In this paper, we consider the validity of the strong maximum principle for weakly coupled, degenerate and cooperative elliptic systems in a bounded domain. In particular, we are interested in the viscosity solutions of elliptic systems with fully nonlinear degenerated principal symbol. Applying the method of viscosity solutions, introduced by Crandall, Ishii and Lions in 1992, we prove the validity of strong interior and boundary maximum principle for semi-continuous viscosity sub- and super-solutions of such nonlinear systems. For the first time in the literature, the strong maximum principle is considered for viscosity solutions to nonlinear elliptic systems. As a consequence of the strong interior maximum principle, we derive comparison principle for viscosity sub- and super-solutions in case when on of them is a classical one. The main novelty of this work is the reduction of the smoothness of the solution. In the literature the strong maximum principle is proved for classical C2 or generalized C1 solutions, while we prove it for semi-continuous ones.

Due to the emergence of technological solutions that allow creating systems based on strong artificial intelligence (AI), and the high probability of developing super-strong AI in the near future, special презумпцию невиновности человека attention has recently been paid to the legal problems of regulating the interaction of humans and society with new intelligent agents. The purpose of the research is to analyze modern legal principles of interaction between humans and artificial intelligence, neural networks and intelligent robots, which are the necessary basis for forming modern legislation in this area in Russia and foreign countries. Methods: empirical methods of comparison, description, interpretation; theoretical methods of formal and dialectical logic are used. Special scientific methods are used: comparative-legal, legal-dogmatic. Results: the study allows us to determine a number of relevant legal principles of human interaction with AI as well as with robots and other objects of robotics, based on a comparative legal analysis of the current legislation. They are the principle of humanism; the principle of justice; the prohibition of discrimination when using AI, robots and objects of robotics; the presumption of human innocence; the principle of human innocence; the principle of respect for human dignity; the principle of confidentiality; the principle of disclosure of information on the development, production and use of robots and artificial intelligence; the principle of autonomy of will when using systems equipped with AI; the principle of the presumption of consent; the principle of informed consent to the use (impact) of systems equipped with AI.

This paper is concerned with a fully non-linear variant of the Allen–Cahn equation with strong irreversibility, where each solution is constrained to be non-decreasing in time. The main purposes of this paper are to prove the well-posedness, smoothing effect and comparison principle, to provide an equivalent reformulation of the equation as a parabolic obstacle problem and to reveal long-time behaviours of solutions. More precisely, by derivingpartialenergy-dissipation estimates, a global attractor is constructed in a metric setting, and it is also proved that each solutionu(x,t) converges to a solution of an elliptic obstacle problem ast→ +∞.

Abstract In this work we prove a strong maximum principle for fractional elliptic problems with mixed Dirichlet–Neumann boundary data which extends the one proved by J. Dávila (cf. [11]) to the fractional setting. In particular, we present a comparison result for two solutions of the fractional Laplace equation involving the spectral fractional Laplacian endowed with homogeneous mixed boundary condition. This result represents a non–local counterpart to a Hopf’s Lemma for fractional elliptic problems with mixed boundary data.

Our results apply to a large class of nonlinear operators, among which Pucci’s extremal operators, some singular operators such as those modeled on the p- and $$\infty $$ ∞ -Laplacian, and mean curvature-type problems. As a byproduct, we establish new strong comparison principles for some second-order uniformly elliptic problems when the manifold has nonnegative sectional curvature.

Under strong influence of the European coherency, the member states are constantly improving public administration performance. The scientific justification of the paper has been reflected through analysis and synthesis of legally binding or non-binding /international and European principles. It focuses on international and European rules and practice promoting principles of legality, professionalism, transparency, responsibility, public service integrity. They have a strong influence on the development and implementation of the standards in national public administration systems. It is expected that harmonization of national regulations will encourage development of common practice of public officials' performance. The European Court of Human Rights doctrine and practice has developed the principle of legality (rule of law, legal certainty). The paper also emphasizes the efforts of European institutions (European Commission, Council of Europe, European Court of Human Rights) as well as other international organisations (United Nations). The paper offers the analysis and comparison of divergent tendencies in the permanent public administration reform. It elaborates convergence and symbiosis of international and European standards and their influence to national administrative systems. Particular attention has been given to comparison at cross-national level and possibilities for putting standards in practice in various national legal systems. Prevailing research methods are theoretical and normative, comparative and descriptive research methods, as well as cross-national and international comparisons with respect to case law of European institutions (European Court of Human Rights, Council of Europe).

<p>This study explores the future implementation of blasphemy law in Indonesia. This research suggests some recommendations for Indonesian blasphemy law by looking at different blasphemy policy options in Ireland and Canada. This research will focus on the principle of legal certainty. Legal certainty is an essential aspect for criminal law to avoid state arbitrariness and to have predictability. According to Principle 14 of the European Pillar of Social Rights, everyone should have the right to adequate minimum income benefits that ensure a life in dignity. Reference budgets have been proposed to monitor this principle. Reference budgets are priced baskets of goods and services that represent a given living standard. At the moment, no common methodology for constructing reference budgets exists; instead, different methods are used to construct them. This study sought to compare the approaches and results of two Finnish reference budgets: one created by the Centre for Consumer Society Research (CCSR), and the second by the ImPRovE project. The purpose of the article is to respond to a gap in existing literature around how different methods for constructing reference budgets impact their outcomes. The two reference budgets offer a strong basis for comparison because they both sought to capture the same living standard in the same context for similar household types (single woman, single man, heterosexual couple, and heterosexual couple with two children), while using different approaches. The results suggest that the two reference budgets arrive at different estimates of what is needed for social participation. Ultimately, we found that the most significant differences between the budgets were housing and mobility costs for the couple with two children due to differences in information bases, selection criteria, evaluators, and pricing. The study makes a significant contribution to the literature because it is one of the first to explore how different approaches to constructing reference budgets affect their outcomes. The results suggest that clear criteria for constructing reference budgets are needed to monitor Principle 14 of the European Pillar of Social Rights.

The purpose of the article is to identify the main ideological and philosophical principles of thematization of ballet criticism by Akim Volynsky. Methodology. The research was carried out on the basis of theoretical generalizations, systematization, comparison, using the chronological principle and culturological approach. Scientific novelty. For the first time, the main ideological and philosophical principles of thematization of the ballet criticism of Akim Volynsky are revealed. Conclusions. For А. Volynsky, the concepts of "mind" and "spirit" were synonymous, which testifies to the effectiveness and productivity of his critical academic modernist (symbolist) ballet discourse, educational, focused on the harmony of rational and spiritual principles of intention. Unlike many contemporaries who professed the cult of Dionysus, Volynsky considered Apollo the highest symbol of spirituality and intellectuality in man. But he argued that the "Apollonian" revival in the culture of that time was opposed by a too strong and all-pervading chaotic "Dionysian" principle. Volynsky traces the evolution of classical ballet from ancient cults and seeks to comprehend its psychological content. He believed that criticism should be non-ideological, artistic, based on absolute idealistic values, which caused a wide range of opinions of theorists and practitioners of ballet art: from harsh condemnation (A. Gvozdev, A. Piotrovsky, I. Sollertinsky) to recognizing the importance of the critic's theoretical intentions for in its time (V. Gaevsky, R. Zakharov). A. Volynsky contributed to the institutionalization of ballet criticism in the Russian Empire and in the Soviet Union, differentiating it into professional and amateurish.

Under suitable conditions on K and f, the equation with small μ ⩾ 0 possesses a continuum of entire solutions with a specific asymptotic behaviour. Typically, K behaves like |x|ℓ at ∞ for some ℓ > −2 and the entire solutions behave asymptotically like − (2 + ℓ)log |x| near ∞. Main tools of the analysis are comparison principle for separation structure, asymptotic expansion of solutions near ∞, barrier method and strong maximum principle. The linearized operator for the equation has two characteristic behaviours related with the stability and the weak asymptotic stability of the solutions as steady states for the corresponding parabolic equation.

The debate whether university education should be “free” seems misconstrued. Even in a system without tuition fees, someone will have to foot the bill. This paper argues that from the viewpoint of justice, a strong case can be made in higher education for adopting the beneficiary pays principle, and for institutionalising it in the form of a graduate tax. My evaluation from the perspective of justice will focus on the comparison between a “free” university system funded through the general tax system on the one hand, and one financed through a graduate tax on the other. On the beneficiary pays principle defended here, the regressive nature of the general-tax-funded higher education system renders it unjust. Furthermore, I believe we have three reasons to favour a graduate tax in practice. First, I will suggest that it does a better job at implementing the beneficiary pays principle. Second, I will argue that even though the distributive outcome of a corrected general-tax-funded education may be just, it is unlikely to be perceived to be just. A third point of comparison between the two approaches to fund higher education will be international mobility, which will reinforce the case for a graduate tax from the viewpoint of justice.

Abstract Purpose Adolescent scoliosis is one of the common pediatric spinal diseases which has a high risk of progression due to the rapid growth of the skeleton during the growing stage therefore needs regular clinical monitoring including X-rays. Because X-rays could lead to ionizing radiation-related health problems, an ionizing radiation-free, non-invasive method is presented here to estimate the degree of scoliosis and to potentially support the medical assessment. Methods The radiation-free body scanner provides a 3D surface scan of the torso. A basic 3D structure of the human ribcage and vertebral column was modeled and simulated with computer-aided design software and finite element method calculation. For comparison with X-rays, courses of vertebral columns derived from 3D torso images and 3D models were analyzed with respect to their apex positions and angles. Results The methods show good results in the estimation of the apex positions of scoliosis. Strong correlations (R = 0.8924) were found between the apex and Cobb angle from X-rays. Similar correlations (R = 0.8087) was obtained between the apex angles extracted from X-rays and the combination of torso scan images with 3D model simulations. Promising agreement was obtained between the spinal trajectories extracted from X-ray and 3D torso images. Conclusions Very strong correlations suggest that the apex angle could potentially be used for scoliosis assessment in follow-up examinations in complement to the Cobb angle. However, further improvements of the methods and tests on a larger number of data set are necessary before their introduction into the clinical application.

We show from an abstract comparison principle (the Ultrapower Axiom) that the Mitchell order is linear on sufficiently strong ultrafilters: normal ultrafilters, Dodd solid ultrafilters, and assuming GCH, generalized normal ultrafilters. This gives a conditional answer to the well-known question of whether a [Formula: see text]-supercompact cardinal [Formula: see text] must carry more than one normal measure of order 0. Conditioned on a very plausible iteration hypothesis, the answer is no, since the Ultrapower Axiom holds in the canonical inner models at the finite levels of supercompactness.

Abstract Energy is an important material that promotes social development and maintains human life. Clean energy has become a scientific research theme of open world which appeal to many scientists to research it. This paper inspired by the experience of sunflower growth. So we proposed a mathematical model for automatic adjustment of the maximum luminous flux for a limited solar panel, which can help to adjust the best light position. The physical model added to the light detector in the practical application, real-time comparison of the difference in illumination at different positions to adjust the direction of solar panel, thereby enhancing the utilization of light energy. In addition, in order to save space and prevent severe weather attacks, we designed a autofolding circle disc and retractable rectangular solar panels. The intelligent system judgement and decision making based on the electrical signals fed back by the wind sensor or the vibration sensor. When the wind speed reaches the threshold, it can be folded or contracted automatically, reducing manual maintenance. The fully automatic solar panels are designed in this paper, the research results show that theis model has a high utilization, strong sensitivity, safety and durability, and easy control. This is also a process of theoretical exploration of interdisciplinary services for the energy system.

<p><strong><em>The purpose </em></strong><em>of the study is to analyze the role of the mass media in the political socialization of the actor.</em></p><p><strong><em>Research methodology</em></strong><em>. In accordance with the purpose, the research process required a comprehensive application of such methods as: descriptive-analytical – for analyzing the principles of implementation of the impact with subsequent comparison and generalization of the results; inductive-deductive – for observing and describing the selected characteristics of the influence of the mass media; bibliographic – for collecting and processing of literature on the research topic.</em></p><p><strong><em>Results.</em></strong><em> The study of political socialization is based on two main principles. The first is the «principle of primacy», according to which one learns better what one learns first. The second is the «structuring principle». It consists in the fact that the primary training structures the further training. As a result, the main attention of researchers of political socialization was focused on the study of the primary socialization mechanisms and institutions – the family and the school. This actually caused insufficient attention to the socialization function of the mass media. The main factor favorable for eroding the claims of the mass media for «intellectual» independence and, at the same time, for ensuring their activities in modern societies, has become the market type of relations. The mass media act in relation to the market as the main means of stimulating consumption – not only in the field of advertising, but also as a translator of various lifestyles given by a certain type of consumption. The most important systemic orientations deal with the distributed support of the components of the political system, namely, with the support of the political power, the political regime and the political community.</em></p><p><strong><em>Novelty.</em></strong><em> The article analyzes the main approaches to the influence of the mass media on the political socialization of an actor, identifies the specifics of this socialization in the territory of the post-Soviet space.</em></p><p><strong><em>The practical significance.</em></strong><em> The results of the research can be used in the development of educational materials on normative disciplines («Introduction to the Specialty», «Genres of Journalism», «History of Ukrainian Journalism», «Theory and Practice of Journalistic Creativity»), special courses and special seminars in higher education institutions for students of the «Journalism» specialty.</em></p><p><strong><em>Key words:</em></strong> <em>political socialization, influence of mass media, manipulations, political consciousness</em>.</p>

When the rotary machinery is running, the vibration signals measured with sensors are mixed with all vibration sources and contain very strong noises. It is difficult to separate mixed signals with conventional methods of signal processing, so there are difficulties in machine health monitoring and fault diagnosis. The principle and method of blind source separation were introduced, and it was pointed out that the blind source separation algorithm was invalid in strong pulse noise environment. In these environments, the vibration signals are first denoised with the synchronous cumulative average noise reduction (SCA) method, and the denoised signals were separated with the improved fast independent component analysis (FastICA) algorithm. The results of simulation test and rotor fault experiments demonstrate that the novel method can effectively extract fault features, certifying its superiority in comparison with previous methods. Therefore, it is likely to be useful and practical in the fault detection area, especially under the condition of strong noise and vibration interferences.

Under the conditions of low flow rate and strong noise, the current electromagnetic flowmeter (EMF) cannot satisfy the requirement for measurement or separate the actual flow signal and interference signal accurately. Correlation detection technology can reduce the bandwidth and suppress noise effectively using the periodic transmission of signal and noise randomness. As for the problem that the current anti-interference technology cannot suppress noise effectively, the noise and interference of the electromagnetic flowmeter were analyzed in this paper, and a design of the electromagnetic flowmeter based on differential correlation detection was proposed. Then, in order to verify the feasibility of the electromagnetic flow measurement system based on differential correlation, an experimental platform for the comparison between standard flow and measured flow was established and a verification experiment was carried out under special conditions and with flow calibration measurements. Finally, the data obtained in the experiment were analyzed. The research result showed that an electromagnetic flowmeter based on differential correlation detection satisfies the need for measurement completely. The lower limit of the flow rate of the electromagnetic flowmeter based on the differential correlation principle could reach 0.084 m/s. Under strong external interferences, the electromagnetic flowmeter based on differential correlation had a fluctuation range in output value of only 10 mV. This shows that the electromagnetic flowmeter based on the differential correlation principle has unique advantages in measurements taken under the conditions of strong noise, slurry flow, and low flow rate.

Two numerical models are investigated to model random water waves (RWWs) transformation due to mild depth variation. Modelling of steady on-shore propagation of small-amplitude RWWs is based on superposition principle of waves of different heights and directions. Each component is simulated through either the parabolic model (PM) or the elliptic model (EM). PM simulates weak refraction, diffraction, shoaling, and wave breaking. EM simulates strong refraction, diffraction, and shoaling. Both models neglect wave reflection. Comparison between PM and EM, in test cases that are experimentally measured, proved that both models give good results for unidirectional and narrow-directional RWW. However, EM is more accurate in modelling broad-directional RWWs.

<pre><em>This research criticizes public policy principle on the ground to refuse recognition and enforce the awards of international arbitration. As we all know, arbitration is an alternative dispute resolution which award is final and binding to the parties. In international business transaction, the parties often choose international arbitration as choice of forum to resolve their incoming disputes. New York Convention obligates the contracting states, including Indonesia and Singapore, to recognize and enforce the awards of tribunal, except if the court finds that the awards or its enforcement is contrary to public policy. Public policy principle has no standard definition, so public policy becomes subjective since every state has their own way to define it. That results in legal certainty not being assured to the parties to enforce their tribunal awards. This research aims to know, review, and analyze the comparison of the application of public policy principle on the ground to refuse recognition and enforce the awards of international arbitration in Indonesia and Singapore. This research uses normative legal studies that analyze the related law and legal precedence documents to find the answers and recommendation to the issues. Therefore, this research could explain data and analysis of differences in application of public policy principle in Indonesia and Singapore in order to refuse recognition and enforcement of the international arbitration awards in accordance to legal certainty and expediency principle, along with jurisprudence theory and state sovereignty.</em></pre><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: </strong>Penelitian ini berguna memberikan wawasan terkait penerapan konsep ketertiban umum <em>(public policy)</em> pada penolakan terhadap pengakuan dan pelaksanaan putusan arbitrase internasional di Pengadilan Indonesia. Seperti diketahui, arbitrase merupakan sebuah lembaga penyelesaian sengketa di luar pengadilan yang putusannya final dan mengikat. Dalam transaksi bisnis internasional, arbitrase internasional merupakan pilihan forum penyelesaian sengketa yang cukup sering dipilih oleh para pihak dalam menyelesaikan sengketanya. Konvensi New York<em> </em>mewajibkan negara anggotanya, termasuk Indonesia dan Singapura untuk mengakui dan mengeksekusi semua putusan arbitrase internasional yang diputuskan oleh negara anggota lainnya, kecuali dengan alasan putusan tersebut dinyatakan bertentangan dengan ketertiban umum. Ketertiban umum merupakan suatu asas yang tidak mempunyai definisi pasti, sehingga kesan yang subjektif mengingat adanya ketidaksamaan antar negara dalam memaknainya. Hal tersebut mengakibatkan tidak terjaminnya kepastian hukum bagi para pihak untuk menjalankan hasil putusannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mengkaji perbandingan bagaimana penerapan konsep ketertiban umum pada penolakan terhadap pengakuan dan pelaksanaan putusan arbitrase internasional di Pengadilan Indonesia dan Singapura. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode penelitian hukum normatif, sehingga dianalisis peraturan perundang-undangan dan putusan pengadilan terkait untuk menemukan jawaban dan saran atas permasalahan dimaksud. According to anti-seismic design principle of strong column and weak beam, and of strong joint and weak member, reduced beam section (RSB) is often used to shift away plastic hinge from end of beam to the weaken region of the beam. The non-linear finite element models are established for concrete-filled steel square tubular column and reduced steel beam with holes in flange or in flange and web, considering geometric large deformation and material nonlinear. Comparison is made on load-displacement curves, the stress distribution of reduced beams, the ultimate load-carrying capacity, the ductility, and the energy-dissipating ability between analysis results of different RBS joints and experimental results. It shows that the stiffness and ultimate load-carrying capacity of new RBS joints are close to traditional RBS joint, the plastic hinge in the new joints with reduced beam section can be moved to the reduced region, and the new joints display good ductility, energy-dissipating ability and seismic behavior.

We argue that textsetting is better accounted for under the framework of sequence comparison, whereby textsetting is taken to be an instance of sequence alignment. Given a text, a tune, and an alignment procedure, we argue that all one needs is to align strong elements of one sequence (the text) to elements of the other (the tune). We show that, in many cases, the only principle needed to account for textsetting in English folk music is Strength Match, i.e., matching stressed syllables to strong beats. Many constraints proposed by previous treatments are to be discarded if we allow our textsetting model to compare between different possible textsettings and then choose the optimal one. The optimization problem is automated under the framework of dynamic programming, which allows us to create a distance metric to score all possible alignments. Moreover, we show that preferred textsettings always have the highest score, when compared to other textsettings that are either ill-formed or less preferred.

This paper presents the results of self-consistent first-principle calculations for the crystal structure and electronic structure of pure tantalum, TaNO, and TaZrNO within density functional theory (DFT) for the sake of comparison and shows the influence of allowing elements on the interatomic distance and the Fermi level. The large total densities of states (TDOS) value for TaZrNO implies the highest electronic conductivity. The difference in values is due to the Zr metallic atoms presence in TaZrNO compound. There is a strong interaction between Ta and (N, O) (Ta−N=0.39, Ta−O=0.21) in TaON compound, and Zr presence increases this interaction (Ta−N=1.74, Ta−O=0.30) in TaZrON compound.

We present two methods to extract the series resistance and the mobility degradation parameter in short-channel MOSFETs. The principle of the first method is based on the comparison between the exponential model and the classical model of effective mobility and for the second method is based on directly calculating the two parameters by solving a system of two equations obtained by using two different points in strong inversion at small drain bias from the characteristic (). The results obtained by these techniques have shown a better agreement with data measurements and allowed in the same time to determine the surface roughness amplitude and its influence on the maximum drain current and give the optimal oxide thickness.

This paper is concerned with the global dynamics of a Lotka–Volterra competition diffusion system having nonlocal intraspecies terms. Based on the reconstructed comparison principle and monotone iteration, the existence and uniqueness of the solution for the corresponding Cauchy problem are established. In addition, the spreading speed of the system with compactly supported initial data is considered, which admits uniform upper and lower bounds. Finally, some sufficient conditions for guaranteeing the existence and nonexistence of Turing bifurcation are given, which depend on the intensity of nonlocality. Comparing with the classical Lotka–Volterra competition diffusion system, our results indicate that a nonconstant periodic solution may exist if the nonlocality is strong enough, which are also illustrated numerically.

Based on the review of regulations and press releases of EU institutions, the content of changes in the cohesion policy in 2021–2027 was revealed in comparison with the period 2014– 2020. The conclusion is made about the preservation of a significant role of the cohesion policy in the EU’s activities and high volume of its allocations from the EU Budget. The author sees an element of novelty in the synthesis of well-known methods and principles of supranational regulation of the socio-economic development of the EU territories – the budget method, the principle of financial conditionality and the open method of coordination. Particular attention is paid to the decision to reorient a third of the allocations of European regional policy funds for programs of transition to a circular and climate-neutral economy in 2021–2027. The explanation of such strong link between the goals of regional policy and the ecological and climatic goals of the EU is proposed. Namely, the success of the «Europe 2020» Strategy only in terms of climate benchmarks, according to the author, gives to the official Brussels a reason to see the potential to increase the effectiveness of regional policy.

Partial discharge (PD) is an important metric for the insulation diagnosis of power equipment. However, its detection is affected by the strong electromagnetic interference generated by pulse square voltage. We therefore propose a power interference suppression method for partial discharges under pulse square voltage based on a quadratic measurement method. We conduct analysis of the topology circuit when partial discharge occurs in the insulation test sample and introduce the basic principle of the secondary measurement method according to the superposition principle and the linear relationship between the square voltages at different peak values. We verify the feasibility of this method by simulating a PD signal with power interference. Subsequently, we use the successive interception comparison method to solve the non-correspondence of the two initial measurement points problem and design and manufacture the transformer turn-to-turn oil-paper insulation test sample and experimental tank. By measuring the PD starting voltage of the insulation test sample under the power frequency voltage, we determined the first measurement voltage under the pulse square voltage and obtained the signal x1(t) to subsequently measure the PD signal x2(t). According to the proposed successive interception comparison method, the signal x1(t) is processed, and the secondary measurement method suppresses the power interference of the measured signal x2(t). We demonstrate that the proposed method effectively suppresses the power interference in PD detection under a pulse square voltage.

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> Elastic stable intramedullary nailing for the treatment of paediatric femur and tibial diaphyseal fractures was introduced by Prevot and colleagues in 1979. It follows three-point fixation principle that provides internal support in presence of cortical contact and an intact soft-tissue envelope. This technique has many advantages, including better reduction, dynamic axial stabilization, shorter hospitalization with early rehabilitation and low complication rate.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> This is a prospective observational study done at Kauvery Medical Centre, Trichy between May 2017 to May 2018 consisting of 39 children between age 5 to 16 years with diaphyseal fractures of femur and tibia. The fractures were treated by closed reduction and internal fixation with titanium elastic intramedullary nailing. The patients were evaluated clinically and radiologically and followed for an average of 6 months. Outcome was assessed using transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) scoring system used by Flynn et al.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> Our series consisted of 39 patients (22 cases with fracture shaft of femur and 17 cases with fracture shaft of tibia), 33 males and only 6 females. Average time for radiological union was 9.89 weeks. All patients had full range of hip and ankle motion and 2 (5.1%) patients had mild restriction in knee flexion at 12 weeks.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> Elastic stable intramedullary nailing is an ideal method for treatment of paediatric femoral and tibial diaphyseal fractures due to lower complication rate and good functional outcome in comparison to other methods of treatment.</p>

Hospitals are increasingly needed by the public. The increasing demand makes hospital growth increase. An increase of 154.7% occurred between 1997 and 2017. However, the increase in hospitals was not in line with improved services. Many complaints come from patients to the services provided by the hospital. This research is a study using a combination of qualitative methods and quantitative methods. Data collection techniques in qualitative methods were by observation and interviews with informants who worked at Mandaya Hospital Karawang and Resinda Hotel Karawang managed by Padma Hotels as a comparison. Data collection on quantitative methods is by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents of patients at Mandaya Hospital Karawang. The results showed that the principle of hospitality services is very relevant to be implemented in the Mandaya Hospital Karawang. The implementation of these policies changed the old culture that had been used to become a new culture with the principle of hospitality. Various efforts have been made by management to anticipate changes and maximize service. Front office employees who accept changes in policies and facilities are expected to be able to provide quality services to their patients. By quantitative methods, researchers found a correlation test showed that service quality had a strong and positive effect on patient satisfaction.

Restructuring of the current organizational structure of governing educational and academic work acts as a fundamental trend providing implementation of the new strategic program of university development meeting the principles of ‘Priority-2030‘. After a long period of splitting education and science by vertical lines of the predominant linear-functional model, today restructuring implies their integration on the basis of a new strategic unit, i. e. higher school. Concrete advantages of higher school as a new strong point in the system of university governance were demonstrated in comparison with faculties and chairs and hyper-faculties or departments in other universities. A project mechanism of education program management was put forward, which leans on its academic leader. The authors formulated the algorithm of building the academic and educational potential of university and developed a principle scheme of the university educational and academic platform organization, illustrated by the subject field ‘Economic and Management’.

The full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method (FP-LAPW) within density functional theory, using the generalized gradient approximation, is used to study the structural and electronic properties of zinc-blende B y Al x Ga 1-x-y N quaternary alloys that match the lattice of an AlN substrate. The range of compositions, for which the lattice of the alloy matches AlN , is determined. Our calculated band structure, density of states, electron density and lattice parameter for B y Al x Ga 1-x-y N allow to accurately evaluate the profound effect that the incorporation of small amounts of Boron have on structural and electronic properties of Al x Ga 1-x N alloys. A comparison of the ground state properties with the available experimental and theoretical data is made for the compounds related to B y Al x Ga 1-x-y N and of the Al x Ga 1-x N alloys. The results show a strong dependence of the band gap (as well as the lattice parameter) on the Boron content, which might make B y Al x Ga 1-x-y N materials promising and useful for optoelectronic applications.

Graphonomy is an interdisciplinary field that is directed at the scientific analysis of the process of writing and signatures, the results of scratches, and other graphic skills on documents that lead to the examination of writing for identification purposes to serve law enforcement and justice. Analysis of the form of signatures on documents using the forensic identification method is divided into 3 forms that produce differences in crossing, touch (pressure), ink, and pulling edges, where the principle of signature examination is to compare the evidence with the original comparison of the victim. The examination will produce a different analysis from each examiner's view seen from the form of the signature, so that the examiner must recognize all parts of the writing or signature that have a strong characteristic of permanent content in a document to be examined.

SynopsisWe consider the problemwhere H stands for the maximal monotone graph associated with the Heaviside step function. It is shown that the problem possesses at least one (strong) solution belonging to an appropriate function space. Moreover, we prove:(i) There is a smooth initial function u0, u0≧1, where the equality holds at exactly one point such that there are at least two different solutions corresponding to the initial data u0.(ii) The comparison principle: The relation for any x ≠ 0, implies u1(t)>u2(t), t≧0 for any u1, u2 solving the problem with the initial data , respectively.(iii) For a “reasonable” set of initial data the solution is uniquely determined. Moreover, the free boundary {(x, t)| u(x, t) = 1} is regular and on its complement the equation holds in a classical sense.

Abstract Strong regression relationships between light detection and ranging (LIDAR) metrics and indices of forest structure have been reported in the literature. However, most papers focus on empirical results and do not consider LIDAR metric selection and biological interpretation explicitly. In this study, three different variable selection methods (stepwise regression, principle component analysis [PCA], and Bayesian modeling averaging [BMA]) were compared using LIDAR data from three study sites: Capitol Forest in western Washington State, Mission Creek in central Washington State, and Kenai Peninsula in south central Alaska. Separate aboveground biomass regression models were developed for each site as well as common models using three study sites simultaneously. Final biomass models have R2 values ranging from 0.67 to 0.88 for three study sites. PCA indicates that three LIDAR metrics (mean height, coefficient variation of height, and canopy LIDAR point density) explain the majority of variation contained within a larger set of metrics. Within each study area, forest biomass models using these three predictor variables had similar R2 values as the stepwise and BMA regression models. Individual site models using these three variables are recommended because these models are straightforward in terms of model form and biological interpretation and are easily adopted for application.

AbstractThe electronic structure and magnetic properties of Mn doped zinc blende cadmium sulfide Cd1-xMnxS (x = 6.25 %) have been studied using spin-polarized density functional theory within the framework of Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA), its further corrections including Hubbard U interactions (GGA + U) and a model for exchange and correlation potential Tran Blaha modified Becke-Johnson (TB-mBJ). Ferromagnetic interactions have been observed between Mn atoms via S atom due to strong p-d hybridization. The magnetic moments on Mn and its neighboring atoms have also been studied in detail using different charge analysis techniques. It has been observed that p-d hybridization reduced the value of local magnetic moment of Mn in comparison to its free space charge value and produced small local magnetic moments on the nonmagnetic S and Cd host sites. The magnetocrystalline anisotropy in [1 0 0] and [1 1 1] directions as well as exchange splitting parameters Noα and Noβ have been analyzed to confirm that ferromagnetism exists. We conclude that the ferromagnetic phase in Mn-doped CdS is not stable in “near” configuration but it is stable for “far” configuration. Mn doped CdS is a p-type semiconductor and the d-states at the top of the valence band edge give a very useful material for photoluminescence and magneto-optical devices.

Social media plays a key role in the contemporary world, having indefinite power to influence people by just a single post and click of a button, reaching millions of people in a few seconds. In April 2022, Elon Musk announced his step into the world-famous‘wall of opinions’ – Twitter– with words of creating a better, free-speech-based platform with no limitations. Since online radicalization became the easiest and most powerful recruiting tool for terrorist and extremist organizations, this raised concerns about whether this action is beneficial or not. The aim of the paper was to describe the principle of online radicalization and present it via evidence-based examples, as well as transpose the known aspects of Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter. A comparison study was made between these known examples of radicalization on the Internet, currently used preventive policy principles and possible future steps based on the announcements of Elon Musk himself. Results confirmed that online radicalization is the most effective method for extremists, and that the society and authorities should keep an eye on the development of the platform regarding the real threat of losing control over the content that can be harmful to Twitter users. Free speech is a strong argument for freeing the rules of sharing content, but the ‘dark side’ of this move has to be considered as well.

The effect of fibre type and fibre amount on physico-mechanical properties of slurry infiltrated fibre concrete (SIFCON) at both quasi-static and dynamic load was evaluated experimentally. SIFCON is a special type of cement-based composite with high fibre volume fraction, extremely strong and ductile. Test specimens were prepared with 7 types of steel fibres (with different shape and mechanical parameters) in four volume fractions (7.5-15 vol. %). High performance fibre-reinforced concrete (HPFRC) has also been cast and tested for comparison purposes. The impact test has been carried out by using an in-house manufactured impact testing machine based on drop test principle. The test results revealed that SIFCON slab with 15 vol. % fibre content exhibits superior energy-absorption characteristics when compared to other slab specimens. Diameter of the fibres plays an important role for both strength and energy absorption capacity of SIFCON - using of low-diameter fibres with higher aspect ratio leads to the best results.

Abstract The specific features of the interaction of charged particles with polar optical phonons have been studied theoretically for quantum wells with the barriers that are asymmetric in their dielectric properties. It is shown that the interaction with interface phonon modes makes the greatest contribution in narrow quantum wells. The parameters of the electron-phonon interaction were found for the cases of different values of the phonon frequencies in the barrier materials. It turned out that a significant (by almost an order of magnitude) change in the parameters of the electron-phonon interaction can occur in such structures. This makes it possible, in principle, to trace the transition from weak to strong interactions in quantum wells of the same type but with different compositions of barrier materials. The conditions are found under which an enhancement of the electron-phonon interaction is possible in an asymmetric structure in comparison with a symmetric one with the barriers of the same composition.

<abstract> <p>A new swarm-based optimization algorithm called the Aquila optimizer (AO) was just proposed recently with promising better performance. However, as reported by the proposer, it almost remains unchanged for almost half of the convergence curves at the latter iterations. Considering the better performance and the lazy latter convergence rates of the AO algorithm in optimization, the multiple updating principle is introduced and the heterogeneous AO called HAO is proposed in this paper. Simulation experiments were carried out on both unimodal and multimodal benchmark functions, and comparison with other capable algorithms were also made, most of the results confirmed the better performance with better intensification and diversification capabilities, fast convergence rate, low residual errors, strong scalabilities, and convinced verification results. Further application in optimizing three benchmark real-world engineering problems were also carried out, the overall better performance in optimizing was confirmed without any other equations introduced for improvement.</p> </abstract>
