute types and the distribution of weight coefficients could improve the accuracy of case retrieval, which would help designers achieve the goal of rapid design.

AbstractResponding to growing concerns regarding energy-efficient facades, this paper describes the structure and process followed in the design of a responsive sun-shading system based on the use of rotating plates with two degrees of freedom. The proposal considers, among others, the definition of variable design parameters, areas of performance evaluation and control, and construction detailing development represented by a first 1:2 unit (module) model. In the process, computational simulation procedures were employed to explore configurational possibilities that would provide high-performance solutions to the light requirements of the particular covered spaces. In developing the system, it was noticed that due to the highly subjective requirements of users in terms of quantity and quality of lighting, a purely Boolean control system would not always be appropriate. Following from that, and taking advantage of the dynamic nature of the system, a further approach of control supported by fuzzy logic was also implemented at the operative state, whose logic is explained. Digital simulations were carried out to assess the performance of the system, and their results demonstrate more even light distribution levels compared to traditional systems.

In order to meet the needs of people for the environment, physical, and psychological needs and to improve the characteristics of local areas, this paper proposes an urban environment measurement method based on wearable sensors. This method mainly relies on the previous questionnaire and tests the wearable sensor physiological data, subjective feelings, scoring tables, interviews, and other experimental methods in the psychological experimental environment. The recognition rate without adding association features was 93.3%, while the recognition rate of adding association features to individual test set verification reached 94.1%, an increase of about 1%. In this paper, naive Bayes and associated feature classification are used to effectively solve the influence of personal subjective factors and make up for the error of measurement data. The wearable sensor can achieve better results in the application of urban environmental measurement and can also be better applied in urban environmental landscape design, providing more effective data for urban landscape design.

This article presents safe ship control optimization design for navigator advisory system. Optimal safe ship control is presented as multistage decision-making in a fuzzy environment and as multistep decision-making in a game environment. The navigator’s subjective and the maneuvering parameters are taken under consideration in the model process. A computer simulation of fuzzy neural anticollision (FNAC) and matrix game anticollision (MGAC) algorithms was carried out on MATLAB software on an example of the real navigational situation of passing three encountered ships in the Skagerrak Strait, in good and restricted visibility at sea. The developed solution can be applied in decision-support systems on board a ship.

This is a case study about noise and vibration control problems, and the design constraints and solutions for a proposed installation of a magnetic resonance imaging system (MRI) in an existing medical research facility. Manufacturer's data indicated that airborne sound level emissions over a broad frequency span could exceed permissible noise criteria for nearby occupied rooms. The building structure also required reinforcement to accommodate the MRI magnet's concentrated load, but invasive disturbance to a transgenic research mouse vivarium on the floor below was prohibited. The structure borne vibration paths needed attenuation or isolation. Design parameters included structural strength, stiffness and the specific platform resonant frequency (non-coincident with known vibration sources or building structure). In addition, acoustical containment was required for anticipated noises from the magnet room, to prevent excessive or annoying and distracting noise in the MRI control room or other adjacent (but unrelated) research, animal holding and office spaces. Structural “de-tuning” and architectural “decoupling” concepts were employed. A resonant frequency criterion was recommended for the new structural floor design. A combination of vibration spectrum analysis, dynamic analyses of alternate structural concepts and existing physical conflict constraints led to the design of an independent platform floor above the existing building floor. Post construction floor vibration measurements were compared to earlier measurement data to show quantitative change in performance. The modifications satisfied acoustical criteria and occupants' subjective evaluations.

Purpose – This paper aims to present a methodology for the mapping and evaluation of suppliers’ competencies and know-how. The authors operationalize the concept of organizational competence and provide companies with a customized management tool to map suppliers’ critical competencies for screening strategic from non-strategic suppliers and providing inputs for suppliers’ development. Design/methodology/approach – Competencies assessment, carried out through a fuzzy knowledge management system (VINCI), is performed through the aggregation of indicators related to the control of critical resources, the degree of implementation of critical processes, the competitive positioning and the financial situation of a supplier. Competencies description and operationalization are based on the bottom-up elicitation of the subjective knowledge managers actually use to assess suppliers’ capability. Such subjective knowledge is then validated and formalized through a top-down approach based on strategic literature. Findings – The authors tested VINCI on a sample of 38 suppliers of a large company. The results show that the methodology provides its users with a highly customizable knowledge map and its associated decision support tool that keeps into account the peculiar strategic needs of the company in the management of an existing portfolio of suppliers. Practical implications – VINCI outcomes can be used to perform benchmarking analyses, define entry criteria and thresholds for suppliers’, identify improvement targets and service levels to be considered in the definition of supply contracts, supporting the alignment of supplier’s management with business strategy. Originality/value – The most important original contribution of this work resides in the operationalization and measurements of firms’ competencies based on the elicitation of subjective knowledge that managers use in the actual assessment. A further distinctive feature of this paper is that the method is applied to small and medium companies, whereas large part of the literature on core or organizational competencies assessment is focused on large companies.

Due to the complexity of the car running condition, the differences of the subjective intention of the driver, and Continuously Variable Transmission control system itself existed nonlinear, time delay, interference, variable parameter factors, the traditional control arithmetic based on scale model is hard to meet the clutch control requirements. This article through to design the drive mechanism of the dry friction clutch on a new, without hydraulic pump, pure electronic control car continuously variable transmission, and analyze its mechanical properties and control target, the clutch control model was established, according to the fuzzy control theory, driving experience and developers’ technical experience, the corresponding fuzzy language rules were formed, and intelligent control of the clutch on the single-chip control system was realized. At present, the pure electronic control continuously variable transmission has been tested on the experimental bench and car operation, and has passed the inspection by the national vehicle quality supervision and inspection center (Chongqing) and the identification by China Machinery Industry Federation .

Bridge health monitoring system (BHMS) is a package of technologies for structural monitoring, control, maintenance and management. Making use of the fusion of technologies from different disciplines, such as sensing, communication, signal processing, system identification, etc., the system is empowered to simultaneously get all kinds of information which reflect the safety conditions of bridge structure, and provide scientific proof for the analysis of bridge health. The assessment method is the core of the BHMS. In the conventional assessment procedure, there is significant influence of subjective factors involved. A feasibility study on the use of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method in the bridge condition assessment is presented in this paper. The applications of fuzzy mathematics in condition assessment of bridges were discussed. Based on the research of present methods, analytical hierarchy process and fuzzy mathematics were integrated and applied in condition assessment of the project of main roads bridge Online Safety Monitoring Management System in Hangzhou (Phase II), a web-based urban bridge cluster monitoring system have been established. From a continuous beam bridge case study, it is observed that the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is capable of simulating the bridge condition evaluation process and has a good application.

This study aimed to clarify the effect of Theory of Planned Behavior on the intentions use an online performance evaluation system (SPK). This research used a causal quantitative design. 40 police officers aged 30 years and a minimum working period of 10 years were involved in this research. Data were collected used questionnaire method and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that there were positive and significant influences from (1) attitudes toward intentions using online SPK, (2) subjective norms on intentions using online SPK, (3) perceived behavior control on intentions using SPK and (4) attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavior control of intentions using online SPK. This means that if want to increase intention to use SPK online, then the commander must ensure that members have a positive attitude, support each member to understand each other and teach and control themselves in using the SPK online.

Ship design today can be viewed as an ad hoc process. It must be considered in the context of integration with other design development activities, such as production, costing, quality control, and so forth. Otherwise, it is possible for the designer to design a ship that is difficult to produce, requires high material or labor cost, or contains some design flaws that the production engineers have to correct or send back for redesigning before production can be done. Any adjustment required after the design stage will result in a penalty of extra time or cost. Deficiencies in the design of a ship will influence the succeeding stages of production. In addition to designing a ship that fulfills producibility requirements, it is also desirable to design a ship that satisfies risk, performance, cost, and customer requirements criteria. More recently, environmental concerns, safety, passenger comfort, and life-cycle issues are becoming essential parts of the current shipbuilding industry. Therefore, "design for X paradigm" should also be considered during the ship design stages. An integrated multiple attributive decision support system for producibility evaluation in ship design (PRODEVIS) is developed to use by industry and researchers in evaluating the producibility of competing ship designs and design features during the early stages of ship design by taking into account cost, performance, risk, and "design for X paradigm" attributes. This developed approach is a fuzzy multiple attributive group decision-making methodology where feasible design alternatives are conducted by a ship production simulation technique. In this approach, an attribute-based aggregation technique for a heterogeneous group of experts is employed and used for dealing with fuzzy opinion aggregation for the subjective attributes of the ship design evaluation problem. The developed methodology is illustrated with a case study.

To realize the intelligent classroom learning, the intelligent seat can be applied to different sitting positions or different heights and weights. This paper designs a control system based on MC9S08DZ60 and realizes the communication between the control system and the mobile app by combining the Bluetooth module based on CSR8670. At the same time, this paper proposes an intelligent design that can adjust the seat height by voice. LD3320 speech recognition module is used for voice control, and a push rod motor with a rising speed of 7 mm/s is used to complete the lifting to meet the requirements of different sitting positions and different heights and weights. Then, the folding design of the intelligent seat for classroom learning is carried out. Infrared detectors are used at the armrests on both sides of the seat. When people have a tendency to sit down, they will speed up deployment. When a person leaves the seat, the seat will automatically retract. Finally, the objective evaluation method of pressure distribution test experiment is compared with the subjective scale evaluation of students, which verifies the effectiveness of the shape design of the chair in keeping students’ healthy sitting posture for a long time.

In order to improve the comfort and dynamic sense of the interior sound of PEVs when driving at a constant speed, this paper carried out research on the evaluation method of the interior sound quality of EVs and the development of an active sound generation system (ASGS). The investigation and research on the sound development trend of EV interiors were carried out. Combined with subjective evaluation methods and test results, a constant-speed vehicle interior sound design method was proposed, which focused on three dimensions: engine order composition, spectral energy distribution, and sound amplitude enhancement in the typical vehicle speed range. The internal sound spectrum of FVs was analyzed, and the engine order sound simulation analysis was completed. It is verified that the short-time Fourier transform and synthesis technology based on Kaiser window function can meet the requirements of engine order sound fitting accuracy. To formulate the sound design plan, control objectives and control methods of an A-class pure electric SUV with both comfort and dynamic sense during accelerated driving, the correlation between the engine order sound amplitude and dynamic sense in the vehicle was analyzed, and the setting of active sound parameters of EVs was clarified. The control hardware and software of ASGS in the vehicle was developed, the construction of ASGS based on the vehicle sound system completed, and test verification was conducted. The objective test of the real vehicle shows that ASGS ensures a low-amplitude interior noise level. When the vehicle speed is 28.6 km/h, the sharpness is reduced by 0.52 acum, and the subjective evaluation test of the real vehicle further verifies that ASGS can improve the comfort and dynamic sound quality of EVs driving at a constant speed.

In recent years, affective computing has emerged as a promising approach to studying user experience, replacing subjective methods that rely on participants’ self-evaluation. Affective computing uses biometrics to recognize people’s emotional states as they interact with a product. However, the cost of medical-grade biofeedback systems is prohibitive for researchers with limited budgets. An alternative solution is to use consumer-grade devices, which are more affordable. However, these devices require proprietary software to collect data, complicating data processing, synchronization, and integration. Additionally, researchers need multiple computers to control the biofeedback system, increasing equipment costs and complexity. To address these challenges, we developed a low-cost biofeedback platform using inexpensive hardware and open-source libraries. Our software can serve as a system development kit for future studies. We conducted a simple experiment with one participant to validate the platform’s effectiveness, using one baseline and two tasks that elicited distinct responses. Our low-cost biofeedback platform provides a reference architecture for researchers with limited budgets who wish to incorporate biometrics into their studies. This platform can be used to develop affective computing models in various domains, including ergonomics, human factors engineering, user experience, human behavioral studies, and human–robot interaction.

Abstract In recent years, there are still some defects in the risk management of China’s inspection and quarantine work, such as the omission of major factors in the conformity assessment of inbound and outbound commodities and the subjective and unscientific assignment of risk indicators, which affect the ability of risk monitoring. Therefore, this paper constructs an inspection and quarantine risk measurement model based on random forest algorithm, and develops a risk early warning system for inspection and quarantine business. Firstly, according to the target requirements, the training data set is extracted from the original rough data set, and the overall data is cleaned and modified. Secondly, the integrated machine learning model is used to select the feature values with better prediction ability. Then, the risk measurement model is constructed based on random forest algorithm and deployed in multi-model parallel mode. Finally, a complete risk early warning system is developed based on the risk prediction model. Through the operation of this system, the abilities of risk analysis and discrimination for inspection and quarantine have been greatly improved, and the comprehensiveness and accuracy of risk prevention and control have been effectively guaranteed.

To learn about the health care of athletes in the knee joint, real-time to monitor the health of the human knee joint according to the cloud. The system uses a depth camera to collect the data information of the human lower limb alignment and obtains the spatial coordinate position of the human lower limb alignment through deep learning; then analyzes and processes the video sequence of the human lower limb alignment, including the wavelet function decomposition of the lower limb alignment information and reconstruction, and finally, the monitoring results were obtained by the knee joint scoring method. The system has completed the design of software and hardware and realized the method of extracting the coordinate information of the main joint points of the human body based on neural network. The health monitoring algorithm finally obtained the knee joint health status of the subjects through the evaluation system. By comparing the real health status of the subjects, the reliability of this research work was verified. The experiment shows that the monitoring error of the system is less than 10%, and the overall error is only 6%. The KSS standard score of the subjects is consistent with the monitoring and evaluation of the system, and the score trend is basically the same. For the situation that the overall score of the system is lower than the KSS standard, after communication and analysis with orthopaedic experts. It is speculated that it may be due to the subjective estimation of the subjects when measuring KSS, and the system monitoring algorithm is relatively strict and more objective. It is proved that the system designed in this paper can effectively monitor the health of athletes’ knee joint.

Therefore, the paper proposes a carbon control model for the Energy Internet. This paper focuses on the characteristics of coal power with the largest carbon reduction. Therefore, this article constructs a multi-dimensional low-carbonization evaluation index system for coal-fired power plants. In addition, this article designs a fusion weight calculation method for subjective and objective indicators based on CRITIC-G1. Additionally, this paper uses the ideal solution–gray relational method to evaluate the specified samples. Finally, this article verifies the effectiveness and feasibility of the implementation of the low-carbonization evaluation index system for coal-fired power plants.

The quality of man-machine interface (MMI) directly affects efficiency, safety and comfort of the man-machine system. Therefore, it is significant to study an appropriate evaluation technology for MMI. The method of grey relational analysis based on interval numbers is put forward in the field of MMI evaluation in this paper, based on human thinking having the grey and fuzzy characteristic. In this method, interval numbers are employed as a mean to reflect the rating of indexes instead of real numbers, which offer uncertain information. By judging the correlative degree between the evaluation criterion and the design schemes, the optimal scheme can be found. Based on the proposed method, a novel subjective evaluation model of MMI is set up and applied in the subjective evaluation on the digital control system console of the power plant. Results of the evaluation example prove that the proposed method for MMI evaluation is reasonable and applicable.

Purpose This paper aims to examine the mediation role of behavioral intention in the relationship between attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control and knowledge sharing behavior. Design/methodology/approach The study adopted a cross-sectional design to collect data used to carry out mediation analysis. Structural equation modeling was used to test for the mediation effect based on the theory of planned behavior. Findings The results reveal positive and significant relationships between attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control and behavioral intention. There is a full mediation effect of behavioral intention between attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control and knowledge sharing behavior. This implies that behavioral intention wholly processes planned behavior prediction. Research limitations/implications The sample size was small, covering only two referral hospitals which affects the generalization of findings across all the hospitals in Uganda. The study was cross-sectional focusing on a one-off perception, which does not examine knowledge sharing behavior over time. This may necessitate follow-up studies in a longitudinal design to capture the trend of results. Practical implications Managers in referral hospitals should create opportunities for health professionals to enhance knowledge sharing behavior. Knowledge sharing practices should be embedded in the performance appraisal and reward systems which should promote positive knowledge sharing attitudes and norms and develop self-efficacy. Originality/value The study generates empirical evidence on less studied phenomena in the health sector focusing on behavioral intention mediation in predicting knowledge sharing behavior.

Анотація:
In order to solve the problem that violin performance evaluation is too subjective, this paper proposes a violin performance evaluation system based on mobile terminal technology. Violin sound evaluation mainly includes two indicators such as pronunciation quality and distance transmission ability. LabVIEW 8.2 is used to collect data, and fast Fourier transform (FFT) is used to analyze the time-domain signal in frequency domain, and the pronunciation process of violin is discussed in depth. Using statistical methods to process the test data of pronunciation distance transmission, a parameter model representing the pronunciation distance transmission ability is proposed, and finally the WeChat applet is used to control the recording and display. The results show that the process of violin sound production is accompanied by the weakening of octave peaks and the development of overtone peaks. The stable stage is marked by the stability of each octave peak and overtone peak. The sound head initially presents a simple excitation response, with only one near octave overtone and three cycles. Its maximum overtone peak/dominant frequency peak ratio coefficient is k = 0.36; the back entry complex excitation response has about nine cycles, with k = 0.735. Then enter the quasi-stable excitation response, whose waveform is similar to the typical A-string empty string pull waveform in the later stage, with k = 0.36; the maximum overtone peak/main frequency peak proportional coefficient is k = 0.39 in the rising section of the start, k = 0.2 in the loudest section, and k = 0.26 in the stable section. Conclusion. The system has initially established a new instrumented evaluation method, which provides a way of thinking for improving the quantifiable evaluation system in the future.

Purpose – The construction project is implemented under uncertainty environment, and the product of construction is very complex. Selecting a project delivery system/approach is a critical task, which determines the project schedule, quality and investment objectives. The purpose of this paper is to propose a decision-making model for the selection of project delivery system which is based on information entropy and unascertained measure model. Design/methodology/approach – A decision-making model based on information entropy and unascertained set is employed to select project delivery approach. In order to overcome the subjective evaluations from the experts, the theory of “entropy weight” is applied to modify the experts’ subjective weight. The multi-attribute unascertained measure decision making is fitted to deal with the uncertainty information for selection of project delivery system. Findings – The proposed methodology is more comprehensive compared with the previous work, especially in the uncertainty environment. Research limitations/implications – There is some further work that should be considered, such as how to deal with the imprecise and subjective information given by the experts; how to determine the weight of the experts’; finding a set of importance factors influencing the selection of a delivery system is a complex task to further research. Practical implications – The proposed method can help the construction owner to select a most fitted project delivery system of a construction project. Originality/value – A new approach to select project delivery approach is proposed based on information entropy and unascertained set.

<div><p><em>The present quantitative study adopts a between group design to assess the difference between interning doctors and practicing doctors </em><em>in the levels of Machiavellianism, aspirations, quality of life and subjective happiness. A correlational design was also employed to determine if quality of life and subjective happiness can be predicted by Machiavellianism and its dimensions of amorality, desire for status, desire for control and distrust of others; and aspirations and its dimensions of wealth, fame, image, personal growth, relationships, community, and health. Purposive Sampling and Snowball Sampling techniques were used to collect data from 100 interning and 100 practicing doctors. Independent t-test results showed that practicing doctors were significantly higher on Machiavellianism and its dimensions of amorality, desire for status and distrust of others; aspirations, its dimension of image, community, health, and physical quality of life. Interning doctors were higher on desire for control, fame aspirations, psychological health and overall quality of life. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that personal growth and health aspirations predicted quality of life in interning doctors and Machiavellianism, amorality; wealth, fame, image, community and health aspirations predicted quality of life among practicing doctors. Health aspiration was a predictor of subjective happiness in interning doctors. In practicing doctors, amorality, desire for status, distrust of others; wealth, fame, image, personal growth, relationships, community and health aspirations were predictors of subjective happiness. In present day India the rapidly changing and overburdened healthcare system has affected the well being of health care professionals and the present study throws light on to some factors that may influence quality of life and happiness of doctors in India. </em></p></div>

Measurement and evaluation of a human-machine interface is a difficult yet very important issue. The difficulty lies in that the issue is inherently a very subjective, and the importance is that the evaluation is part of design process for systems development. The purpose of evaluation is to see how an interface affects the operation of a human-machine control system in two aspects: the operator's mental workload and the performance in completing tasks. In this paper primarily the eye behaviors measure is discussed, together with some other measures, for evaluating two interface design frameworks: Ecological Interface Design (EID) and Function Behavior State (FBS). The measures we used cover both the measure for mental workload and the measure for performance. It is observed through the experiment that these measures vary in different degrees of sensitivity to the hypothesis under investigation and are sometimes in conflict. This has given a motivation for a further study on a new issue called ‘measure fusion’. This further study is briefly discussed.

The contents and meanings of mapping relationships between physical domain and function domain in different design stages, such as conceptual design, detail design and enhancement design, were analyzed. According to the analysis results, the fuzzy mapping between physical domain and function domain in different design stages was established by integrating objective information and subjective information in the design process, such as expert's knowledge, designer's preferences and customer's requirements, where the fuzzy sets, fuzzy mapping and fuzzy transition were used. The property table of structure behavior parameters was established based on the fuzzy mapping relationships. The fuzzy mapping is very important to optimize product structure, perfect product function, meet the diversified and individual requirements of customers. Finally, an example was used to illustrate the fuzzy mapping relationships between physical domain and function domain in different design stages.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine users’ decision-making mechanism of speculative investment behavior and its sequential consequences in the Bitcoin context from a dual-systems perspective. Design/methodology/approach Original data were collected via a survey of 334 participants with experience in Bitcoin speculative investment. The partial least squares method was used to test the proposed model. Findings Speculative investment behavior in the Bitcoin context is driven by strong impulse and weak self-control, leading to negative consequences. The extent of the imbalance between the two cognitive systems is greater with the subjective norm than without it, thus facilitating speculative investment behavior. Noteworthy differences in the impulse and self-control effects on Bitcoin speculative investment are found with differences in Bitcoin objective and subjective knowledge. Originality/value This study is the first attempt to empirically investigate users’ decision-making mechanism used when speculating in Bitcoin.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop a model of automate for effective strategy execution. Design/methodology/approach – Both exploratory and confirmatory modes of research using exploratory factor analysis, total interpretive structure modeling, and t-test techniques have been conducted. Findings – In the context of effective strategy execution, the organization support system has most driving power affecting appropriateness of other automate systems. On the other hand, the effective design and deployment of control and monitoring system dependent on other systems. The control and monitoring directly affects the success of strategy execution while the other systems affect execution through structural mediation suggested by the proposed model. Research limitations/implications – Though this study adopts multiple research methods, a comparatively large sample size would be more useful. The study also faces subjective limitation of the research context. There is possibility of participant’s biases while responding to five-point scale questionnaire. Practical implications – The driving-dependence linkages among the automate systems helps in developing appropriate managerial action plan to convert strategic goals into the results. The model helps in institutionalizing the systems as well as making them effective while linking them in structured relationship. Additionally, the integrated understanding of the automate systems helps promote a sense of purpose and shared meaning of systems among the key stakeholders, which smoothen the execution process. Originality/value – This study reviews and factorize different automate systems and identifies structured linkages among them to demonstrate the relative criticality of each systems and how effective development of one system leads to the effectiveness of other system. This study also adds methodological value extending triangulation along with the interpretative tool.

The effectiveness of five display technologies for supporting a collaborative workspace design review was compared. Participants searched for design flaws in a model of the front dashboard of a vehicle including an in-vehicle navigation system. The display types were 2D CRT, 3D CRT, 3D via Curved plasma display, a large DataWall display, and a cave automatic virtual environment (CAVE). Detection accuracy, time, and usability measures were obtained. The results indicated that detection accuracy was higher for 3D CRT and Curved displays than the 2D display or more immersive DataWall and CAVE displays. Additionally, a speed-accuracy trade-off was observed such that detection time was longer for 3D CRT and Curved displays than for 2D, or the more immersive displays. Subjective measures revealed that participants' comfort and confidence level was lower with the 2D displays than the 3D displays. Lack of sufficient training time is likely to have affected detection accuracy with the more immersive 3D displays. Overall, the use of the 3D CAD model on a standard CRT or a Curved display was the most cost-effective for collaborative design review.

Purpose – This paper aims to focus on participation in the workplace and examines the relative importance of different dimensions of job control in relation to subjective well-being and organizational commitment. These dimensions are job autonomy (within a given job), functional support (from supervisor and colleagues) and organizational level decision latitude (shop-floor consultancy on process improvements, division of labor, workmates, targets, etc.). Interaction with work intensity is looked at as well. Design/methodology/approach – Measurements and data were taken from the European Working Conditions Survey, 2010. The paper focusses on salaried employees only. The sample was further limited to employees in workplaces consisting of at least 50 workers. There are 2,048 employees in the final sample, from Denmark, Ireland, The Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and the UK. In this paper, the focus is not on differences between countries, and adding more countries would have introduced too many country characteristics as intermediate variables. Findings – In the regression analyses, functional support and organizational level decision latitude showed stronger relations with the outcome variables than job autonomy. There was no relation between work intensity and the outcome variables. Two-way interactions were found for job autonomy and organizational level decision latitude on subjective well-being and for functional support and organizational level decision latitude on organizational commitment. A three-way interaction, of all job control variables combined, was found on organizational commitment, with the presence of all types of job control showing the highest organizational commitment level. No such three-way interaction was found for subjective well-being. There was an indication for a two-way interaction of work intensity and functional support, as well as an indication for a two-way interaction of work intensity and organizational level decision latitude on subjective well-being: high work intensity and low functional support or low organizational level decision latitude seemed to associate with low well-being. No interaction was found for any dimension of job control being high and high work intensity. Research limitations/implications – Although this study has all the limitations of a cross-sectional survey, the results are more or less in accordance with existing theories. This indicates that organizational level decision latitude matters. Differentiation of job control dimensions in research models is recommended, and so is workplace innovation for healthy and productive jobs. Originality/value – Most theoretical models for empirical research are limited to control at task level (e.g. the Job Demand-Control-Support model of Karasek and Theorell. The paper aims at nuancing and extending current job control models by distinguishing three dimensions/levels of job control, referring to sociotechnical systems design theory (De Sitter) and action regulation theory (Hacker) and reciprocity (Akerlof). The policy relevance regards the consequences for work and organization design.

The National Health Insurance Program (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional /JKN) is an effort by the Government to fulfillment of the basic needs of public health. However, this program is also susceptible to fraud. Hospital as the Secondary Level Reference Facility that collaborates with the Social Security Agency (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial/ BPJS) should establish a fraud prevention system in the JKN implementation. Employees’ positions are at the forefront to reveal various forms of fraudulence including those related to JKN by means of whistleblowing. The ‘Planned Behavior Theory’ analyzes the attitude, subjective norms and behavior control perception factors that affect the intention of JKN-claim related employees' to whistleblow. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the influence of attitudinal factors, subjective norms and perceptions of behavioral control on the intention of employee whistleblowing behavior on JKN fraud programs in Hospital X Central Java Province This study is a mixed-method study with a ‘sequential explanatory design’ approach. The study was started by using a quantitative method and then continued by means of qualitative method in order to produce a hopefully more complete study result. The results of the study prove attitudes (p-value 0.038), subjective norms (p-value 0.040) and perceptions of behavioral control (p-value 0.005) jointly influence the intention of employee whistleblowing. From the results of the OR it can be seen the order of the three independent variables that have the largest to the smallest influence on employee whistleblowing intentions, namely perceptions of behavior control, attitudes and subjective norms. This can be a reference to the management priority scale to make efforts to increase the intention of employee whistleblowing in Hospital X and is expected to be able to change the "silent culture" into and "culture of openness”. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian mixed method dengan pendekatan sequential explanatory design. Diawali menggunakan metode kuantitatif dilanjutkan dengan metode kualitatif sehingga diharapkan diperoleh hasil penelitian yang lebih lengkap. Hasil penelitian membuktikan persepsi kontrol perilaku, sikap, norma subyektif secara berurut paling berpengaruh terhadap intensi whistleblowing pegawai. Namun masih perlu dilakukan upaya untuk meningkatan persepsi kontrol perilaku, sikap, norma subyektif agar intensi whistleblowing dapat menjadi perilaku whistleblowing pegawai sehingga dampak negatif adanya fraud JKN bagi organisasi dapat dicegah.

The current study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention based on the Sport Education model, compared to an intervention based on the traditional model of Direct Instruction in children. The intervention was carried out during school hours for 18 sessions of 50-min each. The sample was made up of 146 children aged 10–12 years (M = 10.78 years; SD = 1.07 years). Participants were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n = 87) and a control group (n = 59). A quasi-experimental design with repeated pretest and posttest evaluations with the control group was implemented. The Positive and Negative Affect Scale for children and adolescents (PANASN) was used to assess the affective component of subjective well-being. The Child and Adolescent Behavior Assessment System (BASC) was used to assess psychosocial adjustment. The results showed significant improvements in the affective component of subjective well-being and a reduction in anxiety in favor of the experimental group. Our current results show the methodological and practical efficacy of a Sport Education intervention.

A study involving 8 Air Force pilots was conducted to examine the efficacy of a force-reflecting joystick to improve performance during a simulated landing task in wind turbulence. By adding certain force characteristics to a joystick, it was of interest to see if performance may change, different control effort may be utilized, and workload measures may be altered based on the joystick utilized. The main results show that certain performance measures significantly improved by having the force reflection condition on. The implications of this study are that in certain types of precision tracking tasks, subjected to external disturbances, the addition of the force characteristics to the joystick can significantly improve performance, result in less effort for control, and lower subjective workload.

The pressure distribution of the hand is an important element in evaluating hand tool grip. For measuring the pressure distributions of the hand, a portable sensor glove was developed using force sensitive resistors of the conductive polymer type. Pressure distributions of three hand tools for three male subjects were measured. The pressure distribution pattern varied significantly between type of grip, location, and subjective exertion level. Factor analysis was used to identify the relative importance of each area of the hand during grip action. The results showed that there is an ‘active' area involved in gripping the hand tool and a ‘control’ area which supports the hand motion for the given task. Studies about hand tool pressure distributions will provide an important guideline in designing a new tool or improving an existing one. A microcomputer based system is being developed that records data on grip pressure distribution throughout a tool grip task. The digitized data then will be analyzed both graphically and statistically and will be used to evaluate various hand tools for industrial settings.

Speech coding is an essential technology for digital cellular communications, voice over IP, and video conferencing systems. For more than 25 years, the main approach to speech coding for these applications has been block-based analysis-by-synthesis linear predictive coding. An alternative approach that has been less successful is sample-by-sample tree coding of speech. We reformulate this latter approach as a multistage reinforcement learning problem with L step lookahead that incorporates exploration and exploitation to adapt model parameters and to control the speech analysis/synthesis process on a sample-by-sample basis. The minimization of the spectrally shaped reconstruction error to finite depth manages complexity and serves as an effective stand in for the overall subjective evaluation of reconstructed speech quality and intelligibility. Different control policies that attempt to persistently excite the system states and that encourage exploration are studied and evaluated. The resulting methods produce reconstructed speech quality competitive with the most popular speech codec utilized today. This new reinforcement learning formulation provides new insights and opens up new directions for system design and performance improvement.
