This dissertation has two parts. In the first part, we focus on random inner product kernel matrices. Under various assumptions, many authors have proved that the limiting empirical spectral distribution (ESD) of such matrices A converges to the Marchenko- Pastur distribution. Here, we establish the corresponding rate of convergence. The strategy is as follows. First, we show that for z = u + iv ∈ C, v > 0, the distance between the Stieltjes transform m_A (z) of ESD of matrix A and Machenko-Pastur distribution m(z) is of order O (log n \ nv). Next, we prove the Kolmogorov distance between ESD of matrix A and Marchenko-Pastur distribution is of order O(3\log n\n). It is the less sharp rate for much more general class of matrices. This uses a Berry-Esseen type bound that has been employed for similar purposes for other families of random matrices. In the second part, random geometric graphs on the unit sphere are considered. Observing that adjacency matrices of these graphs can be thought of as random inner product matrices, we are able to use an idea of Cheng-Singer to establish the limiting for the ESD of these adjacency matrices.

Повний текст джерелаIn this thesis, we are interested mainly by the diffusive behaviours and the speed of convergence towards equilibrium in the sense of the variance of different models of interacting particles systems and a problem of percolation.We start by introducing unformally the first subject of interest. In the study of dynamic systems, a markov process aperiodic and irreducible having an invariant measure converges towards it in a long time. In this work, we are interested to quantify the speed of this convergence by studying the variance of the semigroup associated to the dynamic applied to some set of functions. Two speeds of convergence are considered: the exponential speed of convergence implied by a spectral gap in the generator of the process; a polynomial tome of convergence called diffusive when the spectral gap is null.In the second chapter, we study the model of random walk in random environment and we prove in this context a diffusive behavior of the speed of convergence.in the third chapter, we study the simple exclusion process with degenerate rates in dimension 1 called ka1F. We prove bounds on the spectral gap in finite volume and a sub-diffusive behavior in infinite volume. In the fourth chapter, we study an unbounded spin model. We prove a relation betweden the covariance of the evolution of two masses and a random walk in a dynamic random environment.In the last chapter, we are interested in the model of percolation and the study of a conjecture studying the distance of graph in the sense of the percolation

Повний текст джерелаIn this dissertation, we present the periodic homogenization of a spectral problem and the waveequation with periodic rapidly varying coefficients in a bounded domain. The asymptotic behavioris addressed based on a method of Bloch wave homogenization. It allows modeling both the lowand high frequency waves. The low frequency part is well-known and it is not a new point here.In the opposite, the high frequency part of the model, which represents oscillations occurringat the microscopic and macroscopic scales, was not well understood. Especially, the boundaryconditions of the high-frequency macroscopic equation established in [36] were not known prior to thecommencement of thesis. The latter brings three main contributions. The first two contributions, areabout the asymptotic behavior of the periodic homogenization of the spectral problem and waveequation in one-dimension. The third contribution consists in an extension of the model for thespectral problem to a thin two-dimensional bounded strip Ω = (0; _) _ (0; ") _ R2. The homogenizationresult includes boundary layer effects occurring in the boundary conditions of the high-frequencymacroscopic equation

Resumo: Neste trabalho propomos modificações globalmente convergentes para o Método das Assíntotas Móveis (MMA), baseadas no parâmetro espectral para a construção das aproximações das funções originais e na relaxação da condição conservadora. A informação de segunda ordem presente no parâmetro espectral é incluída nas aproximações racionais da função objetivo e das restrições não-lineares no início de cada iteração, de modo a melhorar a qualidade dos modelos. A condição conservadora é relaxada por meio de uma seqüência forçante controlada somável, de maneira que a convergência global é mantida. Também, propomos uma nova estratégia para resolver os subproblemas MMA por meio do problema dual, usando uma técnica de região de confiança. Os experimentos numéricos realizados comprovam a eficiência das estratégias propostas. Ainda, por trabalharmos com um problema aumentado associado à formulação padrão para o problema de programação não-linear com restrições de desigualdade, estabelecemos relações entre os pontos KKT do problema aumentado e os pontos correspondentes do problema original associado
Abstract: In this work we propose globally convergent versions for the Method of Moving Asymptotes (MMA), based on the spectral parameter for updating the approximations of the original functions and on relaxing the conservative condition. The second-order information present in the spectral parameter is included in the rational approximations of the objective function and of the nonlinear constraints in the beginning of each iteration, so as to improve the quality of the models. The conservative condition is relaxed by means of a summable controlled forcing sequence, so that global convergence is maintained. Also, we propose a new strategy to solve the MMA subproblems by means of the dual problem, using a trust-region technique. The performed numerical experiments confirm the efficiency of the proposed strategies. In addition, by working with an extended problem associated with the standard formulation for the nonlinear programming problem with inequality constraints, we have established relationships between the KKT points of the extended problem and the corresponding points of the associated original problem

As a result of the work: created new methods of voice processing, which provide for use to characterize the psychological type of person; obtained results that can be used in psychiatry for qualitative evaluation of emotional and volitional disorders in various psychological pathologies; to assess staffing potential of employees; law enforcement systems and security measures in the direction of detecting aggressively colored voices may become an important use of such methods; Software has been developed that allows you to classify a person's voice depending on her emotional state.
Целью данной работы является исследование голосовых сигналов в частотной и временной области для идентификации объективных параметров, позволяющих классифицировать голос человека по эмоциональной окраске. По проведенным исследованиям разработанное программное обеспечение с использованием программного пакета Mathlab 2014a. В результате выполнения работы: созданы новые методы обработки голоса, которые предусматривают использование для характеристики психологического типа человека; полученные результаты, которые в дальнейшем могут быть использованы в психиатрии для качественной оценки эмоционально-волевых нарушений при различных психо-патологии; для оценки кадрового потенциала работников; важным применением подобных методов могут стать правоохранительные системы и средства безопасности в направлении выявления агрессивно окрашенных голосов; разработано программное обеспечение, позволяющее классифицировать голос человека в зависимости от его эмоционального состояния.

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis is concerned with the study of a class of variational problems arising in the context of ferromagnetism. More precisely, it aims at providing a numerical and analytical background to the study of hard magnetic thin films with perpendicular anisotropy. Magnetic thin films are sheets of magnetic materials with thicknesses of a few micrometers down to a few nanometers used mainly in electronic industry, for example as magnetic data storage media for computers. Our initial considerations are based on a model of Landau and Lifshitz that associates the ground states of the magnetization within a three-dimensional body to the minimizers of a nonconvex and nonlocal energy functional, the so-called micromagnetic energy. Under film thickness considerations (thin film regime), we first reduce the aforementioned model to two dimensions and then carry out a Gamma-limit for a sharp-interface model. The resulting energy functional features a competition between an interfacial and a dipolar energy contribution. The second part of the thesis is concerned with the analysis of a numerical method to approximate solutions of the previously derived sharp-interface model. We base our considerations on a relaxed model in which we replace the interfacial energy contribution by its Modica-Mortola approximation, and then study the associated L^2 gradient flow. The resulting evolution equation, a nonlinear and nonlocal parabolic equation, is discretized by a Crank-Nicolson approximation for the time variable and a Fourier collocation method for the space variable. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the solutions of the numerical scheme, the convergence of these solutions towards solutions of the initial continuous model and also derive a-priori error estimates for the numerical method. Finally, we illustrate the analytical results by a series of numerical experiments.

Повний текст джерелаIn the present study, the mechanisms and formation of an intense South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) event were investigated. For this, an observational analysis was performed to identify this system for the implementation of a numerical study on a sub-seasonal scale. Since the SACZ activity is predominantly concentrated over one of the most socioeconomically important regions of South America, predictability studies for this system are extremely valuable. The SACZ event chosen by the observational analysis was supported by a large-scale structure that featured a cyclonic vortex in the coastal region of southeastern Brazil. The numerical representation of a SACZ case in this context was particularly challenging since the SACZ is a very complex system and its development and evolution are closely linked to large-scale atmospheric features. To improve the numerical representation of such event, several spectral nudging applications were tested to ensure the large scale features that support the systems are well represented by the numerical model. Results show that the less restrictive alternative for the spectral nudging application was ideal for maintaining important features in large scales while still allowing the physical components of the model to contribute the representation of the atmosphere on smaller scales. From this, numerical experiments were conducted for an evaluation of how different convective parametrizations and microphysics represent the precipitation band associated to the system. The results show that, when used together, both WRF Single Moment 6-Class (WSM6) microphysics option and Kain-Fritsch (KF) cumulus option contributed to the formation of convective band associated with the SACZ. Results also show that it is possible to use a simpler microphysics scheme (WSM3) for the representation of the system, since the performances between different tests in microphysics were similar.

Повний текст джерелаIn this work we consider a finite state continuous-time Markov process in a random environment, namely, the Metropolis dynamics for the Generalized Random Energy Model (GREM) with a finite number of levels, and we discuss the behavior of its reaching time to equilibrium which is given by inverse of the spectral gap of its transition probability matrix. On the main result of this thesis, we prove the division between the system volume and the logarithm of the inverse of the gap is almost surely upper bounded by a function of the temperature that it is also the function that describe the free energy of the GREM at low temperature. As an additional study, it is also discuss the corresponding limiting lower in a particular case of the 2-level GREM.

Повний текст джерелаOne of the main objects of random matrix theory is the spectrum of matrices of large dimension and whose entries are random variables. In this thesis, we concern ourselves with two questions : the large deviations of the largest eigenvalue and the convergence of the empirical measure. Apart from the case of coefficients with Gaussian or heavy-tailed distributions., few large deviation principles are proved in random matrix theory, for the empirical measure or the largest eigenvalue. In the first part of this thesis, we prove a series of large deviation principles for the largest eigenvalue of Wigner matrices, Wishart matrices and matrices with variance profiles with coefficients whose distributions satisfy a sub-Gaussian bound.In the second part of this thesis, we examine the question of the convergence of the empirical measure of polynomials of random matrices. In the case of self-adjoint polynomials in independent Wigner matrices, thanks to the results of Voiculescu, we can see the limit measure as the spectral measure of a polynomial in independently free semi-circular elements. But in the general case, it is necessary to control the smallest singular values in order to conclude. We present such a control for polynomials of degree 2 in Ginibre matrices and we prove the convergence of the empirical measure

Повний текст джерелаThe topic of this thesis is the study of models coming from kinetic theory. In all the problems that are addressed, the associated linear or linearized problem is analyzed from a spectral point of view and from the point of view of semigroups. Tothat, we add the study of the nonlinear stability when the equation is nonlinear. More precisely, to begin with, we treat the problem of trend to equilibrium for the fractional Fokker-Planck and Boltzmann without cut-off equations, proving an exponential decay to equilibrium in spaces of type L1 with polynomial weights. Concerning the inhomogeneous Landau equation, we develop a Cauchy theory of perturbative solutions in spaces of type L2 with various weights such as polynomial and exponential weights and we also prove the exponential stability of these solutions. Then, we prove similar results for the inhomogeneous inelastic diffusively driven Boltzmann equation in a small inelasticity regime in L1 spaces with polynomial weights. Finally, we study in the same and uniform framework from the spectral analysis point of view with a semigroup approach several Fokker-Planck equations which converge towards the classical one

The first result provides sufficient conditions for the almost sure convergence of series of contractions with random weights, after we prove some results for the randomly weighted ergodic means and then improve some results of I. Assani and J. Rosenblatt. The same technic will allow us to study the almost sure convergence of series of contractions when orbits are perturbed by i. I. D random variables with positive moment. We also study deterministic ergodic means, where we obtain some estimations concerning the scare function of Littlewood-Paley and the oscillation function associated to these means. The last result deal with the almost sure convergence of ergodic means, when the orbits are selected according to a sequence of positive integers generated in a randomly way, we state sufficients conditions for the almost sure convergence of these means and we show how these conditions are weaker then J. Bourgain's conditions

In order to deal with the main concerning problems, such as the existence and uniqueness of the solutions and steady states as well as the asymptotic behaviors, the associated linear or linearized model is considered from the aspect of spectrum and semigroups in appropriate spaces then the nonlinear stability follows. More precisely, we start with a linear runs-and-tumbles equation in dimension d≥1 to establish the existence of a unique positive and normalized steady state and the exponential asymptotic stability in weighted L¹ space based on the Krein-Rutman theory together with some moment estimates from kinetic theory. Then, we consider time elapsed model under general assumptions on the firing rate and prove the uniqueness of the steady state and its nonlinear exponential stability in case without or with delay in the weak connectivity regime from the spectral analysis theory for semigroups. Finally, we study the model under weaker regularity assumption on the firing rate and the existence of the solution as well as the same exponential stability are established generally no matter taking delay into account or not and no matter in weak or strong connectivity regime

Повний текст джерелаWe study some shape optimization problems associated to spectral and geometric functionals from both theoretical and numerical points of view. One of the main ideas is to provide Gamma-convergence frameworks allowing the construction of numerical approximation methods for the quantities we wish to optimize. In particular, these numerical methods are applied to the study of the Dirichlet-Laplace eigenvalues under perimeter constraint in two and three dimensions and to optimization problems concerning multiphase configurations and partitions in the plane and on three dimensional surfaces.As well, we focus on the analysis of the Steklov spectrum in different geometric classes of domains. Together with the study of existence of extremal domains and the spectral stability under geometric perturbations, we develop methods based on fundamental solutions in order to compute numerically the spectrum. A detailed analysis of the numerical method shows that we get an important precision, while the computation time is significantly decreased compared to mesh-based methods. This approach is extended to the computation of Wentzell and Laplace-Beltrami eigenvalues

Повний текст джерелаWe first consider, in this thesis, the problem of statistical analysis of FARIMA (Fractionally AutoRegressive Integrated Moving-Average) models endowed with uncorrelated but non-independent error terms. These models are called weak FARIMA and can be used to fit long-memory processes with general nonlinear dynamics. Relaxing the independence assumption on the noise, which is a standard assumption usually imposed in the literature, allows weak FARIMA models to cover a large class of nonlinear long-memory processes. The weak FARIMA models are dense in the set of purely non-deterministic stationary processes, the class of these models encompasses that of FARIMA processes with an independent and identically distributed noise (iid). We call thereafter strong FARIMA models the models in which the error term is assumed to be an iid innovations.We establish procedures for estimating and validating weak FARIMA models. We show, under weak assumptions on the noise, that the least squares estimator of the parameters of weak FARIMA(p,d,q) models is strongly consistent and asymptotically normal. The asymptotic variance matrix of the least squares estimator of weak FARIMA(p,d,q) models has the "sandwich" form. This matrix can be very different from the asymptotic variance obtained in the strong case (i.e. in the case where the noise is assumed to be iid). We propose, by two different methods, a convergent estimator of this matrix. An alternative method based on a self-normalization approach is also proposed to construct confidence intervals for the parameters of weak FARIMA(p,d,q) models.We then pay particular attention to the problem of validation of weak FARIMA(p,d,q) models. We show that the residual autocorrelations have a normal asymptotic distribution with a covariance matrix different from that one obtained in the strong FARIMA case. This allows us to deduce the exact asymptotic distribution of portmanteau statistics and thus to propose modified versions of portmanteau tests. It is well known that the asymptotic distribution of portmanteau tests is correctly approximated by a chi-squared distribution when the error term is assumed to be iid. In the general case, we show that this asymptotic distribution is a mixture of chi-squared distributions. It can be very different from the usual chi-squared approximation of the strong case. We adopt the same self-normalization approach used for constructing the confidence intervals of weak FARIMA model parameters to test the adequacy of weak FARIMA(p,d,q) models. This method has the advantage of avoiding the problem of estimating the asymptotic variance matrix of the joint vector of the least squares estimator and the empirical autocovariances of the noise.Secondly, we deal in this thesis with the problem of estimating autoregressive models of order 1 endowed with fractional Gaussian noise when the Hurst parameter H is assumed to be known. We study, more precisely, the convergence and the asymptotic normality of the generalized least squares estimator of the autoregressive parameter of these models

Background: Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are developmental disorders characterized by qualitative impairment in reciprocal social interaction, language and communication and restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests, and activities and they are defined based on standardized clinical criteria as such those from international manuals as ICD and DSM, or based on clinical tools, mainly the semi-structured interviews, such as the Autism Diagnostic Interview- Revised (ADI-R), a recognized gold standard diagnostic tool for ASD. This interview was recently translated into brazilian Portuguese, and it was preliminarily validated for this language. However, this process has been occurred with a small sample in a specific state of Brazil. Besides, other validity evidences, as convergent validity were not explored in this study. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the Convergent Validity between the Brazilian version of the ADI-R and a screening tool Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC). Method: For this study, 20 parents or caregivers of children and teens diagnosed with ASD were recruited from the Presbyterian Mackenzie University ASD Clinic, and from the Federal of São Paulo State University Social Cognition Clinic. The children were submitted to a clinical multidisciplinary evaluation, and neuropsychological evaluation that also consisted on application of the ABC. Another researcher, a Child Psychiatrist with expertise on ASD was previously trained and allowed for conducting and codificating the ADI-R. Results: The age of the probands has ranged between 6 and 19 years old, 90% of them were male. The correlations between both the tools, using the Pearson coefficient were mostly positive, and they have ranged between average to high with statistical significance., considering the 3 mains domains of the ADI-R and the five main domains of the ABC. Conclusions: Evidence of convergent validity was found when comparing ADI-R results with ABC/ICA.
Introdução: Os Transtornos do Espectro do Autismo (TEA) são transtornos do desenvolvimento caracterizados por prejuízos qualitativos na interação social recíproca, comunicação e linguagem e pela presença de padrões de comportamentos estereotipados, restritos e repetitivos e sua caracterização se faz a partir de critérios clínicos definidos e padronizados por classificações internacionais como as da CID ou DSM ou por instrumentos, principalmente as entrevistas, como a Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R), instrumento considerado pela literatura padrão-ouro para diagnóstico de TEA e que recentemente foi traduzido e preliminarmente validado para o português brasileiro. Entretanto, tal processo ocorreu com uma amostra reduzida e numa região específica do Brasil, assim como outras evidências de validade do instrumento tais como validade convergente não foram exploradas. Objetivo: Investigar evidências de validade de convergente entre a versão brasileira da entrevista diagnóstica ADI-R e os instrumento de triagem Inventário de Comportamentos Autísticos (ICA). Método: Foram selecionados 20 pais e/ou cuidadores de 20 sujeitos a partir da Clínica de TEA da Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie e da Universidade Federal de São Paulo. Os sujeitos foram submetidos à avaliação clínica multidisciplinar médica e neuropsicológica a qual incluía a aplicação do ICA. Um outro avaliador, psiquiatra da Infância e Adolescência com experiência em TEA e habilitado a aplicar a ADI-R foi responsável pela aplicação e codificação da entrevista. Resultados: A idade dos sujeitos variou de 6 a 19 anos, com média de 10,1. Desses, 90% eram do sexo masculino. Os coeficientes de correlação de Pearson entre os 3 domínios da ADI-R (comunicação, interação social e comportamentos restritos) entre si e destes com o e os do ICA (escrever todos), foram moderados e altos, positivos e a maioria com significância estatística. Conclusões: Evidências de Validade Convergente foram encontradas, comparando-se a ADI-R com o ABC/ICA.

Повний текст джерелаThis PhD thesis lies within the scope of Random Matrix Theory. In the first part, we study some models called Coulomb gas. We obtain in particular a large deviation principle for the spectral measure of discrete Coulomb gas which are the discrete analogues of the classical continuous Coulomb gas models met in Random Matrix Theory. We also consider the Generalised Inverse Gaussian random matrix model. In the second part, we establish the universality of the fluctuations of the largest eigenvalue of Deformed Wigner matrices which are Hermitian Wigner matrices (whose entries have sub-Gaussians moments) perturbed by a deterministic matrix of rank one. Then, we present some results of a work in progress: we investigate the almost sure convergence of the first largest eigenvalues of some general Deformed Wigner matrices

Повний текст джерелаEl objeto de estudio de esta tesis se centra en la política europea del espectro radioeléctrico y presta una especial atención a la armonización del dividendo digital en el Reino Unido y España. La metodología está basada en una revisión bibliográfica y hemerográfica completada con un conjunto de entrevistas con representantes de diferentes organismos de regulación del Reino Unido y España, y de la misma Comisión Europea. En la primera parte de la tesis se realiza una aproximación conceptual, desde una vertiente técnica y jurídica, a la red radioeléctrica y al dividendo digital, espacio liberado una vez se ha completado la transición a la TDT. Seguidamente, se aborda la naturaleza y ámbitos de la regulación de la red radioeléctrica, sus actores, modelos y evolución de sus formas de gestión. El tercer capítulo se centra en la Unión Europea como actor de la política del espectro radioeléctrico desde mediados de la década de los 80 hasta la actualidad. En la última parte de la tesis se describen y analizan las actuaciones de la UE destinadas a armonizar el dividendo digital y se atiende especialmente a las consecuencias que esta armonización tiene sobre las estructuras nacionales y la planificación de la TDT en los dos países estudiados, el Reino Unido y España.
The object of study of this thesis focuses on the European radio spectrum policy in particular the harmonization of the digital dividend in the United Kingdom and Spain. The methodology is based on a multidisciplinary bibliographic review completed with an in-depth interviews with policy-makers from the national regulatory authorities and the European Commission. The first chapter of the dissertation consists of a conceptual approach of radio spectrum network and the digital dividend, the amount space released once the switch-over is completed. Afterwards, it deals with the nature of spectrum regulation, its actors, models and evolution of spectrum management. Its third chapter focuses on the European Union as a spectrum policy actor from the 80's onwards. Finally, this thesis analyses the EU actions oriented to the harmonisation of the digital dividend, and pays special attention to its consequences on national structures and DTT plans of the United Kingdom and Spain.

Повний текст джерелаIn this thesis, we study and jointly address several important image processing problems including registration that aims at aligning images through a deformation, image segmentation whose goal consists in finding the edges delineating the objects inside an image, and image decomposition closely related to image denoising, and attempting to partition an image into a smoother version of it named cartoon and its complementary oscillatory part called texture, with both local and nonlocal variational approaches. The first proposed model addresses the topology-preserving segmentation-guided registration problem in a variational framework. A second joint segmentation and registration model is introduced, theoretically and numerically studied, then tested on various numerical simulations. The last model presented in this work tries to answer a more specific need expressed by the CEREMA (Centre of analysis and expertise on risks, environment, mobility and planning), namely automatic crack recovery detection on bituminous surface images. Due to the image complexity, a joint fine structure decomposition and segmentation model is proposed to deal with this problem. It is then theoretically and numerically justified and validated on the provided images

This research argues that the scarcity rationale could be replaced by public spectrum rationale. The research results show that although the nature of spectrum resource is public good by economic definition, it doesn’t mean the resources are owned by the public. Therefore, the ownership of resources should be clearly defined under the law to prevent users from interfering with each other. For spectrum used in private sector, the allocative efficiency is important for some valuable blocks of spectrum such as 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2600MHz. To improve allocative efficiency, the research result suggest that the government could legislate specific laws on spectrum management, while allowing users to decide how they want to make use of the resources. In the long run, wireless communication technology will keep developing. As long as signal interference can be controlled under specific conditions, spectrum sharing including common regime and license-exempt use should be adopted. A government plays the key role which not only provides management service but should also have a systematic plan for improving spectrum efficiency.
